You're listening to a message to go from acts church.
-
We hope this message will light up your tea.
-
I have a word for you this morning, and Tim
-
will know about it because it came as a result
-
of me having to share in the teacher's devotion. And
-
the Lord gave this word, and I thought it was
-
just for the teacher's devotion, because I actually have another
-
message prepared for your which sometime in the future, I
-
hope I will get two from the Book of Corinthians.
-
But the Lord put in my heart to share this
-
word with you, and that was fifteen minutes. Now I'll
-
be forty five minutes, so I hope you get the
-
full gist of what this word is all about. So
-
I think we're reading from John chapter four, verse one,
-
and wow, this is very nice. Evan were you? Oh,
-
this is really cute. It used to be so many pedals.
-
Now it's just this one little bar full of colors. Nice,
-
very distracting. Okay, Okay, let's just get to it. Okay. Now,
-
for many of you, this might be a reminder, but
-
actually God's big on remind us. God is big on
-
us remembering his word over and over again because it
-
is in a memory that power takes place. Let's read
-
and let's see what we can glean from John chapter
-
four and pretty much the whole chapter. Therefore, when the
-
Lord knew that the Pharisees had heard that Jesus made
-
and baptized more disciples than John, though Jesus himself did
-
not baptize but his disciples verse three, he left Judea
-
and again to Galilee. You know, the things that we
-
hear can sometimes get in the way. And you know,
-
not everything that we hear is bad. Some of the
-
stuff that we hear pretty good. Hey, Jesus heard that
-
his disciples are baptizing more than John. Isn't that a
-
step up? Isn't that something nice? Hey? When something nice
-
is being spoken about us, don't you want to just linger? Yeah? Yeah,
-
I mean sort of feel good. You're just your shoulders,
-
you're just your your cold and you stand a little
-
bit taller, and it's so good. Right. What about those
-
times when people are speaking bad about you? You know,
-
those are the times even more we don't rush away,
-
some more we want to hear. Oh, really, is this
-
what you're thinking about me? This is what you're speaking
-
You just wait, crag am I you know, talking myself
-
or this? Does this really happen in our lives? We do?
-
We tend to pay attention to the words around us,
-
and you gotta ask yourself, is it important to get
-
stuck listening to what people are saying? Is it important
-
that we stop a walk, we stop moving forward because
-
we interested about the noise that is going on around us?
-
I want to look at what Jesus didn't Therefore, when
-
the Lord knew, how does he know? Because he can
-
he's within yeah shot right, Okay, people are talking, Okay,
-
what did he do? He left? He left? I just
-
love it. Do you realize that when you have read
-
this word, that the lesson here is Jesus was not
-
interested to get stuck from doing his mission by the
-
things that people were talking about, good or bad. Isn't
-
it so liberating to live your life not being bothered
-
about what people say because it doesn't stop you. You
-
see where you're about to move, and the things you're
-
about to do does not depend upon the conversations that's
-
going around. I mean, if I knew how to do something,
-
I tell you when I used to do my exams,
-
I got doctor down here mathematics. Wow, maybe you can
-
explain equals MC squared to me. Yeah, I know, but
-
it's it's still a mathematical formulation, right. So wow. Anyway,
-
if if I wanted to do something, and for example,
-
my exams, one of the principles I followed when I
-
did exams is the moment I go to the exam
-
place where everybody is at, I make sure I'm not
-
near my friends because I don't want to listen to
-
the conversation. I'm not interested with what they know or
-
what they don't know. I'm not interested in the panic
-
that they may have or the confidence that they may have.
-
You know why, because if I'm interested in what they
-
have to say, and I get caught up in the conversation,
-
in me cause fear to come in. I didn't prepare
-
for that. Oh really, you know, and that whole panic.
-
We'll mess up your exam. So what did I do?
-
That's the one time I stay away from all my friends.
-
If they walk towards me, I walk away. If they
-
come near me, I'm nowhere to be. I will always
-
be a look. I will only go and talk to
-
them after the exam is over, because then it doesn't
-
matter I've done what I set out to do. You
-
see Jesus say, I didn't know that was a biblical principle,
-
because Jesus did exactly the same thing. He was not
-
going to let himself stop by the conversations swirling around him.
-
For many of you, this is an answer. Maybe you're
-
just stuck because you're so concentrating or so concerned about
-
what people are talking about you. Your life is bigger
-
than that. There's a song in my head. I am
-
who I am, says I am. It will be a
-
country in Western song. I will write it sooner or later,
-
because I think it's quite catch you here. I am
-
who I am, says I am. Now I can already.
-
You know why, because the country in Western songs that
-
are wanted all these weird, weird lines, And it's true,
-
I am who I am, says I am, so concentrate
-
on that. Of course, the title of today's message I
-
did not say is Jesus has a need. Jesus has
-
a need, and it's going to come from verse four.
-
But Jesus needed to go through Samaria. He needed to
-
go through Samaria. Why does Jesus need to do Why
-
does Jesus need to do anything? We'll learn and I
-
had an experience or what needing to do something is
-
really all about. This happened a couple of weeks back
-
and after I had shared this in the devotion, and
-
I believe the Lord put in my hand I want
-
you to share this that day. I want you to
-
share this the next time you go sharing the word.
-
So anyway, in the evening, about seven o'clock, the Mabel
-
and myself we went for dinner and we went to
-
this Indian shop and my go to dinner is always
-
Raba tose. Why Raba tose is the healthiest of all
-
the stuffler you get in the shop because you eat ROTI, CHINAI,
-
too much oil, you eat everything out, But raba tosay
-
I've done my research is a little bit healthier. Who
-
I've got a research of for years. So anyway, after
-
eating the Rabba to say and all that, and the
-
Bible says, I need to get something from ninety nine,
-
which is the shop next door. So we went to
-
ninety nine and we got our stuff and we were
-
at the counter, you know, we're about to pay, but
-
just before us was a poor Indonesian lady and her
-
mother and they wanted to buy a bag of rice.
-
It was to our shock when the person in the
-
counter said, you cannot buy this rice because you're not
-
a Malaysian. Have any of you ever heard this before?
-
Have you ever seen it take place? I just couldn't
-
believe it. Elder Mabel couldn't believe it. And this lady
-
it was just a bag of rice. She was so sad,
-
and she walked away to put the rice back. So
-
I looked at Elder Mabel and I said, hey, just
-
go and give her money and whatever the rice say
-
that she can buy the more expensive rice, she will
-
have money to buy it. So Elder Mabel then give
-
her the money. We paid for our stuff got in
-
the car. But when we got in the car and
-
we began to drive off our hearts both she and
-
me were not settled. So how can we do this?
-
You know, this is this is poor, poor, poor people.
-
And as we were discussing this, we said, what is
-
wrong with the boat of us with such dummies? Why
-
didn't we just buy the rice and give it to her?
-
Why didn't we do that? And it just bugged us
-
so much. By that time, I had already gone onto
-
the main road, so I just looked at her, and
-
she looked at me and we said, no, this is
-
not going to do. We need to go back. We
-
need to go back. So we turned the car. We
-
came around. We parked in front of the restaurant, and
-
it was with such it was like a mission impossible movie.
-
It was with such determination, so much of determination that
-
the people in the shop, the shop, you know, but
-
what's wrong? Is anything wrong? Is there anything wrong? So
-
let me explain. No, we need to find this lady.
-
We went into the shop. We searched all it couldn't
-
have been two three minutes. We could not find her.
-
We could not find her. We came out. Then we
-
went to the shop. Say did you see a lady
-
you know with her mother? You know? And what's the
-
problem is it? The poor they were denied a bag
-
of rice. We want to buy it for them. Did
-
you see them? No, we didn't see that's what they said.
-
Then we took the car and we went around that
-
whole shopping area. We stopped by it, every shop looking
-
for this lady. Why we needed to find we did not.
-
We were feeling really bad because when something like that
-
comes upon your heart, you have to be quick to
-
understand what the Lord is telling you. And despite our
-
years in the Lord, we can be slow. Sometimes we
-
missed the opportunity. But I'll tell you this, we won't
-
do it again. If ever we are in such a situation,
-
we will use this experience and think faster and do
-
the right thing. The very least is we gave the
-
money so that she could buy the more expensive bag
-
of rice. You know, but it was so quick. This
-
poor lady and her mother seemed to disappear because we
-
are with the car. This is in a couple of minutes.
-
Where could they go? We couldn't find them. You know
-
what is the blessing out of all this? Every time
-
now we go to that shop to eat food, you
-
should see how they serve us. They are so nice,
-
so attentive, but so friendly towards Elder Mabel and myself
-
because they saw how we were trying to look out
-
for someone who was less fortunate. But that's that's not
-
that's not the reason why we did it. We did
-
it because the Holy Spirit put in our heart we
-
needed to do something. Jesus needed to go through Samaria.
-
And how many of you know that Samaria was a
-
place that knowed you went to. It's like me, I
-
try never to go to Joho, Okay any Jorians, Yeah no,
-
because you know this is I read so many stories
-
about it. It's not a place that I want to go.
-
Of course, I know I've had some nice fish there
-
in JB. So Jesus needed to go through a place
-
that no one, no jew wanted to go through. And
-
why is that? Well? He came to a city of
-
Samaria which is called Seicha, near the plot of ground
-
that Jacob gave to his son Joseph. Now Jacob's well
-
was there. Jesus, therefore, being wearied from his journey, set
-
us by the well. It is about the sixth hour.
-
You're about to listen. You're about to hear why Jesus
-
needed to go to this place. Jesus needed to do something.
-
When Jesus needs to do something, ask yourself one question.
-
Is it for him or for you? Is it for
-
him or for us? A woman of Samaria came to
-
draw water, and Jesus said to her, give me a
-
drink for his disciples, and gone away into the city
-
to buy food. Do you think Jesus was interested in
-
getting the drink of water? Because I challenge you read
-
the whole chapter, you find he didn't take a drink.
-
He did not take a drink. You see, Jesus is
-
interested to have or to start a conversation with you
-
and me. Did you know that about your Lord in Savior?
-
He wants to have a conversation with us. And what
-
is this conversation for? You're about to learn it's about
-
to address the deep most seated questions of our heart.
-
But do you think when you want to start a
-
conversation with somebody, you straight away, like the doctor here,
-
will say the theory of EA equals MC squared. This
-
is the reason why we have nuclear power or nuclear bombs.
-
And he's talking to a five year old. Do you
-
think a five year old is going to be appreciative
-
or is the five year old going to be appreciative
-
of a conversation? Do you like ice cream? And yeah,
-
I also like ice cream? And you got something in common.
-
Jesus wants to start a conversation. This is the Lord
-
of Lords in the King of Kings, the make of
-
the universe. When he came to this woman, do you
-
think he started with the questions of life? No, he
-
started with something that the woman could understand I matter, Well,
-
there's water down there, can you give me a drink?
-
Jesus needed to start a conversation. Then the woman of
-
Samaria said to him, how is it that you, being
-
a Jew, ask a drink from me, a Samaritan woman?
-
For Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans. You know
-
that's it seems straight right the Lord today, as I
-
was praying for this delivery to you'all, put in my
-
heart that this woman was actually questioning his motive. You see,
-
when somebody wants to do something for us, your first
-
response is why why do you want to do? What
-
do you want from me? Am? I speaking to real people?
-
And is it true when somebody does something good for you?
-
And as course parents, I like this. You know suddenly
-
as a kid is doing something nice in the house. Okay,
-
what do you want? Dad? How much? Why not? Every
-
time my kids give to me, dad how much? That
-
was my response? You or sometimes dad? No? No, you
-
can ask me a question now that I've given you
-
the answer. Ready. No, this is how I used to
-
be my kid's life. Tough name, but it's like that.
-
So this woman just behave like all of us that
-
when somebody comes to talk to us, and somebody comes
-
to reach out to us, we have in our hearts
-
what do you want from me? How many of you
-
when somebody first shared Jesus with you felt that way?
-
The world has twisted us so much that we cannot
-
even see good, even if it's staring us in the face.
-
And Jesus is good. So when Jesus wants to have
-
a conversation with us, do you think he wants to
-
get something out of you? Or he wants to give
-
you something? The Bible tells me for God to love
-
the world that he gave is only beconcerned. Whosoever believes
-
in him should not perish, but have ever last thing
-
like who did the giving first? Who read the good
-
stuff first? Wasn't it Jesus? And here we think that
-
he wants something from us? Let me tell you, is
-
there anything that you and I can give to the
-
Lord that he doesn't already have? Think about it. He
-
owns everything everywhere all at the same time. So why
-
is it that when he approaches us we say, what
-
do you want? I think we should change the way
-
we talk. And when Jesus approaches us a we should
-
ask this question, Lord, what are you about to give
-
us thank you in advance? True? I mean you come
-
to church on a Sunday, do you ever thank God
-
in advance for the Word of God that you're going
-
to receive in the morning before the Word is even preached.
-
Because see, if you can do that, I can assure
-
you the Lord will speak to you every time, not
-
just words that are nice to hear, but words that
-
will change your life. Because I stand up here and
-
I share the Word of God. Do you think it's
-
something I want from you? Or is it something I
-
want to impart to you so that when your life
-
changes for the better, that is reward in itself. Hey, guys,
-
you and I, we're gonna understand something about Jesus. So
-
the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans all the more,
-
I am telling you Jesus is very specific with his
-
desire to want to get to have a conversation with us. Okay,
-
let's move on verse ten. So Jesus answered and said
-
to her, Okay, now Jesus is about to reveal himself.
-
You see, the moment a conversation with the Lord starts,
-
you will find that the next thing that happens is
-
Jesus begins to reveal himself to us, you see, because
-
the power is in us, a knowing who is speaking
-
to us, all right, And this is how Jesus answered
-
and said to her, If you knew the gift of
-
God and who it is who says to you, give
-
me a drink, you would have asked him and he
-
would have given you living water. You see her, When
-
you read the Bible, you can make it excite. I
-
think you see if if do you think Jesus sounds
-
like me? If you knew who the gift of God
-
is and who it is who says, do you give
-
me a drink? You would have asked him and he
-
would have given you a drink of living or no impact.
-
The word of God has impact in your life. So
-
I imagine my Jesus is a hero, you know. I
-
imagine that he's got you know, just the mere opening
-
of his mouth will make your heart melt. So when
-
I read my Bible, I read it, you know, out aloud,
-
and I try and make it living. And to me,
-
that's how Jesus would have spoken. Because I tell you
-
something like that that the woman would have just then.
-
The woman you see now Jesus is is opening himself
-
up to the woman, but she doesn't get it. She
-
doesn't see it at first. You know, you and I
-
when the Lord speaks to us, sometimes we don't get it.
-
We didn't get what the Lord was telling us about
-
that woman buying rice. We missed it. But we will
-
learn for the future. We will get it. Eventually, we
-
will understand. So the woman said to him, sir, you
-
have nothing to draw with, and the well is deep.
-
Where do you get that living where? Where then, do
-
you get this living water? Are you greater than our
-
father Jacob who gave us the well and drank from
-
it himself, as well as his sons and his livestock.
-
Now the woman is putting a challenge to the Lord.
-
I know something. Are you meaning to tell me you
-
are greater than that which I know? So woman is
-
actually because he has revealed himself to her. So she
-
wants to no more because in her mind she's got
-
her set of heroes. Jesus is challenging her mindset, challenging
-
who are heroes are? Jesus challenges who are heroes? Are
-
those thoughts that we think are higher than him? Jesus
-
challenges because Jesus wants to reveal himself to us. He
-
wants to show us that he is the Lord of lords,
-
in the King of kings. Jesus answered and said to her,
-
I like this again. Let's do this. Whoever drinks of
-
this water will thirst again. But whoever drinks of the
-
water that I shall give him will never thirst. But
-
the water that I shall give him will become to
-
him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.
-
So Jesus is now upping the enty. Jesus is beginning
-
to show off. Because it's good when Jesus shows off
-
to us, you know, because for Jesus to reveal who
-
he is to us is a good thing. You know why,
-
when Pilot tried to get it out of him, Jesus
-
didn't answer. When the chief priests try to get it
-
out of him, they didn't. He didn't answer, But he
-
answered this woman. You begin to understand that God wants
-
to reveal his glory to us, but in a very
-
personal way, in a very deep way, because he wants
-
to have a conversation with us. And I'll tell you this,
-
if you cannot remember everything I'm sharing with you today,
-
if you cannot you know, it just doesn't make sense.
-
Remember one thing, Jesus Us wants to have conversation with
-
us so that he can reveal himself to us, so
-
that we can grow into a deeper relationship with him.
-
That's what is the understanding. I'm just going to take
-
a drink, okay. So now Jesus is basically saying, what
-
you think is the best, we'll never satisfy because you
-
drink from this, well, it's not going to satisfy you.
-
And we look to things daily. They don't satisfy us.
-
We look at things daily that keep us. One thing
-
keep us unsatisfied. And so now this woman understands that
-
I have been unsatisfied all along. I want to be satisfied.
-
So she says to Jesus. Now the woman said to him, Sir,
-
give me this water that I may not thirst nor
-
come here to draw. She still didn't get it because
-
she's still thinking in terms of physical water. She's not
-
thinking about things of her spirit. Hey, you know what,
-
you think that material things are gonna bless us? They may.
-
You think that material things will satisfy. They may, but
-
only for a short while, because after you have it,
-
it doesn't satisfy anymore. But what you want is the
-
thing that satisfies your heart, because the things that satisfy
-
your heart you never go away. You love your children, right,
-
your children do naughty things? Do you still love them? Yeah?
-
Why your love of your children is dependent on whether
-
they good or better? No, you love them. We always
-
say unconditional love. Right, what does that mean? They break
-
your glass? You still love them. They give you a flower,
-
you still love them. Something deeper. It's not based on
-
something material. And Jesus said to her, go call your
-
husband and come here. Now this man is really showing off.
-
So the conversation is going deeper. Right. The woman is
-
now saying, ah, I want it, I want to know more.
-
Jesus is now saying he's gonna read. Actually this question
-
is to reveal himself more to the woman, because you
-
will realize later on when she tells somebody she's gonna
-
speak about this. All right, So what is this? Jesus says,
-
go and call your husband. The woman said, I have
-
no husband. I need you all to remember one thing.
-
If there's anyone you need to be honest with about yourself,
-
it's Jesus. Do not hide yourself from God. Do not
-
hide whether you're good or bad from God. If you're bad,
-
go to God and say God, I'm bad. I'm bad.
-
You know it. No, of course he knows it. Let
-
me tell you. Are there any good people here? No?
-
Because the Bible says there's no good, no, not one.
-
So all of us qualify. All of us qualify because
-
all of us, according to the Bible, are bad. It's
-
all right. You need Jesus. You say, if you're good,
-
then Jesus didn't come for you. I will go to
-
the Lord and I will tell God God, I'm bad.
-
I wish I was a better son. I wish you know.
-
I'm so sorry. I'm not as good as I should be.
-
I'm so sorry I miss it all the time. You know,
-
this is how I talk to the Lord. You know
-
why because if there's any person who must see you
-
for who you are, and the conversation that you have
-
must be exactly how you are, it's to Jesus. Do
-
not ever hide yourself from the Lord, because when you
-
are telling God exactly who you are, he will start
-
to tell you who he is. But if you speak
-
to the Lord in terms that is not truthful, do
-
not expect him to reply. So Jesus said to her,
-
you have said, well, you see, this is what I mean.
-
The woman said, I have no husband, and Jesus acknowledged
-
her for it. You have said, well, now this is
-
the part I love, because Jesus beginning to show off.
-
For you have had five husbands, and the one whom
-
you know is not your husband, the one who move
-
with Now in that you have spoken truly, you see,
-
because the woman was truthful to the Lord, it opened
-
the door for him to get even deeper with her,
-
even deeper with her. The woman said to him, sir,
-
and this is where now understanding is beginning to come in.
-
You see, when you're honest with the Lord and he
-
starts to speak to you, you know what happens next
-
Your spirit starts to see. Your spirit starts to make
-
sense of it. The woman said to him, Sir, I
-
perceive you are a prophet. She's You're not normal, you
-
are extraordinary. You are something special. When she realized that
-
Jesus was someone special, now she opens up about the
-
real question that Jesus came all the way to see
-
her for do you realize Jesus needed to be there
-
for this question? That she was about to ask. Wow.
-
Jesus took time out of his busy schedule to go
-
where people don't go in order to meet one woman
-
so that he could have a conversation with her, to
-
bring out honesty from her, so he could reveal himself
-
to her, so that when she saw who he was,
-
she could ask him this question. The woman said to him, Sir,
-
I perceive you're a prophet. Our fathers worshiped on this mounted,
-
and you Jews say that Jerusalem is the place where
-
one ought to worship. Jesus said to her, you see,
-
the real question in her heart had to do with worship.
-
You see, because if the Jews are right in saying
-
and that the only place you can worship is in Jerusalem.
-
You know what it was saying, all of you here
-
in Samaria have got no hope. All of you in
-
Samaria are dead because you cannot worship here. God is
-
not listening to you. You know what Jesus was saying.
-
I want you to know I heard you, and I
-
want you to know you have a place to worship.
-
It's called your heart. Jesus said to her, I have
-
to do this woice again because it's very important. Woman,
-
Believe me, the hour is coming when you will neither
-
on this mountain nor in Jerusalem worship the Father. You
-
worship what you do not know. We know what we worship.
-
For salvation is of the Jews. But the hour is coming,
-
and now is when the true worshipers will worship the
-
Father in spirit and in truth. For the Father is
-
seeking such to worship him. God is spirit, and those
-
who worship him must worship in spirit and truth. Wow,
-
Jesus answered her question, and Jesus was telling her it's
-
not the place. You've heard it all wrong and the
-
people who've been telling you are all wrong. Yes, salvation
-
is from the Jews because I am Jewish, I was
-
born a Jew. But I want you to know that
-
you can worship the Lord. I want you to know
-
you can be saved. I want you to know I
-
came for this purpose that you can be saved. And
-
how can you be saved? Worship Me in spirit and
-
truth in your heart, Think about me in your heart,
-
Pray to me, and you'll be saved. Did you see
-
this Jesus coming all this way to attend to one
-
person who had a burning question in her heart, and
-
it was about worship. How many you have got questions
-
in your heart? Burning questions in your heart. My Bible
-
tells me, cockroach there, maybe one of the guys want
-
to come and get rid of it is bothering. Okay, okay,
-
there you go. You know, this is the house of
-
the Lord, and things like this should never interrupt the Word.
-
The fact that it interrupted me meant it needed to
-
be dealt with. So if any cockroach feels that it
-
can walk while someone is preaching the Word, its life
-
has ended. So you see it. This is what God's
-
trying to get to us. This is what God just
-
wants to open our hearts to see that He has
-
been yearning to come and meet you and I where
-
we need to be met, so that he can answer
-
our questions and let us know it's going to be okay.
-
That's what he was telling the woman. It's going to
-
be okay because Jesus told her, you come and drink
-
from me, you'll be satisfied. It's I I am the
-
one who satisfy you. And then now comes the ultimate question.
-
The woman said to him, I know that the Messiah
-
is coming, who is called the Christ. When he comes,
-
he will tell us all things. I love Jesus answer,
-
Jesus said to her, I who speak to you? Amy?
-
Do you realize this was a woman who had five husbands.
-
This is a woman who was living with someone who
-
was not a husband, living out of wedlock, and Jesus
-
came all this way to reveal himself to her. Hey,
-
do not look on anyone as someone not worthy to
-
receive Jesus's lord and say, well, you see somebody, go
-
and share Jesus with them the same way Jesus came
-
to share with this woman. I love the Disciples. Okay,
-
they got an impeccable sense of timing. They always come late.
-
See at this point where Jesus revealed himself to her,
-
this is elect real climatic moment. You know, this is
-
the moment, the moment where you know, it's like Luke
-
Skywalker firing the missile that goes down in Burst the
-
Death Star, the climatic moment. It's the most important moment
-
of the movie. And then, like the class clowns, the
-
Disciples come and they marveled when he talked to a woman.
-
This part tells me that it was not Jesus custom
-
to talk to a woman alone, especially he didn't normally
-
do it. All the more he tells me how special
-
this event was, how meaningful this event was, how extraordinary
-
this event was. Yet no one asked him, what do
-
you seek? Or why are you talking to nobody there
-
Jesus question. Then the woman left the water pot and
-
went into the city and said to the men, one
-
encounter with Jesus where he reveals himself to you and
-
I that one encounter where he revealed himself to the woman.
-
You know what it happened. When happened, it made that
-
woman an evangelist. One encounter, and she became imagine what
-
happens when we have that kind of encounter with the Lord?
-
What power houses, what batteries, what lights? We will be
-
to those around us? And you say, oh, I can't
-
do it. You and I can't do it. With Jesus,
-
we can do all things through Christ. Sus strengthens us.
-
The woman then left the water pot when the city
-
and said to the man, come and see a man
-
who told me all the things I had ever done?
-
Could this be the Christ? You see her? Remember? I
-
said that? You know? She answered correctly. He asked the question,
-
that was the thing or the statement or the happening
-
that she was going to use to bring people to
-
the Lord. Could this be the Christ? Is not really?
-
Could this be the Christ? Could this be the Christ
-
you're looking for? Because this is the Christ I have found. See,
-
English is a very limited language. And how do we
-
know that? Because look at what they say. She must
-
have been so convincing. Hey, look, you know this is
-
what happened. He is a jewy. It's come to be
-
with us. He told me everything that I ever did.
-
Then they went out the city and came to him,
-
and again the disciples do get it. In the meantime,
-
his disciples urge him, saying, Rabi eat, But he said
-
to them, I have food to eat, which you do
-
not know. Then, So therefore the disciples said to one another,
-
has anyone brought him anything to eat? They also miss it.
-
That's why he had to spend more time with them.
-
He only needed to spend one day with a woman.
-
Within a few minutes, she was changed. Disciples. He had
-
to spend more time with them because they were a
-
little bit slower. You know, I'm like the disciple, a
-
little bit slower, So he's got to speak to me
-
a lot. But you know, there's some people that one time,
-
who the world is changed? You get I'm saying, it's
-
all kinds of people, Okay, all kinds of people. Jesus
-
said to them, my food is to do the will
-
of him who send me, and to finish his work.
-
You see, Jesus concentrated on God's work. He wanted to
-
do what God told him to do, and to him
-
that was important. Do you find him taking a drink
-
of water? Do you find him drinking water? Was he
-
interested in the water? He wasn't. He was interested in
-
doing God's work. And now many of the Samaritans of
-
that city believed in him because the word the woman
-
who testified, he told me all that I ever did.
-
Do you realize that they hadn't even seen Jesus, but
-
because of what this woman said, they believed you and I.
-
When we accepted the Lord, had we seen Jesus or
-
we listen to what somebody said and we begin to believe.
-
You remember that testimony I told you about that person
-
who was dying who said, I will not accept the
-
Lord unless I see him. And then the Lord gave
-
that that question do you play badminton? And after that
-
question he accepted the Lord you see, it's not about seeing.
-
When you speak what's in your heart the truth, people
-
will here listen to this man. So he told me
-
all the time. And so when the Samaritans had come
-
to him, they urged him to stay with them, and
-
he stayed there two days. Jesus stayed in a landa
-
that they was not supposed to stay. He stayed at
-
to mo days. You know why they were interested to hear.
-
You want the Lord to stay with you. You want
-
the Lord to linger with you. Be interested in what
-
he has to say. It's as simple as that. Be
-
interested in what he has to say. And they urged
-
him to stay in his stead, and many more believe
-
because of his own word. But then now they say
-
to this woman, now we believe not because of what
-
you said, for we ourselves have heard him, and we
-
know that this is indeed the Christ, the Savior of
-
the world. That means that's why I was telling you,
-
could this be the Christ? Actually, you see what it
-
says here. We know that this is indeed the Christ,
-
the Savior of the world. The woman had told them,
-
I have met Christ, the Savior of the world. See
-
this is how you understand the whole conversation because the
-
people were now saying, it's not because of what you said.
-
Just because of what you said, we believe for ourselves.
-
We believe in him because of what you said. Now,
-
because we have a relationship with him, we believe for ourselves.
