  1. When I am fighting within myself and fighting against the

  2. very things that God is trying to use in my

  3. life and slinging spears at David, the very one that

  4. God sent to fight my battles. I wonder, are you

  5. trying to kill something that God is trying to use

  6. in your life? I want to preach about David, but

  7. before I can get there, because I'm not going to

  8. lie to you. I want to be David so bad.

  9. I want to be a man after God's own heart.

  10. I want to kill Goliath. I think it'd be cool

  11. to kill Goliath. I want to shake tambourines. I want

  12. to be David, but sometimes I'm soft.

  13. Sometimes I'm Saul.

  14. Sometimes I'm fighting against what I should be fighting for.

  15. So now David has a choice to make and so

  16. do you. You have to decide which weapons to use when.

  17. And Saul, in his attempt to spear David, misses and

  18. hits the wall.

  19. I noticed a contrast.

  20. It said, I don't know if you could put it

  21. back up for me, where it says that Saul was

  22. sitting in his house with his hand on the spear.

  23. And David had his hand on the harp. He had

  24. his hand on the lyre. He had his hand on

  25. the string instrument. Because I was thinking that You know,

  26. if this is a game of rock, paper, scissors, which

  27. one do you want?

  28. Spear? Javelin? Or harp? You choose. Come on, turn to

  29. your neighbor. Rock, paper, scissors, spear. I want the spear.

  30. And when Saul misses, David has a decision because the

  31. Bible says that his spear is stuck into the wall

  32. and now so here's the decision that i have to

  33. make do i take my hand off the harp.

  34. And grab the spear and throw it.

  35. Back because if there's one thing we know about david

  36. he doesn't miss ask goliath about david's.

  37. Aim If you're going to throw a spear at David,

  38. you better.

  39. Lock it in.

  40. Because if he throws it back, I assure you, it

  41. will not end up.

  42. In the wall.

  43. He will off your head.

  44. So before you throw a spear at David, take aim.

  45. You will not get a second chance.

  46. But David does. What must have been the hardest thing

  47. he ever did?

  48. Nothing. Nothing.

  49. Do you know how hard it is.

  50. When you have a reputation for killing giants to not

  51. fight back when you have the opportunity?

  52. Do you know how hard it is when you have

  53. the opportunity.

  54. To manipulate a situation and.

  55. Control a situation and to try to get people to

  56. do what you want? And they said this about me

  57. and I'm going to say it back. Oh, God, I

  58. wish you could see some of.

  59. The replies I write to people on Facebook that I

  60. never publish.

  61. They are poetic.

  62. Throw it back.

  63. I can hit you with this. I do words. I

  64. can talk.

  65. I can't fix a car. I can't bake a cake, but.

  66. I can talk. David can throw.

  67. And he doesn't.

  68. He does something weird. He ducks.

  69. David ducks. David, let's do it, ducks. Because he has

  70. no other choice. Really, the harp is not a portable instrument,

  71. so he can't sidestep the harp or the spear. He's

  72. seated behind And the hand of Saul is on the sphere.

  73. And the hand of David is on the harp. And

  74. I want to know who.

  75. Has the upper hand. Who has the winning hand? Because

  76. if the hand of Saul is on the sphere and

  77. the hand of David is on the harp, it seems

  78. to me that sphere beats strings.

  79. So I got one hand on the spear and one

  80. hand on the strings. And I know Saul didn't miss

  81. David if he was at close range.

  82. Sitting down behind the harp.

  83. So how could the one with the spear lose to

  84. the one with the how could Saul have his hand

  85. on the spear and David have his hand on the

  86. harp and David get out there must have been.

  87. Another hand in the room.

  88. That is not mentioned in the text how many know

  89. that the hand of God is on your life the

  90. hand of.

  91. God was on.

  92. David the hand of God Grabbed.

  93. The spear of Saul and said, not.

  94. Him, not now, no weapon formed against me shall be able.

  95. To feel like preaching.

  96. Keep your hand on the harp and God will put

  97. his hand on the spear.

  98. He won't let it kill you.

  99. He will not suffer your foot to be moved.

  100. The Lord which keepeth thee, he will not slumber nor sleep.

  101. If you keep your hand on the harp.

  102. See, I thought that David had an instrument and Saul

  103. had a weapon, but maybe worship is a weapon.

  104. Maybe David, maybe David.

  105. Knew if I keep my hand on the harp, if

  106. I let God fight my battles.

  107. I cannot be defeated. Are there any worshipers in the house?

  108. How about back here? Any worshippers that know, he'll fight

  109. my back.

  110. Well, that's just emotional.

  111. No, it's survival.

  112. Because if you don't learn how to duck.

  113. If you don't learn how to say God, the weapons

  114. of our warfare are not carnal.

  115. I don't throw spears back.

  116. I got the winning hand.

  117. When I clap my hands, my praise confuses the enemy.

  118. My praise confuses When I lift my hands in worship,

  119. the hand of.

  120. God is on me.

  121. And David knew that the same hand that had plucked

  122. him from the sheep field and the same hand that

  123. had delivered him from lions and bears and Goliaths and

  124. the same hand that held the flask that poured the oil,

  125. the hand of God.

  126. Is on my life.

  127. And Saul said, Cannot kill what God has crowned.

  128. So the way I fight is this I don't fight

  129. for victory that's the way the world fights a Fight.

  130. From victory My worship is my weapon. I'll have to

  131. prove myself to people in situations. If I take this

  132. spear in my hand and throw it back, there's somebody

  133. in here who's got a spear in the wall right

  134. next to your head, and you are trying to decide

  135. right now whether to do it your way or God's way.

  136. Can I give you a little piece of advice? Duck, David.

  137. Duck and let God have his way.

  138. How did David keep his hand on the harp, and

  139. how do you keep your heart at peace? with spheres

  140. flying at your head? David knew that if I can

  141. win the battle within my soul, God will fight my

  142. battle with Saul. That's where the real battle is. The

  143. war is within. And so are the weapons. You can't

  144. fight fear with fear. And so when David says, when

  145. David says, God, you are my strength. I'm so glad

  146. for Psalm 59 because 1 Samuel 19 gives me the

  147. picture of what David did. Is that with Saul's spears

  148. flying at him, David was able to keep his hand

  149. on the harp. It's a picture of being able to

  150. remain in a place of trust and surrender in a

  151. time of turbulence and trial and frustration. It's a picture

  152. that says that Saul's hand was on the spear. That's

  153. me trying to control. David's hand stayed on the harp,

  154. and he played his hand. He knew that if I

  155. keep my hand on the harp, I cannot be defeated.

  156. If I keep my hand, if I keep my heart

  157. at peace, it will not matter what spears fly my way.

  158. He said, God, you are my strength.

  159. Can we read the Psalm again?

  160. Look at this. Psalm 59 verse nine. I watch for you.

  161. Now that's interesting because David seems to be saying.

  162. I wasn't watching Saul. I wasn't watching the spears.

  163. I was watching the one whose hand.

  164. How many believe the hand of God is on your life?

  165. Now we know this.

  166. We know this from our side of the cross that

  167. the victory has already been won by our king, our

  168. greater David, Jesus Christ.

  169. We know that David.

  170. Was not the last king to come out of Bethlehem.

  171. We know that he was a king who was pointing

  172. to a king of kings. We know that the spirit

  173. of him who raised Christ is from the dead, and

  174. we've already got the victory.

  175. We don't fight for it. We fight from it, and

  176. the hand.

  177. Of God is on your life, and you say, well,

  178. I'm not David, but you are, because David's name literally

  179. means beloved, and the same love that crowned David has

  180. crowned you, and Saul cannot kill.

  181. What God has already crowned, and perfect love casts out fear.

  182. So So here's what David did. He said, I watch

  183. for you. I got a lot of stuff coming in

  184. my head. I got battles and problems and brokenness.

  185. I got 99 problems.

  186. In fact, Sheba is one. We'll get to that. But

  187. he said, bring it home for a day. You are

  188. my fortress.

  189. Next verse.

  190. My God on whom I can rely.

  191. But watch this verse 11.

  192. Verse 11.

  193. Do not kill them, Lord, our.

  194. Shield.

  195. Wait a minute.

  196. David did have a weapon. David did have a weapon.

  197. Because when Saul's spear started flying.

  198. David got behind his shield.

  199. Come on.

  200. I need you to receive this because he got some

  201. stuff flying at you. You got some doubts in your soul.

  202. Come on, but stay behind your shield.

  203. Come on, duck, David.

  204. Get behind your shield.

  205. Paul said it's.

  206. The shield of faith.

  207. Wherewith ye shall quench the fiery darts of the wicked.

  208. I got a shield.

  209. Is anybody shielded by the power of God? And if

  210. I stay behind my shield, Saul cannot kill what God

  211. has crowned. I got the winning hand. I might not

  212. look like much. I might just be a shepherd boy,

  213. but I got the winning hand, and God is my shield.
