God Turns My Mistakes Into Miracle | Pr Julian

You're listening to a message to go from acts Church. We hope this message

will light up your day. I feel God leading me to just share why

we celebrate Christmas and the meaning of Christmas, and today aptly I'm gonna I'm

gonna just share about how God turns our mistakes into miracles and how God just

transforms and turns things around in our lives. So it's gonna be pretty simple.

But God's word is powerful. Even every word from the Word of God

can bring life to us, can bring transformation, can turn things around.

So I really trust for that to happen today. Okay, So turn to

your neighbor and say, God turns my mistakes into miracles. So I want

to go straight into it, and and just read from the Word of God

today from the Book of Romans chapter five. You if you can turn to

your bibles to Romans chapter five, verses seventeen to twenty one. Romans Chapter

five versus seventeen twenty one. And I've got slides as well, so let's

put that up. Okay, noose slides yet, So everything's going well today,

amen. Romans chapter five is seventeen twenty one. But you have your

Bibles if you can from wherever you are on your phones or physical bibles,

and I'll read along Romans five seventeen. For the sin of this one man,

Adam caused death to rule over many. He made a mistake. He

caused death to rule over many. But even greater is God's wonderful grace and

his gift of righteousness, for all who received it will live in triumph over

sin and death through this one man, Jesus Christ. So one man's sin

caused death to rule over many, but another person named Jesus triumph over sin

and has given us victory. Yes, Adam's one sin brings condemnation for everyone,

but christ One act of righteousness brings a right relationship with God and new

life for everyone. Verse nineteen. Because one person disobeyed God, many became

sinners. But because one other person obeyed God, many will be made righteous.

Verse twenty. God's law was given so that all people could see how

sinful they were. But as people's sin more and more, God's wonderful grace

became more abundant. So just as sin ruled over all people and brought them

to death, now God's wonderful grace rules instead, giving us right standing with

God and resulting in eternal life through Jesus Christ, Our Lord. Amen,

let's pray. Lord, we thank you for your word. Today. Lord,

we know that despite circumstances in our lives, despite challenges, and despite

our mess, Lord, you have made away a plan to save us and

everyone. And Lord, today we look to your word. And Lord we

say we open up our eyes, we open up our hearts to you,

Holy Spirit, speak to us. Help us not to be distracted with anything

else, but be focused on you. We entrol you, Lord, in

the name of Jesus. We pray. Amen. Amen, how many if

you're glad to be in the House of God this morning? How many if

you're that is Christmas? And as there's hope in the Christmas message and as

the scripture we just read from Romans chapter five, it's amazing chapter. If

you can read Romans chapter five from the beginning to the end, it's a

great chapter. And and today you know I was I was doing my devotion

one morning, and and now now when I do my devotion, I try

to use like a physical Bible so that just in case the kids come down,

right they don't see me on my phone. Then it looks like I'm

like scrolling right, so and I don't know, just just diversion a little

bit. I have this like very very stark and what's the word, like

a memory of my dad every morning being on a coffee table with his Bible

open, having toast and coffee, and and that's sort of like it's sort

of is still in I can still see that picture today, and I think

God's been telling me, like I have to do that for my kids,

like it's a legacy that I have to live. So so I was reading

my Bible one morning and then Levi came down and then he's like, what

are you reading? I'm bringing the Bible. Then I didn't want me.

I learnt him to disturb me, right because I read I go and take

your own bible and read your Bible with me. Then he say, oh,

my bible doesn't have all the words, it doesn't have all the chapters,

which is true. I mean he's got a kids Bible with pictures.

So he wanted to read me. And we read Romans chapter five, and

and he was and he was asking me about this part of scripture. And

I think even kids can understand that we all make mistakes and we all go

through periods in our lives where it may not even be our fault, but

challenging times, mistakes, messes, models, complex situations that we can't really

pinpoint what the problem is. And this scripture tells us that God has a

plan to just transform all that, to turn things around, to make it

better, even in those situations. So that's what I want to talk about

today, And that is why Jesus came down, that is why he paid

the price for our sins. Right, So let's just go into that.

We are all human, we are all sinful in nature. We are you

know, let's Romans tree to any tree, if you can go there,

Roman, tree to any tree, go down. Yeah, Romans three to

any three. I mean you all know this, for all has sin and

fall short of the glory of God. And I'm so glad it doesn't stop

that verse twenty three, But verse twenty four says, and all are justified

freely by His grace to the redemption that came by Christ Jesus, Romans five

seventeen. So what we just read, for the sin of this one man,

Adam caused death to rule over many. So we all have sin,

we all are in different difficult situations. And God's plan is to turn our

mistakes into miracles, is to turn our sin into salvation, to turn our

heart into healing, to turn our morning into dancing, to turn our sorrow

into joy, to turn darkness into light. He does not want us to

stay in that mess, right, and he has a plan. And my

question this morning is how does God turn it around? How does God turn

it around? So this is a process which I want to just bring us

through this morning. And I've got four yes for you today, four s

s with an s yeah, not really let yeah? What else could he

be? I don't know. How does God turn it around? How does

God turn it around? And my first thought and my first word for all

of us today is the word see the first God sees, God sees.

That'spellally correct. Yeah, I did right, God sees, God sees,

God hears, God knows we are not alone in our mess, all right.

So Adam, the first person that God created on earth, brought sin

to everyone, right and and when that happened, can go to the next

light. Yep. So after Adam, syn got this illustration, after Adam

saying what happened was they hit from God? Both Adam and Eve, and

they were trying to they realized that guilt, they realized that shame they hit

from God. But we see that the Lord then called out to them.

He asked this question, where are you? But actually he really knows where

they are right. But the fact is he was looking out. He was

trying to go down into their position, into their mess, into their mistake,

to be there with them. So that's my first point, God sees

I want to share another story about how this person called Hagar Hagar in the

Bible. And if you know Abraham and Sarah, there was Abram and Sarah

before they would name renamed Abraham and Sarah. There was a third person in

the picture and her name was Hagar. And you can go on to the

next lighte. Hagar is a person that I wouldn't want to be in a

position. I don't want to ever wish to be her. Right. If

you know Hagar Hagar is this this this picture of a lady. She looks

quite nice holding a baby. But Hagar is was dragged into a situation where

she did not ask to be dragged in. So Abraham and Sarah, God

promised them a son right and they of old age, and they were trying

to figure out how is God going to provide and give and accomplish and meet

that promise? Right. So, man, in our own way, sometimes

we think, God, this situation isn't getting any better. I need I

need to make it work. I'm gonna intervene into this situation and using my

own creative mind and using my own process and my opinions, I'm going to

try and make it work. And Hagar was just a mistress or a servant

to Sarah, and she was asked to be married to Abraham, right and

therefore conceived of a son, because Sarah couldn't give birth and the promise couldn't

be fulfilled, so she didn't ask to be in a situation. But after

after Abraham and Hagar got together, right, that's how babies are made.

And uh, she was she she was expecting a baby, right, And

she made one mistake actually, because after she was expecting a baby, she

became proud and she sort of like this her mistress or her master, which

was Sarah. And this caused Sarah to be like angry. It's like,

Abraham, come on, you know you asked you you led me in through

the situation. Now this person, hegar hates me. She's dissing me.

What do I do? And then Abraham says, you know, she's your

servant, do as you wish. And so they sent her away and she

went into the desert. So I don't know why she went to the desert.

Maybe there's only desert around, you know, Abraham's house. But like

if you're expecting and you're pregnant, and the worst place you want to go

to a desert, right, there's no water, there's no food. So

she was really caught in between a rock and a hard place. And the

whole story is in Genesis chapter six, sixteen, so you can read that.

But I want to bring you to a few scriptures because when she was

in the desert, when she was in a mistake that someone else put her

in, and she also sort of caused by herself. This is what happened.

Let's go to Let's go to the next Like the Angel of the Lord

found Hagar beside a spring of water in the wilderness. So she was there

alone, she was there in distress, she was in a dire situation.

But God found her in that wilderness, and God when looking for her,

the Angel of the Lord when and found her in the spring of water in

the wilderness, just like how God went through the garden of Eden looking for

Adam and Eve to restore them, to bring them back in their model.

And the Angel also said, you are now pregnant and will give birth to

a son. You are to name him Ishmael. And this is the meaning

God hears. God hears, for the Lord has heard your cry of distress.

So the mess were in, the mistakes that we may have, or

the situations we are in. I want to say today that God sees,

and he hears, and he goes to us, he pursues us. Hega

also say this, and this this is quite unique because this is the only

recorded situation in a Bible where someone gives a name to God. Right and

Hega said this, you are the God who sees me. She also said,

have I truly seen the one who sees me? She gave God the

name the person who sees me, who notices me in the situation. So

God sees, God sees, And I want to encourage us with that because

sometimes in our situation we feel like we're alone, we feel like no one

fully understands what we're going through, and the challenges that we have. And

it all starts by acknowledging and saying and looking to God that God, yes

you hear me, you see me, You see the situation that I mean,

you see the mistake that I've made. And and you know, as

as the kids, right like we we often we often I mean as a

parent, now I see Lah right when they make a mistake, they run

away somewhere and keep quiet. Right, So like Micah is a classic classic

mistake maker. You know he will he will. So we have this rule

where you you cannot eat too much sweets because it's unhealthy, right, I

mean, like, I mean make sense. I don't know why kids don't

understand that, but even this morning they ate sweets. It is so so

so Micah would would when we are not looking, we're not around, he

would go to the fridge. He will find a pair of seasons somewhere.

Grab it. Go to the fridge, look for jelly. I don't know,

people always give a sweets. So like you don't want to buy suits,

like here you find jelly. He will cut it open. He will

run to a corner somewhere and he will like enjoy himself. You'll enjoy himself.

Then you're like, he's been he's been quiet for ten minutes. Where's

my car? Then we call out my car? Where are you? Actually?

We know where I see love, because you know, there's only so

many places you get hide in the house. So like God saying, ad

and where are you? And and we go looking and we and I see

trails of evidence as I walk. So he cuts the jelly right, he

leaves the top here, and he cuts the jelly, lifts the top here.

And I've seen how many packets he's actually eaten. And then some of

them he cuts, and he doesn't like cut it properly, so he doesn't

cut the tip off. But you know, so he just throws the whole

packet down, and you know it's you cannot open anymore. Then I'll ask

him, what have you done? What have you done? It's not like

I don't know, So by trying to ask him, I want him to

admit. Uh, I said, oh, I don't know, just sitting

down here or and and and we try to hide what's wrong with us or

what's wrong the situation from everyone else. But that doesn't make anything better.

That doesn't make anything better. So we need to start today, if we're

in a situation that's not right or difficult or challenging, or even if it's

our mistake, I think we need to acknowledge that God sees. God knows,

he sees us, He knows our situations, he knows the challenges,

and he has a plan. Amen. That's the first ass what's the first

ass see God sees. That's as is my son's favorite word, Shalom shalom.

Yeah, Levi is learning ju Hebrew, so he's not a Jew,

but he's learning Hebrew. Here we go Isaiah nine, verse six. And

this scripture is the scripture we always quote during Christmas. For a child is

born to us, a son is given to us, the government will rest

on his shoulders, and he will be called wonderful counselor Mighty God, everlasting

Father, Prince of peace, Prince of Shaloom. And there's so much we

can unpack from just the scripture, but I want to just focus on that

last name, which the Bible says he shall be called. He shall be

called Prince of peace, Prince of peace, Shalom. So let's dive a

little bit deeper into what shalom means today. Okay, is the Hebrew word

of peace. Okay. So again, if you study the Bible, the

Old Testament is written in Hebrew and the New Testament is written in Greek,

and in Greek is pronounces erine erine okay. So so the Hebrew word and

the meaning of peace can be used also to use to say hello. So

if you if you ever meet a Jewish person, which is very rare in

Malaysia because they're not a lot in this country, but they will say shalom

to say hi. Right, But it's got a very deep meaning and in

in in the word peace as we know it. Basically when we say peace

means the absence of war. So I have peace with my mother in law,

so I'm not I'm not fighting with my mother in law, right,

which doesn't happen at all in my family. Right, So I mean,

you're gonna bring the wife in, you know, to the sermons here and

there by promise I've got not much stories with Laura today, So that's why

that's why you're not laughing much today. But the peace peace means absence of

war or hostility, our absence of circumstances, right, so you know I've

got a very peaceful life means no challenges, you know, it's all good,

or you know how things going. You say peace, you know so

so that that's what peace on the surface means in English. But the word

shallow or has a deeper meaning, and what it means is universal flourishing,

soundness, well being, wholeness, delight, oneness with God. So when

we say shallow, right, it is deeper in the sense where everything is

right, everything is whole, everything is restored, and God Jesus, when

he was sent to us, brings us that wholeness and restoration in our life.

Okay, so I've got some pictures for you so that you don't fall

asleep today. This is a picture of a rock with cracks in it.

See you can see the cracks, right, So this is not Shalom,

not Shallom. What does Shalom look like? Next picture, So there's like

a perfect piece of rock, smooth, no cracks, one hundred percent.

Okay, so this is Shallom. Right. Look another one. This is

a break wall with like holes in it. Uh, you probably could see

through it. It's not structurally fully sound, right, So this is not

Shallom. And what does Shalom look like like a perfect break wall? So

that's just to help us to understand a little bit deeper of what shalom is.

It can also be used as like Job in a Bible, when Job

said, my house and my tent is in a state of shalom, right,

so meaning all his animals, all his property, all his children are

accounted for, is in good running condition. It's in a state of shalom,

so it's all is well. Like how I like my house to be

in a state of shalom before I sleep, And I cannot sleep, so

I go down and like sort everything out, especially after Christmas parties. But

all I welcome, I don't know I say that, or or like if

if someone if I mean now this, we don't have animals, right,

But if in back in the in in those days when your animal or your

your cow goes into a neighbor's house and like destroys their property, so you

have to shallom that person by making good right, so you restore to them

what was broken, and then we have shallom again. So it's basically not

just the lack of war or the absence of circumstances, but it's a state

where we are one with God, one with each other, right, so

that shallom. Okay, I want to I want to just go to the

next line. I want to just say that how do we apply this in

our lives? When? When when life is complicated? So life or even

communities or church is complex. It's full of different parts working together. Right,

It's like a complex car. Sometimes things break down, we make mistakes,

parts don't work well together, and life needs to be restored. Life

needs to be restored. So Jesus came to bring shalom to us. He

brings restoration and peace to a mess and mistics. So that is God's promise.

I think we need to remember that when we are in the middle of

a challenge, like how Jason has been preaching about. We got a goal,

we want to get there. It's going to be a journey, but

it's not going to be straightforward. That's going to be challenges. So when

in the middle of this situation, how do we understand what God wants for

us? We need to first remember that He sees us, he knows our

situation, and also he has promised pisce, peace and restoration in our situation.

Okay, I'll bring it true to more scriptures. One is from Romans

chapter five, verse one the same chapter you read earlier. The first verse

says this, Therefore, since we have been made right in God's side by

faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ, our Lord,

has done for us. He's made us write and we have peace in

him. Next scripture from the Book of John fourteen twenty seven. And I

love this, Jesus say this peace I leave with you My peace. I

give to you. Not as the world gives, do I give to you.

Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. This

piece that God offers us, this restoration, this charlom. It's not like

what the world can offer. And we can say that we won't be troubled,

will not be afraid. What kind of peace is the world offer?

Temporary? Yeah, so, like if you think about it, you buy

insurance right to have peace on mind that if something happens, we are we've

got to cover it right. But even that it's temporary and circumstantial. What

if one day, you know, that insurance company goes bus so like you

know, then what happens. Who's going to come to our rescue when we

have an accident? The peace that the world offers which we can thank God

for in our lives, you know, in our situations right now. But

the piece that the world world offers is circumstance. And show this temporary,

by God's peace, he's to eternity. It never fails. And I want

to just show you a picture of someone. This person's name is Nicholas Ridley.

He's from way back, that's why they only have h a drawing of

him. But who he is is he's a Bishop of London. So he's

a person that basically is the leader of a church right in our current contexts.

And Nicholas Really was burned at the stakes. He was executed for his

beliefs. He was executed for his faith. And I want to just read

this portion. Nicholas Really, former Bishop of London, was burned at the

stake in Oxford because of his belief And the night before his execution, his

brother offered to remain with him in the prison chamber to be of assistance and

comfort. So this the night before he was about to be killed. And

I can't imagine his prayer request that night, like God, save me.

I've done what you call me to do. I've been obedient. Don't let

me die. Tomorrow right, And sometimes we walk in God's promises without seeing

our answers, our prayers answered. But we can still have that peace.

This is why. But Nicholas declined the offer, So his brother wanted to

be with him in prison. But Nicholas declined the offer and replied that he

meant to go and sleep quietly in peace as he ever did in his life

because he knew the peace of God. He could rest in strength after the

everlasting arms of his Lord to meet his need. So how can we have

peace even in situations like this, like how can this person Nicholas really be

respond to this situation where it's like the worst possible thing that can happen to

someone and still say I don't need another person with me because I've got a

peace of God in my life. Right. So let's go back to John

fourteen twenty seven. Peace I leave with you my peace. I give to

you, not as the world gives. Do I give to you. Let

not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. And that's why

in Philippines four six, he also says, do not worry about anything.

Instead, pray about everything. Tell God that you need, Tell God what

you need and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience

God's peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will God your

hearts and mind as you live in Christ Jesus, that peace that shalom surpasses

understanding in our lives. Amen. Yeah, I've got two more asses.

And so the first one is God sees, He knows our situations, he

hears our cry, and he promises shallom. He promises peace, He promises

restoration even when the process is still right in the middle of it, even

when the situations don't seem like it's getting better. That's God's promise peace.

And the third ass is God saves. So I'm gonna preem the team that

you can be ready to get up soon as we sort of close off this

time, the third is safe and we all notice because Jesus is our savior,

he has done it all for us. So again, Romans chapter five,

verse eighteen. Yes, Adams, one sin brings condemnation for everyone,

but Christ christis one act of righteousness brings a right relationship with God and new

life for everyone. Because one person disobeyed God, many became siness. But

because one other person obeyed God, many will be made righteous. The mistakes

that we have, God can turn it around to be a miracle. He

turns it around to restore our situations. He turns it around to bring salvation.

He turns it around to take away our heart and bring healing Romans five

twenty one. So just as sin ruled over all people and brought them death,

now God's full grace rules him staate, giving us right standing with God

and resulting in eternal life. True Jesus Christ, our Lord. So that's

the third as God saves. And I want to assure you today that God

still saves, that God still saves. He still brings restoration, he still

brings salvation, he still brings healing in our lives. And not only does

he say he also brings us into sonship with him. He also brings us

and adopts us into his family Ephesians one five. God decided in advance to

adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ.

This is what he wanted to do and gave it and gave him great pleasure.

So when we are saved, we can now be called sons. And

what does what does being called a son mean. What does being adopted in

God's family mean? It basically means that we have that authority. We have

that standing, We have that position in this life and into eternity. Come

on, guys, we have that authority, We have that authority, standing

position, We have that faith. We have that power to say to every

situation, to stand in faith, to pray for others, to say,

even in our own lives, that God rules and no circumstance, no person,

no problem, no sickness, is greater than Him because He's a God

that turns things around. I mean, we hope you've been blessed by this
