You're listening to a message to go from at church.
-
We hope this message will light up your day.
-
First to prayer, then to missions. First to prayer, then
-
to missions. Remember the old butter advertisement, First to better
-
then to school. How many of you are old enough
-
to remember that? Some of you don't want to put
-
up your hands right because you don't want us to
-
know how old you are. But anyway, there there's a slogan. First, yeah,
-
but now we're not going to go, but you're going
-
to go to prayer before we get to missions. So
-
you know, we saw this scripture on the screen just now,
-
Matthew twenty eight, ninety to twenty. And it seems like
-
every time I come, I'm sharing something from this scripture.
-
Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing
-
them in the name of the Father and the Son
-
and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all
-
things that I've commanded you. And lo, I am with
-
you always, even to the end of the age. Why
-
is it that we constantly are talking about Matthew twenty eight.
-
Why is it? Do you have a sense that the
-
world is in need of you and I to fulfill
-
what Matthew twenty eight is because Jesus is coming soon,
-
and he's coming back real soon. How many of me?
-
And I don't mean to scare you, I don't mean
-
to make you lose any sleep, But do you know
-
how close this world is to World War three? Have
-
you any idea you could literally go to sleep tonight
-
and tomorrow world War three has started. That's how close?
-
Because we have a lot of crazies in charge. Yeah,
-
there are a lot of crazy people in charge of
-
the world at this point of time who have only
-
their own interest at heart. Do you need me to
-
name them? Not necessarily? Not necessary? Throw a stone and
-
you hit one. That's how it is, all right, So
-
God knows what he is talking about when he tells
-
us to go therefore. You know, we have never really
-
or how often? And I'm just thinking of doing my
-
hand watching too much Donald Trump? But you know now
-
this head okay? Yeah, how many of you know that
-
this word go therefore therefore is very important in our
-
lives and we sometimes miss out and the importance of
-
some of these simple words. Therefore, what does it mean
-
to go therefore? Let me break it down. Go in
-
spite of in spite of your troubles. Go because of
-
your troubles, Go in a fantastic time of your life,
-
when everything is coming up, roses and birds are singing
-
in the air, Go and life is so wonderful. Go
-
and you've experienced the best, Go and you're experiencing the
-
worst even more so. Go so go. Therefore, everything that
-
we have ever learned and experience up to this point
-
of time makes it worthwhile for us to go, to
-
go and do what to make disciples of all nations?
-
You know, how is a disciple made? A disciple is
-
made by teaching, teaching from your experience. It's not theory
-
that makes disciples. How many of you know that theory
-
does not make disciples? How many of you want to
-
learn the theory of music? Go to a piano and
-
you will not be able to play a single note. Craig,
-
you may know the theory, but that doesn't make you
-
an expert in the instrument. I mean, I have got
-
music theory until grade six. Yeah, all distinction passes. By
-
the way, grade six. My piano playing haven't even taken
-
a grade yet. I learned grade one. So ask me,
-
why is my music theory grade six and my piano
-
playing grade one. This is what you call insanity. But
-
you see, because I know grade six piano, does it
-
mean I can play the piano up to grade six? No?
-
So you see, when you make disciples, it's really not
-
about your theory. It's about your life. It's about your experience.
-
My problem with learning the piano was my teacher used
-
to say, you're cheating. What do you mean, say you're
-
not side reading? You know, sight reading means you see
-
the notes that you play. Right. I don't side reading.
-
I follow and the moment I played once from that
-
time onwards, it's in memory. So how my teacher discovered
-
this as there was one song I was playing in
-
and I was playing the wrong thing all the time.
-
Then she she she's second, pray this again. So I
-
played according to However, that's not how you played. This
-
is how you played. So when she put her hand
-
on the piano and she played the ribbit from that time,
-
I got it right. She says, you're cheating. You see,
-
for me, I learned not from hearing, but I learned
-
from other people's examples. So go therefore and make disciples
-
of what all nations? How many of you are here
-
from Malaysia. Okay, how many of you are not from Malaysia? Wow,
-
at least twenty percent. Guess what the twenty percent that
-
come to Malaysia to you? It's go therefore to all nations.
-
You are not in all nations at this point of time,
-
you know? Do you realize that? And God has meant
-
for you to use whatever experience you learned from wherever
-
you came from to help the community. Here we were
-
in x Men devotion last Tuesday and we had no
-
who was it? No, no, no, it was past the
-
Palace last week's missions conference and we were in the
-
workshop and he said, you know, those guys that came
-
from they were brought in by the PM to Malaysia,
-
you know, and the whole nation were upping wrong. We
-
have our own people and you're not helping them. You
-
bring these guys. He had such an amazing point of view.
-
He said, why are you so upset? You have an
-
opportunity to reach these people whom you would have no
-
opportunity to reach out to if they remain in their
-
own land. So, guys you're coming from overseas, you are
-
now in all nations? How many of you are from
-
different states? One, two, three, four, five. Okay, five of
-
you from different states. Guess what you qualify? You are
-
in all nations? What Slanger is not a nation, it's
-
a state in a nation. Right. You came, You came,
-
all right, so you see as long as you go.
-
Let me put it to you a different way. If
-
you get out of bed and you leave your front door,
-
you qualify. The only way you and I will never
-
be witnesses to all nations is if we stay in
-
our bed. So God has meant for us to do
-
something great for his glory. Go. Therefore, this world therefore
-
really makes sense because now you are special. You have
-
it insight and experience that nobody else has, and God's
-
going to use that experience to help somebody else. You know.
-
When I went to Singapore to study, I stayed. I
-
think I've told this you, but it's worth telling a kid.
-
I stayed about one and a half hours away from
-
my school. I stayed in Jerome. The school was in
-
Pirela by area, so I would take the bus every
-
day at seven no, no, I'd have to take the
-
bus at six o'clock to reach my bus stop at seven.
-
School start at seven point thirty, and I would remain
-
in school until seven every evening. What was I doing there?
-
I was the head prefect, I was the tennis coach,
-
I was the basketball class player. I was the class debater.
-
The question is what was I not? So you know,
-
I stayed in school and I was And for my
-
free time, I would be telling my friends, Hey, you
-
guys have got problems with your studies. Come I'm here.
-
I'll help you. I'll teach you. I'll teach you. And
-
I did this every day and I don't know why
-
I did it. I don't know, but that was me. Now,
-
i'd go back home at seven o'clock. It means I
-
leave school. I leave and catch the bus back at seven.
-
I will reach my hostel about eight thirty in the night.
-
I will have a quick shower, go for dinner at nine,
-
come back study from about nine thirty, do my homework.
-
Finish around twelve and guess what I do it twelve
-
I'll go to church. Yeah, because my hostel is a
-
church hostel. By the way, church hostel through a gate church.
-
So at midnight I would go to church and I
-
will pray with the pastor for deliverance cases people who
-
were possessed of evil spirits and all that will be
-
praying for them until four in the morning. I catch
-
two hours no about three point thirty, I go back,
-
catch about two hours sleep and do this all over again.
-
How could I do it? How the Holy Spirit helped me?
-
But one day, one fine day, it was a weekend,
-
so I told my friends, I'll meet you in Orchard Road,
-
that was our favorite hangout. I'll meet you at ten o'clock.
-
So I was there at ten o'clock. I got out
-
of the bus and I'll feeling so sick, and I
-
told my friends I can't continue, so I'm not going
-
with you. Ten fifteen I caught the bar. I got
-
out of the bus, told them goodbye, got back on
-
the bus and went back home. I just about got
-
up the fourth floor to my bed, and I collapsed
-
in the bed, shoes on, you know, all my Saturday
-
clothes that I went out in. And I woke up
-
the next evening at six pm. I was out for
-
almost twenty four thirty hours. I was. I was out
-
for about thirty hours. I got up, there was about
-
five or ten minutes. I quickly showered, rushed to catch
-
six pm service, so I don't miss service on a Sunday.
-
But you know that was all I needed. I was
-
completely rested. After that, I was fine. But this was
-
my life. You know what I do? Every morning I
-
would share with my friends. I would tell them about
-
Jesus and about how he had delivered so many people
-
from the power of evil one. And I did this
-
every day. I would go to school and tell so
-
they will say, so, what happened yesterday? Yes, sir, yes,
-
I said the power of God. They were hooked. But
-
you know, nothing happened. They didn't accept the Lord, at
-
least most of them didn't. There were two that did,
-
two girls they did, but the others didn't. But years
-
later they did. So the thing is this, go therefore,
-
and you know what the Bible says, you teach them.
-
So you say, I'm not a teacher, right? Wrong? Do
-
you know that as long as you walk out your
-
front door, you're a teacher because somebody is learning how
-
to do the right things all the wrong thing. So,
-
whether you say anything with your words or not, somebody
-
is learning from you. How many of you have seen
-
people make mistakes and you say, well, I'm never going
-
to do that. You can see your heads. Did they
-
tell you don't do this. No, you just saw them
-
and say, hey, I'm not going to do that. Did
-
they not teach you? Yes they did. How many of
-
you seen carsgoing holes? Well, praise the Lord. Some car
-
went in the hole. You didn't because you saw the
-
cargoing hole. It taught you to avoid that place. Say you, guys,
-
you got to realize that because you have this power
-
to teach, get with the program. Teach. Oh, we don't.
-
We don't realize just how much of power God has
-
given us to do things for His glory. Teaching them
-
to do one. Observe all that have come under you.
-
So God has commanded us to do some things. You
-
know that not everything that God commands us to do,
-
we do me if you know that, So don't worry
-
about those things you haven't done yet. Teach people to
-
do the commands that you do do, right or not.
-
You know that God expects us to teach someone the
-
things that we ourselves understand. Because remember what I said,
-
it's not gary that makes the difference, it's the experience
-
that backs it up. And Lo, I am with you
-
even to the end of the age. Amen. So God
-
has not left us in the lunch. So does doing
-
always make us successful? This is the thing I need
-
to ask us. Doing something that God tells us to
-
do always make us successful. Truth be told, not always,
-
not always. Peter said, God, if that's Jesus, if that
-
Lord is, if that is you call me to come
-
in the water. And Jesus said come, And he got
-
up and he walked and he walked and he walked.
-
Then he saw the waves and he sank and the
-
Lord helped him. You gotta love Peter, Okay, don't look
-
down on him. He was an impulsive guy, but his
-
impulsiveness caused him to risk to achieve many things. In
-
the Lord, thou art the Christ, the son of the
-
Living God. I was thinking about this this morning, he said,
-
do you realize it? And it's true. Did Jesus ever
-
say he is the son of God? The scripture ever
-
say that Jesus said he's the son of God. I
-
am the son of God. Do you know that there's
-
sixty five there's a majority situation in this world who
-
always says, if you can show me one scripture that
-
says Jesus Christ saying is the son of God, I
-
will become a Christian. Have you heard that guy say
-
that I don't want to say which name, and then
-
he laughs to himself, Oh he's got the Christian. Christian
-
cannot say anything. Hey, let me tell you something, right
-
Jesus And this is what as I was driving the
-
Lord minister to me, Jesus expected or not expected. It
-
was God, the Father who would give a revelation people
-
about the sonship of Jesus. Bless I use Simon Barjona
-
for flesh and blood. It's not revealing you, but my Father,
-
who is in heaven, Thou or the Christ, the son
-
of the Living God. You know that it is we
-
who have to acknowledge Jesus as the son of God
-
and as the Savior, not Jesus himself. But let me
-
break down what scripture has said. Aren't you gonna tell
-
them to keep quiet? They're praising you? And what did
-
Jesus say, if they do not praise me, the stones
-
will praise me. Was he not saying he was divine?
-
Because you thou shalt worship the Lord God and him only.
-
Do you know that the Jews and this other group
-
of people believe only God can forgive sins. And that's
-
why when Jesus said, your sins are forgiven. The Jews
-
got upset with him and said, who are you to
-
forgive sin? Only God can forgive Seid? And what did
-
Jesus say, But just so you know that the son
-
of man has the power to forgive sins, take up
-
your bed and walk. And the guy got up and
-
he walked. So Jesus said that about himself. So he
-
may not have said specific words, but he acknowledged it.
-
So if you choose to reject it, then you're a fool.
-
This is what I'm thinking of the guy. You said
-
these things? So God expects us to acknowledge him as
-
the Lord and Savior. There is a man who has
-
to acknowledge him. He doesn't have to acknowledge himself. He
-
already knows who he is. If you've seen me, you've
-
seen the Father. Hey, how much clearer does it need
-
to be? Yeah? So this doing always make us successful? Well,
-
we have certain tasks, right? What are the tasks? The tasks?
-
How we have to go? I told you that we
-
have to get out. We have to go. The next
-
thing you need to do is we need to make disciples.
-
How do we make disciples? We make disciples? Bye? We
-
make disciples by teaching. How do we teach? We live?
-
We live a christ Like life, HM, so that when
-
we say the words, it ain't just theory, it's backed
-
up by our lives. You know what, one person wrote,
-
the greatest Bible, or the greatest word that some people
-
may ever read, is the one that they read through me.
-
That's the only Bible some people may ever read. Is
-
that the one they see in me, that was said
-
by Come and Come and the come and the Gospel musician.
-
You know what? What? What an amazing statement to me?
-
So you know that a lot of people will come
-
to know Jesus because of the life you live, not
-
so much the words you say. And then the name.
-
Next thing, you know is go baptizing. Why is baptism
-
so important? You know? You know, I was baptized in
-
the river of Templears Park, not exactly the cleanest river,
-
because when you are being baptized down here, you have
-
to imagine what people are doing in the water up there.
-
But praise, Praise the Lord. I am alife. I survived.
-
I survived Templess Park baptism. Why because I acknowledged to
-
the world then I'm a believer. Why is it that
-
a lot of people. You know, when you you first generation,
-
you've heard this said to you before. Yeah yah yah,
-
go to church, yeah yeah yea believe, but don't get baptized,
-
you know what, because even the non Christian knows the
-
baptism is a death to your whole life. You are
-
the same anymore you somebody knew. And lastly, teaching them,
-
like I said, teaching them. You know that there will
-
come a time when your words count for something. But
-
you know that your words will only count for something
-
when people have seen the word alife in your life.
-
People will respond less to your words than your life
-
after they have seen you live. Then when you speak,
-
they will listen because they've seen you live it first.
-
So when you speak it it bears witness with your spirit.
-
But I want to ask you, is there something more
-
to this? Is this all that we have? How many
-
of you here are engineers? Any engineers? Yeah? Okay, there's one,
-
there's two. Okay. You have heard of a mission statement, right, Craig,
-
How many have you heard of mission statements? The Great
-
Commissioner is a mission statement. Go therefore into the world,
-
make disciples. Mission statement? Right? But how many of you
-
in engineering have a mission statement without a method statement.
-
You know what is a method statement? The mission statement
-
is a what to do? And the method statement is
-
a how to do? The mission statement go and build
-
a building? No method statement? So what do you use?
-
Sticks and stones? Use paper cups? Is that right? No?
-
You will tell you we will build. What is the
-
method statement? You used to best steal and it's going
-
to be done in accordance with this grade. And it's
-
got method statement. There is a way to do. You
-
know that Jesus also gave us a method statement, and
-
they should be exciting to all of us. Means we're
-
going to be successful. It says here in Acts chapter one,
-
verses four and five. And being assembled together with them,
-
he commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to
-
wait for the promise of the Father, which he said,
-
you have heard from me. For John truly baptized with water,
-
but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not
-
many days from now? Did you realize that there was
-
a mission statement to the method statement? And I'm going
-
to show you how important this is. And in Acts
-
one of it it says, but you shall receive power
-
when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you
-
shall be witnesses to me in Jerusalem and in all
-
Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.
-
I was pondering on this word witnesses. To me, it
-
sounds incorrect, It sounds grammatically incorrect. You shall be witnesses
-
for me. That sounds better you because you know you
-
shall be witnesses off me. That also sounds okay. And
-
you shall be witnesses to me. So I thought about this,
-
and there's two things. God will consider you or Jesus
-
will consider you a witness. You will be to me
-
a policeman if you wear the badge, get it. You
-
will be to me a witness because Jesus considers you
-
a witness. That's one. And the other one is in
-
the meaning of the word witness, because there is a
-
sense of worship in the word witness. Do you know that?
-
Because when you are telling of the glory of God,
-
when you are telling about the wonders of the Lord,
-
what are you doing. You are worshiping? And who can
-
you worship? Only Jesus. So you will be a witness
-
to me. You will be a worshiper to me. You
-
will be someone whom I will call witness. So that's
-
what it means. Like okay, and and the old spirits
-
for me, you shall be to in Jerusalem where they are,
-
in all Judea, in their country Samaria, and to the
-
ends of the end. Let me break it down. You
-
shall be to me a witness in Clang, in slang
-
or in Malaysia Samaria you include Singapore and Indonesia, and
-
to all the earth. You see. It has to start somewhere.
-
It starts with your little circle, and then it grows
-
a little bigger and a little bigger, until you're out there.
-
Some people God may call you go straight away, but
-
for most of us, you start where you are. Okay.
-
So to every given task there is a how to.
-
To every given task, there is a how to. And
-
you want to know something. God helps us in. It
-
whips us to do what He's instructed us to do.
-
You're not alone. You have an answer. Who is that answer, Jesus?
-
I mean when I shared with a guy, I mean,
-
when I asked, Lola, what do I share with this
-
guy who's always said no? He said, talk about badminton.
-
You know that's a really funny thing, isn't it. Badminton
-
is going to get somebody sayd well, he did because
-
the guy understood God will equip you. I just learned
-
that my aunt has cancer. She's eighty years old and
-
she's in Australia, and I was wondering, Lord, what do
-
I do? So the Lord said right to her. So
-
I wrote to her. And in this message, you know,
-
the Lord is telling me to read it, so I'm
-
going to read it. I was struggling with whether to
-
do it or not, but you know, God has for
-
have his way, and this is what I wrote to her. Hi, Auntie,
-
I read this with sadness that I can't be there
-
physically with you. I continue to pray and believe God
-
for your healing. And then I talked about my sister
-
when Jennifer cancer. I asked this question, if all else fails,
-
are you ready to meet Jesus? She said yes. A
-
week before she went home. She even said to me
-
in whispers, Terence, I do not know what else to do.
-
I told her, there's nothing else to do, for the
-
devil has thrown every weapon of sickness, and you still
-
have the name of Jesus on your lips. Auntie, Please
-
do not be angry with me. My concern is that
-
throughout your coming trials, always have the name of Jesus
-
on your lips, and He above all will sustain, deliver,
-
and keep you. This is the best that I can
-
tell you because it's the closest to my heart, and
-
I believe you will find peace, comfort and strengthen this
-
Maum and Dad have prayed a simple prayer with me
-
as I have told them, and I always want them
-
at peace. The prayer goes like this, Dear Lord Jesus,
-
thank you for paying the ultimate price for my sins
-
and by dying on the cross for me. I receive
-
your love and forgiveness by faith in Jesus Name, and
-
ask you to abide in my heart as Lord and
-
Savior always. I have always believed in you and nothing
-
will ever change that. Please forgive me for every wrong
-
I have done. I believe you will be by my
-
side in the coming days. I love you always in
-
Jesus Name. I pray. If this does not offend you, Auntie,
-
please do pray this prayer as I have been. I
-
have seen three people with cancer find peace, also Mummy
-
and Dad. Also Mom and Dad have a joy too.
-
I will always love you because I will not be
-
here if not for your calm, coolheadedness. This aunt saved
-
my life and my mother's life, because at the time
-
of my birth, my mother was bleeding tremendously. The cord
-
was around my neck and there was so much blood
-
that my father just lost it. He didn't know what
-
to do. But my aunt, she was eighteen years old
-
at the time, and she was there and she saw this.
-
She called her boyfriend, who later became a husband, and
-
he came in the car and drove me to drove
-
my mom to Bangsa hospital. Now I think it's Pantai,
-
all right. And immediately when they saw me, my mom
-
was we into surgery and she was given a caesar
-
and I was taken out two weeks premature, all right.
-
And the doctor said if she had arrived even five
-
minutes later, both of us would have died. This aunt
-
saved my life, so I had an opportunity to share it.
-
You know what she said, Why would I be angry
-
with you? It's such a wonderful prayer. Guys. Every opportunity
-
is one where you can share the love of Jesus.
-
Every situation that comes your way. You just need to
-
talk about what you know and God will be there
-
giving you instruction what to do. You know that God
-
wants us to succeed more than we understand. God wants
-
us to succeed with our parents, with our brothers and
-
our sisters. He wants us to succeed in sharing the
-
love of Jesus with them. But you know He also
-
wants you to succeed in your life. How do I
-
love the Lord more and more? Yeah? Yeah, you know
-
seeing people get saved and reaching out to people. But
-
you know, God ministers to me and other things. For example,
-
I have never before fixed magnetic dologs and systems, something
-
that would cost about a thousand to one thousand, five
-
hundred dollars to do. You know, God gave me wisdom
-
and I did it. And I'm so surprised because when
-
I look at the work, I say, wow, this is
-
so professional, better than even the pros will do it
-
because you can't even see the wires. You know, every
-
time I got stuck, I asked the Lord Lord, what
-
do I do? And as I'm walking towards the the
-
hardware store, He'll say, you need to go hard bestore,
-
go back up, do this, do this, and I see
-
it in my head I got and it works. You know.
-
It is this kind of thing that the Lord talks
-
to me and I hear that helps me understand what
-
his voice sounds like, so that when people need help,
-
I can hear him tell me what to do because
-
he helps me in my daily life. He helps me
-
do my everyday things. Isn't it wonderful your everyday things? Lord?
-
What do I eat today? Eat everything? But this? Don't
-
eat this? But but he is saying, it's nice. Trust me, son,
-
don't eat it next day. I'm okay. Everybody else will
-
eat it not. So do you know that now? At
-
least an elder Mabel, when I don't eat something, she
-
takes note because she's seen it happen often enough. Will
-
you listen to the Lord in your everyday things. He
-
will speak to you and the things that matter when
-
the time comes. I mean so many things he gave me,
-
ideas you gave me. Just pop something in my head
-
and you may say, Hi, yeah, this is not spiritual.
-
You're wrong. When the Lord speaks to you, it's spiritual
-
because God is going to speak to you each and
-
every day of your life. He's gonna tell you, don't
-
take this way, take the other way. The Lord, I
-
know this way, trust me, don't take this way, take
-
the other way, and I take the other way and
-
I avoid traffic. Jat, how amazing is that? But you see?
-
Will God do that unless you speak to him about
-
every day life? I don't know. Do you know that
-
God thinks big? He believes in you and I. God
-
has to think big in order for him to believe
-
in me, because who am I am? Nothing? Wow? God
-
has to think really big. Do you know that? That's
-
what God thinks of you and I. He thinks big.
-
You say you cannot do it, Praise the Lord. I
-
also cannot do it. But who can? He can do
-
all things, so that with him nothing is impossible. We
-
can do all things through Christ who strengthens Ah. So
-
rejoice if you say you can't do it, because he can,
-
and He will use you because God thinks big. When
-
God called Gideon, the guy was cowering behind a place
-
where he was threshing wheat hiding. Why was that? And
-
how did God refer to him? You mighty man of Vala?
-
Oh gosh, do you see yourself like how God sees you? See?
-
God doesn't see us alone. He sees us with the
-
power of his Holy Spirit. So how does the Holy
-
Spirit do this? We're coming to the last letter. How
-
does the Holy Spirit help you and I in reaching
-
out to somebody? In John fourteen twenty six, it says this,
-
but the help of the Holy Spirit, whom the Father
-
will send in my name, he will teach us. He
-
will teach you some things. You see, we live like
-
as if the Holy Spirit is the Holy Spirit is
-
teaching us some things. But you know what the Holy
-
Spirit is doing. He's teaching us what all things? He's
-
teaching us, what all things? That means, He's teaching us
-
everything we need to do and know for that given situation,
-
and to bring to your remembrance, some things to bring
-
to remembrance all things that I've said to you. I'm
-
going to prove this to you. It's very important for
-
us to read scripture every day. Do you know why?
-
Because you have to get it in there, you have
-
to put it in your mind. But then you say,
-
I can't remember it all. I can't. You know, I'm
-
the worst when it comes to quoting scripture. Probably the
-
John three sixteen, for God's love. I can remember John
-
three sixteen God, But the others. I know it's there,
-
I know what it sounds like, I know what it is.
-
But you ask me where the scripture is the quotation?
-
I have problems, that's me. So thank God for all
-
these little Bible apps, and so every time I want
-
to find a scripture, I know how to find it.
-
But you see, that's me right. But I want you
-
to know that the Holy Spirit will bring to remembrance
-
everything we need at the right time. Seen this happen
-
over and over and over again in my life forty
-
over years. When did Peter ever caught scripture? Do you
-
know this? Do you know that Peter. Let's talk Peter, right,
-
When did he ever caught scripture? The first time you
-
may say, ohout the crisis on legal he wasn't called.
-
He wasn't quoting scripture. He was saying a revelation that
-
God had given him. The first time recorded in the
-
Bible that Peter's spoke scripture was after Jesus had read
-
zu No had ascended into heaven. Okay, And it's found
-
in the Book of Acts. I think it's chapter one,
-
chapter two, And he quoted this once before the baptism
-
and the Holy Spirit. Okay, he quoted two scriptures. The
-
first one was for it is written the book of
-
Psalms led the dwelling place, let his dwelling please be desolate,
-
and let no one live in it. He was quoting
-
Psalm sixty nine versus twenty five. And then scripture also says,
-
let another take his office. This was Psam one o
-
nine verse eight. Do you know that before the baptism
-
of the Holy Spirit Peter quoted only two versus. It
-
wasn't a lifestyle to quote scripture until the baptism of
-
the Holy Spirit. Because the moment the Holy Spirit had
-
fallen on them, Peter quoted ten scripture. He quoted you
-
can find this in Acts, Chapter two, verses seventeen to
-
twenty one, twenty five to twenty eight, and verse thirty
-
four ten verses. Do you know it was five hundred
-
percent more with the baptism of the Holy Spirit, five
-
hundred percent more. There's a big difference when the Holy
-
Spirit gets involved, and you gotta ask yourself, But how
-
did he know it? It was in there? You know,
-
the Jewish people, they were learning scripture all the time
-
as they're growing up, never used it, maybe, never quoted it, maybe,
-
but the Holy Spirit brought to remembrance. Do you know
-
that when you and I read our Bible at a
-
time when it is most needed, God will bring to memory,
-
look through the power of the Holy Spirit some scripture
-
that maybe we've never quot it in our life before,
-
but it will be that scripture that we need to
-
make a difference again. John fourteen twenty six. He brings
-
to memory all things. He brings to memory all things.
-
I want you to know that the Holy Spirit is
-
right there by your side. And you say you cannot
-
share with your father, you cannot share with your mother.
-
You know what I've learned. I don't care whether people
-
get upset with me. If I need to talk about Jesus,
-
I will. I will share with them so that they
-
will not have an excuse when they meet Jesus. They
-
cannot say I knew this Terence and he never shared
-
the word with me. But I tell it to them
-
not because I want to absolve my responsibility, but because
-
I want to see them saved. I want to see
-
them saved. I want them to know Jesus. You know,
-
how do you know Jesus is true? If there's any
-
one of you that has a doubt about whether Jesus
-
is true or not. Let me speak to your heart
-
right now. And if you do not know this Jesus afterwards,
-
when you're giving an opportunity get to know him. Look
-
at the lives of his disciples, you know, from cowering
-
cowardly men, cowardly men, they became giants of faith and service.
-
And you know, some religions mock Jesus and mock his believers. Ah.
-
The Bible was written by so many different people. Ah,
-
so what is only men? Let me just tell you this.
-
If Jesus was not real, their lives would not have
-
been changed. They would still be cowards. Look at Peter.
-
Three times he denied Christ. I don't know the men.
-
What's the matter with you? I said, I didn't know him? Right, Hey,
-
I don't know him. Then the rooster crowed and he
-
was very sad. From that coward. You know what he became.
-
I'm not worthy to be crucified the same way my
-
master was crucified, So you can crucify me upside down.
-
That was church history about Peter. From cowdly men who
-
were not seen when Jesus was being hung on the cross,
-
James could be stabbed with a sword because of his
-
faith in Jesus. From a murderer of Christians, Paul could say,
-
I for me to live his Christ and to die
-
his gay and his head was chopped off. What made
-
the difference? Can you see? It was knowledge in Jesus.
-
It was acceptance of him as a lord, and say,
-
he is real. So don't let anybody put your faith
-
in a box by speaking so many unnecessary things, by
-
trying to confuse you, by trying to belittle your Jesus.
-
The Jesus I believe in is not fake. He's real.
-
So we start So what does all this have to
-
do with missions? All these things that are said? So
-
what is it got to do with getting out out
-
of bed and going out there and face the world. Well,
-
we first must start knowing Jesus. So if you don't
-
know him, get to know him. We must start knowing Jesus.
-
We listen to his command to go. Jesus commands us
-
to go. There's a song it's by Keith Greedy. You're
-
go and listen to this song. It's amazing. Jesus commands
-
us to go. You know, He's provided us with the
-
help that we need. We aren't alone. He didn't just
-
send us. He didn't bring us this far to leave us.
-
He takes us. He provides us with the help that
-
we need, so that we may know what to say.
-
The Holy Spirit will always bring to memory what to say.
-
The Holy Spirit helps us record and recall his word.
-
Please please please read your Bible. Get it in there,
-
and one day it will save your life. We speak
-
of what we know. We speak of our experience and
-
what we have seen Jesus do. It's not theory that
-
will get people saved. It's the practice of faith in
-
your life that people will see and learn from. And
-
I leave you with this John twelve thirty two, And
-
it says, and I, if I am lifted up from
-
the earth, will draw all people to myself. When I
-
shared Jesus with my aunt, I wasn't talking about me.
-
I was talking about how he helped my sister find peace,
-
how he helped my parents find peace. And she knows
-
about them. So now that knowledge will speak to her
-
heart and make it soft to receive the word of
-
what I'm trying to get through to her. Guys, for
-
those of you've got parents who are not saved, don't wait.
-
Share Jesus with them, and you know how you'd share
-
Jesus with them. Don't fight with them, just tell them
-
how much you love them. Start with that. Start with that,
-
and that declaration of love will break through walls and
-
they will know. What made you different is your faith
-
in Jesus and it will open many doors. So, guys,
-
with that, I conclude today sharing because I just want
-
you to know what I had on my heart was
-
God provided us a way with which to do that
-
which we are supposed to do. And the Holy Spirit
-
is not a small help. He's mighty, He's amazing, and
-
the way he changed the lives of the disciples can
-
make you and I different people. You know, I'm no
-
longer worried about my face or what will people think
-
of me, or you know, if I share with them
-
and they say they don't want to know, I'll be
-
so hurt. No, I won't If I share Jesus with
-
someone and they say I don't want to know about him,
-
does that make me feel sad? No? I still know
-
my Jesus. See I am doing something good for you.
-
I cannot force you, but it's good for you. And
-
if you don't see it, I pray that one day
-
you will. But for me, I'm still gonna be happy before.
-
I'm still gonna have the joy of the Lord, because
-
the joy of the Lord is my strength. I will
-
not let you and your failure to see who Jesus
-
is rob me of the joy because I know Jesus,
-
and I pray that one day you will know him too.
-
Can we have our keyboard is come up and our
-
extreme music leader come up, have some of that gusto
-
piano playing, even as we praise and we worship the
-
Lord and thank him that we are not left alone?
-
Isn't that what scripture said? I will never leave you
-
nor forsake you, and lo I am with you even
-
to the end of the age. And we always forget
-
to see this word a man. A man means it's settled.
-
It's settled. You and I we know Jesus, it's settled.
-
It's settled.
