it's still generally thank God. I can still preciate message because it's still Genuary.

I appreciate mysshages in the last Sunday of XPJ. Right, So I've

got a few questions for us this morning. First is how has your twenty

twenty three been? How has it been? Did you manage to do what

you needed to do or not? You know, the start of doing to

the tree. Maybe we had a you know, a New year resolution.

I mean one of my resolutions is I want to lose weight. Okay,

that's my that's my constant resolution. Right. But so far, they say

I've been quite successful. If you follow me on Instagram, I've been going

to the gym. Why because I've been putting myself under open accountability with the

chest plant that I preached in So I I openly account to you today.

I will go to the gym this week on Tuesday. Okay, I openly

account. Okay, you can ask, you can calme, you can get

when gym or not. Okay, I give you that authority. Okay,

but do you manage do what you needed to do now? Last year?

Maybe you had a goal in the beginning of the year, right, let's

go a bit deeper. Did you manage rule what God asked you to do?

Did God ask you to do something? Were there anything that distracted you?

Did you get stayed off course? Or maybe to be a little bit

deeper, were there any challenges or discouragements which affected you? Do you know

that discouragement is very real. Discouragement can derail you from your destiny. It

can It can derail you. Right. Believe is a very powerful thing.

I'm beginning to realize more and more. If you really believe, you can

turn something that is going downhill around to going uphill if you really believe.

But if you're discouraged, even if everything is going right, it will start

going downhill from then onwards. It's happened to a few different things in the

past years. I've observed it's happened in different areas. I've seen it happen

in people's lives. I've seen it happen in organizations. As I'm moral,

it's very very important for those of you on literallyship. You understand this.

The moment your team's moral go down, the moment is discouragement in your team.

Everything goes downhill. You won't hit your targets, people start complaining,

people start leaving. It's a sinking ship. Not because things are wrong,

or because the process is wrong or not because of that. It's nothing,

just because of discouragement. So as we move on to twenty twenty four,

it's actually good for us. Do you all know that God is a god

of second chances. So I'm bringing these things. I'm not just doing you

feel bad now, okay, because it's for this year. It's a new

year. Hey, you're in January, right, it's a new year,

new year, new you, new things. Okay, Right, even if

you say all about for ten years, you know it's okay, Today's going

to be the year, right, Today's gonna be here. Right. It's

good if you can reflect on what we can do better and what we can

prepare to whether what might happen. Okay, can I prepare you a little

bit for this year? Can I just prepare you this year? Right?

You guys are going to get offended this year. This year. This year,

bad things going to happen to you. I'm not prophesying her. I'm

not prophesying her this year that your loved one's going to hurt you. They

might not mean it, but it's going to happen. This year. Things

are going to go wrong at your work. You're know that, right,

This year you might get a flat tire. Yeah, this year the news

might be bad. Do you know that the ring it just went down.

I don't know how low you will go? You know bad news? Do

we expect it? No? Friends, A lot of things can happen this

year, but that doesn't mean that you can. You need to go with

the floor. You can prepare for what might happen, right. I just

want to highlight this verse in Matthew chapter twenty five. So you got your

bubbles can turn to that Matthew chapter twenty five. What do I mean by

preparation? Well, when you go camping and you didn't prepare, you will

suffer if you go camping. For those of you who go camping, actually

you don't go campingo, so you don't know. If you didn't bring a

ten and you felt like I can sleep under the stars in Malaysia, and

it rains. You will suffer. If you go camping and you didn't bring

insect repellent, you will suffer. If you decided that, hey, I

am not going to bring a sleeping bag, you might suffer. I don't

know sound you like to sleep on hert rock. I don't know. If

you say, hey, I want to go camping three days, two nights

into the jungle, and I'll only bring one can of beans, how many

of you will look at your friend who's preparing all it that way and go,

You're crazier. But then why do we think that we can go through

life not preparing? You know what I mean? I just gave you your

can agree, But I said, all the not so nice things that will

happen is here. Do you know that if you already prepared that it will

happen to you, you can expect it. You know what? Since I'm

going to get offended by Zerbin, I'll be ready to forgive him the moment

with you five steps that can help us stay the court as we prepare for

But before that, let's talk about the Bible. Let's talk about what is

God's expectation over our lives. There's a lot of talk about success, there's

a lot of celebration of success. But I have a study different view when

it comes to what God wants us to do, and it comes from the

parable of the talents right. And this is of course spoken by Jesus.

It says here for the Kingdom of Heaven is like a man traveling to a

far country who called his own servants and delivered his goods to them. Okay,

how many of you know this story? Just raise up your hand.

You know this. Sorry, you've heard this before, You've seen this.

Okay, we're not sure what to care? Okay, good. Can you

go back and do some homework and read Menthew chapter twenty five. Can go

and read messagechater five, verse fourteen to thirty. So you can't understand the

story. But I just want to highlight two verses. Okay, I won't

go too deep into it. I just want to highlight two verses. One

verse is one verse is verse twenty one. It says, here his Lord

say to him, well done, good and faithful servant. You were faithful

over a few things. I will make you ruler over many things. Enter

into the joy of the Lord. Give you a bit of context. So

he gave three servants one five talents, one tree talents, one one talent

for what, so that they can use it to grow to multiply. You

know, do bestir, do whatever. He didn't even specify what they should

do, right, And he gave each servant according to their ability. And

he's the master. He knows them. He knows them really well. Right.

So what happened was the five talent guy multiplied five talents one hundred percent.

Wow, if you're doing sales, are this is like really good?

Okay, the three talent multiplied a two talent multiplied two more, right,

so that's another hundred percent. But the one talent guy just buried in the

ground. Right, And if we follow the story, the master came back,

and that's what the Master said to the five talent guy. He said,

well done, my good and faithful servant. You are faithful over the

few things. I will make you ruler over many things enter into the job

the lord. Kay, question, who do you think is more power the

five talent or the two talent or one talent. Of course, all of

us here will think the five talent guy, right, because he got five

talents, so he's more power, so he deserves more. Correct. But

when you look at the response of the Master to the guy that had two

talents, he also said the lord, he's not said to him, well

done, good and faithful servant, you have been faithful over a few things.

I will make you ruler over many things enter into the job of the

lord. Huh, what come evaluation is this? Well, the way God,

or the way the Lord or the Kingdom of heaven, and says King

of Heaven is what is important to God. The way he operates is different

in the way we operate. We look at quantity. He looks at quality,

right, he looks at one hundred percent. He don't look at Oh

you got five so you better. No, he doesn't, right. And

he celebrated above them the same And what was he celebrating? Well done,

my good and faithful servant. So friends, out of this reading, can

I deduce that God didn't call us to be successful. He called us to

be faithful. He didn't call us to be successful. He called us to

be faithful. Let me give you another design, my owner, my own

reading. And do you know that if God called all of us here to

be successful, we all feel ready. I can tell you I fail because

I don't cal't myself successful because successor might mean a nicer car. I recently

in Hong Kong, everybody's driving Maseratis there. I'm like, oh, that's

a really nice car. And test last, test, last, still can

buy a Maserati? Be hard? You know that's o stick? Can you

know? Uh? Yeah, you know? We okay? If you work

really hard. I I don't drive maserati, you know, so I'm I

don't think i'm. My house is not very big, you know. Do

you know that a lot of us can fall under that category? So if

God really calls to successfuler gone, really a lot of us feel ready.

We cannot keep the sendard. But do you know that if God hold all

of us here to be faithful, all of us can hit the sender.

In fact, I think ninety percent of people here are really hit the sendard

because it's all about faithfulness, non success. You'll follow my chin not.

It's all about being faithful. Yo yo yore, you'll catch it. I

hope you'll catch it. And what he said pull us? What is God

asking you to do? What is God asking us to do? Obey?

Be faithful? All of us can? He did? God is fair?

No, I think how stress it is? None? I don't know whether

ready if if success is measured that way, do you think that God is

so cruel that he will ask us to hit something impossible? He asked us

to be faithful, faithful, right, and the way he defines success is

in our definition we think the five talent is more successful than the two talent

guy, But in God's definition, both of them are good and faithful.

What does it tell me that tells me that we shouldn't compare ourselves with someone

is God asking me to do and how I can be more fiitful to him

rather than comparing all these things, comparing how big the car we drive,

comparing you know, all these things. Let's get that perspective right first,

because if we don't get that perspective right, I can give you these five

points you be chasing after other things. But if we have the right perspective,

Wow, I think we can say the cost. I think at the

end of twenty twenty four we can say, Yep, I've achieved all the

stuff that Got asked me to achieve. Can I give you another encouragement.

Okay, sort of encouragement. Now, do you know that the bar that

the master had was very low? But paseowen. He just celebrated one hundred

percent return. Okay, one hundred percent return. Yes, but do you

know that his bar is very low, because that's why he told the last

Okay? In short, don't compare and don't covert someone else's life or

to help us stay the court as we prepare for twenty twenty four. Are

you guys? Okay? So number one focus on the lot target? What's

your target? Right? Target? And he talks about purpose you know,

important than anything else. Purpose is more important than happiness. A lot of

people are chasing after happiness in his life. But you go for the high,

you go for the happy, You go for the experience, and then

after that you look for the next experience. But do you know, once

you find your purpose, even you go through difficult time, you still stick

to your purpose because there's significance there. So what is your target? So

can we use this year on what God asks you to do? And really,

honestly, if you don't know what God has asked you to do,

then maybe it's time to ask him. Maybe it's time to pray, Maybe

it's time to read his word, go into his word? Right. I

believe, I believe, I believe that all of you here can listen to

God. That's why I believe it cannot be here that God Jesus come here

all this world, Uh hand over the plans, his plans to chough random

guys that he calls his disciples, So then next time only the church leaders

can hear God. I don't believe in that. I believe that anybody who

asks God, God will speak to them. So I'm gonna encourage you today.

Can you ask God? What, Lord? What what are you wanting

me to and my family to do this year? What are you wanting me

to do this year for you? What is it you know? Ask him?

Right? Do you know that Jesus, who was very focused on when

his father, what his father entrusted him with, even when it became very

hot, meant you twenty six thirty nine, It says he went a little

father and fell on his face and prayed, saying, Oh, my father,

if it is possible, let this cup pass from me. Nevertheless,

not as I will, but as you will. This this little scenario or

history in the Bible, Jesus was praying in the garden of Gasemone. He

was doing his devotion. You know. The other interesting thing that I've learned

through reading the Word is that before any key thing that Jesus does, he

prayed. What so, even when we encourage you to do that, Jesus

did it. Do you know that before he chose his disciples, he prayed,

He had his quiet time, he prayed, before he chose the chelve

disciples. That's what he did. Before any key event, he prayed.

So I'm like, wow, Lord, when I do it, I'm following

after you. Before any key event. This what was the key event in

this era. The key event was he was going to be betrayed by Judas.

They were going to send him to the Sanhaarin and they're going to crucify

him. It's like the biggest thing. For one hour, he prayed,

and his disciples slept outside until he had to score them. Couldn't even pray

for one hour with me, Okay, but he kept it. He said,

Oh, my father, if it's possible, let this cup pass from

me. You know, we think, oh Jesus were powerful, He's very

you know great. You know he will whether do you know that he had

second thoughts on whether he wanted to dine across words or not. He was

in the gardens, Guy SEMONI The whole one hour prayer was God, why

me? Some words have prayed? I pray before Lord? Why me?

Please let this car pass away from me? You know, someone take it

said, nevertheless, not as I will, but as you will. Not

as I will, but as you will. Friends, life it's not easy.

Life is not easy. But we've got to be faithful. We've got

to chase the right things. We've got to know what's important. Amen.

He's not easy, right, It takes effort, But thank god Jesus stuck

to his guns. If he said, okay, God, get my father

right, maybe Peter can do it. And we all know that that probably

won't happen. Even if he said, I'm sure Peter's I'm willing Lord,

but he's a simple man. Right. But thank God, Jesus followed true.

How many of us here understands that following true? I'm sure parents here

understanding. Although it's hard, you follow true, Although it's difficult you follow

true because you know what he says, sick. You know how to sacrifice,

You know how to be faithful, even though it's difficult. But focus.

See, if you have a very clear purpose, then it's easier because

you know the purpose. But when you got no purpose, when you don't

know why you're doing what you're doing, you know, sometimes even in church,

it can be that you don't know why you're doing what you're doing,

Why are you doing it because of your faith? Don't because of anything else.

it will fall and fail. But if it is built on your faith.

It's not one year. Eight years of trying to figure it out, eight

years of encouraging people, eight years of soling, eight years of different ones.

You're being fitful, and I'm sure there are set stories. So people

getting angry, people moving on is fine. God's children. God will take

care of them. But I'm sure, I'm sure God people come to Steven.

Stephen, I don't believe in it. I don't believe in this.

I don't know. I don't understand what you're doing. Got the night before

I tell you this story, I remember I had to solve like not had

Toula, you know again seeing things that God is asking you see. So

I saw similarly, like some minute I saw that there were a group of

students coming from Seggi in Kota Da Mansara to bj right. There was a

You know, campus homes a bit different. Okay, our homes was awesomeler.

I won't go through much into details. I even had one of them

thing I don't believe in it. All these just bunding thing homes. I

don't believe in it. Now look at it. Besides it's okay, you

don't need to believe in it. I will believe you. Just come and

serving in the church today. Amen, So persevere, right, persevere.

Do you know that Paul ran his race second Timothy four six eight, For

I'm already poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure

is at hand. I thought the good fight, I finished a race.

I've kept the faith. Finally there is laid up for me. The crown

of righteousness, which the Lord, the Righteous Judge, will give to me

on that day, and not to me only, but also to all who

have loved disappearing. So the Han, guys hand this year the Han?

Okay, persevere. It's tough. Persevere, amen. But you know,

of course I shared that bad things have happened. But how do you be

discourage proof? Do you know that you can be discourage proof? I mentioned

about discouragement being real. Do you know they can be discarachful? How do

you do that? Well? We can be thankful, we can be pleased.

Please do you want James one two says my brethren, county all joy

when you fall into various trials. We need to love. We need to

rejoice in persecution. Let's turn to James chapter one, and then we'll go

deeper. Amen, I guys, okay, so James chapter one vers Chapter

twenty. I hope this will really happens, he says. YEA blessed is

the man who ended your temptation. For when he has been approved, he

will receive the crown of life, which the Lord has promised to choose to

those who love him. Let no one say when he is tempted. I

am tempted by God. For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does

he himself time anyone. But each one is tempted when he's drawn away by

his own desires and entires. Then, when the desire has conceived, it

gives birth to sin, and sin, when it is full grown, brings

forth death. Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren. Every good gift

and perfect gift is from above and comes down from the Father of Lights,

with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning of his own will.

He brought us forth by the word of truth, that we might be a

kind of first ruts of his creatures. So, then, my beloved brethren,

let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to

wrath, for the wrath of man does not produce the righteousness of God.

Wow. A lot to unpack here, But I will just go something simple.

When we are under trial, when we're under challengers, do we still

love God? This tells us to love God under trials, to know that

He's still there for us, to know that when bad things happen, you

know all bad things happen. You knows because I've seen it. Friends,

can you please read this scripture. He says here, right, let no

one say when he is tempted, I am tempted by God. For God

cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he himself temp anyone. Even if

you read the Book of Job, God wasn't the one that casts all the

bad things on Job. He was the devil. Right, So we need

to have the right perspective of God because every good gift is from him,

and every perfect give is from him. And there's no variation of shadow of

turning. It's a very flowery way to just say. God won't shout change

you when you trust in him, when you follow in his ways right,

when you rely on him, he will not change short change you. But

you've got to obey and be faithful. That is our God. And if

we want to be careful, well, we've got to be swift to hear,

slow to speak, slow to wrap. You want to be at peace,

learn those things. That's something I'm learning as well. When we go

to challenges, be swift to hear, hear what not hear people talk?

You know, what do you say about Stephen? Now? But do you

please don't do that? Do you know that gossip can destroy a lot of

things. So don't don't get into that. Don't get into that. Right,

Stay to hear God, slow to speak, slow to rough, rough

means for angry la. You know. Not easy. I got tell people

before that I have an anger issue. Li since younger time, I'm learning.

I'm still learning. Right, not easy, but remember to do that.

Don't be so quick to take action when suddening happens. Learn to wait

on the Lord. Learn to go to God first before you go to men.

Right, there's something we learn here. Amen. I know I don't

have a lot of time life. Okay, so that's tree. So how

do we discouraged proof? Well? Be thankful? The Bible teaches us to

be thankful. Do you know that in your life? No matter how bad

your life is, Our guys, I believe that you can always give thanks

to God for at least one thing. Can you please focus on it one

thing. Don't compare, I just share. Don't compare. You compare.

You can compare with everybody, right, don't compare. Be thankful. Then

you won't feel so said. Actually, then you won't think that you're like

no, because you can give thanks because really, really, guys, in

life there's always someone out there there's worse than this one. Always. I'm

not saying you should compare with them, but I'm just saying that, you

know, be very very careful how you view things. Amen to more points.

What else we need to do to stay the course, Well, we

need to learn to take time outs. We need to learn to pause,

We need to learn to take time to rest and reflect. This one.

I think the more advanced people or senior people, we understand. I'm learning

that now more and more. But for those of you who are a bit

younger and you've got so much lifer, it might be harder for you because

all about go go go, or do doo doo doo, you know.

But you know, we got to learn to take a time out and reflect,

you know, not rest like or don't do anything. I'm just gonna

netflix and chill. No no, no, no, let's not ask you

to do If that helps you in the first fifteen minutes, go lad,

But after that we got to reflect. Okay, am I still staying the

cost? You know, reflection is very powerful. Don't reflect at the end

of the year, maybe you need to have rest days. You know,

even God, even God stopped at the seven day and say, Wow,

everything is good. He reflected on his word. Right, that's why we

have the Sabbath that I know the Jews keep really really really religiously, but

they don't just keep the seventh. Don't do anything it's supposed to help them

reflect Amen, some refactor, and he still say it's cast your burden on

the lot, and he shall sustain you. He shall never permit the righteous

to be moved. First feed the five five to seven says, in the

same way, you who are younger, submit yourself to your elders, all

of you yourselves with humility, to work one another. Because God opposes the

proud, but chose favor to the humble. Humble yourselves therefore under God's mighty

hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Wow, and

I love this. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

Are you anxious today? Are you worried about things? Are you worried

about how to need? It is going to be yourself? And you just

told me that all the bad things are going to happen to me. Can

you cast your anxiety on him just because he cares for you, no other

reason? Not? Sometimes we think that there's expectation. No God cares.

He is as simple as that. That's not complicate life. So if you

overcomplicate life, you know, but actually life is quite simple one amen.

Now, of course the famous scripture, come to me, all you who

labor, and I hay you laden. I will give you rests. Take

my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I'm gentle and lowly in

heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my young is

easy and my burden is like ress. I believe and I've learned. It

is very important, especially when you you know full steam ahead, right.

I always learned to take time to rest after a major thing that happened.

It's a very good to do that. Two years ago, either really major

thing that happened with my family, I'm not sure that I shared it here

about my mom, and then she passed on. And then after everything was

done, I was like, you know what, we need to go for

a family holiday. So I told my wife, my kids, my dad.

We just went to chill somewhere. It was very good because after that

we started planning and started rebuilding. You know, we need to learn to

rest when else is rest needed. Well, friends to be rare honest.

When you start falling sick, then you need to recity every time. Someone

Again, when I say fall sick, don't say oh I got COVID A

poor sick? No no no. If something you rest too much, let's

not go okay okay, not good, not good. But you again me.

If you've been working so hard and your body starts shutting down, then

you need to take a break so that you can adjust. Amen. Right,

to use this word burn out. You know I'm serving? How you know?

I mean? Sorry, I know I'm making fun of it, but

it's not so good. But I don't believe in it because I believe that

the Lord will refresh us. It's a promise in his word that he will

give us a river of living water that were our poor up or not just

feel us, but also upon the people around us. Now. So,

Leaders? If you have not been filed, what are you giving.

Don't hide behind the ministry, be ministered too. And then you give,

and then God will give you rest. He will he will give you wisdom

and when to rest. Talk to your leader. I'm sure little understand if

you need rest, right, rest is so important, and he helps us

of people complain about our health care, but I believe and because I've experienced

it, our health care is one of the best in the world. Why

why best? Because it's cheap. It's good cheap, guys. Really sounds

You know, God is doing a great work in our lives. This is

my firm belief right, he is. If you're here and you are a

believer, you have received Jesus as your personal law and savior. The Holy

Spirit is working in your life today. It doesn't matter how many years of

christian you are. It doesn't matter whether you're not you are, you have

a tittle of a pastor, it doesn't matter. The Holy Spirit is working

in your life. So work with him, go against him. Right.

The Holy Spirit is working. The Holy Spirit is perfecting you. And when

you are involved in church, when you're involved in serving, where you're involved

in all these things, there is by the way, guys on the Bible,

Bible go right or no X chapter to go ahead, read that after

the first believers got safe, what did they do right? Discipleship is big.

We believe in that here in acts, and I've seen how many people

have grown because of disciper ship. But it takes submission, It takes humility

to be discipled. Right. But the Holy Spirit is doing a work in

your lives. He's doing a great work. So don't shot change yourself,

don't be wary to do good, don't be impatient, but trust in God

and know that He's got sums for the sixth ten says be still and know

that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations. I will

be exalted in the earth. You know, the last time, when I

was younger, I don't really understand these words. Huh. Be still means

tand and do nothing? Is they God? No? You know I give

and know that I am God. I am God, I will come true,

I am God, I will heal. I am God. All these

scriptures in the Bible are promises. We can claim amen. If not now,

it's our own work. It's our own work. Still and know themn

for all deconstructing my faith. People are using that word now, you know.

I'm like, what does that mean? Jesus is the rock? Really?

What else you need to deconstruct? The Bible is here for many years.

Really, I don't understand it's so much confusion. Don't be conformed to

the world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you

may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God? Do

you know what we need to prove today to the world. The only proof

we need is that this works and Jesus is real. We don't improve anything

else. This works and Jesus is real. That is the proof. And

when our minds are renewed, and when we grow as believe us, and

when we go deeper in the world and we go deeper in our experience with

God. I tell you last time. I use gabr an example. It

is an encouraging testimony. But he knows in his heart of hearts that God

is the one that opened the door for him. Do you think anyone can

convince him otherwise? Cannot know. He knows. You can say all you

want to say, but I know God did this for me, And I
