You're listening to a message to go from at church. We hope this message
-
will light up your team. Welcome to second half of twenty twenty three.
-
Yeah. I don't know how many of you went like what what? How
-
did the first six months of twenty twenty three? You know fly by so
-
fast? Right, and you're still like catching your bread? You know,
-
I thought's January suddenly already in second half of the year. Maybe the first
-
question that I want to ask you is, you know, when you think
-
back upon the last six months, all right, when you think back upon
-
your last six months, what has been your main focus? Think about it?
-
What has been the main focus for you in the last six months?
-
Janzen jang. It's time to take pitstop checks, right, I really believe
-
that for us, as believe us, as we continue running this race of
-
faith, it's always good to stop and reflect back so that we know how
-
do we move forward? Correct? So yeah, So so this is like
-
a pit stop check for you this morning. So um, yeah, if
-
anyone want to shout out what has been your preoccupation for the last six months?
-
Anyone? Wow, this one straightway, go right deep into your heart
-
radio right, any confessions you know? What has been really on your mind
-
and on your heart over the last six months? Anyone should just shout or
-
it's just been normal? Has has life just been normal? Just chugging on
-
during the routine? Right? Right? Okay, never mind? You think
-
about it, right, because you know the answers, and you are answerable
-
for how you live your life. Right. So I'm just here as the
-
loudspeaker for God. Okay, don't blame me up. And and I've been
-
preoccupied with this taught what are we meditating on a lot of the times?
-
Right? And yesterday we had our leadership training, and we learned that actually
-
what is in our hearts is actually how we spend our time, how we
-
spend our energy, what is catching whole of our attention and our focus?
-
Correct you think about it, you might say, oh, I mean all
-
of you like Christians, You're right, and you're not just Christians, you're
-
good Christians. Right, So if I ask you it's the most important thing
-
in your life, all of you would say yeah, or only one or
-
two Christians here? If I really ask you, right, standard book you
-
know, standard textbook answer, what is the most important thing in your life?
-
What would you say? Okay, Okay, yeah, so I'm hearing
-
all the textbook answers, right, Um, you know, God, Jesus,
-
God, the Father's Son, Holy Spirit. But when I ask you
-
to break it down into your life and your routine, how much of your
-
time is spent on the most important thing in your life? Be honest,
-
be very very honest. Right. For some of us it could be three
-
hours in a week, yeah, or maybe six lah you go to homes
-
or so maybe nine hours because you can't opera survays also and out of like
-
you know, one hundred and sixty eight hours in a week, you spend
-
nine hours on the most important thing in your life. Right, So I
-
guess the question has to be, then, what takes up the majority of
-
your time and your attention and your focus and what you're worried about? Because
-
what where your heart is? There? Your treasure is. Right where your
-
treasure is, that's where your heart is. What you spend a lot of
-
time doing is actually what's important to you, right and and for me in
-
this season of my life, or at least in the mission that I'm on.
-
Um, you know, for for X Church, if you belong to
-
X and you're a partner of X, we have a vision and we have
-
a mission. Right what is our mission? What is our mission? Helping
-
people believe? Yeah, making disciples of all the nations. And I really
-
want to encourage you to sign up and be part of our Missions conference,
-
because that is why we do all that we do. Um. You know,
-
it is to follow after what Jesus has commanded us to make disciples of
-
all the nations. Right um? And just so you know, um,
-
why do I want to share this? Never mind? So um? Yeah,
-
making disciples of all the nations and that that means also sacrificing things that
-
is important to you. So um, eloping you and I So I have
-
to share this. We'll be celebrating our sixth in the anniversary wedding. Only
-
sixteen's baby, right, Um? Yeah, only only teenager Onela. I
-
know we have many before us who have gone further. Um. And I
-
think a few months ago he's like hello, um okay, my husband texting
-
me, Um, hello, um there's a mission trip that I have to
-
go to, you know, and it's on the weekend of our annistary.
-
Is it okay? Um? I might go just go right? What what?
-
What what is there to it? Right? We have like the rest
-
of our year to celebrate our anniversary. And and he's gonna leave on the
-
Thursday night on the sixth of July to go for our missions to me and
-
mar which we haven't seen our family that asks me and mar for leasting's pre
-
pandemic. So for for me is like, yeah, that's that's more important.
-
That's that's what we are called to do, right. Uh. And
-
so you know, people like, oh no, what about your quila marriage
-
is in fact, you know, missing one anniversary is not gonna shake it.
-
So so I find myself learning to think about God in a very different
-
way now in my journey as a believer. I'm not here to shout out
-
like I'm so much better than you're. Okay, please please, That's not
-
my intention. I'm just here to say that many times, a lot of
-
the decisions we make, it's a choice, correct, It's a choice,
-
and what you choose to do today will impact you two years down the road,
-
five years down the road. So that's why I'm saying, when you
-
reflect back on your last six months, right, what have you spent your
-
time on, What has your focus been today? It's a check for you
-
so that your next six months, what will that be filled with? Okay,
-
you have a choice, because at the end of December, if I
-
get if I come back here again, I might ask you again. No,
-
hey, guys, since I'll check one and in second on second July,
-
how has your second half of tnity natry been different? What? What
-
areas of your life? Do you really want to shift? Right? We
-
have a choice. So I'm telling you six months down the road, you
-
have a choice. And that starts today. And my um, my desire,
-
my you know, my something, the burden that God has put on
-
my heart, um, is to see God's people know God's word. Do
-
you hear me? Because I find that in our journey in elep people and
-
my journey in in talking to others, in discipling others, we find that
-
there is a lack of understanding of God's word. Um. And you know,
-
it's it's quite mind boggling to say that there's something you can come to
-
church all every Sunday for the rest of your life. But then when we
-
ask about basic principles of your faith and you're like, oh, I'm not
-
quite sure, right. And the mission and the mandate that's given into us
-
until twenty three which pass can shared with us, is that we want to
-
build storehouses, building storehouses. You remembered the story of Joseph, right,
-
he built storehouses and he filled it up, right, it was overflowing,
-
and then they came to be a time of famine. You know what feminists
-
right, a time of no food, lack of food. And prophetically,
-
what that means is a church. We are going through such a time where
-
right now there is an abundance of God's work. Correct, you want to
-
tune into any messages around the world, you can tune in right whatever time
-
you want to be reading God's work, you know, listening to preachers from
-
all over the world twenty four hours, you can it's it's at your doorstep.
-
But then there comes to be a time where people will be hungry for
-
the world and there will be no longer that word. Right, So that
-
means it's your responsibility and my responsibility today to equip ourselves with the word of
-
God. Okay, not just reading one verse of the day. Yeah,
-
okay, Because the thing is, I also recognize that sometimes you know,
-
we say, okay, we are led by the spirit of God. Correct,
-
we are we live under the spirit and we are led by the spirit
-
of God. But do you know what the spirit has to work with or
-
not? The essence of what the spirit works in is through the word of
-
God. If you don't hide God's word in your heart, there's nothing the
-
spirit can work with. It's empty calories, right, it's all fluff,
-
is It's little bits of pieces that you hear and you assume what that principle
-
is. But then you would really know what exactly is God's word and God's
-
will unless you go to God's word for yourself, right right, And so
-
so for me, my challenge to you is, can you, for the
-
next six months set it for yourself that I am going to be a student
-
of God's word. God gave me that this challenge many years ago when I
-
started, when I did my master's uh in in Edinburgh, so you know,
-
I was in a journey, um and and um God allowed us to
-
have this opportunity where we're I could do my master's you know for one year,
-
one food full year as a student again. And you know sometimes in
-
this stage of your life, you know you're you've been a young working it
-
out, you left school for so long, right, then for me a
-
study again you know, it's it's it's it's a whole mindset again. But
-
but I remember there was one one day when we just arrived in Edinburgh,
-
when we just started class for me, uh and in that morning, um,
-
I was getting ready to prepare my study plan. Good student, ago
-
student, I know all of your students, all right, So so trying
-
to prepare, and the voice of the spirit came and said, wow,
-
you can study the things of the world. How about you studying my word
-
because we can spend so much time. Right, you think about it.
-
On your Google search what is the thing that you search most now? Right?
-
For health freaks, it's like, oh, how to get father,
-
how to spend more time eating? There is what kind of nutrition? Da
-
da da da da da. Right, if you're really into spots or games,
-
I don't know what's the best way to win more points. I don't
-
know what is on your Google search engine. You're gonna look for your own
-
history, serious one, because what it means is you're actually putting time to
-
study that. Correct, whatever that you're interested in, you're putting in time
-
to study that. And so the challenge came to me at the time because
-
you know, I was going to study the things of the world, economy,
-
makes accounting, whatever, like leadership in NBA. Right, and the
-
challenge just came, Oh wow, you're putting so much time to studying the
-
things of the world. How about studying my word? Oh I was convicted
-
and I repented before the lab like God, I want to study your word
-
first. And from that point on, I made you know. I made
-
a vow to myself, Jade, we make vows before the Lord. But
-
I just told myself, if there is only one book left that I could
-
read every day, if there's only one slot of time that I would have
-
to read, right, I will choose the word of God over anything else.
-
I don't know. It was a personal choice for me, and I
-
pray and my desire for you is that you will also have that desire to
-
put God's word first, because no point just saying oh yeah, God's almost
-
importantly in my life and then for the rest of your week. Right,
-
you don't even meditate, you don't even read God's word. And that's why
-
questions are weak? Am I being strong? And that's why you feel that
-
there is no joy in your life. You feel that all these troubles around
-
you is like overwhelming you, putting you in despair and discouraging you, disappointing
-
you. When we don't hold on to God's truth, I mean, you
-
don't constantly feel ourselves with God's truth. That's what That's what it is,
-
you become weak. Right. I mean for all those fitness buff right,
-
I mean proteina protein right, they all say you must see a lot of
-
protein right to buff yourself up, and and you can do everything you want
-
to do. But if you don't have the protein the source to build,
-
then you'll be weak. Right, So so what are we feeding ourselves?
-
And what did Jesus say when he was tempted in the wilderness? What did
-
Jesus say, um? When when Satan asked him, you know why you're
-
hungry? Right? Faster forty have your faster forty days before? I never
-
Um, you must be hungry. And Jesus was hungry. Why don't you
-
tell these stones to turn into break or your son of God? Maya?
-
I thought you son of God? What's a powering you? What did Jesus
-
say, men shall not but by every that proceeds from the mouth of God.
-
Wow, this is Jesus, you know. Come on, if Jesus
-
needed to live on the word of God. What about us are yo?
-
Come on, we cannot la, we cannot you know, just depend on
-
what other people are teaching. We need to feed ourselves. Can I encourage
-
you? And speaking? I believe to more mature believers? Already you've been
-
in the faith. If you've been in the faith more than one year,
-
you're a long time Christian. You've already had fifty two teachings. Correct.
-
Hey, hello, assuming you come to Chesha, so you would have enough
-
Jews for you to get into God's work on your own, even a child
-
who's one year star eating soli food? Ready, what about us? Right?
-
We can no longer live on milk? So, so I want all
-
of us to just you know, really want to have a desire to get
-
into God to it. But is it challenging or not to read God to
-
it? It's not easy. It's not easy, and we hope to help
-
equip you a little bit more. Um and and okay, let me ask
-
this question. How many of you have read the whole of the Old Testament?
-
The Old Testament? Okay, I see three hands? Okay, is
-
it still relevant to us? It is? Right? Okay? How many
-
of you have read the whole of New Testament. Okay, okay, okay,
-
Um. I want to bring to you an excitement for the Old Testament.
-
Cannot not canno not. And the book that I want to bring to
-
you is actually the book called Deuteronomy. Have you do you know this book
-
Deuteronomy? Uh? Okay? Do you know where it is in your Bible?
-
Which number book? Is it in the your Bible? Okay? If
-
you go to excess, you nola, they teach you what Genesis they say,
-
the song right Genesis, Exodus, legs numbers, Deuteronomy. Um,
-
what is your Those who have read la, what is your impression of this
-
book? This Deuteronomy naptime book? Or read already straight for sleep? Okay,
-
that's why I never read all right, because the book is reading you.
-
Thank you for the honesty. Those who have tried to read Deuteronomy.
-
What is your impression of this book? Heavy? Okay? Heavy? Yep
-
yep heavy? What what do you get out of reading this book? That
-
we are horrible sinner? Thank you Lord? Yes, yes, but do
-
you know what that's true? Now? The word of God? Right if
-
you read it at any one point of time, right, it will cut
-
to your heart on serious even New Testament. You think Jesus, You know,
-
sometimes we have this mindset, right that Old Testament God is very angry,
-
right, and the New Testament Jesus is all loving and like a little
-
lamb. Mary had a little lamb. Right. But do you know that
-
Jesus is so strong with his words and it should cut to your heart because
-
God's world, you know, it breeds life into us, but it also
-
convicts us. Right. So so I want to give you an excitement and
-
new excitement for this book Deuteronomy, because I just went through it myself and
-
I'm like, Wow, God, this is amazing. I never thought I
-
would say that about any of the old books, seriously, even myself.
-
You know, I'm like, I just read numbers. Okay, how many
-
of you like numbers? No? Because right, we have this impression that
-
numbers is just all about the numbers. Law right, thirty thousand tribe of
-
Mina said the talent right or Joshua Dada. Then it's all numbers. And
-
then we just keep through all the numbers and they're like, oh, I
-
don't know why, why why is this so important? God? Are you
-
an accounting away? But the But see, you have to come into it
-
with a different perspective. What are you saying? God? So the way
-
we read God and the way we approach God's word right is saying, God,
-
what are you trying to say to me? Because a lot of times
-
we go into it and saying, oh, yeah, this is not relevant
-
to me anymore. That attitude in itself will already distance you from what God
-
is trying to speak to you. Okay, And but do you know what's
-
interesting? Not what's even more interesting? Do you know that when Jesus was
-
tempted in the desert, right, I told you the three times that he
-
refuted Satan's temptation, he quoted from the book of Deuteronomy. Did you know
-
that men shall not live by bread alone dads? From Deteronomy? The second
-
one was you shall not tempt the lot your God? Where is that from
-
Deuteronomy? What about the third one? What about the one also from Deuteronomy?
-
Okay, you go in final What's I won't tell you everything. You'll
-
need to study God's word on your own. And so Jesus quote the Deuteronomy.
-
Way, aren't you interested in what Jesus is studying? Do you know
-
Okay, maybe if some context for you to think about it is in those
-
days, in Jesus's time, they didn't have the Bible like this, correct.
-
What Jesus had was only the Torah, the first five books do you
-
know that? And of course the writings Law, the Psalms and the problems.
-
But Jesus didn't have the new testimony that he was living it out and
-
then they wrote it after that. So did Jesus do Bible study? Oh?
-
Yeah, what did he study on? He started the first five books
-
the law because he said that I came to abolish the law. I came
-
to fulfill the law. So he had to study it, right. I
-
think all of us I really want to live by God's law, we need
-
to study it right. And in Second Timothy it says study unt to show
-
yourself and approve worker unto the Lord rightly dividing the word of truth. So
-
that charge it's not too eldest and fastest again, it's to all of you
-
and me. So that means we all need to be students who know how
-
to handle God's word, because on the Monday to Saturday, you are God's
-
word out in the marketplace. I can't be there, I am not there.
-
You are there? So you are the one who is delivering the word
-
of God. Right so so yeah? So interesting or not? Deteronomy?
-
Um, do you know it comes from there's two words due to row and
-
no more. Any guess what due to role means du ro duro? Any
-
any Greek scholars? Yeah? No, no, any Hebrew scholars. Actually
-
it was a Greek word due to role. The slights can can come up
-
due to roll means second ah didn't know? Okay? Nor moos means law.
-
So this is the second law? Any idea why there needs to be
-
a second law? I thought one? Not right? So let me give
-
you a bit of a context to how this book came about. Now,
-
the children of Israel. You know that Moses let them out right, and
-
they were in the wilderness for how long? How many years? Forty years?
-
Actually, it says right, it only took its supposed to only take
-
them how many days? Eleven days? How did an eleven day journey become
-
forty years? Stubborn? Peoplah so stubborn? Okay? And do you know
-
that in Um? When where is the first time that the ten commandments were
-
given? Mount SINAI? Yeah? Correct? Good. Which book is it
-
given? Jen, I give you five choices Genesis, Exodus, le tigers,
-
numbers term which you're an abcde where Exodus, Thank you very much.
-
You'll know a bit of your Bible. Good. Right. So, so
-
Exodus was the first time that God gave the ten commandments on the two tablets,
-
the first tablet. Selena was like um modern with her jokes down.
-
She's like, a first tablet was built? Then okay, not not app
-
uh, two tablets there. And when Moses came down from the mountain after
-
meeting with God, what happened? Are you okay? La singers la straightway
-
built idol and then Moses super angry, okay, he smashed the tablet or
-
don't la smashed the tablets? Smashed the tablets? Uh? And and yeah,
-
you know that what happened after that, right, a plaque came upon
-
them for disobeying God. And now so what happened was in that forty years
-
forty years of that journey, and they're coming to that and now and they
-
can see the promise led right across there, right across there. And so
-
now Moses, right, he's gonna die in a week's time. One week's
-
time, he's gonna die, and he's like, man that promised land that
-
I let this Children of Israel forty years, I can't even enter it.
-
But do you know what's his burden on his heart? His burden on the
-
heart is that you know that the entire generation was wiped away, one whole
-
generation that this believed. Right. They were saying, no, La,
-
you know that Lena, who are full of giants. We are like Grasshopperla.
-
You know, let's not go there. Okay. Only two persons entered
-
the Promised Land from that generation, you know that, Joshua and Caleb,
-
right, because they had a different spirit within them. So Moses was there
-
and he knows that he's gonna die next week. If you know you're gonna
-
die next week, right, what you're gonna do? You would definitely pan
-
down the most important things for these people to remember. So who is he
-
talking to this children of Israel? Is the little cute children like baby Cohen
-
and you know all these little ones that cross the Red Sea with their parents.
-
But they were so young and this is the stage now where their parents
-
have died, right, and these little children have now grown up, right,
-
So so Moses is now charging them as they entered into this going to
-
enter into this promised land. These are the things that you have to remember.
-
Okay. So can you see that when you read now in you know,
-
when you go and read your tournament, it's not just like oh yeah,
-
it's just a list of laws and don't and do and your sinner and
-
your no. Do you know why God had to give the law. So
-
that's what we're going to go into, right, So the whole idea of
-
it. See, I'm just wetting your epetite now because I won't be able
-
to read they four chapters together with you. You will have to go and
-
study on your own. Okay. So now you see the structure. This
-
is the father's heart Moses speaking to the children. Children, you remember what
-
your father did not don't be like them because what will what will happen is
-
you will end up like them, cursed and died. It correct. So
-
can you imagine how put on the heart of a father looking at your children,
-
knowing that you're gonna die next week? These are the most important things
-
I need you to remember. I need you to remember. Okay. For
-
some of you younger folks, right, you're like, huh, Okay,
-
think back to your campus days. You know, just before you left home,
-
what your parents tell you. That's the most important thing. So this
-
is what Moses was trying to tell them. Okay, So, and the
-
thing about is right. One of the principles that you want to remember about
-
this is this, every time God makes a covenant and a promise, right,
-
you will have to enter it on your own. You can't basic on
-
your parents. Every generation will need to take up that covenant of God on
-
your own. This generation, you will have to take that covenant with God
-
because God has children and no grandchildren. Correct. So okay, enough of
-
that. Let's go now to read a portion of scription, and we will
-
read this together. I want us to read this together. Let's go to
-
a Deuteronomy chapter four and pluck out some of the things that we can learn
-
from Moses as he was teaching the children Israel. Okay, so let's read
-
this together, or we're okay, you can read this on the version.
-
Okay, Let's go one, two, three, Now, oh Israel,
-
listen to the statutes and the judgments which I teach you to observe that you
-
may live and go in and possess the land which the Lord God your Father's
-
is giving you. You shall not add to the word which I command you,
-
nor take from it, that you may keep the commandments of the Lord
-
your God, which I command you. Move on. Your eyes have seen
-
what the Lord did at Baal Pier. For the Lord your God has destroyed
-
from among you all the men who followed bal of Pier. But you who
-
held fast to the Lord your God are alive today, every one of you.
-
Surely I have thought you statutes and judgments, just as the Lord my
-
God commanded me, that you should act according to them in the land which
-
you go to possess. Therefore, be careful to observe them. For this
-
is your wisdom and your understanding in the side of the people. Who will
-
hear all these statutes and say, surely, this great nation is a wise
-
and understanding people. For what great nation is there that has God so near
-
to it as the Lord our God is to us, for whatever reason we
-
may call upon him, Amen? And what great nation is that that has
-
such statutes and righteous judgments as are all in this law which I sat before
-
you this day. Only take heed to yourself and diligently keep yourself, lest
-
you forget these things your eyes have seen unless they depart from your heart all
-
the days of your life, and teach them to your children and your grandchildren,
-
especially concerning the day you stood before the Lord, your God, in
-
horror, when the Lord said to me, gather the people to me,
-
and I will let them hear my words, that they may learn to fear
-
me all the days of their life on the earth, and that they may
-
teach your children. Aymen. Wow, that's reading God's wor together right,
-
um. And you know, maybe a tip for you is that I would
-
encourage you to read aloud God's word. You know. The power in that
-
is as you profess that, and you confess that there's power in our words,
-
right, power from our tongues. So as you confess that, what
-
happens is you receive doubleful blessing, which means you're also hearing it in your
-
spirit. You're hearing in your ear again. So so don't don't just sometimes
-
when you read that, especially on your devices any you're just reading and your
-
minds get distracted. Correct, because for all the notification that come, what's
-
for lunch? Where is lunch? You know? TikTok viral, this and
-
that really, if you're very serious about studying God's world, get a physical
-
Bible. Okay, if you're serious, when you're serious about your studies,
-
what you do you take out your textbook, right, or your highlighters or
-
your colored bands, or your notebooks or your sticky notes. Right. Why
-
don't you do the same and apply the same to the Word of God?
-
Okay? And the Bible that is full of writings and colorings and highlights is
-
one that is well studied. Think about it. If you're Bible very clean
-
on a um, yeah, never mind. So anyways, so what you're
-
just reading that ten verses? These are some of the things that we can
-
pick up already about the Word of God. Okay, So number one is
-
this, why are laws given to God's people? Can I ask you this
-
question? Why do you think God gives law to his children? Why?
-
Why? Firstly, okay, let me ask you backtrack a little bit.
-
Our laws good or bad? Okay, Kay, so you understand it.
-
It's good? Why is it good? Define the boundaries? Okay? Yes?
-
Correct? Thank you? Define the boundaries? How many of you are
-
law abiding citizens? Repair off the days? Er? Hey, we are
-
very funny people. No. On one head, he say, oh,
-
Lord is good because it defines boundaries. And then all of us like,
-
but we break all the laws all the time, not all the time.
-
Sometime, right, we're quite oxymoron nicla people we say one thing, but
-
we do another thing. I'm talking about myself. I'm not talking about you.
-
Go on, because sometimes our morning later. You know, then there's
-
this traffic life behind sumna. If you've been to the bsity like, sorry,
-
Lord, I refined, I confess my scenery. I confess my sin
-
um. And God says, those who confess their scene, they shall be
-
forgiven. Okay, forgive me a lord um. Laws are there to protect
-
you. But let's look at what God's word says. Is in the very
-
first word, you know, it says, listen to the statutes and the
-
judgments which I teach you that you may live. Do you see that that
-
you may live? God law is for you so that you can live.
-
When you awast think of God's law, it's like wow, you know why
-
God's so stract? You know? God is just always out to condemn me,
-
right, some owst thing of God's law. That way, that's why
-
some of us don't like to read God to it. Because the moment we
-
see it, we're like a lama. Why always do this? Don't do
-
this? Right? Do this, and we will push God to it that
-
way. It's a book of duce and don't correct. Yeah, asked me
-
to do this, ask me to do that, don't do that. I
-
forget it throughout this manual. Better just live life according to how I feel.
-
How I feel. Maybe that's the spirit of Godma how I feel?
-
Is it? Really? Do we live by our feelings? But do we
-
live by the word of God? Okay? No. Number one? That
-
God's law is always to give you life and sometimes right when you read,
-
especially the Old Testament, the Jewish people had a lot of laws. How
-
many laws are there in the Old Testament? You know, if you attend
-
the homes you should notice answer trivia bybo trivia. How many laws are there
-
in the Old Testament? Six one three, six hundred and thirteen laws?
-
And it covers everything from the way you worship, from the way you cook,
-
from the way you clean, from the way you wear your clothes,
-
all and composing, how you treat your parents, how you treat God,
-
how you treat a neighbors, oks and horses and donkeys. Everything was contained
-
in the Old Testament, and it was so dead they could live. Um.
-
There was a study shown, and I can't remember what year it was,
-
but um, you know, the Jewish people have their own kosher laws,
-
right, and the high gene laws a lot of hygiene. You thinking,
-
God, you hygiene free? Is it? God is very particular about
-
hygiene, right, If you touch a dead body, don't come into cama,
-
go outside, wash yourself, then only come in. God very particular
-
about watching hancer. So, um, there was an outbreak of a pandemic
-
in those days. I can't remember in which year. This is not before
-
your COVID nineteen. Okay, way before COVID nineteen. There was a pandemic
-
that happened and the surrounding neighborhood and the nations all died because of the pandemic.
-
But it was the Jewish people who lived. Why Because they wash hands.
-
It's true. It's as simple as that is. Because they practice the
-
hygieneic laws of not mixing things together, that protected them from the pandemic.
-
And of course you know how people are all right, we must be the
-
one who started the pandemic, who started the play. Yes, that's that's
-
what happened. They were accused the Jewish people were accused of starting the plague,
-
right, But all they did was they just kept God's law. Because
-
God's law is meant to keep you alive. Guys. It's not a spoils
-
for all right. It's not there to make your life difficult. It's there
-
to keep you alife. Think about God's law this way now, Okay,
-
So that was Old Testament six one three. Okay, it's no longer applicable
-
to us, the Mosaic law, because we have a better law, correct,
-
the New Testament. Paul says, we no longer live under the law,
-
but we live under grace. Okay, Grace is this new law.
-
Now? How many laws and commandments are there in the New Testament? And
-
love your neighbor as yourself because jes say, summarize over. But that was
-
a summary. Do you know that they did a study? So these are
-
other Bible scholars are not Meanama, And they came up with one zero five
-
zero New Testament a loss that's double, you know, almost double of the
-
Old Testament laws. So you think or a New Testament Old Testament law,
-
I kick it a lot, right, so hard to follow, don't need
-
reading, and you just say, oh, no, hello, there is
-
new laws one zero fizer. But remember again, what are the laws for
-
is to give you life? Give you life. So now I'm on a
-
personal journey now that I'm reading a New Testament, right, I'm like,
-
oh, when I read something, I'm like, okay, this is God's
-
commandment. And the thing is right, when you receive God's commandment, what
-
do you do with it? You just put it on your wall and say,
-
oh that's nice. You apply it. You gotta obey, guys.
-
And I tell you, when I was reading some of you, I'm like,
-
oh my gosh, by the third law, right, I'm like,
-
God, forgive me. I'm a sinner. Then it's you know, God's
-
you think the Old Testament laws are difficult, maybe not so difficult. Any
-
one of you murdered anyone before, if you got murderably, don't confess.
-
Any one of you committed adultry before, if also, God, don't come
-
confess. But we think that these are the laws. That is quite easy
-
to apolla, right, And then Jesus says, ah, but if you
-
say to your brother, you idiot, you're already committing murder in your heart
-
howlah ow Jesus. Jesus's laws are even higher. So I want to challenge
-
all of you when you read God's word now and look at it and say,
-
God, Wow, what is this speaking to me? Because it is
-
when you see. The thing about the word of God is it's a reflection.
-
You know, all of you like to look at mirrors, like ten
-
thousand times a day, right, you look at your mirror, and it's
-
a reflection of who you are. And God's word is exactly that. It's
-
a reflection of our actual nature. And that causes us to have two response.
-
One is it depends. Uh. You can be I don't like why
-
I see, therefore I don't want to see anymore correct, or it can
-
be wow, even if this kind of face, God, you love me
-
and you forgive me, and you show me grace, and you love me,
-
and you provide for me, and you give me grace, and you
-
give me mercy. Mercy's are new every morning. Why Why God? Why
-
what do you see in his face? Right? Many of us need to
-
be healed in our relationship with him because a lot of us, when we
-
don't know who God is, we we don't know his motive we don't know
-
his intention, and we feel that he's always out to get us right.
-
We feel like God, but persiples high standup because you want to see us
-
fall. Right. No, God's heart is that you live. God has
-
no evil intention. Even if you did right, why would he even create
-
that you and me think about it. He's not statistic way. So some
-
wrong conceptions that we have we have to change, right. And you know
-
that God's word says, if you love me, feed my sheep. What
-
if you love me, tend to my gods? And God's way of expressing
-
love is always about him and who him and others him and others. It's
-
never okay, God, just put me on a mountain. I can just
-
worship you, be the good, goodest person on earth. Right. But
-
He's like, no, you go down the mountain, and then you go
-
and love your neighbor. You go and love your boss whom you hate.
-
You're going to make peace with them. You forgive. These are the commandments
-
which I'm talking about forgiveness, sir. It's a commandment, you know.
-
And don't think that God I cannot forgive. I cannot forgive them. Are
-
you saying you are more powerful than God, there's this book that I'm reading
-
right now and it's really interesting. Thing is talking about uncovering the spiritual root
-
of disease. Okay, uncovering the spiritual I'm just studying the book and is
-
so interesting. And this doctor, doctor Henry Wright, he says that eighty
-
percent of serious illnesses comes from a spiritual root. Right. And the first
-
thing that, you know, I had to stop it, but it was
-
so interesting. He says, in his study, any percent, okay,
-
not one hundred percent, eighty percent of any disease. Um, you know,
-
serious disease in your life, it's got to do with either a broken
-
relationship with God, a broken relationship with yourself, or a broken relationship with
-
someone. And in his study, right, in his research, he says
-
that a woman who has breast cancer Okay, this is his study, Okay,
-
I'm just quoting him. A woman who has breast cancer. And in
-
his research he found that typically if the breast cancer is on the right side,
-
it means they have an unforgiveness with a non blood relative, a non
-
blood relative. And he will ask ask them this question, so are you
-
married, and they say yes, how is your relationship like with your mother?
-
In law, and there was a woman who called him pastor's wife,
-
and she was dying fosterage breast cancer, right, and and so she called
-
him after like last resort. Really, I called this guy and say,
-
okay, you know, um, they say you're the guy to go to.
-
So would you pray for me? He's like, no, I'm not
-
going to pray for you. Yeah, But then then the woman's like,
-
huh, what do you mean. I thought you're a man of God.
-
You're pastor right. He's like, no, I will do according to the
-
word of God. Then the woman ingree really, like what do you mean?
-
The world of God says you should pray for people who are sicking and
-
and and then he quoted another Bible scripture and he says, um, for
-
those who have a sickness unto death, who's holding on to a sin unto
-
death, right, do not pray for them? Like where's that worse God,
-
You're gonna find out where it is. And and so the woman's like
-
shock already, right, like hello, I'm dying, you know, like
-
really good doctor says a few few more weeks and you're out. So so
-
with the discernment of the spirit, he says um, do you have an
-
unforgiveness? And after many many moments of just silence on the phone, she
-
said yes. So then this doctor got excited like, okay, fort step
-
is confession. You say, yes, ma, okay, confession. Then
-
then he says okay, so so um and and he says, and she
-
said that there is someone there, there's an unforgiveness against this woman woman womana.
-
Please don't be nasty each other. Okay, I tell you you bring
-
sickness upon yourself. Um and and and so then he says, um.
-
He asked her again, so, okay, so now that you know you've
-
confessed before the Lord, and because he asked her, what what are you
-
going to do next? She said that okay, Um, the world of
-
God says, I need to confess to God. And this doctor said after
-
that, m then the woman was convicted in her heart and she said I
-
need to go to this woman and ask her for forgiveness and restore that relationship.
-
And then um, this doctor was like, yeah, that's what it
-
is, right and and so then the woman before they hung up, like
-
are you gonna pray for me? Like no, because you are just obeying
-
God's word. Sometimes prayer, it's not effective because the sin has not been
-
removed. You know. Sometimes you can pray, pray, and we are
-
wondering, actually, what is wrong? How come my prayers are not working?
-
But then to for healing to really take place, that needs to be
-
that restoration. Right, And and a few months down the road he he
-
didn't hear from her again. And what happened was he he in his mailbox
-
he received a book. A book was written by another medical doctor, which
-
is this woman's doctor, that said one of the conditions for healing is repentance
-
and unforgiveness. Do you know unforgiveness? Sir? It's really really evil.
-
Please don't let it take root in your hearts and let it bear the fruit
-
of death over your body. So why am I going so much into this?
-
The law of God is to give you life unforgiveness. That's why.
-
That's why Jesus says, how many times you forgive another person it's uncomfortable.
-
Basically, it's best action is just don't count. Just forgive again and again
-
and again because you don't want to have that root over your life. Amen.
-
All right, So first principle, God's law is about life, Okay,
-
are you gonna love God's law? Amen? Amen, just take it
-
and say, God, I know you, you know better than me.
-
Okay, you know better than me how to run my life. I'm just
-
going to obey. The second thing is this, the laws of God are
-
absolute. Where do we find this right? It says in verse two,
-
you shall not add to the word which I command you, nor take from
-
it. All of us are like to mix and match. No right,
-
And we say the God's would really say this, or the God's would say,
-
you know, and we stretch what God is saying. I would encourage
-
all of us to take God's word literally, really literally, don't try and
-
like figuratively spiritualize God's word that way. And when God says love your neighbor,
-
neighbor, what does that mean? Yes, there can be a lot.
-
That's where we need the Holy Spirit to teach us what loving is.
-
But you know what love is, right, and so things like that.
-
You know, God says, do not be angry until the sun sets,
-
right, do not let your anger remain with the sunset. Think so,
-
so what do you do without anger? Release that? Like, guys,
-
release that The anger issues that we have is us saying I have a right
-
over you. I have a right. And that's dangerous because when we come
-
before God, I said, I got my rights, my rights, my
-
rights. That's not any way to come before the Lord. God is always
-
saying, no, it's not your rights. You give up your rights,
-
and I will show you what is right before we know what is right before
-
the God. We need to give up our rights. Many of us came
-
before got very demanding, No, God, you know you should do this
-
for me here now, then show me da da da, And God is
-
saying, is that how you come and worship me? I don't know how
-
many of you came in today to this service expecting something for yourself, or
-
you came with the primary focus of worshiping him. Is it about how great
-
the performance was, how great the word was, how tickled or how you
-
know how much you enjoyed it or don't enjoy You know that there's this verse
-
said or not this verse law, this statement that chapersn't like to say,
-
right, And I can't catch myself saying that sometimes I hope you guys enjoyed
-
the worship right, And then in my heart God just saying I think we
-
should be asking God, did you enjoy the worship or not right because it's
-
not about us. Although God's focus is on us, but it's for us.
-
It shouldn't be about us. It should be about him. Right,
-
So do not add to God's commandments. Do not take away from it.
-
We are very good taking away because we only remember too versus at most one
-
John Tree six things for God so loved the world. Other than that,
-
uh, please, can you add God's word into your heart? Lockstock,
-
and bear. Don't pick and choose, okay, those things that you like,
-
only everything, everything goes in Okay. So that's the second law.
-
The third one the principle that I learned many of us one wisdom and understanding.
-
Right, you're like God, give us wisdom, God, you know,
-
give us understanding so that we know how to proceed make decisions in our
-
life. But it says here, it's the observance of the law that will
-
give you wisdom and understanding. It's not just about knowing it. Firstly,
-
you gotta know it law. If you don't know it, you can't observe
-
it. Right, So observation of the law gives wisdom. And where do
-
we get this? It says in verse six. Therefore, be careful to
-
observe them, for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of
-
the people who will hear all these statutes. Do you know that you're when
-
you go out in the no marketplace tomorrow, these people, the people who
-
don't know God, they will look at your life. And if you live
-
your life observing God's statutes and his laws and saying I don't take bribes,
-
you know, I will honor authority, I will talk back about my boss.
-
What they are saying, They're like, oh, she that was quite
-
wiser. Do not talk about your boss behind their back. This is wisdom
-
and understanding, guys, And this is how you live your life in accordance
-
to God's way. Amen, It's always observance of the law. Don't just
-
know it but then say it's for everyone else, not me. It's not
-
applicable to me. All of us need to observe God's law. Okay.
-
The fourth one is this I will close in a while. The fourth one
-
is this that all of God's law is righteous. Do you agree with this?
-
Okay? So we firstly say that God's law is giving you life right,
-
and it's also God's law that will give you wisdom and understanding, and
-
God's laws are absolute. And this thing about God's law is it's always righteous.
-
Now, what do you understand about the word righteous? What is the
-
word righteous, that which is right? Yeah, yeah, exactly. My
-
simple understanding of this word righteous is whatever God says is right. How many
-
of you like to argue with people? We are arguing about the rightness and
-
the wrongness, you know, doctrinal issues. But firstly, just to understand
-
that God's laws are always righteous and whatever that He does and he allows is
-
right. That's a mindset that we need to carry. Otherwise we will always
-
be up against God and say, God, you know, how come you're
-
soul? Unfair? Right, So you need to take in your heart.
-
You might not understand right now why it has to happen, but understand is
-
that no matter what happens in your life, if there are crisis, they
-
are challenges that you go through. Know that God's ways are higher than your
-
ways, His thoughts are higher than your thoughts. He knows what's happening.
-
Heaven rules right. Heaven God knows exactly. And that's why as Christians we
-
can be at peace and we can have hope and we can't have joy.
-
Christians, can you give me a smile? Please? Don't be so serious?
-
Lah right, you gotta be the most excited, hopeful people on in
-
a'm pound please because you have God's word, you have God's hope, you
-
have eternal life. Okay, all right, don't don't be like always so
-
grumpy and grow chila not happy with things, and like, can you just
-
thank God for the simple things in your life? Can you just thank God
-
for your church, thank God for your family, thank God for your job,
-
thank God that you can eat lunch after this? Right? That you
-
know, if you understand see the things like when you read God what You're
-
like, God, You've given me so much. And if you read God's
-
word again and again, you're like, Wow, this God that we serve
-
is awesome and mighty and powerful, all loving, faithful, even when we
-
are unfaithful. This is the God that we serve. Amen. And the
-
last bit and this is a very important part. And Moses kept reminding this
-
generation. He says, passed it on to your children, teach it to
-
your children's children. So everything that you're learning here and what you will be
-
learning for the rest of your life, can I charge you to teach it
-
to those who is after you, the next generation, even if you don't
-
have children. I'm not talking about biological children. If you have children,
-
even better, right in the sense that you now have a responsibility to teach
-
God's word. You know, to teach you what love God with all your
-
heart and soul and mind and strength means to say that you know you will
-
observe the Sabbath day. Okay, not really observed it, but just worshiping
-
the Lord. Right, you have that responsibility, and that's a command of
-
the Word of God to teach your children and their children and pass it on,
-
because what I find is that by the time a second generation Christian,
-
the truth has been distorted. And you know that today it's hard to get
-
the truth in because the moment you preach right, male is male, females
-
female gone, the whole world is going to say, no, that's wrong.
-
Are you still going to teach your child male is male, females female,
-
One male, one female. That makes a marriage. God hates adultery,
-
God hates divorce. Will you teach that to your children? We have
-
done pre rich counseling with couples who says and these are Christians are and says
-
it's okay to just date and stick together. You know, we're trying it
-
out until we get married. I'm like, hello, Christian in the church
-
having this Scout principles and because I asked them this question, so what will
-
you tell your children next time? And they also can Tryala Hello, this
-
is this generation's mindset. I know you shake your ape. I don't know
-
what God is doing. He probably looks down from heaven and go like,
-
what in the world is happening. What is happening in the world that Christians
-
are not teaching these values to your children, and these values will be You'll
-
be laughed at. Trust me, you'll be laughed at, You'll be ridiculed,
-
You'll be prosecuted for your stand on God's word. So that's why I
-
my heart is for all of us to stand strong. We really need to
-
stand strong on God's truth and God's word because if you don't stand strong for
-
yourself, I fear what's going to happen to the next generation. And this
-
means all of us. You know God, remember we come back to the
-
mission of Acts is to make disciples of all nations. That means all of
-
you, single or not, young person or not you are discipling someone,
-
you're already either teaching them God's truth or not teaching them God's truth. And
-
we are sweet in this world with so many doctrines right, and Paul says,
-
in the last days, you know, parents will turn against children,
-
children will turns again parents. You'll be swept by the winds of doctrine,
-
left, rights and to everything. Also, and what's worse is within the
-
church itself there will be many, many kinds of teachings. And so that's
-
why I say, please, do not just take looks or embarrol what I'm
-
saying today. Would you go back to God's wood and see what he is
-
saying. Amen. Every teaching that you hear right now, I want you
-
to just be very careful and go back to God's wood and check it against
-
God's wood. Is this true or not? The God say this in his
-
word, And if it's not in God's word, then you can be rest
-
assured that it is not from the Lord. We hope you've been blessed by
-
this message. For more information on our church, please visit us Church r
