  1. You're listening to a message to go from axt church.

  2. We hope this message will light up your day.

  3. I had a provision, not from my job salary, but

  4. a provision from an investment I've made, and the return

  5. covers everything. It covers my flight, It covers again back

  6. then the flight ticket I body on that week itself.

  7. So how was my flight cows my on ground transport,

  8. It covers my love gave and bear in miner's times

  9. three Malaysian currency, it is not doing too well compared

  10. to Singaporean currency. So it's about times times back then,

  11. I think it's two points something close to three. But

  12. got provided, God provided painfully. Now why do I share

  13. with you this right? Because for this recent trip in Cybu,

  14. after I purchase my flight ticket, after I confirm my

  15. Airbnb provision came, provision really came. One of my investments

  16. decided to give a dividend and it covers eighty percent

  17. of all the expenses I incurred. Now why do I

  18. share with you this right? Testimony is will flow after obedience. Now,

  19. if you ask me it, actually you can pay off

  20. the amount. Actually I can. I have savings that will

  21. enable me to cover the expenses. But to me it

  22. is a testimony when provision comes unexpectedly, so that to

  23. me is like a second confirmation that God you ordain

  24. this strip for me, even though I want to go

  25. there and have a shot break, but you have prompted

  26. my heart to go. Therefore I I go. And many

  27. of you know that I have a work, right, I'm

  28. not a full time pastor. I am not a part

  29. time pastor as well. I'm a pastor with a secular job.

  30. I work in a UNI and by my salary savings

  31. I'm able to cover with this. But the fact that

  32. God provided through another mean tells me that he had

  33. a plan for Cebu and in Cebu. Now know I

  34. mentioned the word investment for some time, right, I want

  35. to say that I believe in responsible investment. Responsible investment

  36. means you got to know what you're investing into. There's

  37. some one number two, you got to know why are

  38. you investing. So I always gauge this. We must not

  39. be reckless in our investment, and we've got to be

  40. very careful and be very discerning, and do not let

  41. money be the driver of our decisions. Do not let

  42. money be our ultimate multi weight, because there will be

  43. days when when you get your written, God will challenge you.

  44. What are you doing with the return? Is it just

  45. for yourself? Are you using it to be a blessing

  46. for others? It's not wrong to keep the returns for yourself,

  47. but when God prompts you to give, you just got

  48. to release it. Amen. So let's show you some highlights

  49. from Cybul before I entered into the word. So you

  50. remember Dennis, all right? Still remember Dennis. Dennis came to

  51. church in November two. Why do I remember November to

  52. because was our last general election and there was there

  53. was election there. So Dnis rededicated his life to Christ

  54. November two to two, and ever since then God has

  55. done such an amazing transformation in his heart. He is

  56. one of my spiritual sons. Right, without hesitation, I say

  57. that he is one of my spiritual sons. If you

  58. asked me twenty years ago, ten years ago when I

  59. started New life, can I say spiritual son? Cannot Today

  60. my age, I can say it's one of my spiritual

  61. son because his mom's age is not so far from

  62. my age. So he hosted me. You know, he was

  63. very very honoring. I would say, Dennis, if you know doing.

  64. Dennis is very, very honoring. Every day he will pick

  65. me up, he'll bring me around, he'll pay for my meals,

  66. not that I expect, but I will also pay for

  67. his meal. You know, when you really know that people

  68. honors you, you know where the heart is, LA really

  69. you know, I was reminded him. Back in twenty eleven

  70. or twenty twelve ish, we got a student that went

  71. back to Botswana and we were just praying for venue

  72. in Botswana, and pastors actually make that effort to go

  73. to Botswana. There was but one student who actually had

  74. the capacity to host our pastors didn't really did his best,

  75. La because there was a lot of reasons why he can't,

  76. you know, right, So what I want to say is

  77. that if you really want to know what honor is right,

  78. honor cannot be given by lip service. Honor usually is

  79. given through your action, and the test of honor usually

  80. is the test of sacrifice. Honor doesn't come cheap. This

  81. church believes in honor. Now, why do I when I

  82. go up and have meals with people, why do I

  83. pay for your meal? Because I honor you? But will

  84. the same honor be accorded? It's always that question Mark.

  85. So for Denise, Dennis he's a guya because I lead

  86. Denise sounded like girl, so for Dennis, he carries such posture.

  87. Before I went to Cebu, I also google is there

  88. any house of prayer that we can go? So I

  89. found out that there is a Seabul prayer house. They

  90. just uh completed it October this year. Uh yeah, October

  91. last year. I got even more excited when I look

  92. at the testimony of the prayer house. It was an

  93. abandoned house. It was haunted. Nobody wanted to buy, nobody

  94. wanted to do anything until God moves in the heart

  95. of some believers there to convert that house into a

  96. prayer house. So when Dennis asked me, pastor, what do

  97. you look forward to in Cebu Joey Joey, I told them,

  98. let's go to the prayer house. Because Joey lovest prayer

  99. houses as well. Uh So I say, okay, let's go

  100. to the prayer house. Where I go, I really hope

  101. to sold a prayer for the land in prayer houses.

  102. So I brought them because not just denis right, the

  103. other leaders there next light so ya remember Crystal Crysselle, Right,

  104. she came back she was in lawas she went back

  105. to Cebu. Maiten is there, traveled from Kuching to Cebu.

  106. Jennifer is there, Denis is there. There's not a Joey there.

  107. Joey on your far left is from ncmc nelai Chinese

  108. Methodist Church, so she she's very honoring. Also, she used

  109. the car to drive all the girls around us, who

  110. usually we go into cars, right, and we just had

  111. a really good time. And the rest is Joanne. Joanne

  112. is the person on my left there. She founded the

  113. Prayer House. And of course you have Moses, Moses behind me,

  114. Lily and Shirley. So we went there, we pray and

  115. God moved in a prayer gathering. So my main motivation

  116. number one is to encourage our own people because they

  117. are back in their hometown. Right. Number two is to

  118. bless the land, and sadly, without me knowing, they posted

  119. these things. Right, Civil Prayer House we actually won in

  120. twenty six las you know twenty seven Yeah, yeah, we

  121. went on twenty seven. Yeah, an awesome worship session with

  122. brothers and sisters from ex church. You guys are really

  123. on fire now. I didn't ask them to post this one.

  124. Listen didly post one without my knowledge. We appreciate your

  125. love and prayers upon this land and Cibul prayer house.

  126. Pray Scott for that. The next day, actually it's that afternoon.

  127. The next day, Dennis us Dennis, I must visit this church.

  128. This church is the mass Land Methodist Church. Right, mass

  129. Land Methodist Church. And on that day only I found

  130. out faster this is actually my church law, he said, Oh,

  131. I never knew that there is to be I told

  132. you before what Yeah, I'm getting older. But anyway, so

  133. I decided to visit this church because in nineteen thirty

  134. six there is a revivalist by the name of John

  135. so Right that came from China when to Cibu preached

  136. the gospel. Due to that, Cibu, Malaysia has the most

  137. number of churches either in the country or the state

  138. among the fuchal community. There was a revival back in

  139. nineteen thirty six and upwards there's by going one street,

  140. they'll tell me, ah, faster, this is the Catholic Church,

  141. is the Methodist Church, is the Anglican Church? Or in

  142. one street? And I give you up. When I landed

  143. from the airport at night, when he brought me around

  144. you see a lot of crosses, a lot of crosses.

  145. So before I enter Sebu, I did a quick research

  146. because I knew about Johnson's story with Cebu and Stiawan.

  147. I say to myself, I need to visit the place

  148. where these revivalists have went. So I decided to go

  149. and visit. It was really a good experience with all

  150. of our church friends there. Next day we went to

  151. Sara Ki and Bintango. So from Sibu to Saraqui and

  152. Bintango it's about thirty minutes of forty minutes last right,

  153. So you remember Angue Yeah, Angue is it from Sarah Kai.

  154. So we traveled to visit Anguei. And you remember Steven

  155. Stephen is the guy in the yellow highlight shit. Steven

  156. got saved last year. He made the ultimate decision to

  157. follow Christ during our getaway, but before that he was

  158. on and off. I always tell people he's like the

  159. most on fire new comer ever because since day one

  160. visiting us, he has been very regular with us, and

  161. ultimately he decided to follow Christ. So in the planning

  162. of my trade, asked Dennis, Dennis, how far a Cibu

  163. and bintangle, Because I have a stirring to visit. Steven

  164. say oh, actually, if you want to go, we can

  165. drive one okay, So we made a pre plan. I

  166. also wanted to be an encouragement to Stephen because I

  167. want him to remember that my pastor came all the

  168. way just to meet me. It is very important, you know,

  169. because at a point when you will at a point

  170. when you doubt the church, at a point when you

  171. even doubt your own faith, please remember when you were

  172. a young Christian, someone took the effort to fly all

  173. the way to encourage you in your faith. So I

  174. say hi to the grandmother. I say hi to the

  175. grandfather as well. And you know that as saim, I say, Steven,

  176. how do you go to church? Since there's no ex

  177. church in bin Tango, Say oh, my grandfather will send

  178. me to church. The entire family is non believing. Yep,

  179. my father was send him to church. And again one

  180. straight role in bin Tango. You got four or five

  181. churches there as well. Hello Chi Saraha. I I couldn't

  182. bring it because I'm like here right in some man joke,

  183. right you want to put up a cross or so,

  184. people will make a lot of noise, but there every

  185. way you go is just churches. Yeah, that's why Rabah

  186. is very very blessed. And so this was the end coach, sorry,

  187. next yep, yeah, So these are people in uh Surrecay

  188. and bin Tango. Next. So I had a conversation with Crystal.

  189. Do you remember Crystal can Okay, So it's not easy

  190. for her in lawas because of isolation. She also has

  191. friction with housemates, different conflicts. Thiscent Netla. Right. So when

  192. we were having Roja in bin Tango, Hey, bin Tango, Roja,

  193. you'll put sweet with that door, You'll put different kind

  194. of funky things. So we by having Roja, I felt

  195. led to just sit next to Crystal and ask Crystal

  196. Ah questions and she asked questions. So she shared with

  197. me about the difficult dealer that she's going through with

  198. relationships with housemaid people and all because sometimes they I

  199. wouldn't say bully, but I would say bodyline bullying her. Right.

  200. I remember telling her that I think, Crystal, we need

  201. to learn to see people in the lens of how

  202. Christ would see people. We learn to see people in

  203. the lens of how God would see people. And that's

  204. all that I say and try to encourage her and

  205. be there for her when I came back I reflect

  206. on a trip. It's true, you know, your perspective will

  207. change when you see people in the eyes of God's love.

  208. His love for you and others will enable you to

  209. overcome your preferences and biases. To really overcome stereotype being

  210. to really overcome biases, really really need to die to

  211. ourselves and put on God's lenses. So if you're no Crystal,

  212. usually when there is a testimony, she'll send to you

  213. and no weel, she'll send to you super long paragraph.

  214. So when I before I go to the airport, she

  215. send to me a super long testimony. Say that passen,

  216. thank you so much for sharing. I caught something and

  217. my perspective has changed. My housemaid now is dealing better

  218. with me. In fact, her church a s ib Lawas,

  219. hosted a dinner. Her friends actually went for the dinner,

  220. you know, and she told me that, oh, my friends

  221. will never step foot there, this, and there, but they came.

  222. She had a friction with her landlady. The land lady

  223. doesn't want to give her back her money because she's

  224. moving to another occasion. Certainly, Lendley did texted her, okay,

  225. you can have your money back. This and that. So

  226. God in a way taught me something for us to

  227. experience testimony. Our perspective have to change. Perspective meaning how

  228. we see things has to shift, have to change. Amen.

  229. So I came back from Sarah Kay and bin Tango.

  230. Next I saw a sunset, very nice Sybil sunset. I

  231. stayed in a high rise building. This is actually a

  232. lens effect, right, So when I put it in my camera,

  233. I saw a cross. Actually I remember the day before

  234. we prayed for Sybil, and to be able to see

  235. this glory in re minded me that God has a

  236. plan for Sebul. I really believe it with all my heart.

  237. In fact, I believe there's going to be a very

  238. good revival happening in Cebul. A lot of focus was

  239. on Ching, a lot of focuses Mary, a lot of

  240. focusy in Bintulu. Very good. But I believe God will

  241. also not miss Sebul. Right, So on Sunday, there's so

  242. many churches to go to, so many I got Danny's

  243. church to go to. I got here and there, so

  244. I told every one of them I'm led to go

  245. to this church. It's called b e m Hosanna. Praised church.

  246. All right. I got to know about this church from

  247. different ching. I just felt that my spirit is leading

  248. me there and only to find out that it was

  249. actually Gabriel Dayste Church. Gabriel is one of our leaders

  250. in U s Money, so I didn't know he was

  251. there before I flew off. It was on Christmas Day

  252. that I found out that he was there. So that

  253. was there is Gabriel's pastor pastor he which I paster

  254. he So we were. Then we worshipped and the pastor

  255. was very welcoming, very warmed. Uh. She almost fell off

  256. her chair when I started speaking to her in man

  257. dream which wait the hahah. So we connected and we spoke.

  258. I was just sharing to her also about Pastor's dream

  259. about dream Malaysia revol. I told her that many many

  260. years ago we had ravel Sebu. How about that we

  261. are revel we have Saraka and Sebu. And I was

  262. just sharing with her what we do. The jaw almost dropped,

  263. you know, when she found out that Gabriel actually took

  264. one hour just to go to church on every weekend.

  265. Because you must understand her people there one our way,

  266. it's very far, you know, you can go to Sabbah.

  267. Really it's very far. And we were there, we were

  268. encouraging each other. So before we left, she asked whether

  269. we can pray for the church. So I decided to say, okay,

  270. since Pasta you are hosting us, you requests for prayer,

  271. we pray like So I prayed said very simple prayer,

  272. release a very simple word to her church and also

  273. to her let me laugh. So when I met up

  274. with Gabriel later on, then I found out that Gabriel

  275. asked me, past how did you know that this this

  276. this happened in the church. I say, I didn't know.

  277. I just as a spirit led. Yeah, that confirms the

  278. word that the church needed. I won't say to you

  279. because it's recorded, but it's exactly the word that they need.

  280. It was in that afternoon itself. I thought Dennis, I say, Dennis,

  281. we've got to go back there. The church is very unique.

  282. You know, next to the church is actually a semmetery.

  283. Already the plot of land that you got a church,

  284. then you got a cemetery. Then for the down the

  285. road you got three uh three, three institutions of learning.

  286. You got a Woodlands private school which is from kindergarten

  287. to secondary. That's where Gabriel studies. You got college like

  288. La type and you got UTS, which is University Technologia

  289. in Cibu. Three campuses there. I thought, that is Dennis.

  290. Let's go pray. So we entered a prayer drive in

  291. the college, their prayer drive in Woodlands. Then we step

  292. foot into UTS and we show a set of prayer.

  293. I'm really really excited about Sibu. I'm really really excited

  294. because I know the spirit of God is moving there right.

  295. So next time and you go Sibu, please go to

  296. Sibul Prayer House. Don't be afraid of the ghosts. They

  297. all have left. The holy ghosts have taken over a.

  298. Please go and bless the leno in any landing in

  299. I told the pastor. I said that we are praying

  300. for Strawa and you know passes straight away. Asked Denise,

  301. asked Gabriel, Ah, when are you coming back to Sarawak?

  302. When are you coming back to Cybul. They all have

  303. their answers are right. Some will say that, oh, I'm

  304. really working in care. I find out that the churches

  305. then need a love encouragement. So when you're there, pray

  306. for them. So I told the pastor that, I say, Pastor,

  307. we are praying for East Malaysia, praying for Strawa. In fact,

  308. that's kind of is going to do something in Bintulu

  309. very soon as well. And I told the pastor is

  310. that we as a church, our goal is to raise disciples.

  311. So that I don't share it like Crystal, I say,

  312. you know, Pasta, like Crystal, she is in Nawas right

  313. while the students span two and three years here with us,

  314. we will do our part to disciple them and when

  315. God eventually will to call them out. God eventually, let's

  316. say it leads them back to Sibula, lead them back

  317. to Srawa. We know we have done our part to

  318. contribute to bless Sarahwa. And I think she's touched by then.

  319. All right, So there was some of my key highlights.

  320. I came back really rested. I came back really really refreshed.

  321. It's a holiday for me. But when God was really

  322. in the picture throughout me, it's a perfect holiday. God

  323. can show up in your holiday. You gotta make room

  324. for him. So that was Sibu. So it's a new year.

  325. I believe God has a word for all of you

  326. this year. I believe the word is overcome. Point foward

  327. will tell you that this year many of us will

  328. need to come front and overcome long standing issues in

  329. our lives, deep rooted, unresolved matters that have made us

  330. comfortable yet hinder the growth of our faith. So I

  331. got this when I was in c Woo. So because

  332. I know I'm sharing Sunday, It's like, God, can you

  333. give me a message for Sunday? What should I share?

  334. And the word overcome or overcame? Kim. See, there are

  335. two things that we need to overcome in our life, right.

  336. The first one is Satan, second is self. Self is

  337. the most hardest to overcome. Satan is quite easy to

  338. overcome because Jesus has overcame him, and Jesus will continue

  339. a triumph over Satan. But the most difficult thing to

  340. overcome is usually self. It's usually self. Right, So point

  341. five will say, well, Satan is our adversary. We can

  342. take courage in knowing that Jesus has already triumphed over

  343. him and will continue to fulfill prophecies in the Book

  344. of Revelation. The battle still rages on. You know, the

  345. battle is not it's not end yet, right, So why

  346. sometimes you feel certain things in your life. Because Satan

  347. is at work right, he'll come to still kill and destroy.

  348. But Jesus has came to give us life and life

  349. more abundantly. So Genesis three fifteen. Next, like all the

  350. wisits are there, he says, and I will put enmity

  351. between you and the woman, and between your seed and

  352. the seed. He shall bruise your heat, and you shall

  353. bruise his heal. So, when God confronted the serpent, God

  354. already had a redemption plan for mankind. God already said

  355. it in motion that the enemy will be defeated by Jesus,

  356. that Jesus will stab with bruce the head of Satan,

  357. and Satan will be defeated. Look ten eighteen to nineteen.

  358. And he said to them, Jesus said to them, I

  359. saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. Behold, I give

  360. you authority to trample on serpents and scorpions and over

  361. all the power of the enemy. And nothing shall by

  362. any means hurt you. Jesus have already given you the

  363. power to overaco him the enemy. You gotta walk in

  364. your authority Collosians two fifteen. Having these armed principalities and powers.

  365. He make a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them.

  366. In it one John three eight, he who sins is

  367. of the devil, For the devil has seen from the

  368. beginning for day's purpose, the Son of God was manifested

  369. that he might destroy the works of the devil. Revelations

  370. twelve ten to eleven. Then I heard a loud voice

  371. saying in heaven now salvation and strength and the kingdom

  372. of our God and the power of his Christ has come.

  373. For the accuser of our Bedron, who accused them before

  374. our God day and night, has been cast down. And

  375. they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and

  376. by the word of the testimony. And they did not

  377. love their lives to the death. Last one Revelation twenty ten.

  378. The devil who deceived them was cast into the lake

  379. of fire and bringstone where the beasts beast mean the

  380. Antichrist and the false prophet Ah. And they will be

  381. tormented day and night forever and ever. There are just

  382. some scriptures to let you know that in as much

  383. as we have an enemy, we have an adversary. As

  384. long as we abide in Jesus, we leverage on his victory.

  385. Point six. When Satan reminds you of your past, what

  386. should you do? You remind him of his future, because

  387. Revelation twenty ten describes his future that he will be

  388. cast into the lake of fire and bringstone, and he

  389. will be tormented day and night, forever and ever. So

  390. point seven, Jesus has already overcome Satan. Our role is

  391. to abide in him and declare his victory by exercising

  392. the authority he has given to us. The enemy doesn't

  393. have authority over your life. He doesn't. Sometimes we give

  394. ETN too much credit. So to me, I'm not speaking

  395. out of pride. I'm just speaking out of what I

  396. read from the Word that it's easy to overcome Satan

  397. because Jesus has overcame him. Period. The most hardest thing

  398. to overcome is actually self, which is our flesh. I

  399. was asked this question during a supper from one of

  400. our partners. This was after Taylor's chapel You're all Right.

  401. Last year, together with ex campus, we planted a midweek

  402. service in Taylor's praise Scotler that people are coming, and

  403. recently one brother was water baptized. He comes from a

  404. nation that the Gospel is restricted but to be able

  405. to see him following Christ wholeheartedly and going through water

  406. baptism is amazing. So on supper, this person asked me

  407. what's answer? What is your most difficult challenge? And after

  408. being ministry for so long, what is your most difficult challenge?

  409. Need to eat far that health sciences and warm teat

  410. far that health science is. What is your most biggest challenge?

  411. What can I young? I tell her? I told her

  412. what juic City. The biggest challenge is me myself because

  413. sometimes I need to deal with my own unbelief. I

  414. need to deal with uninspiredness. I need to deal with

  415. things that I haven't really let go. The biggest challenge

  416. to me itself because they'll be doubt. But I can

  417. honestly tell you what kept me alive these years. It's

  418. three things. Relationship with God, God's given purpose over my life,

  419. and His Church, which speaks about discipleship. You see, this

  420. year we've got to really confront things that you know

  421. is hindering you. You got really asked God to uproot

  422. certain deep roots that are not healthy for you. So

  423. why I start off with Satan is this because the

  424. more years I walk in ministry, the more I realize

  425. it's so easy to blame Satan for poor decisions that

  426. we make, and then we give glory to Satan, to

  427. say that, oh, because it's the enemy. I am like that.

  428. But at the other day, it's a matter of taking

  429. personal responsibility. It's not rocket science. It's not rocket science.

  430. You know. I've counseled people where over the years they

  431. go through the same challenge. And I've also seen people

  432. where they will go from church to church, and every

  433. new church they go to, they'll share to the pastor

  434. the same problem. Okay, Oh I have problem with drinking.

  435. Right then the pastor tell you, okay, I give up

  436. your drinking, since when you get drunk you will hit

  437. your wife, you will say things days that, Oh Pastor,

  438. I don't agree with you. You go to the church there,

  439. you go to the another church. The passa tell you

  440. the same thing. No, pasta is demonic. You don't understand.

  441. These demons are causing me to drink. Honestly, overcome yourself,

  442. have more self control, seek help. No pass I have

  443. a problem with loss. The demon of loss is influencing me. Hey,

  444. how about just stop watching photography.

  445. El.

  446. Pastor, A demon is attacking my studies. Huh really, Yeah,

  447. every time I want to study, I can't concentrate. Hey,

  448. how about giving up your mobile? Legends are so we

  449. give Satan too much credit for things that we know.

  450. We are weak in our own flesh. This year, deal

  451. with your flesh now. Someone say, you know, the year

  452. can be new, but if the attitude is the same,

  453. it will just be like another year. Deliverance is important

  454. as a start, and it is a consistent discipline of

  455. dying to self that keeps us in victory. Yeah, same people,

  456. you don't going faster or pasta leader to leader faster.

  457. Paid for my deliverance, I have this. Pray, pray, pray, Okay,

  458. then come here again, pray for my deliverance. Pray for

  459. my delierance. How many time you want to get delivered?

  460. How about start leaving a lifestyle of discipline. Deliverance should

  461. not be seen as a substitute for poor discipline. We're

  462. gonna learn to crucify the flesh Galatians two twenty. I

  463. have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I

  464. who live, but Christ lives in me, and the life

  465. which I now live in the flesh. I live by

  466. faith in the Son of God, who loved me and

  467. gave himself for me. If you're a Bible believing Christian,

  468. and if you are a practicing Christian, you will know

  469. you are not alone. You will know that you identify

  470. with the life of Christ. You will know that the

  471. Holy Spirit leaves in you. Remember three things I say

  472. that keeps me relationship with God, God's given purpose, and

  473. his Church. I have been crucified with Christ. Means I

  474. put my flesh to death whatever desired that is ungodly.

  475. While we desired that is in contrary to His word,

  476. we have to put it to death. And the new

  477. life that Jesus has given to you, you can leave

  478. it for His glory. You live by faith in the

  479. Son of God. One John two fifteen to seventeen. Do

  480. not love the world or the things in the world.

  481. Sometimes as Christians we struggle in this. We love the

  482. world more than we love Christ. Do not love the

  483. world or the things in the world. If anyone loves

  484. the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

  485. For all that is in the world, the last of

  486. the flesh, the last of the eyes, and the pride

  487. of life, it is not of the Father, but it

  488. is of the world, and the world is passing away

  489. and the loss of it. But he who does the

  490. will of God abides forever. So the treatings here the

  491. last of the flesh, the last of the eyes, the

  492. pride of life that we need to deal with this

  493. yet Verse one is the last of the flesh. This

  494. basically refers to sinful cravings, desires that caters to our

  495. physical and sensual nature. Now, I'll be the first one

  496. to say that I'm not perfect. Have I seen before?

  497. Of course? Have I has my heart grown cold before?

  498. Of course? Have I done things that disappoint God? I have?

  499. But you think about it. Right the time when you

  500. are away from God, it was also a time when

  501. your heart has grown numb to the voice of God

  502. because something else have taken over. It's usually the last

  503. of the flesh. Paul encourage us to walk with the spirit.

  504. But if you would walk with a flesh, we are

  505. hating to destruction. And usually if you are being led

  506. by the flesh, we will also be numb towards the

  507. conviction of sin. The lions of the eyes. This year,

  508. we really need to get our eyes really focus on Jesus,

  509. don't focus on other things. Really this year, say put

  510. an end to compare reasons. Many of us are not

  511. happy because we have been comparing either with ourself and

  512. others or others with others. Then we talk about others.

  513. End to compare reason. Ask God to frame how you

  514. see things. The pride of life. Pride must die basically

  515. means dying to self zero point ten second last point.

  516. Overcome excuses that hinder growing your faith. We're gonna learn

  517. to overcome excuses. Really, God loves you so much that

  518. he has a plan for you. God loves you so

  519. much that he wants you to be better. He wants

  520. me to be better. Be route in a community of believers,

  521. and actively serve your community. Actually, there's this eleventh four

  522. He who observed the wind will not sow, and he

  523. who regards the clouds will not reap. So basically, right,

  524. if you're a farmer, you're supposed to be out in

  525. the field sowing. You're supposed to be out in the

  526. field working. You know. Post COVID, what I've realized is

  527. there are more and more instances where people give good

  528. reasons that can be seen as excuse, and as a result,

  529. it stopped them from growing their faith. Because as a farmer,

  530. when you see the wind blow, when you see the

  531. clouds gathering, it's a good reason not to go out.

  532. I think this year we really need to overcome preferences

  533. that we have for ourselves and have a bigger heart

  534. to ask God what is the priority you should be

  535. focusing on, because sometimes his priority may not meet your

  536. personal preference. So if God's parity for you is to

  537. start doing certain things that he has asked you to do,

  538. I think you should start looking into it. James one

  539. twenty two. Be doers of the word and not hearers,

  540. only deceiving yourself. You know, we live in an era

  541. where people are more in tuned to messages, but doesn't

  542. mean they are doing what the messages encouraging them to do.

  543. Feel good messages doesn't change lives. It may entertain you

  544. for a while, it may make you feel good. Only

  545. the Word of God changed your life. And the Word

  546. of God can only take effect in your heart when

  547. you start applying it. With the application, the word of

  548. God is going to be like the seed at the wayside,

  549. the seed at the stony ground. We want the word

  550. of God to take effect when our heart is like

  551. the soft ground that's when we read. That's when we

  552. read so last point point eleven. Discipleship keeps us in

  553. check and on track. Pass said this year our focus

  554. is disciples first. Discipleship can't share with you a revelation

  555. I had in Cebu. It's this la now after passing

  556. here for so long, fourteen years, I can't really put

  557. myself in the shoe of Christians who come from other towns,

  558. other towns, right, because I always feel that how come

  559. basic things like this, Let's say, for example, coming to church?

  560. How come is it a struggle coming on time? Why

  561. is it a struggle? I couldn't understand until I went

  562. to Cebu. Then my eyes get opened, Okay, And it's

  563. a depending how you see it. So what I'm trying

  564. to say is that what is normal for me may

  565. seem radical for others. Okay. Because when I was driving

  566. with dan Is, we will also I will usually call

  567. it discipleship drive. I mean, someone drive and we disciple.

  568. There's the two hours and he'll ask questions, right, and

  569. he asked, PA, how can we connect with the younger

  570. pool of new students who are coming. They don't seem

  571. to be interested in faith, They don't seem to be

  572. interested in God. They don't seem to be interested in this,

  573. and it's very hard to get them moving. I remember

  574. saying that you know these are probably your third, your second, third,

  575. or fourth generation Christians. LA Basically they grew up in

  576. Christian family. Usually first generation, they are quite one thing.

  577. To grow their faith, second, third, fourth, it takes a

  578. lot of effort because of familiarity. So I always find

  579. myself when someone tells me that come from this place,

  580. I've been in church, this and that. Then the next

  581. few weeks they go me seeing these that I couldn't relate.

  582. Then I realized this powerful statement. Growing up in church

  583. doesn't mean you're growing up in Christ. You got to

  584. let that sink in because someone can say or back home,

  585. I follow my parents ten or years to church. Yeah,

  586. but are you growing up in Christ? Or have you

  587. grown up in Christ? It's very very important, very important.

  588. You know, Christ is the reason why we live. Christ

  589. is the reason why we do what we do. That

  590. gives meaning, that gives purpose. This year, when you overcome

  591. your flesh, you will begin to see what Christ has

  592. in store for you. So back to discipleship. This year

  593. is discipleship even discipleship. I you know why I say

  594. it's a revelation to me because this is my first church.

  595. I was saved here, I grew up here. Whatever pastor

  596. taught us, I take it, I ran with it. I

  597. didn't know it was radical for other people, like one

  598. hour to church, jaw drop ha, come early to pray? Yeah,

  599. discipleship you mean you you fly all the way to

  600. Cibu just to meet with your people and disciple them.

  601. Couldn't find a jaw already? Mean to me, I thought

  602. this was normal. When you know, whatever God tells us

  603. to do, we just do lah what To other people,

  604. it's like it's radical. So what keeps me going is

  605. relationship with God. It's really it's time for us to

  606. reflect and review back where are we with God and

  607. allow him to bring us back to the place where

  608. He intends us to be. That's why discipleship matters. I

  609. got to allow myself to be having someone to speak

  610. over my life. Maybe this year for some of us,

  611. we've got to allow that voice to come into our

  612. life so that we're kept in check and we are

  613. kept on track. And discipleship does that for you. It

  614. does all right, So we're gonna end by closing in prayer.

  615. So that's one thing you can take away from this message.

  616. I know there are eleven points there. It's basically this

  617. this year, overcome your flesh, overcome your personal preferences that

  618. have hindered you from growing in God. So the new year,

  619. new beginning. God has a plan for you. With his grace,

  620. you will be able to overcome. Amen. What do we

  621. stand as we close in prayer? Thank you Jesus for

  622. your word. Thank you for your spirit in this place.

  623. Thank you for your work not just in this church,

  624. but right now, God Lord in our hearts. Thank you,

  625. Holy Spirit. I know that you're here. I hear your heart. Lord,

  626. I hear your heart. You're drawing us to you. Thank

  627. you for today where we are able to hear from you.

  628. We thank you and you are spoken to us. Thank

  629. you for revealing to us God, things that we need

  630. to deal with. Sometimes people may not know the pain

  631. that we have been going through, the suffering that we

  632. have gone through, or even our struggle, O God, But

  633. you know, you know, you know, you know, O God,

  634. and you're always the good Father who is ready to

  635. restore us, heal us. You're always ready to help us

  636. to break through in areas where we need to break through. Today,

  637. God asks that you will help us. Our flesh is weak,

  638. O God, we still have our sinful nature. That's why

  639. we need you. That's why we call Jesus our lord

  640. and our savior. Pray that this year, O God, Lord,

  641. you will teach us to crucify our flesh, that we

  642. will learn to deny ourselves pick up our cross to

  643. follow you, O God Lord. That's a price to be

  644. paid for those who wants to follow Jesus. And we

  645. say that God, we are ready to pay this price.

  646. It's not about restland. Maybe it's almost We are still

  647. struggling God with our past. No one is righteous before

  648. you were God, including myself. No one is perfect before you.

  649. Maybe we have done mistakes in our past. Maybe past year,

  650. we have done many sorrowful things God, that have broken

  651. your heart. The Lord, your words says, when we are

  652. sincerely repentant of our sin and turn to you wholeheartedly,

  653. you will restore us. You will forgive us of God,

  654. and that God will past sins. Our past wrongdoings is cowed.

  655. By the blood of Jesus. So why you sent Jesus

  656. to die for us? It's blood washes thoroughly clean, clad

  657. in the righteousness of Jesus. Claude in a robe of righteousness.

  658. Thank you. You know want to pray for us if

  659. you're saying that, pastor this year, I want to learn

  660. to overcome my flesh. Just raise both your hands. I'm

  661. going to ask that Holy Spirit help you. Holy Spirit.

  662. These are hands that are responding to you. And as

  663. I commit them to you, a God.

  664. Sends a fresh stut.

  665. A sends a fresh beginning, sends fresh wind coming over

  666. your life.

  667. So the new beginning. So God Lord, I ask for

  668. grace as for your strength. We are weak, but you strong.

  669. Your grace is sufficient.

  670. For us, and your.

  671. Strength is made perfect in our weakness. I PRAI this

  672. year everyone in kneelie who experience more of your strength,

  673. more of your presence, more of your power. When we

  674. deny ourself, we will see the glory of God over

  675. our life, over our family. In the Mighty name of Jesus.

  676. By uproot every seed that the enemy have planted in

  677. your hearts, every seed of remorse, every seed of guilt,

  678. every seed of condemnation.

  679. Uprooted in the Mighty name of Jesus.

  680. We hope you've been blessed by this message. For more
