  1. You're listening to a message to go from acts Church.

  2. We hope this message will light up your day.

  3. Today. We're gonna be uh miss sharing from a numbers

  4. twenty two. So if you have your Bibles with you,

  5. you can turn over to numbers twenty two and all

  6. this would make a bit more sense later on, Okay,

  7. But the whole main aim today is to determine who

  8. the real donkey is is one, and then really learning

  9. from you know, learning from this experience or from this story,

  10. and seeing how we can really follow God's leap. Uh

  11. and and and and and just to give you a

  12. bit of background if you're turning to numbers twenty two,

  13. uh and, I was just gonna share a bit of

  14. background where the context is uh and you see next slide.

  15. These are some of the characters involved. I know it

  16. might be a bit small. When I did it on

  17. the on my screen, it looks okay, but somehow when

  18. it comes here, but it's fine, okay. Main characters that

  19. we have here, Okay, even I can't read that. Okay,

  20. never mind, Okay, we have uh uh you know balam

  21. or baalam Okay, depending on which part of the where

  22. you come from. Uh he he is one of the

  23. characters that is King of Moab that is involved in there.

  24. And then the Angel of the Lord, which is an

  25. angel is involved in that story. Now some context is that, uh,

  26. the people the Israelites were were you know, spending that

  27. forty years uh, but there was always go to the

  28. Promised Land, but they didn't. And this is their journey

  29. in that forty years before they went to the Promised Land.

  30. So uh, the second time around, so they were actually

  31. passing by and as on their way to Canaan, they

  32. were passing by this place called Moab. It circled here

  33. very small, I know, uh here and I blew it

  34. a little bit more so you know where that is

  35. the purple bit. So they were passing by Moab and

  36. that top left corner. I used AI degenerates about the

  37. images just for fun. Okay, So that is a AI

  38. generated king black Okay, who is the king of Moab

  39. at the point in time. This is the main star

  40. of the show. And you know, this is the mains

  41. of the show here. But uh Baalam is one of

  42. the prophets that in this in this story. And then

  43. there is that donkey which we'll read about later on.

  44. So they were passing by this place on the way

  45. to the Promised Land. Okay, and this is where the

  46. story begins begins. Sorry, okay, So just to give some

  47. contexts as well, when you look to twenty two, No,

  48. there was some fear in in in in the king,

  49. and therefore he summoned this prophet to seek some help. Okay,

  50. that's the main context. Now you will say that, Okay,

  51. everybody sort of know the superpowers in the world right

  52. of the world today, like like like you know, the US,

  53. that kind of Spock can also Batman's per men whatever

  54. man you can think of Aquaman. Yeah, but when I'm

  55. talking about countries, you know, China and all that kind

  56. of stuff. Yeah, also canla. Now let's think of the

  57. context of Malaysia. When they say Malasia gets attacked by

  58. the superpowers, you know, it will be quite a you

  59. know who will win the battle because of our maybe

  60. limited arsenal Okay, just in general. Right, so this is

  61. even higher than that level. I explain why. It's akin

  62. to maybe even the aliens coming and invade and attacking you.

  63. Let me explain why. Okay, Now, the reason why this

  64. is bigger than the military power. If you turn to

  65. the next the next slide with the verse in Exodus,

  66. these are the people, the Israelites that we're following a

  67. pillar of cloud by by. By night is a pillar

  68. of fire to give them light, and during the day

  69. it's a pillar of cloud. That kind of background story.

  70. So again using AI to generate some of the fun stuff,

  71. I've got a lot of variations of this. Some literally

  72. write one pill and then they just generate the pillar

  73. of fire and cloud, okay, but some some also will

  74. think that there might be two pillars, two types, one cloud,

  75. one fire, okay. But again, regardless of what it is,

  76. it's simply amazing. You can you can really sort of

  77. imagine this now. So if you are a king of

  78. a particular kingdom and then you see people that are

  79. going to come past you with the kind of a

  80. background okay, literally right, you can see them from afar

  81. because they are guided by this sort of context. So

  82. if you see a flying saucer, that's less scary than

  83. something like this. That's what I'm trying to say, Okay,

  84. So try to paint the picture and the context of why,

  85. of the of where this king that we're going to

  86. be reading about, uh starts okay, and this is the

  87. story and where the story begins. Okay, So again flying

  88. saucer aliens attacking. No bigie, this is something even bigger

  89. than that, right because you don't know, Like I said,

  90. when youre attacked by superpowers, you know who's gonna win

  91. or you maybe even call it bigger superpower to come

  92. and save you. This guy seeing something that he's never

  93. seen before, He's gonna call upon a prophet to come

  94. and save the day. That's the general context. Okay, so

  95. we'll read, we'll come to back to twenty two where

  96. the story begins, so you sort of just give an

  97. idea of how the king felt and why he's in

  98. this position. Now, let's read from numbers twenty two. Thank you.

  99. So Ballam's response is sorry Ballack. King Balack is the

  100. king in Moab. His response to call upon this particular

  101. prophet Ballam Okay, so you can see here. Let me

  102. just read a Okay, now, Ballack the son of Zippor Okay,

  103. saw all of Israel had done to the emirits Okay,

  104. and Moab was exceedingly afraid of the people because there

  105. were many so not just numbers, but because of the

  106. kind of background or the kind of spaceships that they

  107. come in. Okay, to the next tent. Moeb was sick

  108. and dread because of the children of Israel. So Moreeb

  109. sid to the elders of Median. Now this company will

  110. lick up everything around us. Okay, so that I don't

  111. know whether that's a scary thing because of the it's

  112. not the literal licking, but I think some of transition

  113. is really the consuming that kind of a licking up. Okay. Uh.

  114. And if you think I don't know why Jolie's laughing

  115. so much today, uh yeah, because not talking about tongue.

  116. But you know the whole thing about the pillar, cloud

  117. and fire, et cetera. You know, there's a lot of

  118. big things that can really consume this whole thing. So

  119. it licks so as as the ox licks the grass

  120. off the field. So the son of Balack, sorry, the

  121. son of Balack ball like the son of Zippor was

  122. the king of Moebs at the time you shared about earlier.

  123. Then he sent the messengers to Baalum. Okay, this is

  124. the prophet that he's sending some people to and then

  125. to call upon him. Then he says, say, look, people

  126. has come from Egypt. So again, not the Egyptians, right,

  127. I mean Egyptians. Sorry, the Israelites came out of Egypt

  128. going towards the Promised Land and they're spending their forty

  129. years and they're just passing by this point in time. Okay,

  130. they cover their face of the earth and they're settling

  131. next to me. So there's a lot of terror. Now again,

  132. put yourself in the prophet's shoes. Ballum, you get a

  133. call from let's just use the term, the president, the

  134. Prime Minister of Malaysia saying dude, you gotta save me. Man.

  135. This whole army of spaceship is coming. Funnily enough, I

  136. think a few I think a few weeks or a

  137. few a month ago, we went to this Gunting Highlands

  138. and then there was this particular ride called the Independence Day. Right, Okay,

  139. now they have explained what Independence Day is all about

  140. the Will Smith movie. You know that the story. Right,

  141. they call upon the people who can come and save

  142. the day. This is exactly what this prophit is being

  143. summoned to do. Come and save the day, because we

  144. don't know what to do if this alien form or

  145. these things that we've never dealt with before. Okay, this

  146. is the type of desperation that's happening. Okay, Now imagine this,

  147. you put yourself in his shoes. It's like, Wow, the

  148. country is terrified. The country doesn't know what to do.

  149. And here I am. I can do this because of

  150. God in the mix, Okay, because of my relationship with God.

  151. It's in the prophet. I can do things beyond my

  152. own power. Okay. And it's also literally like it's my

  153. time to shine, right, I can do great things. So normally,

  154. what will happen? Right, just as as humans sometimes you

  155. will get over a hitler quite normal, right, Because I

  156. thing that I can do this, I can be the hero.

  157. I can come and save the day. I can be

  158. like Will Smith to beat up the aliens, et cetera. Okay,

  159. I can be the gratitude of the nation to save

  160. the day. Okay. So just to put some context and imagine,

  161. just to play Hollywood a bit. Okay. Now, so let's

  162. read on from verse six. Okay, it says it's therefore

  163. peace come at once, curse these people. So this is

  164. him the king, telling ballam what should happen? Okay, if

  165. it can help me with Okay, they are too mighty

  166. for me. Perhaps I shall be able to defeat them

  167. and then drive them out of the land. For I

  168. know that he whom you blessed is blessed, and he

  169. whom you curse is cursed. So this is the king

  170. establishing the power of God, the God who Baylim worships. Okay,

  171. So just to give you some context out, So the elders,

  172. so the elders of Moab and the elders of Medium

  173. departed with the diviner's fee. It means bringing some riches, la,

  174. some payment, some goal or whatever it is. They came

  175. to Baylorm and spoke to him the words of like messenger,

  176. and then he said to them, Lord's here tonight. This

  177. is the prophet speaking chill. I will bring back the

  178. word to you as the Lord speaks to me. So

  179. this is almost akin to me. Let me go and

  180. pray about it kind of a context. Let me seek

  181. the Lord to see what he's say great correct, right?

  182. Sometimes you know here I can see the day. But

  183. let me check the Lord for sla, just to make

  184. sure they'm right. Okay. So the princess of Moab stayed

  185. in Ballum, stay b Balum while he does his own thing. Okay,

  186. every okay, so far with the story. Okay. So Ballum

  187. tells them, let me check with God. I'll come back

  188. to you. Let's look at verse nine. Okay. Then God

  189. came to Baylim, this is a prophet, and said, who

  190. are these men with you? As if you don't know?

  191. But anyway, verse ten. So Ballim said to Uh, said

  192. to God, Ballad, the son of zippor king of Moab,

  193. has sent to me saying eleven, look at look. People

  194. has come out of Egypt, and they cover their face

  195. off the earth. Come now curse them for me. Perhaps

  196. I shall be able to overpower them and drive them out. Okay.

  197. So he came and literally ask God to do what

  198. the king's request is, or the primacy request is. Okay,

  199. can you help me do this? So God said to Baylim,

  200. you shall not go with them. You shall not curse

  201. the people, for they are blessed. Of course we know

  202. the context. These are God's people. Of course they say

  203. you can't you can't touch them. Okay. So Balim rose

  204. in the morning and then said to the Prince of

  205. Ballap these are the messengers. Go back to your land.

  206. The Lord has refused to give me permission to go

  207. with you. I will not come back with you. I

  208. will not help you. I'm so sorry. Lord says no,

  209. that's in short, okay, all right, So imagine what we're

  210. going through his head as he delivers it. In one moment,

  211. this is my time to shine, man, I can do this.

  212. But then God says no. See God writing the door,

  213. see God saying okay, I did the right thing. Sorry,

  214. Boss says no, please go back. I can't come with you. Okay.

  215. So that's where that story ends. And sometimes, right if

  216. you think about it in that picture, in that context, right,

  217. all the fame, all the richest, the instant glory can happen,

  218. but he has to go back, stay in his I

  219. wouldn't know what context. Maybe it's like a his his heart,

  220. his sharp, his farm or whatever it is. He just

  221. sit there on the rock, maybe even regretting what he did, okay,

  222. or what he could have done. Okay, And it's very normal, right,

  223. kicking the dirt maybe a man. Maybe if God, he

  224. misses Chancellor, it is another way to put it, Okay,

  225. he misses chance. He might even be discouraged, a depressed

  226. because it's a once in a lifetime change, you know

  227. how often does the King come to you when nobody

  228. else on earth can help you? He comes, and so

  229. they might be regrets. So I'm putting this next slide up.

  230. Let me ask you, have you ever felt bad about

  231. doing what is good or what is right? Because it's

  232. exactly what's happening here. He's doing the right thing. He's

  233. doing the correct thing. In fact, he's doing what God

  234. has called him to do. But sometimes we have second thoughts.

  235. We think, howla, we don't quite enjoy it. Like another

  236. way to put it. Okay, I don't like it, Lord,

  237. but okay, if you say so, I will do it.

  238. La okay. And this is where the story begins, because

  239. the devil will always use these small little things to

  240. get in. Because of that man, maybe I should have

  241. done it differently. And let's read the story further. Honor

  242. from verses fifteen okay, so sorry, fourteen says he refused

  243. to come if he went back, delivered the news to say,

  244. refuse to come back. So fifteen again, what they better do?

  245. The King send more people, more numerous, and more honorable.

  246. It means more stuff, bigger. Maybe ten thousand wasn't enough.

  247. Maybe let's raise it up to one million or whatever

  248. the currency is on that day. Okay, let's give them more. Okay.

  249. And they came to Ballam and said to him, does

  250. says Ballam, the son of Zippor again have to announce

  251. the titles and all that. Please, let nothing hinder you

  252. from coming with me to me, for I will certainly

  253. honor you greatly. So also promising not just richest, but

  254. honor title. I'll knight you, I will make sure everybody

  255. knows who you are. Okay, I'll make sure what you're

  256. to do again, same thing. Just curse the people that

  257. are coming, true, I'm afraid of them. Okay. So then

  258. Ballum answered the same thing. Uh, those Ballad were to

  259. give me house of full sorry house his house full

  260. of silver and gold. I could not go beyond the

  261. words of the Lord again, No, because Lord says no,

  262. I cannot. I'm so sorry. Even though you raised it double, triple, quadruple,

  263. whatever it is, I cannot because the Lord says so

  264. says so okay, So now therefore, please you can stay

  265. here tonight, but let me chere the Lord again just

  266. in case. Okay. So again we all Noah from a

  267. few years before, it was not about God's plan for

  268. this to happen. But maybe it's his desire, or maybe

  269. it's just okay. Maybe I can check Anila, no harm right,

  270. no harm checking just to make sure that maybe God

  271. was made a mistake earlier. Let's just try again. Let's

  272. just try to make sure that the clear note is no. Okay.

  273. So that's why he did he went back. And then

  274. in verse twenty you read there, so God came to

  275. bailim at that night. If the men come to call you,

  276. rise and go with them, but only the word which

  277. I speak to you, that you shall do. Oh wow,

  278. change it, you know? So God say okay? And thus

  279. travel travel approval go go okay. So Ballim rose in

  280. the morning set it on this donkey. And this is

  281. where the donkey's story starts. And when the Princess of Moab,

  282. when if the whole party back. Now, let me just

  283. pause here for a while and just quickly mention something.

  284. Sometimes we know, we we we we you know, we

  285. we hear from God. Uh, and then we know of

  286. a certain direction. And then sometimes we maybe a bit

  287. more adamant, and then we try again, okay, and then

  288. we ask and see, maybe God will change his mind.

  289. I mean it's something that we sometimes do. Right. Why

  290. because not because God wasn't clear, but maybe because it

  291. doesn't align with how we see or however how we

  292. perceive God's will should be in the rest system sense. Okay,

  293. so there is a way to describe this, and parents

  294. understand this, Zach, Sorry to use you again. Sometimes when

  295. I say no to Zach about something, let's just use

  296. ice cream now, just for simplicity sake, he will keep

  297. asking over and over again. Now, was that I'm not

  298. clear about it? Probably very clear, But you still come

  299. and he will consistently where you out until you say yes.

  300. Now if even if I say yes, do I agree

  301. with maybe what he should be getting and using ice

  302. creams for example, Probably not right. I still think, like

  303. I know you drop your teeth and all that kind

  304. of stuff, like I should know it's not good for

  305. you kind of thing. But sometimes o killer if you insist, Keller,

  306. go for it and and and it's like this, right parents,

  307. sometimes like you tryler, I may not be happy about it,

  308. but I let you try on your own. Then hopefully

  309. you do not make it. And then I told you

  310. so kind of thing. No, no, no, kidding, kidding, but

  311. but you get the idea. Sometimes God's will is direct,

  312. is very clear and known. He didn't want Ballam to go.

  313. But a lot of times God doesn't really is truly

  314. happy about it. But he has this thing called what

  315. we what Some scholars j. I. Packett calls this a

  316. permissive will. You can read out the book if you

  317. wanted to. It talks about and this is the definition

  318. of what he says. Within God's sovereign will, he chooses

  319. to permit many things to happen that he takes no

  320. pleasure in. That means even though he knows what he wants,

  321. or he knows what his will is, but he allows. Okay,

  322. it's permissive will. God allows of certain things, even sinful

  323. things that in because he knows indirectly, it's still accomplish

  324. his will, but it's not part of his original plan

  325. as from what I'm trying to say. Okay, And it's

  326. often called God's permissive will. You can read up that

  327. particular book. It's called Knowing God by J. I. Pecker. Okay,

  328. So God is literally saying, in this context, all right,

  329. it's not my plan. I don't want this this way.

  330. Let's just do your Wila. Just to see, okay, so

  331. he allows. Now of course he went on on a donkey.

  332. He followed through, and then the next verse vert in

  333. twenty two you read here, so that the title starts

  334. with ballum, the donkey and the angel, or hither's quite

  335. cooler drama. And then he says, yeah straight away, you

  336. know twenty two, the me is twenty one earlier. No problem, go,

  337. I bless you you go suddenly right, God's anger was

  338. aroused because he went straight away. You know. Of course,

  339. sometimes you don't understand the time, how long it takes.

  340. It might be a few things have happened before. Uh,

  341. and some scholars do speculate there are some conditions that

  342. probably not met how God wants it, and that's why

  343. he's a bit angrill. Okay, but either way we know

  344. he's not peace. Okay, you can you can read about this, okay.

  345. And then the Angel of the Lord stood story took

  346. his stand in the way as an adversary against him.

  347. So literally an angel popped out as he was writing

  348. his donkey you do do do do do, and it's

  349. two servings with him, okay. And now the donkey saw

  350. I highlighted the donkeys or donkey saw the Angel of

  351. the Lord standing in the way with his drawn sword

  352. in the hand. That this is a menacing looking in

  353. journal like, I don't know what any made character sort

  354. ready to slash from afar. Okay, the donkey sow, what

  355. did donkey do? Okay? The donkey turned aside out of

  356. the way and went into the field. So imagine this

  357. if you're riding a donkey right, starting a donkey right

  358. like like you know how sometimes we get to sleep

  359. and we will drive off the road a little bit.

  360. There's something like that. But you're like, what on Irvy's

  361. happenese donkey's is putting me to it to the field?

  362. What on Irv's on his donkeys? Stupid? You know a something? No? Donkey? Donkey? Don'key? Okay,

  363. donkey all right, by the way, it's it's it's okay.

  364. Word that the word is is also another word for donkey,

  365. but but I won't say it here. Okay. Uh? And

  366. so so ball what do you do? Ballant? What do

  367. you do? He struck the donkey, He shipped the donkey

  368. and turn to turn her back onto the road to

  369. steer her back. What whack the fow come back? Then?

  370. The Lord. Sorry. Then the Angel of the Lord stood

  371. in the narrow path between the vineyards and with a

  372. wall on this side and the wall on that side.

  373. Twenty five the donkey saw. So second time the donkey

  374. saw the Angel of the Lord or a way menacing.

  375. So now the donkey pushed herself against the wall. And

  376. not only that in this context, right the he also

  377. crushed Ballom's foot. He said, she got hurt, you know,

  378. So what did he do? Lashing again? So now it's

  379. not just of course you of course, and got my

  380. foot into trouble. I'm hurt, I'm in pain. So probably

  381. lashing is a bit harder. I don't know, yeah, okay.

  382. Twenty six. Then the ajurer a lot went further so

  383. the third time okay, stood in a narrow place. So

  384. now no place to go with oh man, what no

  385. place to even veeer off? Okay, no place to turn

  386. on the left or to the right. Okay, So and

  387. donkey saw the angel again. So what did the thing do?

  388. Just lay under ballum? Okay, now lay under ballum. Right,

  389. it's literally right. Just you know, donkeys, when they sit down, right,

  390. they will move final, right, they just I won't move.

  391. I'm not gonna move anymore? Why because can not turn left,

  392. can turn r. I'm gonna escape more. I see danger.

  393. I just sit down, okay, And then, of course we

  394. know for the third time Ballam's anger was aroused. He

  395. struck the donkey for his staff again. All right, every okay,

  396. so far the story, simple story. I wouldn't very soon anyway,

  397. that's kidding great, yeah, but but but it's there's a

  398. lot to learn from here, okay, uh, trying it. Then

  399. the Lord opened the mouth of the donkey, and then

  400. she said to Ballam, the donkey, saying, ah, what have

  401. I done to you that you have struck me three times?

  402. I can't I can't imitate the donkey's voice, so you're

  403. probably just that. And Ballum said the donkey, because you've

  404. abused me, I wish there were sort in my hand

  405. for now, I would kill you. Drama mama, man tell you,

  406. but I love this, you know, I mean you think

  407. that you know in Shrek was the first time a

  408. donkey spoke. No, probably this is the first time a

  409. donkey spoke, just saying okay, just saying. And and if

  410. you look at this right, balla diven flinch. You know,

  411. if a donkey the zoo. We see donkeys right from

  412. time to time. If a donkeys spoke, I will freak out, man.

  413. But he's like, yeah, in fact he was. Maybe he's

  414. angry that that. Sorry, he cannot focus on the miracle

  415. of the donkey speaking. But you know, he just he

  416. just you know what on earth? Man? He argued the donkey,

  417. as though the donkey was one of his servants. Like really, man,

  418. so hopefully give you a snapshot of the situation. Uh

  419. And you know I literally right translated what he said

  420. there is I'm beating you because you made a full

  421. of me. You made me look stupid, because you know why,

  422. he's actually traveling in the convoy as well. All the princess,

  423. all the escorts that were with him to go to

  424. the to to to back to the king. They're all

  425. there and witness this thing happening. Imagine this, right, if

  426. you are the guy's gonna save the world from aliens, Hey,

  427. you can't even steal your donkey, straight I think the

  428. credibility just drop straight away, right, I can't keep my

  429. donkey in check, right, So that's why it's angry. And

  430. sometimes you're like this, right manna I don't want to

  431. look at GPS. I know where I'm going. I can't

  432. even steal my donkey straight. And that's why he probably

  433. lashed out. Okay, the the I don't have it here,

  434. but in the Message Bible, the transition says, because you've

  435. been playing games with me, let messus thinking that the

  436. donkey is purposefully doing this to make me look bad. Okay,

  437. so drama, lah, I take out a sort I want

  438. to simboe or kill you, all right, that's what it is.

  439. Now again, you can't blame him for doing that because

  440. again everybody's looking at him. He makes this whole stitution

  441. makes him look dumber than the donkey. Eler it is

  442. another way to put it. He made donkey just made

  443. a fool out of him. So, and this is where

  444. I think we need to start looking at what we

  445. can learn from this donkey. Okay. The truth is that

  446. all of us have been one way another in this

  447. situation as well. Okay, that we maybe not so clever

  448. or dumber than the donkey. Okay, now let's read out

  449. first and then i'll explain. Let's read thirty. So the

  450. donkey said to ball him, am I not your trusty donkey,

  451. you know, of whom you've ridden for many, many years,

  452. okay until up to right now. Have I ever done

  453. anything like this to you before? Have I? Then he said, no,

  454. well he knows, you know. Donkey has always been like this,

  455. car tip top condition always goes straight, sunny today and

  456. car break down. Okay? Uh. And then God helped Ballim

  457. see thirty one what was going on? He saw God's

  458. angel blocking the way, you know, having a sword. So

  459. Ballom fell to the ground, his face in the dirt.

  460. And then the angel said to him, why have you

  461. beaten your poor donkey these three times? I have come

  462. here to block your way because you've you're getting way

  463. ahead of yourself. Huh. And then the donkey saw and

  464. turned away from me three times. If she hadn't, I

  465. would have killed you by this time, but not the donkey,

  466. and he's spared the donkey. Donkey's very clever. I would

  467. have led her off. Now, friends, it's very important that

  468. we understand this afternoon that sometimes we need to be ah,

  469. you know, a bit smarter than Donkey says, for sure,

  470. because sometimes we may not see and I know a

  471. lot of times we are putting a situation that we

  472. may even do things that make us appear dumber than

  473. a donkey. Okay, And some of the goals I think

  474. in life for us as a whole is to at

  475. least out smart this particular donkey here. Right, It's a

  476. very simple thing to do, right, Just trust. And my

  477. fear is if we just focus on this whole story

  478. about the donkey and all that, and of course not

  479. looking beyond the miracle, we may not catch the main

  480. point of this. The point here is that the donkey

  481. is there to ensure that you are fine. Okay. I

  482. put a next light up, and I proposally put this

  483. donkey picture because I think, again it's not the donkey

  484. and Shrek, but I think this is humorous. Okay, So

  485. how this person is scooped by a donkey and the

  486. reason why I think God uses a donkey is because

  487. he wanted to use or pain the picture of an

  488. unlikely source of wisdom. Okay, that again, donkey, you should

  489. not Yeah, this is the story. Okay, So let's learn

  490. from Ballum's story. Now, even Peter talks about this. Okay,

  491. if you go to tewod Peter two fifteen to sixteen. Okay,

  492. is it up Yep, there forsaken the right way and

  493. gone astray, following the way of Baylim, the son of

  494. Be or the same guy who loved the wages of unrighteousness,

  495. but he was rebuilt for the iniquity. A dumb donkey

  496. speaking of a man's voice restrained the madness of the prophet.

  497. So again another reference of this particular story. Right, and

  498. of course, now the answer is sort of revealed. Why

  499. the angel was gonna slash that slash this prophet because

  500. this profit, although he's doing what appears to be doing

  501. the right thing, he actually loved the wages of unrighteousness

  502. and it took a stupid donkey to save his life.

  503. Recorded elsewhere, you know, what does it mean by the

  504. wages of and righteousness? Some transition used the word wickedness

  505. instead of unrighteousness. So you wicked, wicked guy, You wicked

  506. wicked guy. So what was Balen's problem? Again, it's not

  507. that he doesn't obey. He obeyed, he got clearance. But

  508. underlying all that, maybe perhaps he's doing for the wrong reasons.

  509. Maybe he loves the limelight, the glory, the money, the power,

  510. the recognition. Okay, and what did the Bible call this madness,

  511. you gilla power crazy. I don't know what it is. Okay,

  512. So the problem really maybe you live all these other

  513. things instead of the having the right heart even when

  514. it's doing something that appears to be correct. Now, let

  515. me take a pause from all this for a while, Uh,

  516. just a myself. We've always talk about retiring one day

  517. and buying a caravan. Uh, it's one of our life

  518. long dreams. I don't know where it came from. Maybe

  519. some of the stories she's read. Uh. And uh, yeah,

  520. we were. We were traveling in Western Australia, I think

  521. last year of the year before, I can't remember. Uh.

  522. And then we also bum into people. Uh. These are

  523. what they called grain nor mets. They when they retired,

  524. they buy a caravan, which can cause an arm and

  525. they can cost a you know more even more expressive

  526. in the house, and then they travel okay, and the

  527. mobile home that they move around okay. Uh. And so

  528. we also thought, okay, let's try let's just give it

  529. a test drive, like literally test drive the whole caravan

  530. hobo life for a while. So instead of renting hiring

  531. a regular car, we hired a caravan, but not the

  532. scale caravan, A small, smaller, the cheaper one. Yes, because

  533. why I'm Chinese. Uh No, it's it's it's a it's

  534. a it's a modified van. So it's called camper vent

  535. in seat of a caravan, but it's a startler. Now

  536. in that particular camper vent there is fridge, seeing water, stove,

  537. storage places, bid biddings, two stories quite high. Uh you know,

  538. driving drivers and all that. So it pecks up and

  539. then goes. Okay. Now now why why why am I

  540. talking about this? Is because you know, all these sort

  541. of things, at least in western countries, right, they are

  542. built for a certain purpose, and there's a certain threshold

  543. when it comes to let's say, things like weight. Okay.

  544. So even Malaysia, you know, when you you read some

  545. of the transporting vehicles, right, there's a brack cassider side okay,

  546. what they call the gross vehicle wait okay allowance okay,

  547. and there's certain classes for this. So now why is

  548. it all important? I know, most obviously we don't care,

  549. right because when you buy a car, who checks the

  550. gross weight allowance? We just buy a car and then jalan, right.

  551. But of course we know that in design there's always

  552. these things affected in otherwise, right, if you jump into

  553. a car, you feel that too much tank? I say, yes,

  554. what do you feel up full tank? I say, half tang?

  555. And why full tank? Are the ties you explode because

  556. it's gone beyond the allowance and because something like this,

  557. you know, there's more items everything you put in, you peck,

  558. more stuff you put in the fridge, et cetera, it

  559. might go over the limit. Okay, I'm just painting a

  560. picture or why. Sometimes things are built to a certain capacity,

  561. a limit, and then if you go over the limit,

  562. it may not operate how you wanted to operate. Okay,

  563. So back to life. Exceeding those kind of access weight

  564. in life can and also compromise the way we operate.

  565. So we may be chugging along, but maybe not at

  566. the the origin design. Things may happen, right like lries

  567. go over limit. Things may happen because they're not designed

  568. to take it. And the excess way that we talk

  569. about here, the imbalance can compromise the origin design as

  570. one and in life as a general. You read all

  571. the Bible stories and all that, usually the two things

  572. that usually goes up to the very top in terms

  573. of excess way in life is really two things, pride

  574. and greed. Human pride and human greed. Yay, and this

  575. is the thing that we is meant to be focused on.

  576. So that's Ballam's problem. Okay, now one more thing, just

  577. to share our story sidetracked a bit. You know, recently

  578. we went we went to have some lunches Insurius and

  579. there's this particular mad that they change and made it

  580. to like a meaning go cart kind of a thing,

  581. remember you zipping around the go cut, and they were

  582. having a lot of fun. Initially, when Zach got on,

  583. he was a little bit afraid of that that car

  584. because he didn't floor it, uh trying. You know, all

  585. this are designed to to operate a certain speed, as

  586. sure my other son is. Briefly, just after a while, right,

  587. they realized right that actually the car very very is

  588. very challenging for the car to what do they call it,

  589. turn turnover, overturn or whatever it is, because it's quite

  590. wide center gravity is quite slow and is quite low.

  591. And then therefore even flooring it, it's fine. It's quite

  592. safe in a sense. Then Zach started to do something

  593. funny like you will do things like pulling hand break skinny. Uh, doughnuts,

  594. et cetera. You know, we're just going very fast, a

  595. lot of confidence.

  596. Uh.

  597. And then they then they were racing, right uh. And

  598. then funny enough, right when they were racing. So even

  599. when Zach's doing funny things right as, she couldn't really overtake, right,

  600. remember the time she couldn't overtake? Now, why couldn't it

  601. even though this guy's doing funny things, right, It's because

  602. after a what he realized, Right, It's not so much

  603. how much I flow, it's because of how much maybe

  604. perhaps the guy who's limiting the power the engine over there,

  605. because you know that they have to keep it safe,

  606. so they very dial it down to the Mexico capacity. Right.

  607. So sometimes you feel sometime's life is like this, Right.

  608. You feel like you're in control, but you know you're

  609. not in control. Someone else is deep remotely slowing you down.

  610. I don't need to because I only keep otherwise. I

  611. got lot of people to do the kind of thing, right. So,

  612. so you think you're in charge of the driving seat. No, no,

  613. you're not. And even in the context ashes speed was

  614. limited because of the guy who's juggering the place. You

  615. just stop the guy doing run too fast. Okay, So

  616. Bellum is also in the same context. He thought he

  617. was in charge, he thought he had it. But the

  618. problem here, back to this is really the whole thing

  619. about greed and also pride. Greed and pride made him

  620. to certain extent be disloyal to God. And therefore, even

  621. though it appears to be doing it out of God's

  622. interests and will's actually doing his own interests. But hang on,

  623. didn't he ask twice? Didn't God say okay twice? Yeah

  624. he did, But still God had to God see true.

  625. You know, God doesn't see just the outwardly appearance of

  626. what you do is really what's inside. Another AI photograph,

  627. I love AI. This is a photograph, or rather a

  628. jerrecor AI, a photo of a building that appears to

  629. be okay, but we know underneath that building there is

  630. a detrimental problem. On the sophace, you can't see much.

  631. And this is something like what we see. I mean,

  632. don't want those talk about some of the incidences that

  633. we've seen where people fall into man holes, but it's

  634. something like that. Right on the surface, it looks okay.

  635. On the surface, there's no problem. It's mes subtle, but

  636. actually there's a detriment, but there's a bigger problem that

  637. we don't really see. And pride and greed is exactly

  638. like that. It may feel okay in my feel some

  639. people say self confident or a very strong character, man

  640. made for himself. He deserves it, you know. Actually it's

  641. all the problem here. Jeremiah twenty nine tells us to

  642. seek the Lord with all our hearts, all your heart.

  643. That means do a hard check, is it right? Paul?

  644. In Romans one to night, Sorry I got the wrong

  645. verse there, Romans one to nine, it says there, God

  646. knows how often you pray day and night. I bring

  647. you your needs in prayer to God, how you bring

  648. your prayer? Sorry, your needs in prayer is when I

  649. serve you with all my heart all you know, not

  650. just a bit, all all my heart. So he says,

  651. serve the Lord with all his heart. And again Ballim

  652. did did sort no, did seek the Lord, but maybe

  653. not with all his heart. There was a problem there.

  654. He did it with maybe a not so clean heart.

  655. And that is the problem. Now people out there who

  656. are non believers, right, they nominally do this problem. And

  657. because they don't have a pretense of like saying that

  658. you know God is in charge, you know you just

  659. they just do whatever they want to do. But for

  660. ust Christians, sometimes we say God, you're in charge, You're

  661. in control, I'm doing your will, but then we don't

  662. really believe that, or we do something a bit different.

  663. So whilst next light Baylim says God is in charge,

  664. his actual attitude reflects attitude within his heart, reflects that

  665. when I say i'm is he he's in charge because

  666. he made the pretense to say that God, You're in charge,

  667. seek a few times get God's approval, but then in

  668. actual fact his attitude shows otherwise, his attitude shows that

  669. he actually may be disloyal. It's different from God's will.

  670. He actually knew God's will to be very specific. He

  671. wanted God to agree with him. In fact, he's seeking

  672. to change God's will. And sometimes if you're not careful,

  673. we are like that too. Right, we read the Bible

  674. a certain way to try to align it with our

  675. personal will. Right, or we prayer with storm to say God,

  676. this is how should be. God, Lord, make let it happen.

  677. And sometimes we can fool ourselves essentially because you've already

  678. heard it very clearly at the very start, son, daughter,

  679. this is not meant for you. You're not supposed to

  680. be doing this, You're not meant to be there. But Lord,

  681. I really want to I really want to be with

  682. that person. I really want to go to that place.

  683. I really feel that this is the season for me.

  684. And you persistently go through it, so you're not really

  685. looking for God for it answelized. Essentially, you're just doing

  686. it until you wear him down. Okay, you you you

  687. you think you know bettera essentially, So you have to

  688. be very careful with that because if you do that,

  689. you're going to do it with your will rather than

  690. God's will. And that's something that you need to be

  691. very careful because that conscience that you have used to

  692. have slowly wish and very soon to kind of tell

  693. whether it is you or God. Right back to the

  694. story about the whole race thing. You think that you're

  695. in control, God's in control, but I floor it. I

  696. just try to see whether I can go faster. I mean, son,

  697. he's holding me back. I can't go faster if we

  698. think God's in charge. And sorry, if we think we

  699. are in charge rather then I think we can be

  700. not so clever anymore, we can be not as clever

  701. as donkey. Already. Isaiah one three says this, the Ox

  702. knows its master, and again the reference are the donkey

  703. its owner owners meaner. But Israel does not know. My

  704. people do not understand. So again reference to donkey somewhere else.

  705. His donkey story really gives and gifts and gifts. You know, right,

  706. God is saying here, my people do not understand. Israel

  707. did not understand what the donkey and Ox understood. Even

  708. not so clever animals can understand this. But you, my people,

  709. chosen people, cannot get it. God is in church. God

  710. is in charge. I put the next slide there. God

  711. is in charge. Yeah, what was best? Boss? So if

  712. you know the office, it's like a Michael Scott kind

  713. of cup. Anyway, I'm like ressing here, So what is

  714. how does it apply to us as a church? It's

  715. the most important thing here? How does this all apply

  716. to you? What am I talking about here? What is

  717. the application? Like what we always used to say? Right? It?

  718. Two things? Right? Two things? Stop the beating, don't or

  719. act the donkey anymore. The Donkey's trying to communicate truth,

  720. but here you are preventing it. From helping you, okay,

  721. And of course second thing is really you need to

  722. seek God's vision to be clear on that, because if

  723. you lose the plot, then we're beating the wrong donkey

  724. as sola poor donkey, right, no, no, no, no, really

  725. no no reason for you to get hit. But he

  726. got hit even though he's doing his best in this

  727. context to save and prevent the master from getting harm.

  728. Didn't donkey say earlier? So many years you've journeyed with me.

  729. Don't you trust me? Have I ever once put you

  730. in harm and danger? Maybe just once like your food

  731. can not But that's better than dying, right, But you know, yeah, Well,

  732. aside from that, I also want us to not just

  733. focus on badum but also focus on the donkey. The

  734. donkey here, right, he's loyal to his master. Am I

  735. asking us to if the donkeys maybe maybe is here

  736. numbers twenty two, twenty nine that says that he almost

  737. got killed. The Master was so angry he wanted to

  738. kill him. Can you imagine being beaten, beaten and beaten

  739. until the pointer I want to kill you kind of

  740. beating you know that the donkey Still I don't move

  741. step fast even in the brink of death. But how

  742. long can you survive like this? How long can you argue?

  743. How long can you host still stand firm with what

  744. you believe in, with the vision that you see, if

  745. God chooses to show you that vision, how long imagine

  746. you get wallop? I don't know whether the wallop is

  747. to be used this in this context. This day, you

  748. get a wallop Indian Indian family might know this better

  749. by any And it's gidding juicide. You get whacked a

  750. few times, right, you probably got bruisers and all that.

  751. By the way. I grew up with that kind of

  752. leve flower, so I also tasted it a bit. Uh

  753. you know. He but he just kept doing what he

  754. knows is right. The donk here, So really, what I'm

  755. trying to say is be loyal to the vision, be

  756. loyal to God's will. That's the key here. You know.

  757. Sometimes right when we hear and we you know, let's say,

  758. our our leaders, this is what past I know. I've

  759. got his I've got his bit of his permission to

  760. talk about this. Let's say Pastor shares a particular vision.

  761. I'm not calling him a donkey, by the way, but uh,

  762. he jokes aside if he shares a vision and it

  763. suggests a particular change and then we don't agree, what

  764. do we do? We beat the donkey? Right? Normal? Right,

  765. So you're very careful here. What if you're beating the

  766. wrong donkey? What if it's really God's will? And the

  767. last thing you want to do is, you know, do

  768. this because it's maybe not align with your preference out

  769. of something that's not convenient for you. It's not traditional

  770. we do this? Why do you have to move down?

  771. And all these kind of things. But the solution here

  772. is really not about beating the beating each other up

  773. literally because of our differences or our differences and opinion.

  774. Really it's really going back to who's in charge. What

  775. is God's vision? What is God trying to tell you?

  776. I put up these proverbs here. Iron sharpened iron, So

  777. one person sharpens another. Okay, crazy, right? Iron shopping iron

  778. use the same thing to sharpen the other thing. You

  779. don't use plastic to sharpen iron. So that's why sometimes

  780. you are very big on this whole disciple ship thing

  781. as well. It's a lot of trust in it, and

  782. only people can sharpen people. So trust your God appointed leaders.

  783. Also because maybe they're doing according to God's will. And

  784. if you trust something else, maybe some other people outside

  785. that context, they may not be the right people to

  786. sharpen you because you might be try and use plastic

  787. to sharpen iron. Okay, so anyway, let's just wrap it

  788. all up. Extreme can come up. Really, it's a very

  789. straightforward sermon literally, just talking about donkeys aside. But yeah,

  790. I put up the last slide ah to tie it

  791. all up. Okay. Firstly, you know we talk about vision.

  792. What is God's plan for lives? Even for this church,

  793. there is always a vision. Go back to it again,

  794. explore again. God speaks to all of them, by the way,

  795. and usually you're all aligned. Second key thing here is

  796. just as a reminder, always hold your ground. It's the

  797. right thing to do. Keep the integrity. Temptation is, like

  798. I said, Satan's number one recipe to to to the

  799. moment that's any doubt. He sets it straight away. God

  800. said no twice, You're gonna try again, not friend, try again.

  801. We gotta say yes, Lam And of course God you know,

  802. but please hold true. You will be challenged. Stretch in

  803. your schools, your workplaces. Stand firm, believe in what God,

  804. believe in your identity. Don't have to submit to these things.

  805. But in even saying submission, right, we should be submitting

  806. our desires to God for guidance because if you cannot

  807. handle it, say Lord, help me. I can't do this alone.

  808. The third point inside is really gaining wisdom from unexpected

  809. sources sometimes, right, I learned the most things from my son,

  810. a thirteen year old who is smart mouth, but he

  811. humbles me donkey. But yeah, God sends the most unexpected

  812. sources to really get your Remind you again what that

  813. vision is. Fifth point, we open. We open the God's

  814. leading value each other's perspectives, love each other. Why am

  815. I talking about unity, harmony, et cetera. We are all

  816. doing the same thing. We're building towards the same vision.

  817. God's will is like that. So I don't think that

  818. we will hear different things from God. If we do,

  819. maybe one of us are hearing incorrect leader. So maybe

  820. again it's back to back to going and understanding what

  821. God's plan is. First point lastly is to nurture have

  822. a supportive, safe environment. Church is one of this environment.

  823. We just mining talked about the church. Church not just

  824. four walls, it's really a community that nurture. We celebrate

  825. each other's successes, we use testimonies to build each other's

  826. shut it up as well. We are here to nurture.

  827. And if you didn't catch all that, this whole thing

  828. spells the word vision. I know vision, vision twice, but

  829. don't care force it in, force it in. So what

  830. am I saying here? Church? The solution really is to

  831. open up our eyes. Let us seek God's vision together.

  832. Let us be loyal to God's will and not of

  833. our own. Let us love each other. Let us be

  834. not quick to judge, not quick to condemn. But let's

  835. put on grace because we've been showing grace so many

  836. times right. And lastly, really, let's just seek to have

  837. some wisdom here. Let's be smarter than don Keila. We

  838. don't want to be classified as a you bot, open

  839. a fither, not so clever that a donkey can outsmart you.

  840. We hope you've been blessed by this message. For more
