The Great Testimony | Pr Yvonne Chong

We hope this message will light up your day.

I'm gonna just share with us, and I don't know,

I just not so creative with titles, but I'm gonna

just title it as the great Testimony, okay.

Uh?

And and you know, if we read the Bible, there's

a lot of importance or highlights put on having a testimony,

having a great testimony, and how having a great testimony

as our best food. All right, So I'm gonna share

with us a few points. I forget number. I think

it's about six to seven points. And I'm gonna start

with this, all right. Why why is it? Because I'm

sure you know, on homes level, even on Sunday, sometimes

you'll hear different ones coming up to share that testimony.

Uh.

And on homes your leaders sometimes we encourage you, you know,

come on, you know, let's continue to believe God for

a great testimony even in our life. Or you know,

you can hear different ones even encouraging to live a

life of a good testimony. All right, So a testimony

can be something that you know you can share of

what you have experienced, but also being a good testimony

or a good role model. All right, so I'm sharing

in both of these contexts. I may use it interchangeably

as well. Okay, So point on, okay, why why do

we you know, why are we encouraged to have good testimony,

to desire for a good testimony, but to live a

life of a good role model, being a good room

model as well? Okay, first is from X chapter one

versus eight. I get where is the mic?

How far can we?

Oh? Okay, can wireless? Right, we can start with the

second roller. I know the Yeah, the first row have

Yeah from the side.

Uh, first row have served the whole day ready, so

I shall let them take a break, okay, X chapter

Okay, on X chapter one, verse eight. But you but

you will receive power when the Holy Spirit come on you,

and you will be my weaknesses in Jerusalem and in

all ju Day and Semary and to the end of

the earth.

Hey man, thank you so much for reading so X

one it uh, Sometimes okay when you read this like, oh,

I'm not in Jerusalem, Judy or Samaria. This does not

apply to me, it does. It actually is a very

symbolic or represents you know, Jerusalem. It's your money, all right,

where you're currently Judea can be some slightly further away,

probably across the near life or even the whole state

of Solanga. Right, So money is in Solanga, then Samaria, Malaysia,

and then to the ends of the earth. Anywhere outside

of Malaysia, all right, can be mauricious as well. Yeah,

And so God has caused us to be witnesses for

him and having a great testimony according to this verse, right,

a great testimony to be able.

To witness, you have to experience first, right.

Uh.

You cannot witness something that you don't personally experience. So

having a great testimony means you have allowed God to

work in your life and something great come up of it.

And it can be used as a powerful too to

especially share your faith and the message of Jesus Christ.

Uh.

And and you know, like what I say, you know,

when become witness with witness of what Christ has done

in our life. So the first point is you know,

it is a great witnessing too, uh.

To other people.

Sometimes just through sharing the word itself. It is powerful,

but sometimes people don't understand it might be too technical

for them.

Uh.

And and by applying.

The word of God, you can still share the word

of God by putting it into practical through sharing of

your testimony. All right, so powerful too to share your

faith and the message of Jesus Christ.

Okay.

Second point is Matthew chapter five, verse sixteen. The next

person Matthew chapter five, verse sixteen.

In the same way, like your light shine before others

that they may see your good deeds and glorify your

Father in heaven.

And man, thank you so much for reading. So if

you can see here right, let your like shine. What

does this tell you? Having a great testimony, you know,

involves our life being very visible to demonstrate our faith.

So our lives, you know, becomes shiningly bright so that

people can see our faith in the Lord Jesus.

All right.

And if not just see, but it reflects what we

believe in as well. And living a godly life with help,

you know, help us be of a different benchmark for people.

And and when we live a godly life, people can

actually see it and they know, Okay, this guy is

very very different.

Uh.

You know.

In the marketplace.

Everyone is politicking so that you know that you can

climb up the corporate letter.

But this guy is very different. Wire.

You know, you do not bribe, you don't take bribes.

You know, you do not backstep each other. Then you know,

people may wonder like why is this person so godly?

Or sometimes they may say so holy wana, But some

people can say it as as being.

Cynical, you know, to you know, Malicia say to to

choke you, to.

Make fun of you. But sometimes it does carry weight

as well, So it is okay. You know your friends

say like, wow, you got you so holy? It's okay

when I can just got be an examine, it's fine. No,

you know, God has caused us to let our lights

shine so that it can actually demonstrate and show off

our faith, but also demonstrate and show off the Christ

that is in us. Okay the point Second Corinthians, chapter five,

verse seventeen. Okay, it can read its Second Corinthians, chapter five,

verse seventeen.

I'm sorry, do they Okay, it's okay, got my spect

I can't lend your mind to learn. Okay.

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation.

All things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new,

ay man, So why do we need to have a

great testimony?

You know?

Why do we become a great role model? Because it

shows of christ transformation workin us.

Uh.

You know, it's like before and after Christ.

I'm sure a lot of family or friends, so I

might know us before we met Christ. They should see

a difference, you know, after we become a Christian because

the old has passed away and the new has come.

All right, So that is something really really powerful. I

don't know of any other faith that can cause someone's

life to transform hundred eighty degrees to be someone new

for good. Okay, some people can transform, but it might

most of the time to become better and better, No,

not better.

What's that word? More bad? Not better? Yeah, you get

what I mean?

Right, And and and some people can transform for good

as well sometimes, but it's not permanent because it's also

still done off their own strength. But the permanent transformation

is to Christ, because Christ inhabits in us, and and

we become more Christ like He turns us around. Okay

one to three? Four fourth point all right? From James

Chapter one, verse two to four. James Chapter one verse

two to four.

James one, Chapter one, verse two, My bresent count it

all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that

the testing of your faith producers patients. But let patients

have each perfect work, that you may be perfect and

complete lacking nothing.

Amen, thank you for reading. So fourth point, let your

faith uh produce step fudness.

And so you know that's another versions, there's stepfastness. And

a lot of times people will see, you know, if

the hardships that we go through, it is not good,

you know, with how come my life lost so many

trials and tribulations and challenges?

This is not good?

But if you read here right in Jane, Chatto one

is a total different thing altogether. The Bible actually does

acknowledge that believers may or will face trials and challenges.

But all of this can be turned around and be

strength then for good and and out of it, but

a testimony that will be compelling and people can actually

relate to it so that they know, like crystal, Christians

are real people, right because a lot of times they

may hear us, you know, preaching more uh than experiencing Christ.

But when we experience Christ and share with people, then

they will see that. A.

Okay, they are real. They are not just being Holy Moly.

But they have lived their life out and practical and

they do go don't go through challenges, but then you

know you're able to also share the solutions to that challenge.

So uh, the working of our life, the working out

of our life, will produced that story, will produce that testimony.

Okay.

The fifth one would be from First Timothy chapter four, vers.

Twelve. Can read it First Timothy, chapter four of US.

Okay, First tim Murthy chapter four, verse twelve. Let no

one despises your youth, but be an example to the

believers in word, in conduct, in love, in the spirit,

in faith, in purity.

Hey man, thank you so much.

The fifth point, you know, if you read here, is

we will need to be consistent in living out the faith.

Why is that important?

You know?

For a believer right that consistently leaves out according to

our what we have professed in believing in right, people

can see that at all tentticity.

This is tunk twister of our faith.

You know.

True, we live out to our actions, we live out

to our words, and it does not just I believe,

it's not just for youthlower, all right. But you anyone's

a youth below hundred years old, always young at hard, right.

You know, Mahara, he's almost one hundred years old and

he's still traveling the world o meeting ministers, you know,

still going for high level meetings.

And I find that very youthful.

Some twenty years old, we're like, I'm not moving, okay,

I'm stuck to my bed. I'm not going to meet anyone.

Sometimes it's the other way around. So I believe below

hundred we are youths. Let's set an example. And to

be able to set an example requires us to live

it out right, So in our actions, in our words,

in our lifestyle, continuously aligning to the word of God,

all right, so that people when you see, like, hey,

how come you today like so, they won't see that

today you say something, you're like this, then tomorrow become

someone else. So we have to be consistent in our

faith and in our integrity, in what we believe in,

all right, And that will contribute and give weight to

having a really strong testimony or really strong being a

really strong role model in life as well.

Okay, the sixth point.

Will be Hebrews Chapter ten verse twenty four to twenty five.

Okay, Hebrews Chapter ten, he Brews Chapter ten, verse twenty

four to twenty five. And let us consider how we

may spur one another on toowards love and good deeds.

Let us not give up meeting together, as some are

in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another.

And all the more as you see the day approaching.

Hey man, Wow, so much truth in this right, you know,

all the more as you see the day approaching, you

know this means Christ Christ written. Okay, one day Christ

is going to written. The end of the world is

going to happen. Things will not get easier, you know.

You know, we'll hear more.

Wars, there will be a lot of sicknesses and diseases,

calamities that's going to happen. And there's going to be

more and more family or the word. At the moment itself,

sometimes it's already quite hard to get Bibles, really really

good Bibles.

That's what I heard now, like now, like real life.

I just heard from a friend.

If not winness it yet, but you know my aunt

as well, she lives somewhere near, not too near, but

she knows of Bible printing factories in China that has

been burned down, closed down man dream Bibles get strengthed

and stuff like that. So that's gonna be famine out

the words. So as believers, you know, the meeting of together,

coming together as on Sundays, doing your homes on a

weekdays as well. You know, just hanging out with each

other is really important because sometimes you may feel like okay.

You know a lot of people like to say like, okay,

since Christianity is a personal relationship with God, why do

I have to involve others personama.

And technically right?

And technically I feel it is not so as well

because Hebrews ten of these two versus as well to

consider to continue to stir up each other to love

and good works. And we all need that cheerleader in

our life. If it's just a personal relationship with God

and we just decide, okay, I will live up my

faith in my room, only, trust me, you'll not last

long because we constantly need that someone to keep us

in check, to spur us on, to cheer us on,

you know, to be that coach, to be that cheerleader

in our lives. And as we share our stories each other.

As we share our testimonies in each other, right with

each other, it will encouraged, it will continue to uplieve us.

And sometimes, I'm sure all of your experience before in

our Virginny you we will have the valley moments, right,

the really really low moments.

But you know, when we hear of God, of what

God is doing.

In a person's life, we start climbing up out of

that valley again, you know, definitely, you know we need

the help of the Holy Spirit to do that. But

it's the people that got plays around us that will

also be one of the guide and help for us

to come out of it. So it speaks of the

impact we can actually make in each other's life, first

among believers, but the second even to the world.

All right, And it.

Does not just you know, sometimes you feel like, okay,

you know, the sharing testimony is just a story of

a personal change, but look at it that you know,

it can actually inspire and encourage another person one And

it also can cause especially the pre believers to start

being curious and they want to explore the faith, they

want to find hope. Uh And and you know at

the end they're giving their life the crisis well, so

having a great testimony or slash being a good role model.

Hopefully you know, it can I would say if in

foot form, you know, be an empathizer. I'm not asking

Reagen to be an empathizer, but yes, our lives should

be an empithizer to Maumbuka Selera, right, that's what epithiz

Is to open up our epetite. Yeah, and people will

start longing and like, I want to have what you have.

You know, this is so awesome, and and they like

being around you because every time being around you they

feel encouraged or you know, in the word of the world,

I feel so positive, I feel so you know, hopeful.

Uh you know, you know that's an another thing. Now

they like to say healing, healing. They like to go

with chreat places or comparties and a healing. You know,

I hope that when they hang around Christians they'll find healing. Basically,

they rejuvenate, they feel better. You know, you go to

the ritrees by the river with green trees, you know,

they come back refreshed. So I hope, you know, buying

them being around us it will help them with that

as Okay, last but not least, you know, having a

great testimony brings God all the glory right.

Point.

It's like that huge, big error you know, kids blinking

pointing people back to the work work w r kid

of God and to his glory. And and it is

not going to be because sometimes you feel like, okay,

personal testimony is about us because you know we have

Scott a four point oh cgp A. You know, it

so awesome, but it actually points people back to Him.

But because of God's enabling, we are able to do

a four point oh for our c g p A,

So it helps people to know him and the credits

always goes back to him as well. All right, so

and I would like to share Okay, nice story now,

you know I told you you know, God has it

has been crazy crazy past few months for our family,

and and I've been you know, different things going through.

I've been reflecting as well.

Hence you know, I thought, you know, I should share

y'all this this message about having a great testimony. So

my parents, uh and mostly parents and I we started

taking care of our sick uncle.

Uh.

So he is related to us through my mom. He's

my mom's cousin and and of last year, he found

out that he has a fourth days cancer. So I

think I've shard it once or twice before here uh

and and and so our family we decided to take

care of him. It wasn't an easy decision because my

parents are aging uh and and we know the work

that's involved to take care and and that's the number one.

Number two is uh he is from Penang. My parents

are based in Penang, and and we seek a second

opinion here. So he likes the doctor here, which I

mean I was really impressed and and I mean really

really good government hospital and facilities are really good as well.

So decided to get trement here. Means he has to relocate.

My parents have to relocate als uh And then it's

not comfortable because having an extra person in the house.

Although he's a uncle, but I've not really lived in

a house with him before. He does visit us uh

and and he's one of the closer cousins to my

mom and Salah so and and my mom's family, so

her mom which is my grandma. They have eleven siblings

you know older days, right they.

Yeah, that's their hobby uh and and.

And things the word way simpler than okay, so not

so complicated as it is these days. So eleven kids

and so meaning my mom's generation. Imagine how much how

many cousins there are. So when my uncle, so, my

my uncle felt sick, quite a few of his cousins

knew about it, and but strangely as uh, no one

wanted to come around to help. And the reason being

because he didn't really have a good track record as

a persona Uh that's number one, and and uh and

and not many people because of his track record, No,

many people can entirely trust him.

Uh, so they despise him as well.

Uh.

So that that that's one of it. And the second

one is my mom's generation. The cousins, they have very

complicated background. Okay, so except for my mom and her siblings.

Uh they have like a better word okay.

Functional marriage, healthy family uh and and financially okay uh.

Because the rest, like literally the rest.

Uh literally the rest has uh either divorce broken. There's

a lot of and a lot of funny things involved

as well. That's drug trafficking, that's Monday laundering, that's I

don't know. The least is endless. The least is endless, Okay.

So and and so basically it comes down.

To no one taking care of him.

Uh.

And he's alone because his mom passed away three years

ago because of cancer. And he does not he's not

married as well, so and and and he no one

wanted to call on him because he is also a bankrupt.

So our family decided to pray, I really really pray.

I'm like, God, should we do this? Because he entrusts

to take care of him. That would mean that when

he passed away, you had to settle all the other

loose ends of things, which recently this week found out

that he has about thirty seven thousand that we can

get that to settle.

So anyways, God like us to take him in.

And when we took it in, he was I think

a bit half hearted because they're the cousin of his.

It all just uh told him.

And then later on little on learning he told us

he said that he was half hearted. But this cousin

to him is okay, you know, you go live with them,

go get your treatment and carer. Because Edwin and Mary

that's my parents, that's the name. Uh, you know, awain

and married. They are very very good Christians.

Uh.

And and if you want you can also follow what

they believe in. Okay, this comes from their auntie also

that she did really have a very good experience with Christians.

Her ex fiance broke out with her because the family

found out that she's not believed and they are foster

break up because unequally yokla. So she has been keeping

the bitterness for thirty plus yes already and it's not

hell so for her to say that itself, it is

already a miracle. So uncle came to stay with us,

and we decided to share christ with him.

Uh, that's what we should do right as believe us.

Then he keeps saying no, I don't want Uh, it's okay,

you know, wait wait wait, then thinking what are you

waiting for? Because he started his treatment and his the

cancer that he got is a really really aggressive one.

So he's like wait and wait and wait. And then

one day in the office Elder Terence most of you

may know him, Uh, he told me like, hey, I

want to visit your uncle.

How is he doing?

And he said that this morning when he woke up,

he felt a very strong stirring to share the gospel again.

He did it once, really, he said, I want to

do it again and to seal the deal to give

the invitation to my uncle to accept Christ them like

we have tried all, but okay, if you want to

visit care So that time he was hospitalized went to

visit him. Then Eld Terran Chad and when he asked him,

do you accept Jesus? My mancle said yes. We're all

really really surprised. They're like, why is he okay? Because

the time his health has deteriorated, so sometimes he hallucinates

because of the morphine that he takes and his.

Hypo condition, not enough sugar.

And minerals in his blood, and the queen and whether

not lah so like sure not. So we asked him

a few times like yeah, I want to be a Christian.

Then after he said the Salvation prayer, we asked him

lar like actually why he said that because before you

came in the morning, probably around two three am in

the in the hospital, say, he saw a really really

bright light a white color like uh in front of him.

So we're asking to ask for the lah uh and

and and it's like what do you think it is?

You know, why is something or light on? He's like,

I think it's Jesus.

Uh.

There it was a price because usually for a typical

Chinese Taoist, right, their image and what they know Jesus

is this white guy with blue eyes, we beard, dark

colored hair in white rope.

To them, that is Jesus.

They won't describe Jesus as a bright white light, right,

So we already knew, you know, that was a strong

confirmation that, you know, Jesus actually did visit him to

assure him. That's why he decided to receive salvation. And

I think about a month later he wanted to be

water baptized. So managed to baptize him and last week

he actually passed. So and I really really glad that

it all happened. And God's timing eight months. He had

eight months since it was discovered till the day he's passed,

because when he passed away, he was really really peaceful.

I mean you can just see it on the face

as well.

Uh.

He passed in the hospital and there were some complications,

I mean definitely was painful for him, but God took

him back safely. So I was in Penang then, Joseph

with you. So I met you guys right on Thursday.

I was in Penang. You know, God is doing an

amazing thing with the IPG work. Our students in Eli

the you know, they started small go revel. God brought

a revival of the campus and the other IPG campus

so it's a teachers training institute by the government and

the other campuses you know, picked it up and like, hey,

God is doing something in your campus, can we also

have it in our campus. So just at least in

the past month, four of the IPG campus have approached.

I call them our pioneers, you know, our students who

has been doing the work on the ground.

They let me know.

I'm like, okay, let's go meet these students and as

we shared different one of them said, gonna be on

board with this, but how you know, the IPG P

nine one was very interesting because I didn't share a

view by posts that. They started messaging Angelly and ask

how do you pray?

You like, ha ha, how.

Do you listen to God? That comes from the c

F president You mean you actually fast and prayer?

Can first thing?

Really?

Why is it from the Bible?

They're like, okay, so it's the c F itself and

I p G p Nang is the only official cf

in the whole of the IPG campuses in Malaysia because

due to different different things. So and I see it

as not a coincidence. Okay to two points, not coincidents

because uh, I say, you know, the end or d

day is coming, and I feel one of the main

sectors or pillars of the country. Uh, it's the area

of eduction, and and God wants to bring a change

in the area of education. And imagine right, IPG LI

has about sixty future teachers. Now that is part of

the revival movement in IPG.

And a life.

Why I say that because now sixty plus seventy because

out of that at least fifty of them just thro

out that last one and half years, all actually either

salvations or read educations. We don't have many much other

churches joining our small groups in their life. But it's

all true evangelism. And all these lives are are revised

because they have encountered God. Didn't they didn't accept Christ

like out of compulsion or of emotions and feeling. But

a lot of them, at least I know, they take

about six months or a year to consider.

Uh.

And and I can say, you know, it's a real decision,

not just like oh like well, I come to a concert.

Christian concert, I feel so move.

I want to accept Jesus, but it's not that and

a lot of that are going through discipleship now.

And well, so.

Imagine, okay, let's take let's a lot fifty and that's

one campus and now.

Four other ipgs.

So five iyepges fifty times five is two hundred and

fifty future teachers, right, that's going to come out on

fire going into schools, teaching students and on average, probably

one teacher will meet one hundred students a year and

they have so that's my mask. Okay, someone can help me.

So that's two hundred and fifty times hundred, that is

how many thousands or so? Then yeah, and then they

have at least probably thirty years of their teaching life

before they retire, so that would be.

Yes.

So that's the amount of students that this future on

fire teachers it's going to impact. So this is what

God wants to do in and through Malaysia to the

area of education. You know, that is a really big vision,

but I believe it is possible. And imagine, you know,

helping hundred students each year to be better because the

teachers day themselves are revived their they themselves are experiencing

God on your own. So that was the weekend there

and I did tell God, it's just being me, like okay,

because I just don't see God as God God by

he's also my father and my friend, right, so with

fathers and friends sometimes I bargain.

So I had a deal with God. God.

I'm going to Pinnan on Thursday, and this day only

time I can meet twelve of the cfs, ay fifteen twelve,

twelve of them and all of them are the committee.

And the cf is only twenty people, so twelve committee

a very big committee. And and I'm like, God, we

have a ready mate arrangement if you want to take

my uncle back. Because on that Sunday, which is just

last Sunday, I go home after church. My dad's like

we have to go to hospital now called the ambulance.

Are like, oh okay. So that day my uncle wasn't

feeling well already. He vomited seven times. First few rounds

were flam The second round was yellow color, that round

was green color. The fourth round was like coffee, my

little blackish, so that the fourth front the last few

rounds at the three rounds of that was actually dry

black that was already in his uh tummy and abdomen.

So we rushing to the hospital. So my prayers I

got Thursday, I need gold Pinang no matter what, I

need to meet the students. And according to the doctor's estimation,

they were estimating probably he may pass on Thursday. So

if that's the case means to cancer the appointment I won't.

We to see Joseph and Derek in Penang as well.

They were really really great support that they because I

can't do mandry all the tough students can. They only

can understand a lot of mandory and not so much

you English. So so that was my cheeky deal with God.

God.

I know he is suffering, but if it's your this,

if can if can like at least not Thursday, if

one to probably one two days before or after I'm

done meeting with the students. So true enough, I don't

know because it is God's timing still right. But on

my side, I'm like, hey, God, I want to strike

a deal with you.

So on so on.

During the West Thursday, I was about to leave. My

parents weren't happy because like, hey, your uncle like that,

How can you go to Penane. But I prayed, I

felt at peace that and I know I need to go,

so I tried to help that understand. That understood because

my parents are really anxious. We're planning to bring his

body back to Penine, so that's a lot of paper

will involved, different things involved, arrangement, and my parents are

not familiar with Klang Valley, so they become very anxious

that I have to assure that it is okay anything

I will receive on the side of opinion.

So the men went really.

Well, and then on Friday morning got a call at

ten fifteen the ancle passed. So you know, I really

thank God for his faithfulness to see us through that.

And the funeral was the weeks service was on Saturday,

the funerals on Sunday, so it was just a night

thing for the service. So closing with this testimony as

well during my grandma's passing because that's my mom's side, right,

So the ralatives all came and we had service. Right

those who are not believers, so the only believers there

is just very few people and those who are not

believe us, they refused to join the service. But this

time around from my auncle's passing. A lot of them

decided to sit in the service, and I was really

surprised that they did that, and I think all I

could say and then because see, you know, their response

was different service. They were engaged during the word the

word sharing as well, which a lot actually all that

have not been to a church setting before. But when

we when we sang the you know, worship songs at all,

I saw them also trying to sing because they're looking

at a boat and I can see them trying to

sing as well.

My first ever.

And you know, as I reflect back, I realized that

it is because how my parents have lived their life.

That is not their first time even extending and going

beyond their comfort, extending care to the family. And I

believe very much, you know, the relatives have seen that

because I told you, everyone knows he's like the black

ship in the family. He has been despised my uncle,

but our family did not and and my parents have

been believer since ninety ninety tree. Some of you might

not be born yet, then since nineteen ninety three, and

I can see, you know, for the past thirty.

How many years is that thirty plus?

Yes, my math is not Good twenty twenty four and

it's nineteen ninetye. So they have been very consistent in

their good works in the showing of their faith. They

I know them very well. They don't preach the Gospel

down people's truth first, they leave it up. They care

and you know my parents when they say they care,

they really really care. They are very warm and hospitable people,

and they go all the way as well. So I

can see, you know, the family has been infected by

that because as well. You know, when I was preparing

a message, I was just counting. Actually I rather this

both my parents' side. At least seventeen of them has

given their life to Christ directly because of my parents.

So a lot of them either like they face some challenges,

you know, then they'll come my parents, can we believe

in your God as well. So all the time, right,

we have been like, you know, once in a while

to share TESTI many of them, I said, hey, you

want the really Jesus casually extending the invitation. But now

that has responded. But when they go through different things,

they remember and they actually come up. So most of them, right,

it's not us like you know, openly formally giving them

an invite. Okay, you know, do you want to accept Jesus?

A lot of them come to us and say that

we want what you have.

Uh.

And then and and that speaks a lot of itself

and why I wanted to share what I shared today
