You're listening to a message to go from X Church.
-
We hope this message will light up your day. We
-
are now currently doing this series called Unpacking the ex
-
Church Vision Series. Okay, like I said, EX Church is
-
ready twenty five years old, and sometimes as we grow up,
-
it's good to get a reminder of who we are
-
meant to be. Sometimes we may you know, get a
-
little bit sidetracked, or we may get busy or distracted
-
with the things of life. And so it's good even
-
as an adult, right, we get reminded of you know,
-
our roots, who you know we're already called to be,
-
and what we're meant to do with our lives.
-
So same like a church.
-
We're twenty five years old this year and next year
-
the theme that God has given us as a church
-
is called what's the theme.
-
For next year? Leaders have counting on you?
-
Re revival, that's right. So every year God gives us
-
a theme which is a specific direction for the year
-
for our church. And the theme for this year is
-
disciple First. Yeah, it's about discipleship, about being disciple and
-
discipling others.
-
Now we're going to cross over to next year.
-
Ready, it's Christmas, right, and so The theme for next
-
year is.
-
Going to be revival. Revival.
-
Now, when I say the word revival, what comes to
-
your mind? Can I hear an answer from this side?
-
When I say revival, what comes to your mind? Don't worry,
-
Just give me the first answer that comes to your mind.
-
Doesn't have to be a spiritual answer. Okay, this I
-
get ready here because I'm going to hear from you. Okay,
-
when I say revival, what do you what comes to
-
your mind? Come back to life again?
-
Yeah? Very good, Thank you, Joshua.
-
Yeah, that's that's one of the definitions of revival, coming
-
back to life.
-
Yeah.
-
I used to be involved with reviving quite a number
-
of people medically. Okay, So, like any said, I am
-
a real doctor. I am a legit doctor, okay, not
-
a quack doctor. And I actually used to work in
-
hospital Kuala Lumpur, which is just down the road, actually
-
just a few I think few kilometers was the hospital
-
that I used to work in. And I used to
-
be involved in reviving a lot of patients who collapsed.
-
We have to do CPR, we have to shock them,
-
inject stuff, break their ribs to bring them back to life.
-
So I used to be involved with that literally bringing
-
people back to life.
-
That was a privilege.
-
And okay, can I hear this like when I say revival,
-
what comes to your mind?
-
Fire? Yes, fire, says the mama on fire.
-
Oh by the way, Leoni, you guys did an amazing
-
job on extreme really really felt the presence of God.
-
Yeah.
-
For me, a sign of how I feel God's presence
-
is I start tearing. Yeah. I don't know about you,
-
but for me, when I start tearing in church, I
-
know God is here. God is and I really felt
-
his presence. Thank you, Leona. You know I just want
-
to just I try a little bit. Singing Christmas carols
-
can be.
-
Very very powerful. Okay.
-
Can I just show a picture of grandparents with grandchildren? Okay,
-
so I show you just now my husband's picture.
-
Right.
-
So, just this week we had a privilege of going
-
back to Quantan as a family. And so this is
-
my mom in law, the beautiful lady in the middle
-
wearing rad together, my father in law, my children, and
-
my nephew and niece were there as well. Now, my
-
mom in law, right, she was a pre believer for
-
many years and what day when her neighbor's house had caroling,
-
she actually saw angels around her neighbor's house, and at
-
that point in time she knew Jesus is the real
-
God and she got safe true Christmas carols. So never
-
ever underestimate the power of singing carols in or out
-
of church. In fact, we she's singing out of church
-
even more the power of worship because it just brings
-
down God's presence. It brings down God's angels. And my
-
mom in law saw angels during Christmas caroling at her
-
neighbor's house and she got safe. And now today she's
-
on fire. Although if you see my mom in law,
-
she's like this because there's a problem with her back.
-
She's bent over, she's leaned sideways. But she's still serving
-
in church. She's doing what Selena is doing right now.
-
She's teaching children in church at her age seventy plus.
-
Like this, that's a life that has experienced God personally,
-
is revived and continues to serve Him no matter what happens. Yeah,
-
and so I just wanted to share that as something
-
to encourage you, the power of caroling, of worshiping, bringing
-
God's presence, God's angels down to touch and to transform lives. Okay,
-
now we shall get into the message proper, okay.
-
So we are like I said, the theme for.
-
Next year is revival, and so Leona said fire okay,
-
and I for me, one of the angles of revival
-
is coming back to the original. So revival can have
-
many meanings, coming back to life, being on fire for
-
God and coming back to the original what and who
-
we are meant to be and do? And so that's
-
why we are going through this series. It's actually preparing
-
us for next year to come back to Hey, actually,
-
who did God call ex church to be a What
-
did he call us to do? Maybe we are not
-
sure or we're forgotten or got distracted along the way.
-
Twenty five years old already as a church. Some of
-
you are new as well. So it's good that everybody
-
comes back to the same page so that we can
-
run forward together as God's Church.
-
Amen. Amen, So that's why we're doing this. Now. Can
-
I see those of you who have your book? Can
-
you wave it to me? Yeah? Okay? Who doesn't have
-
a book?
-
Okay?
-
Please raise? Okay.
-
Can our host maybe get some of our friends who
-
do not have a book yet or forgot to bring okay, norries?
-
Maybe uh do you have the photocopy.
-
Okay, those who who need to refer to the notes today,
-
if you already have a book, you can still get
-
a photocopy from us, so it will help you as well.
-
So for this series, we need you to bring your
-
work book every week.
-
Okay, it will help you. Now.
-
I believe last week Elder Kenya was here, right, and
-
he started us off on this series. I'm going to
-
continue today. I'm the second relay runner. They're going to
-
be formal relay runners okay in January, yes, I believe. Yeah,
-
Selena should be one of them. Duel also should be
-
one of them. So yeah, just just be open to
-
what God has to say through each of us every week.
-
All right, Now let's go to the recap. Yeah, okay,
-
so we as we started this series. Okay, it's called unpacking.
-
Everybody say, unpacking the vision.
-
Of ex Church. Yeah, now why do we unpack? Yeah?
-
We unpacked so that we can understand the vision. But
-
not only an understand. After we understand, we hope that
-
all of us can undertake the vision. It's just like
-
sharing with you a recipe, right, you don't just want
-
to understand the recipe, you want to actually try it
-
out so that you can taste good food.
-
Similar. Okay.
-
So we don't just want to hte knowledge as we
-
go through this series. We want to be able to
-
translate it to our heart, to our hands, to our feet,
-
to our mouth, to the world around us.
-
Amen man, Okay. So we unpacked to understand and undertake.
-
And we also in the last week we learned or
-
we were we were reminded about the big vision. Everyone
-
say big vision, big vision, yeah, which is based on
-
the word of God, not on the word of men.
-
So if anybody asks you what is ex church vision
-
based on, you cannot say is based on Pasta Kennov's
-
word or Selena's word. No it's not. It's based on
-
God's word and God's word alone.
-
Okay.
-
So our big vision is based on Habercook two fourteen
-
and also Genesis one twenty eight.
-
Right.
-
And in these two verses, right, what are the similarities. First,
-
God wants us to feel the earth and how to
-
be fruitful and multiply to make disciples and why so
-
that we can have dominion, not in a bad way,
-
but in a good way, to have influence for God.
-
Because if you think about it, when God first made
-
the heavens and the earth, and God made men without sin.
-
Everything belonged to God. And then because men and women
-
were tempted and they sin, they disobey God. Then that's
-
how sin and the enemy came into the world. And
-
that's why we have so many issues up to this day.
-
But we want to take back the world for God
-
because the world actually rightfully belongs to God. Yeah, and
-
so that's why we want to have dominion, We want
-
to have influence as God's people to take back this
-
world for him is rightfully his right. Okay, now let's
-
go on. Okay, So in the next line. So in
-
the last session, I believe, Elder Kenya also shared that
-
as we unpack issue, leaders to action. Like I said
-
earlier on right, and you may say, what how do
-
I think action? Now? I don't know where to start.
-
I don't know what to do. So Pastor has shared
-
with us seven ways we.
-
Can take action.
-
Yeah, okay, It's just like for example, we say I
-
want to lose ten kilos, Where do I begin? Do
-
I start with my diet first? Do I start with
-
my exercise first?
-
Where do I begin? Real story? He's kidding, So we
-
are showing you how to begin?
-
Ah, all right, just like you wanna lose me, this
-
is how you want to gain that spiritual wada.
-
Where do you begin?
-
So there are seven piece all listed here, and last
-
week I believe Elder Kenyak covered the first P to
-
the fifth P and this week we are still going
-
to be on the fifth P. Then in the coming
-
weeks we will move on to the last two piece.
-
So this week we are at prepare everyone say prepare, okay,
-
all right, now let's move on to the next slide. Okay,
-
So just now we talk about the big vision, which
-
is to fill the earth by making disciples so that
-
we can have dominion. Today we are going to be
-
focusing on the big mission. Everyone say big mission, yes, okay.
-
And the big mission of EXTS Church is very simple
-
into words, make disciples. Turn to your neighbor and say
-
make disciples.
-
Okay. Now let's go on to the next light.
-
When we talk about the vision of wanting to fill
-
the earth with the knowledge of the glory of God,
-
it may sound very abstract and very daunting to us. Again,
-
where do I begin? Right, So we break it down
-
to something bite size for you. We break it down
-
to an action step called be fruitful and multiply. If
-
each of us can be fruitful and multiply, then slowly
-
we can actually feel the earth with the knowledge of
-
the glory of God, everyone doing their part. Yeah, but again,
-
still seems a bit abstract, right, How do I be
-
fruitful and multiply? Still seems a bit abstract? How many
-
of you at this point still feels a bit abstract?
-
Raise your hands, don't worry. Okay, good, good, good. I
-
just want to know. Yeah, if I was sitting in
-
your shoes, I will also think. Okay, it still sounds
-
a bit abstract. So we're gonna break it down even
-
more so. Being fruitful and multiply can look like three things. Okay,
-
I'm gonna share with you three things of how being
-
fruitful and multiply looks like intangible action steps. Okay, Number one,
-
being fruitful and multiply can look like this making disciples,
-
Making disciples. And we don't just want to make disciples,
-
because everyone can do that, you know, raise someone, follow them,
-
But we want to make disciples that make the difference
-
for God.
-
So we want to.
-
Make disciples, but not just make disciples and followers like
-
everybody else in the world. Influencers make disciples. CEOs or
-
big companies make disciples. Politicians make disciples. But we've got
-
to be careful what kind of disciples are we making.
-
It's going to be Jesus disciples. So make disciples that
-
make the difference. If we are a Jesus disciple, confirm
-
we will make the difference in our world. Everything that
-
we touch, every path that we walk, every life that
-
we encounter, will surely not be the same. Again, that
-
is a mark of a true Jesus disciple. But you
-
can have disciples of influencers. You can have disciples or CEOs.
-
You can have disciples or of politicians. May they make
-
the difference in the world. Not necessarily so, But Jesus
-
disciple will for sure make the difference.
-
Wherever we go.
-
Yeah, God says in Joshua, right, I will give you
-
every ground that you tread upon. There must always be
-
transformation in every step that we take as Jesus disciple. Okay,
-
Now number two, how does being fruitful and multiply look like? It?
-
Can look like this as well? By producing leaders producing leaders,
-
So we don't just want to produce disciples who follow
-
after Jesus and also help others to follow Jesus. We
-
want these disciples to grow to become leaders. Another word
-
for leaders is pioneers. What do you understand by the
-
word pioneer. What does pioneer mean to you? Start something
-
very good? Start something?
-
Yes, Because technically, if you are a leader, you lead
-
the way.
-
When you start something, you're leading others to follow in
-
that something new that you're starting, right, So that's why
-
leaders are pioneers.
-
Pioneers are leaders.
-
Okay, And in the last session, I believe, Elder, can
-
you already said that every one of us can be
-
a leader, not just people who are trained, who have
-
a formal title. No, no, no, all of us can
-
be leaders for God. If we're already influencing someone, that
-
makes us a leader already.
-
Yeah. Now, we want to turn.
-
Every pre believer to be a partner, right, and every
-
partner to be a pioneer, a leader, and every pioneer
-
to be a parent.
-
So what this means in simple.
-
English is we want to help every pre believer that
-
comes to ext church get safe and follow Jesus. There
-
is being a disciple, there is being a partner. But
-
don't just remain here, grow to become a leader who
-
helps to draw others closest, lead others closer to Jesus.
-
Be a pioneer, and then, finally, don't just remain there,
-
become a parent. A parent basically means someone a leader
-
who is able to reproduce other leaders, a leader who
-
is able to reproduce other leaders. If you think about it,
-
in life, right, many of us go through the natural
-
life cycle.
-
We grow up.
-
We cannot stop growing up, right. Nobody here can say
-
stop growing up or reverse grow up like Benjamin Button cannot.
-
But like it or not, we will all grow up. Yeah.
-
I've just started to see white hair come out.
-
Oh okay, I take it as style.
-
Yeah, I can't stop it, right, I can color it,
-
but it's still going to come out. And so we
-
can't stop growing up physically, Why then do we stop
-
growing up spiritually?
-
We should also grow spiritually. And I see a big
-
note from Sister Julie. Amen.
-
Yeah, we've got to also be willing to grow up spiritually.
-
Don't just remain as a child spiritually forever, God has
-
meant us to grow as well in our spirit.
-
Okay, and this is how we can grow Okay.
-
Now, the next slide still on the second way that
-
be fruitful and multiply can look like produce leaders. Okay,
-
so Pasta said, you plan a disciple, you will produce
-
a leader. It's just that you plan a durant seed,
-
you will rip a durant fruit. Yeah, you plan a disciple,
-
you produce a leader. Maybe some of you say, okay,
-
I want to be a leader for God. I want
-
to influence others towards Him. Where do I begin? It
-
starts with you being a disciple first, because we can
-
never be a leader for God unless we are a
-
disciple first. If not, it will be the blind leading
-
the blind. How can I lead others to follow Jesus
-
when I'm also not following after his man or woman
-
who is leading me closer to him? Right?
-
Okay?
-
So for example, in our church, Pastor knd Of planted
-
past the Lezras in Botswana many years ago, and today
-
he is leading our churches in Botswana. Yeah, we've got
-
tree church plants there already. From one become tree. Passa
-
Kenna planted pasta Beanji in Osaka and today with ex
-
Osaka that is growing. Pasta Kenna planted pasta Joel in
-
Melbourne and today they are also growing. I had a
-
privilege to visit ex Melbourne just a few months ago
-
and they are definitely growing.
-
Yeah. And so Pasta planted different disciples in different parts
-
of the world, and today they have grown to be
-
leaders for God's kingdom in their part of the world.
-
The continent of Africa, country of Japan, Australia.
-
Yeah, okay, so passes it.
-
When we plant the seed of a good disciple in
-
good soil, we get many, many folds, over thirty times,
-
over one hundred times over. The possibilities are limitless, okay.
-
So what we get when we plant a disciple as
-
a seed, the fruit is a leader.
-
Okay.
-
So as maybe some of you are already being disciple, create,
-
continue on and one day you will see the fruit
-
of leadership.
-
In your life.
-
This world needs leadership in the right sense, in God's sense,
-
because now this world is becoming more crazy as everyone
-
wants to do their own thing, fight for their own rights.
-
I don't know.
-
Now truth has become so great, right has become wrong,
-
wrong has become right, you know I'm talking about we
-
need people who will lead men coming back into the
-
right way, God's way.
-
And that's why leaders are important.
-
Yeah, don't shy away from being a leader, because that's
-
how you are going to bring God's kingdom here on earth.
-
You say, oh, I want my family member to be safe,
-
then be his leader in your family. I want my
-
children to be saved. Be God's leader to them. I
-
want my marketplace to be safe. Be God's leader in
-
your marketplace. If you don't lead people to God, who will? Right,
-
I can be in your marketplace. I can be in
-
your family, but you are there. So really this is radical.
-
But we say God, I want to see people around
-
me safe. Then really the big.
-
Step of faith towards that is there to be God's
-
leader wherever you're planted and lead them to Christ. Amen.
-
Okay, next, okay, number three, how can be fruitful and multiply?
-
Look light? Yeah?
-
So it's like, Kayla, I show you. I call it
-
my mau mau Bible because it has a lot of
-
mau mau. It's very furrey. I need to fix the
-
skin soon. It is, but same Bible, but different angles.
-
Right.
-
You see the front cover, you see the back cover,
-
you see the sides. So this is what we're doing
-
with this point. Okay, same point, different angles.
-
Right.
-
So number three, how can we be fruitful and multiply
-
is to raise and release Daniels Daniels into the marketplace.
-
Say Daniels, anyone called Daniel here? Not yet?
-
Not okay, not yet, Leona, No Daniels in your Daniel
-
laying okay before we joy us kneezing there ready, Okay,
-
So we again, this is how we can be fruitful
-
and multiply. Right, we say we want to, you know,
-
take our marketplace for God. How can we do that
-
is by being willing to be raised and sent out
-
as Daniels into our marketplace. People may never step into
-
a church, people may never encounter our spiritual practices, but
-
people know you, People encounter you.
-
So you are the walking Church.
-
You are walking Christ wherever you are at. And therefore
-
that's why this is what Daniel became. He became the
-
walking Church, the walking Christ in his marketplace, which is
-
in the courtyard of the Kings. Not just one king,
-
he served four kings, different kingdom somewhere. Yeah, all right,
-
So we want to be raised and released as Daniels
-
into our marketplace because we may be the only Jesus
-
and Church that people will ever.
-
Encounter in their lives.
-
Now, God, wants us to folks, So question, wish mountain
-
or mountains of influence in your life?
-
Is God leading you to take.
-
All of us have our mountains of influence wherever we
-
are at. Choose one mountain, one area of influence in
-
your life. God is leading you to take now at
-
this season. Maybe next season is another mountain. Okay, have
-
a think about it. God wants us to focus on
-
growing deep roots to produce good fruit. And we say, God,
-
how do we grow deeper in You? What? Grow deeper
-
into His word? Into His word? His word really is
-
our life. Amen, And we want to grow deeper into
-
His word. Maybe can I just sidetrack here a little bit.
-
Let's all turn to Psalms chapter one. Okay, this is church,
-
go to turn to the word of God.
-
Amen. Amen.
-
So this is one of my favorite portions of scripture.
-
Psalms chapter one, verse Okayler, we'll go all the way
-
from verse one to verse three.
-
Okay, very cool. Okay, I'm just gonna read it.
-
Blessed is the man who walks not in the council
-
of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners,
-
nor sits in the seat of scoffers.
-
Verse two. But his delight is in the law.
-
Of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day
-
and night.
-
Verse three.
-
He is like a tree planted by the streams of water,
-
that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf
-
does not whither. In all that he does, he prospers.
-
Don't you want to be like that in life? We
-
know that in life all kinds of seasons will come
-
and go, but we want to remain planted anchered in
-
the Lord. No matter what season of life you are
-
going through, even the difficult ones, we want to remain alive.
-
We want to not just survive, but we want to thrive.
-
We want to flourish no matter what seasons we go through.
-
And being dead in a way that last man standing
-
in whatever season you're going through.
-
That's going to bring glory to God.
-
People are going to wonder everyone has died in this season.
-
How come you're the only tree that is standing. Then
-
that's how you can introduce them to our God. You
-
want to know my secret why I'm still alive and
-
not just alive, but I am driving. When there's a draft,
-
there's a famine, I am still driving. My leaves are green.
-
I have plenty of fruits. My secret is because my
-
roots are upon the world of God. He is my
-
living water. My roots are deep underneath the ground, even
-
though the surface looks dry and barren. That's how we're
-
going to introduce people to our God who keeps us
-
not just surviving, but driving to the famines of life.
-
Amen.
-
Amen, Okay, right, So I just wanted to expound on
-
this point a little bit more, going why it is
-
important to go deep into the world. Okay, Now let's
-
move on to the next slide. So the overall picture,
-
this is actually like the most important slide. And I
-
know in our book the is a little bit small,
-
but for me I actually highlighted because it's important enough.
-
Right if you forget everything that we say to you,
-
just remember these tree lines.
-
What is the vision of ex church?
-
That is to have dominion over the earth, not in
-
a bad sense, but in a good sense, to be
-
His influences.
-
Okay, and how do we do that? The mission? How
-
we get there is.
-
True discipleship, making this disciples and the specific direction is
-
to be a Daniel in our marketplace, raise and send
-
out dar nils.
-
Okay, all right, are we going to move on yep. Okay, cool.
-
Now let's go on to the next point. Okay, God
-
doesn't want us just to be EX Church as a branding.
-
Oh it looks so good, it sounds so good, it
-
feels so good to be an ex church. But God
-
wants X to be more than a brand. He wants
-
us to be a lifestyle. Everybody say, live style lifestyle
-
you know why. Let's go on to the next slide. Honestly, right,
-
like I said, not everybody in your circle of influence
-
will get to step into EX Church. Some of the
-
people you know may never get to step into X church.
-
And even if they get to step into X church,
-
they may not fully understand what we're doing. What is
-
this worship? How come got bells on the on the
-
feet when you know?
-
What is this?
-
Well? Why this person talks so longer in front of
-
are you there? Another person talks so longer? What is
-
this praying? A whit white touch touch one?
-
Why? Why why white closed eyes one? You ah, they
-
want my money? Or why? Why you get what I mean?
-
For a person who is not used to church, they
-
may not get what we're doing, but you know what
-
they get. They get it when you are punctual for
-
your appointment or responsibility, they get it. They get it
-
when you give your best and you show an excellent
-
spirit in your studies, in your work, in your labor.
-
They get it when you are caring to its them,
-
when you take notice of what they're going through, when
-
you offer to help them or be patient. They also
-
get it when you offer to pray for them and
-
many other things. See you get where I'm going now,
-
they get our ex off.
-
All this ects of care, X.
-
Of service, ecxs of kindness, ex of friendship, et cetera.
-
And so people may not get Church, people may not
-
get Christ straight away as well, but people will get
-
these practical ecxs of dot dot dot. And that's how
-
we connect with pre believers through these practical acts of
-
And this was an image and vision that got downloaded
-
to pass the kind of a few years ago.
-
And we want to share this with you.
-
Okay, all right, So next light, So to connect to
-
to help someone know Christ, the first step is to
-
connect with him. And to connect is to be able
-
to make sense even before we make disciples. If we
-
are not making sense to the world around us, people
-
won't border about knowing our Jesus, what kind of person
-
is this? I don't even have common sense in living life.
-
I don't want to know his God. If his God
-
was so great, how come this person no common sense?
-
All right? We don't want that to be the statement
-
of our lives.
-
We want people to say, Hey, while this guy is amazing, la,
-
not only he's amazing, but he's different. He's different from
-
the rest of the people that I know. I want
-
to know what's his secret? Okay, So what kind of
-
sense am I going to make this week? Something for
-
you to think? Don't just think, ah, put it into action. Okay,
-
all right, but what kind of sense are we going
-
to make this week to the people around us who
-
do not know Jesus yet? It can be a very
-
simple thing, like I this week, God helped me to
-
be on time for all my appointments. Maybe there is
-
a big thing already for us to be on time
-
for the whole week, you know, not just one day,
-
two days, the whole week after that, continue on other weeks. Ah,
-
not easy, not easy to be on time with kl
-
trafficer and all of you understand, say amen, okay, next one, Okay,
-
now we're going to move on, right to another part,
-
which is to review some numbers.
-
How many of you here are numbers? People give me away?
-
You love numbers? Oh, Leona, my boy? Okay, tune hong,
-
Okay here halfway. My flag is half raised. Yeah, I'm
-
okay with numbers, but not I don't love it that much. Okay,
-
But numbers are important to God. There's even a book
-
called numbers in the Bible if you didn't know. Okay,
-
and God, numbers are important. The Trinity is a number, right,
-
three Okay, So let's read this together from haber Cook
-
two to two one two three. Then the Lord answered
-
me and said, write the vision and make it plain
-
on tablets that he may run.
-
Who reads it? Haber Cook two two.
-
See. Even God himself says that it's not enough to
-
know the vision, you know, to make it clear to everyone.
-
But we've got to put it into action. We've got
-
two run with it. And that's what we hope for
-
you to do. Even through this series. You'll be so clear,
-
so convicted, you can't help but to start running. You know,
-
like kidser, you feed them a lot sugar, right, they
-
get sugar higher, they cannot control themselves, but they start running. Okay,
-
so yeah, we're trying to feed your spiritual sugar here,
-
so you can't help, but your spiritual feed are going
-
to start running.
-
Running for Jesus in the right way. Amen, Amen. Okay.
-
Now next, like now, okay, I have two sets of
-
numbers to share with you today.
-
One is two digit. One is for digit.
-
Don't go and buy four D after DESA Okay. The
-
first set of numbers, which is two digit, is the
-
number ten. Everyone say ten, okay, so hy ten? Now
-
when pastors shared this unpacking series, right, he actually did
-
it in twenty twenty one January online during the MCO
-
and so at that point in time, it is still
-
the beginning of this decade twenty twenty one, So passes
-
it the focus for ex Church for the next ten years.
-
That mean saying from twenty twenty one all the way
-
to twenty thirty.
-
Is this.
-
Now if you see X Church now is twenty five
-
years old. The first twenty years of ex Church. God
-
called us to be a Joseph church. So when you
-
think of Joseph, you think of the famine and how
-
he built storehouses to feed those who needed food. The
-
storehouse is God's house. So when we are called to
-
be a Joseph church. God spent the first twenty years
-
building us up as his storehouse. But that's not enough
-
because God never meant for us to just get comfortable
-
in being his storehouse. That's where we crossed over into
-
the second twenty years to be a Daniel church. Why
-
do we store up so much so that we can
-
feed others who need the food of God Right now?
-
In twenty fifteen, God gave called us to be a
-
Hezekiah church. If you know the story of King Hezekiah,
-
he was one of the pretty good kings of the
-
Kingdom of Judah, and he felt very sick. He was
-
almost going to die, and then he pleaded with God,
-
and God at mercy, God sped his life and say, Hezekiah,
-
I will add fifteen more years to your life. But
-
in these fifteen years, you have to do what I say,
-
which is to set your house in order. So in
-
twenty fifteen, if we are called to be a Hazarkaiah church,
-
that means the next checkpoint is actually fifteen years later,
-
which is twenty thirty.
-
Okay, just hold that thought.
-
And then in twenty eighteen, God called us to be
-
a Nihi Maya church. Now, don't get confuser, Like I said,
-
all the same thing, the same direction that God wants
-
to get us, but we're looking at different angles. So
-
one angers be a Daniel church. Another angle is be
-
a Hezekiah church. Another anger is be a Nihi Maya church.
-
Same direction God is leading us, just different.
-
Angles of getting there. Okay.
-
So in twenty eighteen, God say be a nehi Maya church.
-
So Nehi Maya existed after King Hezekiah, after the children
-
of Israel was sent into exile, and they returned back
-
to Jerusalem, and they had to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem,
-
rebuild their gates, rebuild their identity as a nation. And
-
so from twenty eighteen, and they took twelve years to
-
rebuild the wall. So if in twenty eighteen God calls
-
to be a nihi Maya church, our next checkpoint falls
-
in the same year, twenty thirty.
-
Okay, Now let's go on to the next line. Okay.
-
So ten At that point in time, Pastor also drew
-
from the story of Daniel.
-
Daniel and his friends.
-
Were carried away into exile to the King of Babylon's palace,
-
and he wanted to make them his mighty men and
-
feed them all kinds of meat, all kinds of maybe alcohol,
-
and different delicacies. But Daniel and his friends, being God's people,
-
said no, we will not partic the diet of the world.
-
We will keep to our diet, which is God's diet.
-
So they only took vegetables and water. And then they
-
said test us for ten days, and see after ten
-
days how we perform. If you think we did not perform, well,
-
then we will eat your diet. But if you think
-
we perform better than the men who eat your diet,
-
let us continue in our diet for the next three years.
-
How many of you hear are on water and vegetables,
-
Now give me a wave, anyone and anyone, okay, maybe
-
once in a while you're on water and vegetables, give
-
me a wave fasting period maybe. So ten days they
-
did that, and they came out buffer, stronger, better than
-
the king's men. And so ten days in the story
-
of Daniel equals ten years for ex Church. So from
-
twenty twenty one all the way to twenty thirty is
-
ten years.
-
Yeah.
-
So in these ten years, God wants us to set
-
our house in order. That's why we're also doing this
-
series because we're getting everyone on the same page. This
-
is part of setting our house in order.
-
Next night I thought we have sorry, let me see.
-
Okay now minds.
-
But in your book, if you can turn to page fifteen,
-
page fifteen, okay, there are more points there. So not
-
just to set our house in order, but to rebuild
-
our identity as a church. Yeah, and God wants to
-
strengthen and make us ready just like Daniel and his friends. Okay,
-
we're gonna move on to the next line. This is
-
the second set of numbers, which I told you is
-
for digits one thousand. We start with one thousand first, okay,
-
times one thousand. Now, how many of you were here
-
before twenty ten? Can I see a wave?
-
Sign me? Wow? Long time? Kenny, yes, Leonard for sure
-
before twenty ten. Maybe not yet. Eddie, so not yet,
-
Kelvin twenty ten? Which month? Okay?
-
Okay, So you're part of this. So those of us
-
who have been around twenty ten and before that, you
-
would have remembered that as a church, we wanted to
-
buy a big building and it was literally called Lord
-
number ten because the number is really number ten on
-
the Jarlant and it was a big factory bungalow lot
-
with land all around, and then got caught back next
-
to it some more double story. Yeah, some of us
-
remember cleaning it so much does and then cutting the
-
la lung. Yeah, preparing for the groundbreaking ceremony which was
-
on ten ten ten, Lord number ten on the tenth
-
of October twenty ten, ten ten ten ten, Wake you
-
out of it? Okay, so definitely very significant. Some of
-
us were part of that, that journey of church ex
-
church trying to buy our own building. Now we raised
-
up I think, yeah, a lot Manila, two over a
-
million for the earnest deposit, and we gave unto the Lord.
-
But God knew better. He didn't want us to just
-
have one big building and stay comfortable there. So God
-
allowed us to actually lose the building. It's a long
-
story for another day, but God actually allowed us to
-
lose the building.
-
Yeah.
-
So maybe some of you you feel that you strive
-
so hard in your life to get something that you
-
really want, only to come to a point that you
-
lose it. Don't be discouraged, don't be disheartened, because maybe
-
that is not God's best for you. What we think
-
is our best may not be God's best for us.
-
He has the best in store. So I don't know
-
who I'm speaking to here, but if you feel like
-
you've lost the very thing that you strive for in
-
your life, know that that is not the end with God.
-
Because maybe that wasn't God's best for you. God has
-
his best for you waiting, right, And so the building
-
Lot ten wasn't God's best for us. He knew maybe,
-
how I mean, what would happen to us if you
-
really got the building? So he allowed us to lose it,
-
and it was a very difficult period for us as
-
a church. If you remember Pastor Kennav he actually shared
-
he almost wanted to give up being pastor of ex
-
church and he wanted to maybe try and go into
-
the marketplace and earn back all the money that people
-
gave to pay back everyone.
-
That was how how I guess how bad you felt.
-
But all the way Pastor has been listening to God's voice,
-
even after the point of losing the building, and after that,
-
our pastor has always been listening to God's voice. So
-
it was not a mistake God allowed to happen. And so,
-
but what came out of it? Turn to your neighbor
-
and say you came out of it, and I'm serious.
-
Turn to another neighbors, say you came out of it.
-
I know it.
-
You're a bit skeptical. How did we come out of
-
a building that was lost? You want to know how?
-
It's because we lost Lot ten that today we have
-
x Unbunk. Today, we have X cyber Jaya. Today we
-
have close to fifty X plants locally and globally. If
-
we did not lose Lot ten, you and I will
-
not be here today on the twelve of eleven of No,
-
it's not eleven fourteen. Oh gosh, I'm looking at the
-
time fourteenth of December. If God did not allow us
-
to lose that one big building, we will all still
-
be stuck there and we will not have church plans
-
all over where.
-
So many more people get blessed? How many of you?
-
Honestly, if church was really in Lo ten, Glenn Marie,
-
near Subang area, you'll be there, be far right. Yeah,
-
So aren't you glad the exambunk is here nearer to
-
where you are at a and so many more people
-
get to rise up? Yeah? Okay, now next point, Okay,
-
So what was a disappointment was an appointment by God.
-
Next light. The building was lost, but we found our vision.
-
God said, don't build a cat treed cathedral for me,
-
but spread out. Okay, next light. Now, if Pastor Kenneth
-
could be used by God to build a church of
-
one thousand people, yes, today we are more than one
-
thousand people. What makes us think that God cannot use
-
you and I to build another one thousand more people?
-
Each person? Pastor himself acknowledged, I am not an extraordinary person.
-
I am ordinary, just like every one of you passes
-
it that any sharing.
-
I am an ordinary man. But we've got He makes
-
it extraordinary. And if He can use me past the
-
say one person to build one thousand people, he can
-
use you too, each to build one thousand people. Do
-
you believe that? Turn to your neighbors, say God can
-
use you. Turn to the other neighbors, say God can
-
use me. I know it sounds very dawnting, but today
-
I'm going to press me in a wild cloth in prayer.
-
We're going to pray that God will really help us
-
to believe believe that it's possible.
-
For God to use you and I.
-
Okay, now, so we dream that God will use every
-
person in ext church. Okay, next line, the one thousand
-
that we already have. We are part of that one thousand.
-
You and I here are part of the initial deposit.
-
We are the deposit of one thousand. Those of you
-
who are good with investments, how can we multiply us
-
the one thousand deposit two more returns? This is the
-
Julius big not there. Sorry, I'm not rare numbers and
-
investment person. I'm trying my invest but you get it now.
-
Okay.
-
So the one thousand that we already have cannot just
-
remain as they are the one thousand lives, right, but
-
they are to be made disciples leaders. And finally, Daniel
-
I shared this earlier on that will be sent out
-
to fill the earth with the knowledge of the glory
-
of the Lord. Here, I want to just pause us
-
for a while. Can we turn to Hosea sixty six.
-
This is something extra, but I thought I want to share.
-
With us Josea sixty six.
-
Okay, I give us a while to find Josea is
-
read after the book of Daniel. Okay, are we at
-
Josea sixty six?
-
Very cool? Okay, So I'm going to read it for us.
-
It says this is what God says a true the
-
prophet Josea, for I desire state fast love and not
-
sacrifice the knowledge of God rather than burn offerings. For
-
I desire stay fast love and not sacrifice the knowledge
-
of God rather than burn offerings. This was a particular
-
scripture that I read during my quiet time this week,
-
and it really spoke to me because some of us
-
wonder why why must fill the earth with the knowledge
-
of the glory of God. I know haveber cook Tool
-
says that I know. Pastor Kenno says that I know.
-
Extra says that, but why are why are whia? This
-
is God himself answering because I desire state fast love
-
and not sacrifice the knowledge of God rather than burn
-
off rings. This is what God really wants. And those
-
of us who are in any form of relationship, whether
-
it's family, friends, romantic, whatever you name it work. We
-
want people to really know us for who we are right,
-
not just assume who we are or have a wrong
-
perception of who we are.
-
You think about it.
-
In every genuine, healthy relationship, we will always want the
-
other party to really know us as well who we
-
really are, and accept us as who we really are
-
and love us as who we really are. And God
-
is the creator of relationships. He too desires to be known.
-
He too desires to be loved. What you're feeling with
-
another human, God also desires it, and that's why we
-
are made in His image. So now can you see
-
why God wants the earth to be filled with the
-
knowledge of the glory of God is because He desires
-
a genuine relationship with all of us.
-
Amen.
-
So I just wanted to add that to us. Okay, okay,
-
we're gonna move on now. So next line. So yeah, okay,
-
so we already have the first one thousand, which is
-
you and I turn to your neighbor and say you
-
and I. Yeah, God will do the reckulous with the
-
other one thousand that are yet to be in His
-
house and kingdom. But our part now is to focus
-
on what we have, the one thousand that we have,
-
which is you and I. Leave the next one thousand
-
to God right next, Like, okay, so here again, Pastor
-
reminded us the bottom line of discipleship is to follow
-
me as I follow Christ. You have follow the leader
-
that God has placed in your life as he or
-
she follows Christ. Next, it's like, now, this one thousand, okay,
-
times one thousand. Pastor actually cautioned us, don't get hung
-
up on the number one thousand times one thousand. I
-
know for us, Sir, I don't know about different ethnicities,
-
but for us Chinese, well, are we really calmed down
-
to the number the that simil the DoD one, you know,
-
if it's really fifty nine point nine nine cents or
-
this producta please give me back by one cent if
-
I give you sixty ring it. Yeah, so we mean
-
Asian Asian background archers. We come from a tough background, right,
-
every sven counts. But don't get hung up or the numbers.
-
It's not about the numbers. Tell yourself, it's not about
-
the numbers. Tell yourself. It's about the spirit. So this
-
one thousand times one thousand. Yeah, if we hit the numbers,
-
great bonus. But it's not about the numbers. It's about
-
the spirit. Pastor wants us to have. This spirit of
-
keep going. One thousand times one thousand can be summarized
-
in the spirit of keep going, just keep going, and
-
we will hit that one thousand by one thousand, okay,
-
And how do we keep going? Keep going in making disciples,
-
keep going in planting churches. We never stopped. Keep going
-
and producing leaders, keep going and producing daniels and sending
-
them out. Keep keep keep going, don't stop. Pastor Kennov
-
at his age over fifty, he planted x kotacker mooning.
-
Someone would think at his level he should just sit back,
-
relaxed and monitor all his startups. That's what a lot
-
of the worldly CEOs do. Right. We SEEO Wi come
-
down and be a executive officer all over again. No way,
-
but Pasta Kennov, that's what he did founding senior Pastor
-
came down to the ground, got his hands dirty, planted
-
x kotucker mooning a few years ago, and he's still
-
constantly planting churches around the world.
-
He keeps going.
-
And I think that's a great example that our pastor set,
-
even at his senior level, at his age. You see
-
now he's got a lot of white hair, so he
-
still keeps going. With his foot limping, he still keeps going.
-
And if our pastor can do that, let's also do it.
-
Let's keep going. Okay, all right, next slide. Okay, yeah,
-
So what at that point in time in twenty twenty one,
-
pastors the vision that God gave Pastor was to see
-
ten thousand disciples in ten years, and so it's almost
-
equating to one thousand new believers and disciples every year.
-
And we want it to be really new.
-
Souls, not just church transfers that they We were having
-
a conversation I think in TSBO with Elder ping Hole,
-
and he was just highlighting to us that the Church
-
of Malaysia right actually hasn't grown in percentage in the
-
last ten years. We are still about ten percent thereabouts
-
the general population of Malaysia. But then you look left
-
right center, it's so many new churches popping up, and
-
you wonder who's feeling the churches. Many times it's church transfers.
-
But we want new souls, friends, We don't just want
-
church transfers.
-
We want new souls. Everyone'say, new souls.
-
Okay. Now, so as we draw to a close, extreme
-
can come up ready. Sorry if I've taken a little
-
bit of time, but because this is teaching, I want
-
you to really get as much as you can. And
-
we're drawing to a close already. Okay, So after all
-
that we talked about Daniels, we talk about numbers. What
-
is our take home point? What is that practical action
-
step to take home? This is it focus on what
-
we already have. Okay, let's go to the next line.
-
Let's focus with our own lives first, because we are
-
part of the initial one thousand. And let's focus on
-
the people that God has given us because they are
-
also part of the initial one thousand. The people that
-
we know in church that are not disciples yet could
-
be your homie, could be your The people that yourself
-
in the same dream team could be your friend, same
-
church plan, lunch kaki, pick up a kaki, but you
-
get it. Let's focus with the one thousand that we
-
have first, which is you and I.
-
We talk about ourselves we disciple yet?
-
If not yet, then can we say yes to discipleship
-
this year? Us pray, pray that God will lead us
-
to the right person to disciple us. God is God
-
cares who disciples you, just like how he cares who
-
is your life partner. He cares which company you work in.
-
If God can care for all that are, don't tell
-
me he won't care for who disciples us. He will
-
trust him. It will be the right fit, the right fit,
-
maybe not the perfect fit, but the right fit. Because
-
what we need is not comfort. What we need is
-
the right thing in life. Many times we look for
-
that perfect fit because we want to feel comfortable with
-
that person. That person takes all our checklists. But maybe
-
that person is not the right fit for us, Like
-
a parent, right. A parent may not always feel comfortable
-
to a child, but it's the right person to raise
-
up a child. So if you're worried, God, Yes, I
-
want to be discipled, but I'm so worried.
-
Who will disciple me? Will it be the right person? Pray?
-
Trust God that he will lead both of you to
-
each other. Okay, if you can do it for your life, partner,
-
he can do it for your school, your work, what
-
more can you not do it for his church? Yeah? Amen,
-
so that's us. If we are already being discipled, then okay, God,
-
how can I grow in my disciple ship walk? And
-
how can I now disciple others? If that's what? Something
-
for those of us who are being discipled to think about.
-
So first is are we being discipled?
-
Not yet?
-
Let's say yes in faith? If we're already disciples, are
-
we discipling someone? If not yet, let's say yes in
-
faith as well, And then pray, and then God will
-
lead you to the right person to disciple as well. Okay,
-
so that's one taking stock of who we have right
-
So like what passes say, we are tiding this first
-
one thousand to him. We're saying, Lord, take me, I
-
want to become your disciple. Take the person next to me,
-
make them your disciple. To take us this one thousand
-
that we have.
-
Take us.
-
We tie ourselves to you so that you can multiply
-
us to reach the many more thousands that you want
-
us to reach. Okay, So this is the end of
-
today's So again the questions that I believe is in
-
our book as well. Let me double check, yes there is.
-
These are the three action steps. When you go back
-
in your quiet time, I encourage you to actually go
-
through these three questions. Who has got given to us
-
in our influence in church? And why do you think
-
He's given them to us? Not a mistake? God never
-
makes mistakes. And what is the best that we can do.
-
To bring out the best in that person? So even
-
for me, this is a good heart check.
-
You know, I personally disciple about ten ladies of different
-
seasons of life. Some are younger than me, some are
-
my peers, some are older than me. But discipleship is
-
not about physical age. It's not even about intellectual age.
-
It's about spiritual maturity. And so sometimes, you know, not
-
all my relationship with the ten ladies are all equal,
-
all nice.
-
Nice, nice, nice, nice nice.
-
Sometimes different seasons, some ladies can be a bit challenging
-
to disciple. Like children, Naha, not all the same. Yeah,
-
there will be days and seasons. And so even as
-
we're going through this series, I feel challenged in my
-
relationship with one of my ladies. I think she's also
-
going to her own season. And then it's a good
-
hard check for me, like why has God given me
-
this particular lady? God did not make any mistake, and
-
how can I bring out the best in her? So
-
I'm also trying to apply what I preach, and I
-
share this with you in all honesty so that you
-
too will be encouraged to apply God's word in our lives.
-
So go back, pray with God. Who has God given
-
each of you? And what can you do to bring
-
out the best in them? So now I'm asking out God. Yes,
-
it's a been challenging to disciple this particular lady at
-
this point in time because she's going through stuff. But Lord,
-
show me, show me, help me how to bring out
-
the best in her. Because you gave her to me.
-
You made no mistake. You made no mistake.
-
So Lord, help me to be a good steward, to
-
steward this life. Well helped me. I can't do it
-
on my own.
