  1. You're listening to a message to go from acts Church.

  2. We hope this message will light up your day.

  3. The message that I'm going to share with all of

  4. us is derived from the Team Christmas, where we talk

  5. about Christmas. What can we remember apart the birth of

  6. Jesus is the word joy.

  7. Okay.

  8. So this morning I'm gonna share with you on the

  9. topic joy that is in line with Christmas and also

  10. it's in line with our team that all may know.

  11. Okay.

  12. So let's straight from the scripture. Take them from Nihim

  13. chapter eight, verse ten.

  14. Okay.

  15. So the word of Lord says, then he said to them,

  16. go your way, eat the fat, drink the sweet, and

  17. same portion to those for whom nothing is prepared for

  18. this day is holy to our Lord, do not be sorry,

  19. for the joy of the Lord is our strength.

  20. Right.

  21. So, I think this scripture is very familiar to many

  22. of us. Sometimes when we really run out of strength,

  23. we always say that, you know, Lord, I want your

  24. joy because the joy of the Lord is our strength.

  25. Okay.

  26. And this is a very scripture that I hold it

  27. very dearly to myself.

  28. Okay.

  29. So every time when I face with challenges, I will

  30. always remind myself that you know, the joy of the

  31. Lord is my strength, all right, But what is all

  32. this joy of the Lord is my strength about?

  33. Okay?

  34. So just now when I mentioned that, you know, December

  35. is the month of Christmas, and all of us are

  36. very happy, you know, thinking what present to buy for

  37. our friends, our families. We are celebrating, you know, thinking

  38. how should we celebrate our Christmas? Most of us we

  39. are very excited. But during this season we also have

  40. to remember there are also a group of people that

  41. may not be so happy.

  42. Okay. Probably they are the people who are.

  43. Alone, feeling lonely during this time, or said because they

  44. have lost someone. Or maybe they are people who are

  45. struggling with personal hardship or losses. Maybe they are people

  46. who have lost hope and the meaning of life. That

  47. to them is like December is just another day to

  48. go through.

  49. All right.

  50. So what is our role, you know, as a believer

  51. of Christ in this season is to share.

  52. The joy of the Lord to the people that's around us.

  53. You know, when I say share the joy of the Lord,

  54. it's not to say that, oh, okay, I take out

  55. my money, No no, no, I'm sharing my joy to you, Okay,

  56. it's not that, okay, that that is just physical happiness

  57. that you're sharing and it's just a flitting moment. You know,

  58. it's not something that will last you forever.

  59. Okay.

  60. But what I'm gonna share with all of us here

  61. today is that something that it will remain in us forever,

  62. and it is something that we can pass on to

  63. another person that they can remain in them forever.

  64. Okay. So let's first look at the word joy.

  65. Okay, when we look at the meaning joy in the

  66. dictionary is very straightforward. It just simply means a feeling

  67. of great pleasure and happiness. So a lot of times

  68. when we look at the word joy, right, we were

  69. equated with the term happy. Right, So when we say that, oh,

  70. I'm very happy, it's all I'm very joyful, Okay, We

  71. always equated with that. But we know that our life

  72. is always full of a lot of challenges, a lot

  73. of demands, a lot of things for us to balance

  74. enhance maintaining this level of joy that we understand with

  75. our own brain, we will find it really challenging because

  76. when the world trow challenges at us, we tend to

  77. lose the joy that we understand with our brain, right,

  78. that is what we understand.

  79. Joy from the world will perception.

  80. But what I want to share here today is that

  81. joy is not just an emotion, okay, but it's a

  82. state of being that comes from within, that is from

  83. inside out, okay. And it's a peace and purpose that

  84. can only be found in Christ Jesus, regardless of circumstances.

  85. Okay.

  86. It is something that comes from within that can only

  87. be found in Christ Jesus. So I went and do

  88. some check from the you know, the Concordance, okay. So

  89. what is the meaning of joy in the Concordance?

  90. Okay?

  91. And it gave a very simple definition as well, rejoice,

  92. be glad, be cheerful. But when I read further on

  93. about the bibical understanding of what joy means, okay, it

  94. says that joy is not just and emotion in a person,

  95. but a fruit of the spirit. How many of you

  96. remember the fruit of the spirit. How many attributes are

  97. there in the fruit of the spirit.

  98. Very good? Well, what is it?

  99. Goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and very good?

  100. Well done?

  101. Okay, So all of us know the attributes in the

  102. fruit of the Spirit. And this joy, okay, you know

  103. it is from the first street love, joy and then

  104. peace okay. And joy is a fruit that will burth

  105. froth okay, from our relationship with God.

  106. Okay.

  107. It's a reflection of our relationship with God. And it's

  108. a deep sense of peace and contentment comes from knowing

  109. and trusting Him okay. And it's a fruit that burths

  110. out from our intimacy with God.

  111. Okay.

  112. So, which means as you continue to spend time with God,

  113. as you continue to build a relationship with Him, this

  114. joy is the fruit.

  115. That will both out from us okay.

  116. So that's why in the world of God, it tells

  117. us that we always have to abide ourself with Him.

  118. And how can we abide it? Spend time? You know,

  119. I think all of you will. She'll say what every time, Selena,

  120. pretty right? He will. She will sure remind us to

  121. spend time with God.

  122. Yes, that is very important, spending time with him, work

  123. with him, okay.

  124. And the joy that we get.

  125. From him will be the genuine joy okay. Because why

  126. we know that it is from within. You know, when

  127. a tree grow, right, it cannot grow from the surface.

  128. So this is a soil. It cannot grow on the surface.

  129. If we grow on the surface. What will happen? I think, yeah,

  130. no roots and no roads. Within how many days it

  131. will die? I think within one day it will definitely die. Okay,

  132. But if it's from within, when the roots grow deep, Okay,

  133. the roots grow no matter you forget to water how

  134. many days? Right, it will still survive for how many

  135. days until you water? But please remember to water the plants.

  136. If you are the person who plant, don't be like me.

  137. Every plan that comes to my hand died, okay because

  138. I always forget to water my plant.

  139. Okay. So yeah, we are just like the plant.

  140. Don't forget to water ourselfs read the word of God.

  141. If we want to grow deep, we have to water

  142. ourselves with the word of God.

  143. Okay.

  144. So that's why every time I preach, I will remind

  145. myself and all of us to read the Word of God.

  146. That's why having physical Bible is impottant. And we need

  147. to work with him. Okay, how do we work with him?

  148. The Word of God teachers, which is the right way

  149. to walk? How can we walk? So we will have

  150. to walk with him. And when we walk with him,

  151. and when we both out, the joy that comes from

  152. spending time walking with him we know that we are

  153. able to withstand any external forces.

  154. That will come our way.

  155. Okay, because why we always say that, you know, the

  156. word of God is part of the armor of God

  157. that will shoe us right, that will shield us from

  158. every fary that's of the enemy, and hence it's important.

  159. Okay.

  160. So having said that, we also know that we always

  161. battle against not flesh and blood. We always battle against

  162. the principalities. And there is always a lot of things

  163. that are coming our way that will try to rob

  164. us from rob us of our joy. That the joy

  165. that God has given to us. Okay, I think can

  166. change light sading okay. Okay, So here it says that,

  167. you know, joy, it's so hard to maintain and keep

  168. why all right, because of the enemies. They are always

  169. lurking around to try to rob it from us. No,

  170. the enemy does want us to be happy one really,

  171. the enemy doesn't like to see us being happy, doesn't

  172. like us to see us being contented, doesn't like us

  173. to see us, you know, having the peace.

  174. That's why the enemy.

  175. As you can read from John Tanton, it says that

  176. the teeth does not come except to steal, kill, and destroy.

  177. Okay. So that is what the teeth tries to do.

  178. That is our enemy. Okay.

  179. But what the word continue on says. It says that

  180. I have come that they may have life, that they

  181. may have it more abundantly. And that is what God

  182. wants for us. God want us to have life and

  183. have it more abundantly. God's will is to bless us.

  184. But the enemy's intention is to rob us and to

  185. kill us and to destroy us. And don't think that yeah, yeah,

  186. I don't think it happened to me or not trust me.

  187. It will happen to anyone of us, anyone, Okay, no

  188. matter whether you are. You know, we always say you

  189. don't think that you're just a small pert that thought.

  190. The enemy will not come and destroy you.

  191. Will don't think that you're high up there. You know,

  192. everybody is like how how do you? And you will

  193. not be attacked. You will get attacked even more.

  194. Okay. So the enemy is just.

  195. Here to attack us, especially those of us who really

  196. love God.

  197. Okay.

  198. So why the enemy is doing this Because the enemy

  199. is trying to distract us and pull us away from

  200. the giver of joy okay, which is Christ Jesus. The

  201. enemy doesn't want us to have peace. The enemy doesn't

  202. want us to receive the blessing that God has prepared

  203. for us.

  204. So remember this. Okay.

  205. So the enemy is always around and it's always disguised

  206. in any form.

  207. To distract you. Okay. So that is one, and then

  208. what else worldly troubles? Okay.

  209. In John sixteen verds the detree, it says that these

  210. things are spoken to you that in me you may

  211. have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But

  212. be of good child. I've overcome the world.

  213. Okay.

  214. So we all know we are living in the world

  215. that are full of challenges. We are living in the

  216. world that is full of pressure. For those of you

  217. who are working, I'm pretty sure that you will face

  218. pressure up down life, right Okay. In your family there

  219. are pressure, in your school, there are pressure. There are challenges.

  220. In relationship, there are pressure. There are challenges, and there

  221. are troubles as well. Sometimes these troubles and these challenges,

  222. it can really cause you.

  223. To lose sight of God. Okay.

  224. Sometimes it is so big that you just it just

  225. will distract you to just focus on.

  226. How to solve the challenges, a solve the issue.

  227. Or sometimes you may be so into the challenges that

  228. you kind of like, I don't care anymore. I just

  229. want to hide in my corner and I just don't

  230. want to think of the world, okay, And eventually you

  231. will lose sight that hey, even though you face with challenges,

  232. you can actually run to God, you know. And I'm

  233. not speaking these out of you know, something that I

  234. read online or word, but it comes from my own

  235. personal experience as well that when I face with very

  236. heavy circumstances, my first reaction is to run away from

  237. people and to hide from people, and do not want

  238. to talk to people. And I don't even want to

  239. open the word of God.

  240. I don't need to even.

  241. Listen, because sometimes when you're facing with challenges, right, God

  242. always has you to do opposite then your common sense,

  243. and you're like, no, I don't want, you know, And

  244. eventually you will lose that of God, and you will

  245. lose the happiness in you, and slowly you will just

  246. you know, mellow down into deep pit and you just

  247. cannot find peace or hope anymore. And this is how

  248. Warly troubles rocked you away from the giver of joy.

  249. Okay, So that is Wally troubles. And then what else

  250. our own flesh, right, our own flesh.

  251. So in Romans, chapter seven was eighteen to ninety eight says,

  252. for I know that in me, that is in my flesh,

  253. nothing good dwells. For to will is present with me.

  254. But how to perform what is good I do not find.

  255. For the good that I will to do, I do

  256. not do. But the evil I will not to do,

  257. that I practice. So all of us leave to our

  258. fleshly desired, all of us. Sometimes when we look at

  259. certain things, we know that that it's wrong, but we

  260. still do it.

  261. Right.

  262. When you know, I teach young children, right, I always

  263. killing my copala, I always shake my head. They knew

  264. that when they do the thing, they will get into trouble.

  265. Yes, they still do it.

  266. And then they were coming tell me, but teacher, I

  267. do not know. Oh, I'm like yeah, right, you sure

  268. you do not know. Then they were like give me the.

  269. Guilty load and then' like sorry, teacher. And I think

  270. parents can can can attest to that as well. Okay,

  271. they know it very well. The things is wrong, they

  272. still do it. I do not know why.

  273. Okay, Like I said, I don't know why the kids

  274. still do it. Right, same thing, to us. We know

  275. it's wrong, we still do it.

  276. Why? Really?

  277. Why is it because of pre pressure or is it

  278. because it looks cool? Or is it because of I

  279. don't know, But that is our sinful nature. If you're

  280. asking why, that is our sinful nature, because why committing

  281. something that is not right? It's always easier than doing

  282. something that is right, Okay. Think about it. Doing something

  283. that is not right is always easier than doing something

  284. that is right, okay. And our sainful nature is constantly

  285. battling against the spirit that dwells in you know, we

  286. say right, our body is a temple of the Holy Spirit.

  287. The Holy Spirit is always there to tell us that Selina,

  288. that is wrong, don't do. Then I would say, but

  289. I easy to do, Okay, better, better, okay, And then

  290. I lose okay to the Holy Spirit. I'm like, okay,

  291. I don't want to listen to you al ready. And

  292. then I go and do the wrong thing.

  293. And then my heart convicted, know, the Holy Spirit convicted

  294. me that it is wrong.

  295. And then because I already did it right, I feel

  296. the guilt, I feel the shame, I feel the you know,

  297. whatever thing is that I feel, and eventually I would

  298. say that I'm useless, like, can I nobody love me?

  299. La?

  300. I think God also don't love Mela. I do do

  301. so many simful things.

  302. Really, then I start to draw away myself from God

  303. and eventually my true source of joy.

  304. It gets disconnected. Right, So that's our own flesh. Okay.

  305. So that is also another way.

  306. Of how the joy will be robbed away from us

  307. and then the last one people Okay. In Prosapter thirteen,

  308. verse twenty, it says he who works with wise men

  309. will be wise? So what with wise man?

  310. Okay?

  311. People, but the companion of fools will be destroyed. So

  312. what does it mean? The people around us are constantly influenced,

  313. influencing us whether you like it or not. The people

  314. that you hang out with will influence you, okay. So

  315. when you are surrounded with people of negative influencers or

  316. toxic relationship, your peace and joy will be disrupted, especially

  317. when people will always tell you on commented when you

  318. say that, oh no, I think I do something wrong

  319. with my programming.

  320. How and then you're gonna tell your clique.

  321. You can say, you know, like Edy, okay, he does

  322. programming easier to talk, and he's like, oh I do

  323. something wrong.

  324. It probably will cause a million to the company.

  325. And then he went tell the colleague, thinking that the

  326. clique will have your solve problem.

  327. Then say you did something wrong, Diala, come from Diala.

  328. I think I had the boss.

  329. I was your fire you were I think You'll be

  330. said back to Nigeria like Hai, yeah no, nay lie yeah,

  331. Selah tell you a ready, don't do mestay right see

  332. se see tell you Okay. Toxic relationship okay, So okay, Andie,

  333. it's quite up there with that for here could make mistake.

  334. I think it's very anymore. Okay, So that's why you

  335. see as an example. Okay, so these are the people.

  336. If you're constantly surrounding with you like that, right, you

  337. will eventually see the negativity of life more than the positivity.

  338. And then you would think that, yeah, I think I'm doomed. Okay,

  339. I probably will cannot be happy anymore. Okay, I'm gonna

  340. cast a company millions, and then I think I have

  341. to work for them for twenty years, so not enough

  342. to pay back what I cost the loss and all.

  343. And then eventually you will go into working every day

  344. with the square face. Okay, I'm just paying come, money back,

  345. money coming, then you eventually lost the joy and you

  346. will just keep working to pay back. And you were

  347. like Selena ask me cotution, and I need to work.

  348. Selena asked me to handle activ need.

  349. I need to work.

  350. Okay, Eventually you will get this connected from God as well. Okay,

  351. So recognize this. That are the things around us that

  352. will rob us from our joy and you look at it, right.

  353. It is something that we face every single day. This

  354. is no rocket science. It's something that we face every

  355. single day. And if we are not careful anytime, we

  356. will lose to this four categories here. That's why we

  357. have to constantly remind ourselves that we are God's children.

  358. We need to be with him. We need to.

  359. Spend time with him, Okay, in order not to allow

  360. all these external forces to distract us to rock us.

  361. Okay.

  362. So understanding that what causes our causes us to lose

  363. our joy, now let's look into what the Bible says

  364. about joy.

  365. Okay. So just now we talk about that.

  366. You know, joy is not just an emotion, but it's

  367. a fruit that burns out from the spirit.

  368. Right, So now let's look deeper into it. Okay.

  369. So the first one, joy beyond happiness. So remember that

  370. joy doesn't equate to happiness. Okay, It's more than the

  371. surface level happiness that we know. Okay, why a lot

  372. of time we equate it with happiness because we only

  373. think of how the world perceived joy is. You know

  374. how the world perceive joy. If I get uh, you know,

  375. if let's say I study, let's PM, if I get

  376. straight A, I would have joy. If I get into

  377. the company in Malaysia, I will have joy. If I

  378. marry the most handsome husband, then I will have joy.

  379. And then people say that if I have one I

  380. have two kids, one boy, one girl means I'm quite

  381. successful in my marriage, I will have joy.

  382. If my kids grow up getting straight in like me,

  383. I will have joy.

  384. If I earned my first million at the age of thirty,

  385. I will have joy. That is how the world equates

  386. joy with, But that is not how God equates joy with.

  387. Okay.

  388. So in some sixteen verse eleven, it says that you

  389. will show me the path of life in your presence

  390. is fullness of joy at your right hand, a pleasure

  391. forever more.

  392. Okay. And this scripture it.

  393. Tells us that our joy is found in the presence

  394. of God is not on the worldly material, okay. And

  395. Philippin's fad was forced reminded us that rejoice in the

  396. Lord or ways. He didn't say rejoice in the Lord

  397. when you are successful. It didn't say that rejoice in

  398. the Lord when you achieve your dream. It didn't say

  399. rejoice in the Lord. When he says rejoice in the

  400. Lord all ways. And what does always mean? Always mean

  401. that in good times and bad times, we need to

  402. rejoice in the Lord.

  403. Okay.

  404. We rejoice not when circumstances situation improved, but we rejoice

  405. knowing that the Lord is good, knowing that he is

  406. a God that will help us overcome it all.

  407. Okay.

  408. So remember that joy found in the presence of the

  409. Lord is beyond the surface level of happiness. It is

  410. found when we spend time with him. And then it

  411. continued on to say that joy in all circumstances.

  412. Okay.

  413. So remember just when I say that, you know our

  414. joy is not rooted in the smooth saving life okay,

  415. but in our unwavering faith.

  416. Okay. We need to have faith in Him.

  417. We need to plan ourselfs, be rooted in God and

  418. continue to walk by faith and trust that He is good.

  419. You know, sometimes when you are facing the challenges right,

  420. it's very hard to trust. I know when when I

  421. face the situation that even with my own logic, my

  422. common sense, and my whatever says that I can find

  423. in me tells me that it is a dad end.

  424. But the word of the Word of the Lord.

  425. Says trust me. And I find it very hard as well.

  426. But I still have to because why when I cannot

  427. proceed anymore, I still need God to make way for me.

  428. And the only way I can allow God to make

  429. way for me is to trust him. Even when he

  430. said that step out and I feel that, no, I

  431. don't think it works, I still have to step out nonetheless.

  432. And that is what trust means, okay. And we need

  433. to hold onto our faith and knowing that He's always

  434. with us, Okay. Knowing that God is with us, we

  435. are able to overcome all the obstacles that comes our way.

  436. And when we hold on to Him and when we

  437. receive the joy that's from Him, the very joy that

  438. is in earth, will be our strength to face what's

  439. a hit of us. Okay.

  440. So God is able to shield us, okay, from every

  441. frider of the enemy, because why he is our protector.

  442. Okay, he's our defender and.

  443. He will he his word is like the light that

  444. like a path, that is the lamp onto our feet.

  445. That every path that we walk, even though in front

  446. of us is dark. You know, you say that God,

  447. I can't see what's the end. But the Lord say,

  448. look at your feet, one step at the time, one

  449. step at the time, and he eventually he will bring

  450. you towards the destination that he wants you to go.

  451. And why God doesn't show you the final end because

  452. if you're able to see the final end, you will

  453. not trust him. That is the reason why he said

  454. that my word is the lamp onto your feet. He

  455. didn't say that my word is the lamp that is

  456. on your head. Because when the lamb is on your

  457. head for those of you who go hiking and whatever, right,

  458. you know, right, when the lambo on your head, you

  459. can see further. Right.

  460. But if the lamp, try that that's how you're hiking.

  461. You put it on your feet, try and say, okay,

  462. if you fall from the okay you would even though

  463. it's friend.

  464. Okay, on the feet you can only see like probably

  465. this much you need right by this is on your head.

  466. You can see further slightly further, but not very far

  467. unless your lemon is like superpower wor not.

  468. Okay. So that's why we need to hold on to

  469. his word.

  470. And that is the very word that will give you

  471. the joy that will both out and will give you

  472. the strength. So in Medial chapter eighteen, verse twenty, it says,

  473. I am with you always, Deuteron on me that the

  474. one verse eight he says.

  475. That he will be with you.

  476. He will not leave you, nor for sake you do

  477. not fear, do not be dismay he rose thirteen verse

  478. five to six. He says that I will never leave

  479. you nor forsake you. The Lord is my helper. I

  480. will not fear what can man do to me? So

  481. this Trae scripture is a reminder to us that Jesus.

  482. Is always business. Okay.

  483. He is always with us, no matter where we are,

  484. what we are doing, how far we have run away, okay, he.

  485. Is always with us.

  486. Or even when things don't go according to how we

  487. plan it. All right, Jesus is always with us. He

  488. will never leave us nor for saxes. Remember that, okay.

  489. And Psalms one hundred words one to two. It says

  490. that make a joyful shout to the Lord, all you lands,

  491. serve the Lord with gladness, come before his presence with singing.

  492. So the Book of Some is really a very good

  493. book for all of us to meditate upon because it

  494. always reminds us. Okay, the Book of Sam's is written

  495. by the Psalmis, and some of it is written by

  496. King David. You'll known the different circumstances that King David

  497. went through, right, and did he like I lost the war? Ready,

  498. maybe I don't want to serve God anymore. No, God

  499. take my child. Ready, I don't to serve him anymore?

  500. You know he did not. But yet he come up

  501. alive again, and he praised the Lord. No in his situation, right,

  502. I always every time when I read the story of

  503. King David, right, and I always tell the Lord, if

  504. I am in his position, Lord, I probably would have

  505. scored you, like I don't know one one time? Ready,

  506. why do you put me in this situation?

  507. But yet King.

  508. David never, he will just like probably go into mourning

  509. for a while, and he come up and he prays

  510. God again. And that's why in the Bible he is

  511. called the man after God's own heart, So that is

  512. something we can do as well, regardless of your circumstances.

  513. Sometimes you can be very angry with God.

  514. Is like, no, Lord, I pray so hard, Why you

  515. didn't answer my prayer? You know? But be like King David.

  516. Still praise him. And how can King David do that?

  517. That is because he has the joy that is in him,

  518. knowing and trusting that God will make things true for him.

  519. Amen? All right? And some study was fivee.

  520. It says that whipping me and you're for a night,

  521. but joy comes in the morning.

  522. Okay.

  523. He remind us to continue to trust him that God's

  524. joy will transcend our sorrow. Okay, things may be difficult,

  525. but remember that his promises are always yes.

  526. An Amen. It will bring hope even in grief. Okay.

  527. He keep trusting, keep believing, and keep praying. All right.

  528. And James chapter one.

  529. Verse to the Tree, it says, my brethren, counting all

  530. joy when you fall into various trials. You know, being

  531. a believer of Christ is never a bit of roses.

  532. Let me tell you that.

  533. Okay, My goodness to you is that Jesus will be

  534. with us. But there is nothing shot off challenges when

  535. we walk in His way. Why are there always challenges

  536. is so that our faith can be strengthened. Right, And

  537. when we go through these various trials, always remember that,

  538. you know, God, the purpose of God put us into

  539. trials is not to torment us, but it's to build us,

  540. to train us.

  541. You know.

  542. It's just like when we study right exams. Okay, probably

  543. someone you're back to differ. It's not to torment us,

  544. but it's actually to train us to make sure that

  545. we are able to internalize what we have learned.

  546. Okay, Yeah, I know.

  547. Malaysia education system is to train us to memorize textbook

  548. and work omit everything out Okay, because I can.

  549. That's me. Okay, that's me. Okay.

  550. So that's why why I say that's me. Many of

  551. you doesn't know that I'm an IT graduate. Don't ask

  552. me right program, because why I memorized the whole textbook

  553. like it. I went to exam hall, I wanted everything

  554. out and then I come out and I passed. And

  555. every time I tell you I did that, he was like, yeah, okay,

  556. Malaysia education system double a back guy, Okay, but yes,

  557. we are trying to make changes, Okay, there's why with

  558. us as a teacher, we're trying to make changes that

  559. the children will be able to enjoy learning. Okay, but

  560. yes there is education. But come back to trials. Okay,

  561. the trials of this world is our exam It's not

  562. to not to really torment us, but it's to build us.

  563. It's to build us to be a person that is better,

  564. to build us so that we can, you know, be

  565. aligned with God's build and purposes for us. Okay, So

  566. through perseverance, you will eventually reach the other side.

  567. Okay, the other side.

  568. You know, just when I say you walk step by step, right,

  569. you don't know what other challenges. But when you reach there,

  570. you realize that, oh no, there's a big hole that

  571. I need to walk across.

  572. How I can't swim? I can't walk across.

  573. Okay. For those of you who listen to the story

  574. the Bad Hunts, you will know well across it cannot

  575. go underneath. Cannot then how swim through it? Okay, pro

  576. you say that, but I can't swim, But don't worry.

  577. The Lord is there. The Lord will hold you, true,

  578. will bring you true, and eventually, with perseverance and trust,

  579. you will reach towards the finishing line. Right. So yeah,

  580. so remember that counting all joy when you fall into

  581. various trials. I met you, Chapter five, verse eleven to twelve.

  582. It says that blessed are you when they revive and

  583. persecute you and say all kinds of evil against you

  584. falsely for my sake, rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for

  585. great is your reward in heaven, For they persecuted the

  586. prophets who were before you.

  587. So as you.

  588. Continue to trust God, remember that people will persecute you

  589. when you.

  590. Stand firm believing in him.

  591. People will say that, hey, you Jesus freak. People will

  592. say there are not People will say that, yo, why

  593. you so holy one? Okay, they may not call Jesus

  594. freat like because probably they don't even know what's the

  595. meaning of free.

  596. They will say that, wait, so holy one. Well you

  597. go to church every some day, come to work?

  598. Know why?

  599. Why why must you go to church? Playing like pickaball?

  600. Sunday morning the best time? You say today, weather's so

  601. good to play pickaball?

  602. You know?

  603. Or maybe you're like a yo, why are you going

  604. sthing extra? The wake up so early? Come not go hiking?

  605. With me very early on, or maybe you know you're

  606. supposed to teaching X kids. No go es kids have

  607. followed me go marathon.

  608. Okay, I'm not I know this once thought I hit

  609. a lot of people here, but I don't care. All

  610. of you are my friends, right, okay, nobody trade shoot

  611. at me. Oh yes, all good?

  612. Okay. So a lot of things happen.

  613. Okay, yeah, but people will constantly say and when you

  614. tell them that, no, Sunday is the time that I

  615. go to surf God, and they were like, ah, yeah

  616. you are what's the weather always called? Okay, never mind?

  617. Yeah you super holy? And I cannot Yeah, you know

  618. people were saying that to you. I got it a

  619. lot of times during my teenage. No, my campus years. Okay,

  620. all my college friends will say that, hey, Selena, Sunday morning,

  621. let's go Yamta. I say, oh, I'm going back clan

  622. because then you go to church.

  623. Okay.

  624. I used to study in Thai, how you see, and

  625. I stayed in Satapa. So on Friday, last class, regardless

  626. of what time, I'll pack my back and then I'll

  627. go back to Clank. Okay because that time my church

  628. is in Plank. And all of them will say that

  629. you one day, don't go back clan will dievon?

  630. Is it no? Won't die?

  631. But why are you every time you cannot wait until

  632. the next day because my youth group is on Saturday,

  633. so I have to be back, you know, on Friday,

  634. so that I attend youth group on Saturday. Then they

  635. say that what happened if the class is on Saturday morning,

  636. never min after class, I will rush back. Then they're like,

  637. you don't go to church with divon?

  638. Is it no? Won't die? But I will still have

  639. to go to chescha.

  640. And then they always they always give me this uh

  641. what they call it attack line. Never date Selena on

  642. Saturday Sunday.

  643. You will be rejected.

  644. And then they will always say if you want to

  645. date her, you have to book her. Don't know how

  646. many months that once they used to say that. Yeah,

  647. So I say, huber last Saturday Sunday is my day

  648. that I give to God. You want to meet me,

  649. you want a young child with me, you have to

  650. meet me on Monday to Friday at night.

  651. Okay, So that that is what I do.

  652. Okay, But when you make a stand for God, especially

  653. now in the working world, people will always say on

  654. I don't think I want to promote John. Okay, because

  655. why every time ask him to OTI, he will tell

  656. me that I need to go prayer service.

  657. I don't think I want to promote Leona.

  658. Every time asked her to come to work on Sunday

  659. for affairs, she will say that she has to play

  660. keyboard for church.

  661. I don't think I want to promote Eddie.

  662. Every time asked him to come to work OTI on Saturday,

  663. he tells me he got leaders training.

  664. These are the sacrifice that we make when we stand

  665. for God.

  666. But when we don't get the promotion, does that mean

  667. that we are not successful? Does that mean that we

  668. will have to lose the joy? No? Because why we

  669. always believe that promotion comes from the Lord, and the

  670. things that we get back when we put our steps

  671. with God will be greater than what we can see

  672. with our physical eyes. You know. So before I close,

  673. I'm just going to share not a testimony, but more

  674. of a something that I overcome and and how.

  675. This message came about.

  676. Uh, you know when when I shared, when I when

  677. I prepare this message, I wasn't planning to share any

  678. testimony or any of my personal story. Then I sent

  679. to pass any help you know to go through my message.

  680. Okay.

  681. So, just in case you're wondering, does Selena just come

  682. out the message on her own without anyone prof reading? Yes,

  683. our senior minister prof read my message okay, and she

  684. said that Selena, probably you want to add a personal

  685. story to make it more relevant okay to the hero.

  686. Oh God, what story should I share? And God reminded

  687. me of this situation that he helped me overcome. And

  688. this is a story that I have never shared with anyone,

  689. and most of the time I don't feel comfortable sharing.

  690. But I felt that somehow God wanted me to share

  691. because maybe it will blessed at least one person here

  692. or help someone here to even overcome your situation.

  693. Okay.

  694. So for those of you you probably do not know,

  695. but majority of you here know that I'm married, right Okay.

  696. My husband is not here because he is uh serving

  697. in this Royal Rangers ministry to help to set up

  698. this ministry for another church that is in Churrus.

  699. Okay. So so he is there doing the work of

  700. the Lord. Don't worry. Okay. So I'm married.

  701. And we have been married for thirteen years.

  702. Okay, We've been married for thirteen years. Time really flies.

  703. I so do not know how the it became like

  704. the thing years, like just bling off an eye. Okay.

  705. And you know when people found out that I'm married.

  706. This is really a very Asian thing. Everywhere I go,

  707. people will ask how many kids do you have? Oh?

  708. Look at them?

  709. None?

  710. And they will always say that why why you don

  711. want to have a kid? You know, why you don't

  712. to have a baby.

  713. And most of the time I would use a very

  714. superficial and very general, uh what do you call it

  715. answer to them when they ask why you don't have kids?

  716. Now?

  717. Like I say to already, la, okay, yes I'm old. Okay.

  718. If I say I have a baby now, I'll be

  719. the yeah it's no oh oh okay.

  720. You know they will ask okays.

  721. Just just yesterday, I brought my dad for a Christmas

  722. party from from another church for the senior citizen. And

  723. then I met this lady who sat beside me and

  724. she and she asked, oh, how many kids do you have?

  725. I said none? And then the statement that she gave

  726. me is that, wow, you modern lady. I'm like, yoah,

  727. I'm a modern lady.

  728. Okay.

  729. Yeah, So sometimes when maybe family and they will ask, like,

  730. you know, you're married so many years, readly, why you

  731. don't want to have kids and all. Yeah, I just

  732. said that I will always give this reason, Noah, I

  733. don't want to have kids.

  734. Why I want to have kids?

  735. For with kids, there's a lot of things that I

  736. cannot do. Okay, I think I like my life now.

  737. I can do a lot of things without having any

  738. minions behind me.

  739. Mommy, mommy, mommy, mommy, mommy, mommy, mommy.

  740. Okay, yeah, So these are the reason that I always

  741. give to people, and people who knows me well, they

  742. will know that I love children.

  743. I love children.

  744. And if you ask me when I first got married,

  745. do I have a desire to have kids of my own?

  746. Of course, So it is not a.

  747. Decision by choice, right, It's not a decision by choice.

  748. And it is due to circumstances that I cannot have kids. Okay,

  749. don't ask me what circumstances. It's very p andc to share,

  750. so I'm not going to share. So I can tell

  751. you that it's due to circumstances I cannot have kids.

  752. And then of course there are people will say that

  753. hi you can go and do I v efma, you

  754. can go?

  755. And what was that adult?

  756. Ma?

  757. And all?

  758. And then I can tell you that beyond circumstances that

  759. I cannot have kids. If to think about all this

  760. doneline line alternative, I cannot afford it, Okay, I cannot

  761. afford it. And hence I told God that you know, Lord,

  762. why like that?

  763. You know?

  764. Every time and when I hear people who tells me

  765. that I'm struggling, you know, I think I'm going to

  766. depression because I married for so many years, I cannot

  767. have kids, you know, Or I hear from people that

  768. you know, I finally saw pray so hard that I

  769. have kids, and then I got a miscarriage, and all

  770. I think, I don't think I'll be able to find

  771. happiness anymore. And they went into depression and all, and

  772. I will go home and I pray that, no, Lord,

  773. I do not want to be in this situation. I say,

  774. whatever it is, I'm going to trust in you. I'm

  775. going to trust that whatever decision that you made for

  776. me is right for me. And if you say that

  777. in this life of mine I will not have kids,

  778. I would trust you so that that is me and

  779. I always, you know, even though, like I said, I'm

  780. old now, okay, and I was thinking that, no, Lord,

  781. how nice it is that I have my own kids.

  782. But eventually I kind of like, you know, a roda. Okay, God,

  783. if you say no, miss Nola, I'm not going to

  784. think so much much. And in this whole process, right, well,

  785. while I'm battling with God, a lot of times I

  786. will go into self pity, you know, I will go

  787. into like just now we say that, who is there

  788. to rob our joy? You know, if I'm not careful,

  789. I will fall into the category of running away from God.

  790. Because Lord, I've done so much for you. You call me,

  791. I go. You tell me to serve.

  792. I serve.

  793. Why is it that my deepest desire you cannot grant me.

  794. I can always say that, you.

  795. Know, I'm not happy anymore. But God is good.

  796. You know. I trusted him, and I keep telling myself

  797. the joy of the Lord is my strength.

  798. No kids, so what?

  799. But the best part is, like I say, right, I

  800. cannot afford to have kids, right, even if you're asking

  801. to girl adout one, I cannot afford because it's like

  802. over night, suddenly have a kids at home?

  803. Okay, how am I going to take care of it?

  804. That is one thing.

  805. But I cannot have a kid on my own. But

  806. God has given me more kids, you know, in the

  807. sense of God children, right, you know, I have never

  808. thought of this. To me, It's like, okay, God children,

  809. probably only the children of my own best friend now

  810. that will be my god children. But I have a

  811. group of girlfriends where all their kids are really really

  812. close to me, and they really love me like I'm

  813. their second mother. And the best part is they always

  814. say that, you know, when I'm not around, you're the

  815. second mother. I have this friend of mine that she's

  816. super hilarious. She always said that I think my son

  817. look like you more than look like me when we

  818. go out, right, you look like the mother more me.

  819. I'm like, hello, excuse me, I say, how is that possible?

  820. She said that every time I go out with you

  821. and my kids, I look like the behind you.

  822. And guess what.

  823. She can never be my cack okay, because her level is,

  824. her level.

  825. Of wealth is beyond me. How can she be my?

  826. But she is to me.

  827. It's like, it's so hilarious that she always say that,

  828. I'm like, no way, But then she say that yeah,

  829. whatever it is, it's just a joke.

  830. But she always reminded me that my kids love you.

  831. And to me is that that itself, it's a reward.

  832. I may not have the kids of my own flesh

  833. and blood, but I have my you know, my my

  834. spiritual children with me, you know, to me in Ampanghua,

  835. my spiritual children harper, my pal paid, I love my

  836. ya noah or my pal paid, you know. And and

  837. the best part, like I say that you know a

  838. lot of parents that they go holiday right their kids

  839. not with them. Their kids are like, oh I missed

  840. my mommy and all you know, I also have you know,

  841. I went for missions. I have I love texting me.

  842. They just certainly I don't forget to eat, right, It's okay,

  843. you know. And and that itself is a reward that

  844. God has shown to me that Hey, though you may

  845. not have kids of your own flesh and blood, but

  846. I have given you spiritual children that will be with

  847. you too.

  848. Okay.

  849. But of course you know Asian, very Asian, right. No,

  850. I want my kids home when I already want the

  851. care of me. But never mind, the Lord will take

  852. care of me, right. But that is something that I

  853. struggle with, you know, but I told God that Lord,

  854. I do not want to lose my joy. I want

  855. to continue to serve you in my own capacity. And

  856. that's why I told God that, Lord, maybe it's your

  857. will that I do not have kids so that I

  858. can continue building your kingdom, so that your kingdom will

  859. have more of your children, you know. And that is

  860. how you know, I overcome my circumstances and how I

  861. understand that. You know, joy is beyond what the world

  862. tells us it is.

  863. So yeah, so.

  864. The next time when you're asking me, you know, when

  865. you want to have kids, you know my answer already,

  866. I told Oh, okay.

  867. All right.

  868. So yeah, so understanding all these I'm just gonna quickly

  869. go go into reminding all of us who can and

  870. who will give us the joy that will give us

  871. the strength to face what's ahead of us. So we

  872. started off reading my chapter eight, verse ten. It says

  873. that do not sorrow, for the joy of the Lord

  874. is our strength. Okay, So a little background of this,

  875. How this scripture came about. It was when you know,

  876. Ezra was reading the law to the people after they

  877. return from exile. Okay, so we know when when when

  878. the Law is being rich to you one by one,

  879. you will realize that, oh no, all the things that

  880. have been practicing for so long is wrong.

  881. Okay.

  882. So when Ezra read the Law to the people, they

  883. realize their sin and then they feel like, you know, okay,

  884. I'm not worthy anymore, I'm not worthy of God. But

  885. Ezra encouraged them to find strength in the Lord because

  886. God is doing a great work in them. God is

  887. trying to transform them. God is trying to bring them

  888. out there from the situation where they feel they are

  889. not worthy into someone worthy.

  890. To be loved by God. So it's the same thing.

  891. You know, when you.

  892. Feel convicted of the wrongdoing that you have done, don't worry.

  893. God is doing a great work in you, and God

  894. will restore the joy that the enemy has stolen. And

  895. the joy that God will restore to you. It will

  896. be your strength to overcome every circumstances, all right.

  897. So p.

  898. Sixteen, verse eleven, it says that, okay, he will show

  899. us the path. Okay, in the presence of God. That's

  900. fullness of joy. So remember that spend time in the

  901. presence of God. Spend time in the presence of God

  902. every time you feel that you want to be defeated.

  903. Remember what I said, God, I do not want to

  904. be in a defeated situation. I want to be in

  905. your presence. I want to find peace and contentment in you,

  906. knowing that every step that I take you will lead

  907. me towards the.

  908. Final destination. Amen. So how you can do that?

  909. Spend time reading his words, spend time praying, spend time

  910. worshiping him in your prayer closet. Okay, And then, last

  911. but not least, John fifteen, vers. Four to nine, The

  912. word says, abide in me and I in you. As

  913. the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides

  914. in the wine, neither can you unless you abide in me.

  915. I am the wine. You are the branches. He who

  916. abides in me and I in him bears much fruit.

  917. For without me you can do nothing. If anyone does

  918. not abide in me, he is cast out as a

  919. branch and is readed. And they gathered them and throw

  920. them into the fire, and they are burnt. If you

  921. abide in me and my words abide in you, you

  922. will ask what you desire, and it shall be done

  923. for you. By this, my father is glorified that you

  924. bear much fruit, so you will be my disciple. So

  925. the key what here is abide in Him, that you

  926. will bear much fruit. What fruit, which is the fruit

  927. of the Spirit. So when we abide in Jesus, our

  928. source of strength, our source of hope, our source of joy,

  929. we will bear the fruit of the Spirit, and one

  930. of it is joy, and we will have the joy.

  931. Okay.

  932. So if you desire the joy of the Lord, you

  933. just need to cling on to Jesus, Okay, Only then

  934. you will truly experience the fullness of joy.

  935. Amen.

  936. So let's remember that you know, Christmas is not just

  937. about decorations and gifts.

  938. Okay.

  939. It is not about going to different shopping malls to

  940. find the best Christmas decoration. Okay, But that also doesn't

  941. mean that you don't go last still go okay, but

  942. remember the whole purpose of Christmas.

  943. Okay.

  944. If you're wondering what gift to get for your loved ones,

  945. give them the gift of salvation. Give them the of

  946. joy that you have found in Jesus. So remember that

  947. the joy that I mentioned today is that it is

  948. not the temporal joy that we are looking for.

  949. It's not the worldly joy that we want. But it

  950. is the.

  951. Spiritual joy that will remain step fast, the spiritual joy

  952. that would last forever, the spiritual joy that will be

  953. able to help us to push thrue every circumstances. And

  954. the only way we can receive this spiritual joy is

  955. to receive Jesus into our heart.

  956. So remember that Christmas.

  957. You know, it's a time for us to remember that

  958. God's unfeeling love towards us. It is the best gift

  959. that God has given to us, the best gift that

  960. God has given to mankind. It is because of Jesus

  961. can have eternal life. It is because of Jesus that

  962. we can come back to our other Father once again.

  963. It is because of Jesus that we can be set

  964. free from our circumstances. It is because of Jesus that

  965. our mind can be renewed and that our hearts can

  966. be changed, so that you know, we can live a

  967. life that is free from the bondages of sin, free

  968. from the situation where the enemy wants us to be in.

  969. So this morning, now it's already afternoon, that as you

  970. come into this place, I just want to pray for

  971. all of us.

  972. Maybe you have come into this place.

  973. And you will find it hard in this season to

  974. find joy once again. Maybe you are going through certain

  975. circumstances that you know you say that.

  976. I don't think there's.

  977. Any way out, Or maybe you have come into a

  978. place feeling hopeless and you want the joy once again.

  979. I want to pray for all of us here. You know,

  980. Let's not lose the joy that God desire for us.

  981. Let's not allow the enemy to have any position in

  982. our life. Let's continue to take some time to look

  983. at God's hand in the little moment of our daily

  984. life and start.

  985. Giving thanks to Him.

  986. So remember that you know, we are not alone in

  987. this journey. We are not alone in our struggles. We

  988. are not alone. We may be alone physically in this world,

  989. but we are not alone in our journey with God.

  990. He is always here with us.

  991. If you are.

  992. Coming with a situation that you know, you feel that,

  993. I don't think people will understand, just like my situation

  994. that you know, all this while I struggle with God,

  995. and I say that, no, Lord, I seriously do not

  996. know how to articulate the struggle that I have too people.

  997. I really do not know how to tell people what

  998. I really wanted I really don't know how to share

  999. this situation with people, because why a part of me

1000. is that, Lord, I do not want to hear all

1001. the one thousand and one suggestions people will give it

1002. to me, and I do not want as people give

1003. me the suggestions, only for me to tell them that

  1004. you know, I can't this, I can't that. And it's

1005. really a very tired journey.

1006. But Lord, I know that when I tell.

1007. You, you will never give me a suggestion.

1008. You will always give me a direction.

1009. And the direction that the Lord has given to me

1010. is to look at him and trust him. So the

1011. same thing that I'm gonna share with you all, maybe

1012. you will have come into a situation just like me

1013. that Lord, I really do not know who I can

1014. tell and how I can tell. But Lord, I know

1015. I can tell you. I know that I can trust you.

1016. I know that when I hold on to you the

1017. joy that is in me that is slowly.

1018. Diminishing, you will be there to fend it up again.

1019. You will fend the fire once again so that I

1020. can continue to be joyous in serving you.

1021. I can continue to be.

1022. You know what in this journey with gladness, with fullness

  1023. of joy, Amen.
