You're listening to a message to go from acts Church.
-
We hope this message will light up your day.
-
First to prayer, then to missions. That's the title of
-
today's word. First to prayer, then to missions. You like
-
the slides, Okay, Praise the Lord. I do too. You
-
know it's so good when you learn something. This is
-
slide Goal. It is not power Point because PowerPoint I
-
got the same slides I've been using for the last
-
fifteen years. So praise God. There's something new and it
-
looks nice and color it matches right. Okay, Praise the Lord.
-
I did not work that, but it so happened. Okay,
-
let's get to it. Matthew twenty eight Versus nineteen and twenty.
-
Go therefore, go therefore and make this of all the nations,
-
baptizing them in the name of the Father and of
-
the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to
-
observe all things that I've commanded you. And lo, I
-
am with you even to the end of the age.
-
So go therefore, after everything that has happened, after all
-
that you've seen, after all the heart ache, after all
-
the blessing, Jesus says, go therefore, so your life and
-
my life counts for something. Everything that you have gone
-
through has a reason. Wow, the bad stuff, especially the
-
bad stuff. The good stuff. Yeah, but you know why
-
we don't concern it the good stuff because the world
-
is out to get us, and quite often we experience
-
more bad stuff than we do good. But if we
-
experience a lot of good stuff more than we experience
-
the bad stuff, praise the Lord. But if we don't,
-
it's okay, it's normal, all right. So after all these things,
-
Jesus is now saying, go therefore, Hey, why are you
-
so frustrated? Why do you think you can't handle it?
-
Because you feel go therefore? Uh, things work out well
-
for you. Go therefore, and so that becomes a mission statement.
-
So how many of us know that when we are
-
building things? Building things? If you are in a construction industry,
-
there is a mission statement. Your company usually has a
-
mission statement. But do you know that for building and
-
making things and progress seeing there's also something else which
-
is very important. It's called the method statement. How many
-
of you have heard there's such a thing as a
-
method statement? Okay, at least one praise the Lord, because
-
you cannot accomplish a mission without having the method you see,
-
because the mission is the order, this is what you
-
need to do. But just saying this is what you
-
need to do doesn't mean it gets done. First, there
-
is the what you gotta do, and very important is
-
the how you're going to do it. Many of us
-
stop with the what are we going to do? And
-
then from there I don't know where to go. You
-
know those days that there was no ways we had
-
this book, this stick for kl thistic big book Singapore
-
is a smaller book because Singapore very smaller. Singapore's book
-
was smaller than this scales book very large. And you
-
know what's the worst thing about that book? It will
-
connect you from page one to page sixty, C ten,
-
page sixty and you go to page sixty, then you
-
look at A ten and then you see the word
-
from C. Sixty. When you needed to find your way,
-
you had to spend one hour studying the map, first
-
flipping from one page to the other page and connecting
-
the road, and very often that the roads did not connect.
-
You don't believe me, how many of you have tried
-
to find SS two stroke seventy two? Have you tried?
-
You can find SS two stroke seventy seventy one, seventy three,
-
seventy four, seventy five, seventy six, all on the left side.
-
You know where's SS two stroke seventy two in SS nineteen?
-
Do you think I'm joking? You go, you go and check.
-
SS two strokes seventy two is in section nineteen? Is
-
in SS nineteen. I know because I used the book
-
trying to find it and I couldn't get there. Praise
-
the Lord for ways because now at least and ways
-
also not so great. Okay, Ways is okay if the
-
road is traveling on the straight road. But very often
-
ways will tell you to turn right, but actually it
-
doesn't tell you the road right goes like this, when
-
you've taken the wrong road, then ony your eyes, I'm
-
the wrong way. Okay. So what it's got to do
-
with a message absolutely nothing. Okay, does doing make us
-
successful or not? Just because you do what you're told
-
to do, does it make you successful? We have to
-
consider very carefully what we do because doing doesn't necessarily
-
make us successful. It just makes us do us. But
-
it's okay because scriptures be a doer of the world.
-
So you just do there some blessing. But whether you
-
get that level of success is really questionable. But having
-
said that, scripture says go. Therefore all right, and what
-
does it tell us to do? Well? There are some
-
tasks involved. Let's take note of the tasks. Firstly, scripture
-
tells us to go. When scripture tells us to go,
-
it does not tell us to stay. You gotta understand
-
go means get up out of bed. A lot of
-
people stay in their spiritual beds. They don't get up
-
and go. Do you know, as long as you walk
-
out of the house, you qualify. As long as you
-
get up out of your bed and walk out of
-
your house, uh, you qualify. You see, many of us
-
think missions is uh, you know you have to go
-
to a different place. Well, eventually, that's what you must
-
aim for. But it has to have a starting point,
-
and the starting point is get up and go. If
-
you stay in God's blessing, it will not remain a
-
blessing for too long, you say, because God's blessing is
-
never stagnant. God's blessing is to take you from one
-
glory to the next. Because when that blessing has seen
-
its lifespan, you need a new blessing. If that was
-
if that was not the case scripture was would not
-
have st from glory to glory. You see, we need
-
to be filled with the spirit. We need to move
-
from one level to the next, so we need to go.
-
The second thing that Scripture is telling us is to
-
make disciples. Scripture says, make disciples. Can you make disciples
-
even before somebody is saved? Praise the Lord? You say yes,
-
because it's true. And I will share some testimonies where
-
I made disciples long before they became bla. So you
-
need to make disciple. What is making a disciple? Making
-
a disciple is sharing the ways of Jesus and encouraging
-
somebody else to follow those ways. How many of us
-
like to follow the right thing? How many of us
-
like to follow the wrong thing? Truth be told, it's
-
fun to follow the wrong thing. How many of you
-
used to love to eat vegetables all the time. That's
-
the right thing, right. How many of us know that
-
the worst tasting vegetables are ours best for our help? Unfortunately? Yeah,
-
you know, have you heard the statement A spoonful of
-
sugar makes the medicine go down? Trust me, I know
-
exactly what that means. You know, I had this skin
-
disease when I was young, you know, it was like
-
an egzeamer. And then this somebody told me, Okay, I
-
told my mom, you got to buy these three Manilla ducks. No,
-
these two Manilla ducks. Manilla ducks are ducks that are big, okay.
-
And then you divide it into three portions, and then
-
I'll give you all the herbs. Then what you're supposed
-
to do is, every day, for three days, take one
-
third of the duck, put one third of the herbs
-
into this big pot and boil it. You start boiling
-
in the morning, and by evening it will be ready.
-
You know, one big pot, this big down to half
-
a cup by evening. Oh my goodness, the medicine was
-
worse than the sickness. It was horrible. I cried. I
-
was ten years old. I cried and cried and cried.
-
My mom had to bribe me. That's how bad it was.
-
Making disciples, what has that got to do? Well, sometimes
-
you don't have all the facts in line. But what
-
you do do is you do what God tells you
-
to do. Make disciples. Next, baptizing, we just heard testimony
-
about baptizing. I was baptized in the temple part River
-
Templess part not exactly the cleanest place, but I live
-
there's a sanctifying, you know, anointing. As we went down
-
into that water and came up. I don't know how
-
many people were up at the top, you know what
-
I mean. But now you get baptizing pools, right, how
-
many of you will go to Templess path to get baptized?
-
Baptizing And the next thing is teaching them? Teaching is
-
something that is you know, do you know that we
-
are all teachers, but you know that teachers are very
-
special calling. Every time you are helping someone, what are
-
you doing? You're teaching them to get better? So stop
-
fighting it. Scripture has already told us that we are
-
to do this, we are to do Oh I'm not
-
a teacher, then you're not a human being because you
-
know that as long as you walk, somebody is learning
-
from you. The thing is are they learning good things?
-
Or are they learning bad things? So, whether you and
-
I realize it, we are teaching. So is there something more? Oh?
-
This is very good? Thank you so much. You're following
-
following me? Okay? So is there something more? Is there
-
something more than the mission statement? There is? And you know,
-
the lovely thing about Jesus is he doesn't lead us
-
and leave us. When I say, you know, have you
-
heard the song? He didn't bring us this far to
-
drown us. There's a song you know. He doesn't lead
-
us into the water and then after let us drown,
-
ask Peter. Peter will tell you Lord, if that's you
-
can I walkwn. You know. The one thing you can
-
say about Peter is because he was impulsive. He did
-
many things that nobody else ever did. If you need
-
to be impulsive, be impowers, say on the side of
-
listening to Jesus, because then you will experience much more
-
than the paralysis of analysis. Have you heard that one?
-
You analyze and analyze all the other apostles are so
-
busy analyzing you cannot walk on water us. So they
-
didn't know. But Peter was okay, here I go, and
-
he walked. But don't be like Peter who turns his
-
eyes away, because then you get into trouble. Okay, there
-
is something else that Jesus told the disciples besides the
-
mission statement. Do you know that Jesus also gave them
-
a method statement? Are you aware? Look at the first
-
chapter of the Book of Acts, reading from verse four
-
and five. After a after being assembled together with them,
-
he that's Jesus, commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem,
-
but to wait for the promise of the Father, which
-
he said, you have heard from me. For John truly
-
baptized with water. But you shall be baptized with the
-
Holy Spirit not many days from now. And then it
-
says in verse eight. But you shall receive power when
-
the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you shall
-
be witnesses to me in Jerusalem and in all Judea
-
and Samaria and to the ends of the I want
-
you to know that unless we have the method statement,
-
the mission statement will not have its full impact. When
-
I first became a believer and I started sharing the
-
Word of God to others, I only knew so much more.
-
People came to the Lord quicklyar with this little bit
-
that I knew, than with now all the many years
-
of studying, because scripture says go I went. After I
-
got saved, three months later, I was baptized in Holy Spirit,
-
and then after that I had to go to Singapore
-
to study. It was kind of scary because you know,
-
you're alone, right, that's the God partner. So sometimes when
-
you go there's nobody around you those days. No internet,
-
Well you find it hard to believe. There was a timer.
-
No internet, Yes, no internet, no social media, no social media.
-
When you went you were alone. Maybe a phone call
-
which is very expensive, or a letter which you would
-
write and receive every one month, two months, three months,
-
if ever you wrote. But unlike today, you run into problem.
-
What's it? Hell, I need somebody help. But those days
-
it wasn't it was. It wasn't like that. So I
-
went to Singapore. I didn't know very much, but I
-
did know this. I didn't know my Jesus, so I
-
shared with people. I told them about Jesus. I told
-
my friends about Jesus. I stayed in a church hostel
-
by the way, a very holy yeah. I stayed in
-
a church hostel every night. This is after school. My
-
school was about one and a half hour's bus ride,
-
so I stayed in Jurome. But my school was in
-
Pye Labor area. But he road think one and a
-
half hours. So I go to school in the morning.
-
I reached that at seven. I'm in school until seven.
-
Because I took part in every activity known to mankind.
-
I was a school tennis coach. You know, I left
-
at seven, reached back my hostel at eight thirty, have land,
-
have lunch, at dinner, you know, wash my clothes, do
-
my studying until about midnight. Then midnight I go back
-
to church. You know why because we used to pray
-
for deliverance crases. So I will be praying with the
-
pastor from twelve to maybe about three four o'clock, get
-
another two three hours sleep, go back to school the
-
next day. And I was doing this every day. So
-
every day when I went back to school, I was
-
telling my friends about how the power of the Lord
-
had saved people, and how people were being delivered and
-
how people were being healed. I used to tell him
-
this every day, and you know, they get so free,
-
which is very good because with fear they begin to
-
Then I can tell him, hey, fear the Lord. It's
-
more important to fear the Lord. And then I share
-
with them. There was one particular case where this guy,
-
he was charmed by three priests. So when he was
-
being delivered, the three priests came to the gate of
-
the church, and the three priests a moment they stepped
-
foot to try and come in the church. All three
-
of them fainted the ground they got up and they
-
read this. I saw her, they got up and he
-
ran away, and of course, needless to say, the person
-
was delivered. So I used to tell this to my
-
friends every day. I had no idea that this was
-
going to have any impact on them at all. See
-
you and I, we don't know whether we're going to
-
have an impact on people when we share the word
-
of God with them. We think, I, you know, just
-
tell the word of God. That's the end of the story.
-
But do you know that wherever you go, whoever you meet,
-
whatever you say to someone has value. If you want
-
to know, if you've got to believe it so that
-
when you speak it, you know your speaking life. Many
-
years later, this is thirty years later, I connect with
-
one friend on the internet and then he tells me Terrence,
-
guess what what? He says, I'm a pastor. Ah, you're
-
a pastor? How did this happen? Then he told me
-
you are to blame. Huh, I'm to blame? What do
-
you mean? He says? I was alone on my yacht.
-
By the way, he was a very rich guy when
-
we were in Singapore. He was the only eighteen year
-
old that owned his own car. It was a Nissan Bluebird.
-
So he was really rich, okay, really really rich. He
-
had his own yacht. How many do you know what
-
a yacht is. It's not a boat. A yacht is
-
like a house on the sea. So he was on
-
his yacht and he said, something happened and I was
-
about to die, and I remembered something you wrote in
-
my autograph book. Do you know what it is? I said,
-
are you kidding? It's been thirty years. Do you think
-
I can remember what I wrote in your autograph book?
-
He says, this is what you wrote. If ever you
-
run into trouble, called on the name of Jesus and
-
he will come and help you. At that moment, when
-
I was about to die, I called on the name
-
of Jesus, and he came on the water and he
-
helped me. When I got back to show, I gave
-
everything up, and I decided to follow him and become
-
his servant. So today he passed us and he's given
-
up all those riches is not important to him. I
-
only found this out thirty years later. I had no
-
idea that simple word was going to have an impact.
-
But you see, I was teaching them about the Lord
-
every day there's another friend, this guy I lived. This guy,
-
his father and mother found me such a great influence because,
-
let me tell you, when I was in why I
-
was also late going back every day because every day
-
I would teach my friends. I call all of them.
-
You don't know, come come, come, let me teach you.
-
I will help you. I will, you know, do what
-
I can to make lively. So I used to teach
-
them every day. And this this guy's parents thought I
-
would be a good influence on their son. So they said,
-
why didn't you come and live with us? So my
-
final year I stayed with them. And you know, I
-
tried to help this friend of mine. Do not do this. Okay,
-
what I'm about to tell you, this is just me.
-
He came up to me one day he said, Terrence,
-
I'm going to fail. So I said, what happens if
-
you fail? So if I fail, I'll have to go
-
into National service and then I can only study again
-
two and a half years later. I don't know if
-
I can do that. So I said then no, no, no,
-
so sorry, I got it the other way from me.
-
He said, I can pass. I can just pass, but
-
that's it. And then two and a half years later
-
before I can move. That's so I just told him,
-
then fail. I said, you're allowed to reaseit. He says, yes,
-
I'm allowed one year. Singapore is a strange placer. You
-
have eleven years of education. You can fail every year.
-
You can start in Standard one and fail every year
-
for eleven years, but you will not go up unless
-
you pass. So there was one guy in Standard six
-
who had failed five years. How old was he He
-
was from five years from five, you know, in terms
-
of age, but he's still incented six every year. Don't pass,
-
then the final year they will tell you please leave.
-
So I was under alall of stress because I had
-
started very late. I could, I couldn't. They did not
-
allow me to fail. If I fail, I'm out. My
-
friend was allowed one time to reason, so he actually failed,
-
but then he studied hard. He did better. He went,
-
He became an officer in the navy, and later on
-
he became a millionaire. Now this guy, I realized and
-
just connected with him a few years ago. He's in Bangkok.
-
He was a very selfish guy when I knew him.
-
But when I went to Bangkok, he says, Terrence, I'm
-
now a Christian. This is you know what I do?
-
Is it When I build my factory, I buy a
-
plot of land by the side of it. Then I
-
put up a church and I gave it to my pastor.
-
When I went to meet with him, he had put
-
up fortunes and he had just finished school. He just said,
-
you know, Terence, I was so sad. I wanted enough
-
money to buy the land, but I had no money
-
to put up the school. But then I got an idea.
-
So I went around talking to my friends and one
-
friend said, now mine, I'll pay for the whole school.
-
So put up the whole school, gave it to the pastor.
-
When I went to meet him for the first time
-
after twenty five years, there were seven students. Last year
-
there were twenty students. Then he told me, Terrence, I
-
bought a product land up north Bangkok in Thailand. I'm
-
putting up another church. So he showed me pictures he
-
put up the church. When he showed me the pictures,
-
three one years later, he's got twenty people. And these
-
are the guys that every day I was sharing with
-
them about what God was doing. And he told me
-
that I had one more friend who who another well
-
to do guy he was a high performing alcoholic. His
-
own words, his own words, high performing alcoholic. What does
-
that mean? It means he get up at nine in
-
the morning taking whiskey. You take coffee, eatake whiskey, but
-
his business booming, goes running after running. You take cook,
-
he takes whiskey. He didn't feel so good when he went.
-
He found out he had cancer of the os vegas. Uh.
-
He was already stage three when they found it on
-
stage four, and this particular operation, only twenty people survived.
-
Twenty percent survive because they have to operate from the back.
-
Too many vital organs in the front. They have to
-
cut him open from the back to get to that cancer.
-
When they cut him open in the back and they
-
got to the cancer, they found that cancer had spread.
-
So he had to operate all through his arms to
-
remove the cancer. He was dying on the table. When
-
he was dying on the table, he heard gospel music
-
and then the Lord appeared to him and say, Haha,
-
your time not yet. I'll go work for you. That operation,
-
which should have killed him, because he did at one
-
point of time code.
-
But.
-
He came out of it in two weeks. He walked
-
out of the hospital he called his subordinate. He says,
-
the business. Now I give it to you. You run
-
the business. I got other things to do. So now
-
he is a missionary throughout Southeast Asia. Do you realize
-
the impact you have on people? And we are worried
-
to go out on missions? Why is it we are worried?
-
Do we feel we are inadequate? Yes we are, Praise
-
the Lord. It is much better to be inadequate than
-
to think you're adequate. It's much better to be able
-
to say, you know, God, I can't do it, but
-
guess what lot Because I cannot do it, you can.
-
So it's already if I fail, but with you I
-
can succeed. You know when I share the word, this
-
is what I pray. Every time you think eloquence makes
-
a difference, it does not. Eloquence will tickle the hearts
-
for five seconds in moments you walk out, It has
-
no impact on your life. But when you realize that
-
because you can't, God can. The Holy Spirit is the
-
one who do it. There is a mission statement. There
-
is a method statement that follows the mission statement. To
-
every given task, there is a how to how do
-
you do it? Hey? Well, in my case it was
-
just do it, not before Nike the time, No, Nike,
-
just do it. What did I know? I only knew
-
what I saw, and every day I would share it.
-
I would tell somebody about that. The very first people
-
that came to the Lord were because one week after
-
I got saved, I told him. They were walking together
-
with me, and I said, do you know this, Jesus
-
loves me. You don't have to worry. It was dark,
-
sky gonna pour any I said, don't worry, you're with me.
-
I have prayed we will get that dry. But every
-
person that goes to the destination and reaches the destination
-
after we set foot through the front door, will be
-
soaking wet. It thundered it. The sky was black like this.
-
Do you know not one drop? We were dry. The
-
moment the last person in my team stepped through the
-
front door, it poured, and everyone that came in after
-
me was thoroughly And these two young guys who saw
-
me and said, hey, it's true what you prayed. I said,
-
that's who God is, and he will answer our press.
-
I want to know more about this God. One of
-
them is a pastor today another one these two teamed
-
up and they shared with a friend of mine. No,
-
he shared with my brother. My brother couldn't stand me, Okay,
-
couldn't stand me, so he fought with me a lot.
-
I couldn't get through to him. But these two guys
-
got through my brother. My brother became a Christian. And
-
then these two guys shared with my good friend. He
-
became a Christian today is a pastor. That guy shared
-
my younger brother. My brother came to the Lord and
-
now he's a pastor. So from that, just that incident,
-
three past us, six people got safe. You know, my
-
first audio job one not one of my first audio jobs.
-
I used to ride the motorbike to the place he
-
was in Quota Damansara. No no, no, no, well somewhere there,
-
not Quota Damansara, but it was Damansara, some place like that.
-
I know, someplace like that. Anyway, every time and again,
-
thank God for the rainer. Every time I reached the amry.
-
The moment I stepped through the front door, it paused.
-
So there was this audit assistant, the girl, she said,
-
you always missed the read. I said, because I believe
-
in Jesus, And I say, I tell you what It's
-
going to rain all day but at the time I'm
-
about to leave, blue skies will appear. And it happened
-
every then, she says, Can I know this Jesus? She
-
also came to the Lord to every given task. There
-
is how to God helps us and equips us to
-
do that which he has instructed us to do. You see,
-
is it me? Do I have some power to stop
-
the r I have no power at all except believing
-
that Jesus will do for us what we ask of
-
him in faith. So you're worried about going on missions?
-
Why are you worried? You don't know how to do?
-
Praise the Lord. That's the best position to be in.
-
I don't know how to do. So God, can you
-
help me to do my pleasure? He says, always his pleasure.
-
You know a lot of people who know how to
-
do things get very little done because they don't need God.
-
So if you know how to do things, then you
-
don't need God. There are many, many people who ever
-
come to so much in their lives. But I'm not safe.
-
They don't know Jesus because they are self sufficient or
-
your self sufficient. There is one thing you'll never be
-
able to do. You'll never be able to save yourself
-
that only God can do, only Jesus can do? Do
-
you know that God wants us to succeed? So you
-
do not know how to go out for missions? You
-
don't know what to do. It's all right because God
-
can do it through you. I mean, did I know
-
what I was doing was missions? I have absolutely no idea?
-
Do you know? Missions also is going to help people
-
who need help? Not necessarily what you think you know
-
how to do, but what they want you to do.
-
We ran in a mission strip to the X number
-
of years ago. Do you know what we were told
-
to do? We were told to help sell secondhand clothes
-
to raise funds for the school. That was missions? What
-
head of the church going to sell closer? Hey, look,
-
do you think God is looking at me and saying
-
this is Elder Terrence. God does not look at our titles.
-
He looks at our heart. So if we can submit
-
and do that simple thing which we were requested to do,
-
God looks at it and it's pleased. Do you know
-
that there were some people in our party who were
-
not pleased because they started saying, oh is this missions?
-
In the missions? I've gone before? I pray for the sick.
-
I pray for this. I pray for the dead. Ay
-
ay ay aye aye aye aye. There's no place in God.
-
But if you have to go and pray for someone,
-
pray for them, they will be healed. If you have
-
to go and share with somebody, go and share with them,
-
they will receive your word. But if you have to
-
go and sweep the church, then sweep the church, because
-
more people will come to the Lord seeing you sweep
-
the church than for all the words you can say.
-
Do you know I saw I saw you sweeping the
-
church just now because there was some marks. You know
-
what I thought, a man after God's own her? Do
-
you realize this is what Elder mabeled in myself? If
-
you and I'm not singing songs about what we do,
-
but I'm just telling you what we believe. Cannot bend,
-
the knees are so stiff, get down, cannot get up.
-
But if you remember dvcsre if we see something on
-
the carpet, struggle, struggle, struggle, we will go down and
-
we will pick it up. Because you know what God looks,
-
and he likes neatness. So if you can like neatness,
-
because God likes neatness, and God sees you struggle, struggle,
-
he will give your strength, your niece strength now to
-
bend down someone to help pick up other rubbish. He's okay,
-
So is he going to make a difference now? No,
-
But I do know that one day I'll meet someone
-
in heaven that says, you know, I came to the
-
Lord because I saw you bend down to pick a
-
piece of death. Because at that point of time, I
-
was thinking to myself, who would even care? But when
-
I saw you care, something spoke Jesus to my heart.
-
That's what we are failing to understand. But each and
-
remember I said, you're teaching. Whether you see, whether you don't.
-
God wants us to succeed. Do you know that God
-
thinks big. He believes you I we can do it.
-
That's why he says go. Therefore, then he says, hey,
-
you're not alone. It was not Michael Jackson was saying.
-
It's all first, because the Bible was saying that. Jesus said,
-
I will never leave you nor forsake. You are not alone.
-
Go to Jerusalem and wait, I'm going to give you power.
-
I'm going to and I'll prove it. By the end
-
of this you'll see that This was quite amazing. Okay,
-
So how does the Holy Spirit do this? How does
-
the Holy Spirit give us power? In John fourteen twenty
-
six fourteen verse twenty six, this says, but the helper,
-
the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name,
-
he will teach you some things. Are you sure? Because
-
there are lots of people say I don't know a lot.
-
I only know some things. So does the Holy Spirit
-
teach you a little bit? What does scripture say? Teach
-
you all things and bring to remembrance some things. Most
-
of the word we forget, right? Do you know that
-
when you are called upon to recollect the Word of
-
God at the time when you need it, the Holy
-
Spirit will bring it to mine. Scripture says, now I
-
read it like how it should be read. Okay.
-
But the helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will
-
send in mine he will teach you all things and
-
bring to remembrance your remembrance all things that I said
-
to you.
-
Jesus. Are you when you read the scripture? You must
-
know Jesus doesn't speak like we speak. No, He's very
-
godly the way he speaks. So I don't know what
-
that is to you. But when I imagine. This is
-
how I imagine. It's a nice, soothing, deep strong voice.
-
You listen. Also, if you're good, I know that. Okay,
-
the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name,
-
he is going to be the one to help you.
-
You know. Praise God for the Holy Spirit. How many
-
of you are not baptized in the Holy Spirit. That
-
means you don't speak in tongues. If you're not, come
-
and speak to your leaders and ask them to pray
-
for you so that you can receive this power which
-
God promised us. I want you to know. Scripture says
-
that God will bring to remembrance. Right, Let's look at Peter.
-
How many of you during the Gospel times ever heard
-
Peter called scripture? Think about it, Oh thou the Christ
-
has sudden living Got that was not scripture? What was that?
-
That was God inspired? It's scripture for us today. But
-
at that point of time he was not quoting scripture.
-
Right.
-
How many times before the baptism of the Holy Spirit
-
did Peter quote scripture? This is what I mean that
-
when I say I prepare the word, God opens my
-
understanding and it really gets excited, at least for me.
-
I don't voute you. The answer is twice two scripture
-
two verses once before the baptism of the Holy Spirit.
-
For it is written, this is he saying. In he
-
was actually quoting. If you look at Acts chapter one,
-
Peter was quoting Psalm sixty nine, verse twenty five says,
-
for it is written in the us Psalms, let his
-
dwelling place be desolate, and let no one live in it. Okay.
-
And the second scripture he quoted was from Psalms one
-
to nine was eight let another take his office. You
-
can actually find this in x chapter one. Okay.
-
So now.
-
They went to the upper room, because after the mission,
-
there's the method. What was the method? Go to the
-
upper room and wait? You think they just wait? I
-
look at you, you look at me. One hundred or
-
twenty of them just looking at each other. Is that
-
what happened? They're praying, God, you told us to do this.
-
We're waiting. We're still waiting. We believe what you say.
-
We believe what you say. We believe what you say.
-
After Theism of the Holy Spirit, Peter quoted ten scripture
-
where did he ever learn this? In Cts. Two seventeen
-
to twenty one X two twenty five to twenty eight
-
and x thirty four. Peter is quoting scripture. You must
-
understand that all of them learned the Word of God
-
as they were growing up, because that is the culture.
-
The culture is they were taught the Word of God.
-
But if he knew it so well, why is it
-
he never ever quoted it in the gospels. But after
-
the baptism of the Holy Spirit Peter started to talk scripture,
-
and then after that he started to explain the scripture.
-
You see, there is a big difference five hundred percent
-
more after the baptism of the Holy Spirit, five hundred
-
percent more two verses before the baptism, ten verses after
-
immediately after. Now, for some of you that means not
-
cause your heart to jump. For me, that's really interesting
-
because it is telling me there is a great and
-
huge difference without the baptism of the Holy Spirit and
-
after the baptism of the Holy Spirit. One of the
-
greatest powers that the Holy Spirit brings upon you, Number
-
one is the ability to quote scripture. So do you
-
know why it is important to read your word? Because
-
you got to get it in your head. You've got
-
to read it, because only when you read it he
-
can call it to memory. So I cannot quote. I'm
-
very bad at quoting scripture versus. Okay, but do you know,
-
I know which scripture is there, but I cannot tell. Oh,
-
it's you know Acts two versus. You know this, But
-
I know the scripture exists. So I actually have to
-
refer to something to help me find the scripture. I
-
know the scripture is there for me. That's that's the
-
way it works for me. But praise the Lord. If
-
you can memorize scripture. I have that difficulty. But there's
-
a big difference when the Holy Spirit gets involved five
-
hundred percent more. But the help of the Holy Spirit,
-
whom the fart you know what said in my name,
-
he will teach you all things and bring to your
-
rememberence all things that I said to you. So now
-
not only will scripture talk about well, he's talking to
-
them because they only had the Old Testament. Then he's saying,
-
and the Holy Spirit will help them remember what Jesus
-
has said. Now we have the Old Testament, we have
-
the New Testament. So the Holy Spirit will help us
-
remember everything everything. When you're in trouble, don't call Mother
-
Mary because she's not going to speak no words of wisdom.
-
It is only the Holy Spirit. It's a bad joke.
-
Those of you may some of you may not know
-
the song. Okay, it's from the Beatles. You don't know
-
the Beatles. It's about okay, So how do you know
-
Jesus is true? And this is where I think we
-
must remember. Jesus is the only one who has changed
-
lives so completely that people were willing to die for him.
-
The disciples before they knew Jesus were cowardly men. Peter
-
denied Jesus three times. When Jesus was taken away, none
-
of his disciples showed up. None of his disciples showed up,
-
none of his family showed You know how alone Jesus was.
-
His brothers and his sisters did not go to plead
-
for his life. There's no scripture to say they came
-
before Pilot and say, please don't kill my brother. There's
-
no scripture that which says Mary came and pled for
-
the life of the sun. Nobody. He was totally alone.
-
But do you know that after the baptism of the
-
Holy Spirit. Look at what Peter he quotes the scripture
-
that he says that same Jesus who was such a
-
good man. You killed, you did bad things to him,
-
and it cut their heart? And what did they say?
-
What should we do? Repect that day? Five thousand came
-
to the Lord. You know, whenever in this world has
-
got a nasty way of trying to make it seem
-
like your Jesus and my Jesus is irrelevant. You know that.
-
Look at the Olympics. Now, I'm not one that bothers
-
too much with paintings and statues and stuff like that,
-
because we don't believe in that. But you see, what
-
they did at the Olympics was a symbolic act of
-
ridiculing Jesus. They tried to make Jesus small. You know
-
why because France is a country that does not like
-
anyone to have a faith in anything other than its government.
-
So in a way, it's quite socialistic and communistic in
-
its beliefs. So it is trying to tear Christianity down,
-
at least that's what I believe. But the fact that
-
the matter is that they can never make Jesus irrelevant.
-
They cannot make Jesus irrelevant because when people come to
-
know the Lord, when they get baptized in the Holy
-
Spirit and endued with that power from on high, you
-
cannot scare him, just like you couldn't scare Peter. After that,
-
what if Peter say, I'm not worthy to die the
-
same way my Lord has died, So you want to
-
crucify me, do it upside down? For then I see
-
the world right side up. History tells us these were
-
the words of Peter, even as he was crucified upside
-
down he and his wife because he refused to die
-
the same way Jesus died. He did not want to
-
ridicut jesus death. This was a man who denied the Lord.
-
But now standing up and say you killed him. It's
-
you you shouted for his death. Repent very bold. It
-
wasn't only Peter, it was the other apostles as well.
-
What made the difference? You see, unless the understanding and
-
belief is true, you will never submit to it. If
-
Jesus was not true, the apostles would never have given
-
their life. Why did they look at Paul man? Paul
-
was killing the Christians. In the end, he says, you
-
want to take my head, go have it, but you
-
cannot have my heart, my soul because it's to the Lord.
-
So you have my head. So what and he gave
-
his life for Jesus. Look at the change lives of
-
the disciples from cowering, cowardly men to giants of faith
-
and service. So what has all this got to do
-
with missions? Let's sum it up. Okay, all these things
-
that I've said, what is he going to do with missions? Hey, guys,
-
we start first knowing Jesus. Right, how many of us
-
here believe us? Okay, almost all the hands went up.
-
We start first knowing Jesus. You like the slight fish,
-
nice fisher. After we know Jesus, we listen to his
-
command to go. Get up out of bed man. Every
-
place that is not your home is a goal going
-
into all the world. You know, when we go to missions,
-
we go to other nations, we go to different places.
-
Why do we call it mission because it was part
-
of the Great Commission, the mission statement. So you go
-
and after we listen to his command to go, always
-
know that he provided us with the help we need.
-
So you don't know how to do it? Praised You know,
-
whenever you don't know something in the Lord, Praise the Lord.
-
It's the time you're going to find out. You ask
-
God to help you. There is no way you will
-
not learn. Yeah. Now, we may not know what to say.
-
We may not know what to say. I can tell you.
-
The other day, I met a man, first time I'm
-
meeting him, and I prayed before I went to see him.
-
These were my first words to him. You are a
-
person of knowledge and authority. You have worked in the
-
highest capacities of organization, and you don't like people to
-
tell you stories. So I'm not gonna waste time with you.
-
I'm going to tell you what the Lord put in
-
my heart, and the Lord put in my heart. This
-
you must forgive. First time I'm meeting him, these were
-
my first words to him. You must forgive, I say,
-
because I'm also older. I got no time to waste,
-
so we understand one another. He appreciated that, you know,
-
because really, I got no time to waste. I come
-
to tell you something that will help you. I did
-
not come to listen to what you have to say,
-
because I did not come to get help from you.
-
I came to help you. So I shared with him,
-
and he agreed. So a door is open for us
-
to work. There was another man that I met and
-
I said, did the doctor did the doctors tell you
-
you're going to die because everybody doesn't talk about it.
-
So I told him, well, the doctors did say you're
-
going to pass away soon. Let me tell you. Jesus
-
wants you. Do you want him? And you know he
-
had said some things, so I said, Lord, he said,
-
he wants to see you before he goes. So what
-
do I tell him? Said Badminton? Huh Badminton? Say yeah, Badminton?
-
Thought for it. Well, then I understood. So I went
-
to see him and say, hey, you like badminton. Yeah,
-
I like badminton. Okay, Jesus always served the shuttle to you.
-
He's waiting for you to hit it back to him.
-
If you don't hit it back to him, he's got
-
no way to respond to you. Game over. Now, I
-
ask you, do you want to receive Jesus christis Lord
-
and Savior that is serving the shuttle back to him.
-
He said yes, he accepted the Lord. Recently he passed away.
-
He went to be with the Lord. This is God.
-
This is what he tells you to do. The Holy Spirit.
-
We'll give you the words to say that. He helps
-
you recall the word. I mean, you know, the word
-
is truth. Jesus loves you, man. He wants you with
-
him in heaven. For God to love the world that
-
he gave his only book concern, and whosoever believes in him.
-
She's not perish, but ever lasting life. Do you want life?
-
You know you can be straight with them. We speak
-
of what we know, I experience and what we have
-
seen Jesus do. There was another man dying of cancer,
-
and so many people had witnessed to him. He did
-
not want to receive the Lord. So I just told
-
him as if my sister had cancer. Just before she
-
passed away. She said, Terence, I do not know what
-
else to do. I said, You've done everything you need
-
to do because despite your pain, despite everything you're going through,
-
you have not denied Jesus name, and you still have
-
Jesus name on your lips. And when you go and
-
see him, he's going to receive you into his kingdom.
-
And my sister was comforted. Then I looked at this
-
man and I said, this same Jesus that received my
-
sister into his loving care wants to receive you. Will
-
you give your life to Jesus? He said, yes, this
-
is what I tell people. Now, you got people who
-
need to be saved, and you're having difficulty with them.
-
I don't mind coming to help because I will just
-
tell it like it is. I got no more face
-
to lose. After sixty years, I've lost so much. Your
-
face now skin and actually doesn't look like skin and
-
bones but really bones. Now call the face gone. It's okay.
-
It's okay to lose face. God never asks us to
-
keep our face. He ask us to keep up faith,
-
not to keep our face, you know. So you just
-
need to tell what you've seen Jesus do in your life,
-
that's all. He's not asking you to create something that
-
has not been created before unless he has asked you.
-
But he's just asking you to wit about him. So
-
when you go for missions, why are you afraid? God
-
saved you? Right? You only need to tell that to somebody.
-
He saved me. You got nothing else to save. That's
-
all you got. That's all you need. Do you know that?
-
It's not profound, right, nothing spectacular about it. Hey, Jesus
-
saved me. He'll save you good enough. Now, that's the
-
truth one. That's what witness is all about. That's what
-
missions is all about. Because the prophet is never welcome
-
in his own home. So the reason why we go
-
for missions is because you see the people around them,
-
but they don't want to listen. They want somebody from
-
outside to come and tell them exactly the same thing
-
these people told them. But because the people come from outside, yes,
-
I will believe. Isn't it true? Hey, My brothers didn't
-
come to the Law because I was sharing with them.
-
They came to Lord because somebody from the outside shared
-
with them. Isn't it weird? But that's just the way
-
it is. Not So please missions man. It's not that
-
you only go for missions during this time. Missions Man
-
is an emphasisman where we try and we will share
-
with you about missions, why it's important to go. And
-
if you get the opportunity to go, go man. You
-
don't need to worry about what to say, because the
-
Bible says, in that very hour, God will give you
-
what to say. In that very hour, He will tell
-
you what to do. You don't need to tell somebody
-
else's story. Tell your stories. Just tell your stories. Tell
-
what you've seen Him say and do for you, and
-
that's all the Holy Spirit will convict. And I'll end
-
with this John twelve thirty two. And if I am
-
lifted up from the earth, will draw all people's unto myself.
-
You see, when you are talking about Jesus, what are
-
you doing. You're lifting up his name. You lift up
-
his name because you're sharing with someone about the law
-
of lords in the King of Kings, and because of that,
-
he will help you reach out and people will get saved.
-
Praise the Lord, and with that that's the end of
-
the world. I hope it blessed you as much as
-
it bless me to share it with you. God is true,
-
God is true to his word, and he will do it.
-
Praise the Lord.
