You're listening to a message to go from acts church. We hope this message
-
will light up your day. I embarked on a series called Calling, and
-
this is very important. I think we need to be refreshed with this message
-
maybe once a year, that life really, at the end of the day
-
is measured by our calling, meaning to say that when you appear before God
-
at the end of it all, God is going to ask us about what
-
we did without calling. We are called to be Christians, Praise the Lord.
-
That's why we're here, called to be children of God. What and
-
how have you lived that? Some of us are married, We're called to
-
be husbands wives? How have we lived that? Some of us have children,
-
We're called to be dead and moms. How have we become dead and
-
moms to our children? So ours are blessed? To be bosses? How
-
good have we been bosses? To our staff and to the people that God
-
has brought into our care? Some of us have called to be leaders?
-
How well have we led? Okay, I'm gonna give you now the five
-
needs of calling. Okay, let me turn you to efficients for one to
-
three, for us Efficians for one to three. Let me read the word
-
of God, I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord beseech you to walk
-
worthy of the calling with which you were called, with all loneliness and gentleness,
-
with long suffering, bearing with one another in love, endeavoring to keep
-
the unity of the spirit in the bond of peace. I love this scripture
-
is very, very strong. You don't usually see anyone using those words prisoner
-
of the Lord. What do you think? A prisoner is one who doesn't
-
really have his will. His will sort of has to be put aside.
-
He's in chains, he's definitely behind bars. His freedom is limited. But
-
even though it's a lot of negative gives, Paul proudly called himself a prisoner
-
of the Lord. And I want you to understand that if you understand the
-
power of calling, you will understand that calling actually is supposed to imprison us
-
to the will of God. And I know some of you don't like that,
-
you don't like to be a prisoner, But it's very very important to
-
understand the power of being a prisoner of Christ and to be in chains to
-
the Lord and his will, so that we don't find ourselves doing what we
-
want to do and what we will to do for our own selfish ambition.
-
But they we are so tied in and tied up with God that we do
-
his will. So I want to bring you through five needs for calling to
-
thrive. Five needs that you must have that you must consider for calling to
-
thrive in your life. Number One, calling needs concentration. Calling needs concentration.
-
You know, we are very destructed people. There was an old writer
-
who wrote something and I saw it, and it's a quote, and I
-
think he made so much sense. He said, the goal of the devil
-
is to create so much noise on the earth that you will find it hard
-
to hear the voice of God. Don't you love that? It's so true.
-
He doesn't even have to get you to not believe God. Say that
-
Jesus didn't come to die on the cross. He doesn't because you know a
-
lot of these things that the devil does or says, we won't believe it
-
anyway. But it's not about those big ticket things. Jesus is not Lord.
-
He didn't die on the cross. Those are big tickets. He just
-
needs to create so much noise, so much noise, so much you go
-
into the news, so much noise. Haven't finished Russian and Ukraine. Now,
-
God Israel and Hamas and you know that it would end so the notice,
-
So the devil send his demons. Demons, don't need to do anything
-
else. Don't don't even spoil that. The theology because some of these Christians
-
are so strong in the theology, so strong in the doctrine, they would
-
definitely will rebuke you when you say Jesus Christ is not long, they will
-
rebuke you. And you don't want to be rebuke in Jesus name because you
-
would definitely be rebuked and you're definitely be cast out. No, just go
-
around, take some pots and pants, planned blank blad. You just go
-
around those Christians and you just oh, oh new iPhone. Sorry, I
-
didn't want to go into that black black line. And you know iPhones every
-
year changement and if you are the time that race after chase after the kind
-
of things are flag black line. You know what else? Oh, you
-
know, elections, new government, four prime ministers in five years, like
-
black right, COVID ninety right, like Louday Louday. Because the Christians are
-
not distracted yet distract them. You know, sell, you know the four
-
letter word sell, sell one sale after the other. Yeah, after you
-
got sale fifty percent. There you got best buys right, and then you
-
know you got children? Okay, then one child, client, two children,
-
three gods on the whole house is now tops TV. Right now you
-
are games, you know new games PS right now? Five six coming.
-
No, I'm telling you I can I prophesy? Can I prophesy? Can
-
I prophesy? PS? Six? And the Christians just create enough noise so
-
they can't hear God's voice. Distraction, so we miss out calling. When
-
I went to the shop opposite my house, so many biscuits, especially the
-
one with the cream on top, the sugar, so many colors. Why
-
can't they only make one color? Because of children like me who get distracted
-
so easily. We bite the sugar, throw away the biscuit. Yes,
-
su go's one side biscuit and another side. So is the noise. The
-
noise, noise, pollution has been there for a long time. And can
-
I tell you it's gonna get louder. It's going to get louder. Concentration.
-
We miss out calling because we're not focused. Next slide says focus as
-
simple as that. You gotta focus. You know I told you last week
-
right the man couldn't make up in the morning, and the mother came to
-
the room, son, get up, you got to miss church, and
-
the song was so frustrated. He said, give me one reason why I
-
need to go to church, and the mother said, you're the pastor.
-
I knew I'll get a laugh from the pastor. Yeah, we forget sometimes,
-
okay, is that the only reason you have? All? Right?
-
Proverbs Training nine eighteen. Oh, I don't know how much time I'm going
-
to spend on this, but this is so important now. I pray God
-
help me because I don't want to over well, you know, overspend my
-
time on this. But this is I'm so lately, especially, I'm so
-
convinced about this scripture. Where there is no revelation or vision, people cast
-
off restraint or people perish, But happy is he who keeps the law.
-
I tell you why, I'm passionate because I've been working with young people for
-
thirty three years and many I've seen, you know, go from zero to
-
hero by the grace of God. Many were quiet and didn't know where they
-
were going, maybe even lack of confidence, and then now are standing preaching.
-
You know, we've seen a lot of that. Of course, we
-
also have seen some failures. What he said, maybe one or two even
-
committed suicide or you know, it's life is just so crazy. And yet
-
we continue to love the young people because God loves them, continue to preach
-
the gospel reach them. You know, when I was younger, I was
-
as slim as Olivia. Yes, but because of ministry. All this is
-
love those day tatics and they won't they won't open their hearts to the first
-
day that I don't know why, why might it be the seventh day that
-
they don't need? Is it by reary pastor? And it's only took it
-
in the morning and we want to go back right, I think it's done
-
because he's not opening up now. It's like it's like the seventh one that
-
is the is the one that caused the person to be drunk. I got
-
to tell you something. I need to tell you something now. And it's
-
gone on for ten and night all the way to two in the morning,
-
and now only he starts. All right, So this is opasional, has
-
it? And so please hear my heart because some of you might get rubbed
-
the wrong way when I say this, I pray not, you know,
-
let me explain this to you. Also when I was in school. I
-
come from a school called Scholar am minodin Baki. A lot of people laugh
-
about that, you know, actually one of the top schools now, but
-
my time, it was a gangster school, so people laugh. And I
-
grew up without parents. My mom left the family when I was one.
-
My father was on drugs, so he was absent almost all my life.
-
And because he was on drugs, you know, people thought that Kenneth,
-
I think you're probably gonna go that whila. I didn't see grades or drugs.
-
But God's grace was so strong on my life. He gave me a
-
love of sports and made me at one time the top running in my school.
-
And because of the joy and filming I felt in winning the four hundred
-
meters, winning the four by four, winning the four by one uh and
-
became one of the top runners in my school, I I I wanted to
-
keep that that, you know, that for filming, that that fulfilling feeling,
-
and so with that, I decided not to smoke, even though at
-
six years old, I was lighting the matches for my father's ganja. And
-
you think to yourself, a six years old lighting up a ganja bottle for
-
my dad six to nine, about three four years. I did it almost
-
every day for him, and not to even suck it myself. It's a
-
sucking emotion, you know, out of a bottle. I'm not teaching you
-
how the drugs, but you know it's crazy. Sometimes I even had to
-
cut the papaya stemp for they use that, and then they put a foil
-
and the end. Again, I'm not teaching you, uh, and then
-
and then and then sometimes he's with me or I'm with him in the car
-
and he goes to the back lane and there's this short midget you know,
-
who comes and sells him, sells him the drugs. And people were calling
-
him say, how come you can take your son with you in the car.
-
You know. He says no, no, because if you have a
-
young kid in the car, the police one thing that you're doing something.
-
This is what my dad did crazily, you know. I mean I could
-
have been in trouble right. Yeah. By the way, the midget who
-
show my dad ganja for about ten years became a Christian. Hallelujah, praise
-
God because my dad when he became a Christian, when and reached out to
-
him and gave him real grass the grass of life. Hallelujah, Amen,
-
praise God. No, the time you smoke, you know, by the
-
time. And yeah, So I want to say this to you. When
-
you have vision, it causes you not only to know what to do,
-
but what not to do. And that's why the Bible says the people cast
-
off restrained without revelation, without vision. And I've been speaking to some parents
-
lately, even all the way in Osaka and different places. They tell me,
-
pastor, uh, how do you actually stop a child from jumping from
-
one so far to another? He's hyper, he's active. Uh, you
-
know, I don't believe in stopping my child at home. I want to
-
give liberty to my children to open the fridge, you know, to take
-
out I say, yeah, But the fact is that whatever they do in
-
your house, they also do in other people's house. I said, this
-
is a problem. And then what happens is that people begin to not like
-
your children and maybe not even invite them for parties because they keep jumping on
-
so fast, jumping into the pool when they're when they are not supposed to,
-
opening the fridge, and taking people's drink because they think that every house
-
is their house. So I will tell parents and leaders and whoever it is.
-
This is a scripture that's very powerful. If you have a vision for
-
your child, you must practice be straight a parent that does not practice restraint
-
in their child's life. And this way, I know I'm rubbing south you
-
in the wrong way because I don't know how you bring your children up.
-
But if you don't practice restrain, you're almost saying her, I have no
-
vision for my child. You with me. And it's only because I had
-
a vision to be the top runner in my school that I didn't smoke,
-
didn't drink, didn't do anything that would jeopardize that vision. And this is
-
what I'm talking about. When you have a calling in your life, you're
-
focused, you're concentrated, and so there's a reason why you say I will
-
do something and I will not do something. And when you say I will
-
not do something, it's because of vision. Because I see that my son
-
or my daughter when he or she goes to another person's house, they will
-
behave they will know what to do, they will know what's right. I
-
have a vision for my child, and because I have a vision, that's
-
why I want people say no. This modern day parenthood is to let the
-
child do anything they want. I want to tell you again, if you
-
let your child do anything they want, you have no vision for your child.
-
A parent and a leader that has vision will always exercise restraint. The
-
Bible happy is he who keeps the law. So it's very important. And
-
I noticed that even talking about vision, because some of us have vision,
-
very wordly vision, like, for example, I want my son to be
-
exactly at me. I want my son or my daughter to be a doctor
-
or lawyer, you know. And it could be just your selfish vision,
-
but it must be a revelation from God. So when God gives you a
-
revelation of this, this is how your children will be. This is how
-
your son will grow up to be. This is how who your daughter will
-
be. This is how the church will be. Now I'm going to church.
-
Now. This is how your family, your your group, your company
-
will be. And if your company doesn't have vision, you let your stuff
-
do anything they want. But when you, when your company and when your
-
family has a vision, you will always exercise restraint. And the beautiful thing
-
is when you say no to something, you know it's because you want to
-
achieve that vision. Everybody, Okay, this is very very important. I
-
had to sit down one with one of my leaders. Once upon a time,
-
his son was uncontrollable and people were like, already not inviting him to
-
parties because you know, and then he will. I don't know why my
-
son don't get invited. So I set him down one day. He's one
-
of my my key leaders in this church. And it's very hard to talk
-
to a PARANOI not to say, hey, you know you please get your
-
act together, but because I love him and I love his son, and
-
said, brother, can I just tell you? You know? You know?
-
He actually teared because he also knows that something needs to be done,
-
but has no will power to do it, no will power to do it.
-
So I said, brother, you are a church plant coordinator. You
-
are, you are a good leader, but I want you to begin to
-
think about this. And then he said, I don't know what to do.
-
Pass I said, this is. I give you a very simple question.
-
What you allow at home, you're gonna allow anywhere else. It always
-
starts at home. And he says, yeah, but I don't always discipline
-
him. I said, there are ways to discipline, it's not always came.
-
And so we talked and then he went on to have three children,
-
and it's quite amazing because all three children are really growing up well today because
-
he caught the fact that if he has a vision and wants a vision for
-
the children, he is to exercise restrain and let it begin at home.
-
Everybody, Okay, so if you have a calling in life, exercise restrain.
-
You know. The reason why I don't watch something late at night on
-
Saturday night is because I had to preach on Sunday morning, and a lot
-
of people tell me I had never mind, we will be We are used
-
to sleeping for three hours, right, But this is what I thought Passandra,
-
because Passandra once or twice she sapt very late and she had a message
-
to pre tomorrow, and I said, there, I want to let you
-
know that when God gives us the priority and sorry, the privilege to preach
-
for him, I want you to understand that when you're standing at the pulpit,
-
people are listening to you, their lives can be changed forever, and
-
their answers to their questions that they've been asking can be received. I say,
-
it's a huge responsibility to stand and hold a microphone. I want to
-
make sure I'm well prepared, are you also hear me. So any footballer,
-
even though I support Liverpool and a lot of you know it, if
-
they're playing even a big gamer and it's one o'clock in the morning on Sunday
-
morning, one o'clock, I will because I take this very seriously and I
-
want God to see from heaven and look down and go like I think Kenneth
-
is taking his calling very seriously, and guess what, He's gonna bless me.
-
And when he blesses me, you are blessed. So my wife said,
-
yeah, I think we've got to start to have restraint because we have
-
a vision and a vision of just one life in this room, touched by
-
the word of God. Because the preacher takes it seriously, exercise restraint.
-
If you have no vision, do what you want. But if you have
-
vision, then exercise restraint. I told you I was going to be tempted
-
to take this longer than I should, but I hope you're blessed. All
-
right, this is very very important. Do you therefore have a clear and
-
compelling vision. I put that dot dot dot because for your life, for
-
your health, for your children, for your church, for your cell group,
-
for your company, it must be clear and it must be compelling.
-
You know, this whole thing about trying to lose weight when you know some
-
of you might have vision. I want to lose weight before the end of
-
the year. Well guess what is two more months to the end of the
-
year. I hope you are successful. I've been trying O. So you
-
know it's very hard to lose weight in Malaysia. I'm telling you right now,
-
yes, sir, yeah, very hot. But if you have a
-
vision, then you go to ah. You know, excuse me. I
-
had a vision in January to lose seven kilograms and now I've gained seven.
-
What happened? You know? It's usually your vision may not be as clear
-
or as compelling for losing weight, because if it was really clear, convincing,
-
compelling, convicting, you will exercise restraint. Oh I know, I'm
-
preaching to myself, amen, and I will. Number two commitment calling needs
-
not just concentration, focused by commitments. That's where we come back to ephicions
-
for three or one to three. I, therefore, or the prisoner of
-
the Lord, beseech you to what worthy of the calling with which you were
-
called prisoner of the Lord. I want to revisit this again. You're so
-
committed right that you are, You're going to have to say to yourself,
-
you know I can't just do anything I want. I'm committed as a leader
-
is what I do. This is what I don't do. I'm a prisoner.
-
I don't do my will. You know, guys, I've been praying
-
for years. I say, God, you don't have to give me any
-
dreams. I don't need any dreams. And so how you're go, what
-
what do you mean? I said, because God has got dreams for me,
-
and you know, God's dreams are enough for a lifetime. So I
-
hardly ever have any dreams. I confess to you. People call me a
-
dreamer, and people call me one who continue his dream. Oh I got
-
it. Sundly you got football Academenia Sunday or clinic Sunday got Lynette's a suicide
-
prevention LA. And then suddenly got church. You got the common LA and
-
you know, never ending. But I'm telling you right now, not one
-
of them will my own personal dreams. Just I just be honest with you.
-
I don't have time for personal dreams because God has got too many dreams
-
for me already, and I just want his dreams. I have only one
-
lifetime to live the dreams of God. I you also me, So I
-
don't go around say I dream for a car. No, God, you
-
want to give me a car. Give me a car, thank you very
-
much. You want to you know why do you give me such a big
-
car? Or so? No? So you can do this? Okay,
-
fine, you know God you want. I only have got time. That's
-
only one lifetime, and you only live for eighty years. Then it's very
-
short. I only have time for God's dreams. I tell you this.
-
I say this to the Lord once a week at least. Lord, help
-
me to live your dreams, because your dreams are bigger than mine. Amen.
-
And I tell you what it's just. And every time I tell you
-
the truth that you live God's dreams, you know what God will do.
-
He will cause your little dreams here and there to be also fulfilled. It's
-
true, it's true. But but we go after God's dreams. But too
-
many people, too many Christians, are so busy with their own dreams that
-
you have no time for God's dreams. I you also me. I'm talking
-
about calling so we want to be a prisoner. Lord, put chains on
-
my hands so I don't go doing whatever I want. Put a bar,
-
you know, close the door. Lord. I know myself, I'm very
-
tempted with many things. I want to travel. I want to see the
-
world. You know, I've traveled almost half the world, but it's never
-
been on just a holiday, you know, wanting to or this is my
-
bucket list. Santorini, Italy. No bucket list. I said, Lord,
-
you take me wherever you want to take me. I tell you what
-
he's been doing. That, I tell you is even more. Is better
-
to go to a holiday with a little bit of purpose than jess only a
-
holiday, because if just on your holiday and you come back from the holiday
-
neating and then the holiday, but when you go in the Lord, you
-
will go really fulfilled. You come back from Osaka saying hallelujah. He was
-
only five days or six days in Osaka. But you know I got to
-
also eat sushi. I don't worry about it. Don't worry when I when
-
I travel, I get a little bit, you know, maybe when I
-
go to Melbourne, I get a little bit of hot chocolate, a little
-
bit of Australian breakfast. You know what I'm saying. What accident is that,
-
but I'm a prisoner of the Lord. How many of us can catch
-
a glimpse of a deeper meaning of what a prisoner of the Lord means?
-
And maybe even ask the question, am I a prisoner of the Lord?
-
Am I a prisoner of the Lord? So a prisoner? The next Slight
-
says is what Who's chained? Are you chained to the Lord? Chain to
-
his vision, his dreams, his desires? Are you rooted? Are you
-
saying, not my will but yours be done? Or are you saying,
-
not your will but mine be done? What is your anthem in life?
-
A la lujah? I'm excited to serve the Lord? I am, and
-
I'm talking when I say it is. Some of you might think, oh,
-
he's very arrogant, but I want to tell you in all humility,
-
that's been my life for the last at least fifteen years, when I caught
-
a glimpse that God's dreams are bigger than mine and I only have time for
-
his dreams. But you know, when you fulfill his dreams, he will
-
also fulfill yours. So surrender your dreams to the Lord. You know,
-
talking about routing, A lot of Christians will understand the power of rooting and
-
being rooted, and therefore we always move in our feet anyway we want to.
-
But you know, a tree, you don't see it running across the
-
field. Love, Christians are trees with legs, you know what I'm saying.
-
But you know why trees grow and trees bear fruit, not because they
-
are running from one church to another church. They root no matter what happens.
-
They roote, they say. Finally, even though it's not a perfect
-
church, I choose to root. I change myself as a prisoner of the
-
Lord, because the promise in the next scripture says, those who are planted
-
in the house of the Lord shall flourish in the cause of the Lord of
-
God, of our God. They shall still bear fruit in old age.
-
Oh, I'm hearing those with a little bit more age to your number and
-
number to your age saying Amen, praise God, because of course we want
-
that. You know, when I read around starting churches in the early days,
-
all young people, campus students, young people from the schools caught the
-
community is so different. Someone else laughs at the back there, cause the
-
community is very, very different because we have older youth. And my wife
-
looked at me and said, hey, what's God try to tell us.
-
God is trying to tell us to revive the older ones, you know,
-
because you're not done yet, and God is not done with you fifty five,
-
sixty five, seventy five, eighty five. If he's done with you,
-
you are in heaven. No in quota, the communing or the quota
-
coming sometimes gonna be heaven unless the gem comes. There is a little bit
-
of hell. But uh, hallelujah. So I look at my wife.
-
My wife say, how come the young people so few? I said,
-
no, yeah, just old the young people, all the young people who
-
have got young hearts and they want to serve the Lord, got children,
-
got families. But I tell you what this church EXCP quota communing especially,
-
I'm gonna tell you what, It's going to be very powerful because we've got
-
older young people who have two young hearts, but the ability to experience,
-
the wisdom, the capability to do more than a young person. Yes,
-
and so you're not done. Then to everybody say you're not done, the
-
best is said to come. Yeah. Hey, So saying hey, I'm
-
well done, No, lie, your medium really well, I'm cooked.
-
I'm fried. They shall still bear fruit in old age Hey, please,
-
people take this promise because in ten more years are you'll be old. I
-
finally use that word. I just want to be honest. Oh, you
-
know, politically correct, it is older. Okay, we'll be all.
-
But look at that. There is a promise for the old. Huh,
-
the Bible is not politically correct. I can't see. They shall still bear
-
fruit in older age all means older. But there's a promise for the oil
-
you bear fruital me, the promise of Sarah. Come upon you, cay.
-
I magine your grandmother ninety years old, pregnant. I'm a massie.
-
Ah back pain a no, no, pregnant. Gain they shall be fresh.
-
Oh do you know it's very hard to get fresh things these days?
-
Huh. You go to some market you want fresh, he's already been the
-
freezer for two months, and tell you as fresh vegetables. Hey, but
-
this the Bible says you will be fresh. Listen to a neighbor against it.
-
You will be fresh. I know this is a harder. Yeah,
-
smell smell smell them, smell them. No, I'm kidding, gidding,
-
Ah fresh, This is the promise of God. You will be fresh.
-
So how you could be tired? Today and like, oh, you know,
-
I need a holiday, right, But the Bible doesn't say a holiday.
-
It says plant yourself in the House of You know why so many Christians
-
these days are very tired after holidays because it's not the holidays only, it's
-
the planting of yourself in the house of God. And these are not the
-
words of your pastor Kennochine. These are the words of God. But we
-
refuse to be branded. And ever since Asia came about, I tell you
-
you're buying air the kids are at all times just because he's wondering it.
-
You don't even check the days yet by verse, so what right you cannot
-
go there? And where's one ringular? Right? Someone said before Asia has
-
got a lot to answer God. Or you're very quiet now, right,
-
and another airline would have come in, and I wanted to do even more
-
for us. In course it's enough enough, right, And guess be cool,
-
be cool? Yeah, instead of checking with a check lender, you
-
know, we just go, We just go. I'm not sure whether we
-
are planted in the house of the Lord or where are we planted? And
-
that's why we're not fresh, and that's why we're not flourishing. And that's
-
why we don't bear fruit where Okay, while your pastor is preaching today,
-
all right, holding back nothing but giving you only the best. I want
-
to bear food with my old age. And the answer is to be planted,
-
be rooted, be a prisoner of the Lord, can or not?
-
Otherwise you got to be a prisoner to something else. I'll guarantee you you've
-
got to be a prisoner to something else, simply as that make yourself a
-
prisoner of the Lord. Okay, where are we now? Character calling means
-
character. I therefore the prison of the Lord beseech you, besichd means what
-
I asked back, with urgency, ferv and see, I beg you to
-
walk worthy, balancing the scales of the calling with which you will call with
-
all loneliness and gentleness, with long suffering, bearing with one another in love
-
and darvoring to keep the unity of the spirit in the bond of peace.
-
You know what what worthy means. If you don't know that I explained it
-
to you there in red, it just means balancing the scales, meaning like
-
this, meaning like this, Ah, God has already given you a calling.
-
Let's let's say this is my right, my left hand, and God
-
has given you this calling. The calling is from God. The calling doesn't
-
minimize, maximize, The calling doesn't have h one like, for example,
-
are oh, this is baby calling. Anyone here got a baby calling?
-
You're reading for your calling to grow up? No, a calling is mature,
-
completely intact when it came from God. So if the calling is like
-
this, this high, you are called to be a pastor, you are
-
called to preach the gospel. The calling is high. And so what the
-
Word of God is telling us to do is to what worthy of that calling
-
means? Rise to your calling. The calling will never be a baby calling.
-
You will be a baby Christian, but the calling will never be So
-
when you receive from the Lord, it is a full intech calling and you
-
are to discover your calling. You are to grow into your calling and one
-
day match up to your calling. And what matches up to your calling is
-
character. Character, because the Bible says what worthy means. Balancing the scales
-
means, Ah, if that if this was a scale and that was high,
-
I've got to make sure that I come up to level with my calling,
-
and so that the day will come when it's balanced. I've got to
-
measure up and match up to my calling, which is my character. A
-
pastor asked me recently because he said, wow, Pastor Kenneth, it seems
-
that you are commissioned pastors in ex church quite like you know, We've never
-
seen it before. And this person said, in our church, we have
-
to go to Bible school. That are a lot of stuff. So I
-
had to explain to this pasta. I said, a pastor, I want
-
to explain to you what God told me is to commission leaders in this church
-
who are ready. And then he said, yeah, but uh uh that
-
going to Bible school for three four five years is part of being ready.
-
I say, yes, I agree. I'm not arguing with you, but
-
can I tell you this? And this was the sentence I want you to
-
hear, I say, pastor. This was in Pinang, say pastor,
-
I have seen more leaders for not because of the lack of knowledge of scripture,
-
because scripture you will continue to learn for the rest of your life.
-
I've seen them fall because of the lack of character. And so in this
-
church in acts, I told the pastor in Penang, we look out for
-
people's character first, because learning the scriptures is a lifetime and if you think
-
that you can do it in three years of seminary, you must be kidding.
-
And yet we base our calling based on three years of seminary. And
-
the real test is character. The real test has always been character. And
-
you need the character to measure up to your calling because too many people have
-
fallen, not because of knowledge or lack of it. It's always been because
-
of integrity. You know, honesty, humility. Are you with me?
-
Character? So your character or the right form will support your calling for the
-
long haul. That's what the next slight says, your character or having the
-
right form will support your calling for the long haul. Number four comforter,
-
Oh, I don't think I need to preach too hard. Comforter means the
-
Holy Spirit. And the reason why we fail in our calling is because we
-
go by our own strength, we go by our own wisdom, We go
-
to a seminar and we think we know it all. No, it's the
-
spirit of God that enables us. So I'm going to give you three and
-
gonna I'm gonna move on Zechariah fur six. So he answered and said to
-
me, this is the word of the Lord. To zero bebel not by
-
my nor by power, but by my spirit. Somebody say, amen,
-
you and I are going to measure up to our calling. Not because we
-
are so smart or so strong. No, we need the Holy Spirit,
-
and so I call all of you draw closer to the Holy Spirit. Want
-
more of him. Speak more in tongues. Really, if you have the
-
gift of tongues, pray more in tongues. Why are you so quiet?
-
You know, pray more in tongues. In fact, maybe set yourself a
-
goal five minutes a day praying tongues. You know, I'm trying to set
-
ten minutes, you know in my prayer time or raba kashanda because I get
-
edified. You know, I'm aware of the Holy Spirit and he's He's aware
-
that I need him. Next next scripture says but the Helper John fourteen twenty
-
six, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name.
-
He will teach you all things. Wow, how good is that? Is
-
there anything you need to know today? How you should live your life?
-
How you should be a better husband, How should be a better wife,
-
How should be a better parent? How you should be a better son and
-
daughter to your parents. He will teach you all things and bring to your
-
remembrance all things that Jesus said to us. The Helper will do that eye,
-
okay, And that's the reason why I think a big reason why people
-
don't measure up to their calling is because they don't have the help of the
-
Holy Spirit. They don't even depend on him. We want to depend on
-
the lot more and more on the Holy Spirit. Somebody say, Amen,
-
find out scripture on Holy Spirit, John sixteen seven. I thought, as
-
I read this time and time again, that this is such such a telling
-
verse that Jesus would say, if he doesn't go, the Holy Spirit won't
-
come, almost telling us that you need him more than you need me,
-
almost almost saying to you that he can do more for you and I,
-
individually, as a person walking on the earth, can do for you.
-
So I must go, And if I don't go, he won't come.
-
I want to make sure I'm reading the scripture properly. The Helper will not
-
come now it is it cannot, will not, will not. So Jesus,
-
who knows that it's better for us to have the Holy Spirit living in
-
us, because there's so much that he has said to us that can only
-
be accomplished with the Holy Spirit's help, he had to go. However,
-
you think that if Jesus remained that he would die. I think the Son
-
of God can be alive until today. If you want to do two thousand
-
years later, you know you're still using two thousand years latter. Is more
-
than two thousand eight, you know, Yeah, I think is twenty thirty
-
year past or twenty thirty three. I mean that the world is celebrating two
-
thousand years since Jesus, because he was thirty three when he died, and
-
so twenty thirty three tree is two thousand years, all right. And if
-
one year, one year, one thousand years is a day to the Lord,
-
so a day has gone after a thousand years, two days has gone
-
by the time we finished two thousand years one day. Two days is the
-
third day that he rolls up. So a lot of people are very excited
-
about the entry entry into our third thousand because it's the entry into the third
-
Day. So there's a quiet right through the years of where is Jesus?
-
And he keeps telling us that he's coming back soon. So within a very
-
short time we will enter the third thousand and the third Day. So they
-
are now calling it the Third Day movement. The resurrection, the coming of
-
the Lord, and then you see Israel. You see all this right,
-
and you know it's coming. So people, please, now is not the
-
time to you know, just dream our own dreams and have our little thing
-
and you know by all the etiquetes we want so that you know listen,
-
I know, please go for holidays, Please do whatever you think you need
-
to for your family. But listen to my heart because I'm telling you about
-
some things that if you didn't consider, you will not know that it is
-
so close and so real. Everybody, Okay, So Jesus, I have
-
to go because the Holy Spirit has to come. And so with that I
-
will close that point and come to the last point. Choice. And this
-
is the easiest of all five and yet the hardest. Easiest and yet the
-
hardest. Why because you can be called, but until you choose the calling,
-
even if it's from my Angela, even if it came down from Heaven.
-
Stand in front of you, Oh, Michael, Oh Gabriel, there's
-
a Gabel here. That's why I looked up to him. And this is
-
what the Lord has called you to be to do. It's still a choice
-
yes or no, and God wants us to make a choice. That's why
-
Matthew twenty two, verse fourteen says, many a call, but few are
-
chosen. Tell you why. It's not because God chooses us or not.
-
Many times, if not all the time, we actually make the choice ourselves.
-
You know, I told this to some of my leaders once upon a
-
timer, because through the years, I think I've been an employer now for
-
quite a few years. I started being an employer at twenty five with my
-
first staff, and now we have thirty three staff in the church office and
-
another close to sixty staff for our school, et cetera, et cetera,
-
So anywhere from seventy to eighteen ninety staff. And through the years, you
-
know, people have come in and gone out. I've recognized this though,
-
and some of you have employed people. Are you recognizing that people are Yeah,
-
so let's call when they first started a job, but they're calling.
-
They were called into the job, they had a awful letter, and then
-
through the years, don't know what happens. Some will do very well and
-
some will not, and some will actually be dragging their feet to work.
-
And then you say, hey, why are you so late that today?
-
A yeah, I know, woke up later sorry, La, boss,
-
Sorry, La, I won't do it, Agala, And then late another
-
time, late another time? Why are you still late? Uh? You
-
know my football team last night a lost heir, you know. Or my
-
football team last night, Warler, you know, and I was celebrating with
-
my friends. Okay, okay, forgive you know. And you know how
-
hard it is a in normal companies, okay, in church, very hard
-
now, very hard to release somebody, you know, very hard to even
-
scold somebody from Monday to Friday. Passa. I don't know. I'm sure
-
you understand this. A staff to scold the staff and then to preach on
-
Sunday. Let's start a Jesus loves you very hard, I tell you,
-
very hard. But the truth is that before you are even given the letter
-
of warning or finding the letter of releaser, you already chose. Many of
-
us already chose her to be released. We choose by our action. We
-
choose by our unwillingness to come early to work. We choose by our attitude.
-
We choose by us not being able to work with our teammates, not
-
being able to be a team worker, team player. We choose, and
-
people are nobody was a sec you. Nobody was there, but you know
-
every day you're saying, choose me. I want to go. I want
-
to be late again to worrow. Choose me. Sack me? You know?
-
Come on, why haven't you sacked me yet? Choose me? Hello?
-
Can you can you see it? I'm totally uh. You know I
-
had no regards to your to your authority. Choose me? Come on,
-
why you haven't given me the first warning letter? Choose me. I have
-
tomorrow. I'll come late again. Choose me? You understand? Do you
-
understand? So many God calls everyone, God calls all of us, but
-
no, we choose every day by our attitude, by our unwillingness, by
-
our stubbornness. You're saying, choose me, God, I dare you to
-
choose me, Choose me and take me out of the equation. I don't
-
think you do it because you are a good God. You are a loving
-
God, so you'll never sack me. Choose me. So many are called,
-
but fear are chosen because we have already chosen to not be included,
-
just by our actions. Father, in the name of Jesus, I know
-
my time is up, but I want to pray that every single person here
-
understands. The next slight says all of us are called to something, but
-
it's choice that seals it. And the last light says, I might be
-
defined by my calling, but my destiny is determined by my choices. You've
