You're listening to a message to go from EX Church. We hope this message
-
will light up your day. The title of God's message for us today is
-
obey that all may know. Okay, So we know that the theme that
-
God has given X Church for twenty twenty four years, that all may know.
-
That's right. And so God has been speaking to me even through my
-
own personal life on this theme. And there are many ways that all may
-
know, and so this is one of the ways. But it's definitely a
-
key and important way as well. Obey they all may know. Okay.
-
Let's go on to the next part. So growing up in high school now,
-
I studied in Convent jb anyone from Convent jb Here Scola Menahkabangsa and Infant
-
Jesus Convent Joho Barru Jalan yahyah. I still remember I did my primary and
-
my secondary school. There any convent girls, yeah, iven not from jb
-
Okay convent from where Alo Gaja I'm Bleaca Bato gadja okay. But Paya Batu
-
gadja para okay. Yes, Souline convent girl Alva Maria Epoh. Yes,
-
that's famous, super famous, they say along a lot of languages come from
-
there and whoo ooh, that's what my friend from people from something used to
-
tell me. He's a guy like oh Alva Maria ray lang and ray lang
-
yeah still lang right south Lan. There's like soap lang sock lang. Okay.
-
Yeah. So I I studied in convent for my primary and my secondary
-
school. Uh and in high school we were all made to sort of like
-
try out different sports to play. Uh And so I landed up in softball.
-
Yeah, not volleyball, not netball, not key, but softball.
-
Anybody know what softball is? Anybody you've played softball before? Okay, don't
-
be shy, okay, okay, Gabriel alright, nant Lorena Okay, so
-
softball. So yeah, so I landed up playing for my school in the
-
for my school softball team. All right. Softball is not a softball,
-
Okay, it's a misnomer. It's a misnomer. Uh So. Softball is
-
something like baseball where basically you've got two teams and then one is a betting
-
team, one is a fielding team, all right, And so there's going
-
to be a team that will, you know, pitch the ball and then
-
you're supposed to bet it then there's the catcher behind, and you're supposed to
-
run you know, the bases like a diamond and your goal is to you
-
know, score a point by running one week round and hitting home again.
-
So so I played in my school softball team. Uh, and I actually
-
became the vice captain and I played the catcher role. Yeah, Gabriel or
-
your catcher picture. Wow, Okay, I know, Gabriel catch you Gabriel
-
pitch and then Lorena catch. That's the way it goes, right you you
-
true, you're fishing rod. And then she took the bait, right,
-
she caught the bad Yeah. Anyways, Yeah, so that's softball. Okay.
-
I played for my school and in my school softball team, I had
-
a good friend and her name was called Ching Ching, and she was the
-
captain. She was the pitcher, so normally someper I don't know why,
-
there's a certain chemistry between the pitcher and the catcher. And she was the
-
captain. I was the wise captain, and we were good friends. We
-
played for five years for our school softball team. I know I don't look
-
the part right now. Oh but thanks for pregnancy and ash. But yeah,
-
so I used to play a lot of sports and then but also we
-
were good friends. We were not only in the same softball team for our
-
school, but we were in the same sports team. Yeah. So we
-
were from Saint Michael's, the yellow color team. Yeah. And we were
-
in the same class for five years. We were. Yeah, so we
-
were pretty much, you know, in a lot of the same things.
-
Like uh, and so she we if you put us together, we would
-
kind of make up. Maybe you will call that perfect all around the student
-
because she was she was like the school sportswoman and she was she was like
-
the schools you know, socialite. Yeah, and I was blessed in studies
-
and I was also leading our prefectorial board. So you put both of us
-
together, you get really, you know, someone who's going studies, in
-
sports, in prefects, in social everything. Yeah. So we were almost
-
like you know, like, yeah, that two halves brought together that whole
-
student. So we were good friends and after high school we she went our
-
own separate ways. Okay. The one thing that was different about us was
-
I had the privilege to know Christ earlier, so growing up I actually had
-
the privilege to go to church and to grow in faith with our lot Jesus
-
but her on the other hand, she had a different faith at that time.
-
So after for five my family moved to Malacca from JB and I came
-
up to KO to study A levels in Sunway College and that's how I later
-
came to ACTS and the rest is history. So changing. On the other
-
hand, she went to Singapore. So there was a common trend with all
-
my JB friends, most of them will actually study in Singapore more than KL.
-
So I was kind of like one of the few odd ones out.
-
But I came up because my family was moving up north, so it made
-
more sense for me to be in KL rather than Singapore, and she went
-
to So we both went our own ways after from five and we kind of
-
got busy with life and we kind of lost touch. And then down the
-
road years later, I heard from a mutual friend that her mom had actually
-
passed away in a tragic car accident. So the mom was visiting her in
-
Singapore when she was still studying in college or UNI, and while the mom
-
was crossing the road, there was a careless driver that came her way and
-
accidentally hit her. Yeah, and it was a it was a really bad
-
accident that you know, she she passed away. So there was really very,
-
very shocking and saddening for me to hear and to even say it out
-
now. I honestly I do feel it still when I have to say it
-
out. But so that happened, and I felt, you know, to
-
reconnect with Jing Ching at that point in time when I heard this really tragic
-
news, but I didn't. I couldn't bring myself to reconnect with her because
-
we were already out of touch for a number of years and I just felt
-
like, hmmm, it's a bit you know, like awkward to suddenly get
-
back in touch. Yeah, So anyway, I left it at that.
-
And if you ask me if I could turn back time, you know,
-
this would be one of the regrets that I would like to live out differently,
-
that if I could turn back time, I would have liked to reconnect
-
with her at that point in time. But I didn't. I mean,
-
I was also going through my own journey of you know, growing up and
-
faith as well, So I didn't because I felt shy, like, oh,
-
I haven't been in touch with her then suddenly reconnect with her, you
-
know, to send up my condolences, And yeah, I felt like it
-
might have been a bit awkward, so I just left it at that.
-
Then two years ago, two years ago, in twenty twenty two, I
-
had a dream about Ching Ching. And I remember this was one of our
-
SBO retreats. Yeah, and oh no, no no sorry, this wasn't
-
in one of Spuil trees. This was before that. So I had a
-
dream about her. And in that dream, I dreamt that she was with
-
me in kl but in reality she's actually in Singapore, okay, And I
-
dreamt that I in that dream, I was trying to invite her to come
-
to ext church with me. Yeah, and then she said okay in the
-
dream, and then the dream ended. So that was my first dream of
-
Ching Ching after twenty years. And then I again I felt the nuche to
-
reconnect with her after that first dream. And guess what I didn't. I
-
know, unbelievable, right. I think most of you would have la,
-
but I didn't. I didn't wire because again I felt shy. I felt
-
like, man, I have been so out of touch with Ching Jing.
-
Maybe that dream was just a coincidence. You know, it'll be awkward for
-
us to get in touch again after so many years, twenty years, never
-
mind, God I'll sit on it. So I did not reconnect with her
-
at that point. Yeah, I told some of your right, I'm just
-
gonna wash my dirty linen out here. Two years ago or two years ago,
-
I was leader in ex church. I'm supposed to be, you know,
-
fairly matured in my faith. But yet you know I still, yeah,
-
didn't obey God at that point. Okay, then, but God,
-
it's so good. You know, we can be like stubborn meals before him,
-
but he's so kind to always give us chance after chance after chance.
-
So I don't know who I'm speaking to. Maybe someone here. God is
-
calling you to obey him in something with someone. Don't be like me,
-
Okay, obey him at first call. Don't be like me, you know,
-
reject first time, second time. Now, let's see. Then a
-
few months later I had another dream about Chinching. This time the dream showed
-
me a little bit more about her life. So in that dream I was
-
in I was down south either is it felt like a JBL. So the
-
first dream she was in KL. The second dream, I was in JB.
-
The first dream it was daytime, the second dream it was nighttime.
-
So the second dream I was in JB. It was nighttime and I was
-
driving a car and I was actually bringing Chin Chin to church at night in
-
jb okay, and we were talking in the car. And then as we
-
were talking, I felt le to ask her how is your marriage? And
-
she took a while to respond to me, but she said, actually,
-
my marriage isn't doing good now. Just to backtrack a little, I know
-
her husband because we were all the same group of friends that went to Tusian
-
together. Yeah, so I knew a husband. Uh so. And and
-
and when I you know, follow her on like social media, I see,
-
Oh, they actually ended up, you know together, and they they
-
got married, they have a kid. I'm like, wow, this is
-
such a like a per fact fairy tale, you know. Yeah, child
-
sweethearts ending up together and I hope they live happily ever after. But in
-
my in my dream, she said that she was actually struggling in her marriage.
-
And then the dream ended. So this was like the third time I
-
felt a nudge from the Holy Spirit reconnect with Ching Ching and thank god I
-
did. This time. I could not ignore God's nutch anymore. It was
-
just such a strong feeling like I had to reconnect with her. So I
-
found a way to reconnect with her. I used Messenger and I, you
-
know, I reached out to her, and it took a while for her
-
to respond. So I was like, oh, man, you know,
-
what is she thinking? You know and all but lo and behold she was
-
actually traveling out of the country. Yeah, the story. She took time
-
to respond, so it still tested my faith, right, but when she
-
responded, it blew my mind away. So I started by like, hey,
-
you know, high Chiaching. I know it's been so many years since,
-
you know, we've been in touch, and how are you doing.
-
I just want to let you know that I've been having dreams about you and
-
I feel that, you know, it's time for us to reconnect. And
-
she responded very very openly, positively, and she said, okay, let's
-
take this offline. So we exchange our numbers and we continue our conversation on
-
WhatsApp, and so we were texting each other, chatting, and I chared
-
with her about the dreams. I say, oh, this is the first
-
dream I had about you, and in this dream, this was what happened.
-
And then I was supposed to actually get in touch with you then,
-
but I didn't. I'm so sorry. Then, I had a second dream
-
and this was what happened in the dream, and I felt I could not
-
ignore this anymore. I had to just get in touch with you right now.
-
And she responded saying that I cannot believe your dreams because it is exactly
-
what I'm going through right now. Two things, One, she says,
-
I have been going to church, but it's just off and on. Yeah,
-
I'm not really regular. And the second thing was that my marriage is,
-
you know, struggling. Even as I am typing right now, we
-
are actually in the midst of getting a divorce. Yeah, And so she
-
broke down. She broke down, and I just say, changing is really
-
not me, It's really God, because I have no idea what's going on
-
in your life. It can only be got to show me what you're going
-
through and leading me to reconnect with you, because you know, he loves
-
you, and he's going to give you the strength to go through what you
-
have to go through, and he's a great plan for you. And she
-
just broke down, and yeah, So I supported her in that time as
-
she went through the divorce, prayed with her, you know, just support
-
her, encouraged her. And then yeah, at the time, she still
-
hasn't accepted Christ yet. Yeah. So then there was twenty twenty two towards
-
the end, and twenty twenty three came. We got busy with life.
-
Twenty twenty three was a very busier for me. I don't know about you
-
guys, but men just flew by like that for her as well, and
-
so we weren't in touch much in twenty twenty three. Then twenty twenty four
-
came, and you know, so we have our monthly Saturday X leadership trainings
-
and all the leaders here will know what I'm talking about. So once a
-
month, the first Saturday of every month usually we will come together for a
-
time of training, whether it's decentralized in church plants or combined once every quarter
-
or something like that. And leaders, you remember we had an opening a
-
warmer activity during our AsSalt training. What was that all about? Can you
-
remember? Text someone? Yeah, and offer a prayer to that. But
-
of course before all that, pray first, lack so pray yeah, listen
-
obey, So I was facilitating the last salt and so yeah, So together
-
with our leaders in X Cyberjaya, we took time to pray and then to
-
listen to God who you want us to text in our phone book, and
-
we actually did it. So I knew that there were follow up actions to
-
that first opening activity because I was facilitating it. So I knew that that
-
if I were to choose this person, I have to be able to have
-
a conversation with this person that I text and I pray for down the road,
-
and during that conversation too, you know, stir up their curiosity for
-
God and hopefully lead them to Christ. So with all these expectations, right,
-
I tried to think of people close to me. I was thinking of
-
the staying next to me. I was thinking of the other neighbors staying down
-
the road. You know. I was trying to go logical, like God,
-
If I'm supposed to have a deep conversation right with that person that I
-
text, it should be someone close by. Lah makes sense mon that I
-
can meet up at a young child, you know, and and talk.
-
So her name actually came to my mind. First, I pushed it aside.
-
I tried to think of the anti that person, and then her name
-
came back again, So I knew I had to obey. You know,
-
when God shows you something more than once, you better take notree of it,
-
whether you're awake or you're asleep, okay. And so I was like,
-
okay, God, I don't know how this is going to work out.
-
She's in Singapore, I'm here, but I'm just going to obey you.
-
Lah. So I texted Ching Ching at the start of our assought training
-
Saturday afternoon, and towards the end of the training, I checked my phone
-
and she actually answered me. Before the training ended, I knew, like
-
a few leaders had to ask our leaders like, hey, how many of
-
you you're You're the person you texted actually responded to you, and a lot
-
of the leaders in our group actually say, hey, that person that I
-
texted has responded to me. This was before SALT had actually ended. So
-
when I saw her message before the end assault, she said, Jill,
-
I cannot believe you're texting me again. I'm really going through a tough time
-
at work right now as we speak, to the point that I'm thinking of
-
leaving my job. And so then we got the conversation going. You know,
-
even after SALT, I continue to converse with her and I showed her
-
I will keep you in prayer, and the next day she felt led to
-
go to church, so back track a little bit. She has been before
-
this, she believed she had a different faith. And in the last maybe
-
one or two years, she's been visiting church once in a while, once
-
in many months, and each time that the church and singer throughout the Salvation
-
call at the end of the service, which I'm glad they do just like
-
us an as she would always find it very, very tough to respond.
-
She would always be fighting with God because her mom passed away earlier in an
-
accident, and she she couldn't understand why God would take someone so precious away
-
from her. Yeah, and so she's been struggling to actually give a heart
-
to God. So that Sunday, the very next day after that salt in
-
January, she went to church. She felt led to go. I didn't
-
ask her to go, nobody asked her to go. But it was the
-
Holy Spirit that drew her to him. And when she went to church that
-
Sunday morning in Singapore, she really felt like the word from an unknown,
-
unfamiliar preacher to her was speaking to her life that very point. Every word
-
she said whole it was so spot on for whatever I'm going through. It's
-
like this person knows exactly what I'm going through and what I need, and
-
she was just in tears. She broke down in God's presence in his house,
-
and at the end of that service, she decided to give her life
-
to Jesus. Praise God. Wow, God, I'm still stunned until now.
-
And she and when she came back, she she Coqulick get texted me
-
and said, Jill, you know what. I ran to church this morning.
-
The word really spoke to me. I cried my heart out and I
-
decided to give my life to Jesus. And she shared with me on why
-
she decided to give her life to Jesus. At that very point, she
-
said, you know, I've been struggling the past one or two years when
-
I visited church because I just couldn't understand why God would take my mom away
-
from me. But the fact that you, he kept sending you to my
-
life over and over again at my lowest points, showed me that He's real
-
and he cares for me. And that's why I decided to give my life
-
to Jesus, because He's showed me his love through you. And I was
-
really encouraged. Uh and and and and now I am so I mean trying
-
to help her grow in her faith, to help her to pray, to
-
help her to read the Bible. You know, I use the thinger it's
-
so easy to just tell a new believer, ah, you just read the
-
Bible online full stop. Man. So I learned that with my friend,
-
right, I had to actually show her. Okay, this is the app
-
to download. I to screenshot the Bible app on my phone. This is
-
the app to download in your app store or play store. That I thought
-
she can find her way, and I say, okay, you read the
-
Book of Martha's in a New Testament. Yeah, it's a simple book to
-
understand the life of Jesus and his teachings. But she couldn't find a book
-
of Mark. So I had to screenshot every step of the way of the
-
Bible app. Okay, this is the first opening page. Then you click
-
on this type errow, you go to the next page. You click on
-
that type circle, then you go to that page. Really wow, it
-
was It was very actually eye opening for me to walk a really new believer
-
through even using the Bible app, which she takes so much for granted.
-
So did that with her, and then we're still in touch, you know,
-
and I'm looking for a Bible for her, a hard copy one.
-
I say, can I would you allow me to give to you a Bible?
-
And she's said, yes, definitely, there will be a great privilege.
-
And so I'm in the midst of looking for a very nice, suitable,
-
yeah, hard copy Bible for her. And next month I'm actually going
-
down to Singapore because Expo has invited our linette team to do a training with
-
their leaders, and I'm going to speak at the Sunday service. And I
-
say, changing, I'm coming down. I've got to see you, and
-
she says, yeah, I've got to see you too. In fact,
-
she was thinking of flying up to kl just to see me as well,
-
because there's so much to catch up and you know, past, present,
-
future in the Lord, right, and so yeah, this is really a
-
fresh testimony out of the oven over twenty years of our lives. But you
-
know, God is able, and from this story, I'm going to share
-
with you for learning points. And they're all beginning with the letter oh,
-
because we're talking about obey, right, yeah, so to help us to
-
remember easier. Okay, today's learning points are all in oh. Everybody says,
-
oh not oh, And there's a different Oh. Okay, So drawing
-
from today's story and also title, the learning points are going to be drawn
-
from the life of Abraham. Abraham. Okay. Now, the first all
-
is origin. Everyone say origin, Okay, Origin? Where do we start?
-
You know? Sometimes we think that the salvation of our friends, our
-
family, our love ones have got to always start with us. I must
-
start thinking of this person. I must start feeling for this person. I
-
must start praying and interceding for this person. I must start doing something to
-
reach out. Then only God will begin the salvation process for my love one.
-
I've got it's got to start with me, like I've got to think,
-
I got to feel, I've got to pray, ive got to do.
-
Then God will start working in the person's life. But I'm here to
-
tell you that the origin of every person's salvation, journey and story does not
-
begin with us. Yes, it begins with God. God is the author
-
and the finisher of every salvation. And my story to me pros this to
-
me because honestly, I wasn't thinking about changing salvation in the last twenty over
-
years. Maybe in high school I did when we were you know, together,
-
playing softball together, hanging out together, good friends together. I would
-
pray for my friends like Lord, you know. Yeah, But I cannot
-
also remember whether I prayed for her by name or I just love her together
-
with everyone else in my life who doesn't know Jesus, I cannot. I
-
cannot remember for the life of me, and after high school, until this
-
past few years. Honestly, her name has not come to my mind to
-
pray for salvation. I prayed for many, many other peop salvations, but
-
not hers. So I cannot claim that the origin of her salvation starts with
-
me. And I'm glad that I have no right to claim the origin of
-
her salvation because the right belongs to God. So I want to encourage you
-
that don't feel pressured to have to start someone's salvation journey or story. Leave
-
it to God. He's the one who press a start button, and along
-
the way he will use us, Okay. So I want to encourage us.
-
Don't don't feel pressured that. You know, for people in your life
-
to get saved is always got to be you. I know, in a
-
natural we carry many roles dad's, you know, moms. You know,
-
just even being a single, young working adult, you know, a Grandma
-
a lot of responsibilities for on our shoulder, and sometimes we tend to live
-
the spiritual like the natural or in the natural, everyone is depending on me
-
to start something, to initiate something, to get something going. So in
-
the spiritual I think it's also the same. But you know, the spiritual
-
doesn't follow the natural. The natural follows the spiritual. So really salvation does
-
not begin with us. It originates with God. And I'm going to show
-
you in Genesis chapter twelve, verse one to three. Let's all turn to
-
Genesis chapter twelve, verse one to three. If you have your Bibles,
-
whether e or hard copy. If not, then look at my screen.
-
But I want to get this, you know, into a regular habit of
-
even turning to our own Bibles so you can make sure I'm saying the right
-
thing. Ah, don't just take my word for it, okay. So
-
Genesis chapter twelve, verse one to three. Now the Lord has said to
-
Abraham, get out of your country, from your family and from your father's
-
house, to a land that I will show you. I will make you
-
a great nation. I will bless you and make your name great, and
-
you shall be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and
-
I will curse him who curses you, and in you all the families of
-
the earth shall be blessed. Amen. So this is a very famous portion
-
of scripture. It's basically the start of the Jewish nation, and it's also
-
the start of our faith actually in the Lord Jesus Christ. And also a
-
lot of missionaries also, you know, use this verse for their lives because
-
it's also a missions call as well. Now I want to draw eyes to
-
yeah this day on this slide. First, okay, I want to show
-
you that salvation is God's idea. He's the one who originates it, not
-
us. Now I want us to look at two words on this slide.
-
Sorry I didn't underline or highlight, but look at the word families or it
-
means family, and the word blessed, blessed. Okay. Now, the
-
word family here doesn't just mean family like father, mother, children, grandpa,
-
grandma, auntie, uncle. It's more than that. When we study
-
the meaning of the word families here in it's root word in Hebrew, it
-
actually means nations, nations. Okay, So that it brings you to a
-
bigger picture, right, It says and in you, all the nations of
-
the earth shall be blessed. Now, word does the word blessed here mean?
-
The word blessed here we study in its original Hebrew meaning. One of
-
the meanings is actually what am I doing? Now? The word blessed means
-
to kneel down? To kneel down because as a receiver of the blessing,
-
the blessing is so heavy for you to carry that you got to kneel down,
-
put it on the ground. It's too much for you to carry.
-
So as a recipient of God's blessing, his blessing overtakes us. That's one
-
interpretation. But can we now turn our eyes to the giver of the blessing
-
because being blessed is a relationship. Early on, I was talking about being
-
the recipient receiving God's blessings is too big, it's too heavy. We can't
-
help but to kneel down and put it on the floor because we can't carry
-
it. But how about God when he says he blesses us, he actually
-
comes down to our level. He kneels down to our level to bless us.
-
When I was preaching in cyber it was family Sunday, so we're kids
-
around and so I went to one kid and pretended I'm Father God or Lord
-
Jesus, and he's he represents a human And I just kneel down, knelt
-
down beside him and sayd hi, how are you? And then he would
-
respond to me and say is there anything I could help you with? And
-
then he responded to me as well. But can you see? This is
-
how God blesses us, that he will come down to our level to relate
-
to us, to help us, and ultimately to save us. And so
-
if we could paraphrase this last part of the scripture through the previous slight again
-
and in you, all the nations of the earth shall be saved. Because
-
ultimately, what is the biggest help that God can give men when He kneels
-
down to our level from heaven to earth. What is the biggest hel out
-
and biggest blessing? It's salvation, isn't it? No other blessing is greater
-
than the gift of salvation. And so when God knelt down, it's not
-
just to do small talk with us. It's not just to give us little
-
blessings and break truths. It's to give us the ultimate blessing and breakthrough,
-
which is salvation. And so from here we see that it's God's idea for
-
salvation because and in you, each of you, all the nations of the
-
earth shall be saved. God wants to save all the nations of the earth
-
through each of us. God gave Abraham this covenant, this call, and
-
we share in it as spiritual children of Abraham. Okay, now that's the
-
first OH origin. Now the second OH is obstacles. Everyone say obstacles.
-
So there will always be obstacles when God calls us to help someone to know
-
him. For sure, I can predict it better than the weather. I
-
cannot predict the weather. I cannot predict the stock market. I cannot predict
-
your girl, your husband, your wife, your child. But I can
-
predict this. Whenever God calls us to obey him, especially to help someone
-
to know him, there will be obstacles for sure. For sure, because
-
we have an enemy who doesn't want people to walk in God's ways, who
-
doesn't want people to know him. So for sure there's going to be opposition.
-
Let's look at Genesis chapter twelve, verse ten to thirteen. It's just
-
a few verses down what we read just now, few verses down our same
-
chapter haven't even changed chapter. Okay, this is what it says. Now.
-
There was a famine in the land, and Abram went down to Egypt
-
to dwell there. For the famine was severe in the land, and it
-
came to pass when he was close to entering Egypt that he said to Sarah,
-
his wife, Indeed, I know that you're a woman of beautiful countenance.
-
Therefore it will happen when the Egyptians see you, that they will say
-
this is his wife, and they will kill me, but they will let
-
you live. Please say you are my sister, that it may be well
-
with me for your sake, and that I may live because of you.
-
Wow. You know, if I had to highlight things never to say to
-
your wife as a husband, this would be number one true not wives,
-
true, not man. If my husband said this to me, you know,
-
man, I yeah, I don't say yeah, But anyway, you
-
get my point. Things not to say, never to say to your wife.
-
Okay, that you're not my wife, you're just my sister. But
-
can you believe that came from Abraham, the Father of faith, my goodness,
-
and this is just few verses down, you know, from God's call
-
and covenant to him get out, and I will you know, bless you
-
and make you a great blessing. And a few verses down haven't even changed
-
chapter or chapters. He suddenly turned around one hundred and eighty degrees. And
-
that's just humans. You know, one moment we are up here in faith,
-
the next moment we can be down here in fear. And I just
-
want to highlight that of all the different obstacles that are going to come away
-
in obeying God, probably the greatest obstacle is this one our minds, our
-
minds. Some of the greatest battles are not battles that take place around us,
-
via the battles that take place inside of us and in the workshop of
-
our mind. The greatest tool that the enemy loves to use is the tool
-
of fear. Of all the tools in the toolbox, he'll pick up the
-
tool of fear and wield it in our minds. And this is what happened
-
to Abraham, just versus down from God speaking to him, you know,
-
face to face. You know, couldn't be giving him such a great call
-
and promise. He'saly chickened out and became fearful. He could have trusted God
-
right if God provided me with Sarah. I'm sure God will protect us.
-
He chickened out, and so it happens. I chickened out too. Right
-
when Ching Ching's mom passed away and I heard about the news, I chickened
-
out. I got scared to reconnect with her. Then, What will she
-
think? What will she think? When I had the first dream from God
-
to invite her to church, I chickened out too. What was she think?
-
What was she think? It's only the second dream that God really just
-
convicted me, and I think it was really a God moment. If I
-
didn't act at that moment, I may have chickened out too. So sometimes
-
you got to strike while the iron is hot, you feel it in your
-
spirit from God. You got to just do it, because you leave it
-
another ten seconds you might just chicken out. Okay, I'm telling you that
-
all of us are capable of chickening out, even Abraham me, all of
-
us. No one is exempted. So we got to just act when the
-
call is issued. All right? Yeah, so, oh, sorry I
-
missed the hard check. Okay, never mind, we'll do all the hard
-
checks later and reason. Yeah, okay, never mind. Now we'll go
-
to the third point, which is obeyed. So this one, I really
-
don't have to preach too much to us about it, because yes, God,
-
God speaks to us all the time. But I just want to say,
-
friends, as crazy as the the obstacles are ahead of us, especially
-
in our minds, in our fears, we just have to obey God.
-
We just have to obey God. Now we jump to Hebrews chapter eleven,
-
verse eight. Hebrews eleven, verse eight, and this was said of Abraham
-
retrospectively, maybe over a thousand years after he obeyed. It says by faith,
-
Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place which he
-
would receive as an inheritance. And he went out not knowing where he was
-
going. And so, friends, in the words of Nike, just do
-
it again, just do it. Just do it. Yes, in the
-
words of the Great Nike, just do it. Okay, Yeah, just
-
do it. Don't wait too long. Whatever God is putting on your heart
-
right now, right, don't wait too long, because there's gonna be a
-
tendency of chickening out. Okay, can happen to me, to Abraham,
-
can happen to you? So please just do it. Nah, do the
-
right thing now. Of course, Okay, the final Oh, and this
-
is the final point. Obedience is always a door opener in the Kingdom of
-
God, not just for salvation, but for everything else in your life.
-
Okay, but today I'm relating it to salvation. Obedience it's one of the
-
keys of the Kingdom that opens unseen doors in your life and the life of
-
others. So let's look at Matthew chapter one, verse seventeen. Matthew Chapter
-
one, verse seventeen. So it says, so all the generations from Abraham
-
to David are fourteen generations. From David until the captivity in Babylon our fourteen
-
generations. And from the captivity in Babylon until the Christ, our fourteen generations.
-
Now I want us to focus on the word Abraham and Christ first and
-
last line. It's because Abraham obeyed finally despite the obstacles, that he gained
-
a place in the lineage of Jesus Christ. Obedience opened the door for Abraham
-
to have a place and the honor in the lineage of Jesus Christ. If
-
Abraham did not obey, I believe God would have raised up another man,
-
maybe a man called bib Him. I don't know. Abraham bibhim. Okay,
-
anyways, I don't know. Yeah, but then the name would be
-
different. It will not be Abraham, it would be someone else's name.
-
If Abraham did not obey fully and ultimately, Abraham would have lost his place
-
in the lineage of Jesus. But because Abraham obeyed, finally I had the
-
word finally, because at first it was difficult to obey, but finally he
-
did. And I'm so glad for his example. I'm so glad that all
-
the great men and women in the Bible, named or unnamed, all had
-
that initial response and then they had the final response. So I prayed that
-
we would choose the latter. We all have our initial responses out of fear,
-
but I pray that we will end the race well out of faith in
-
man. And so because Abraham obeyed, his name is there written in the
-
Bible throughout eternity. Abraham the great, great, great, great, great
-
many times over, grandfather of Jesus Christ. He secured his place in God's
-
promise and destiny. How about you? Are you going to obey and keep
-
your spot in the promise and the destiny that God has for you in your
-
life, in someone else's life or are you going to forego that spot?
-
You can, you know, just posit to someone next to you, La,
-
but then it won't be you. Yeah. I'm so thankful that despite
-
the times that I've chickened out in reconnecting to Ching Ching that ultimately or finally
-
God helped me to take that step of faith to reconnect with her and that
-
is my spot, Like, Hey, I have a part to play in
-
her salvation. Yeah. And so I mean I'm really not after that,
-
okay, but I'm just saying that, Wow, that would be a that's
-
really a bonus memory from the Lord. Yeah. And this has taught me
-
a lot that really we want to see people coming to know God in our
-
lives. You can forget about time, and you can forget about distance.
-
You can forget about the crazy impossibilities or barriers that stand between you and the
-
other person. Because God just showed me through my own life that time is
-
not an issue for him. We've been separated for more than twenty years.
-
God can reconnect us. She's in Singapore and I'm in Kyl. God can
-
bring us together, So oh good? How do we connect? God can
-
work through it. So I'm telling you this just thraw all the logical barriers
-
and impossibilities that stand between you and that person, and let God just work
-
out that highway between you and that person. Amen, God says, I
-
make a way in the wilderness. I make a highway in the wilderness.
-
So really, I never ever ever thought it was ever possible for God to
-
use me to help my friend to know him. But he just did against
-
all odds. Israelly, against all odds. And so I want to pass
-
this blessing and anointing to each of you as well, that God will help
-
each of you. God will use each of you to help someone else know
-
Him. This year, I want to prophesy that in thirteen thirty we're going
-
to see fresh souls, not just church service transfers. Or this is too
-
early for me. I'm coming to thirteen thirty, or not just church transfers.
-
I ah, you know to Father for me. Yeah, that one
-
is twenty five minutes, not twenty minutes. I come for twenty minutes distance
-
from my house. No, thirteen thirty, you will see fresh souls,
-
new souls, new lives that are saved in Him. But our part to
-
play is to just do it, to just obey. Okay, So as
-
you close. So just very four hard check questions. This will help you
-
to put whatever you're hurt into action. Now master trainer Katrine, she will
-
tell you you cannot just listen. You must do something about what you listen.
-
What's your take hold action point smart goals? Yeah, okay, so
-
I'm learning from her. Yes, and so these are four heart check questions
-
and this can be sure the first heart check question, Okay, who the
-
first one? If you want to take notes, you can at lesten just
-
put a whole question mark. Okay, who has got places in your life?
-
Who needs to know him? Maybe you already know, or maybe you
-
don't know, like me, I didn't think of my friend. Right.
-
Well, if you know someone, then you you kind of quote it work
-
at someone. But always be open to God and say God, is there
-
someone else that you actually want to use me to reach out to? So
-
be it leave room for God. Right, we sang the song I will
-
make room for you when it comes to helping others to know him. Don't
-
be so fixated on our own goals and our own plans. It's got to
-
be this person, and I go to do it this way within this time.
-
It's like trying to get that job promotion, that that new card,
-
that holiday, the new girl like that. But no, God doesn't work
-
that way. Leave room for him. Okay, second hard check question after
-
God has shown you who or it sounds like life partner? Okay, like
-
you can probably apply this to finding a life partner as well. Yeah,
-
but okay, so what obstacles are ahead of you to help that person?
-
Know? God identify what are the obstacles ahead of you? For me,
-
it was my fears, my logic. Basically, my mind was my obstacle.
-
I was like, I cannot want to love God. This doesn't make
-
sense at all. Even if it makes sense, I'm too scared to do
-
it. You see me, Like what outgoing person you know in leadership role?
-
I tell you I have my own fears so so, and I just
-
washed my dirty linen out before you, right, but so that yeah,
-
we can all be make cleaning in the Lord. So I do it my
-
own fears. You asked me if I will do this over again with someone
-
else, I would, but I would still have some feels. But having
-
these examples to fall back on, I'm like, Okay, God, it
-
can happen, so let's do it. Again. Yeah, okay, So
-
you got to identify what the obstacles ahead of you, simple things as not
-
enough time is real, put it down, because only when you identify what
-
the obstacles are then you can pray and work at it. Yeah okay.
-
The next hard check. So, what is the one thing or the first
-
thing that you need to do to obey God this week? In that journey
-
of helping let someone to know him? Do you need to pick up your
-
phone after this service and text someone? Do you need to lift someone up
-
in your prayer during your quiet time tomorrow morning? Is the someone that you
-
need to make time for on your calendar? Hey, let's meet up.
-
It's been a while I've been thinking about you. What what is that something
-
that you need to do to obey God this week? Don't talk about next
-
month, next year, I'm talking about just this week. What do you
-
need to do now and this week to obey God? It could you could
-
expand this even to other areas of your life as well that you're trusting God
-
for a break truth? What is that one thing that you could you need
-
to do this week to obey God? The final heart check, Well,
-
this is not really a heart check. But this is a promise to say
-
that get ready to see hearts and doors open to Jesus as you obey,
-
as you take that one step this week, that door is unlocking further for
-
someone to know Jesus, or for your breakthrough to be opened unto you.
-
You could be trusting God for a breakthrough in your health, your relationship,
-
your finances, your business, your ministry, your life. Same principle.
-
God wants you to experience your breakthrough and your blessing. There will be obstacles,
-
but you've got to just obey and see doors open. So I know
-
I'm talking a lot about salvation today, but we can extend this to every
-
area of our lives because His Kingdom principles are timeless and ever green. It
-
applies for salvation, it applies for every other door in our life that needs
-
to be open. Amen. We hope you've been blessed by this message.
