You're listening to a message to go from AXS Church.
-
We hope this message will light up your.
-
TEA disciples that honor? Okay, we are in a team
-
of discipleship, and I think one of the things that
-
just recently, this one caught my spirit is are we
-
a disciple that knows how to honor? You? Think about it? Right?
-
So I have a few questions to ask you. First
-
question is are you a person who honors? A bit
-
of a reflectioner, let's get realized you can answer. You
-
don't have to say to me like you just think
-
about it. Are you truly a person who honors? And
-
this is not I say of myself? Is what other
-
people see of you? Right? If someone takes a snapshot
-
of who you are right now, would they say you're
-
actually this person very honoring? I know Passa Elvin is
-
a very honoring person. This is my encounter with him.
-
Are you a person who shows honor? Who do you
-
honor them? Right? So if you say yes, I'm a
-
person who knows how to honor, then my question is
-
who is it that you usually honor? And the final
-
question for you to think about is how do you
-
honor or? How do you show honor. Are we okay?
-
So far can I can? I? Okay? So track with me,
-
track along with me in this okay, So let's move
-
on to the next light, the next light. Now the
-
question we have to ask ourself then, what is honor? Right?
-
What is honor? With we use that word a lot,
-
but what is honor? And I think today is important
-
for us to get a biblical understanding of what honor is?
-
Is that okay? Okay? So first one is the Hebrew
-
word and this is in the Old Testament when we
-
talk about Hebrew words, it's found in the Old Testament. Okay,
-
all right, And it comes from this word vote. Can
-
you say that cavote cow vote? Okay? Is this word
-
and it literally means wait or heaviness, and so just
-
not as I was backing the bag, I want to
-
find something that's very heavy, very heavy and weighty. Okay,
-
that's what it literally means. But figuratively what it means
-
is substance. Okay. Do you know what substance is, right?
-
Something that is, yeah, substance of substance, like goal goal
-
is of substance or not real substance? Right? If if
-
I can, I can give each one of you a goal,
-
but you want or not one of course, but I cannot.
-
Jesus canna not yet. Importance. It talks about honor, respect, glory,
-
and wealth, So we think about covote. It thinks about
-
wealth as well material possessions. All right, So this is
-
what car vote means. And if you, if you're the
-
type that want to study the this is a now
-
non is you know, uh something, it's a thing, it's
-
an object, but the verb of it is covert. So
-
to actually covert something means you put on honor onto
-
someone else. It means you put on weight to someone else. Right,
-
So just now I wanted to put weight to Pastor
-
Alvin and Jess and I could only put something in
-
your hands that waits something, you know what I'm saying.
-
So when you honor someone, you're actually making that person heavior.
-
Oh tell yours, tell your neighbor next to you? Can
-
I make you heavior? How do you do that? Right? Okay?
-
This is not like I hope that you put on weight. Okay,
-
so that's not all the things I get very healthy
-
and okay, fruits and and all that healthy stuff. So
-
then they won't put on weight in that physical sense,
-
but to be weighted in their spirit. All right, Now
-
let's look at the Greek words. So, now Greek word
-
is always goes to the New Testament. New Testament has
-
two ways to describe this word honor, right. First one
-
is doxa, right, can you say doxa docsa. It means honor, renowned,
-
divine quality. So this is something that's always used to
-
describe God, right and an unspoken manifestation of God's splendor. Okay,
-
can you have an imagination? Now? Do you have a
-
picture in your mind? What glory means, what honor means.
-
And another word for to use this word honor to
-
describe this word is something called tim may Okay, not
-
tim or time all right. The Greek word for it
-
is tim ay, and what it means is to honor,
-
to value, to respect, to hold something or someone in
-
high esteem. Okay, do you do you? Are you tracking
-
with me so far? Okay? So this is what it
-
means to honor. So coming back again, think about it recently, Okay,
-
what just happened in KL last week, last week and
-
of October, as say on summit, right, you all know
-
about it, and what happened on the roads and in
-
Kale and all that, it was all close right to
-
make way for the dignitaries, right, you cannot enter, and
-
so there was a lot of palm and flair to honor.
-
The dignitary is current on. So there's always something that
-
you do to honor. You don't just say I honor someone,
-
very easy to say bailiff service, right, but you realize
-
that honor is something that results in an action, something
-
that you do to show someone that you're really honoring. Right,
-
There's there's always an action to it. So I'm gonna
-
get deeper, So track with me, all right. So that
-
is what honor is is. So have an idea like, okay,
-
do I think about it? Do you really honor each other?
-
Do you honor people around you? And we're gonna see
-
some categories of what God teaches us about honor? Are
-
you okay? All right? So what does God tell us
-
about honor? So let's go. You can find this firstly
-
in the next let's go to the next light. Now,
-
the first time or at least the word cop vote
-
was mentioned is in Exodus chapter thirty three, right, don't
-
know what happens in Exodus Chater chapter thirty three, when
-
Moses was leading the people of Israel, right, they were
-
trying to He was trying to lead them into the
-
Promised Land. And of course God says, are yo, these
-
people are young man. He didn't say that. He says,
-
these people are so rebellious and stiff neck. I don't
-
want to go with them any longer. And you know
-
that that was after so many times God has given
-
them chances. Right, And if you think, oh, you're God
-
not fair, God, very unkind. No, God has given them
-
so many chances, and they continuously rebelled against him because
-
they are just wicked. Right. And then God says to Moses, Moses,
-
you lead the people, are right? I don't want to
-
go already? Yo, got's you here? They God get offended. No,
-
God says, why do I continue to walk with them
-
when they don't want to listen to me? True or not?
-
If you have been a shepherd, a leader, you know
-
you sometimes you lead your sheep and they are so stubborn,
-
stubborn like anything, you also feel like, ah, if you
-
don't want to follow my way and just go your
-
own way? Right, It was almost to that extent, and
-
God was saying and Moses the man of God. He says, no, God,
-
if you do not follow us, if your presence do
-
not go with us, I won't go. This is your people, okay,
-
not my people. All right. So Moses interceded for the
-
people to God on behalf of the people. And that's
-
how much she loved them, as much as they were
-
rebellious and wicked. And so that's what he says. Okay.
-
So God says, I don't want to go with you,
-
but Moses says, I will not go without you. And
-
so this is the context of what's happening here right now,
-
all right, Okay, So let's read now Exodus t litree,
-
verse eighteen. He says, and he said, please show me
-
y'r show me y'all, show me your glory. So he
-
wanted to see the coupboat of God, right, the substance
-
of God. He wanted to have the tangible manifestation of
-
who God is. Any of you want to see God's glory? Yeah,
-
yeah you do, okay, I only some of you are.
-
The rest of you like wire think about it, okay.
-
So then he said, this is God's say, God saying
-
I will make all my goodness pass before you. Well,
-
God is almost equating the glory of God to his goodness.
-
You know, right? Can you see the contexts? Can you
-
link it together? He says, I will make all my
-
goodness to pass before you, and I will proclaim the
-
name of the Lord before you. I will be gracious
-
to whom I will be gracious, and I will compassion
-
on whom I have compassion. But he said, and this
-
is what God said, you cannot see my face, for
-
no man shall see me and live. And the Lord say,
-
here is a place by me, and you shall stand
-
on the rock, and it shall be while my glory
-
passes by. That I will put you in the cleft
-
of the rock and will cover you in my hand
-
while I pass by. Then I will take away my
-
hand and you shall see my back, but my face
-
shall not be seen. Amen. So you see now there
-
is this part about honor and glory of the Lord
-
which Moses really wanted to see, right, But God says no,
-
because you are unclean, and therefore if you see the
-
holiness of who God is, you will die. All right.
-
That is the context of what honor means in this
-
how it's used being used here. Okay, all right, so
-
let's move on to the next next light. Now this
-
other way is being used. And you know that this
-
is the vision of X corying on. If you you know,
-
and if you know, you've been around for a while,
-
this is what makes us who we are as ex Church.
-
So shall we declare this together in three two one
-
for the earth will be filled with the knowledge of
-
the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea. Amen. Ultimately,
-
all we are working towards right is to partner with
-
God so that the whole of XPJ and in pj
-
LA and in puttaling Jaya and beyond will be filled
-
with what the knowledge. So there needs to be an understanding.
-
So I'm hoping you will catch these guys. You will
-
catch the knowledge of what it means of the glory
-
of the Lord. As the water covers the sea. Do
-
you know that God's honor and God's glory covers the
-
face of the earth. Do you know that it's just
-
that some of us do not recognize it. He already
-
covers His glory, already covers everything that's upon the earth.
-
It's just that we fail to acknowledge that because there
-
is no knowledge. Right. Hello, if there is no knowledge,
-
then you cannot acknowledge. Do you see what I'm saying?
-
If you have no knowledge, then you cannot acknowledge who
-
God is. If you have no knowledge of who God is,
-
you won't acknowledge that he is Christ. Right, So, guys,
-
we are in the business of bringing this knowledge of
-
the glory of God to cover as it already does,
-
to bring understanding to the heart and the minds of people.
-
Is that okay? All right? Would you be able to
-
explain this to your mom? Now? All right? It still
-
seems a bit vague, Right, How do I go about
-
doing this? All right? How do I express this? And
-
so let's go on to the next part of it?
-
How do we do it? Now? I want to bring
-
to you some principles of honor? Is that okay? Right?
-
So we talk a lot about honor and and we
-
want to see what is God's teaching us from the scripture? Right?
-
This is not me, This is not pass Canda. This
-
is what the Word of God teaches us about the
-
principles or of honor. Who do we honor? How do
-
we honor? Is that? Okay? Do you want do you
-
want to show honor on? Yes? Ah? Then can you say,
-
oh yes? And amens please, that's the first place to start, right.
-
Do you know, like I say, honor, right, you're not
-
honoring me. I'm not asking for the honor. The honor
-
goes to God. Hello. Do you see what I'm saying? Okay?
-
So you actually have an active participation even right now
-
to show honor. Okay. And this is again, it's not
-
about me. It's not about the leaders about you might think,
-
oh yeah, this elder Rosa so like to combu own
-
whatever inflat your own ego? Right? Oh yeah, what should mean? No?
-
This is God's principle okay. And the reason why we
-
want to teach you this principle is because simply it
-
is God's command, it is his word, right, and we
-
say we want to be disciples. Disciple means what you
-
follow God, right, you follow his way, you follow his word,
-
you follow his teachings. Is that okay? Yeah? Okay, So
-
let's go first up. First up, of course, the first
-
very person that we honor is who the Lord? Nah? Hello,
-
this one, pop? Queiz? Don't it y'all get this ready? Right?
-
He deserves all honor, he deserves all glory, all right.
-
And you can see in Psalms twenty two. And by
-
the way, this sum was written by David. And you know,
-
sometimes you might think, ah, yeah, it's just poetry. A yeah,
-
it's just you know, a nice to think. But do
-
you know that this is a command of the Lord.
-
It's a commandment of the Lord. Okay, So can we
-
read what this says? All right? In three two one,
-
give unto the Lord, Oh, you mighty ones, give unto
-
the Lord glory and strength. Give unto the Lord the
-
glory due to his name. Worship the Lord in the
-
beauty of holiness. Do you know when we honor God
-
is simply because he deserves it. It belongs to him.
-
Any honor, any glory, just belongs to him. And so
-
what the Bible teaches is give to God what belongs
-
to him. Right, you remember in earlier parts. Later on
-
in Matthew, Jesus says, you know this coin, this inscription,
-
whose face is on it, Caesars. Right then he says,
-
give to Caesar what is caesars? Give to God? What
-
is God? Give honor to God because he deserves it. Amen,
-
all right, So let's go on to why it is.
-
Let's go on, he deserves it. Right. In Romans eleven,
-
thirty six. It says this four of Him and true
-
Him and to Him are all things to whom be
-
glory forever. Amen. Do you know that God is the
-
source of everything in your life right now? Without him?
-
You will not be here without him. Your family will
-
not be here. Your parents will not be here without God,
-
who gives us this perfect environment you live it. Do
-
you know that the earth right is so special that
-
it's position in a way that do you know that
-
if we move like maybe two inches closer to the
-
sun we will all burn to death? Do you know
-
that if we move two inches further away from the sun,
-
we will all freeze to death? It is how magnificent
-
God is that he designed and created the earth with
-
its oxygen and its atmosphere that we can all live.
-
Do we acknowledge that God is the one who did
-
all this? Yeah, so we need to give God glory
-
and honor because it is through him. You think your job,
-
your businesses, you work very hard? Right Who opened the connections?
-
Who gave you favor with authorities? You think it was
-
all your own who gave you health to go to work.
-
Yesterday we revisited someone who had just gone through a
-
breast cancer surgery, and you know, we were just marveling
-
at how God had sustained her life. And she's young,
-
you know, she's probably in her late thirties, early forties.
-
That's young. And we take our life for granted, right,
-
thinking that whoa, you know, we have so much. Everything
-
is you know, in our control. But can I tell
-
you guys, it's not in our control. It is in
-
God's control. Right. So all things, in all things, we
-
give honor and glory to God. Now, revelations for like
-
go all the way to the end of the Word
-
of God. It says this, you are worthy of God.
-
This is what we're all about. Church. If you do
-
not catch anything, remember that God deserves your honor. Yeah,
-
God deserves all honor. He says, you are worthy a
-
lot to receive glory and honor and power. For you
-
created all things, and by your will they exist and
-
were created. So can we acknowledge that God created all things? Amen?
-
And that means He created us, and so we are
-
made in such an image that we were made to
-
worship God and to honor Him. Amen. All right, let's
-
move on. He deserves it comes. Do you know why
-
I love this? And I want you to catch this
-
as a principle to live by as disciples of Jesus Christ.
-
Do you know that, na, if you follow this command
-
and this principle of honor, it comes with a promise.
-
You're like promises from God? Right? Yeah? Okay, some of
-
you like, some of you like not sure, it says,
-
but now the Lord says, far be it from me.
-
For those who honor me, I will honor. This is
-
coming directly from the word of God. He says in Samuel,
-
those who honor me, I will honor, and those who
-
despise me shall be lightly esteemed. Do you want to
-
be heavily esteem or likely esteem? Lightly esteem means baba,
-
don't care, not weighty at all. But God, can you
-
see this? God says, this is God's principle. I don't.
-
I don't know how this will sound to you, But
-
God says, if you choose to honor God right now,
-
right here, God will honor you. What a privilege. You know.
-
It's not something that I'm like, Wow. Do you know?
-
God is like, Okay, you're just honored me. Lah, you know,
-
because it is true that he deserves it and we
-
don't deserve any honor. Back. But God is saying, if
-
you choose to honor me, I want to honor you.
-
That is the kind of God that we serve. He
-
is almost reciprocal in that sense, right, because actually we
-
don't deserve do we deserve honor? If you if you
-
you have an honest realization about who we are as
-
human beings who have forsaken the Lord, who have denied him,
-
who have destroyed the earth. And you say, how am
-
I destroying the earth? You know? I recycle my garbage?
-
Do you use a con last night? God on, did
-
you drive your car? Here? He hybrid? Whatever? Lah? Everything
-
that we do is destroying the earth. You know, I'm
-
just honest, right, our carbon footprint, we are not really
-
helping with the atmosphere. Our businesses. I don't know how
-
many of your businesses really is helping the environment or
-
destroying it. I mean, there's this whole discussion now about AI, right,
-
how AI is going to change and transform our lives?
-
And do you know that they need data centers? And
-
of course in the recent bilateral trade agreement, our prime
-
ministers say, oh, come investment, come and do data center.
-
But do you know how much water and electric electricity
-
it will consume and and you know already we are
-
so hot, right, Hello? Has it been really crazy hot
-
this past one way crazy hot? Right? Then you have
-
your data centers right there generating more heat because they
-
need water to cool down all the computer systems, right,
-
and so we are being hot, right, And of course
-
we're on Ekona, which you know emits all this carbon dioxide.
-
And yet at the same time, all these data centers
-
are creating all this heat that needs water to cool down.
-
And it's a it's a it's quite crazy. You know.
-
There's like the amount of water and electricity it needs
-
to generate something. You don't know the these kind of things, right,
-
You're just like, I want to check you bty do
-
everything for me, right, And there's all these ripercussions, and
-
like it or not, we are not helping our earth
-
one bit. And so but you see the thing is,
-
God says, even though you have done all this, even
-
though you know you have seen and blessing the children
-
of Israel continue to rebel against him. He says, I'm
-
still looking you know, hello church expj. God is looking around,
-
and he's saying, those who honor me, I'm just waiting
-
to honor you back. God is waiting to honor you.
-
Many of us don't want that because we don't know
-
the word of God. And God's word says, if you
-
choose to honor me, I will honor you. So let's
-
do or some practical I wanted to be very practical
-
for all of us. Okay. Can you tell me how
-
you can honor God? Okay? So give me some examples
-
of what honoring God looks like. Because I say this
-
word honor, right, but can you give me some expressions
-
of this word honor? I'm looking firstly at the first row.
-
Come on, leaders, tell me how do you honor God?
-
Come early to church? Amen? Do you know timeliness and
-
punctuality talks a lot about how you respect other people's time.
-
It's not about you. Do you see that when I
-
choose to come early, I'm showing honor to others who
-
are already there and we have agreed to you. You're
-
giving honor to the agreement that we are gonna come
-
here early to pray, to intercede, to arrange chares. I
-
don't know what you do, but you come here to prepare.
-
You see that an expression of honor when you come great,
-
what else? What else? Give me? Dressing up? Okay, this
-
is something that we believe here because you know, we say,
-
if you're gonna dress up your best not to see
-
Donald Trump? You were coming your sleeper? Is it in
-
your shots Bermuda shots? Because very comfortable. By the way,
-
if you're wearing that now, I'm not knocking you. Okay,
-
I cannot see. I canno see what I'm wearing right now.
-
But I'm just saying, what is the attitude that comes
-
behind the dressing? Do you see that I cannot see
-
your heart? Lad like I would love to say, I
-
can see this heart actually very honoring. When I cannot,
-
I can see the expressions of behavior. So one of
-
it is to say, hi, yo, you know this is
-
really not my stylar, jacket and suit and thought oh
-
so old school, But because I honor the leadership, I'll
-
put it on. Will it kill you? Guys? Is it
-
gonna kill you? You put on a tie and a suit? No? Right,
-
So one thing we're worshiping just now right, I think
-
God reminded me to say this principle of honor. Right
-
is not about your comfort. It's not about your convenience,
-
you know, many things. I'm like, it's not me to
-
lift out my hands, la. You know I'm not comfortable.
-
It's not me, it's not my personality. My personality is
-
this as I worship the Lord? Right, and God is
-
saying it's a command. It's not about your comfort, it's
-
not about your convenience. It's are you do you want
-
to show me honor or not? Again, it's up to you,
-
and no, do you want to show God honor? You're
-
not performing in front of us. Seriously, It's okay when
-
hu are wi lah? Right, We're just servants of the Lord.
-
But what we want to give you and equip you
-
is the principles that will make you blessed. Amen. Do
-
you want to be blessed or not? You want to
-
live overwhelming, victorious life. And this is a principle. And
-
if you forget, you forgot a principle like this, right,
-
then you cannot say I don't know why my life
-
is in a messa some things. Right. The word of
-
God will use to check us and say have you
-
been honoring? Have you honored me as I deserve it? Amen?
-
Let's move on. It's a promise. Right, Oh okay, oh
-
all right? What I love about the New Testament is
-
that you know before that we talk about Moses, right,
-
he wanted to see the glory of God, but he
-
couldn't because God says, you know, my holiness will overwhelm you,
-
and you cannot take God's holiness and righteousness. And so God,
-
in his mercy he sent his son Jesus, and this
-
is what John says. And the word became flash and
-
dwelt among us, and we behelped his glory, the glory
-
as of the only begotten Father, full of grace and truth.
-
And his name is Jesus. Do you know that Jesus
-
is the embodiment of the glory of God. He deserves
-
all honor. And that's why we pray in the name
-
of Jesus. And that's why we worship Jesus. Amen, because
-
he is the embodiment of the glory of God. It's
-
revealed already. So you want to say I want to
-
see God's glory? Can I tell you? Yes, you can.
-
His name is Jesus, Amen. And so how do we
-
practice this? Right? How do we practice this? And one
-
of the ways is already God has given you. See,
-
God is so good that he lays down all the
-
steps for us to obey, right, and we just need
-
to learn how to walk in it. What is the
-
first commandment of God? In the ten you know the
-
ten Commandments? What is the first one? Okay, we're worried
-
out here. You don't seem to know. Okay, tell me again,
-
someone loudly, that one is a New Testament summary. I
-
want the Old Testament one out of Yeah, you shall
-
you shall have no Ah the God. Okay, all right,
-
are we Okay? You shall have no other God before me,
-
which is, let's move on to the next slide. You
-
shall have no other gods before me. And this, in
-
a sense, God is trying to tell all of us,
-
the children of Israel and today for us as well,
-
that the way we honor him, how do we do
-
it that we put him as priority? Yeah, saying that
-
no other gods means there is only one God, Corona,
-
there is only one God to worship and to honor
-
and to serve. There's only one God. And if we
-
can obey this commandment, and this is what Jesus taught
-
us right in the New Testament, that love the Lord
-
with all your heart, all your mind, all your soul,
-
and all your strength. That's the first commandment that if
-
we obey this part of it, we are showing honor
-
to God. We are giving him weight. Do you know that?
-
How do we give God weight in a practical sense? Now,
-
you tell me how do we really put God first
-
in our lives? Can someone tell me? Just shut out
-
different answers? What do you understand about putting God first?
-
Trusting in him? Yes, you trust in him? Meaning if
-
you're going through a really, really, really horrible situation right now,
-
how we honor God? Is we say God, I think
-
you know the answer. I'm gonna trust in you. That's
-
do you know that's very honoring to God? Because if
-
you don't confess that in you don't do that. What
-
you're saying is, I'm gonna handle this situation on my own. Right,
-
How else do you put God first? How else we
-
put God first? Pray? Pray? What what happens in prayer? Right? Prayer? Firstly? Right?
-
Do you know that when you actually pray, you're firstly
-
acknowledging agree or not. You acknowledge firstly that there is
-
a God and you need his help. That's what prayer is. Right?
-
Do you know that God already knows what you need.
-
And then sometimes you say, God, you know everything? You
-
really like? Why I need to tell you? Do you
-
think God really needs you to tell him he knows everything?
-
But what the act of praying is an act of humility.
-
It's saying that God, I need you, and therefore I
-
love it that the althar is packed with people acknowledging
-
God is you know? Sometimes we don't shy. I don't
-
account for prayer because the people know that I have
-
a problem. Hello, ha, Can I tell you all of
-
us got problems. It's just that we don't want to
-
bring it to God because we think we can handle it. So,
-
no matter how big how small your challenges are, can
-
I encourage you to pray about it? Pray? Just acknowledge? God?
-
Are you my child? I don't know why so stubborn? Pray?
-
Pray right? Of course you talk about it? Will it
-
resolve anything? Not? Might as well ask the one who
-
created your son or your daughter? Pray, God, why Ladetta?
-
What can I do? Lord? Dealing with bosses? Are your? God?
-
Why Ladetta? Pray? Are you my daughter? I don't know
-
how God? God, you created her? Right? Can you fix her?
-
Pray?
-
Just acknowledge and bring God. Do you know what is
-
very very honoring is right when we remember, when we acknowledge,
-
we remember, right? I mean many times we forget correct
-
not so I'm here right, this is not something you
-
don't know, but I'm just here to remind you. Will
-
you put this practice of remembering God, acknowledging Him in
-
your daily life every time? You know, don't just remember?
-
Got three times of the daily Thank you love for breakfast,
-
thank you love for lunch, thank you love for dinner. Amen.
-
That's it, right, that's all we go to God for.
-
Thank you, Lord, Thank you Lord, thank you? And oh God,
-
I need a promotion. Thank you? But what is that relationship? Right,
-
is a dynamic relationship. We don't preach a religion about
-
what you do what you don't do, but it's about
-
having that in personal relationship. Some of you have very
-
good relationship with your parents. You know what that is, right,
-
But many of us don't even know what that looks
-
like because our relationship your parents is not the greatest example.
-
But can I tell you that in God, God allows
-
us to go him far. You know it's not just
-
al Mighty God, Lord of Heaven's armies, but we can
-
call him father. Ah bah da dy Daddy. Do you
-
know your children right? You know when they are so
-
close to you, they just run after you. Daddy anytime, Daddy,
-
I want to say it on your head, daddy, carry
-
me on your shoulder, Daddy. That is who God is
-
to us. He's our daddy. Do you treat him like
-
a daddy or you're like, oh God, you stay there,
-
I stay here. This is my life. Okay. When I
-
need you, I'll tell you. This is adulter by the way.
-
Adult children like that one right, like Mom, it's okay,
-
I got it all in the control. When I need
-
money that I'll tell you. Otherwise I can control my life. Okay,
-
Let's not be children like that to God. Let's always
-
be the ones we trd like faith like ah yo,
-
small things, run to God, acknowledge him. That's how we
-
honor him. Do you know? Right? Okay, I'm gonna share
-
because my daughter's not here. So she she's a young
-
lady of sixteen years old. She thinks she knows everything. Yeah. So,
-
so recently we've been having this conversation about studies and
-
all that, and so so I was asking her how
-
things and she just got back a semester results, right,
-
and so I'm like, oh yeah, this subject a bit tough. Right.
-
So she's struggling a little bit with one of the sciences.
-
I say, okay, so it is anything that can help,
-
and you know what she said, It's okay, mom, you
-
don't know anything. My teachers know because they've been trained
-
teaching me. So if I need anything, I'll go to
-
my teachers because you don't know anything. Do you know
-
how hurt I was and not? Even though I don't
-
know the principles of Bernoli or whatever in physics, I
-
still want to help La. You know what I'm saying. Not.
-
Do you know? It's not so much that I want
-
to really like interfere in her studies, but I want
-
to feel needed. Do you know what I'm saying? Parents,
-
I want to feel involved, that I still matter, that
-
I can still, like, you know, support you in some
-
way if if not, like I want to go for
-
tuition or what, you know, the kind of thing. I
-
want to feel that I can still support you. But
-
then no, excuse, it's okay, mom, If I need you,
-
and I'll tell you that. Oh so I had to
-
release and surrender, then God, I hope I'm not like
-
that with you. Yeah, I hope I don't have that
-
kind of same attitude with you that I think I've
-
got it all under control. But do you know it's
-
nice being needed. Yeah, it's not an ego stroke. Can
-
I tell you it's not an ego stroke. It's just
-
really saying I want to help you. I want to
-
be there for you. And God is like that, Hello, Church,
-
we serve a God who says, hey, I'm thinking about you.
-
I'm waiting, I'm looking around that those who will look
-
to me because I really want to help you. I
-
got all these resources, you know, I don't know what
-
to do with it. I just want to pour into
-
your life. But you don't want my help? Then how
-
you know? The last thing I want to be right
-
is a parent that I help you no matter whatana
-
you go for this tu no matter what. And it's
-
not appreciated at all. And God's like saying, He's not
-
like that. He's gentleman enough, like, if you want my help,
-
I'm here. Sometimes even if you don't want my help,
-
I will still save you. That's the kind of good
-
God we have. Amen, let's move on now. I want
-
to move on to the second category of how we
-
honor others. So do we agree that there's many ways
-
to honor God? Many ways? Do you worship him in
-
a way that honors him? And for me, right, one
-
of the great things that I realize is when I
-
worship him, right, I want to be so unashamed and
-
abandoned things to you know, whatever people will think of me. Like,
-
you know, the thing that I remember is David. He
-
dones undignified before the Lord because he knew how to
-
honor God. He knew that God deserved it for the one,
-
and he knew that whatever I want to give is
-
just not In Psum seven, he says, give to him
-
your strength. Right? Hello, some of you are you go
-
to the football concert, football concert, football competition or whatever
-
you go to concert? You give more energy to the
-
singer than you give to God. You jump more than
-
you jump for God. Hey, I'm just being real A
-
of course, we don't go to concerts anymore outday. I
-
don't know what you go for. But where do you
-
channel your energy, your excitement, your passion, your time too? Amen?
-
Thank you for that, right, Like like it too hard
-
for us to say yes and amen? You know and
-
That's why I want to drill this into you today.
-
Can you give your yes an amen or not to God?
-
It's not to me because when you see that, you're saying,
-
I agree with this principle God, I agree with you
-
that you deserve the honor. And so that's why I
-
make it a point to say, no matter what the
-
worship leader is singing, no matter what song, I will
-
sing and give my best. It's not unto the worship leader.
-
I'm giving unto God. Man, I don't care what other
-
people think about me. I want to dance. I'm gonna
-
raise my hand antie. I'm soord by it because God,
-
you deserve me. You deserve it, right, So this is
-
like I'm training for me, and I'm like, okay, yes,
-
I'm training. You want you get torn arms? Yeah, I
-
can show you. I shouldn't know. I got my so
-
on okay, from lifting your hands to worship the Lord.
-
Come on, guys, but when we say we honor God,
-
can you show it? Do you really show that you
-
mean business with God? Right? And again, we are not
-
here to police you, you know, and God knows that's
-
all that matters, all right. So now, parents, parents, this
-
is another category that God teaches us that we should
-
learn how to honor. Okay, let's read the first one
-
first in three two one. Honor your father and your
-
mother so that you may live long in the land
-
the Lord, your God is giving you. This is one
-
of the commandments of God. It's a sixth commandment.
-
Right.
-
The first one was and no, this is the fourth one.
-
First one was you shall have no other gods. And
-
God honors parents so much auh that he included it
-
in the ten commandments. You know that means parents and
-
speaking to you, God sees you, and can I speak
-
to the rest of us children? God also sees you.
-
How you honor or you dishonor your parents. This is
-
the first commandment with a promise, and he promises that
-
you will have a long life if you choose to
-
honor God. Honor God by honoring your parents. It's true. Right,
-
you see this principle. Right? Some people say, what if
-
I very bad abusive parents, violent parents. He didn't say,
-
honor your parents if they provide for you and overseas education.
-
Do you see that. Honor your parents if they can
-
give you branded shoes. Honor your parents if they know
-
how to say I love you. Honor your parents. You
-
know if if yeah, they gave you the best childhood
-
of your life, did they say that or not? No?
-
It was just a pure, straight up commandment, just honor
-
your parents. And it doesn't have an condition attached to it.
-
We are very conditional people. I know if you honor
-
me that I honor you. Bagla, you scratch my back,
-
I scratch your bag right. But this is a commandment
-
that says God's way is like blanket or not. You
-
should have no other gods. If you have other gods
-
means you're dishonoring me blankets straight up. The commandment says,
-
honor your parents. If you don't, you might have a
-
long a short life.
-
Right.
-
Ephesians six wanted Tree says, children, obey your parents in
-
the lot for this is right. Some of us ask,
-
what's the right thing to do? What is God's will
-
for my life? I tell you thisla, obey your parents, right.
-
But now I just don't need to caveat in a
-
sense that if your parents ask you to go and
-
drink poison nolah, Hello, does that make sense or not?
-
Because then you say your elder will say I must
-
obey you. Know because this is right. So I definitely
-
mistake that poison. No, I'm not saying that. I'm saying
-
where it's you know, in a way that does not
-
dismiss the commandments of the Lot or the teachings of
-
the Lot. You obey them because many times it's about
-
our preference, right, It's about what I like, what I
-
don't like, you know, and we are different generations, our
-
communication is different, and so we go through things like that.
-
But we can we agree that this is a principle.
-
How can we honor our parents? Can you share with
-
me some practical ways? Sorry, talk to them? I love it. Hello,
-
When was the last time you spoke to your parents?
-
Because many of us, you know, we lave such busy lives, right,
-
and then yeah, our parents live their own lives and
-
we love One of the ways that we actually choose
-
to honor them is spending time. Spend time with them.
-
That that's how you know, why are because time is
-
your most precious possession, true or not, And if time
-
is your most pressured possession, choosing to give it to
-
your parents is a sign of honor. Can I tell
-
you the principle of honor is always from a position
-
of giving, yes or not, I have to give something
-
of myself to show honor. When I lift out my
-
hands before the Lord, I'm giving energy, I'm giving comfort,
-
I'm giving you know, people will look at me where
-
I am giving all of this so that God deserves.
-
Do you know when you honor someone, you always put
-
on that weight on that person and you become lighter,
-
true or not, otherwise you will carry all the glorila.
-
But you're saying no. When I honor someone, I choose
-
to give. Do you know when you give your ties
-
and offering, you are honoring God because you gave. You know,
-
the act of giving is honoring unto the Lord. And
-
God says, honor me with your possessions, right, honoring me
-
your first fruits of your possessions. And God is saying, ah,
-
you wait, you just wait. If you honor me with
-
your possessions, I'm gonna open the flat gates of heaven
-
and pour out such a blessing upon you until you
-
have no room to contain it. Whoe do you want
-
that or not? Have you been reading the word of
-
God and his promises to you? So the moment we
-
don't give, you're saying Okay, God, close the window of
-
happen upon me. Thank you. Essentially, that's it, right, when
-
we chose to give, we are coming back to the
-
principle of trusting God. I'm trusting you that God, as
-
I give in obedience to what you've led me to,
-
you will do the rest. And we've heard so many
-
countless testimonies over the years of how people give and
-
give and God never shot changes those who give in obedience. Amen.
-
It's a principle, guys. It's a principle that when we
-
learn to walk in this principle, God will prosper you
-
in all that you do. Amen. Amen. Listen to your
-
father who gave you life, and do not despise your
-
mother when she's oh, all right, So God's commandment. Okay,
-
spend time with them, can you just sometimes when they
-
say things that you don't agree, just keep quiet. Cannot
-
don't have to prove yourself right, la. I know I
-
have to bite my tongues my times, almost put those
-
really in my lips sometimes are I'm like, it's okay,
-
I choose to honor you. We are different, we think differently,
-
but I want to show you respect honor. Imen. So
-
that's one category, right parents, right when So there's a
-
reciple cloth to it. Right, when your children honor you,
-
don't exasperate them, lah, true or not? Don't provoke them.
-
That's that's difficult. Lah. Okay, I know we all like
-
to provoke our people and because they provoke us back. Right,
-
but no, So there's a principle behind it. Let's move
-
on quickly. My time is running shot. Now. Another category
-
that's very explicitly shown in the Word of God is
-
honored to our leaders and authorities. Okay, so I'm just
-
gonna read to you. Romans thirteen one to seventy says,
-
let everyone be subject to the governing authorities. The one
-
in authority is God's servant for your good. Hello. Do
-
you remember the last time you thank your homes leader,
-
your discipler. Have you submitted or you've gone against? You know?
-
Submission is honoring. Yeah, it's not easy, it's not comfortable,
-
but it's God's command you you say, where, Oh there,
-
I can give you law. Roman Statin says that God,
-
this is God's principle. God is asking us. It doesn't
-
matter whether you have a crazy We don't have that now.
-
By the praise God, our leaders are all seening guided
-
by the Holy Spirit. It says, even if you have
-
evil leaders and authorities, learn to submit. Our role is
-
to learn to submit, okay, because God will deal with
-
them separate. You think God will not judge them for
-
what they do wrongly, He will. Our place is not
-
to judge, but we need to honor and submit first.
-
Peter too says, honor everyone, love the brotherhood, Fear God,
-
Honor the Emperor. We don't have an emperor here. Honor
-
the king, or that those in authority are basically so
-
other ways of honoring is can you not speak evil
-
of them? Can I say this? Sometimes we're like, hey,
-
but you know this is the truth. We should speak
-
speak the truth in love? Can I tell you that?
-
And if you have any accusation against any leader, can
-
you bring witnesses with you? It's a biblical principle, right,
-
don't just say, hey, I saw with another girl, O,
-
what do you think he's doing with the girl? Do
-
you have any other witness or not? Before you spread
-
false rumors about others, especially your leaders. This is one
-
of the things that I really appreciate of what Passer
-
Kenneth has taught us as a leader. Says like I
-
will never speak ill of any other leader from any
-
other church as a principle. Right you you know sometimes
-
you know church? Are we get into this competition? Oh
-
you're the very big er. Oh this is a I
-
call it foolish talk. Yeah, it's foolishness. Why you want
-
to call compare instead of talking about these kind of things?
-
Why don't you talk about it? How can we improve
-
our homes? Are? Hey? How can we do board games
-
so that twenty people will come to know the Lord?
-
Hey?
-
Hello, if you want to talk, right, why don't you
-
talk things that will bring fulness into the Kingdom of God? Then?
-
Idle thought? This all idle talk, you know when you're complaining,
-
Oh yeah, this system not working, The system not working?
-
How come the likes so deal? How come the lights
-
so bright? All this is idle talk? Because really save
-
lives or not? No, you will not. Why don't we
-
focus our time, honor our time by saying I'm gonna
-
use my mind, my intelligence, my resources to focus on
-
what brings honor to God. Hello. Yes, whatever we say
-
our speech, let that be honoring. Let's move on. How
-
else can we honor leaders and authorities? This is first Timothia.
-
He's teaching the church. He's saying, the elders who direct
-
the affairs of the church well are worthy of double honor.
-
Wo Okay, so I'm elder, elder, it means I should
-
get double honor. Okay, No, no, no, no. Can I
-
just encourage you that whoever that shares the Word of God,
-
can you show honor by just saying thank you for
-
the word. I'm not asking you to do it to me.
-
I please do it with sincerity. You know. One of
-
the greatest expressions I've seen of honor is when I
-
went on a mission trip to Indonesia. In because it's
-
so it's an Indonesian culture. Right right after the service,
-
no matter who comes, those of you've been into mission
-
trip to Indonesia, Yeah, how many of you? Do you
-
know that right after the service, the whole church they
-
will line up. If it's three hundred people, three hundred
-
people will line up, so the serving team, they will
-
stand here in a line and one by one, tree
-
honor of them will come and shake your hands. Thank you,
-
thank you, thank you, thank you.
-
No.
-
Every Sunday you want to talk about showing honor, that
-
is my image of showing honor. It doesn't matter or
-
you preach well, you don't preach so well. It's not
-
about that. It's about you showing honor. It's a culture
-
of honor, right, And I love that because God's Kingdom
-
is that kind of culture where you know that Sometimes
-
we say, ah, yeah, this one I think deserves honor,
-
this one don't deserve honor. Can I tell you? The
-
principle of honor is not about whether they deserve it
-
or not. It's you. You give honor regardless of how
-
they perform or underperform. And that's why, right it says,
-
honor your parents. It's not about how they performed. It's
-
about a principle that you obey because it's God's command.
-
Do you understand what I'm saying. Yeah, it's no longer
-
about I'm looking at you, whether you deserve honor or not,
-
whether you earn my honor or not. No, honor in
-
God's eyes is something that you give, and it shows
-
to God who you are, not the person who receives
-
the honor. God is saying, ef you show honor, I
-
will show you honor. God is looking for people like that,
-
all right, and it says this remind them to be
-
subject or again not tight this again remind who remind
-
the church, Remind them to be subject to rulers and authorities,
-
to obey, to be ready for every good word. To
-
speak evil of no one. You think I said, no,
-
it's in the word of God to speak evil of
-
no one. To be peaceable? Can you be at peace
-
with everyone? Gentle? Showing all humility to all men? That
-
you know? That's why I say that this position of
-
showing honor is a position of humility. And I know
-
some of us don't like this work humility. Why should
-
I be humble? I should be honored, I should take
-
the front seat. But God says those who are last
-
shall be. That's God's principle. You know you want to
-
be first. That you be last, wrestler means there's a
-
matter who or what you're serving. I'm just serving. I
-
can be stacking chairs, i can be throwing out the rubbish.
-
It doesn't matter because I'm just honoring God through my service. Amen,
-
let's move on. So it's not just leaders and authorities,
-
Thank God, because God's principle of honor is this. Romans
-
tough Ten says this, be kindly affectionate to one another
-
with brotherly love, in honor, giving preference to one another.
-
What okay, I honestly, how many of you are competitive?
-
You're by nature? Just show me the competitive person raise
-
only one person? The rest not competitive? Right? Okay? Yeah,
-
I have to tell you I'm very competitive. Those who
-
play me in sports, they will know. I give no
-
face to nobody. I just want to win. And this
-
is something that God has taught me. And when I
-
read this version, it really blew my mind. It says
-
this in Romans top ten. Right, this is the ESV version. Right,
-
it says is love one another with brotherly affection. I'll
-
do one another in showing honor. WHOA, my dear competitive friends.
-
You want to be competitive, then you outdo us in
-
showing honor. If there's anything you want to be competitive about,
-
learn to outdo each other in showing honor. Wow. Can
-
you imagine that everyone's that I want to show you, No,
-
I want to show you hon Wow. What an honoring
-
church and a church that knows how to honor people? Honest, God,
-
do you know it's not just towards the authorities and leaders,
-
is to each other. Everyone, regardless of your status, regardless
-
of your background. Regardless of your position, I will show
-
honor to the least one of the other. Versus says,
-
you know that the parts of the body that is
-
least honorable we honor the most. Not those that it's
-
always seen, right the head and all the face, But
-
those which are hidden, those are unseen, we honor and
-
elevate those. Amen A man, Okay, So let's move on.
-
What else do I have? I love Philippines too, It says,
-
Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but
-
in loneliness of mind, let us esteem covert. This is
-
tim tim may. Let us tim may each other better
-
than ourselves. Let us hold each other in high regard.
-
Do you hold each other in high regard? I know
-
some of you don't even look at each other, right,
-
you know, come to church, you don't see anyone. Go
-
leave the church. Also, you don't see anyone. To be
-
able to regard someone highly, you need to look at
-
them first. Hello, say hello, good morning, say thank you
-
for serving extreme hoss ex kids, excuse teachers? Can we
-
esteem them highly? You think they are your servants? Is it?
-
Come on? They yeah? Excus teachers like, come on, they
-
need to be highly esteem, guys, they are serving us,
-
serving our children, and it says, yeah, those who the
-
body parts, right, Okay, so let's move on. Let's move
-
on now. Just to end with this, I'm gonna invite
-
the worship team to come on. I want to say
-
to you everything that I've shared here is from the
-
commandment of the Lord. Yes, you've seen it. You know
-
enough that enough verses to say God commands honor from
-
each one of us. But you know what, honor is
-
also a choice? Do not you one thing to say?
-
Yes and amen? Is a choice you choosing to lift
-
up your hands to God or not. It's a choice.
-
Although it's a commandment of the Lord. We choose to
-
obey all disobey, and you know what that looks like.
-
Right With obedience there is great reward from the Lord.
-
But without obedience, then there are repercussions to it. We
-
just don't see it. We think that I a nothing
-
on that there is, you know, nothing in our lives
-
that you know God will not see. Do you know
-
that God sees everything that you do or don't do?
-
Did you believe that whatever you're thinking right now, I
-
don't know what you're thinking right now. God knows every thought,
-
so I say, God, please let my thoughts be peaceable, noble, pure.
-
God knows everything, whether you're judging someone, whether you're looking
-
down someone you you know. Houriingly, you can be very
-
nice hey hey, hey, hey, but God knows your everything thought.
-
