Remembering so that we have a future | Elder Wong Kien Yiak

You're listening to a message to go from acts Church. We hope this message

will light up your day. The title of my message today is remembering so

that we have a future. You know, it's very important for us to

remember, right. You know. Uh, sometimes in life we forget things

we do forget. And you know, there's so many things you remember.

If you're a student, there's so many textbooks to remember. If you're young

working at out, lesser textbook, but more for numbers, more names,

right, more context remember as you grow older, contexts not important as more

your wife and the story is more important. If you forget that, that's

it. Hallelujah. You see Jesus earlier than anyone else. But yeah,

so remember it's important. You know. Sometimes in life you find that we

actually forget what to remember. Right. For example, the keys one of

the things that we forget where we put our keys, right, and very

important to know where to put our keys. For example, if you've got

a diarrhea, you're rushing back home if you come for your keys, the

love be with you. Password. That's why the most used function is you

forgot your password or your ID? All right? Forgot the people's names?

Have you ever forgot the people's names before not five minutes they introduced to you.

You've forgotten their names, all right. Uh, names are not very

easy to remember. For numbers, it's even harder this. You don't remember

any for numbers already. But back in those days whereby we didn't have any

technology, you're forced to remember for numbers. Or you have this mollit the

But sometimes you forget. The most tragic one is you actually forgot why

you come into the room. You remember we need to go to a particular

room. You went in there, like why am I here? For maybe

like like maybe you're in church right now? Why am I here in church?

Like, oh no, maybe I went to the wrong church. But

yeah, we forget things. But you know, forgetting is not that serious.

But some matters are a bit more life and death, a bit more

urgent, a bit more costly. For example, if you forget to something

at home, you have to make a U turn right, So time wasted

and also be a patrol is wasted. So but remember so that we kind

of have a future. It's important because sometimes it really starts with knowing what

to remember. It really starts with knowing what to remember, cause a lot

of things are so important, A lot of things are there's so much information

around to memorize and to know, right, and we forget. We actually

The question here is rather that the challenge with the Lord give me this

message was this is that we need to remember that he's our shepherd. First

of all, our shepherd. What does a shepherd do? A shepherd is

A shepherd is a person that cares for the sheep, leads the sheep.

to lead me. And it's hard for us to continue with our life journey

can see a green pasture, maybe we don't like to lie down on this

green pasture. And we say the other, the other, the other pasture

of the one ship greener, one ship greater. Then you tend to go

that sight there. And maybe we don't like these steel waters. Friends,

always our old water preferences. We do. Some of you like this steel

to function the role of a shepherd. Very important of friends, like,

at the same time they know that the families at stake, and sometimes they

have to make a very uh tough decision. But say, God, I

cannot allow my my child to go like there. Maybe I need to stop

planting a church for this very reason. So we therefore we need to allow

him to play the role of the shepherd our life. Allow him the leader's

guide us to restore friends. Many times that our journey we tried to look

for our own restoration. A result doesn't restore friends, although it's nice if

restore for a moment like a bandit, but it doesn't fully restore. A

result is nice friends and all of a sudden like like like like going for

a result, but to stay in the result forever friends. It's it's hard

because that's not real life, right, And God wants to reminder as we

go and progress so as to move forward in our season our life. Sometimes

we forget what he's like before you think about it. Sometimes every as we

move on ah in our season our life, we forget what it's like before

we forget. For example, you've twing me chapter five, verse fifteen,

and remember that you were slaved in the land of Egypt. God is the

one that has to remind the children of Viel that you were a slave in

the land of Egypt. You think about about it. Why does God have

to remind because we forget Because the moment we taste freedom, we actually forget.

We actually can forget when we were singer say wow, so nice to

find someone to fall in love with to spend the rest of your life together.

But you're married after ten fifteen years go oh, the day I get

a freedom, one day without my spouse, who we can't forget. Friends,

God has to remind remember that you were slaving land of Egypt, and

the Lord your God brought you out. Come on to the Lord your God

brought you out. We were one point in time, at this particular stage

had tasted freedom. But in the midst of the progress and freedom, God,

key and crucial, because at one point you dependent on me for the breakthroughth

at one point in time that you asked me for guidance, You asked me

to lead you, to guide you to restore. I did all that,

and God has to remind us again that don't forget the sabbath don't forget your

purpose, don't forget your mission, don't forget your calling. God has to

remind the tune of his jeal. That is not their own strength of wisdom

or connection that brought them out from Egypt. Point is being careful of selective

here, this remembering when under pressure or internet challenges. Selective remembering her her

husband and wife argued before and sometimes the midst of the marriage for ten or

a years. Maybe the husband forget the birthday once from ten years of more

is bad. It can't be friends. So therefore, friends, I want

remember our commingment towards him, friends, because if he's our shepherd, friends,

therefore, whenever we are stress, he restores. You don't restore or

But I just I wish I could converse with your told that I wish

I could converse with you, but I just couldn't. I just couldn't understand.

I just couldn't reply properly. All right, if I do reply,

But the conviction friends sometimes friends hear this. The conviction is this that just

because I don't speak the same language doesn't mean I don't participate. This show

It takes me a longer time to warm up your language. And they'll try

because we don't understand, we do not know the conviction of Christ is so

important. We really need to live our life convicted by what God is putting

on our hearts. God must always be first in our life, no matter

what we go to, no matter what pressure we go to, God must

always be first in our life. Maybe perhaps right now we are living the

environment whereby the Gospel is easily accessible. One time a preacher was just sharing

with a group of leaders, and just this preacher just say, sometime I

get so frustrated because I'm keep hearing the gospel being preached the same people again

and again and again and again again and again and again that some people around

and may not and have not heard yet. And here we are something.

We are are making commands about hearing the same messages again, and that's his

conviction. And another preacher's confission was is that say, if we don't disciple

people friends, our just won't have a future. If we ourselves not being

discipled, we don't have a future in God. We have a concept or

understanding who God is, but there's no conviction because we are not being led

by God. There fum more points the way we react, pray, read

the Bible, and preach reveal how much we know about him. Okay,

this is the way we react, pray, read the Bible, even preach,

reveals how much we know about Him. Many times in our journey friends,

in our journey of Christianity, with our journey of Christianity, we think

we think that we know God about friends. It really reveals the more you

know about God, the more you want to live out your life, live

response will be different. We are very comfortable in the way we worship.

right the preacher may not be like that, or maybe it could be like

that right now it's so boring at your life, the place and lunchtime already

perhaps right and maybe and perhaps sometimes all these I mean, give put out

faith right now in a place whereby it's not normal. Right. I was

in a pastive fellowship one time. I remember the personally it was a past

his wife who cannot sing in tunin and there's no instrument that you started singing.

Friends, the older ones was rather on the older ones, the older

passes. There were just worshiping. I was being just a very young leader

back then, trying not to laugh, trying not to giggle because you know

when you know, when the person sings very loud off and everything that you

just can't help but to laugh. To to you just try to hold it

in, right, you try to tie your shoelaces. You understand what I'm

trying to say, because you don't make a scene, but it happens.

It happens, and don't understood. Back then you're thinking so boring the past's

fellowship and stuff that only much later in life I discover that friends, majority

of the people, majority of the churches around the world may not have this

kind facility. No, no, some system may not have like everything that

we have right now. We don't have a lot of stuff, yeah,

but some have lesser, But doesn't mean that become worshiped. So the wave

resport reveals how much we know about Him and Jesus must always be the focus,

no matter what happens to what other people say, last scripture for the

day. Luke say it. He said to them, if anyone desires to

come after me, let him deny himself and take up the cross and follow

me in friends. If anyone desires to come after me in friends, I

truly believe that obs he won the Lord. Always say want to follow God.

But there's a condition, which is this that friends, there is this

of the window. Friend, denying yourself in or to say that just because

met a guy one time to say the way must we know we can pray

anywhere? Well, why do people come to court to pray in this mountain?

Why? Why can pray your home. I say, true, you

can, But you're here right now. Why do you experience what it means,

what it feels like, Because it's very different. Because sometimes we go

to a place wherey the place is saturated with prayer. It is very different.

It's very different. Some most you no, no, because we grow

up in the generation whereby you have not seen the move of the spirits as

much as those in the eighties. In the eighties where when the preacher calls,

all the court is packed and before the preacher could touch the faur hate.

Friends, people for under the power. That's rare number, just with

the head, people for under the power. But these days less of that.

Right, But that doesn't mean, friends, that we stop believing.

So denying yourself here, say that God, I choose to believe, even

though somethimess I don't. I don't really believe. And take up your cross

and follow me in. Friends. Last point is this is this A man

was consumed, friends, Abraham was consumed with obeying God. See, you

must allow your love for him to consume you. Abit was consumed to the

thing that you love an was consumed. What you are consumed by and convicted

of will compel you to act. What you're consumed by and convicted of will

compel you to act. I pray, friends, to bring this message to

grips us all the time, but we'd be like David. They say we

should not fear because your presence, your right, your stuff. It comforts

me. You know when you're fearful you're fearful. We we it self.

Preservation kicks in every run anywhere what it thinks can be helped. We run

to any place that we comfort that that steals our hearts of friends. If

you ever walk in the dark room before and all you hear is a dripping

tap water from the toilet, that's really dark. If that frightens you and

friends, I'm not frightened. But then all I'm okay. You know this

is water only praise. Go about other things to frighten your friends. But

why what frightens your friends? You always find a place thing that comes your

heart, because that's how we are white and how we are made. It's

very natural. And God says that it's my rod. And to start of

the comforts, you prepare a meal before my enemies. Surely goodness and mercy

follow me the rest of my life. I draw this to a close,

if you just remember that we were a slave, and how good is just
