You're listening to a message to go from X Church. We hope this message
-
will light up your day. Turn with me to X chapter three, and
-
I'm gonna read here from verse one to verse ten, and then after that
-
I'm gonna go into chapter four, where we will go through a bit more.
-
Okay, maybe I'll give a bit of context. Okay, X chapter
-
three, This is a bit of context about what has happened. So the
-
disciples, especially Peter and John, is now taking center stage. Okay.
-
So the four Gospels we see Jesus being born doing ministry, he was crucified,
-
he died, and he rose again, and then the book of X
-
takes off from here where the center stage is not. You know, Jesus
-
is still the main person, but now the transition happens to the power and
-
the movement of the Holy Spirit through the postels. Okay, truly apostles the
-
move and the Holy Spirit. Okay. And we see then when Jesus rose
-
from the dead, he told the disciples not to go and preach, not
-
to go, and heal not to go and do anything what he told him
-
to do. Wait in Jerusalem. Sometimes the hardest thing is to wait.
-
You know, they want want to do things. But when you hear God
-
say wait, you wait. And it was a very very important thing that
-
they did because you know, you know that when Jesus rose from the dead
-
and then told to his disciples that it was exactly almost parallel to what has
-
happened in Mount Sinai when Moses brought the people to worship God, and Moses
-
went up to the mountain to meet God and to take the commandment. He
-
told the people to wait. But the people when they waited, they couldn't
-
wait any longer. What did they do? They took all the gold jewelry
-
and then they asked to push what aaron to build a golden car? Isn't
-
it? Because they say that, I don't know why it's happened to Moses
-
give us a God that we will worship, and you know, and then
-
make us a God that we can worship. So because of that they commit
-
the idolatry, you know. So, yeah, you can be in the
-
mountain of God and yet still call me adult idolatry. Don't talk about it.
-
Coming to church. Sometimes you can want to do be in the presence
-
of God, and sometimes we call me idolatry as well. Why because our
-
hearts are not ready, we want to do instead of being in the presence
-
of God. Okay. So it's very important. And so because of that,
-
if you see a parallel between that Pentecosts in the Old Testament, in
-
Moses time, three thousand died Pentecosts in the New Testament, when Jesus,
-
who is greater than Moses, who is like you know, he's like a
-
better version of Moses, when he came, he didn't bring this is right.
-
He brought a new group of people, the Disciples. He told them,
-
and they and they obeyed, and because of that, three thousand will
-
added. So total difference is in it obedience versus disobedience. Disobedience can bring
-
death, and obedience brings life and growth as well. So it's amazing.
-
So we see that parallel happening there, and the disciples waited, and what
-
we waited was the promise of the Holy Spirit, okay, and the promise
-
of the Holy Spirit. Now we can't we can't do anything in life,
-
do church, or do anything that God has called to us without the power
-
of the Holy Spirit. It's simple as that. That's why why it was
-
so powerful, so important for them to wait. But then when they after
-
they waited, and then this the Holy Spirit manifested among them through the speaking
-
of tongues, and Peter gave his first summon very powerful. But nothing has
-
been done in the public arena yet. Okay. So this is where extra
-
to three when when I cover, is where the center stage would take.
-
This is where you will think that three thousand is powerful enough for the movement
-
of Jesus. Right, God is gonna take it another notch even higher.
-
Okay, in just a very short time. God, it's gonna take it
-
into a different we now as well. Okay. So in verse chapter three,
-
verse one, you say, here, now Peter and John went up
-
together to the temple, okay, and at the hour of prayer, the
-
ninth hour. This temple, of course, is talking about the Jerusalem Temple.
-
The two temples have been built in the history of Israel. Of course,
-
the third one is being planned right now, and we need thates.
-
We know that, and it's near ready. Okay. So the first temple
-
was built by who Solomon, okay, Solomon, the second one King Herod.
-
Which one is bigger? King Solomon? Who says, King Solomon?
-
Why? Why? Why is it bigger? King Solomon reaches it, he
-
smarter, wiser. Sorry to buss your bible, but King Herod' temple is
-
at least three times bigger. You can check out you can check out the
-
issue. But size doesn't matter on this part. Okay. It's not about
-
with It's very complex, you know. But yeah, anyway, so when
-
they built the temple, there are many layers. You got the porch of
-
Solomon, you got the gentle court yard, the lady caught yard. And
-
he says him that there was a man verse to a man that was laying
-
from his mother's room, very important, from young from Bertha. He was
-
lame. He and then was carried. They laid him at the gate of
-
the temple, which was called beautiful. Okay. So the temple had multiple
-
gates, probably about three main gates like that. So this was the second
-
one, okay, and they have different directions. You know, they're actually
-
nine if I seven to nine gates okay. One of the gates was called
-
beautiful. On the main gates, it's very beautiful because it's, uh,
-
it's heavy, it's like you know, twelve twelve to fifteen feet high,
-
uh, and it's very thick and normally if you know it's reserved for until
-
this stage. Normally the women will not be able to go up ready,
-
so the rest of the men will go up there as well. He says
-
that they actually laid him there, okay, to ask for alms from those
-
who enter the temple. Hey, he was there to beg and in verse
-
three, who seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple, ask
-
for alms? He asked from them, and fixing his eyes on him with
-
John, Peter said, look at us. So he gave them his attention,
-
expecting to receive something from them. Then Peter said, one of the
-
most important, you know verses that you need to remember for your own life
-
as you witness. You know, you remember this verse to be able to
-
witness, to be able to understand the not just the verse, the posture
-
that you are about to carry when you minister to people. Silver and go
-
I do not have, but what I do have I give to you.
-
Okay, So let's read this together again, Hey, very import then one
-
two three silver and gold I do not have, but what I have I
-
give to you. Okay, this is very important. However, we minister
-
to people. You go to your friends, maybe they are sick, or
-
go to your colleagues. You go to anyone they say, ask for money.
-
I don't have money, but I have something else to give to you.
-
Okay. When you say that, you honor God as well. You
-
honor God as well. Okay, in the name of Jesus Christ of naturers
-
rise up and more? What did he have? No silver? And God?
-
What do you have the name of Jesus? And today this is our
-
main message, the name of Jesus. Okay. Now it's quite powerful because
-
you look at it. In the following verse, he says, here and
-
he took him by the right hand. People took him by the right hand
-
and lifted him up, and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength.
-
So he lived, being up, stood and walked and entered the temple.
-
He didn't just stand. And then he actually walked into the temple with them.
-
How did he walk? There's it's not it's not just walking on.
-
There is a manner in which he walked. He walked with him, but
-
walking, leaping and praising God. And all the people saw him walking and
-
praising God. Then they knew that it was he who sat begging arms at
-
the beautiful Gate of the temple, and they were filled with wonder and amazement
-
at what has happened to him. In a lot of ways, this layman
-
represents us is in it, see the temple of God's holy. A lot
-
of us are poor and we are just like this layman only can sit at
-
the side. And the thing is we just asking, you know, hey,
-
can you give me alms? But Peter, he says very specifically,
-
Peter said that look at us. Why because the guy was not looking at
-
him. This is a powerful thing, you know why we can When when
-
was the last time that you just do things our routine without looking at a
-
person in the eye. You're doing it because you've been doing it for forty
-
years, right, Conna. It's like if I suddenly asked past offering her.
-
Then when you're part of it, I say, look at me,
-
oh, look at me? What those Because Peter was saying that, no,
-
today is the day of your salvation. Today was different. He was
-
I realized that Wow, he looked at him. He said, in the
-
name of Jesus, you're healed. It was like, wow, and we
-
are. It's just like us, you know, sometimes we don't realize that
-
God is in front of us. We just do our routine until God calls
-
us by name and our attention that we look to him. And this is
-
the moment of what faith that you need to exercise, believe or not in
-
Then the thing that he heard more than anything else in this you know forty
-
years, what's the one thing in the name of Jesus. You can hear
-
Moses, the ten commamas, or whether you were sinful when young or not,
-
whether your mother and mother did wrong or not. We can hear all
-
this things. But the one thing that broke through that knowess what was it?
-
In the name of Jesus. If you are here, if you're like
-
him, would you ever imagine yourself to be healed? What kind of condition?
-
In what setting would be some you know, a miracle said the only
-
thing that he was prepared for for the healing was to hear the name of
-
Jesus. That was his beckon name, that was his calling. More the
-
most for him, it was the most beautiful name authority had he had ever
-
heard before someone someone ever spoke to him. And just like us as well,
-
we come to God by no other name but the name of Jesus.
-
And when God holds our hands, we stand up not by our own strength,
-
but by but through Him. Okay, we stand up through the power
-
of the name of Jesus, and we started to experience what He didn't just
-
walk in like that. No, he working, jumping and living and praising
-
God. What does it God require? We're not supposed to enter into the
-
presence of God without praising thanksgiving. Remember, no, we must always enter
-
into the courts, into in the Temple of God with what with with praise
-
and thanksgiving because God has done the great work in us. When we go
-
in, just like normal people, we are not aware of what God has
-
done in our lives. We are not in the proper posture, and God
-
is not glorified in it. Why did you come to the temple? This
-
is just for yourself? Or is it to glorify God? And the only
-
if you about glorifying God? The only way you can glorify God is that
-
you praise Him and you give things. So when I asked you this,
-
ask all of us here the same question. When you come to church,
-
what is it for? Is it, like you know, just to hear
-
the word or are you coming here to glorify God? And if you're coming
-
to glorify God. How does worship stir you? How? What kind of
-
responses should you be having? She'd be like, oh, God, man,
-
I hope this ends faster, Hey, faster Steven. And you know
-
where are we going for lunch? And right now you get me right?
-
Is there how we enter into passed through the beautiful gate? Know that the
-
gate called beautiful beautiful. This guy is running and jumping and praising and we
-
are deciding when to come out for at luncher. You know what I mean?
-
Right, it's it's it's it's it's so much we can actually draw from
-
it, you know, the spirituality that's coming from it, and what should
-
be Okay, this is just the first, the foretaste of what God is
-
doing to Peter and to everyone around as well. And he says there that
-
you know, when people saw him, they realized who he was. They
-
realized who he was, and they will filled with wonder and amazement. You
-
see, we can come to church if you are not see we can be
-
coming to church and doing all these things are but we have no effect on
-
people one and get me right, no effect. It's just that people know
-
you go to church, but we are not called to be like that.
-
Now God has done a great work in us. We are meant to be
-
sought and like because there is a difference within us when you go out,
-
is there a difference between you? Uh, you know and and the world
-
outside. They say, the salt ore there is useless. You know what
-
they use sort this is useless for you know what when salt is useless,
-
what do you do with it? You're throwing the ground? Why throwing useless
-
in the ground is as a battle tactic, you know, you know that
-
when I think it's a real romance. When the Romans that they pillage over
-
carthagere, when they when they when when they when they defeat the cart,
-
they were so upset with them. They said that we never want Carthage to
-
rise up again. So what they do is that they they they earn their
-
houses, their villages are and they're through salt so that no vegetation will ever
-
grow again. So instead of becoming a blessing and you become a course.
-
Ah, nothing good for but to be trampled. You know, what are
-
you safe for? People? What are you safe for? Okay, it's
-
very very important, you know, So now I think about it, all
-
these Roman people. Are they we just liedterally true, not just useless sort
-
line. They just throw so that nothing can grow. Okay, So it's
-
very important that we and when you look at it, it's that we examine
-
ourselves when we come before God. Do we revere God? Do we remember
-
God? Do we you know, consider his name to be halloh minite,
-
the proper reverence and acknowledgment to God as well. Okay, now let me
-
move on, and let's turn to act chapter four. Okay, kind of
-
here from verse one, so we see a reaction from the people. Then
-
things start to take a change. Nine verse four, chapter verse one,
-
Chapter four, verse one, you say, and now it's they spoke to
-
the people, the priests, the captain of the temple, and the Seduces
-
came upon them, being greatly disturbed that they taught the people and preached in
-
Jesus the resurrection from the dead. Now, how many of you are familiar
-
with the Seduces. Theuces one of the two main groups in the Jewish community.
-
So one is the Seduces and the Pharisees. The Suduces are comprised of
-
more of the elite, richer families and lineage. Okay, but Their belief
-
system mainly resides with that. They believe no more than the four that the
-
Torah four five thrus books okay, means beyond that are the books of Isaiah,
-
Jeremiah. They don't believe in it, okay. So they only strictly
-
adhere to the Torah book on the okay. And because of that, they
-
don't believe in the resurrection. Mean that when you die, just go into
-
avoid emptiness. So they don't believe in resurrection. But now there's a problem
-
this temple here there are a bunch of people talking about the reason Christ.
-
So it was a threat to them as well. The other group is the
-
Pharisees, but I won't talk much about them today, okay. So so
-
thes came to them, became greatly disturbed that they taught the people and preached
-
in Jesus the reception from the dead, and they laid hands on the parcels
-
put them in custody until the next day, for it was already evening.
-
However, many of those who heard the word believed, and the number of
-
them came to be about how many five thousand, that's by one miracle,
-
by true the name of Jesus Okay, you don't need money and silver,
-
silver and money you have, but people need the name of Jesus. Okay.
-
Now verse five, Okay, it talks about addressing to the Sanhedrin,
-
and it came to pass on the next day that they are rulers, elders
-
and scribes as well as Anna's the high priest care first John and Alexander and
-
as many as were of the family of the high Priests were gathered together at
-
Jerusalem. Okay, together they comprise of the Sanhedrin. The Sanhedrin is basically
-
the most powerful group of people, and they will consists of seventy one people.
-
They are of our elders and one main high priest as well. Okay.
-
And these people they make up the highest judicial system or priestly system at
-
that time, to judge, to pass laws. And they don't work independently.
-
They actually have to work in concert with the Roman government. Okay.
-
In fact, the Roman government is the one that appoints the high priests.
-
It's like, you know, you have a prime minister, but another government
-
appoints the prime minister. So the appointment of the high priest is actually you
-
know, you hear Annas and side Care First, they are actually related,
-
the two of them. So when Jesus when he was arrested, right,
-
it was interesting that he was supposed to bring to Annes but he didn't bring
-
but he was also bring to care First. Why because care First was actually
-
the earlier high priest. He was the sort of like the shared of high
-
priests whatever that care First wanted, Andes will actually sort of like agree to.
-
I think I can't remember what who was it. I think Anes was
-
the one who was the son in law of care First, So they were
-
in concert. And because the high priest the role was appointed by Romans,
-
right, Actually that role is actually kind of like not appointed but bided,
-
Okay, So that's why, like and also to get the high priest role,
-
they have to pay money, say like one million, two million,
-
you know, and then the high priests, through the systems will appoint what
-
they called it priests and text collectors as well. So Matthew was that's why
-
if you look at Matthew, he was a tax collector, he was a
-
priest. So because of this system, this reform to the priestly system,
-
right, a lot of the priests became tax collectors. Matthew the text collector,
-
so when you read Levi and stuff like that, so they became text
-
collectors. So it was quite a shameliner people who are priests who you know,
-
we're talking about thousands of priests who were serving God and because of the
-
Roman ruler, they become like despised, you know, and instead of serving
-
God down there serving a Roman government. And a lot of times they collect,
-
they collect more than they have as well. So if you think about
-
it, there's a very high chance the key is the guy who was on
-
climbing on the trier was probably a priest as well. We don't know yet,
-
but there's speculation on it. Okay, So Andy, there's site site
-
info. So Anderson, So the whole entire group of Usanhedrin came about to
-
question them. And this is the same group of council that actually questioned Jesus
-
and demanded that conscious pilot to uh what they could to crucify Jesus as well,
-
the same group and verse seven, it says there and when they had
-
set them in the midst they asked, okay, they asked one of the
-
most important questions, one of the most not the emos one demos okay question
-
in the New Testament. Okay, what question was that? By what power?
-
Or by what name have you done this? Okay? By what power?
-
And by what name? They didn't even deny the miracle happened, you
-
know, they didn't even deny it. They just say they happened. They
-
acknowledge that it happened. That there is power. They acknowledge there is power,
-
that they acknowledged, that there is authority that must come from somewhere.
-
The question is not what happened, is how and who it came from?
-
Okay, how and who it came from? And this was exactly the setup
-
that God had planned for Peter and for John as well. This exactly the
-
setup that God wanted. And in verse eight, okay, Peter, filled
-
with the Holy Spirit, said to them, rulers of the people and elders
-
of Israel, if we this day are judged for a good deed done to
-
a helpless man, remembers understanding. Peter is not educated when he's afficient manner,
-
but yet he seems to be able to grasp and navigate and go on
-
the offensive in this courtroom drama here, very very powerful. He says that,
-
oh saw the case and by which I'm judged is not what it's been
-
done. But you're judging me how this good deed was done? Okay,
-
you just want to know the source. Let me tell you then, Okay.
-
He says that by what means he has been made? Well, let
-
it be known to you all. Okay. He first addressed to the Sanhedrin
-
and to all the people of Israel that by the name of Jesus Christ of
-
Nazareth. Okay, Well he didn't stop there. He say by the name
-
of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. It's what he adds after that that re stir
-
something up. Who did he say? Whom you crucify? Whom God raised
-
from the dead by him? This man stands here before you. Now,
-
this is a very powerful thing. You know why Suddenly you can watch a
-
Colt drama and then you know, you can see the trial happening, and
-
suddenly the witness says that, oh, actually, uh, you know,
-
I want to call another witness. This is implication because that person was there.
-
Sharon, You're like, what why am I suddenly calling to that?
-
You know, but Peter is implicating what he's implicating not just the witnesses,
-
implicating the whole entire Judicial, the Sanhedrin, and all the people of Israel,
-
implicating that because Jesus did not just die. Okay, the name by
-
which the person this this miracle was performed is not just a person who died.
-
How did Jesus die? Crucified means what do people want to be crucified?
-
Normally one crucified means what punish we're punished. It's like if we go
-
to It's like, for example, in the school and suddenly a student saved
-
another girl from being not done, and the parent and they said, uh.
-
Then the principal came out and asked the parent, Oh, who saves
-
your daughter? Ah? Yeah, the kid whom you punish for discipline?
-
You know what I'm saying here. So by asking that question, they didn't
-
realize they are doing themselves, you know, because they punish the kid that
-
saved the girl, and so who is made look foolisher the principal so in
-
the sense he drinks. By asking that question, they implicated themselves because this
-
is not just any other name, not just a powerful name, a name
-
they punished and murdered, a name that you thought, by bringing down to
-
the grave, will have no more power. Normal say, But yet up
-
from the grave, he roes. And it's still performing work right now.
-
A powerful name, you know, the name of Jesus is still working.
-
You know, people, what a powerful name it is, the name of
-
Jesus. The name of Jesus is still at workman, people, It's still
-
at work, you know. You know. Sometimes you know, we like
-
to you know, we like as human beings, we have this this fleshly
-
need to be associated. H you know, I'd like to be associated with
-
this famous person when your work, you know, being associated, and you
-
put the prospectus and then the first thing about the company, you know,
-
is all the directors from maybe to establish what credibility association all these fellow was
-
that and this day and then you put all your credentials and all these things.
-
You want to be associated? Okay, uh you know, and you
-
know when we when we climb a certain ladder already when we get associated,
-
all I meant, I've been to this network and this guy knows me,
-
he will give a referral to me. We feel very proud, you know.
-
And then suddenly if one of these days want the okay, and this
-
that thought saying that I was able to guarantee your your contract put there,
-
people will sign you even doing much money because he puts his name there.
-
People take up your contract and give you the contract or maybe give you a
-
letter guaranteed. But then suddenly the dog going bankrupt. What happens then?
-
Do people still give you the contract? People be asking money from you?
-
You know you'll be a different girl. People knocking on your door or the
-
what's the what the longer? It's not that it's the our long guy already
-
from that or a long Okay, it'll be chasing for you. You know
-
what the name normal carries power. Jesus died, died, parnish or bankrupt
-
is one thing and all but crucified and all of words of the worst names
-
you know use the same namer when you used to even the name of some
-
bankrupt. But to go and apply for a bank, to go and buy
-
your car. I don't much money, but I'm going to apply for this
-
guy who's bankrupt a criminal record. To go and apply for alone. Nobody
-
will give it to you. But the name of Jesus who died is able
-
to heal the name of Jesus still working on. So they can only prove
-
one thing either the either either the all Jesus is really from the devil like
-
they called, or from Belzeburg, or he really is innocent, the son
-
of God. So you, the Sanhedrin, have murdered the wrong person,
-
and you are guilty, you said. And it's not only are guilty,
-
only you're judge wrong here, but you claim you are the people, the
-
select group of people of God. You think you said that you know the
-
law, but yet you prosecuted and killed his prophet. And more than that,
-
it's begotten son ah. So it's a very powerful thing, you know.
-
Now, you understand that it's amazing that the Peter healed a person.
-
He'll heal a layman. But the setup was for him to work. The
-
miracle became a blessing for those who believe, but it became a judgment on
-
those who are evil with there will be a separation at the end of the
-
days, the ships and the ghats people. Every miracle that God brings will
-
separate the sheep and the God. The sheep and the God, the sheep
-
and the God. You believe that right now? We believe in you know
-
why, because we know human nature is human nature's sinfulness and all these things.
-
So it says here verse eleven, this is the stone which was rejected
-
by you builders, not just Jesus, but he is the stone which was
-
rejected by the builders. We had now become the chief cornerstone. Nor is
-
there salvation in any other For there is no other name under Heaven given among
-
men by which we must be saved. The name that was, you know,
-
so called thought to be buried into the ground. The name that was
-
couldn't have been any worse. The name that was crucified under a tree is
-
the name that we must be saved by. Amazing, really amazing. Wow.
-
So when you use the name of Jesus, are still going to shrink
-
away? There is power, There is power, no other name, you
-
know. Okay, Now, let's move on as I draw to a close.
-
Here verse thirteen, he says, here, now, when they saw
-
the bonus of Peter and John and perceived that they were uneducated and untrained men,
-
they marveled, and they realized that they had been with Jesus. So
-
it's not just the word, okay, but what activated them, what activated
-
the apostles, you know, into to make such a statement. It was
-
the boldness and the reality and the presence of God in their lives give me
-
that. So is the presence of God that activated their boldness. You can
-
know a lot of truth today, but if there is no reality of God
-
in your life, the boldness in your heart will not be activated. You
-
get what I'm saying here, A lot of Christians and all believers I can
-
hear yeah, yah yah yeah, But there's no reality. And that's why
-
the boldness cannot be activated. Because you fear. The only way you can
-
overcome fear is through the reality and the presence of God. You get mean
-
right, because it is a presence mind. When you're feared, because there
-
is a circumstance around you that's going to box you at your age, your
-
money, your protection, your career, your knowledge of forces outside. There
-
is a fear, then there's a reality that the world gives you. So
-
the only thing that can propel you forward is the reality of God that comes
-
not from the outside, that comes from the inside. That is, what
-
is in you is greater than what is outside of you, true or not.
-
Now everything come starts to make sense is in it. So the reality.
-
That's why they said that they realized they had been with Jesus, because
-
they have been with Jesus. There is why they are bold, Okay,
-
not just bold, They are bold because they have been with Jesus, and
-
they and then the boldness was activated, and their boldness proclaimed the name of
-
Jesus. Understand presence and the boldness, and then proclamation of God as well.
-
Okay. And in verse fourteen. And seeing the men who had been
-
healed standing with them, okay, there was an evidence, they could say
-
nothing against it. But when they had commanded them to go outside of the
-
council, they conferred among themselves, saying, what shall we do with this
-
man? Okay? For indeed that a notable miracle has been done through them.
-
It's evident to all who dwell in Jerusalem, and we cannot deny it.
-
You can say all you want, You can say anything, you can
-
throw all the accusation against them and against Jesus. He said, all the
-
things are he claimed to be Moses, like maybe he claim to destroy the
-
tempolar, He claiming you must eat off his flesh and blood, like all
-
the whole things are. But yet even he does, people can hear you.
-
So they got nothing to say, you know, because it's evident and
-
people everyone saw it. So that's the power might have glory of God,
-
isn't it? Nothing can shut it? One and no, okay, now
-
he says here in verse seventeen, But so that it spreads no further among
-
the people. What did they do? Let us severely threaten them? They
-
could only threaten them that from now on? What do they want? So
-
that they don't have worship anymore? They don't buyble study anymore, they don't
-
put posters any more. What's the one thing they don't want you to do?
-
You speak the name of Jesus. You can worship, you can do
-
Bible study, you can go and visit the poor, help the poor,
-
bill projects, everything, But anything you do, just don't do it under
-
the name of Jesus. That's the one thing they want you to shut.
-
You can speak in tongue and oh, you're going on. But the one
-
thing they want to don't do it under the name of Jesus. But it
-
is the only thing that we have. You understand what I'm saying. It
-
is the only thing. Peter went there to proclaim nothing or no, he
-
didn't that. Oh I gave a great summer and dependecost. I got say,
-
six thousand people. Hey, hey, check out myriads with me.
-
And the only thing he came by was by what strength the name of Jesus
-
Christ, whom you prosecuted. You cannot prosecute them by anything else but the
-
name. The name of Jesus will judge them. The name of Jesus is
-
everything power, isn't it. Now? Let's move on here. In verse
-
eighteen, so they called them and commanded them not to speak at all,
-
not teach in the name of Jesus. We preach, we teach. We're
-
saying, we give all in what name of Jesus. But Peter and John
-
answered and said to them, whether it is right in the sight of God
-
to listen to you more than to God, you judge, For we cannot
-
but speak the things which we have seen and heard. We cannot we see
-
and heard what he is saying. It's real to us. We can only
-
say and testify the things that are real to us. You can threaten us,
-
like I said, there will always be fear coming outside. But what
-
we have seen and heard, He has already brought forth a reality in our
-
heart that you cannot threaten and press down. You know what I'm saying,
-
God is too really our lives it's so real it cannot be pressed down.
-
It's from the inside of their private cannot. We have seen and heard,
-
we have tasted, we have known, so we cannot. It's in us,
-
it is all of us. Okay, So whatever I but the things,
-
but speak the things for which we have seen and heard in verse twenty
-
one. So when they had further threatened them, they let them go,
-
finding no way of punishing them because of the people, since they all glorified
-
God for what has had been done for the man was over forty years of
-
whom this miracle of healing had been performed. Okay, lastly, and so
-
now we've seen that Peter and John triumph over the Sanhedrin last time. When
-
Jesus went there, he was crucified. Jesus performed many miracles. Yeah,
-
the disciples perform only one miracle. But yet when they went there, they
-
came out alive, not only alive, blameless or quite amazing, isn't it.
-
You think about it? Before there, before Jesus was raised, were
-
they like they were scared, you know, locking themselves in the door,
-
And you say that, hey, is Jesus really not say but if you
-
look at the transformation and what happened with the disciples. It speaks of what
-
God is alive. No, no, no, no person that can experience
-
such a transformation. When you're the teacher you followed, are just got crucified
-
and you're hiding your house. Suddenly are you're dare to go and heal people
-
and testify before the he testify testified before the person who killed your former master.
-
Know what happened because only you believe that Jesus is alive. They may
-
not see Jesus, but Jesus is alive in them. Jesus. People in
-
this world may not see Jesus right now, but they see Jesus in you.
-
He came mean right by you, by the virtue of you when they
-
see you, by the works that you do, by the life, and
-
more importantly, by the reality that you live in. God is manifested.
-
Makes sense. We project the reality of God even in us. Amen.
-
Now, he says, here how they so? Now Peter comes back to
-
the to the belief that the group believers. How did they respond? As
-
we come to a close, He says, after being let God, they
-
went to their own companions and reported all that the chief priests and elders had
-
said to them. So when they heard that, they raised their voice to
-
God. One of the things, no I asked you, guys, when
-
you heard this, how would you respond? Would you be like them to
-
respond to God with one God saying that Lord, you are God who made
-
heaven and the earth and the sea and all that is in them, who,
-
by the mouth of your servant David, had said, by the nation's
-
rage and the people prot baying things, you know what these people are almost
-
like prophesying, you know, in one accordinal the kings of the earth to
-
their stand, and the rulers were gathered together against the Lord, against their
-
Christ, for truly, against your holy servant Jesus, whom you anointed both
-
herod and ponscious pilot. With the gentiles and the people of Israel, were
-
gathered together to do whatever your hand and your purpose determined beforehand to be done.
-
What they are saying is that God, all these people had schemed plan
-
to, you know, or to thwart and to murder the one that you
-
have said. All this had been planned, because God is sovereign. What
-
men intended for evil, God has allowed and used it in a way to
-
bring forth glory for Him and salvation to us as well. People. You
-
might think that evil and you know, evil and the world seems to rule.
-
You can't see it. But God rules and over rules. You understand
-
all this time, God rules and he over rules what people plan. And
-
we say, oh God, it shouldn't be this way. No, no,
-
no, God works in a different plane, different field. God rules
-
and over rules. That's why I say Heaven rules. Isn't it Heaven rules?
-
When we see this in all through Christs as well? And you say
-
that verse twenty nine. Now look Lord, look on their threats. Okay,
-
now this is the part. And what did they ask when they pray
-
together that what did they ask from the Lord? Said? Oh, Lord,
-
just grant us favor someone. No, they pray and ask grant to
-
your servants. Who are these servants? Is it just limited to the apostles?
-
So the rest of ours is just stay in the church? Is it?
-
So? So the rest of the time when people when when there's a
-
miracle that happened to your family, maybe through cancer, maybe God provided for
-
you save your child. So we don't use the name of Jesus anymore.
-
So we normal, but this is only activated for the servants, so called
-
the apostles. But if that's the case, then why are miracles still happening
-
among the believers and among us as well? You know what I mean?
-
Right? So that itself by the reality that the fact that healing Americas are
-
still happening, means that we are called to bear witness, that we are
-
implicated in this audience here of the servants. You know what I mean,
-
right, Just the simple fact that you pray and you ask for America and
-
it's still happening, we are called to bear witness. It cannot be that
-
you experience, you ask for America, and you experience and witness America,
-
that you do not give an account for it. Why then God will give
-
you a miracle? Then every miracle for healing. Our people will still go
-
back to the grave on you. You're a letter, you extent maybe a
-
year or two or maybe a bit more. But even then people still go
-
to the grave. But why then they God healed? Why then the White
-
God still perform all this healing so that people will know him? And how
-
can people know him if we don't bear witness? You know what I mean?
-
Right? Miracle is never just for us, It's always about God.
-
Every miracle. That's why Jesus said no miracle should be given to you except
-
the sign of Journal, because you are a wicked and perverse generation. But
-
for those who believe and are pure hearted, the miracle will lead you into
-
repentance. It's all about God. You get what I'm saying here, It's
-
all about God. Now what did they What did they pray? Now,
-
Lord, look on their hearts and ground to your servants, ground to all
-
of you here that with all boldness, not with a bit of boldness,
-
with all boldness, you and I everyone here may speak your word. God's
-
desire is for you and I to speak his word, that we will have
-
boldness. Like I said, why bondness because God is real in your life.
-
If God is not your life, then of course you don't apply.
-
Then it doesn't apply to you. Then then you need to ask for the
-
reality of God in your life. But God has been real, So now
-
you need to respond. And the response is boldness to speak your word by
-
stretching out your hand to heal when they speak by bondness, by stretching out
-
your hand God's hand. We may stretch up, but it is actually God's
-
hand that is stretching out to heal signs and wonders may be done through what
-
the name of your Holy Servant Jesus. Amen. What a beautiful name it
-
is, isn't it. I hope that we all appreciate, you know,
-
and then really revere the powerful name of Jesus in terms of its power,
-
but also in terms of his responsibility. We like to quote the name of
-
Jesus, but there's a responsibility that comes with the name of Jesus. It's
-
not just wielding, but it's the responding to proclaim it, to be bold
-
about it. Amen. Every time sometimes when people come to, hey,
-
how did you get this on it's the name of Jesus. Amen. We
-
hope you've been blessed by this message. For more information on our church,
