Day light of the world. If you're writing noteste's my

message title today, light of the world. Let's go into

scripture John chapter eight, verse one to twelve. Okay, now,

and I will sort of like bring it to a

close at the end. The significance of that conversation I

have with a young person, as well as the significance

of this phrase and statement. I believe most of us here,

if not all of us here, believe us. And we

got to know who Jesus is, and we've got to

know our role in this world. Okay, I'm just going

to read John chapter eight, verse one to twelve. Okay,

it says here, but Jesus went to the mount of Olives.

Now early in the morning, he came again into the temple,

and all the people came to him, and he sat

down and taught them. Then the scribes and pharisees brought

to him a woman caught in the doultery. And when

they had sat her in the midst uh. Basically, this

woman had been doing bad, bad things. Okay, I'm very

aware at kids are here, so don't worry. I won't

go to detail. But she she she was just doing

bad stuff, okay, which is not good.

Uh.

And they said to him, teacher, this woman was caught

in the doultery in the very act. Wow, I wonder

how did they catch her in the very act? Yeah? Yeah,

weird right? Don't you think weird right? That they can

actually say we caught right handed? No, how you know that?

You see, you, you don't catch somewe right hand unless

you're waiting for them to do it. Sounds quite funny, rightkay?

You guys not following me anyway? Now, Moses in the

law commanded us that such should be stoned. But what

do you say? So, okay, let's let's read further and

then we'll we'll we'll break it down. Okay, this they say,

testing him that they might have something of which to

accuse him. But Jesus stooped down and rolled on the

ground with his finger as though he did not hear. So,

when they continue asking me, he raised himself up and

said to them, he who is without saining among you,

let him throw a stone at her first, And again

he stooped down and rode on the ground. Then those

who heard it being convicted by their conscience, went out

one by one, beginning with the oldest, even to the last,

and Jesus was left alone and the woman standing in

the midst. When Jesus had raised himself up and saw

no one but the woman, he said to her, a woman,

where are those accusers of yours? Has no one condemned you?

She said, no one, Lord, And Jesus said to her,

neither do I condemn you? Go and say no more.

And Jesus spoke to them again, saying, I am the

light of the world. He who follows me shall not

walk in darkness, but have the light of light. So

my first point is Jesus. Okay, we always go back

to him, right, Jesus the light of the world. And

this is just a case study. Okay, let's do a

bee of a case study. Um, because you have a

few characters here you have and again, this history, it's

not a storybook. We gotta learn to read the Bible

as history book, not storyboo. You know, I know sometimes

we approach the Bible like a storybook because some of

the things we read can be so outlandish that we're like, oh,

only a fairy tale, guys, is history it really happened.

To us, it really happened. Now. I don't know what

else you're hearing out there from other people, but to us,

it really happened. Okay, So it is history. What did

the scribes and Pharisees seek to do? Think about it?

They are one of the people involved. So I give

a bit of context. If you don't know who this

Jesus is. So he was basically in church. I use

this context, your understander. He was in church, and he

was quite knowledgeable in the world. And imagine here, Let's say,

let's find someone here, Grace. Okay, Grace, she's coming and

she's sharing with people about the Bible, and he's very convincing,

and imagine that. Let's say the leadership, I mean, we

will never do so I'll just use an example. We're

not so happy. Why everybody listens to Grace? Right? And

then that's what happened. The scribes, you know, the religious leaders,

they were not happy because Jesus was actually talking sense.

You know, they were preaching the law. Hey guys, you

must make sure you come nine o'clock. If not, now

you're gonna go to hell. Okay, if anybody preached like that,

to you here, an ex please talk to me because

that's not true. Right, It's not about following law, rule

of law. Right, we are already saved by grace. We

adhere to the lifestyle because we are already saved, not the

other way around. You know, in Bahasau we used to

work the ballet. You got it backwards, right, So that's

what happened. And of course you know, Jesus got more

influenced traction because he's speaking sense, he's sweaking sense, he's

bringing things that you know, imagine when you're reading something

for so many years and you don't understand, you have

someone that comes and explains to you and and gives

you this answer that makes it go like wow, now

I understand why, Now I understand what all this is.

These things is happening. And not just that Jesus also

performed miracles. How cool is that? Right? So, this, this

guy that is not recognized as a religious leader not

is really speaking sense in terms of the scripture, the

word of God. Not just that he's also being used

by God now to to heal people. Know. That's why

they want to test him. Lah, That's why they want

to test him because they're losing they're losing influence. Thinking

about it, they are losing the influence because the people

are listening to him, not them, right, that's and it's

it's so interesting that they decide to drag a well,

she's not really in a cellar, okay, drag a woman

who they probably know already. They probably can suspect they

probably know already. Wanna it's been happening for a while ready,

you know, because it's not the Bible didn't say adult. Really,

Beginning with the older and Jesus, let's alone and the

woman standing in the midst Okay, when I read that,

I keep thinking that it's only Jesus and the woman. Actually, no, no,

his disciples were there, the people that he was teaching

all here, right, and that activity going on, and we're

having conversations, and then suddenly got this commotion, right, a

girl of people dragging this lady who's crying and going

We should all stone and drag her to jail? What

say you? That's what the law says. What say you?

They want to test Jesus, That's what they wanted to do, right.

They sought to test him. You know why because they

knew what he was gonna do. He's been preaching about forgiveness.

He's been preaching about all these things, so they kind

of know what he was gonna do. He's gonna forgive

her and then he will lose his credibility because you know,

how can you forgive they knew or they knew because

they're not These pep are not dumb people know they're

quite small or no, they are lawyers, you know. I'm sorry.

If there's any lawyer, please don't don't don't. Yeah, no,

But but they know how to catch him. That's why

they put him in that situation. They wanted to catch

him breaking the law. That's what they wanted to do.

He's so compassionate, right, Hey, that's how they purposely say

the law of Moses. Do you know how their entire

belief system hangs on this law? No, their entire belief system.

But this is the wonderful thing about Jesus. I love

Jesus man because he didn't give them what they want.

What did he do? He ignored them? Yo? Your agreed?

That's culture same as weet right. Imagine everybody's you know,

making noise and and and we're all like, you know,

drag someone you know, and then like perssy even look

this person done so horrible thing, and person look at

it and we're always think for the answer, right, and

and then what did Jesus do what he passes Steven?

Don't you think that will have made them more angry?

I'm trying to guard my language case here. What don't

you think that we have made them much more angry? Right? Hey, hello,

I want to catch you know. And then just then,

now everyone else was watching. You know, there were spectators.

Do you know that there were spectators? There were spectators.

He was preaching in the synagogue, very packed one now,

people doing a lot of things. The video creped I

finger as though he did not hear. Friends, can I

share something you are some issues in your life are

you don't have to answer straight away on? Some issues

in your life are that you're being pressed to answer

now now? Naw, you kind of don't have to answer

immediately on. Sometimes it's just a moment the situation. Sometimes

you need some time. You don't have to answer now

passes now now no, no, chill, chill, don't have to

answer immediately. Don't have to answer immediately. And they continue

asking him, and then he raised himself up and said

to them, wow, Mike, drop woman, he who is without

saying among you let him throw a stone at her first?

Do you know that he didn't answer kind of directly

what they were asking, right, and then he continue writing

on the floor. Of course, some scholars to say, oh,

you cannot deny. But when people are young, right, you

don't really think about things. Then you just chung, let's

go for it, right, going through everything, experience everything, and

then suffer later. Why the oldest first because they were wiser.

everybody got a sin, more or less. Sin doesn't matter,

it's the same, right. But the man gave a very

good analogy yesterday about sin. He said he likes coffee, okay,

and then he has a tumbler. He puts coffee inside, right,

and there's a little bit of a recipe of coffee.

And even if he feels the the tumbler with water, right,

and he doesn't clean the coffee away, even a bit

of coffee left and he feels water. Don't you think

the water will taste like coffee? How can he get

the coffee away only when he's washed clean? No sin,

little bit seen, A lot of sin still got seen.

Doesn't matter. But the older left first because they have

more years of experience. They were like, okay, you caught us, Jesus.

And then the younger one all we think, we think,

we think, you see what the uncle will do huh

no stoner, huh uh. Oh they're living means they got sins?

Then what about me? Oh yeah, I light that day?

Oh yeah, I did this that day. Then they also left.

They were convicted by their conscience and left, one by one.

John eight eleven says Jesus didn't condemn the woman, although

he could. Do you know that the only person could

have thrown the stone was Christ? He could have known

only the only person that amount of stone the throne, sorry,

thron the stone first was Jesus. But what did he say? Woman?

Where are those accusers of yours? Has no one condemned you?

She said? No one? Lord Jesus said to her, neither

do I condemn you? Go and sin no more. Let

me give you this perspective. He gave her a second

chance and told her to sin no more. Let me

give us this thought. Processor What do you think would

have been the better thing for Jesus to do? Do

you think that this way would make There's only two pasa.

Either he condemned her and throw the stone follow the law,

or he gave her a second chance because he could.

He didn't sing no. Do you know that you could

only give another person's second chance if you are qualified.

Jesus is qualified to stone the lady, but he decided

not to stone the lady. How powerful is that?

Sometimes our kids make mistakes, and of course we were punished.

I understand. But if the person has wronged us, and

we give the person a second chance, and the person's

aware about it, la, A person's not aware, la, okay aware?

Do you think the person will repeat the mistake again?

She almost died. He gave her a second chance, he

said go and say no more. Don't you think there

were more reason for her to really change transform? Do

you think she will continue being a I mean, I

don't know. I hope, I hope there was true repentance. Right? Why?

Because we're human beings, we know people can reavert. Let

me flip the table a little bit for those of

us here who may have done mistakes before. How do

we treat our second chances? Oh? Yeah, second chance? Get off,

deserved the stoning, but you didn't. I deserve it, but

I didn't. Let me give you another perspective. Remember I said,

all these things happening and everybody was watching. What a

powerful message of second chances that Christ showed. He didn't speak,

he showed to the people around here, what a powerful

message of forgiveness. He could know. He was the only

one that could have judged the lady thrown the stone

because he had no sin. But he didn't. He didn't

he was teaching her or straight away got message illustration

on the spot. Don't you think the people watching were

have been impacted? They would have been. It would have

been a powerful teaching woman. Remember that Jesus was teaching

and this happened in front of many people at the temple.

At the temple, no how they should live. He showed

them a different way to live. Lulu ru la rue

la rue law grace, forgiveness. But only he can do it.

That's why Jesus is the light. I painted a picture

in front of you. Not do you know that I'm

not the light? Yes, I'm a church reader. I'm not

the liar. Nobody, even those in religious or it can

be the light because only Christ is the light. Only

Christ is the light. You're all fallen. And just to

give you a picture of what happened. Of course, if

you read further, you will see how he defends himself.

And there were different things. And he only left the

temple at John chapter eight, verse fifty nine when they

wanted to store him. He only left the temple when

they want to be So people are still there, things

that stay happening. You know, guys can and cart you

when you read the Bible. Please don't just read one line.

Read the whole context of it. Try and imagine the situation.

It would be in a very stressful situation for Jesus.

Let me go and share a little bit further. Remember

I said the religious leaders were concerned about the law.

Right he is he going to fulfill the law or not?

But then he showed another way forgiveness, repentance. I'm very

sure the lady were repented. No more, Lord, no more,

no more, no more. Such a lifestyle right, total life change,

whish and we have been more powerful a person who

has a life change that has a history and then

now totally change totally new belief or a person who

has passed away because gonna stored, which one will have

been a more powerful thing? Think about it? Why do

we believe in second chances? Why do we not straight?

We're just going buntipe people. Sorry, let me translate whack people.

Christ's ball witness to himself okay, in front of many people,

and gave them an example of how to respond. He

also made the claim that he is the light of

the world, and those who follow him would not have

darkness by light. Let me read the scripture to help

us go a little bit deeper. It says in verse fourteen,

Jesus answered and said to him, even if I bear

witness of myself, my witness is true, for I know

where I came from and where I'm going, But you

do not know where I come from and where I'm going.

You judge according to the flesh. I judge. I judge

no one. And yet if I do judge, my judgment

is true. And I'm not a lone rumor. I said.

Only Jesus could have judged the lady, because he was

clean though right. But I am the father who sent me.

It is also written in your law that the testimony

of two men is true. I am one who best

witness of myself, and the father who sent me best

witness of me. Let me just read further, because I

think it says somewhere that he actually came to fulfill

the law. No Jesus mentioned. You know, I come not

to fight against the law. You use the law against me,

But I didn't come to fight against the law. I

come to fulfill it because only He can fulfill it. Right,

only he can fulfill it, because he's blameless. None of

us here can fulfill the law. Only he can fulfill it.

Let me try and see if you can find that scripture.

Never mind, you'll go there. And because only He can

fulfill it. That's why everything starts with Christ. That's why

he's the way of the tribunal life. That's why, friends,

no matter what we do in this life, you will

never be able to fulfill the law. You can be

the most faithful, perfect church goer, but if Christ is

not your life, you'll get that you cannot work your

way to heaven right now. It has to be true Christ. No,

that's the thing sometimes we forget, So don't get there

be there careful when you start thinking that way. The

commitment is to Christ. And this comes to my next point.

So I hope I've established as that Christ is the like.

He is the like, he is the line. But you

know the interesting thing. Matthew five the teen sixteen, what

does it say metthew five theteen sixteen. It says, God

is it there? Hopefully listen my Matthew five the teen sixteen. Ah, okay, ken,

thanks for that. Let's read Matthew five verse. Okay, Matthew

five the teen sixteen. He says, here therefore I will

speak to them in parables, because seeing they do not see,

and hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand.

And in them the prophecy are Isaiah is forfeit, which

says hearing you will hear, and you not understand, and

seeing you will see and not understand. Okay, you know what,

I don't know what the the correct scripture? Oh okay, yes, okay, sorry, thanks.

You are the sort of the earth. But if the

salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It

is then good for nothing but to be thrown out

and trampled under foot by men. You are the light

of the world. A city that is set on a

hill can be here. It is Jesus. Now he first

claimed that he's the light. Now now he's saying we

are the light. We are sort in light. Okay. Next,

Now do they light a lemon, put it under a

basket but on lem's sad and gives it light to

all who are in the house. Okay. Next, let your

light so shine before men that they may see your

good works and glory fire your father in heaven, that

they may see your good works and glorify your Father

in heaven. Friends, are you a hidden Christian? Or do

you let your light shine to people? Because do you

know that you have a light? Do you know that

you have light in your life and that light is

Christ and you have the light with you? Did you

know why I have to ask this question? I know

what I can't just every regard. Do you really know?

How are you living? Are you still going through tough times?

Are you calling upon Christ? Or is it just sleep service?

Is it just sleep service? It's very very important for

us to catch this. Know do we know the light

or not? First we have to know the light that

is Christ, and then we are the light. Let's go

be a science study, okay for fun now okay, right,

salt what salt? Salt is an agent of change? I

think I have in my slice? Okay, right? And what

does salt? Salt changes the atmosphere and the flavor. You know,

you know I like to cook, right, and I'm learning

a lot of things about cooking thanks to TikTok. Right.

And I found out that you actually clean vegetables in

salt water. Yeah, okay, those are yeah, you know I

never knew, you know. And you wash with salt, you know,

because it preserves and it disinfects. That's what salt does. Right,

And the users of sort is amazing. It's just amazing.

It's short, no, guys, it's just salt. Right now they

have like dry eged stuff and then you know it

preserves things, right, It is infect it cleans. That's what

salt does. Right. What does light do? Light is so

an agent of change? Right? It reflects colors? You know

that light reveals things as ready there? Do you know that?

Can I give you a like a truth that I

believe in? Friends, Sin always likes darkness if you have

any issue in your life that okay, not tep people.

Let's keep quiet, Let's let's do what be very careful

about why it has to be like that? Because things

that are true can always be shown up to the light,

can always be revealed. One. Things that have to be hidden.

Now you got to start questioning it, ready, Why does

it have to be heiden? Okay? I know there are

some unique cases, but I'm generalizing it. When you have

a relationship that you have to hide, you better question

that relationship. When you did something in the office that

you have to hide, you better ask yourself, why is

it like that? Because most of the times, not all,

most of the time, things that are true can be

exposed one and he's okay. One and nobody is going

to be like, oh, you know, but only things that

are questionable one that we always have to hide. Right?

Can I share with you something? I learned this from

to the world, am I still going to be seen

have nothing to hide, you know why my wife not

your because you might take my bank account number. And

we had the light of the world. Light exposes things

that already there. If we have things to have to hide?

To ask God? Why our Lord? Why why is it

like that? We were careful? Right? Think it makes things pretty?

Or so? Do you know that's just wonderful? Light makes

Matthew five six. Let our light so shine before men.

First question you're gonna ask yourself. Do you have the light?

First or not? Is Jesus in your life? Yes? Or no?

Because if He's in your life and you have the light,

then you would be okay. Oh I'm still struggling. Yeah,

it's fine to still struggle. But do you have the

light or not? Do you know your sauce or not?

Important question? The Christs come to negate the prophets. Did

he come to you know? The Christ come to white

things clean? You know? Oh, guys, I've come to show

you a new way. So all the Lord that you

be lived before this, no need, no need, you do friends,

Matthew five seventeen twenty. Thanks Passu. Even earlier in my notes,

let me read, okay, Matthew five seventeen twenty. What does

it say? He says here? Do not think that I

come to destroy the Law or the prophets. I did

not come to destroy, but to fulfill. For surely I

say to you, till heaven and Earth pass away, one

job or titail will by no means pass from the

law to always fulfilled. You know, God doesn't go back

on his words. So the law is still there. The

Ten Commonments is still there. Just because we receive Jesus

in our lives doesn't mean that, oh, I got a

free pass. Now I can do whatever I want and

He's going to be okay, because all Christ is there. No,

the lawy is stay around her, guys, the law is

stay around her right. For whoever therefore breaks one of

the least of these commandments and teaches men, so shall

be called least in the Kingdom of Heaven. But whoever

does and teaches them, he shall be called great in

the king of Heaven. You still have to teach the law,

still have to tell people friends, you're still in a

commit your life to Christ. You cannot treat Jesus like

a GETU of jail free card. We still got to

commit ourselves and try our best. Yes, there are struggles that,

but we still have to because the law is still there.

For I say to you, unless your righteousness exceeds the

righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, you're by no means

enter the Kingdom of heaven. This is very clear because

they tried their best to fulfill the law. But God

knows what's in your hearts. Right, he didn't come. He

came to fulfill it. And by true fulfillment, he came

to show us a way to live. Very important. That's

why we say have to follow. What would Jesus do?

That's the question we ask ourselves every day. Yes, when

I face a challenge and a problem, when I face

a moral situation, when I change, face a challenge in

my family, when I face people asking me for advice,

first question, what would Jesus do? First? Stop process? What

would the Bible say about this? Not what my mother? Okay,

my mother taught me, Thank God she you know, my

late mom. She knows the Bible. So something she said,

I checked by. I'll kill a line. Oh what does

that guru say? Oh? What does this person say about business?

Do you know that the Bible teaches us a lot

about a lot of things, business, relationship, a lot of things.

Everything is here, But what are we listening to? What

do we subscribe to? Right? It comes one full circle? No,

Jesus being the light, it comes one full circle. Let

me read some scripture I'm gonna d asson ready, Psalm

twenty seven one says, the Lord is my light and

my salvation. Whom shall I fear? That's why I say,

Do you know who is in your life or not?

Do you need to be afraid when you go to challenge?

If you know that Christ is there? If you you

don't need to. You don't need to. Christ is there

with you. He's not just only here on Sunday when

you come for service and Fiel goose bums when we

are worshiping. No, when you go home after this, Christ

is still with you. The Word of God is still

with you. Are you tapping into it? Oh? No, I

Who are you pulling strength from? Two individuals I share

why I say, if you need to hide things. If

you need to high things in darkness, be very careful.

Because God is light. In him, there's no darkness. If

we say that we have fellowship with Him and walk

in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth.

in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and

the blood of Jesus Christ cleanses us from all sin.

Every time they are able, or every time you know

they're safe from certain things, they will mark on their road.

So when they look at their rod, like Okay, I'm

going to a challenge now, but I remember this is

what happened is what happened. I overcome this. This is

what happened. Just now as we're worshiping. You want to know.

And I was thinking to myself. We got all young

people serving here, right, got Passa, Steven, got Sharon, got Grace,

got different ones here. And I have the privilege of

knowing them personally. Let me tell you why they're so

fervently serving because I see lives of testimony. You should

talk to Passus Steven, what God did you know when

he was still deciding should I plant not shol I

coming full time and not? Oh? You know, you know

men's metternal is okay? You know what, I go work

out there and I go do He got a very

powerful testimony about how God now white his dad's bankruptcy clean.

Do you know how passes Steve was like, you know what,

if I come full time, I'm gonna earn money to

pay for this. God gave him the answer because God

called him full time. I see so many testimonies, so

many things. Testimony is not devoid of testings. You know,

testimonies thing means you cannot testing. This is why you're faithful.

for so the Lord commanded us, I've set you as

light to the gentiles, that you should be salvation to

the ends of the earth. For those of us here

we know who Christ is. Praise God. We have an answer. Yeah,

someone's still learning, still growing. Sometimes we need the encouragement

of the homes, the church. We need the encouragement availa believers.

That's fine. Think about people who have no such answer

in their lives. That's worse. Right now, I'm sharying you,

you know, I mean someone, Oh, I feel bad. You

know it's okay. You know Jesus. Praise God. You know

who to call upon after this? About your friends who

don't know Jesus. How, that's why we have to be like.

We have to be like to them. The scripture continues

to say, Now, when the gentiles heard this, they were

glad and glorified the word of the Lord. As many

is the condemnation that the light has come into the world,

and men love darkness redder than light because their deeds

challenging some people's thought processes right now, but a lot

beyond time, we come to a place where we oh,

you know, this world is grey, and now you know what,

God use Why did Jesus use the the analogy of light?

Have you thought about it? Why did he use the

analogy of light? Because the world is a dark place?

Like now, how you see how dark is it? Passe being? Well,

we've got a lot of divorces now happening. We've got

a lot of different things happening. A lot of people

confused with their identity. You know, families are broken, things

are messed up. It's getting more more evil. Don't need

to go far. Just look at Netflix. You will know

the media and the influence and everything else. And and

here we are trying to say, oh, you know, not

everything is black and white. It's all gray one. You know,

it's permissible. Be very careful when you have those thoughts.

Because we were living in the dark world. But then

Christ came. He came to be the light in this place.

He came to bring light to this world. Friends, are

need your help. You've got your phones with you, right,

your phone's got touchlight, gotta can you switch on your

touch light. Don't worry, I'm not gonna I'm not gonna

perform because I cannot sing. I'm not gonna do a

concept here? Can all of you do it? I know

some of you are like, it is the only time

Those areas that are a bit dark? Can you help

many dark moments in my life, in our lives as

husband and wife, because every time out there we look

for this candela. It's the biggest candle. It's not easy

to find. And then got color someone you know, you know,

this morning I was looking for it and then my

wife hidated it. Then like huh, you need it. I'm like, yeah,

I need use it again. And I made a jokeler,

you know my my I said that, and then my

son was like, oh that then can he be the

family island and not you pass it down to me?

And I'm like, okay, sure if it survives that. You know,

I don't know whether we call a picture or not

about darkness, and like, I'm not sharing this scripture to

make you feel bad now, because can I Guys, there's

no condemnation in Christ. This is why he didn't condemn

the lady, because there was something more important than just punishment.

It was a changed life. How many people do you

think this lady will have talked to to say, I

met this guy and I was in my loss or

lowers and I almost lost my life, but he came.

He gave me second chance. This guy named Jesus. I

think it's worth a shot to listen to him. Do

you think she will go to all the perfect people

and tell them about him? No, I think she will

go to everybody who's in her situation. How many more

people who are stuck in a dark situation would have

seen the light and come to the light. That's why

It's so important for us believers to firstly know who

is the light in our lives. You gotta know because

only Christ can help you out of the dark moment.

Only Christ can. You got to call upon him. But

after you come out, after you come out from the

dark moment, you need to know that you have the

light now and that you can shine light into people's lives.
