You're listening to a message to go from axt church.
-
We hope this message will light up your tea.
-
Do you all remember what verse she was sharing just now? Okay?
-
So she was sharing from Philippians four, verse six to seven. Right,
-
be anxious for nothing, right, but in everything, through prayer
-
and supplication, make your requests be known to God. Right.
-
So when she shared that for pre service devotion, I
-
was like, wow, okay, because today my sermon is Philippians four,
-
verse eight six and Philippins four verse eight. So she
-
shared six to seven. My sermon today is verse eight
-
all right, So I believe that there are no coincidences.
-
It is God's divine appointment, and that's why I believe
-
that God wants to set us free and to reveal
-
his truth from his work in our lives. Right. So yeah,
-
So like what Jess was saying, how I came about
-
this message was I'm not sure how many of y'all
-
were there during Family Sunday. So if you're there during
-
Family Sunday, I was sharing about Mission impossible right where
-
Daniel he was faced with an impossible mission. Everyone was frantic,
-
everyone was anxious, and they had the reason to be
-
anxious because if they cannot solve the king's question, they
-
will die. Right but God revealed how Daniel tackled it.
-
He's sick for clarity, and then he seek God and
-
God intervened. God used him for his glory. Right So
-
after that, right then I was thinking that why do
-
I mean? I was still not satisfied although God revealed
-
that to me and say that, hey, this is how
-
I'm going to tackle my anxiousness or my I was
-
feeling down at that time, right, so I was saying that, hey,
-
why do I feel down? You know, why do I
-
feel down? And last week Elder Terrence also preached the word.
-
Then he was saying that burnout is from the devil.
-
So I was like, whoa, that's very strong because I
-
felt a bit burnout. You know, I felt a bit burnout.
-
He said, burnout from the devil. So I was like, uh,
-
when you when you when the speaker say something like that,
-
right you. I decided to just think about it, think
-
about it, meditate about it, and uh not not to
-
just cast it out. But hey, there there is a
-
reason why I'm in service. There's a reason why this
-
was said from the pulpit. So I said that, Hey,
-
if it is true, yes, God did not want to
-
live want us to live a life where we are
-
under the circumstances. We are called to be overcomers. Right,
-
we are called to be overcomers. And so I said, yes,
-
that is the life that I want. I want to
-
be an overcomer. So how do I do that? You know?
-
And how do I live a life as an overcomer? Okay?
-
So the first light? Can you put up the first light?
-
So this is the Philippians for verse six to seven,
-
right says, don't worry about anything. Instead, pray about everything,
-
Tell God what you need, thank him for all he
-
has done. Then you will experience God's peace with exceeds anything.
-
We can understand His peace with God your hearts and
-
mind as you live in Christ Jesus. Okay, So this
-
is the new Living translation. So I know this verse.
-
I have preached from this verse before. I have heard
-
many messages about this verse. But how come I'm still anxious?
-
You know? The Bible is it's quite funny something sometimes
-
or ironic. When you're feeling fearful, the Bible just say
-
don't fear You'll be like, what do I do with that?
-
You know I'm feeling fearful, but you tell me don't
-
fear So now you say, hey, I'm feeling anxious. The
-
Bible says, don't be anxious. I'm like, it's like I
-
need more than that. You know, he need more than that.
-
And then this verse they tells you to pray and
-
be uh to have a spirit up gratitude. But how
-
many of us when you are anxious? Right, it is
-
easy to give gratitude to God any of your heart.
-
It's tough, right, It's tough. And I know because I mean,
-
if you have lived more than five years, I think
-
you would have reached. Even kids right right now feel anxious, anxiety.
-
Even kids feel anxiety. And then when you tell the kids, hey,
-
you know how you overcome anxiety give gratitude, I'll be like,
-
what you know? Kind of thing. But as adults we
-
know it. But even though we know it, it sometimes
-
hit knowledge because to practice it takes takes a bit more.
-
It takes a lot more faith. It takes faith to
-
speak life into our situation. You know. So it's like, Okay,
-
how do I get to a place where I speak gratitude?
-
How do I get to a place where I pray
-
so that I will not be anxious. Right, And so
-
what is anxiety? What is anxiety? We have all experienced
-
anxiety before, But what is anxiety? So I saw this
-
definition next life. It is an emotion caused by the
-
brain's reaction to situations, not the situations themselves. So, for example,
-
when we are put into a situation, how our brain
-
reacts and responds causes the anxiety. Two different people can
-
be put into the same situation. One person can be anxious,
-
one person can be happy. How come it's because our
-
brain's reaction to the situation, you know, And that's what
-
caused anxiety. So next light. So most of us are
-
like this, Okay, you'll be like brain, look okay, the
-
heart of saying, hey, look at all the good. You know,
-
be anxious for nothing, but in all things, give gratitude,
-
prayer and stuff that the heart knows. Okay, the heart
-
knows you have to look for the good. You have
-
to look for the good. But then your brain takes
-
a magnifying glass and magnifies the bad. How many of
-
y'all go through this? I know I go through this.
-
You know when somebody tells me, hey, look at the
-
good I'm like, I'll be like looking with the magnifying
-
glass and the bad. You know, it causes me more anxiety.
-
It causes us more anxiousness. And and and you know
-
right from this picture sometimes, right, the bad can only
-
be one piece, It can only be one experience bad.
-
There will be so much of good, but because of
-
that one bad experience, we forget all the good things,
-
because our focus right is on the bad, and we
-
forget all that God has done, on all that He
-
has brought us through. And because of that, it causes
-
us anxiety. Right, And why do we focus on the bad?
-
Why do we focus on the bad? Okay? The word
-
focus right next light because I didn't want to go
-
too deep, but I wanted to just introduce a few
-
concepts because it was a whole study that I went
-
through myself, because to understand why am I feeling this way?
-
Because I need to understand it, then only I can
-
overcome it. Okay, So when we focus on something right,
-
whether it's good or bad, we ruminate. So the word
-
ruminate means, let me just read it out here from
-
my notes, right, Okay, when your mind choose on something
-
over and over again, when your mind choose on something
-
over and over again. Like for example, you you think about, oh,
-
next year, petrol price going up, so you keep on
-
thinking about it. You know, hey, petrol price going up.
-
I'm going to spend more after that, I will recession coming.
-
I'm not sure how much incremental will get or sales
-
is not good bonus and you keep on thinking. Is ruminating?
-
You think it over and away, you chew it and
-
chew it and chew it. The other word ruminate is
-
fro When a cow ruminates. So you know what the
-
cow does, right, how many stomachs there's a cow? Have four?
-
A cow has four stomachs? Yes, So that's an interesting
-
in fact. So when a cow eats grass, all right,
-
that's another fun fact. So when a cow eats grass,
-
it chooses and then it swallows it. It swallows, it
-
goes in the stomach one now it brings it back
-
out again and choose again and goes in the stomach
-
to you know, it ruminates. It gets the most juice
-
out of the grass as possible. So if you look,
-
if you pass, if you drive past any cow, right,
-
it feels like they're chewing chewing gum. I'm like, what
-
why the chewing, chewing. They keep on chewing, but you
-
don't see them eating the grass, you know, they keep
-
on chewing, chewing and chewing, and chewing and chewing. And
-
that is what happens with our thoughts when we focus
-
on the negative. What happens is we settle it and
-
then we bring it back when we are free, especially
-
you're free. When you're free, you've got nothing to do.
-
Think about a bad thing again. Let's chew on it again,
-
to too, and then busy again. Then when you're free again, hey,
-
let's bring it back again. Go to the testomach, bring
-
it away, and then you chew it again. And what
-
kind of nutrition do you think you will be getting
-
from chewing on the bad? On the negative? You are
-
what you eat. You are what you eat right and
-
then right by the time it reaches the thought stomach
-
right in your mind of chewing, you will come to
-
this place called catastrophizing. Catastrophizing that means right, Okay, I'll
-
give you an example. How many of y'all you know
-
you felt an ache in your body? Okay, you didn't
-
know what it was first time. First time you're feeling
-
that ache in the body, What is the first thing,
-
you'll do exercise before that, you google. The first time
-
you feel a weird thing in your body, you take
-
out your phone. You take out your phone and start Googling.
-
You're like, oh my god, I'm gonna die tomorrow. You
-
feel like, how come you know from Sally feeling it?
-
Suddenly you're dying tomorrow based on Google. So this is catastrophizing,
-
you know, is you go straight away to your worst
-
case scenario. So so for example, you know, like last
-
week Calvin, Kevin and Karine were here. So Kevin, uh,
-
I tell you, yeah, thank god. You know, he posted
-
in the x clang group right, so last week towards
-
the end of service, he felt a bit numb on
-
the left hand and then he was like going to
-
pass out after after the service summer we all may
-
have noticed. But then when we took him out and
-
then gave him some food and then the Korean rushed
-
him to the hospital. Uh, then, praise god, he was okay,
-
he was good. But then right when I was talking
-
to him, he said, you know, sunning, my left hand
-
fell numb. Then I took out my phone in Google.
-
I'm going to get a stroke. I'm gonna get now
-
I'm like, bro, chill, no, chill, it may be nothing.
-
You know you, I'll buy you a mile o. You
-
go and see the doctor and then see how it
-
is and praise God. It was it was nothing. Praise God.
-
But you know, our minds we are so used to
-
going to the worst case scenario. We are going to
-
the worst case scenario. And because right we chew on it.
-
We focus on something and we magnify the minor. We
-
major on the minor. We major on the minor, we
-
focus on that. And you see that what happens to
-
our mind is like it's like, it's a mess. It's
-
a mess. So this was, this is this is how
-
my mind works as well. This is how my mind works.
-
It all just to share with you all. And a lot
-
of times, right when we think about anxiety, we think that, hey,
-
it's okay. On it's because last time, I'm the kind
-
of person or so who will overthink. Then I will
-
say that it is a good one. It's critical thinking,
-
critical thinking. I will think of all the solutions all
-
the but it is it is not. If you do
-
it in the essence to improve things, then it is good.
-
But if you do it in the spiral where you
-
go downwards. Then it is not good, you know. And
-
I did not realize that, you know, so I thought
-
of it it was a strength. But actually if it
-
is used in the wrong way, it is a weakness.
-
It is a weakness that will cause my downfall. Okay,
-
So in line with that, right, the title of today's
-
sermon is this next line, we need to redirect and reflect.
-
We have to redirect and reflect because what happens when
-
you're anxious, you are focusing on the negative. When you
-
are focusing on the negative and you try and have
-
a heart of gratitude, can you do that? It seems
-
like oxymoron. You know, you look at the bed and like, God,
-
you were good. But you're looking at the bed and
-
then you're looking at the google. I'm dying tomorrow. This
-
this is what happened. And stuff like I still remember
-
a friend of mine right uh at the time in church,
-
so suddenly she signed out like a prayer request or
-
stuff like that, say that, Hey, I think I got
-
a problem with my liver, you know, please pray tomorrow.
-
I'm going to see a doctor now, I Hey, why
-
what what happened? Oh? Went to the toilet right then
-
there was actually oil. There was oil in in in
-
the when when pass motion. So when you google that,
-
when there is oil when you pass motion, it means
-
ther kidneys are failing. You know. It means your kidney
-
are failing. So they are made a pointment. She and
-
her husband go and see a doctor, say prayer, lean
-
and all this. So when they see the doctor the
-
next day, we just text him how is it? Say, Oh,
-
it's because I ate a fisher. That fish caught some oil,
-
access oil or something. So it's literally nothing, you know,
-
But that is how we can tastrophize. You know, you
-
always go to the worse scenario. Okay, but the verse
-
today right, which I wanted to touch on the next
-
line is this now, dear brothers and sisters. So this
-
is after verse six and seven. Verse second seven is
-
be anxious for nothing? Right, This is verse eight. This
-
is verse eight. Fix your thoughts on what is true
-
and honorable, right and pure and lovely and admirable. Think
-
about things that excellent and worthy of praise. Kick putting
-
into practice all you have learned and received from me,
-
everything you heard from me and saw me doing. Then
-
the peace of God will be with you. The God
-
of peace will be with you. So from peace of
-
God right to now, God will be with you. But
-
the key word here right is to fix your thoughts.
-
Fix your thoughts. What are we thinking about? What are
-
we thinking about? You know? So I'm not sure how
-
many of y'all were were I mean, most of us
-
were around when y'all remember the white two k bug.
-
You'll remember the white two k bug, right, So if
-
you're if you were in church at that time, or
-
I was back in my hometown church and stuff. So
-
the white two k buck for those of y'all who
-
are pre white two k post white two k buck, right,
-
let me explain to you. So everyone expected the world
-
to come to an end and the year two thousand.
-
You know, I because the computers were only programmed to
-
nineteen ninety nine. It's not a joke, it's true. It
-
was true. So it was like a major crisis. It
-
was a major crisis. No, it's like they were saying
-
that the moment is struck. First January twenty the year
-
two thousand, all the bank system, all the navigation systems,
-
your flights, everything will go haywire. In fact, nobody could
-
predict what will happen and all time zones across the world.
-
So when that happened, right, and then in churches, right,
-
I still remember there was this thing called the Joseph Project.
-
How many are all remember that? Yes? So they were
-
selling this boxes right because you were like, apocalypse is coming.
-
You have to eat like dried food and stuff like,
-
because they were they expected. So my parents I bought
-
a couple of boxes and had me and my brother
-
already always be like can we try it? Can we try?
-
Say no, no, I have to wait for year two
-
thousand and then you can, you know, And everyone was
-
fixated on that. You fixated on that, and then you
-
didn't know what is going to happen. But you know
-
what happened on the first of January to the year
-
two thousand. Nothing. It was so anti climatic, It was
-
so anti climatic, It was so boring. Nothing happened, you know,
-
nothing happened. But then the thing is the whole world
-
at that time was fixing their thoughts on that, what
-
could happen? They catastrophiced, you know. But when you do that, right,
-
how can the God of peace be with us? Because
-
our focus is on the negative that is going to happen.
-
And that is why I was thinking, why am I
-
feeling down? Why am I feeling and anxious? Why am
-
I feeling agitated? Because my thoughts are focused on things
-
other than God, and most of the times it's things
-
that we cannot control. Okay, So the first point is
-
this next line focus what are we focusing on? What
-
are we focusing on? So a quick definition of folks
-
next line to give attention, effort, et cetera to one
-
particular subject, situation, or person rather than another. So an
-
example would be if you go on the road right now, Okay,
-
say you're driving and I say look out for casts,
-
you will only see rad casts. You will not see
-
casts of any other color. Or I say, he think
-
of an don't think of an elephant? What do you think?
-
You know? You know that is focused. You know our
-
mind right can immediately zoom in and be fixated on
-
that and especially negative stuff because it is like a
-
defense mechanism. You know, we are is a survival instinct.
-
We are looking at the negative so to try and
-
mitigate so that we will be safe. But that is
-
not the way God wants us to live, because our
-
hope and trust is in God is not in ourselves.
-
When we are anxious, we are saying that a God
-
cannot help me. Only I can help myself. And that's
-
why you room in it. You try and think what
-
am I supposed to do to get out of this situation? Right?
-
And the devil knows this. The easiest way the devil
-
can get you to not focus on God is to
-
give you something else to focus on. That's the easiest way.
-
He doesn't have to convince you God is not real
-
or whatever it is. He just gives you something else
-
to focus on. Next line one Peter five, be alert
-
and of sober mind your enemy. The devil prowls around
-
like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. So
-
we have to be of sober mind. You have to
-
know what you're thinking about. You have to be alert
-
because if you are not alert, thoughts can enter your mind,
-
and the enemy can put in thoughts. And sometimes the
-
enemy do doesn't even have to you. We do self
-
defeating thoughts right next verse, So this is two Corinthians ten.
-
We are destroying sophisticated arguments and every exalted and proud
-
thing that sets itself against the true knowledge of God.
-
And we are taking every thought and purpose capt give
-
to the obedience of Christ. So every thought that goes
-
through our mind, we must take captive. If we do
-
not take captive, it will take us captive. When it
-
takes us captive, that's when we become anxious. We become anxious.
-
It will be like, oh no, what's going to happen,
-
you know, And then that's when we spiral. We spiral
-
and we lose our focus on God. So the first
-
point is focus all right, which leads me to the
-
second point, focus on what. So there were a few
-
things that the verse said, So next line, we need
-
to focus on the truth. What is fact and what
-
is fake? Right now? Right, we are living in a
-
world where hey, my truth is my truth and your
-
truth is your truth. There is no absolute truth and
-
that is very dangerous because your truth is how you
-
dictate life to be and that makes you God. But
-
then you know that you can't save yourself. So that's
-
why we need to focus on the truth. I am
-
the Way, the truth and the life. No one comes
-
to the Father accept true me. So we have to
-
focus on the truth. And Jesus says, I am the truth.
-
So when our minds are like that, right, and we
-
don't focus on the truth. What happens. We are focusing
-
on lives. We're focusing on lies and most of the time, right,
-
the things that we are going through, it is real,
-
it is real challenges. But we have to focus on
-
God and focus on Jesus and his truth. Right next line,
-
so he says here in John, Jesus said to the
-
people who believed in him, you are truly my disciples.
-
If you remain faithful to my teachings, and you will
-
know the truth, and the truth will set you free.
-
You want to be free of anxiety. You need to
-
know the truth. And the only way to know the
-
truth is to read the word. The whole Bible is
-
full of truth. The promises of God in the Bible
-
is truth, you know, And that's what we need to
-
focus on. We have to focus on the truth. So
-
that's the first point. Okay, focus on the truth. And
-
then what next line? What else do we have to
-
focus on? Focus on what is honorable, right and pure?
-
Focus on what is honorable, right and pure. So what
-
does this mean? Last time when I read this versa
-
focus on what is true, honorable, right, pure, lovely and
-
marable' all same ler. You know, it feels like it
-
feels like you read the verse everything same, but they're
-
just using a testsaurus and give you a different definition
-
just to make the worse longer. You know, sometimes we
-
read the Bible like that, but actually every word is
-
put there intentionally. So the truth is I mean, the
-
first thing is the truth is the promises of God.
-
We have the focus on the promises of God. And
-
when we focus on the promises of God, the next
-
step we need to focus our thoughts to honor God, honorable, right,
-
and pere. This is all speaking of the righteousness of God.
-
We have to focus our thoughts on this is my thought.
-
Honorable to God is my thought? Right is my thought pure?
-
Because right you can cling onto the promises and say, God,
-
your promise says this, But if your heart is not pure,
-
the God of Peace will not be with us. You know,
-
sometimes we use the promises in the Bible as like, hey, God,
-
you say this, not one but actually right, each promise it.
-
We need to participate in the promise. We have to
-
do our part. We have to put our faith and
-
trust in Him. We have to love God and love men.
-
But if we are impure or we do things out
-
of selfish desire, you know. Like, for example, God, your
-
promises say that, hey, I can do all things to
-
Christ who strengthen me. So cause my cause my competitor
-
to die, you know. Can you use the scripture like that? No, right,
-
it's cause it to rein on me on my farm
-
and to be dropt on my neighbor's farm. So the
-
price of my produce goes out. No. God, he rains
-
down on the good and the evil all the same.
-
So that's why we have to ensure that our we focus.
-
Once we know the truth, we have to make ensure
-
that it is honorable, right and pure. Okay. So when
-
it says here, it's one minute yep. So it refers
-
to things that honor God, avoiding the sinful lifestyle that
-
is hidden from you. Okay. So a lot of anxiety
-
come from actually exposing ourselves to ungodly influence. Why do
-
we get anxious because we expose ourselves to ungodly influence.
-
If we are exposed to God, we will have peace.
-
But the fact that we expose ourselves to ungodly influence
-
all we are because we are living in the imperfect
-
world and we allow the imperfect world to influence us.
-
That's when we become anxious. But we have to allow
-
God to influence us, and that's when we need to
-
folks on what is honorable, right and pure. So moving
-
to the next slide. So, I think some of y'all
-
may notice him from long ago. Search me, O, God
-
and know my heart, Test me and know my anxious thoughts.
-
Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead
-
me along the path of everlasting life. Do you know
-
that our anxious thoughts of fan God? Do you know that?
-
Because last time I'm like, hey, I'm just like that one.
-
I worry you one. You know a critical thinker. I'm
-
a critical thinker. You think it's like good, But actually,
-
these anxious thoughts of fand God. Why because he's saying, God,
-
you are not enough. You are not enough. I have
-
to take matters into my own hand. But when you
-
honor God and say that God, you are enough, you
-
are my all. I put my faith and my trust
-
in you. Those are thoughts that are honorable, right and pure.
-
So we have to take into account when we are anxious, right,
-
we have to take this into account. Right. And the
-
final point focus on what is lovely and admirable. So
-
what is this? First we focus on the truth, which
-
the promises of God. Now we focus about honoring God,
-
which is honorable, right and pure, and focus on what
-
is lovely and admirable. This is about our relationship with men.
-
Are we just honoring God but ignoring men? Because God
-
has called us to love God and love men, make
-
disciples of all nations. And sometimes say that, hey, my
-
relationship me and God enough. I don't care about anybody else.
-
You know, no man is an eye learner, right, And
-
that's why we have to be like the body. What
-
is the church? Remember I appreciate about what is the church?
-
The church is not a building. It is a congregation
-
of believers. Believers are people who are anointed. They are
-
set apart, they are called by God. So the verse
-
is efficients for next. Lie, don't use foul or abusive language.
-
Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that
-
your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them.
-
Before you speak, you have to think, and if your
-
thoughts are admirable, are lovely and admirable, you will speak
-
words of encouragement. We are called to build each other,
-
not tear each other down. And that can only happen
-
if we our thoughts. We align our thoughts. You know,
-
when you are anxious, do you treat people lovely and admirably? No, right,
-
you get very agitated. Everyone is on the edge. When
-
we are anxious, it's all about us. We don't think
-
about others. We don't think about God. We're thinking about
-
fight or flight. But when we have the God of
-
Peace with us, we are secure in him. That's when
-
we can be We can be lovely and admirable to
-
people around. And that's when people can see the difference.
-
Because when everyone is anxious and you are not, imagine,
-
that's when we are thesault in the light. You stick
-
out like a saw thumb. How come everyone is anxious,
-
everyone is worried, but you are not. It's because the
-
God of peace is with us right so coming to
-
us the end? How do we get more peace or
-
God of peace? By fixing our thoughts on him, by
-
knowing his promises, by checking to see where there is honor?
-
Are our thoughts honorable to God first and then to men?
-
And the last verse here next line, May God give
-
you more and more grace and peace as you grow
-
in your knowledge of God and Jesus a Lord. How
-
do we get more peace by growing in the knowledge
-
of God. We need to know the truth and the
-
truth will set us free. I'm also usually I check
-
myself do I google more than this? But even if
-
you google right, google what does the Word of God
-
say about this? Instead of what is? When you're googling
-
for it? What do I do? Then every Tom, Dick
-
or Harry will give you the answer. But if you
-
google what does the Word of God say about this?
-
What versus? Can I hold on too? That is how
-
you can can do it as well. Right, and then
-
we focus our thoughts on what is true, honorable, right, pure,
-
lovely and admirable, and then the God of Peace will
-
be with us. So I order to share this. I
-
was thinking whether I should share it or not, but
-
I feel I will just share it as well. Uh
-
and yeah, hopefully I'll look back one day and see
-
that this is might be a turning point or breakthrough.
-
So yesterday we went shopping. We went to Sunway Pyriuid.
-
So if we all have not checked out Sunway Pyraod
-
recently they opened out the new wing, the Oasis, so
-
it's like super happening. But Kapak is a crazy all right.
-
So we went there shopping. We were shopping. It was
-
quite long. We were there like I think sick hours.
-
We were like, it was crazy. I don't know how
-
come we ended up so long. Stuff like, yeah, so
-
because we're going for uh jazz sister's wedding, so we
-
had to go and buy stuff and all this this
-
coming next weekend, so we're going to buy stuff and
-
all this. So uh then yeah, so we're shopping and
-
stuff like that, and uh, when the checkout shoes for
-
the kids, right, So when the checkout shoes for the kids, right?
-
And then so after found a pair of shoes. Then
-
suddenly right I said, okay, I'll take this this pair
-
of shoes. Yeah. Pay. There's a leader salesperson from behind me.
-
He's like, oh oh no, I put the judge I
-
put the was like, what what happened? Like what happened?
-
You know? Then, because we're trying a few pail of shoes,
-
one pair of shoe, right, was full of water, be
-
anxious for nothing, but in everything through prayer and supplication,
-
you know. I was like, and I knew I was
-
preparing this sermon. I knew I was preparing this sermon.
-
I knew I was going to preach on this word.
-
So I was like, Okay, calm down, I need to
-
take my thoughts captive right now. What are the thoughts
-
that I'm thinking? What are the thoughts? So ah? So,
-
So what happened is kind of long story short. I
-
had to we had to buy that pair of shoes
-
because it was damaged. Okay, we had to buy that
-
pair of shoes. So I went out, and then my
-
state of mind was really off, La, It was really off.
-
But so I told you, I just need to take
-
a walk. Okay, I don't want to do anything I
-
regret or whatever. I just need to take a walk
-
and then after that I'll give you a call. You know.
-
So where I went and took a walk. Right then
-
I was think thinking about this worse Philippines for it.
-
Fix your thoughts on what is true? What is honorable, right, pure, lovely, admirable? Damn,
-
How can I do that in this situation? How? You know?
-
It's so frustrating. But now I like, hey, I have
-
to take captive. I have to take captive. Anxiety causes
-
you frustration, It causes you to really like you just
-
feel that it's my right to be anxious. It's my
-
right to be angry. It is my right to do this,
-
you know. So I was like, so, so I said, okay,
-
first point is declare the truth. Fix your thoughts on
-
what is true. So I'm like, what is true? What
-
is true in this situation? I thought, Okay, what is
-
true in this situation is my child is a son
-
of God. He God has a great plan for him.
-
He can do all things through Christ who strengthens him.
-
That is the truth. That is the truth. And then
-
all the things that I was thinking, like, oh man,
-
what am I going to do or towards him? Or
-
are dishonoring a God? Are these thoughts honoring? Am I
-
honoring you? With the actions? Am I honoring you with?
-
With am I being right? Am I being pure? Or
-
am I taking out my anger? You know? So I
-
really checked my head. It was it easy, It was tough.
-
It is crazy tough. That's how you you read these verses, right,
-
It is simple but difficult. It is simple but difficult.
-
But then I just decided, so anytime those thoughts coming in,
-
I like, God has a great plan for him. He's
-
a child of God. God can do all things to cry,
-
he would be able to do all things to Christ
-
to strengthen him. And I kept on declaring that, and
-
then slowly things calm down because my focus was no
-
longer on that pair of shoes. It was no longer
-
the money, that unnecessary money which I had to spend,
-
you know, because I was like, hey, I'm trying to
-
save money. And then suddenly this happened, you know, So
-
I'm like, it's okay, it's a pair of shoes. It's
-
a pair of shoes. Yeah, Like, thank god, it was
-
not like thousands plus shoes something. So what happened is
-
we went back home with a pair of shoes stuff
-
like that, and then just put it on to hey
-
quite nice. So I say, okay, that's your Christmas gift. No,
-
so this is real life. This is real life, whether
-
we are going through different challenges, even as I get
-
the band up, right, even as I get the band up,
-
I would just want to leave us with with this ah,
-
with this phrase which I have shared before as well.
-
Can we put the last time? We have to know
-
God and then we will know peace. If we have
-
no God, we have no peace. And the only way
-
we know God is to fix our thoughts on what
-
is true, honorable, right, pure, lovely and mirrable, and when
-
we do that, the God of Peace will be with us. Man.
