You're listening to a message to go from acts church.
-
We hope this message will light up your day.
-
I actually had two different messages, because you know, haven't
-
been here for six weeks, right, I had two messages.
-
One was on faith, and that's right, Pazza Daniel. I
-
have been taught by the Holy Spirit to live by
-
faith and it has become my one of my favorite subjects.
-
And I think all of us need to, you know,
-
be encouraged in our faith. But you know, as I
-
was preparing that, there was another message that came and
-
it was a message on example, and I thought that
-
was a very very important message, you know, to live
-
as examples for the Lord in this life. But as
-
I was doing my quiet time, I read on that
-
day Josho twenty four and Joe, thank you so much, Daniel,
-
Josho twenty four. So I will put the first slide
-
up if it's not up yet, and thank you XTV
-
for helping me. Thank you, Sonny. We've got to read
-
the Word of God, okay. So first, first of all,
-
before we get into the Word of God, Joshua had
-
a final challenge to the people, the people of Israel,
-
and he was old Bible says.
-
In fact, Bible said he was very old and he.
-
Wanted to leave the people of God a legacy, a
-
word in season. And so as he was coming to
-
the end of his life and he spoke what was important,
-
I thought, as we come to the end of the year,
-
that would be similar. What would I say to you
-
is what Joshua said to the people of Israel. So
-
in conclusion, I did have a better title. But in
-
conclusion you say, passed. Why do you save this under
-
the twenty ninth of December, Well, training of December, I
-
speak in xing Apare and that's why. So this would
-
be my final Sunday with Exctamuning. And then I tell
-
you why I'm going to x Upop because in Xapore
-
they have about seventy people and half of the church
-
in Singapore a Malay and during this time they all
-
come back to Malaysia. And so Pastor John, our pastor there,
-
you know, he had to chair, he had to worship,
-
lead and speak. So to be able to go and
-
encourage him because I know that as the company will
-
be in good heads and you guys will be here
-
and you know there'll be enough speakers to go around
-
enough chairpersons, enough worship leaders, so we just go and
-
support whoever it is that needs our support. So bass Andra,
-
I believe will be chairing in XL for I will
-
be sharing in XL four and.
-
Passa John will be worship leading.
-
Okay, and I think we will be speaking to real
-
Singaporeans there, you know, yeah, finally real snoleprince. There are
-
some singleparence who call it self single parnce of who
-
not you know? True, I was born in Spole, so
-
I can say that. So anyway, the conclusion, okay, let's
-
read the word of God. Joshore twenty four. Please turn
-
to your by because I did not put the scripture up,
-
because all of us are supposed to bring our Bibles
-
to church, so please yeah x TV before you put,
-
don't put the scripture up.
-
Don't spaill them first. Later you can okay, later you put. Okay.
-
I want to see everybody trying to turn to your
-
Bible for the first time.
-
Is here come?
-
No, of course, of course not first time, second time maybe,
-
but the not the first time? All right, Joshua bub
-
door plum part a yatrapa yah Joshua the plom part
-
i at blast card plow.
-
Daabasan.
-
So you when you're thinking I'm speaking tongues, especially maybe
-
Philammon from Hong Kong and Kong Me gong Ma brother
-
Philammon's favorite posting. He follows me on social media. He
-
told me my favorite, uh Instagram posting that you have
-
posted is the idea in Cantonese. Do you know idea
-
a Cantonny's posting that it goes like this, gong jaw
-
lim tang tang jaw lem bang meng.
-
Jaw lem Joe cho jo yo chou chow Okay. So
-
let's not let's not go de preay there.
-
But anyway, that's that happens always are in church. So uh,
-
after you preach at gong da tank okay okay, So
-
please I I calm you tank okay uh, and I
-
pray that you mean oh okay and after you mean
-
you joe okay. It just means that when I speak,
-
you listen. If you when you listen, hopefully you understand.
-
After you understand, hopefully you will do be doers of
-
the word not yes, hear us of the word Okay.
-
Let's go into Joshow twenty four, verse fourteen to twenty now, therefore,
-
fear the Lord, serve him in sincerity and in truth,
-
and put away the gods which your father served on
-
the other side of the river, and in Egypt.
-
Serve the Lord.
-
And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord,
-
choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether
-
the gods which your father served that were on the
-
other side of the river, or the gods of the
-
emirates in whose land you dwell. But as for me
-
and my house, oh we love this, don't we. We
-
have it on our wall, in our kitchen, in our bathroom, right.
-
I mean, someone's have it everywhere, because such a good word.
-
Let's say it again. But as for me and my house,
-
we will serve the Lord. So the people answered and said,
-
far be it from us that we should forsake the
-
Lord to serve other gods. For the Lord, our God,
-
is he who brought us up, brought us and our
-
fathers up out of the land of Egypt, from the
-
house of Bondage, who did those great signs in our sight,
-
and preserved us in all the way that we went,
-
and among all the people through whom we pass. And
-
the Lord drove out from before us, all the people,
-
including the Emirates who dwelt in the land. We also
-
serve the Lord, for he is our God. Now verse nineteen.
-
But Joshua, I'm laughing because this is this is so
-
different of Joshua. Josha said to people, you cannot anyone
-
say you cannot do it. The militiary, you cannot. You
-
cannot serve the Lord.
-
Are you why?
-
For he is a holy god, he is a jealous God.
-
He will not forgive your transgressions, know your sins. If
-
you forsake the Lord and serve foreign gods, then he
-
will turn and do you harm.
-
Somebody say, ouch, Sometimes.
-
We think about a loving God, a gracious God, or
-
forgiving God.
-
We think that you will never do any harm.
-
Cannot change saying this is the word of God, saying
-
that God will not forgive number one and he will
-
do you harm. So it's possible, and we don't want that.
-
Everybody said, we don't want that. We don't want that,
-
not for ourselves, for our families. We don't want God
-
not to forgive us. We don't want God to harm us.
-
I mean, I rather Satan harmers than God hammers. You
-
know that, says you if you rather, because when you
-
fall under the hands of God, man, I tell you
-
what you know, even Satan runs away, God gets angry.
-
Are you with me?
-
So you don't want to fall under the wrath of God?
-
You don't want to fall under the harm of God.
-
You don't want, you don't want, all right? So in
-
verse twenty he says that if you forsake the Lord
-
and serve foreign God's then he will turn and do
-
you harm and consume you after he has done you good.
-
I love that last line.
-
It is after he has done you good, meaning to
-
say that when we say this, now, God is good
-
all the time, all the time. God is good. It's true.
-
Somebody say, amen, God is good. He's very very good.
-
But after he has done you good, he might do
-
you harm if you forsake him.
-
Okay, So I know it might not be.
-
The happiest Christmas message. It's not a Christmas message anyway.
-
Wait for Wednesday for that. But I thought I gotta
-
leave you some godly advice as you.
-
End the year and start a new year.
-
All right, So what are the three things that Joshua
-
advised us?
-
What was the three things? Number one?
-
Fear the Lord, I don't know how many of you
-
in this room actually know what that means.
-
Something is be scared of God.
-
No, a gloving father never wants his children to be
-
scared of him. When you look at the dictionary and
-
look for the fear of the Lord, some will say
-
it's respect, respect the Lord so much that you do
-
what it's right.
-
Some will say honor.
-
Yeah, So the fear of the Lord, whatever it is
-
that you.
-
Define it to be, it's so important.
-
It was put as the number one criteria for a
-
man who is dying Joshua and has seen the goodness
-
of God on Israel.
-
Time and time again. He's giving them the.
-
Secrets to continue in this blessing, to continue, in this breakthrough,
-
to continue if you really want to see the hand
-
the good Head of God on your life. To continue
-
even even if and when Joshua is long gone, when
-
all the elders are gone, when all the seafoo in
-
the faith is gone, the seafoo of Seafoo in this scripture, Joshua,
-
who have seen God even stop you know, the sun
-
from moving. That's the power of God that Joshua has seen.
-
He said, Son stands still, And the sun did move.
-
For a whole day, and Joshua is just saying, I'm
-
going to get give you the secret. Now, Fear the Lord.
-
Fear the Lord. So for those of you who want
-
a better, easier way to remember what the fear of
-
the Lord is, I'm going to give it to you then,
-
chin version, because this is the way I live by
-
the fear of God.
-
And it's been working somewhat. Okay.
-
A man who has no salary for the last twenty
-
nine years is blessed in many ways. And you've heard
-
my testimony over and over again, and I've got even
-
new testimonies. But I want to tell you that you know,
-
the Lord taught me to fear him early in.
-
My years as a Christian.
-
And this is the definition, the definition, my definition, and
-
I give it.
-
To you today. Easy to remember is this? It is next?
-
Light will tell you.
-
First and foremost, what does God think about this? That's
-
how you define the fear of God. When you're about
-
to complain about something or somebody, think, first, God, what
-
do you think about what I'm about to say. I
-
don't care what my friends are saying, I don't care
-
what my supporters are saying.
-
I want to know what you think.
-
I'm about to leave my job because I don't really
-
like some people in my office, and so I want
-
to do things, say things, and the people are saying, yeah,
-
you have every right to just complain. I don't worry.
-
You know, you are doing something natural. You have supporters
-
supporting you as a Christian who fears the Lord. You're saying, okay,
-
thank you for all your opinion. But God, what do
-
you say? Up in your marriage and you're thinking about
-
ending it, and your friends in the.
-
Bar is telling you, yeah, that kind of WiFi left
-
along ago with that kind of husband.
-
I say, the friends of the wife and the salon
-
when she's having you know, this steamer on the head,
-
and they're all reading their magazines Ten ways to leave
-
your husband. You know, they say, you know, they say,
-
you know, they say, hi, may Hi, all it's okay.
-
You know, the stats for Christian marriages and the stats
-
for Christian divorce it's about the same as the world.
-
In fact, the latest stats was that Christians beat the
-
world by one point. So if the divorce and the
-
divorce rate of the world is fifty percent, the last
-
one I heard was Christians was closer to fifty one percent.
-
Why must it happen?
-
Because if the Christians are not careful, they start to
-
do things.
-
Like the world.
-
But if you fear the Lord, I tell you, I'm
-
married for twenty nine years now, and there are days
-
where we are happy. There are days where we are
-
very happy. There are days where we wonder why we married,
-
you know, Yeah, I'm telling you. Yeah, I see how
-
the ladies all laughing. So the guys don't they laugh
-
as though?
-
Love at home? Laugh at home, laughing my buff room.
-
Don't even show my wife that I even understand what
-
past again is saying, do you?
-
I don't even understand what he's saying. I love you.
-
I've never thought about that, you know, never ever thought
-
about that. Yeah, only when you're sober you didn't think
-
about it.
-
But when you're drunk to you know, really not just pray,
-
but fast and pray. Lord, why my husband's like this?
-
So you you've got people telling you that it's okay
-
to say this, to do that.
-
And then you have one more thought before you decide.
-
The thought is God first and foremost. What do you think?
-
What do you think even if I think I'm right?
-
What do you think even if I think that you
-
know I've been the best husband.
-
What do you think? God? That's why? What you do
-
you think God?
-
Best employee, best supervisor, best boss? God?
-
Do you think God be'st Malaysian citizen?
-
You know you should get a What what do you think? God?
-
I don't.
-
At the end of the day, it's not doesn't matter
-
what other people think. It matters what God thinks. Is
-
it important? This is the fear of the fear of
-
the roads. They having this constant question in your mind?
-
Is God well pleased with me? See, ladies and gentlemen, brothers,
-
this is God is first. He has to be first.
-
Some of you might say, pastor, when Revival actually comes
-
to Malaysia and it sweems across Malaysia the fire God
-
takes over every heart, what will happen?
-
I tell you what will happen now.
-
What will happen when Revival actually comes to Malaysia is
-
that every Christian, every person will put God first, first,
-
before your favorite sport, first, before your job, first, before
-
even your family.
-
First. God will be first.
-
And I tell you what, you don't even have to
-
wait for the revival fire to come down. He can
-
be first even today, even today, God is first. The
-
young people are here. You know you will fall in
-
love and maybe out of love for or falling in
-
fall out because the thing is not about falling.
-
Amen. You don't need to fall you just.
-
Need to see all the young people, all the patta
-
at the back. Okay, good, good, All right, they're listening.
-
Yeah they're excited. Yeah yeah yeah. Don't share, don't share,
-
don't need share, no share? Yeah right, all your freedom.
-
I'm talking to the ladies that you see my freedom
-
of your fee that's going on.
-
He's like, do touch me? You touchally.
-
I don't know why we heppen up that God is first,
-
not my girlfriend, no, my boyfriend. God is first. I
-
tell you if you want to see what a child
-
under revival looks like, the child when they put God first,
-
that's a child under revival.
-
You want to see a teenager under revival? What does
-
it look like?
-
A teenager that says mom, Yeah, I'm I'm I would
-
like to go to us to study, but I want
-
to know what God thinks. You know, you loo kind
-
of stuff. All my friends are going to UK. I
-
also know.
-
Hold on, yeah, I want to go.
-
But what does God think when you when you hear
-
a young person say that that you know something is
-
different about that person.
-
There's there's a fire.
-
And then it goes on to young adults and young
-
okay adults, and young families, young families that have their
-
first child. Right, everybody says, with the first child, you
-
don't have to go to church because so difficult to
-
take her, the first child. So you know, take six
-
months off. You know, you just got married. Take eight
-
months off. You know why because we're just falling in
-
love now falling in love, and we want to spend
-
all this time. No, I understand all your friends say, no,
-
it's okay.
-
You know.
-
I go around the country and I just had a
-
conversation with Rachel. Rachel and and she went to Chang
-
Mai and they had a like a little workshop to
-
speak about young families. Throughout the whole country of Malaysia,
-
young families are not serving the church in big numbers.
-
In ex church, I would like to report to you
-
over ninety percent of our young families are serving over
-
ninety percent. I want to put it one hundred, but
-
I just humbled myself as okay, is above ninety Every
-
young family in this room, every young family, no excuse me, no, no,
-
excuse me, Why why should we stop? When God is first?
-
God will give you the strength, the wisdom that everything
-
to be able to bring your child together with you.
-
Right.
-
But when I travel is become a norm. Not only this,
-
young families ask for it the pastor you.
-
See my wife pregnant.
-
So can I can I have six months off because
-
I you know from playing the guitar, but you're the
-
only guitar is yeah, but you know my wife will
-
need me, right, So six months easy become one year easy,
-
become two years yes, because habit. Then by the second
-
year the second child comes, so repeat now four years
-
not serving then the church, gentlemen, So so God is
-
not first? Is is either your fear of not being
-
a be handle your child?
-
You with me?
-
And there are a lot of excuses all across not
-
enough examples of That's why I'm glad. You know why
-
a lot of young families serve in X because they
-
have examples.
-
They look up.
-
Oh hey, that person got three children also serving the Lord.
-
I only go one is so he keeps on going
-
because you've got examples. A lot of churches up north Kadda,
-
down south, Joho, Klantanrano you know, naw, not only the
-
not only the parents or the soon to be parents
-
are asking the pastor already very understanding. Hey, I can
-
see that your wife, you're pregnant, so take off now
-
we are giving that.
-
I will not say that in this church.
-
I will say what did God tell you? I will
-
ask what did God say?
-
Pregnant? Canoser of the Lord? First child? Can the Lord
-
second charlt third child?
-
You know we've got God and daughters who's never stopped
-
serving the lot after five children? Right and and and Okay,
-
so I'm not this message not but children. I just
-
got passionate there a little bit because there's so much
-
more that we're missing out, so much more that God
-
can do, so many more testimonies that we can build
-
to show it can be done. It can be done
-
with God. All things are possible. God is first question
-
as you come towards the end of the year, is
-
God first?
-
Is God first?
-
All?
-
Right?
-
Let's look at Luke twenty three thirty nine to forty one.
-
This one I give you mercy because I knew idea
-
that as I get into the message, you know, it
-
gets longer. So to wait for you to turn to it,
-
my ad to the time so that one of the
-
criminals you remember this who were hanged blespheme him saying,
-
if you are the Christ, save yourself and us. But
-
the other answering rebuilt him, saying do not do you
-
not even fear God? A criminal on the cross, towards
-
the end of his life, before he dies.
-
He comes to that place. See.
-
The reason why I even bring you this scripture is
-
because some of you in this room, maybe you feel you.
-
Messed up past. I messed up, you know, my first kid.
-
As you're talking, I feel like I want to shrink
-
because with my first kid, so I didn't say the
-
lot with my second kid, or so I stop serving
-
a lot again, So I feel condemned.
-
No, no, this message is not for you to be condemned.
-
His message and the most is for you to be
-
convicted by the truth and to make sure that you
-
don't guess and the year well, but start the new
-
year better.
-
Okay.
-
So this guy, the criminal on the other cross, had
-
a messed up life, but towards the end.
-
He was promised paradise.
-
And I want you to know in this room, no
-
matter how messed up you've been, no matter how much
-
regret you having your life. God is God second chances.
-
He's a good God, as you said many times a day,
-
and he has paradised waiting that will overcome all your problems,
-
all your pain paradise.
-
But it took the fear of God.
-
You see, the fear of God starts right and from
-
that start you begin to.
-
Make good decisions. See. I don't know whether the criminal
-
really knew that this was Jesus, the Son of God.
-
But because when you have the fear of God, I
-
guarantee you you will make the right decisions.
-
That is what I'm saying to you. You want to
-
pass it by, I don't know.
-
There was no proofing, okay, but if you have the
-
fear of God, your next few decisions are going to
-
be right. That's what I'm trying to say to you.
-
You plan a church has the fear of God. You
-
are very scared because you know about the future. If
-
you have the fear of God, the fear of God
-
will determine your wisdom. That's why he says the fear
-
of God is the beginning. That means a wisdom doesn't
-
even have a chance to begin until there's a fear
-
of God. Wisdom begins. The first step that wisdom takes
-
in your life is because of the fear of God.
-
That's Proverbs nine to ten. The fear of God is
-
the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy
-
One is understanding.
-
Proverbs one, p. Seven says, the fear of God is
-
the beginning of knowledge. Wow.
-
Even knowledge comes from the fear of the Lord. Eyboy, Okay,
-
But as we study this scripture, I want to show
-
you something. He starts with the fear of God, and
-
then he says, seeing, you are under the same condemnation.
-
This is what the fear of God does to us.
-
It causes our eyes to be open to see. If
-
you don't have the fear of God, there can be
-
a chance, a huge chance, that you will be blinded.
-
So there who was blinded the rest of his life.
-
Why I say he's blinded because he's done all those evil,
-
bad things, whatever they deserve.
-
The cross.
-
Now on the cross he finally sees and he starts with,
-
do you not even fear God?
-
Seeing?
-
You mean you saw something? I want to guarantee you
-
this if you fear the Lord. Towards the end of
-
the year and the beginning of the next year, you'll
-
be able to see what you couldn't see. And he says, seeing,
-
you are under the same condemnation. So I underline the
-
words same. Why because I tell you what the fear
-
of God does. It actually allows us to see a
-
situation and understand that you are the same same. Okay,
-
this is how I'm gonna show you. So for example,
-
I'm telling these young people here stop using your handphone
-
when the service time, when the preacher is preaching. All right,
-
and then you find that when I'm bored, I also
-
go to my handphone.
-
The adults in this room who try to teach young
-
people to do.
-
The right thing are also doing the same thing, except
-
maybe they're doing private.
-
Hopefully nobody see.
-
But I say, you realize that in our lives, you know,
-
like for example, we pray for government that is not
-
cut upt and then we still pay the policeman when
-
we get stopped.
-
Actually, yeah, we are same.
-
It's true that the prisoners that we seeing that we
-
are under the same condemnation. That's why Jesus says those
-
of you without saying, cast the first storm, because we're
-
all the same same. Stop complaining, stop trying to put
-
someone else down, and.
-
Make him look bad.
-
Actually same, same, same, why that person knows self control?
-
Same.
-
My father in law used to tell me, Kenneth, some
-
people are they think are. The people's is bigger than gas.
-
But if you're bitten by a big snake and bitten
-
by a small stake, a small steak and hungry snake,
-
small snake, big snake, small snake, big snake.
-
Both will kill you.
-
But sometimes we want to look at other people's snake
-
or log in the eye whire you got this log
-
in your eye, Jesus says, look at the lock in
-
your own eye.
-
Maybe it's the lock in your own eye.
-
It's causing you to see that another log because the
-
log is here, So you see another lock there by
-
shee is your log.
-
And you're trying to remove.
-
But the lod says to remove the lock from your
-
own eye first, and you remove.
-
Actually no more.
-
How come your log was Actually the lock was always yours.
-
Same we are under the same cold. Fear of God
-
opens your eyes wide. So when you have the fear
-
of the you say, oh, hold on a minute, before
-
I put before I run this guy down, before I
-
do something bad, I got look into my own heart.
-
Am I that righteous? Am I? That nice? Am I?
-
That kind? Am I? That forgiving? Do I not also
-
have anger issues? Do I?
-
Also, you know, do stuff that I shouldn't be doing.
-
So we were kinder, we're kinder. We're more merciful blessed
-
than the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy.
-
But same yet.
-
Different, because the eyes with the fear of God is
-
not only open to We are same, but there is
-
a difference because we he said, we receive our due reward.
-
But this man has done nothing wrong. I love it.
-
I love how our eyes are opened to that we
-
are all the same under the same curse, under the
-
same contination. So please show some mercy to each other.
-
But hold on a minute, same, while different. The eyes
-
of yours and mine will open, the fear of God
-
will open it, and we go like, hey, actually, I
-
realize that everybody's complaining about this pastor. But this pastor
-
has not complained about anybody. So how could it be
-
that this pastor is bad? I haven't heard one bad
-
word come out of his mouth against the people that
-
are saying bad things about him. So same, same, but different.
-
I see a difference. I also me very very important.
-
Everybody Okay, let's move on. Let us hear the conclusion
-
of the whole matter. Fear God and keep his commandments.
-
Well the conclusion.
-
Now you know why.
-
The title I gave the message in conclusion, Fear God
-
and keep his commandments. For this is man's all. This
-
was the end of the life of the wisest man
-
that ever lived on the face of the earth. His
-
name was Solomon, and this is what he wrote. He says,
-
I can count the stars, I can do great things.
-
There is no one richer than me. Okay, Elon Mass,
-
you know, will probably be one of my servants.
-
You know.
-
I wipe my sweat, you know, with one hundred dollar notes.
-
Chinese will say, I gaggle my mouth. Was that.
-
Each was it? Okay? Whatever? Okay? Something expensive? Fish river?
-
What was it? Quite English? Not shaffielder?
-
Okay, So I gargle my mouth with chaffeel How my dad,
-
I'm so rich.
-
I've gained it all. I've seen it all. I've seen
-
it all.
-
And yet this is my summary. Not please go to
-
Harvard Business School and get a master's because education is
-
so important. Oh, the wisest man on the earth never said,
-
never ended with you've got to get a degree. Okay,
-
the younger ones, I should be excited. Notice, not make
-
more money, not get married. You must get married. If
-
you haven't got married, touch you again, so what that's
-
your second city. Don't truch you don't touch them? Oh
-
the parents happy, will bring mother bring who?
-
Touch him again? Touch him again? He touched me. Amen.
-
This guy just loves his guitar. I know, I think it.
-
Don't know wor g is his wife? Okay, yeah, get
-
a wife, get a husband.
-
This is man's all. This is man's all. You'll be
-
all you be, really all the all, the whole matter.
-
The conclusion is fear God and keep his commandments anyway, Okay,
-
this is not Kenneth chained his bible. What is the
-
motivation behind the fear of the Lord? Motivation behind is
-
not fear, perfect love cast out fear. The Bible says,
-
it's not fear. It's all the kind of being scared, shivering. Oh,
-
my father's gonna wallop me. No, the motivation is in
-
the next slide, and the next slide is a good word.
-
Second Corinthians five nine.
-
Therefore, says Paul the Apostle, we make it our aim.
-
Someone say aim whether present or absence, to be well
-
pleasing to him. This, my friends, is the motivation of
-
why we fear him, because really we want to please him,
-
because really we know that he loves us, Because really
-
we know that he gave his only begotten son for us,
-
and there is nothing that he will never do for us.
-
God is good, and he's good all the time. And
-
because he's so good to me, I don't want to
-
hurt his feelings. I don't want to make him disappointed.
-
I don't want to rob the smile from his face.
-
I want to see my Papa smile, my father in
-
heaven smile now and forever. I want to stand in
-
front of him and hear him one day say well done,
-
my well done, my well done, my good and faithful servant.
-
As you're standing before the Lord, it's hard to see
-
someone that you love frown said, very hard, and God
-
who loves you.
-
And then you see him and then he's like, you know,
-
do you want to do that? You come before the Lord?
-
Then he doesn't really, he's not me and angry finally
-
made it to see him because of Jesus, and then
-
he goes in. However, you have seen that before and
-
like you are friends with somebody, and then every Sunday.
-
You see, hey, right, Rachel, can you hey?
-
And then one day you come in and then try
-
to afford a smile and you know something's wrong with you,
-
something's wrong. Then you will go up and say, hey,
-
what's wrong man? Because you're smiling every time you see me,
-
and then that day you didn't smile. Our goal, our
-
goal in life is to live to put a smile
-
on God's face.
-
Everybody. Okay, what else did he say? Fear the Lord?
-
What's the second one? Come on, what's the second one?
-
Fear the Lord?
-
And the second one is serve the Lord? Okay, this
-
is again advice from a man of God called Joshua.
-
And he said fear the Lord. And then he says,
-
serve the Lord.
-
I guess you can fear the Lord without serving him.
-
That's why God has to tell you, or rather Joshua
-
is to tell you. Many people here in the church,
-
in the world, they say they fear God and yet
-
they don't serve him. I really believe that both of
-
them are connected. Okay, So as we close the year,
-
I want all of us to be encouraged with serving
-
the Lord. Let's look at the scripture Joshaw twenty four fifteen.
-
And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord.
-
You know, when I read this worder, I was a
-
little bit surprised, although I read it before.
-
How can it be evil to you? Even as an
-
evil word. Evils not a very nice word to hear.
-
But Joshua is saying to the people, if it seems
-
evil to you to serve the Lord, then still you
-
have to choose.
-
Now, I got a me for you.
-
I'm sure you know it already that whether or not
-
you serve the Lord, you're going to serve something.
-
Or somebody.
-
We were made by God to serve, and we will
-
never be.
-
Satisfied until we serve either we are.
-
Serving our own desires, serving our fears, serving our passions,
-
serving our masters, serving money. We are going to be
-
serving somebody or something. If you agree, say amen, it's true,
-
it's true. You take your eyes of the Lord, you
-
put them on your family. And now your wife could
-
be your idol, your children could be your idol. And
-
now we say what does God think?
-
First? You say, what does my son think? First? What
-
my daughter think first? What are my wife things? First?
-
So this is true. So Joshua is not letting them go.
-
He says, you know, guys, let me tell you truth.
-
If you know what the Lord, you better choose who yourself,
-
because you're going to serve something anyway. And so this
-
is why he says, choose for yourselves this day whom
-
you were serf, whether the gods which your father served
-
that were on the other side of the river, or
-
the gods of the emirates in whose land you dwell. Now,
-
this is very important to understand. What Joshah presented to
-
the people of God was two choices. He says, you
-
choose whether you serve your past or whether you serve
-
your future. You know, I recently, in my quiet time,
-
understood something from the Lord that some of us could
-
be doing what we're doing and driven to do what
-
we're doing because of a past event or someone says
-
something in the past. It could be your fear, it
-
could be a drive that you know, you saw how
-
poverty affected your family, so you never want to be poor,
-
all right, So you're not being driven by the Lord
-
by his love. You're driven by not wanting to be poor. Now,
-
while that could be nobler, it's not God and that's
-
why sometimes God might even ask you to change the
-
good for the God.
-
What we want is what God.
-
So you know, I tell you when Passandra came into
-
my life, I looked at her one time and I thought, wow,
-
I like this one.
-
I like this one. I don't know why from Yamada.
-
I like this face.
-
I like this our faith. Yeah, not quite much. Salais
-
not quite Chinese, not quite anything. Just international. That's what
-
she wants me to tell you. I married an international wife.
-
When we passed by the immigration of Italy one time,
-
they didn't stop her. They thought she was Italian. No
-
playful pricess went now. She wanted her passibort to be stamped,
-
and a lot of us made me travel. We went
-
our passible to be stamp. She was so angry, you know,
-
she walked past it. Then the guy yeh this so
-
she wal would be fun.
-
They're like why. Then I thought I could work with
-
my wife. So I thought, no need to stay passon.
-
I walk here you Italian Italiana from the Chinese side
-
of Italy.
-
Yeah, I use as a spaghetti.
-
Did you make it one time?
-
Me?
-
Of you? Only one time? Okay? You you hey stand passport?
-
So I say, my wife, your wife, Melie, and then
-
then she got his pass words step oh sorry, thought
-
I thought, excuse me, I saw you Italian spaghetti, blazagna.
-
Puttuccini.
-
Okay, so uh yeah, So what was I saying?
-
Wife? Yeah?
-
Yeah, yeah, yeah, so my wife. You know, very I was,
-
I was, really I was. I was just you know,
-
I had to ask the Lord. I said, Lord, is
-
it you?
-
Is it you?
-
And the Rod says yes, and then all asked me
-
another question. I said, do you like her? Course, for
-
the past six months, I've been saying, Lord, you will
-
be done, says Kenneth. Just stop being so spiritual for
-
a while. I asked you one question because you like her,
-
not because I won't force her. You Mary, you, I
-
won't force you to marry her. Oh yes, I like her. Okay,
-
let's start there first, okay. And then I said, Lord,
-
you will be done.
-
Now. What happened to us? Every time I prayed? I
-
felt like I was sinning. I tell you why.
-
I because when I was six years old, I really
-
believe in kids ministry. When I was six years old,
-
my Auntie came around, is it Kenny cousted me. Kenny,
-
you know I'm think of playing the saxophone. No uh,
-
and I say I can buy one from China that
-
I just had to blow the thing placed by yourself.
-
I just pressed the button on Kenny G. Kenny G.
-
And then Kenny C comes.
-
Out six years old and my auntie said Kenny got
-
girlfriend now.
-
And there were other cousins there and they're all like
-
playing a food.
-
Auntie.
-
I don't know why I took it seriously like no,
-
and then she says, wait, Auntie, you're.
-
Bigger than you like girls, you like girls. I will
-
never like girls six years old, I will never like girls.
-
So no girlfriend until this one. No girlfriend.
-
So some girls were after me because I owe them
-
money and all that stuff.
-
So sorry. I would finish my sentence.
-
And it says no no no Malay girl, Chinese girl,
-
Indian girl, you know Malaysia muhiba No no no, because
-
I I didn't want to ever break my vow six
-
years old, I made no Rachel. That's how powerful exekids mainstream.
-
When you want the lord, you want the lot, he
-
can go foreveryone. When you don't want so, so no,
-
then you are why. One day my father asked me
-
know when I was twenty four years old, Trade three
-
for Kenny. Everything okay with you? They told maybe I
-
was a little bit too happy, you know, to last
-
m I said, yes, Dad, I have my hen and
-
I grew up heard and I just to show that, say,
-
you know these days are they do it?
-
So? So I said, I am, I am, I am
-
right now.
-
When I really liked her and started praying for her,
-
I really felt I was sitting and then the Lord
-
told me, Kenneth, I'm going to put you to rest.
-
Even if you don't end up with Sandra, you still
-
have to break the vowel because the vow is not
-
from me. That was a perspective. The perspective was not
-
I'm breaking a vow to get said no. The perspective
-
was whether or not something good and beautiful happens in
-
your life.
-
What is wrong, is wrong, is going to be broken.
-
And so I don't know what you're driven by, guys
-
in this room, but you have a challenge this morning
-
from Joshure that says, choose either to worship the God
-
of the past that has still been your God, whispering
-
to your ear, pushing you every time you want to
-
make a decision.
-
You hear your father's voice.
-
You know, maybe it's also pass on many years ago,
-
but your father boy is just telling you, don't ever,
-
you know, be embarrassed in front of it. You know,
-
so you don't you You're you're fearful to be embarrassed.
-
Don't ever, you know, drop your waterface whatever you know, uh,
-
in front of don't ever be poor?
-
Don't ever. And you got.
-
This, this god of the past. Choose will you continue
-
to be driven by the past fears or will you
-
be driven by your future desires? The god of your
-
father's or your own gods of the future. Be careful
-
because if you do not choose the Lord, you're going
-
to serve one of these. And you better choose. Okay, everybody, okay,
-
And of course Josh was saying, as for me and
-
my house, we will serve the Lord. What are you
-
serving today, guys?
-
What are you serving?
-
I'm doing my doctorate now DBA Doctor of Business Administration.
-
I was and I was encouraged.
-
To do it. I'm doing it. It's so tough. It's
-
so so tough.
-
I want to tell you all the promises they made me,
-
all all wrong. Passal Kenneth, You're going to give you
-
a doctorate because you got thirty five years of experience
-
in your ministry. So you just wipe right according you
-
will help you, will help you.
-
It's gonna be easy.
-
I tell you, t ip you, you know, t ip you. Ah,
-
So I have to work out with my supposed to
-
move eyes. I said, why so hard one? Your promises
-
are not yes an amenment, he's doing hidding. Somebody have
-
got stressed, you know, just to do chapter two literature review.
-
Why you know? I thought you wanted my experience.
-
Now I have to read other people's experience literature review?
-
What do I get myselfing to?
-
You know? But every morning I said, Lord, I will
-
only get through this DBA with you, and let me
-
be reminded to me again and again. It's also only
-
for you. You got you gotta what drives you. And
-
I don't want this DBA to ever stop me from pitching.
-
Because some people are thinking the master's a want six
-
months off. I don't want to do my DBA and say, please, Pasadenia,
-
I don't have to serve for six months. I don't
-
know what kind of thing is that? Who has become
-
your god? You borrow a god for six months from somewhere,
-
I said God, I'll come back to you when I'm done.
-
Then you know what happened because you didn't submit it
-
to God. When you finally get it, you will use it.
-
Not for good as you see.
-
But if every day you submit to God, say God,
-
this b I don't need it. I am already completeing you.
-
But when I get it, use it as you like.
-
I'm now getting some calls from from the government and
-
saying passa, would you like to know advice in this?
-
Advice is that? And sometimes the doors are not open
-
because there is no title. So I say, God, if
-
you want to use it for that reason, use it
-
for that reason. But I don't need titles. I just
-
need a testimony. I don't want to go home to
-
be with the Lord with a thousand titles. I want
-
to go home with the Lord with just at least
-
one testimony. I serve the Lord, and I was faithful
-
to God.
-
To the very end. Everyone, Okay, are you getting something
-
of this? Matthew six twenty four.
-
No one can serve two masters, So you will serf
-
you will. I'm telling you right now, you will. You
-
can I get into your spirit. You're sitting down here
-
Oh you know I'm not serving the Lord.
-
No, no, you will. You're serving something.
-
Most times yourself, but yourself can't get you to Heaven,
-
and yourself, you know, can't get to hear God say, well,
-
do my good and faithful servel when all is done.
-
That's why he says it starts with fear the Lord
-
put him first. What do you think, God? What do
-
you think? Ah? Okay, okay, that's why some people get
-
really like, huh, how con perse Kennedy Dodd?
-
How can you be ready? Starting a change fifty two years old?
-
In case the communiting? Where he has got all this? Why?
-
Because God? What does God think? What does other people think?
-
What does he think? And today you see all these
-
beautiful faces because he started it. I don't wis I
-
won't be able to see your face. Some of you
-
probably won't won't come to Schumang. Ever, thank God, because
-
I get to see you now. I get my own
-
sister serving the lot in this in this church. I
-
get my mom serving law, I get my family serving
-
the lot down here in this church?
-
You know? Are you with me?
-
So when God tells you what he thinks? I tell
-
you you're always a winner, always a winner.
-
All right.
-
People can tell you always a bad idea, whatever it is, okay,
-
So fearl the Lord, serve God, everybody, okay. But no
-
one can serve two masters. Now read this with me.
-
Read this with me. For either he will hate the
-
one and love the other, or else he will be
-
loyal to the one and despise the other.
-
You cannot serve God. Amendment.
-
Two words that I pick up from here that has
-
got to do with service is this love and loyal.
-
Look at the next light, love and loyal.
-
You cannot serve two masters because you either will love one,
-
hate the other, or be loyal to one not loyal
-
to the other. So I caught from scripture two words
-
that define real service. If you are serving anything in
-
your life, there will be two else. At least you
-
will love it, and therefore because you love it, you
-
will hate the other thing that stops you from doing it.
-
With me, one guy.
-
Told his professor, a professor, I think I can't believe
-
in Jesus anymore. Professor, ask him why? Or because I
-
thought about it, even prayed about it. And I consider everything,
-
and I realize, Oh, Jesus can be real. Jesus, come
-
you real? So the professor, who has forty years of
-
experience behind him, look at the student in his eyes
-
and said, tell me, how are you enjoying sexual intimacy
-
with your girlfriend?
-
He actually said it strongler, I'm just trying to be
-
kinder with my words.
-
And the guy's eyes open up, said professor, I'm telling
-
you about Jesus, and you're telling me about me sleeping
-
with my girlfriend. So yeah, because you must be enjoying
-
something so much that Jesus has to go out the window.
-
So it's either your girlfriend goes out the window or Jesus.
-
After about half an hour, he cries and he repents.
-
He says, yes, almost every day I'm with my girlfriend,
-
and I know that Jesus is the one that makes
-
me feel guilty for doing this, So I don't want
-
to feel guilty doing this anymore because I like being
-
with my girlfriend, so I don't to feel guilty.
-
So who has to go out the window?
-
Jesus? Jesus has to go out. He says, you haven't
-
thought about it. Your brain is not so big that
-
you can suddenly discover that this God is not real.
-
Your brain is small, so is mine.
-
Our puny brains cannot understand God, and then you tell
-
me that you've researched and you've read and you've thought
-
it true. No, I'm telling you right now something is
-
coming against your real desire and God's desire. So who
-
gets kicked out most of the time? God, Bye bye God,
-
Bye bye Sunday, Bye bye service. Now we can go
-
out there and have our conscience clear, we think, but
-
it's not our conscious. It is not clear. It's seared
-
with a hot iron. It's become dead to God.
-
Everybody.
-
Okay, so this this, this this first time I heard
-
the professor telling me.
-
That was in Australia. He said.
-
I just looked in him, straight in the eye and said,
-
what are you enjoying so much that you've got to
-
kick God out of the window? And okay, I know
-
it's quite it's quiet now. But that's why we're talking
-
about love and loyalty.
-
If you love something, you gotta hate something.
-
See, you're gonna hate the opposite of it. If you
-
love God, gonna hate sin. If you're loyal to one,
-
you're gonna be disloyal to the other. So you gotta choose. Okay, choose,
-
let's go. Then Jesus said to him away with you, Satan.
-
For it is written you shall worship the Lord, your God,
-
and him only. So this is the thing. It has
-
to be Him only. I underlined emboldened those words. Him only.
-
Shall you serve not yourself, not your dreams, not your past,
-
not your fears, not anything him.
-
Somebody said him only. It starts with worship.
-
Worship will bring you to the place where you serve
-
Him only.
-
Everybody good.
-
Last one, Number three, Joshua, the man of God who's
-
seen God move powerfully, says, I leave you three things, Israel.
-
If you continue in these three things, you are going
-
to continue in the blessings of God. Number three is
-
put away the gods. Put away, the gods put away.
-
Israel has God's.
-
Idols.
-
And today we might not have idols in our house,
-
on the altar, in our car, at the front of
-
our garden, but we can have idols in our hearts,
-
and we need to be careful about that before we
-
close the year. You don't know what the first commandment
-
is in the ten commandments. The first you think to yourself, aout,
-
why they go put that first up? Because it's the
-
thing that messes up everything else. And not only that,
-
God is saying that he recognizes that even those of
-
us Israel Israel, those of us who have seen God
-
tasted God, can still be subjected to this temptation to
-
the gods that we can see compared to the God
-
that we cannot see. So the first commandment is accidents
-
twenty verse three. You shall have no other gods before me,
-
no other gods before me.
-
Was smiling and was doing this study two days ago.
-
I said, God, after you cannot, can I joking with God, God,
-
if you cannot before you, then after you, He says,
-
don't worry. I got another scripture for that. And the
-
other scripture for that is found in the next verse.
-
You shall not make yourself carved image any likeness or
-
anything that is in the heaven.
-
That God doesn't even want us.
-
To make a calf imagure of anything in heaven, or
-
so you think about ever a moment.
-
That means He doesn't even want us to be a
-
calf image.
-
Of him, because in our puny minds and corrupted minds,
-
we will never be able to make something as beautiful
-
as God.
-
Never.
-
You will never be able to take a creation clay
-
stone or whatever. You will never be able to dig
-
something of the creation to make it look like the creator.
-
You will never so God is saying, don't try.
-
So no God before me and no God's after me,
-
because you are not to make any image to continue
-
after that. Everyone, Okay, this is very important, very important. Okay,
-
so let's read on. It says, don't make any cove image.
-
You shall not bow down to them. What is bow
-
down to them? You shall not worship nor serve them.
-
You know these two words are go hand in hand.
-
So often Jesus said to Satan, you shall worship the Lord,
-
your God, and only him shall you serve. Do you
-
know what the expression of true worship is service? Service
-
is the loyal and loving kind. I love you got
-
so much. I'm gonna hate the things that you hate.
-
I'm loyal you got so much. I'm gonna be distroyal
-
to the three things that stop me from being loyal
-
to you.
-
How are you serving the rod today? Love him with
-
all your heart, serve him with all your mind.
-
But the two comes together because you cannot serve without worship.
-
So worship first, don't bow down the bybe, says God said,
-
And don't serve them, don't worship them? What is worship anyway.
-
Worship is basically just an adoration. You know, you have
-
your whole attention, you have your whole submission, sacrifice. You're saying,
-
you know, whatever this is, I'm gonna give my old
-
can be your job. You know, you can worship your job.
-
I give my whole time to my job. My whole
-
focus on my job. Can be your studies. I worship
-
my studies. You have all my time. You are my best.
-
I will even give Sunday to you because you are
-
more important that ninety's are more important than what God
-
has to say. I'm telling you right now, many many
-
people who have done very well in this world without
-
even an SPM, and God continues to do this in
-
our world because you want to show you that, Yes,
-
studies are important to students. But I'm telling you cannot
-
be your God, and neither can your girlfriend. Neither can
-
your boyfriend. Don't let anyone else take the place of God.
-
Don't let them take the attention that only belongs to God.
-
All right, this is very important, Okay, I've got to
-
I've got to read this to the finish. You know why,
-
because there's something there that I always schem over and
-
the Lord says those schem over this read the rest.
-
Okay for either Lord, your God am a jealous God
-
understood visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children,
-
to the third and fourth generations of those who hate me. Wow,
-
it's true. I didn't remember that the word hate me
-
was there. That means, Ah, any one of us, in,
-
any one of us in this rumor, who loves something
-
else more than God is hating God.
-
Ah.
-
It's painful, it's really out because it's not me saying it.
-
He's saying, if you love somebody else more than me.
-
You hate me.
-
He didn't say, if you learn somebody else more than
-
me is idolatry is you know? He just says, you
-
hate me. You know how powerful it is anyone here
-
in this room hate God. That's why some people say
-
I still believe in God. Actually, even though I'm playing
-
golf on Sunday, even though I'm doing my own thing
-
on on you know, on Sunday, if I'm doing instead
-
of having my quiet time, you know, I'm having breakfast
-
with friends instead of praying at night before I sleep.
-
I finished with alcohol.
-
Uh, you know I I Yeah, but I still believe
-
you know it's very subtle, right, I haven't left God. Hello,
-
don't take it from my definition definition. But if someone
-
something else has taken the place of God in your life,
-
you have just said I hate you. I know it's strong.
-
I know it's strong. We're closing a year, you say,
-
past the Christmas raw Paster Christmas.
-
I relaxed a bit. I want to.
-
I want to, But you know, I have to also
-
tell you so that by the time you are ending
-
the year, as you're coming to Christmas and New Year,
-
you don't just drink yourself drunk. Please, and don't just
-
come on. You just got to get Takes Live series
-
because Training Tree you five. If you believe it's going
-
to be a better year to Traine three four, even
-
if you had a good year already.
-
If you believe it, say amen. If you believe, say amen.
-
I believe it all my heart. I'm looking forward to
-
Training Tree you five. I am it's going to be
-
a great year. I don't want to hate God, but
-
he said, if these take my place, you hated me.
-
Next sight says, loving something more than God means we
-
hate God. You cannot replace God with anything else in
-
your life. This is very very key, very important. Okay,
-
anything that you cannot give up next slight, anything that
-
you cannot give up to God has become an idol
-
in your life. Think about that for a moment, and
-
I don't want to just skip the slide. Think about
-
that for a moment. What can you give up? My
-
wife and I, as I said, had been married for
-
twenty nine years. We are very committed to ministry, so
-
committed that sometimes we have to be careful that ministry
-
doesn't become an idol. When my wife actually ran with
-
me to FJ to day, she had a few mortages
-
that she has to speak at, but she said to me, no,
-
I want to be with you. I think it's important
-
that we are a couple there at FGAKL and I
-
want to support you, you or my husband.
-
I'm your wife. I will support you.
-
And just giving up whatever ministry she had on that
-
Sunday morning was definitely very.
-
Pleasing to me.
-
You know, as a husband, of course, I don't want
-
to be in a big church like that without my wife.
-
But I'm telling you right now, it's even hard to
-
give up on some of these things that you love,
-
and it can be good, but not necessary. God, can
-
I tell you one thing before I close her, because
-
it's very very important. As I was growing up, I
-
was finding her priorities in my life. Yeah, very important
-
to have priorities. So I was fine finding priorities. And
-
I used to say this though God is first. Everybody
-
understand this. God is first.
-
Who is second?
-
Usually we will say family and correct, correct, I mean
-
you're right. Family second.
-
Third, maybe your work for those of you are working
-
your work, those of you studying your studies. Fourth.
-
Anyway, you know what price together. As I'm growing older
-
and I think and hope deeper in.
-
God's work, I've stopped.
-
I've stopped giving anybody second place, because that can mess
-
you up.
-
Because there are days.
-
I'm saying, I'm just saying days that partic Sunday she
-
gave up that Sunday's ministry for a husband because in
-
God's eyes, that was important.
-
So if you just.
-
Say family is number two, then you might get messed
-
up sometimes because God might say, on that day, I
-
want you to serve me.
-
I give you a story I read that told me
-
by Nett. Told me.
-
By Nett has a son called Matthew Bynett. If you
-
google them up, they're very famous past us in America.
-
Told me By that was out preaching, his son was
-
dying at home. They called Tommy, and those days, you know,
-
hard to get like. There was no handset handful. So
-
he got a call from the telephone booth and Tommy,
-
if you can't come back because your son just you know,
-
I think he was away for a month, but he
-
has this revival meetings that's going on, revival meetings every night.
-
People are being saved on that.
-
So Tommy in the last few nights, Tommy believed that
-
he had to be there. But his son is his
-
only son at the time, Matthew Bynette dying. I think
-
it was either two book losses or some pneumonia or
-
something is dying. He was only I think about eight
-
or nine years old, and told me put the phone down.
-
He said in the book. Cried all the way to
-
his hotel room. He got down his knee and said, Lord,
-
I will go back because I believe that family is
-
immediately after you, so I will, but I want to
-
hear what you have to say to me.
-
God, please speak to me.
-
He wrestled and wrestle wrestle the whole night until the
-
Lord said to him, will you trust me to heal
-
your son as you serve me in this last few
-
nights here? And Tommy said, I was so torn. He said,
-
I went back to the phone, the phone booth the
-
next morning and I called my wife. He said, dear wife,
-
I'm so sorry tell you this. My heart breaks as
-
I hear that our.
-
Son is dying.
-
But God just promised me that if I was finished
-
the next three nights.
-
Here, that he will heal him. He will heal a
-
little Matthew.
-
And according to the book, with a heavy heart, he
-
served the Lord because he was so worried about his son.
-
No handful, no texts, He.
-
Said, Lord, I trust you, and he preached his best
-
three messages, the last three or four messages, and hundreds,
-
if not thousands, came to know the Lord. And he
-
got into the car as soon as the last message
-
was preached, and he raised down like an F one
-
driver back to his house four or five hours drive away.
-
And before he arrived, the sun was here completely.
-
And by the time he got to his door, he
-
ran to the you know, he ran in, but he
-
realized that the sun was his son, ran out to
-
read him and hugged him.
-
And so I've learned something.
-
Friends, before I close that I tend not to put
-
anything second in third and fourth and fifty days, I
-
just say, God, you are number one, and you tell
-
me when you need me to put number two. You
-
tell me when to put number three. You tell me.
-
As far as I'm concerned, it should be my family,
-
but I want to hear from you. It should be
-
my family. But I want to hear from you. And
-
I'll tell you what. If you do it God's way,
-
you will see many more miracles than what you have
-
seen thus far. Anything that you cannot give up to God,
-
think about it for a moment, what is it?
-
What is it? I will never be able to give
-
up my job. It's such a good job.
-
Why And Abraham said to his young men, stay here
-
with the donkey the lad and I will go yonder
-
and worship, and we will come back to you. Abraham,
-
give me Isaac, Abraham, give me Isaac. This was Abraham's
-
own son, one and only. He got his son at
-
one hundred years old. He got this son when he
-
was old. It was a promise of God, and yet
-
he was able to give. And he called it worship away.
-
Where is the scripture, Sorry Abraham scripture. When Abraham was
-
about to bring his son to the altar to be sacrificed,
-
he called it worship. True worship is service. True service
-
is giving your best to God. Let's close as I
-
run through the last few slights. Worship is sacrifice. Worship
-
is sacrifice. Worship is giving our best to God.
-
Follow me.
-
Actually, worship is giving our best to God. True worship
-
with service is the best antidote against idolatry.
-
I'm gonna say it again.
-
True worship with service is the best antidote against idolatry.
-
If you don't want to have idolatry in your life,
-
then you got to learn how to worship the Lord
-
with true service.
-
What is true service?
-
True service is love and love give only your best.
-
Abraham gave his best to God. You know, there are
-
days I think our Malay friends do this better, and
-
I say it. I say because I'm not talking down
-
about them. So I'm very free and bold to say this.
-
If I have camera, our Malay friends understand this a
-
little bit more. Sometimes I remember when there was this family,
-
you know, we call him the Zeton family. Zyton family
-
are Chinese but Muslim so they started this cytone company.
-
Oh did so well? Remember you know that all the
-
ads Guna Tampas was. I remember Gunna Tampa was was.
-
Excuse me.
-
They're Chinese multi millionaires. My father had a dealing with them.
-
So they invited my father to the house Syton Industry bungalow.
-
I went with my dad. We partner car in the garage.
-
They have three story garage and one story garage can
-
take probably about twiny cars. So three story garage in
-
the basement of the house and you know Ferraris and Porsche.
-
This is very rich.
-
So we had to walk up the body gout, came down.
-
There's a lift going up to their house. So I've
-
never seen such a bungalow before in my life. So
-
he walked in and the whole Zython, the chairman and
-
his sons all Chinese, but I didn't know they were Muslim.
-
And you started to have a meal, yeah, and then
-
suddenly Zython.
-
Chairman stands up.
-
Old men at the time, Stone chairman stands up and
-
he goes away, and then the rest of us continue
-
to eat. And then my father had to ask one
-
of the sons, actually where your father go because he
-
went it's gone for like at least a good five
-
six minutes.
-
Or my father he doesn't miss. He doesn't miss his
-
prayer to.
-
He can be in a board meeting and as soon
-
as his prayer time, they're five times in prayer. Chairman
-
of the board gets up and goes and prays. It
-
doesn't care your carry on. I've got to serve God.
-
And I think to myself, Wow, I mean, I don't know.
-
Some of you might say, oh, well, this sounds very religious,
-
But I'm saying to you that there's an understanding with
-
some people when it comes to the fear of the Lord,
-
the service of God and putting all gods away to
-
make sure that him only. We will serve him only,
-
we will serve him only, we will serve. You cannot
-
serve the Lord, said Joshua. Why we read that right,
-
You cannot serve the lot.
-
Why?
-
Because God is holy, God is jealous. He will not forgive,
-
He will do you harm. Do you think God really
-
doesn't want to forgive us? Do you think he really
-
wants to harm us? No, but he is a holy God.
-
He's a holy God. I want to turn now to
-
the last three slides, and then you can look up here.
-
Holy means only for him, only for him. If I
-
take this bottle and I dedicate to the Lord, Lord,
-
I dedicate this to you, this bottle has now become holy.
-
You cannot take this bottle open and drink. You cannot
-
think this bottle right now and what the plants. You
-
cannot do as you please with a bottle that is
-
now holy because he's been set apart.
-
It's only for him. He's being made.
-
Clean by him and for him.
-
So anything that is made holy is the Lord's. If
-
you have dedicated your child.
-
To the Lord, and some of your parents have dedicated
-
your children, you cannot dictake where your child ends up.
-
You can say, I want you to be a lawyer.
-
I want you to know.
-
You can say, Lord, I dedicated him to you twenty
-
five years ago.
-
His future is in your hands. You tell us what
-
you want him to do.
-
So Para, after dedicating their children also want to have
-
a say in their children's life. So this is where
-
you know things get messy.
-
It's holy.
-
That's why josh I said, you cannot save the Lola.
-
Don't don't, don't talk nonsense. No, we want to serve
-
the lot.
-
No, you cannot. You don't understand. You think so simple men,
-
you think so simple to sell the lot? Man, he's holy?
-
You know? No, no, no, we want to say.
-
No you can, I know? Please, don't dream. Cannot you
-
cannot save the load everyone in this room. You cannot
-
sell the lorda you think what he's chin chai wanna.
-
He's not a chin chai God. He's a holy God
-
and he will not forgive you, and he will harm
-
you if you turn your back against him.
-
No, no, we want to serve the Lord. Are you sure? Yes,
-
we want to sell the lot? Are you sure?
-
Yes?
-
We want to serve the Lord. Only him will we serve?
-
Are you very sure? Don't mess around? He's holy. He
-
will have you although he loves you, after he's done
-
good to you. He won't forgive you if you hate him.
-
If you hate.
-
Him last night, jealous, you're a jealous God only with him.
-
If I have a wife and we have a marriage bed,
-
I cannot sleep with any other woman, only my wife.
-
We are married.
-
Only, So God is jealous. God like a husband would
-
be jealous, a wife would be jealous because you are married.
-
You're only for each other only. Don't mess around don't
-
play a fool. You've made a covenant before the Lord God.
-
You're a jealous God. No one can share the bed,
-
No one can share. No one can take your place.
-
No one, not my job, not my money, not my future,
-
no my family, nor my children. No one can take
-
your place. He's jealous. He says, you are for me.
-
I am for you. I bought you with the price
-
I gave you my life. Hallelujah, Thank you Jesus. No
-
one else should take his place. You know, even a
-
mother will bring her baby to you and say, oh,
-
so cute, so cute, and you can play with the baby.
-
She'll allow you to carry, caddle, being shared. But as
-
soon as you act like the mother, the mother's going
-
to take her back. Because you can do anything with
-
a child as him, play with a child. But you
-
cannot take the mother's place. You cannot take the father's place.
-
You just cannot take God's place. God will be very jealous,
-
very very upset. Father, in the name of Jesus, our
-
time is up, long time ago. But I just want
-
to pray as we close, Oh Lord, let your word
-
go forth and not return to your void. Your people here,
-
you love them so much you love them so much.
-
Come out.
-
Send to your feet, everybody. I think you've said for
-
a long time, send your feet. Thank you, thank you,
-
thank you, thank you. Oh. I wish I had more jokes.
-
I wish I had more laughter. But you know, I
-
have to leave you this because I believe we've got
-
to end a year well, and I believe we've got
-
to start the new year well.
-
Amen. Thank you Jesus. Number one, what is it? Number one?
-
What is it? Number one? What is it? Number two?
-
What is it? Number three? What is it? Put away
-
other gods? I'm gonna do you one more time? Number one?
-
What is it? Number two? What is it? Number three? Father,
-
the name of.
-
Jesus, We lit up our hearts, we lit up our
-
hands before you.
-
We know that you are a holy God. Yes, you
-
are holy.
-
Take your sandals off your feet for this holy ground.
-
We take our shoes off.
-
As Eastern citizens, we take our shoes off into people's house.
-
Why because we respect them.
-
The lady of the house had cleaned the house so well.
-
It's clean law. We don't walk into the house with
-
our shoes. We respect. God is a holy god, clean God.
-
We respect him. We respect him with all our hearts.
-
We don't want to mess around. He's a jealous God.
-
No one should be able to take his place, husband's
-
don't don't let any other man take your place. Be
-
a good husband. If your wife wants to talk to you,
-
talk to her. Don't let another man talk to her.
-
Come on, listen, you don't understand this. Sometimes, don't let
-
another woman take your wife's place.
-
Wives, be careful.
-
If someone else is talking to your husband more than
-
you are, and you to be thinking why, maybe because
-
you are not talking to him. So listen, don't let
-
anyone else take the place, the rightful place.
-
Husbands, wives, children, fathers.
-
You know. Yeah, we can play with you, we can
-
laugh with you, job with you, but you cannot take
-
the place. You cannot replace, and you cannot replace God.
-
