Being hungry for God literally. Okay, So now let let's
-
go to the next one. Next one. Okay, So a
-
little quick question, right, like a trivia trivia? What is
-
the difference between fast food and fasting food? Okay? Okay,
-
think about it. What is the difference between fast food
-
and fasting food? Sounds the same, but very big difference. Okay,
-
So tell me, very very intellectual and smart people, what
-
do you think is the difference? One? God for one?
-
No food? Very good? Well, but the wood looks quite
-
the same, right okay? One got food? One no? For
-
what else? And it is? Okay? Adjectives and objective? You
-
want to explain a bit more more? This is a
-
very deep English. Let's go for an English lesson today.
-
Oh he has a lot of additives? Is it like
-
unhealthy things? Your msg? Is it? Oh? Okay, I'm lost? Okay,
-
but anyway you can help interpret that letter? Okay, Okay,
-
it's different, It's different. Okay, I very simple. If you
-
ask this to a five year old, what do you
-
think they will answer? I'm looking for the answer. Was it.
-
I yo, are you thinking so hard? People? One God,
-
I G and one don't have ig corn on Okay.
-
So interestingly, when I saw that, then let actually the
-
answer is I ANGELA simplistic answer that I'm looking for
-
is ieng. But when I saw the ing, then this
-
tree phrase work came to my mind. I G stands
-
for I need God. Oh boom, wrap it up. Okay,
-
that's it. Okay, service is over. Do you see the
-
difference of that fast for you don't eat God la,
-
but first thing for uni God. Yeah, And so this
-
is where I want to go this morning because you know,
-
in the many years I've been with ex church, right,
-
so I've been in X for about twenty years now,
-
I cannot see right, Yeah, yeah, I know, I know
-
God is good. God is good twenty years since I
-
was a freshly graduated young adult. So I can make
-
you can please together? How old I am? Anyways? Yeah,
-
so I we've been going through these twenty one days
-
of Utah. And first thing, I remember there was a
-
season in our ex church corporate life where we did
-
forty days remember those old jeeza you know that we
-
did forty days after that were like you, we cannot thanks, like,
-
because many found it very difficult. So we say, okay,
-
let's do twenty one days and yeah, so so we've
-
stuck to twenty one days. And do you know that
-
this is also in the season of Lent, right, season
-
of Lent, which is practiced by all Catholics worldwide, and
-
it leads up to what is the ultimate? Yeah, it's Easter,
-
good Friday, Easter, right, and so so that's a season
-
of really just coming to God and repenting. Now, one
-
of the things I've recently sort of been made more
-
aware of in recent years that when we talk about
-
prayer and fasting, especially fasting. You'll understand prayer, but when
-
we talk about fasting, and when I talk to other ones,
-
you know, like what kind of fast are you going into?
-
I have very very different responses. Okay, So so the
-
usual response will be I'm fasting social media, Yes, I'm fasting.
-
Maybe my you know, sweets or coffee my favorite think
-
All right, And so we did this at our homes
-
just last Friday, talking about prayer and fasting. And one
-
of my homies who's a long time Christian but she's
-
new to act a long time Christian, and she's like,
-
you know, but I'm not tempted by food, So why
-
should I fast? Right? You know, I eat very little anyway,
-
so why should I fast? And so that got me thinking, right,
-
so actually, what is the reason of fasting? And if
-
we want to draw back to scriptures, right, the only
-
kind of fast that is mentioned in the Bible that
-
you and I know is a food fast. It's a
-
food fast. You know, it's abstaining from food, and so
-
in you know, maybe in this day and age, that
-
becomes like it's okay, I don't need to fast food.
-
I just need to fast other things, because what's the
-
whole reason is to remember and get back to God.
-
But I want to tell you that there is a
-
reason that God instituted Jesus himself fast right, Jesus faster? Right?
-
Was he fasting social media? I don't think so. He
-
was fasting the very basic need human needs, do you know?
-
And there's the reason why I feel that if we
-
don't fast a tangible need, right, then it's very easy
-
to miss the point. Okay. So so that that's where
-
I'm going, all right, So, oh sorry, you'reing malfunction, no Ice,
-
no ice, It's okay, I'm synergy do you know that
-
when when I was young? Right, do you know the
-
the cartoon gem synergy change? So, okay, so today I
-
give my jam. Okay, those of you young one don't know,
-
you can go and look it up on YouTube anyway, huh,
-
don't have a okay, but anyway, anyway, so it's okay,
-
don't don't get distracted. Okay, this is a test to
-
see whether you're following me or not. So, so okay,
-
let's go to the next light now, bibically there when
-
you know, there are many many incidents when the fast
-
truly mattered, right, So if I ask you what would
-
cause you to really fast? Right, most of us would
-
be like, hey, when there's crisis in my lifela, So
-
maybe for some of you right now there is no crisis.
-
You're like, then why do I need to fast? Okay,
-
So I'm gonna show you some examples of why when
-
fasting truly met. So do you remember in the story
-
of Esther? Right right, Sorry, I'm just gonna give you
-
over you in a story in the Book of Esther,
-
you know that there was a plot to annihilate the
-
whole Jewish people, right, and so then Esther was raised
-
by mother kai and then she became queen, right, and
-
so it was that pivotal point where she was challenged
-
as the queen to say, Okay, I have to go
-
and do something for my people, right, and you'n't like
-
to quote the famous ones for such a time as this, right,
-
for such a time as this, you know, but we
-
don't know the weight of that, you know, because that
-
actually meant death for her. It is a death sentence
-
right for such a time as it sounds like so heroic,
-
but actually what awaited her was death. So and and
-
so before she went to do a heroic heck, she
-
needed the people to intercede together with her. So she
-
declared her fast, you know. And that time the fast
-
was three days, no food, no water. Okay, I personally
-
have fasted, but I think the hardest is to fast water, really,
-
really really, I you know, if I don't drink water
-
for one hour, I'll be like a song. You know.
-
Food still okay, but water is really hard. So they fasted,
-
and you know what happened after that. Hayman got hang on.
-
That's a tachliner hashtag. Human got hanged. But yeah, it
-
turns situations around, right, God moved supernaturally and what seemed
-
to be a day end for the Jewish people. Turn
-
around and you can see that God Ocayes straighted all
-
of this. Now, the question you might ask is if
-
they had not prayed and fast, would this have happened?
-
Would God still have saved it? I think God would
-
have through a different person, right, if not Esther? Right? Yeah,
-
but but do you see that there is a little
-
bit of an interplay right now between the key to
-
miracles happening, right, pray and fasting. Let me give you
-
another example. Let's go to the next one. Now, how
-
many of you know the story of Jonah. Yeah, yeah,
-
y'all know Jonah. Right. The thing that you remember is
-
the big fish. Big fish three days is also very important. Now,
-
Jonah was in the belly for three days, and then
-
after that he came out of course, And do you know,
-
you see this Jonah, you think he's a good guy.
-
Do you think he's a good guy? Actually, Noah, I
-
also don't think so. You might think that, Okay, he's
-
a prophet of God, you know, send by God, a prophet,
-
send to bring the good news of salvation to this
-
group of Ninavites, you know. But actually he's hot motive
-
not right one. He's like, why I want to tell them?
-
You know, that's why he ran away, Ma, that's why
-
he ran away, got eaten up, you know, was in
-
the belly for three days. And after they say, okay,
-
I cannot run away Anymore's many of us like that, Jonah,
-
we run away, We run away from God's calling because
-
we don't like the people. And there's a good reason
-
for that. But you see what we don't like about
-
certain people, God sees very differently. It is still his people, right,
-
no matter how bad they've turned. And so he was
-
giving the Ninavites a chance. And then there after what
-
happened was he went there and he quickly like, okay,
-
don't you don't repent, right, you will die. That's it,
-
nothing convincing, I'm just telling you. But you know, ah,
-
at that alarm, at that warning, what did the people do,
-
what did the king do? Straightway repented? You know, they
-
heard that God was going to judge them and bring
-
judgment upon the land. And so the king he declared
-
a tree day corporate fast again, and this time the
-
cows also cannot eat, the animals also cannot eat. Okay,
-
So you're saying, if I'm gonna I'm gonna faster out,
-
my dog was a better fast. Uh. And so they
-
declared a tree day corporate fast. You know, they went
-
into mourning. They were insect cloth and ashes, and then
-
what happened, God relented got relented. Okay, So this fast
-
thing and prayer it seems to turn nations around. You know, guys,
-
it's turning nations around. It's not just you know, something
-
that I do at the individual level that doesn't affect anyone.
-
It really this coprofist. That's why we're doing church. We're
-
doing it corporately because we are one thing to see revival. Amen.
-
That's our team this year. There's there's a really we
-
need to come to this place where like this is
-
for the bigger picture, This is for our land, Malaysia.
-
Do you believe that sometimes we think so small or
-
that this is just for us as Actually okay, can
-
I tell you that Passer's heart has always been for
-
the nation and the nations? Right, It's not just for
-
our church. We were not about our church, about how
-
can we be a blessing to the nations? And that's
-
what I'm proud to be part of X all this
-
world because it's kingdom minded. Amen, it's not just for us. Okay,
-
let me give you another corporate example. Okay, So King
-
Jehosha first, all right, so you can read this latter
-
in second chronicles, where again the armies were coming around them,
-
actually they were going to be they were greatly outnumbered. Right.
-
Do you feel that sometimes that all your enemies are
-
crushing against you? The deadlines, your financial obligations, you know,
-
everything just crushing on you. And then Joshaphat said, okayla,
-
what do I do? Do I have the money, Do
-
I have the power, Do I have the warheads? Do
-
I have the drones? Don't have nothing like that? Okay?
-
What I have? I just pray and fast. That's all
-
he knew how to do, right, And of course he
-
declared the fast. And then after that, guess what you know?
-
Just how me saying the song God, you fought the
-
battle for me, right, you want it all for me?
-
And this is exactly where that came from. God thought
-
the enemies, and then they just clean the victory. How nice? Right?
-
How nice? Okay? So okay, let's move on. So this
-
is old Testament, Yeah, old Testament. Many examples of how
-
this prayer and fasting right really turned nations around. Let's
-
move on to a little bit more modern now. Okay,
-
so let's move on to the New Testament. Okay, you
-
know Jesus himself, right, and we we claim to be
-
a follow of Jesus. I think we need to learn
-
and actually follow what he does. La. Okay, I'm not
-
saying you have to do forty days praying first. Okay, no, no,
-
I'm not saying that. But do you know that when
-
he was teaching his disciples in Matthew, for he says,
-
you know, when you fast, close your door and all that.
-
He didn't say if you fast, you know, He's like,
-
when you faster, meaning you will do it rah right.
-
And again the context of fasting is fasting food, friends, Okay,
-
fasting food, really fasting food. And then for him, Jesus
-
personally was for do you know that this was before
-
he started his ministry. Many of us start on missing.
-
We jump first, right, We're just going to do first.
-
Then after that we run out of battery, we get
-
burned out, and we wonder actually wire because there was
-
not that preparation, there was an alignment. Do you know
-
that Jesus had to pray and fast to get ready
-
to do the ultimate work. And the ultimo work was
-
not the healing, the automotive work wasn't raising the date.
-
That was not the ultimate. What was the ultimate work
-
to die in the cross. So he had to prepare
-
at age thirty when he started his ministry, he prit
-
and fasted to prepare him for what he was going
-
to do at thirty three years old, to go to
-
the cross. Do you see did you see that this
-
is not a one time thing, that this has a
-
long term implication and repercussion. All right, Now let's go
-
to a little bit more modern times. All right, so
-
you say, yo, but this is not all in the Bible,
-
lar right, what about modern day? Okay, I give you
-
one modern day. This is considered quite modern. Aw maybe
-
only one hundred years ago. Some of you feel like, huh,
-
but by both two thousand years ago? All so I
-
bring it up earlier, like, okay, in the nineteen hundreds,
-
have you heard of this Welsh Revival? Some of you, yes,
-
you know. Now what happened was there was this guy.
-
His name was Evan Roberts. Evan Roberts was a twenty
-
six year old coal minor. How many of you are
-
twenty six years old? Okay, don't have about that kind
-
of age, ranger, and you work as a hard labor.
-
But do you know that when he knew Jesus, he
-
began to have a hunger for his nation. Do you
-
know that he actually prayed for thirteen years every day
-
Evan Roberts prayed for his nation to know Jesus. Thirteen
-
years every day he prayed for revival. Now, at the
-
end of the thirteen years and he started. Do you
-
know that They say that he was not an eloquent speaker,
-
this guy, Evan Roberts, but probably not highly educated as well.
-
But people began to flock to the service because the
-
presence of God. And this is what revival is. Yeah,
-
God's presence, tangible present. And do you know that what
-
happened was from that moment when he was doing one
-
of the service, right, someone prophesied over him and say, oh,
-
ginny one hundred thousand, what's the meaning of this? Do
-
you know that in nine months time one hundred thousand
-
new souls added to the church. One hundred thousand new souls. Guys, Oh,
-
it's crazy. It seems impossible to us, but it is God.
-
Can you see this? But God working through the prayer
-
of this very faithful one man. You know, do you
-
know that it didn't happen like Sally Boom? He just
-
did it? Did you hear the story the thirteen years
-
of sewing in prayer having a hunger for his land,
-
his nation? And can I tell you that this didn't
-
just you know, sometimes we're like, whoa, one hundred thousand
-
new souls praise the Lord? Right, WHOA, He's mentioned in heaven.
-
It's gonna be so big man, right talking about rewards
-
in heaven. Okay, but that's besides the Poyna. But do
-
you know what happened was it was because of this
-
right that in the years to come, because of this revival,
-
it spread throughout the whole of UK and one million
-
people came to know the Lord. And this was also
-
the part that actually sparked the Azusa revival later on
-
in California, even he went to America. What was even
-
more amazing was now with this happening, right, people touched
-
by God. What happened was pubs begin to close down
-
because people stopped drinking. No, I'm serious, crime, race dropped
-
dramatically until it was reported that reported don't know real
-
orna that the police people what they did, they got
-
nothing to do. They form a choir. That's what the
-
police crowd did. Okay, they're like, no crime, not everybody
-
revive and transform good people already, right, drug addicts all
-
off the streets and then police. Okay, let us form
-
a choir sing for the Lord. Amazing or not? This
-
is the kind of transformation do you want to see
-
from Malayia? Not friends, I do? You know? It's things
-
that you hear of. It inspires us, but it also
-
makes you think that do I really want this? Do
-
I want this for my land, my nation? Or are
-
we so absorbed in our own lives that we have
-
no space for this right to see the move of God.
-
All right now, I want to give you another more
-
recent example of this is on a personal level. Okay,
-
how many of you know this guy named Kevin James.
-
Do you know this guy named Kevin James? Like? Who's that? Okay? Yeah, yeah,
-
so who do you know who this is? He's an actor?
-
Is comedian? Yeah yeah, yeah, that Kevin James. That Kevin James. Okay,
-
let's show the next picture. So so you know, ah,
-
this guy, this guy, you're not this guy, Ah, Kevin,
-
his name is Kevin James. I just got to know him, okay, No, no, no, no,
-
I think like I just attached the name to face,
-
like you know, I'm very bad with names, you know,
-
and actors and all that. So anyway, Kevin James. Now
-
it was interesting because I was talking to the elther
-
pane hole about brand fasting and he said, so, there's
-
this story about Kevin James and he's a Catholic, Catholic
-
and he actually underwent so there was an amazing story.
-
So the articles were writing about him, right, So he
-
wanted to go on a fast like all good Catholics do, right,
-
So he said, okay, I will go on a fast.
-
And his purpose for fasting was too fast for his daughter,
-
who was unwell, sick daughter. Right, So this aren't you know,
-
father's I'm speaking to your mom's parents. This an really
-
guts you or not. If your child is sick, you
-
do anything right, You do anything, You go to the
-
best doctors, you spend no matter how much money, to
-
seek treatment. And he knew that God can hit well
-
at least he turned to godla so so he you know,
-
he's a big set guy, right, big set guy, And
-
so he says, I'm gonna do a full fast. Full fast,
-
right means you don't eat anything but just drink water. Okay,
-
that's what full fasts means. Okay, a fool fast. So
-
he went on it for seven days. Some of you like, huh,
-
seven days no food? So he wanted to give out ready,
-
He's like, I cannot do this anymore. Seven days is
-
all that I can do. His body was just like
-
I cannot write. And what he heard then was his
-
daughter told him that, thank you so much for fasting
-
for me. I'm getting better. Guess what. Kevin James fasted
-
forty one days. What made him continue day eight onwards
-
was because he knew that whatever he's doing right now, interceding, praying,
-
fasting for his daughter is working right. And so my
-
question is this, what would compel you to want to fast?
-
Is it just because you know, yeah, Jesus said so.
-
Is it because yeah, maybe out of obedience it's so
-
so good? Ah, But what is it really that you
-
are hungry for? Do you see that Kevin James could
-
turn his hunger for something out of himself it was
-
not about him anymore. It was interceding for someone else.
-
Now let's go to the next one. And I want
-
to say, you know, he said this in the interview
-
that they had with him. He says, so I am
-
locked in here. You're loved, right. I know this is
-
a very gen alpha language. Oh is it better? Do
-
you know what locked in is? Or your old parents
-
are Let me educate you. I also have to learn
-
from my daughter, and so now I'm hearing from my girls. Right,
-
It's like, oh, I really need to lock in, man,
-
because my exams next week. Right, And and locking in
-
basically just means I just need to focus and locked in.
-
Like you know, when you're locked in something, you're not
-
distracted by other things. You're just kind of focus, really
-
really looking, you know, just just one thing to just
-
do that thing, study locked in. And for Kevin James,
-
he says, I'm locked in, right. How many of us
-
are locked into God? Or do we want to be
-
locked in to him? Okay, let's go to the next one. Yeah,
-
what are you locked in for? So? I find that
-
the motivation for our own prayer and fast is very
-
important because it's the key difference between just letting the
-
day pass you? Right? Ah, yeah, I'm just fasting a meal.
-
No difference but no impact, right right? How many of
-
you have gone through that before? I have that you
-
just do it as part of routine. It's just like
-
you know, it's church, say is prayend? Okay, I just
-
for ask a meal, I just fad something. I just
-
fask coffee and like, okay, it passes by, right? But
-
do you know that? I think that on a surface
-
level it looks okay, but I think we're missing out. Friends,
-
do you know we're missing out? We're missing out on
-
what God wants to do in us, for us through us.
-
I want to say that again, we are going to
-
miss out if we let this season passes by. There's
-
a specially anointing. Can I tell you that there's a
-
special covering and anointing in this season? When I've experienced
-
this before, Because on a normal day you ask me first,
-
I'm like, oh, it's so difficult. But when you come
-
to it with a different motive, different intention, there's a
-
covering and you go like, eh, I feel weak, but
-
I'm strong. Do you know what I'm saying? It's very different.
-
It's very spiritual. Unlocking, you know. And this comes from
-
this place of being hungry, physically hungry Lord for the
-
Lord man. So so yeah, I think let so. So
-
my encouragement to you, Exampung, don't miss out, don't miss
-
out on what God wants to do in you, for
-
you and through you. There is this big, bigger dimension
-
you know that that that it's just waiting to be unlocked.
-
God wants to unlock it for us a man, all right,
-
So so let's go in and and I like this
-
quote that Kevin James gave. He said at the end
-
of it, he said, this a love carries us further
-
than comfort can. It's comfortable to continue with your routine lot,
-
just every day, you know, go go on with your life.
-
That's comfort. And you know, one of the greatest things
-
against the modern church is comfort. So what the enemy
-
cleverly does is it makes you so comfortable. He Hello,
-
you're sitting on a nice chair, falling asleep in a
-
nice econ, right, and it's comfortable of a connos that
-
we're hot or bitter. Have you ever been to a
-
rally in Indonesia where the people come out in you know,
-
in the field with some lights, you know, and Persson.
-
Matt shed this, okay, he shared you when he was
-
doing the rally. There he was standing there and as
-
we were talking, all the flies were going to his mouth.
-
The insects were there because why they were attracted to
-
that one light. And there was the one light that
-
that lighted the whole rally. And people just came hundreds
-
sitting on the floor the dirt, waiting to hear the
-
word of God. That is what real hunger is. No,
-
we are so comfortable here, well, I mischange yours, so
-
no problem. Why nobody misses me? No impact? Come on, right,
-
let us be the disciples that say, no, I am
-
gonna make every moment count right, I'm gonna be locked in,
-
not every time you come and counter. You got your
-
locked in. You come to Sunday worship, you're locked in.
-
You come for your homes, you're locked in. You come
-
for your prayer service, you're locked in. Amen. And that
-
that's the kind of disciples that we wont you know,
-
locked into God so powerfully and so powerfully used for
-
him and by him. Amen. Amen. So okay, so just
-
think about it, ruh. Let's not chase comfort, friends, Let's
-
not chase comfort. And let's say maybe let you think
-
about it, Rah, what chasing comfort means to you? Let's
-
chase after God? And do you know what I can
-
tell you? Chasing after God is not comfortable. Yeah, it's
-
not comfortable. It's gonna bring you out of your comfort zone,
-
do crazy radical things for God. But that's where life is, Amen,
-
that's a real life is all right? Okay, so let's
-
move on. Let's move on. Okay, Now what prayer and
-
fasting do to Usa? I'm just gonna go this on
-
four very tangible levels that you can see this for
-
domains now physically, right, if you're faster before, how many
-
of your fast food before? Okay? Now, do you know
-
that God designed our body here in such a way
-
right that we need to rest from eating what Joe
-
lives like in this belief? What do you know that
-
so so in the olden days, right, they don't eat
-
like we do, and Malaysians worse, We eat twenty four
-
to seven one meal. We just eat continuously, right, no,
-
non stop. And the body that you know the reason
-
why there's so much sickness these days is because there
-
is a constant feeding in our gut that it doesn't
-
have time to rest. And what that causes, you know,
-
is this whole intricate system that then causes inflammation. Do
-
you know that? Actually I realized that I learned this
-
in recent years, that most of our sickness, right, it's
-
not like cancel or whatever, it's actually the root cause
-
is inflammation. Everything is being inflamed insight. There's just too
-
much fuel, too much guess, too much of everything. Malaysians,
-
I know we love our food, right, I really believe
-
if Jesus come to Malaysia, your love to eat with us.
-
And I have to say this of all the countries
-
that you go and travel now, and I have this
-
so many times. People always say they come back to
-
Malaysia and say Malaysia is the best food. You know, No,
-
I'm serious. In terms of bang Chang, I cannot say
-
my canon tot koya. So it's cheap, it's affordable. Malayian
-
food is affordable. It's amazingly good. Do you know that? Again?
-
I have to talk to you. I have to tell
-
you about Pasta met because he's my kieling like he
-
is in front of me. So we talk about all
-
these things right in office, and he's like, you know,
-
I've been to Japan. I've been to Korea. I've been
-
to many places, you know, and I still find out
-
that the quality of foods here is on par you know,
-
Japanese food. Why you need to go? In fact, you
-
say this time that he's going to Japan, r He's
-
gonna eat Italian and French food. I'm like, okay, fine,
-
you know you can go to different places. High Land
-
they have good coffee, but actually Malaysia got better coffee.
-
You know why it goes so far? When? When? When
-
Malaysia has it? Okay? Why did I come here? Anyways?
-
So I want to say, ah, so I thought about
-
all this food? Right, how to rest? Like Joe like say,
-
how to rest? Because there's so much goodness, so much goodness? No, no, okay,
-
but scientific scientifically right, even when you okay, let's say
-
you don't eat, you technically we all fast. When do
-
you fast when you sleep? Because when you're not eating, ma,
-
so even between from twelve to eighteen hours onwards. Right,
-
what it does is it empties your body out of
-
glycogen nor more glucose. Right, and then it kicks off
-
into a kitosis mode. And some of you know what
-
kittosis is right, a kito diet whatever, burning fat. Now
-
what's even more interesting is I think after you do
-
that twenty four hours fast, right, it unlocks this process
-
called autophaggy. I think I'm pronouncing it wrong. A U
-
T O p H A G y. I don't know,
-
okay about their about de la? Now what that does?
-
You think about it? Now? Is it kicks off this
-
regenerate it's it generates yourself at the molecular level. So
-
what it does is it goes goes to your body,
-
go nor more food? Really right, twenty four hours guess
-
what It starts looking around damaged cells and eats it up.
-
It burns it up as energy. So it's a cleansing
-
your body is starting. Is auto cleansing mod The body
-
is amazing. God created it right, and it's created with
-
a self cleansing mechanism we have we sometimes we know
-
it in our washing machiner, but we never use that
-
moon right, so our body also we never use that mood.
-
And so there is a wisdom and God declared, you know,
-
to to let the people fast because he knows that
-
actually the body need to rest, you know, to auto cleanse,
-
to regenerate new cells, and that's how you get healthier.
-
There have been different reports where people, you know, they
-
have cancer and all that they just went on fasting.
-
And guess what. The cancer cells also shrink because there's
-
nothing to feed it. Food feeds it. Glue called sugar
-
feeds cancer cells. Right, So you think about it. This
-
is for health purposes, you know. Yes, God wants you
-
to be healthy. Friends. Yeah, God wants our bodies to
-
be healthy. God is holystic. He's not just thinking about
-
you spiritually. He's thinking about you physically as well. And
-
that's the reason why we fast. Okay, so's to rest
-
and repair. Next, next, go to the next light. Now, emotionally,
-
what happens to you when we are deprived of food, Joe?
-
What happened? Angry? Angry? Doesn't it reveal? Doesn't it reveal?
-
It reveals what's going on? Right? Do you know the
-
thing is right? Psychologists you know, have made this known
-
that we eat because of emotional reasons. It's either we
-
you know, you heard the term eating emotionally right. We
-
use food as a dependent when we are hungry, when
-
we are bored, when we are anxious, you know, we
-
just eat, We just touff ourselves because we don't want
-
to deal with what's inside. And so fast thing gives
-
us this space where all these things come all right, angry, angry,
-
and then we have to confront we have to deal
-
with it, and hey, what's wrong with mere? What you know?
-
Am I a real Christian? It reveals what's going on
-
inside and when you see the thing is the only
-
way we can restore it to balance is when we
-
acknowledge it. And so fast it gives us that space
-
now to say, man, this is something that I really
-
need to pray about. Man, if you think you've got
-
nothing to pray about her for your brands, Fastinger, maybe
-
this is it. No, God, I think there's something that
-
needs to be cleansed out of my system. Why am
-
I so impatient? Why am I so easily angered? Right?
-
It's me God, this one needs Cleansinger. Amen, let's move on.
-
So emotionally it does something to us mentally, our friends mentally.
-
Now do you know how much time on average we
-
spend on preparing food, buying food, eating food, cleaning after food,
-
and then going on shopping to look for more food.
-
How many hours do you think on average? Oh, Leona,
-
you are next level five hours, then what do you
-
do buy Cleod? So for the average household in Leona's
-
household is five hours. What about your because you don't
-
have to cook off the pick up the you know,
-
look after tree kids, right, so maybe less time? What
-
do you think is average? Okay, average is about two
-
hours fifteen minutes. So if you think about it, it's
-
it's quite logical. Like morning, most of you don't eat breakfast,
-
or you do, that's like fifteen minutes, or you make
-
your coffee. Then maybe lunch and dinner is the longer one,
-
right eating sitting there also one hour? Ready, you think
-
about it, this is not even preparing food and all.
-
It actually more than two hours. It's actually what exactly
-
the research is not right? No, this is for people
-
who eat outside all the time. Ah, they weren't true
-
for Selena because you know she Yeah, maybe you want
-
to next time you just go to Leona's house to correct, correct, correct,
-
So so you think about it, right, do you know
-
that when when I fasted full fast with my husband
-
last year, dinner, everything slows down the clock tick th
-
th there we realize it. Actually I got so much time,
-
you know, just because we're not eating no, seriously, there's
-
so much time. You're like, what do we do? What
-
do we do? So you know that just by even
-
abstaining from one meal, it gives you time at least
-
forty minutes to do something else. Right, we were just
-
not occupied, man, Right, We're not occupied with thinking about food,
-
feeding the body anymore, and feeding, feeding, feeding, so it
-
actually releases us to spend to rebuild other things that
-
we need to do in our lives. Hello friends, we
-
very fun life, feed our body, we food. We are
-
very good at feeding our minds with entertainment. Hello friends,
-
social media, Netflix. Right, we were feeding. We're constantly feeding
-
because it's a way of numbing ourselves, I think, to
-
face reality, real reality, you know, and so we rush through.
-
Or life is so busy, Life is so busy. I'm
-
so tired.
-
That da da da da, and that, my friends, is
-
the enemy strategy to just get you so frazzled and
-
busy until you don't even know who you are anymore,
-
and until you don't even know who your God is so.
-
Clever, Right, you have to applaud the enemy for the strategy.
-
He's very clever, very clever. We all of us are
-
caught into it easily easily. You you know, your phones
-
are quite helpful in a sense. You can just check
-
hamping hours you spend on your phone screen time? Okay,
-
can you please stant on that function just to help
-
you like he Actually I spend a lot of time
-
readier okay. Now finally, finally, spiritually, of course, it's to reconnect.
-
When you really come into this place of fasting and prayer, right,
-
it just does something to you. Can I tell you,
-
just does something to you and you can really then
-
reconnect with the Lord and to just re anchor yourself
-
unto him. Okay, So prayer, prayer alone is good, but
-
coupled with fasting, that's where power is. Do you know
-
that when Jesus was talking to his disciples, right, and
-
then they came to you and say, hey, Jesus, you
-
know we went in your authority. You know you gave us,
-
you know, the power to cast out demons. But this one,
-
why cannot Jesus say some of these are can only
-
be cast out by prayer and fasting. That means that
-
it is deeper. You want to go for the bigger fisher,
-
the bigger things in life are. It has to be
-
coupled with fasting. You know you I had this many
-
times before. They're not past the chow yong Gi, the
-
largest church in the whole world. I think they have
-
one million or more at one point in South Korea.
-
What is you know? They ask him fast, Joe YONGI,
-
what is your secret to church growth? Pray, pray, pray, fast,
-
fast fast. That's it. Pray, pray, pray, fast, fast fast,
-
that's it. Man. Prayer and fasting the strategy to church growth. Hey,
-
not your social media no, not how great our Instagram is,
-
not how whatever you do. Pray and fasting not dependent
-
on you know, sound system likes, which locations strateded you know,
-
nothing like that. Bran and fast, because then that allows
-
you to hear from God. You see. The thing is right.
-
I've been talking about how we've been so distracted that
-
we can't hear God's voice, and so prayan fasting gives
-
us this moment where we enter into this space where,
-
like God, I'm locked in so I can hear from you.
-
And Jesus says, you know, Peter and James, the fishermen,
-
they were in the boat, right, and they were fishing.
-
Oh my toiling tourning. Sometimes we feel like that toy.
-
We try and try and do so many strategies, caught nothing,
-
and Jesus just say, just let down your nets here,
-
and they caught so much fish that the boats begin
-
to break, their nets begin to break. I think that's
-
what we want, only when we are able to hear
-
from Him, And that's what brand fasting does for us. Amen.
-
All right, so let's go on. I'm hungry enough for revival?
-
Are you? We have to ask ourselves this, are you
-
hungry enough for revival? Maybe even revival in your own life? First,
-
let's not even talk about revival of nation. But if
-
you have our greater that's God's anointing and calling her.
-
But do you even have a revival for yourself? A
-
hunger for revival for your own life? Hey? God, you
-
know I'm going to challenge myself. You know I I
-
want to be able to read the word of God,
-
understand it, apply teach others. How about that that's revival man.
-
I want to be able to have that bonus to
-
invite my friends, you know, to have a conversation about God.
-
It is revival. Friends. Do you do you do you
-
desire that? Not alive? That is just walking with God?
-
Constantly hearing him, obeying him, and then you see things
-
happen your whoa, It's like walking through the red seamen
-
and it's parting right before you like whoh, because God
-
is with me. That's what revival is. Friends, We want
-
to see that. Yeah, starting with us ourselves first. Okay,
-
so let's move on. Let's move on now. So we
-
talked about fasting, so in in you know that if
-
you're part of the ut, and I'm sure Selena the
-
super efficient one, has sent you all the links that
-
you can download the booklet to prayer and fasting. Today
-
we are reading Josiah too, which is amazing. You know,
-
just just catch up if you have not. But it
-
also shows you the ways too faster. You can fast
-
one meal, abstain from one meal. You can do partial
-
sun up to sundown, meaning you don't eat from I
-
don't know, nine to nine, seven to seven whatever. There
-
is a Daniel fast, meaning you just eat small portions
-
of vegetables and fruits throughout the twenty one days. Right.
-
For some of my canny wall friends, you will really
-
feel it. But you know, Daniel came out at the right.
-
Don't get fatter, no, no, no, healthier, healthier, healthier is
-
the word, not fatter. And then also there's the total fast, right,
-
total fast meaning just water, no food. Okay, how many days? Really?
-
As the Lord leads you? Can I say that as
-
the Lord leads you? Okay? All right, okay, So that's
-
it now, just to help us to have some handle
-
some mindsets as we enter pranfasting. Firstly, remember that the
-
goal is God himself. Hello. The ultimate goal is not
-
that so that I can get the promotions so that
-
this one can heal. Yes, they're all part of your
-
prayer list. God knows. Hello. You think God don't know.
-
He's like, oh, surprising you going through this challenge. I
-
didn't know you didn't tell me. Hello. No, God knows,
-
he knows. So the goal is to come into communion
-
with him. Amen. Now let's declare the word of God together.
-
So let's read these Psalms twenty seven, verse four. Let's
-
go one thing I have desired of the Lord, that
-
will I seek that I may dwell in the house
-
of the Lord all the days of my life, to
-
behold the beauty of the Lord and to inquire in
-
his temple. Amen. So what is that one thing? What
-
is that one thing. It's God himself. Right, So when
-
you come into this prayer first, it's like God, I
-
just want you. I just want you. If there's anything,
-
nothing else, it's just you because when I have you,
-
I have everything. Hey, friends, lodging or not, because he
-
owns everything. Well, so when you go after everything, when
-
you should just go for the one. Just go after God.
-
He will give you peace, he will give you hope,
-
he'll give you direction. But you go to Hymp first. Amen,
-
that's the most important thing. Okay, let's go on prayer
-
as surrender. This is when you enter into this timer.
-
When you go after God. Right, you have to give
-
up yourself. You know, it's not saying God, I'm coming
-
after you, but do it my way. Yeah, do it
-
this way because I think that's the best way. Then
-
you become Godlah. God is not God. Okay, so be
-
very careful that we don't come into this place and
-
just say God. You know you have to do it this,
-
You have to do it this way. No, it say God,
-
what is your way? What is your way? So let's
-
read from Luke twenty two, verse forty two. This is
-
Jesus himself as he prayed to the Father just before
-
he went to the cross. Are you ready? Okay, let's
-
read this Father, If it is your will, take this
-
cup away from me, nevertheless, not my will, but yours
-
be done. Amen. Are you do you dare to pray
-
this prayer? Do you dare to pray this to say God,
-
not my will, but yours be done? Okay? So think
-
about that, all right? So the third one, let's go now.
-
Can I tell you friends that when you go into
-
this season that you are also fighting a battle. It's
-
a real battle. You might not see it, it's very real. Okay,
-
So you're basically when you're entering into this time. Hello,
-
I cannot call you soldiers. I can because that's what
-
the Bible calls us, soldiers of God, because we are
-
fighting a spiritual battle. All right. So let's read from Ephesients,
-
chapter six, verse twelve. For we do not wrestle against
-
flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the
-
rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual holds
-
or wickedness in the heavenly places. Yes, and that's why
-
we fast, you know, because we are saying, flesh, keep quiet,
-
I need to win this spiritual battle. And do you
-
know the flesh and the spirit is different realms. So
-
we are saying, flesh, you cannot win this. You can't.
-
I want to read to you just now we will
-
saying the song from Romans aid right, nothing can separate
-
from the love of God. Let's go to let's got
-
earlier a little bit. Romans chapter eight. I don't have
-
this on the slide, but if you can turn with me,
-
Romans chapter eight. I just want to give the word
-
of God to you. Verse one. Romans eight. Verse one,
-
he says, now there is therefore now no condemnation to
-
those who are in Christ Jesus, Amen, who do not
-
what according to the flesh, but according to the spirit,
-
for the law of the Spirit of life. For the
-
law of the Spirit of life. In Christ, Jesus has
-
made me free from the law of sin and death. Amen, hallelujah.
-
You're free, guys. You're free for what the law could
-
not do, in that it was weak. Through the flesh.
-
God did by sending his own son in the likeness
-
of sinful flesh on account of sin. He condemns sin
-
and its flesh. Do you know that our flesh is
-
very sinful? Verse all that the righteous requirement of the
-
law might be full feel in us who do not
-
walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit
-
Verse five. For those who live according to the flesh
-
that set their minds on the things of the flesh,
-
But those who live according to the spirit the things
-
of the spirit. For to be cornerly minded is death,
-
but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Amen.
-
Do you see that? So we are what thing our
-
flesh to rest as we pass in the lot, and
-
we're saying when something rests, something comes alive. You see
-
that there's a battle between the flesh and the spirit.
-
You know, So if you're saying this time around, spirit,
-
you're going to written over my flesh, or when hunger
-
strikes you, you're like, no, it's okay, it's just hunger pangs.
-
It will pass. But what the spirit wants to do
-
in us is life and peace. Amen. Amen. All right,
-
let's move on to my last few final slides. Fasting
-
for a humility. Do you know that when you're fasting,
-
the only posture that is right before the Lord is
-
one of humility and full dependency. Do you agree? It's
-
very hard to fast because actually when you're fasting, You're
-
saying God, I'm doing this for you. Right, So there's
-
this posture. Whe're like, God, I need you just now right,
-
ieng I need God, I need God. And Joe to
-
top says is yet even now they class a lot.
-
Return to me with all your heart, with fasting, eh, hello,
-
with weeping oof. There's a lot of surgery that needs
-
to happen in our hearts and with mourning. Return to
-
the Lord. Friends, Can I encourage all of us to
-
return to the Lord in a very deep way, very personal,
-
very significant way. Amen, Let's move on. Let's move fasting
-
for breakthrough, justice and compassion. Now, like I said, uh,
-
the evidence that you have been with God is not
-
that you are suddenly super spiritual, you are suddenly super good.
-
That's not everything. That's one sign. But what this Isaiah
-
fifty eight tells us. Okay, so let's read this together.
-
Is this not the fast that I have chosen to
-
lose the bonds of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens,
-
to let the oppress go free, and that you break
-
every yoke? Is it not to share your break with
-
the hungry, and that you bring to your house the
-
poor who are cast out? When you see the naked
-
that you cover him and not hide yourself from your
-
own flesh. Do you know that when we are truly
-
the kind of fast that pleases God, right is the
-
fast that causes us to act for others. It's not
-
about you anymore, friends, It's not about It's never been
-
about you. But we made it all about us. It's
-
never been about us. It's always God working in us
-
so that He can work through us. Right, would you
-
have greater compassion for others? Will you look at the
-
poor in you know, in your season fast thing? Are
-
you going to remember the poor? Are you going to
-
remember the offense? Are you going to remember those who
-
are cast out? Some of us don't even come to
-
that dimension we come out to any one days you're like, oh, yeah,
-
I had a great fast. Did you do something? Did
-
you share your break with the hungry? Did you bring
-
to your house invite those who are poor and feed them,
-
give them a good meal? Think about how do we
-
express this? This is a true fast that God desires
-
and pleases him. Okay, final one, final heart fasting for
-
sharpening or calling and ministry. And this is so important
-
you know, as disciples of Jesus Christ. Right, do you
-
know that there is a call and ministry for all
-
of you? Yes? Do you believe that as a disciple
-
of Jesus Christ, each of you have a unique and
-
personal mandate, a calling, and a ministry. Do you believe
-
that you have to? Because otherwise, then don't call yourself
-
a disciple of Jesus Christ. No. Really, if you're saying
-
I come to church so that I can fit myself, no,
-
like CPC saying, okay, so don't come to this church
-
and feed yourself. She said, come to this church and
-
help me feed others. Hey, hello, true? Not come and
-
help help Jesus says, if you love me, he told Peter,
-
feed my sheep, feed my lamb, take care of my sheep,
-
take care of my lamb. If you love God. And
-
so we are saying we love God. Right, let's not
-
just God. Do you love me? Yes? He does, Lah,
-
I tell you he does. But my question to you
-
is do you love God? And if you love God,
-
then we need to help fulfill the great commission, make disciples,
-
feed others, meet their needs. Amen. Okay, I'm gonna end
-
with this one quote from John Wesley, and I thought
-
it was very beautiful as we remind ourselves of what
-
the bigger picture is is that. Okay, John Wesley says this,
-
give me one hundred preachers who fear nothing but sin,
-
desire nothing but God. And I cannot whether they be
-
clergymen or laymen meaning pastors, and all that full time
-
or non full time, they alone will shake the gates
-
of hell and set up the Kingdom of Heaven upon earth. Amen.
-
How about that? Is there fifty people in Exampum well
-
fear nothing but sin. There's nothing that you fear in
-
your life except sin, you know, and you desire nothing
-
in your life except God, whoa powerful man. And that
-
if this becomes our live goal, that we fear sin,
-
that we do not want to sin because it hurts God,
-
and we desire nothing but God. I tell you your life,
-
my life is going to be transformed. Not only that
-
Unfun will be transformed, not only that Malaysia will be transformed. Amen.
