  1. You're listening to a message to go from acts church.

  2. We hope this message will light up your day.

  3. Why, disciples, first come, let's go into the world, and

  4. let's get straight into a word metthew twenty nine, verse

  5. nineteen to twenty. Okay. He says, here, go therefore and

  6. make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the

  7. name of the Father, the Son of the Holy Spirit,

  8. teaching them to observe all things that have commanded you.

  9. And lo, I'm with you always even to the end

  10. of the age. Okay. And this is something that Jesus

  11. gave us his last word. How many of you know

  12. that someone's last word is very important. No, imagine now

  13. you've got some rich uncle, right, you know, Victor got

  14. rich uncle. And then the uncle is dying on the

  15. death bed, and then the uncle says, Victor, the combination

  16. though my say for the will is and then he

  17. dies off. It's important right to know that you know

  18. just who knows what he will have for us. And

  19. this is Jesus last commanment to us, So we know

  20. it's important. And in xs we we used to have

  21. were saying, you know, Christ last commandment is our first priority.

  22. And of course the translation of that missions lie you know,

  23. or you go there in all the nations, you know,

  24. do you know that actually making disciples is not so complicated?

  25. You know, it's not like you must go and do

  26. missions there only you're making disciples. Do you know that

  27. making disciples is like everyday thing? You know that making

  28. disciples is a way boring thing. Jesus made disciples. How

  29. they eat with him? You know, stay together? M can't

  30. together stay with him? Is it boring or no? You

  31. see all the bad habits right for those they are

  32. married and staying together. You'll know I'm talking about for

  33. those that got housemates. You know, all the bad habits.

  34. You know, you cannot the hand. But that's discipleship actually

  35. in the way Jesus did it. Of course, you guys

  36. don't do it here. You know, you come church, everybody

  37. looks good, you go back home, right then you come

  38. next week and everybody sill, looks good. Know what to say,

  39. But discipleship is something we want to do, okay, and

  40. why okay? Let me let me start with some foundational stuff,

  41. are you guys? Okay? Let me start with some foundational stuff. Right? First,

  42. we have to understand and you you, you you got

  43. to understand this from the perspective of a believer. And

  44. if you are a believer, here I pray and I

  45. hope that you have the same perspective, because if you

  46. have a different perspective, then I will ask you what

  47. you believe in? Okay. So the first thought is, you know,

  48. God created man, right, that's what I believe in. That's

  49. what I believe in. Pass When you believe in that, right,

  50. I know that the world would say otherwise, but I

  51. will present this to you. I believe that God created

  52. man out of the dust of the earth. Other people

  53. believe that men came from the evolution of monkeys. We

  54. showing your own belief up to you. Okay, your decide.

  55. I prefer my version that's from the Bible. You guys

  56. didn't get that joke. It's fine, SI contemplating on that.

  57. So God created man, and of course man saying lah right.

  58. You know that man's saying right for those of you

  59. who are you know, like pass passus Stephen right here,

  60. he's so holy fast can you stand up? He looks

  61. so good? Right? Right, length, tie and everything perfect? Pass seven?

  62. Huh no, but aren't you perfect? The hair hairstyles are perfect,

  63. you wisha? Yeah, I haven't say yeah, sorry, I just

  64. I'm just missing him this morning. I guess if you've

  65. been on this earth long enough, you know that humans

  66. are not PERFECTA right, let's talk about some true right, right,

  67. people are not perfect. I'm not perfect. I make mistakes

  68. all the time. You know. Just the other day I

  69. got angry when a family member called me and you know,

  70. irritated me, and then my wife had to say, dear,

  71. can you please be kinder to this time? Remember, I'm like, okay, right,

  72. so I'm not perfect. We are not perfect. Unfortunately, men

  73. sin right and we fell right. We can blame Adam

  74. and Eve for all we care, but we are not

  75. perfect as well. We make mistakes, right, sometimes most times unintentionally,

  76. I hope not intentionally. And I hope you don't be

  77. e intentionally, lah, I hope you're not lack okay, but

  78. sometimes we are unintentionally evil, right, Get a little bit

  79. too angry when we spang our kids, you know, get

  80. a little bit too irritated when we're arguing with our spouse,

  81. get a little bit too frustrated when the person cut

  82. you on the road. Well, none of you are so

  83. everybody here perfect or now you're all awesome drivers on

  84. the road. No right, no right, We're not perfect, right,

  85. but you know we have to be sinless to be

  86. connected to God because God is sinless. We are sinful, right,

  87. how good hearted? You are? Right? You are not perfect? Right?

  88. But God is perfect. That's what the Bible says. God

  89. is perfect, and you know he has a redemption plan

  90. for us. That's the whole idea. And that's why we

  91. have church. That's why we're here, that's why we worship,

  92. that's why we we say we're Christians, that's why we

  93. believe in what we believe because we believe in God's

  94. redemption plan for us. If you're here and you're not

  95. believing yet, or you're not fully convinced, well let me

  96. give you the good news. The good news is that

  97. we're not perfect, but God has a redemption plan for us.

  98. And God's strategy is true. The life of this guy

  99. called Jesus, that's his strategy because he didn't just lay

  100. out a plan. You know, he didn't just lay out

  101. a get out of jail free card for us. He

  102. showed us a way to live through his son Jesus.

  103. Christ are you guys catching the foundational stuff. Some of

  104. you are looking at me and so this is the

  105. first time you're hearing things like this. Hey, if you're

  106. a Christian for many long, I hope you know this.

  107. You know, because he's super foundational. If you don't know this,

  108. I'm pleased at least I'm telling it to you now,

  109. say you know what you believe in? Right? Hello? Are

  110. you guys? Okay? Not well? Just now this morning in

  111. PJ we're quiet? Here is so read quiet? Why do

  112. I have the sleepy look? You know what is the plan? Well,

  113. it's salvation through the life of Christ. Salvation to save

  114. us from our sins, not just through his life, but

  115. tree his death and thankfully resurrection. And the goal of

  116. it is to re establish a relationship with God, which

  117. is what we now practice. When we can pray to God.

  118. We are having to sacrifice lambs and goads and consecrate ourselves. So,

  119. my fanna, all those things those days they have to

  120. do it. You read Exodus. We're doing a study on

  121. Exodus in our office. Now. Wow, so complicated, so much

  122. to do. Now, we're so busy. Imagine last time you

  123. know that every day they had to sacrifice two lambs

  124. in the time. Every day our friends every day have

  125. to sacrifice two lambs, and it's quite gory one okay,

  126. but there's a goal. There's a redemption plan for us.

  127. That's why we do what we do. That's why we

  128. believe what we believe. If Jesus didn't come on this earth,

  129. is he's not real and all these different things, we

  130. wouldn't be here. Alah, we'll be wasting our time, right

  131. Cora or not? We will? Can you recite John three sixteen?

  132. Don't show us John three sixteen Come for God's soul,

  133. love the world. Well, then next will give yourselves a

  134. hand in PJ Right. When I asked them this question,

  135. I only three for love can say the rest is

  136. super quiet, And I say, guys, please the scripture so

  137. you don't know and don't remember, please remember, don't just

  138. remember the scripture John three sixteen for God soul of

  139. the world. That said, no, please remember the scripture. It

  140. is foundational stuff if you are believer for so long,

  141. and please remember the scripture? Can on not please remember? Okay?

  142. Because it's important. And the last commission and instruction that

  143. Christ gave to his disciples was go therefore and make disciples?

  144. Pas seven? How to make disciples?

  145. Are?

  146. Is there a discipleship program? Do we get everybody to

  147. dress up? Where the pin you know, comb the hell

  148. like you comb right where the tech? Then that's the

  149. siber Ship? Is that it is?

  150. That?

  151. It is that? Oh? No, no, must know how to

  152. say Hallelujah, Amen, praise the Lord. Right, I'll pray for you.

  153. Is that the zibership? Is it just coming on a Sunday?

  154. Is that zerber Ship? For those of you who understand,

  155. you know that it's not it? Right? What is the

  156. cyber ship? Can we study together? Hey guys, why am

  157. I talking about this this year? Our team is the

  158. serber Ship? You know what does that mean? How do

  159. we do? You know that a team is not just okay,

  160. it's a team. And then that's it, you know, we

  161. all we all talk about some things up in the

  162. air and then we were happy. No, no, no, guys.

  163. The team is for us to practice. And if you

  164. are here in this church and if you say this

  165. is my home, always say I'm at least committed to

  166. this place, then I will say I will encourage you.

  167. Can you flow with it? Can you flow with wherever?

  168. You are deciding to roote down unless you're saying no,

  169. I'm just here visiting only. Then whatever message today, it

  170. doesn't apply to you. You want to know how funny

  171. that sounds. Actually, it applies because it's from the Bible. No,

  172. and I My argument is the moment you believe in God,

  173. this applies to you. Right. So what is the definition

  174. of discipleship? Right, I'm not going to pronounce it, but

  175. this is drawn from Matthew twenty six. Okay, because the

  176. word disciple in Greek means to be a disciple of one,

  177. to follow his precepts and instructions, to teach and instruct Okay,

  178. to become a pupil, right and role as a scholar, wow, scholar,

  179. Right to be disciples and instructors. And then the other word

  180. right one is mate teo. Another one is I'm not

  181. gonna pronounce it because my Chinese tongue might mispronounce it.

  182. It says a learner, a pupil, a disciple, one who

  183. follows one's teaching. So when we become believers in Christ

  184. means we follow his teaching. Correct means whatever that Jesus

  185. say we should follow. Right, Yeah, I see more people

  186. nodding their heads, right, yeah, we should.

  187. So.

  188. Then the question is are we following his ching? Do

  189. we even know what is his teaching? Do we even

  190. know how we should follow Christ? This all good question.

  191. You guys catching something this morning? I hope you are not.

  192. I hope you are. Are we following Christ? What is

  193. the heart of discipleship? This is very simple. The heart

  194. of discipleship is this, to be like Jesus, right, coring

  195. not how many of you want to be more like Christ?

  196. And when I say more like Christ, I'm not saying

  197. grow up, be it, go for you know something us

  198. go compentry it you started it. I'm going to go

  199. and learn compentry. Right, to be like Christ, to do

  200. like Christ, to do like Jesus, to do more like Christ.

  201. The means respond to people like Jesus would respond to people.

  202. I know when I'm saying this all West strategy la.

  203. So I also not like Jesus. That's I have to learn.

  204. I have to learn to respond. I have to ask

  205. myself when I say the wrong thing or you know,

  206. do the wrong thing, well, not wrong thing, I do

  207. a certain thing, I have to ask would Christ do that?

  208. And last time, I think John will remember this and

  209. show how oh we are Last time we were young

  210. people remember the band w W JD. What would Jesus do? Yeah,

  211. that's the thing we asked to remind us when we

  212. look at the bet. What were Jesus in this situation? Now?

  213. You know, if Jesus come back home from church cam

  214. and so on fire, what will he do to his parents?

  215. Will he condemn the parents? Or will he do the housework?

  216. Without being asked? Oh, what would Jesus do? Do you know?

  217. What would he do? And the heart of disciplership is

  218. to make more like the same, not just be like him,

  219. not just do like him, but to encourage others to

  220. also be like him. This is not just this, not

  221. only for the pastors, passastive one, I know it. I

  222. just number one enough. I think. The last I check

  223. this way is for everybody. Go there for make disciples

  224. of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father,

  225. the Son, the Holy spit, teaching them to obs up

  226. all things. And I've commanded you let's talk a little

  227. bit about baptism. Why why baptism? Have you thought about

  228. it before? How many of you here are baptized? City?

  229. Raise up behind baptized. Okay, so you're not yet not sure? Okay,

  230. near I okay, let me, let let me ask you. Okay,

  231. why baptism? Of course I can give a whole teaching

  232. and I'm sure Passis Steven is very good. It is,

  233. you know, Anglican Church background, a whole you know, teaching

  234. on baptism and the significance of baptism and all these

  235. different things. Okay, can I give you my simple understanding

  236. of baptism. Law, I do it because Jesus did it.

  237. You guys, totally not getting me at all. You know,

  238. some things in our favor. You just got to do

  239. it just because it's in the world. La. Why do

  240. we need proof? Do you know that even Jesus himself

  241. was baptized? Do you know that it didn't make sense

  242. or Jesus will be baptized knowing what we know now.

  243. And John the Baptist his name the Baptist, he have

  244. to baptize people because he's John the Baptiste, that's what

  245. the Bible calls him. That's his job. If he doesn't

  246. do it, Jesus came. He he came and baptized people

  247. for the preparation of the coming of the son of Man. No,

  248. that's what John did know. And when Jesus imagine the

  249. shock when Jesus appeared in front of him and said, hey, John,

  250. you need to baptize me, and he goes hold on.

  251. It's kind of like this. It's like past the Kenneff

  252. coming to Steven and asking Steven to baptize past the Kennef. Okay,

  253. let me go something further. It's like the pope used,

  254. the pope coming to Josiah and saying, Josiah place. But

  255. you'll be like, hey, hello, sounds funny, right, But do

  256. you know why Jesus did it to show the way,

  257. because he knows a humans are. If we can find

  258. a way out, we'll find a way out. Jesus where

  259. God do baptism he didn't want. Now we can all

  260. say it. Now we know Jesus, John baptized Jesus. John

  261. tried to stop Jesus, and we also know true scripture

  262. what happened after that. The heavens open. God said it

  263. is my son. Sometimes something's right in our faith. We

  264. just need to do it. Friends, Yes, we can go

  265. and study. Go, go, go and study the significance of baptism.

  266. You know when you go into It's like Christ, you

  267. no baptism, the significance of baptism when you go down

  268. into the watertop baptism. That's why you believe in food emergent.

  269. Why because you're buried in your old self and you

  270. come up, you come up a new creation. It's a simple. Friends.

  271. Do you know that even non believers know that it's

  272. important baptism Because when we go and do ministry in

  273. the rural places, I still remember this conversation we had.

  274. You know, the lady folk want to still do certain

  275. things like gossip and gamble. So when we talk to

  276. them about and they come to chi and when they

  277. talk to them about baptism, they no, no, no, no

  278. no no for me, my husband will do it. I

  279. don't want because they know the moment the baptist is

  280. stop doing all these things. Because once you follow christis

  281. there's no turning back. You know how many of us

  282. here are following Christ with the exit door already already open.

  283. The moment he gets a bit uncomfortable or not according

  284. to my plan, I stay away, okay, Jesus, that's it.

  285. Are we living like that? And then we come to

  286. this place where we ask God I want you bless this, this, this, this, this,

  287. this is everything, bless best, blessed, but not waiting for

  288. to follow him. Friends, are you guys? Okay? Someone told

  289. me and it's just planned before like, oh you like

  290. my schooling message. I'm not scolding, h ha ha. I'm

  291. just stating obvious facts. How you feel is the Holy Strait,

  292. not me. Yeah, all right, guys, Okay, let's read the

  293. word Luke chapter nine, verse twenty three, twenty four. Then

  294. he said to them all, if anyone desires to come

  295. after me, let him deny himself and take up his

  296. cross daily and follow me. For whoever desires to save

  297. his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life

  298. for my sake will save it. Ah, this is so hard, guys.

  299. Deny yourself, deny yourself. Later, what we're gonna eat our pasts?

  300. Stephen doctor again? You know I don't like doctor Llah

  301. inside Joe, inside Joe. Deny yourself because the newcomer will

  302. like to eat there. I don't know. I'm just saying.

  303. I don't know. I don't know. I just say, I

  304. just say, I just say, just say. Ah Rasay John thirteen,

  305. twenty four, twenty five. Say, it's a new commandment. I

  306. give to you that you love on another. I've loved

  307. you that you also love another. By this, all will

  308. know that you are my disciples. If you have loved

  309. for one another. Let me ask John this question. No

  310. one always catch your passes? Seven? Hey John, just wondering

  311. in XBU right does everybody love everybody? Don't answer that?

  312. Not sure? Good answer? Friends, send me ask you a question.

  313. Do you love the people here? Bible say war, block

  314. stop barrel war. Bible say what if you have loved

  315. for one another? You are my disciples? War. I love

  316. passe Elwain. Josiah is such an awesome guy. I love him,

  317. but I cannot stand past the Stephen. I love Adrian

  318. because it's such an awesome guy. No, but I cannot

  319. stand this other sister that looks at me funny. Hello,

  320. are you reading the same scripture I'm reading? Do you

  321. love for another? Do you know that God knows that

  322. we will stamp? You asked you to forgive, So I asked

  323. the question, how many times once I forgive? O? God?

  324. How many times once I forgive? Is he seven times?

  325. Then Jesus say you bling med see me? Right? Come

  326. not seven times, but seventy seven times. You go story

  327. Kaunta forgive, don't hold grudges, don't be offended, so they

  328. can live on another. Why so that when people see

  329. you they know that you are Jesus disciples. But is

  330. my right? But everybody costs me trouble? And then the

  331. scripture says, deny yourself. Wow, friends, tough men have to

  332. be Christian, and that I'm not rethinking my commments. John

  333. fifteen sixteen seventeen says, you did not choose me, but

  334. I chose you and appreciate you. Appointed you that you

  335. should go and bare fruit, that your fruit should remain.

  336. And whatever you ask the Father in my name, he

  337. will give you these things. I command you that you

  338. love one another again, love on another. What is the girl, friends,

  339. of all this? Our maturity? It is for our maturity

  340. at the end of the day. It is when we

  341. have to deal with our pain, when we have to

  342. deal with our suffering, we have to deal with our

  343. own offenses, and we have to humble ourselves. We mature

  344. when we have to deal with all the not so

  345. nice things to deal with. We mature because we know

  346. that God is in control. He's the one, and we

  347. get perfected as human beings. Amen. We get perfected when

  348. we love on another, when we deny ourselves, when we

  349. become less selfish, when we think of others. Hey, can

  350. I ask you a similar question? Wouldn't you mean to

  351. be awesome if everyone asks you whether you know each

  352. other very well or not, that you're loving to one

  353. and that you are friendly, don't don't even talk about living,

  354. don't don't even thought about loving. Let's not go there.

  355. Let's just go with friendly and smile at each other.

  356. Just say hello. Do you know how big the atmosphere

  357. would change? Right? You will know? Yes, I know you're

  358. having a bad day. It's okay. You don't have to force it,

  359. and we force it. En, don't have to force it.

  360. But when someone else is having a bad day, care

  361. for the person. Now, okay, can I pray for you?

  362. That's not my job, passing. It's not my job. Yeah,

  363. it's not your job. It's a commandment from the Lord Collogens,

  364. and I says him. We preach warning every man and

  365. teaching every man in all wisdom that we may present

  366. every man perfect in crisis as wow. We teach, No,

  367. why are we teaching this? So that you can be you.

  368. All of you are here. Every man and woman can

  369. be presented perfect, perfect to who perfect in Jesus, to

  370. the end. To this end, I also labeled striving according

  371. to His working, which works in me mightily. I'm not

  372. just sharing this because I'm perfect and I've got everything right.

  373. God is also working in my life. But we grow together,

  374. Amen Mental for nineteen says, and he said to them,

  375. follow me, and I will make you visions of men.

  376. Going back to the first point, following Christ, that is

  377. the that'side. That foundation is to be correct. If that

  378. foundation is not there, all these other things is rare

  379. hard to accept. You'll catch that. If you're understanding or

  380. your foundation of following Christ is not there and you're

  381. still struggling with that, then all these other things very difficult,

  382. very difficult to do because we don't really know what

  383. is the goal post. We don't really know that actually

  384. we are following God Christ and we're becoming more like him. Right,

  385. it becomes about us more than Christ. That's that's that's

  386. the reality. It becomes about me and what I need

  387. and what I want and how I feel, more than

  388. following Jesus. That's the thing. But what does it mean

  389. to be a disciple? Have we thought about that? And again,

  390. let me present this case to you. Isn't the gold maturity?

  391. Even in discipleship? Jesus came to disciple the tree, Sorry,

  392. Jesus came for three years to disciple not just chelve disciples,

  393. but more than chelf disciples. But the twelve disciples will

  394. remember because they stuck with him all the way until

  395. the end, well, not all the way in the end.

  396. If they start with the way, then you have a child

  397. like more than like more crosses are okay, but they

  398. stuck in terms of their life. But in the area

  399. of them sticking with him even after he left, they

  400. were around and there were more one hundred and twenty

  401. in the upper room. Right, But what was the goal

  402. of discipleship showing them a way to live? Right, so

  403. that they can not just live the way, but they

  404. can share with others. Therefore, go make disciples, teach other

  405. people what christis taught. That's why we have the gospels. Ya,

  406. you'll catch that, right. I'm talking very very very fundamental stuff. Okay,

  407. I hope you catch it. And how you following me?

  408. So then the question is what do we do with this?

  409. What do we do with all these things? Do we

  410. do the same? Do we grow in mature or is

  411. it just about making me feel happy? Past the steven

  412. feel happy and blessed? You know sometimes we talk about it, Oh,

  413. bless blessed, blessed, bless bless blessed. Best, it's all about

  414. blessing on you. No, it's about maturity, friends, It's about maturity.

  415. It'sbout understanding your role in God. You know, right? Amen?

  416. Do we catch that?

  417. Not?

  418. If the goal is maturity, then discipleship is necessary. If

  419. the goal is maturity, if the goal is this blessing her,

  420. then no need discipleship. Actually, just come and receive every week,

  421. just come past the STEEVEE will open the althar right

  422. and have a blessing service. Well, I'm talking blessed for me.

  423. But you see, if I talk about this, you know

  424. some places they practice this. Friends, That's not a goal.

  425. The goal is to share the good news so that

  426. more people know who their God is. More people can

  427. experience Christ, more people can live a life of abundance. Amen,

  428. they know Christ is because we who have experienced God

  429. have our break truths. Right, we break through, We have

  430. transformation in our lives. Amen. This morning at PJA, I

  431. shared about God has a plan for everyone, you know,

  432. and I try to draw from what the Bible says

  433. about God having a plan to how we express it

  434. in church, right, and how when people get with the program. Okay,

  435. what program God's programming? Okay, not just our program, our program,

  436. no power and friends. The only reason why our program

  437. will be more power because it's derived from the word

  438. of God. Just that if our program is just a

  439. ten step program to be positive thinking, no power and

  440. can I can? I be honest with you. The only

  441. reason why a lot of things repractice ex has power

  442. is because it's derived from the world of God. That's

  443. the only reason. There's no other reason, right, this thing

  444. about church planting, discipleship to church planting, the only reason

  445. why is because it's in God's word that that is

  446. the only reason. Because we are nothing without God. We

  447. are nothing without God's presence. Right, We'll be kidding ourselves

  448. with to say that, oh we thought of everything, you know. No,

  449. it's all just rehashed, not really blessphema, but rehash from

  450. the Bible on how we can apply it. Because it's

  451. all about applying God's word in our lives today. Amen,

  452. this is said. The words is different now. Bible say decipership.

  453. We say, haddel. Huh what's that? Well, I'll show you

  454. why is that now? Because today we're talking about disciples first.

  455. Right.

  456. Oh, by the way, my title is, let's talk discipleship.

  457. If you didn't already realize I guys, okay not, let's

  458. talk discipleship. So in X what is our expression of

  459. deciper ship? Let me share a few right, very simple,

  460. very simple one. Okay, first quarantines eleven to one. Imitate

  461. me as I also imitate Christ. Right, imitate me, and

  462. we express it through this relationship. We call hard els. Okay,

  463. Pasca the name his regular names. Right. What is a huddle? Okay?

  464. What is a huddle? Well, you know, have you guys

  465. played sports before? Okay? Some yes, some know so hoddle.

  466. So some sports, not every spot because medle, but some sports,

  467. like especially in sports the like, maybe they're playing a game,

  468. you know, and then they're losing or winning or whatever,

  469. and then you know, there's a time out and then

  470. they come and huddle together. So that's the picture. Because

  471. Parson used to play American football, so he does it,

  472. So you got that from there where we come and

  473. we huddle together to say, hey, hey, hey, things are

  474. happening in my life. Hey, I'm struggling with this. Hey,

  475. things are happening. How do we restrategize. How do I

  476. need to grow in anything or not? Do I need

  477. to address an anything or not so that I can

  478. go and win in life? You're your cash. That that's

  479. where the world had come from, right for us LA

  480. At the end of the day, it's discipleship lab. Okay,

  481. let's not get confused. I know I'm used the one mentoring. Okay,

  482. let's just stick to it. Decipit ship for now, right,

  483. and we haddle. That's why we have a haddle. That's

  484. why we have a discipleship relationship. It's just that for

  485. X we just used to. You go to another chest,

  486. you say, oh I want to be an addle. They

  487. look at you funny, Okay, just our church. Just don't

  488. don't get so stuck up on the name. But the

  489. heart of the discipleship, right, and it's a deeper discipleship relationship.

  490. It's not a program. No, It's not like okay that

  491. come give me ten times promp. No, it's a relationship

  492. and you know him and you know me. We need

  493. to trust each other. When you build a relationship, it

  494. takes time, right, it texts time. That's what we do here.

  495. Do you know that, yes, the the disciples say yes

  496. to follow Jesus, but the trial state because they had

  497. a relationship with him. Do you know that the rest

  498. also had a relationship, but they left him. Jesus is

  499. quite relational. No, but he was so in your face? Right?

  500. Why do I say that? Imagine one day, you know, John, John,

  501. who's in your hoddle? Don't have okay? Who any guy

  502. you talk to? One? Sorry, just pick one guy, one

  503. one pick on homie Victor. Okay, So let's say Victor

  504. come to John, and then John say, hey, we're gonna multiply,

  505. and Victor's gonna help. You know, I know Victor won't

  506. say it, but just use his name for fun, Okay,

  507. for fun. Then Victor just go and you know, then

  508. he asked, Victor, Victor, can you go and watch out

  509. for this guy and all? And Nola, Nola, John, do

  510. you know, let's stay together forever as homes. Let's let's

  511. stay here because we've got such at relationship, you know,

  512. let's not go anywhere, let's not multiply, let's just stay

  513. here forever. And then John, looking away say get thee

  514. behind me, say turn, hey, Jesus, did that know something?

  515. We think? How it is all like I must feel

  516. good on it. Of course I know Victor won't say that. Okay,

  517. I think Victor. Victor will say, yeah, let's go do it.

  518. Let's go plan other homes. What is huddles is a

  519. deeper disciple relationshi. Okay, let me show you this picture,

  520. so we have huddle. Okay, So this again expression in

  521. our church. Let's talk about discipleship, right, so expression of

  522. our church. So hodder is a deeper discipleship relationship. Right.

  523. So there are different ones here in a harder relationship.

  524. That's the term use, okay. And the way we express

  525. it is most leaders, if not all, actually all leaders

  526. need to be in a harder relationship. We recognize its important,

  527. right because they need the support they need to know,

  528. have that touch base. Right. And then you go one

  529. level up. It's homes. Okay, how many of you are

  530. here in the homes? Just wave your hand, you're in

  531. the homes. Okay. Homes is a smaller group, right, And

  532. of course you have homes home leaders. You use the

  533. term cell group, right, And is that discipleship happening in homes?

  534. There is, there is, there is, but probably not as

  535. deep as a hard relationship. Now, there is discipleship happening

  536. in homes. You go to homes when you're when you

  537. build relationship with your homes leader and and uh you

  538. know or cell groob leader or small group leader. And

  539. then they build relationship and then you you know, you

  540. share them, you pray, they encourage you in the world. Yeah,

  541. there is, right, there is, you know. And then of

  542. course there is al So it is, but it's not

  543. as deep as a had allah, but there is. It

  544. is happening. So it's good this happening. And then after

  545. that we have the house. So is the house here?

  546. Here's the house, right, and of course you have the house.

  547. In terms of asla. You know, am I doing some

  548. for discipleship with you? Yeah? I am actually, you know,

  549. encouraging you to follow Christ? Right, So there is some

  550. But is it very effective? Well maybe? Okay, if you

  551. know me enough and you trust me enough and you

  552. know that you know or you believe that the Lord

  553. is speaking to me, then you will receive it. But

  554. if let's say, I don't know whether this guy makes

  555. sense or not now you know, or your first time here,

  556. and then you may not be able to receive it

  557. loud DESI. Even in the world of God, it says,

  558. you know the skit the seed is scattered, you see,

  559. the seat is scattered off you here, it is scattered.

  560. But some will fall by the wayside, some will fall

  561. on good ground. So actually, the determination of whether you

  562. get a good word no, no, no, it's not a speaker. No,

  563. I can be the most boring speaker. I hope I'm

  564. not loud, okay, right, or the most funny speaker. But

  565. it's not up to me. It is up to the

  566. ground whether they will receive the word of God and

  567. whether the world got bad food. You catch that? So

  568. is it effective? Eh, it's happening by see effective. I'm

  569. just trying to paint the picture. And then we have

  570. hangouts right next next, And hangouts is kind of like

  571. interest group. Do you have any interest group? Here? Passes steven?

  572. God don't have not sure? Hiking God on huh? Bouldering, Wow,

  573. bouldering not not pickaboler I thought pickupball is like the

  574. latest spot for younger kid outs. Okay, expensive spot, all

  575. those play pickable on got a lot. This was comeing, Okay,

  576. So hangouts, hang out. It's like, you know, hang out,

  577. hang out beyond church chill. You know, is there actually

  578. can discipleship still happening? Hang out? Can can?

  579. Right?

  580. I see that? Yeah? Yeah I can can? Because you

  581. can actually because see why it is the zaber ship.

  582. You are trying to encourage someone to be more like Christ,

  583. right right right, So that's the type ship. So it

  584. still can happen and hang out when maybe you you know,

  585. go ma, can together, Mama, and then you share about

  586. tessimoney you know, and then you encourage your encourage that. Yeah,

  587. yeah's still happening. So that's good. There is still some

  588. fond disciplage happening. And then you have the harvest can

  589. discipleage happen in the harvest can, right? Can? When you

  590. talk to someone who don't know Christ yet, you are

  591. sort of discipling the person. Your catch that, your cash that.

  592. So there's some phone decibe happening. Right. So this is

  593. just a rough diagram or concept on discipleship in acts.

  594. But the reason I want to show you this is

  595. where are you at. Do you know that our desire

  596. is that everybody would be in a huddle. Do you

  597. know why because that's how Jesus did it. Do you

  598. want to be part of the so you have to decign?

  599. Do you want to be part of the five thousand

  600. that come and McCant good food and then say bye

  601. bye to Jesus? Or do you want to be even

  602. part of the seventy that came and did miracles but

  603. then when they go and get some they say bye bye?

  604. Or do you want to be out the tithe or

  605. even better, do you want to be part of the

  606. tree that was there with Jesus and they failed by sleeping?

  607. He didn't culture to follow him when he went and prayed.

  608. The only tree that follow you know, the inner circle.

  609. We are all in different parts, but my encouragement to

  610. you is that if you all can come closer, they'll

  611. be great, because then that will determine your growth. They

  612. will determine your growth. A lot of people are very

  613. interested to just hang out and hang out. Some just harvest,

  614. some just house. I'm sure if you are happier in

  615. the harvest, right, you will definitely talk and now hey,

  616. come to just no maybe doing Christmas on me? Waste

  617. that law? Waste that law? Or are we just happy

  618. to be in the house? Oh maybe some asa? Oh

  619. I love homes are Steven? Who's so awesome? More frequent

  620. to homes and than house? Now more frequent? Right, never

  621. miss any homeschools or the fellowship is good friends. The

  622. goal is discipleship and not just yourself. The goal is

  623. that you also disciple someone because the last I read

  624. it says here go therefore make disciples of our nations,

  625. not only past us and leaders and home leaders and people. Know, everybody,

  626. everybody have a part to play because we have this

  627. precious good news that you can't just keep it yourself.

  628. You see the different levels that can happen. Right, So

  629. how do we make disciples in X? How do we

  630. make disciples? Well, we do life together. That's the term

  631. you use, do life together? Huh you mean you talk

  632. about a lot of things. Yeah, you know? And can

  633. I break this mentality? Sometimes we are like, oh, discipleship

  634. means if I discipleship relationship with this person, I'm sure everything.

  635. Can you chiller? Can you stillly build relationship or not?

  636. We are not expecting everybody to be robots. Please are

  637. if you are in a dic, please don't show me everything.

  638. I cannot take your stress. Don't so straight away? That extreme,

  639. you know. And he's spending time friends. You cannot avoid

  640. spending time, Jesus spend a lot of time with the disciples.

  641. If you want to disciple someone or if you want

  642. to build a meaningful discipleship relationship with someone, you have

  643. to spend time. Oh but I mean there's no time.

  644. Make time. If not, then how We've got to decide

  645. what is important in our lives at the end of

  646. the day. That's the truth of the matter. And ultimately

  647. we want to teach people to follow Christ. We want

  648. to follow Christ, and we want to teach people to

  649. follow Christ. So to end, I want to show you

  650. a picture of discipleship of how els in x. Okay,

  651. I just want to show you a picture of it.

  652. I didn't prepare The people I appreciated in the future

  653. spansity and I prepared, but this I didn't prepare. I

  654. know it will be good. La Okay. So can I

  655. just invite a Passu seven to come out and send

  656. here and we can get a mic. Okay, just show

  657. you a picture of heard a relationship you x okay

  658. Kennah okay, great? Yeah, so passus Steveen you'll know him right, Yeah,

  659. so you don't know him okay, anyway, he's a CBC

  660. relat so passes even Who is your who is your

  661. hot leader?

  662. Oh?

  663. I'm your hard leader that okay? Okay, I'm your hold leader. Okay, great,

  664. So it's going to be all weird. So so how

  665. long has I have I been? How long have you

  666. had this heart of relationship? I remember story thing? La

  667. is it tres tres? Okay? Was I your first had

  668. of leader?

  669. No?

  670. Before that? It was John Poon? How long was it was?

  671. That?

  672. Six years? So how do you started? How did the

  673. harder relationship started? John Poon?

  674. I was in the homes and I was hungry to

  675. grow and I know that how convicted I.

  676. Had that one of the literally the way to grow

  677. is the apleship. So when I was convicted, uh, and

  678. it was I really had a relationship with John, with

  679. the homesteader.

  680. He was caring for me.

  681. So for me, it was quite busy to think about

  682. who it was join.

  683. Yeah, so that's how it happened.

  684. So I spoke to him and say, hey, would you

  685. be came to Discycley and we both prayed about it

  686. and that's how it happened.

  687. Okay, so how how how share with us? Like how

  688. do you happen? Do you on me every week? Like

  689. how in the beginning, how do you happen like beyon

  690. me every week?

  691. Or like yeah, okay, So we didn't meet every week,

  692. but I think there was already a frequency of seeing

  693. each other because we were in the same cherch run

  694. and homes was happening. We will see each other at

  695. least twice a week because of prayers, avice, homes and

  696. worship service on Sunday. But the one on once happened

  697. when either he wants to say, hey, you want to

  698. share with me something and then.

  699. We'll meet, or sometimes we just so we both have

  700. shared interests as well, so we hang out a lot

  701. of them shared interesting Okay, that's how we build relationship.

  702. Also interest h camers, okakay.

  703. Video staff and we did we did sports or socialde

  704. and then yeah, and then whenever I have something that

  705. I want his counsel, I would.

  706. Say, hey, John, can we lead up? And we like

  707. to ask you guys, Oh, I'm going through something. I

  708. think someone to hear me out that's how.

  709. So how do you grow in your faith being in

  710. that relationship with John? How do you grow in your

  711. faith specifically? Any any lesson you learn?

  712. Or Yeah, I think he challenged me quite a bit. Uh.

  713. He would ask me things that, hey, do you want

  714. to help do this for homes?

  715. I think your lady do do leadership for homes for example,

  716. So constantly challenging me little by little.

  717. I think that also grew my go best see groom

  718. and face.

  719. I think that was usually something that often happens was

  720. when I mess up, you would address.

  721. Me Stephen, whatever you're doing, You've gotta stop doing this.

  722. You need to uh you know, you got to improve.

  723. So yeah, okay, was it smooth sailing like like, oh

  724. everything was awesome or were there are times where it

  725. was challenging with John?

  726. It was quite I think it was quite smooth.

  727. Okay, okay, now change my one question? Saw my one?

  728. So no, but I thought it supposed to be sailing,

  729. know how the leaders should be no, loving, caring and

  730. all the kind of stuff like I just I just

  731. saw johny.

  732. But to clarify, I think we also for those that

  733. we had the night we talked about this or so

  734. u it were smooth sailing.

  735. There was a lot of stepping on toes of.

  736. There are moments that we uh just weren't able to

  737. talk to each other, like from my sideline because of offenses.

  738. Maybe certain things addressed and couldn't make it.

  739. Uh, you know, and we're all human, you know, sometimes

  740. we get affected by the indusecurencies and stuff like that.

  741. But no, it wasn't so silling. I gave the analogy

  742. to them.

  743. I say, uh, it's it's not a bit of roses.

  744. It's a bit of roses with horns were horny.

  745. But but there are difficult moments.

  746. But I think based on the experience, we address those

  747. difficult moments as well.

  748. We don't. We don't don't just swik under the round.

  749. And it's true that addressing that I grew a lot.

  750. Uh yeah, So why do you choose me as your leader?

  751. I think for me was a few things.

  752. Number One, it was the journey where when I was

  753. with John, I think we hit a certain toll, meaning

  754. we were I was in a season in life that

  755. we both felt that I think you will grow more

  756. under another person. And now, of course, at the time

  757. I spoke to Past, I say, yeah, I think it's

  758. the time, because that was when I was getting into

  759. church blanding to plan to you, and then I prayed

  760. about it and I felt like and at that time

  761. also because I say and I I mean, we are

  762. colleagues and he's technically my manager at one so we've

  763. talked about it a lot, talk about.

  764. Things a lot. Every day we talk about things.

  765. And you would also do life with me and natural

  766. because number one, he has.

  767. To put a lot in my life.

  768. And number two, there were things I wanted to learn

  769. from him in church planking because he has church plunder

  770. and there were certain things that I wanted to catch

  771. from his life. And that was when after praying, I

  772. felt the confirmation he is to approach myself.

  773. Did I expect the thanza? Okay, okay, okay, So are

  774. you deciping anyone now?

  775. Yes?

  776. You want to call one of them up so you

  777. can interview them? Okay, come come, come, okay? You when

  778. I can passed to West the thing? Yeah? So West,

  779. how long have you been under Pastor Steven's discipleship? Two

  780. and a half years? How has it been? Okay? Yeah? Yeah,

  781. so so has it been a smooth sailing? Right? Right?

  782. How have you grown in your faith under his discipleship?

  783. That's good? So it works? Yeah, are you discipling anyone else? Yeah?

  784. Who is a person here? Yeah? Okay? Can you call

  785. a bazar? Can I come? Come? Can I can? I

  786. can come? Are you seeing something interesting happen? Yeah? Okay?

  787. So yeah, So how long has Wesley so he's disabue

  788. with it? Clear? Clear? Okay? So how long has he

  789. been discibling you? A year? Plas? Okay? Okay, So how

  790. have you have you learned anything from Wesley? Or maybe

  791. once the one thing that you've learned that's really impacted

  792. your life devotion? Okay? Okay, is there anything you're gonna

  793. tell Wesley right now?

  794. Mama?

  795. Session later okay, okay, okay, cool? Cool? So thanks? So

  796. can you see the picture of the Diciper ship? You know, Church?

  797. What we why we say let's get into a harder

  798. let's do Diciper ship? You know? Can you see the

  799. the growth also of the person? You can write? You

  800. can write, I'm sure, I mean it's not just the

  801. only thanks. I please have a see I I can

  802. give them a hand just so that you know it's

  803. not just a guide thing. And uh and Church bund thing.

  804. I want to invite a girl leader to come up.

  805. Let me try and find someone that I can ask Sharona,

  806. you don't find anyone? Yeah, I don't. I want to

  807. call it Genie, but she's in excess. Yeah, come, come, come, Yeah.

  808. So who is who is your Holi leader?

  809. Okay? Sorry?

  810. Yeah? Who's your holiday? My wife? Who is that? Who

  811. is that? They don't know? Say the name? My goodness? Okay,

  812. my wife is the hold Okay, yeah, I have no idea.

  813. What's have anyone? Don't look? I know? Yeah. So how

  814. long has have you been under her discipleship? Yeah? Plus

  815. how's it been good? Bad? Can be honest? I know? Okay, okay,

  816. that's good. So what's the one thing you've learned from

  817. her in regards to your faith? Growing? Growing your faith? Like?

  818. How has the relationship caused you to grow in your faith?

  819. She also challenges me a lot. Oh and there are

  820. times when I didn't want to actually, you know, follow

  821. Jesus this way, but she challenges me, uh to always

  822. do the right thing, and oh, do things that I

  823. don't like.

  824. Do things here don't like? Yeah, okay, but do you

  825. do it in the end? Yes? Okay? And was it

  826. good in the end or it was good?

  827. Yeah, it was good.

  828. Before that, it was like a lot of fear, but

  829. then like after overcoming it, Uh, I agree, I grew.

  830. Okay, Like what's the one Like, what's that thing if

  831. you don't mind sharing that that challenge you that you

  832. didn't want to do, but in the end you did,

  833. and then you're growing. You grow confronting people. Okay, how

  834. about your personal life? Like do you grow in your

  835. personal life? Like any area of your life that you

  836. know the hard also speaking to the grow besides your faith.

  837. Uh yes, there's a lot of things that I learned

  838. from her, like, uh, I think maybe relationships.

  839. Relationships.

  840. I always thought that, uh you know, if you're not

  841. really with this person already, you can you know, just

  842. on the bridge.

  843. But no, she.

  844. Challenges me to you know always you know, uh be

  845. go to the other person.

  846. So please do and cross sharing now the bridge? No,

  847. no no more, no more? Yeah, just so fun. Anything

  848. you want to say to your horded leader. She's not here.

  849. She's amazing, so she can hear this data.

  850. You're amazing.

  851. Okay, Okay, are you deciping anyone? Yes? Can you call

  852. the person out so you can interview the person. Grace, Grace, Ah, okay, okay,

  853. come so, Grace. How long have you been in a

  854. disap relationship? Uh? Two years? Two years? Okay, two years?

  855. You're not sure that? Okay, So how has it been?

  856. It's good, gonna tell the true Yeah in church, you know,

  857. so it's good. So do you learn anything in terms

  858. of growing your faith through the relationship? And what is

  859. the thing? Yes, Godla thinks she don't cry? Don't cry? Okay, no,

  860. don't cry. She sorry? How have you grown in your

  861. faith through the discipled relationship? I think it's compact. Two

  862. years ago I did grow throughout like she will challenge

  863. me in things that I don't like. Looks familiar. She

  864. forced me to do. Challenge, challenge. The one thing that

  865. she forced you to do that real benefit that you

  866. confronting people, confronted guys. Okay, okay, sure. Anything I said

  867. to sharing because she.

  868. Is amazing.

  869. Is good. Okay, Okay. Are you are you decipling anyone

  870. right now? No? Not yet? Not yet? Not yet? Okay, great,

  871. Thank you so much. Give them a hand. That was

  872. quite fun, a bit different than the other. You notice

  873. a pattern, right, you know it's a pattern. The goal

  874. of discipon ship to be more like Christ. Right. I

  875. don't know whether you are convinced, because I know sometimes

  876. when you think about this appership, it's like, oh, I know,

  877. and I have to open up my life to people,

  878. you know, and you know now you're hearing things they

  879. forced me, you know. But in the end it's good

  880. because sometimes I mean the word I like to use

  881. this encourage that not challenge, okay, challenge and burning bridges. Okay,

  882. we learned something today. I hope you see how or

  883. what we are trying to do in our church. And

  884. I think the thing that I hope that everybody here

  885. will at least consider, you know, I know it's I

  886. know it will take time. And oh and there's one

  887. thing that I want to highlight also in this whole conversation.

  888. It's not just between two people. We got to also

  889. recognize that God is there. And I also would sometimes

  890. say that I recognize that God speaks through my discipler. Right.

  891. We did this just to share. We did this in PJ.

  892. And one of the people that I managed to walk

  893. through life is Jason Jasons from the day he came

  894. to XPJA all the way and though now you know.

  895. And the one thing he mentioned, you know, and I'm

  896. not saying it to both, but the one thing you

  897. mentioned is like he said, like one thing that why

  898. he recognizes the leadership is every time I share something

  899. with him, Uh, you know, he feels like God is speaking.

  900. And the interesting thing on my part is that I

  901. have no idea. I don't remember I said. So we

  902. got to also recognize that when we're in this you know,

  903. you can't be under anybody law. But when you recognize

  904. that God is in the picture, then you know that

  905. you're growing or so not because of the person, but

  906. because God is speaking. Amen. Yeah, So that's why I

  907. want to share your There are two things I want

  908. to share you so resources about discipleship. You've got some

  909. nice you gotta learn a little bit more. So this

  910. is basically a book from Pascua Enough and it's just

  911. hard to hard chat on the different discipleship journeys in X. Now,

  912. if you think that, oh no, I'm a requiet person,

  913. decipis not for me or you know, the wonderful thing

  914. about discipleship that I've learned is that it is something

  915. for everybody. Everybody can participate. You know, when God comes

  916. out with a strategy. It's not just a one size

  917. it's not a one size fit or strategy. You know,

  918. it is a strategy that can relate to everybody. The

  919. only question is are we willing to subscribe to it?

  920. So if you if you are not convinced, well you

  921. can go and check out this book because this book

  922. has so many different type people, so many different permutations

  923. of relationships. But yet the goal is the same for everyone. Growth, maturity,

  924. growing deeper in the faith. You know that's the goal. Right.

  925. The other thing that I will share if you if

  926. you want to hear all the saucy tony details. We

  927. were quite honest in this podcast, Stephen, so your past

  928. enough pus disciples for many years from the start of

  929. the church, even before that, disciples me right also for

  930. many years. And then now at the opportunity to disciple

  931. bussus Stephen, and you see the ligo. Okay, let me

  932. end with this. Why did God use because see it's

  933. not our idea, No, it's God's idea is in the word.

  934. Why did God use discipleship as a way to spread

  935. the good news? Why did God use discipleship as a

  936. way to teach people the lifestyle and grow. Why Because

  937. it works, friends, and because it can cater to anybody

  938. at any level. Because it's as simple as imitate me

  939. as an imitate Christ, follow me as I follow. It's

  940. not about getting oh I must get everything right or

  941. must know friends. God used discipleship for this reason so

  942. that all of us can slowly grow together and one

  943. day you can teach and you can disciple another person.

  944. Is really happening in your household. Parents, you're discipling your kids.

  945. You know. This is why discipleship. I hope you're convinced. Amen,

  946. Let's pray. Thank you, Ad Harley.

  947. We hope you've been blessed by this message. For more
