You're listening to a message to go from acts church.
-
We hope this message will light up your tea.
-
Have you grown closer to Christ? Are you seeing progress
-
in your personal goals? Okay, so maybe one years' all
-
bit too far, Like we can take it to six months.
-
Look at yourself. Where are you at this set of
-
goals that you have, Maybe have a set of physical
-
targets that you have in your own life. I want
-
to lose some weight, or I want to be closer
-
to God, I want to read my Bible more. Where
-
are you at one year from now? Are your relations
-
ships healthier and stronger? With your children, with your parents,
-
with your spouse, with your families. If you're closing eyes,
-
can open it now wake up? Yeah right, So did
-
y'all have a picture or maybe you sort of zone out,
-
or or it's just a bit too far to look at.
-
So now now come back to today, to your current moment.
-
Come back on the time machine and come back to
-
current the current moment. And my next question is what
-
are some of the biggest signs or habits or changes
-
or indicators that you can see in your current life
-
that shows that they're heading to the right direction. Okay,
-
so let's take an example, the easiest example. Everybody wants
-
to be healthy, right, right, So unless you're like Jason
-
who who wants to do a full marathon Ordanzel who
-
wants to do a full what do you call it?
-
Iron Man triathlon in one year? Right, he has a
-
goal and in one year's time he can imagine him
-
of being on that bike cycling. I don't know, No,
-
you swim erst right, you swim, don't know how many
-
kilometers and then you run or you cycle, don't know
-
how many kilometers and you run how manykilometers? So you
-
can see yourself, picture yourself doing that. That's your goal.
-
I want to get there, and then you look back
-
on today. The question was what are the signs or
-
habits or indicators that can show that you're heading to
-
the right direction. Okay, So my argument this morning is,
-
or what I want to state, is that your current
-
patterns and your current habits is a very big indicator
-
of what your future will look like. Right right, Your
-
current habits, your current patterns, your current cadence, what you
-
invest in today is a very big indicator of what
-
tomorrow will look like. Okay, so you're talking about discipleship, discipleship,
-
and in the word discipleship, you have the word discipline. Right.
-
So this morning, if I have a title, my title
-
is this train to win, Train to win. I'm going
-
to bring you to our first scripture. If you have
-
a Bible, you can tend to first Corinthians Chapter nine.
-
One Corinthians Chapter nine, Versus twenty four to twenty seven.
-
I think we've already sort of opened this scripture in
-
our discipleship series, but let's go back to it today
-
again and just have the posture and perspective this morning
-
that if I want to go somewhere today, counts my
-
habits today count okay one Corinthians nine, twenty four to
-
twenty seven. Don't you realize that in a race? This
-
is Apostle Paul speaking to the church in corinth Don't
-
you realize that in a race, everyone runs, but only
-
one person gets the price. So run to win, run
-
to win. Come on, tell you, our neighbor, you're a winner.
-
You're a winner. You're a man to win in life.
-
You're men to be successful, be an overcomer, be the
-
head and not the tail. You're man to win in life.
-
Verse twenty five. All athletes are disciplined in their training.
-
So you are man to win. But it's not just
-
a wish that we have. Verse twenty five says, all
-
athletes are disciplined in their training as a way of
-
getting that there's a way of winning. They do it
-
to win a prize that will fade away, but we
-
do it for an eternal price. So this is a
-
perspective that we have as decided of Christ, as followers
-
of Christ. All athletes are disciplined in their training Verse
-
twenty six. So I run with purpose in every step.
-
I run with purpose in every step. I am not
-
just shadow boxing punching the air. I discipline my body
-
like an athlete, training it to do what it should,
-
so profound. I disciplined my body like an athlete. How
-
many athletes are here in this place? If you there,
-
raise your hand, no, yeah, okay? How many you do
-
sports here? You do some sort of spots? Pick a
-
ball or yeah, yeah, see some hands going up? You run, pickleball,
-
pick a ball, pick a ball, tennis, ping pong, badminton, tennis, yeah,
-
go fetter? Uh you know badminton or sea or if
-
you run, I know that's a lot runners. Yes, all
-
you swim, football, futsal. I disciplined my body like an athlete,
-
training it to do what it should. Otherwise, I fear
-
that after preaching to others, I myself might be disqualified.
-
So the last verse is scary, especially for us preachers. Uh,
-
we're gonna take this bunch of versus in First Corinthian
-
chapter nine as the anchor of our words. Study this morning, okay,
-
And before that, let's go to another set of scriptures
-
in the Book of Hebrews Hebrews twelve, verse eleven. No
-
discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful later on. However,
-
it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those
-
who have been trained by it. Let me read that again,
-
Hebrews twelve eleven. No discipline seems pleasant at the time,
-
but painful later on. However, it produces a harvest of
-
righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.
-
So much in this just this one verse, right, like
-
as discipline can go either way. Like as a parent
-
we discipline our children, right, it's always like the practice
-
of training people to obey the rules. You want your
-
kids to grow up in the ways of the Lord.
-
You need to have discipline, you need to have rules
-
or behavioral changes. We use punishment sometimes to correct wrong behavior.
-
Discipline can also mean to train yourself to do something
-
in a control and habitual way. Right, So you look
-
at someone who's very disciplined, You're like, you know, the
-
guy's always on time every morning, he's running ten kilometers.
-
He's lived a very disciplined life. Right, And at the
-
moment of discipline, especially on days where you don't feel
-
like doing it, it's very painful. It's like, why why
-
have to wake up at five am to read my
-
Bible every day? I want to sleep in. However, it
-
produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who
-
have been trained by it. All right, So let me
-
give you a quick statement. Your habits of today determine
-
your harvest of tomorrow. Your habits of today determine your
-
harvest of tomorrow. Imagine yourself one year from now. You
-
have goals, you have things you want to have change
-
in your life. You want to have unforgiveness gone. You
-
want to build your relationship back with your parents. Can
-
I say what you do today? Your habits, your patterns
-
of today will determine your harvest of tomorrow. That's just
-
paraphrasing hebrewshapter eleven. Okay, so going back to First Corinthians,
-
uh chapter nine. Remember that verse said all athletes are
-
disciplined in their training, and a few of you are
-
have exposure to sports and have gone to some training.
-
So so let me just go to that today. I've
-
got a picture of a man running. Can just show that, Anthony, Yeah, okay,
-
this guy. Man, Look at this guy, he's an athlete.
-
Look like there's teacher Max getting ready to do to
-
do one hundred meters sprint. Let's talk about training for
-
a while, because we saw that word come up a
-
few times in the both the scriptures we read earlier.
-
Let's talk about training. Okay, so Paul said this, all
-
athletics are disciplined training. And what does training involve? Okay,
-
what that's training involves. It can be like a physical
-
training like an athlete, or it can be training in
-
terms of you know, your studies or learning something. But
-
training has these few elements, right. It involves repetition of
-
a specific task or exercise. Right when you're doing a
-
training like say, for example, tennis, and you go for
-
a training session and you do a lot of drills.
-
So a drills, a drill is not what you actually
-
do in a proper game, right, but a drill is
-
there to help you with certain skill set within that spot. Right,
-
So you repeat something over and over again, progressive challenge
-
to build ability over time and basically it's for you
-
to help you reach your goals. Okay. So to help
-
us understand what Paul was saying to the church in
-
corn this morning, I have a collection of what a
-
training routine of an Olympic swimmer is. Like, okay, you
-
want to hear that, right. So Paul and he was
-
speaking to the church in Corinth he quoted an athlete
-
training right, and even back then they had they had
-
games like Olympics and other games that would have brought
-
some examples to the church that he was sharing with.
-
So Paul is asking us to follow the training routine
-
of an Olympian in our walk with Christ. Okay, the
-
the training routine of an Olympic swimmer is two pages.
-
Let me try and go to it in one minute.
-
Are you ready? First is the training routine weekly schedule.
-
So if an Olympic swimmer, you want to get ready
-
to compete in the Olympics, this is what you do.
-
You train six to seven days a week, and the
-
sessions per day is typically two to three sessions per day.
-
So you train basically six to seven days a week
-
and every day you train two to three times. Wow,
-
that's crazy. Really. You have a morning swim from five
-
to seven am, okay, then you have an afternoon to
-
swim from two to four pm. Then you have in
-
between that a dry land or strength training okay, in
-
between your swim sessions. So that's three times a day,
-
six to seven times, six to seven days a week.
-
This it sounds like a lot. It sounds like almost
-
all of your waking hours your training. Olympic swimmer number two,
-
what do they do in their workouts? What do they
-
do when they go for a training? Each session? They
-
swim six thousand to ten thousand meters per session. That's
-
like ten kilometers. Stick to ten kilometers per session. I
-
don't know. I don't think I can walk that files
-
with the focused areas of endurance sets and long distance
-
twims and interval training okay. Then they do high intensity
-
interval resistant training. They do technique and drills to refine strokes.
-
They do raise simulation with like time sets. I'm really
-
getting tired reading this. When they're not in the pool,
-
they are weightlifting and doing strength and dry land training,
-
power and strength, explosiveness, Olympic lifts. They're assume, but they
-
do Olympic lifts as well. Bliometrics. I don't know what
-
that means, jump training, power and reaction time, mobility, flexibility,
-
and not only that, they also have nutrition and recovery.
-
So they not only have to work out and train
-
six days a week, they have to watch their diet
-
as well. Right, so I won't go through this is like,
-
it's like, we'll skip this part. But basically they watch
-
what they eat, so you can't just go eat buck
-
day every morning. Right, if you're an Olympic swimmer. Then
-
there's recovery, so they're not disciplined just in their training.
-
Their discipline in their recovery, which is eight to ten
-
hours of sleep a day, active recovery, light swims. Their
-
recovery is light swims, cycling or stretching. Then there's the
-
mental preparation, visualizing their mental race goal set things. And
-
then just before the competition, they have two to three
-
weeks of reduced training, right, so they reduce the wear
-
on the body. Then they go through with their coach
-
on the race strategy. So that was just a summary
-
of what an Olympic swimmer will go through in preparation
-
to win. Right and Paul apostle, Paul is telling us
-
that we need to train like an athlete in preparation
-
to win as well. How many if you have that
-
in your lives, in your Christian world. It sounds so overwhelming, right,
-
it sounds so overwhelming. But I think he's bringing this
-
example to us that if we have a goal, and
-
if our goal is to be closer with God, it's
-
not just it's not just like we will get that
-
straight away. I have a goal, I think about it,
-
and tomorrow it's going to be dandy. I'm achieving my goal.
-
I'm walking in what I want to do. But it
-
requires this process of train and getting there. And this
-
process is like training to compete in the games to win. Okay, again,
-
I say so, I discipline my body like an athlete
-
training to do what it should So this morning I
-
have a very simple message of how we can get
-
there in our goals and especially in the perspective of
-
a disciple of Christ. Right, if you're a disciple of Christ.
-
If you have goals in life, if you have places
-
you want to be, if you have things you want
-
to do, you want to serve in a certain capacity,
-
if you want to have quality relationships as a Christian?
-
How can we look at what the apostle said and
-
apply in our lives so that we can get there? Okay? Right?
-
Can we do that this morning? I'm going to give
-
you the four points up front, right, train to win
-
and it's just these four things. How do we get there?
-
How do we build good habits for today? How do
-
we have the mindset of an athlete? This four things?
-
Number one purpose, you start with why you want to
-
do what you're doing. Start with the intention, and you
-
pre decide. This is the planning. You pre decide what
-
are you going to do to get there? And then
-
it goes into your patterns. So when you have a plan,
-
it needs to fall in place to how it looks
-
like on a daily basis your habits. And then finally
-
pray because we need God in our lives. Okay, right?
-
So number one purpose, Number one purpose, you start with
-
your purpose. I think purpose is very important for all
-
of us, you know what with Christ as a disciple
-
of Christ. You know, if you know it is Jaala,
-
it reach. Jala is one of our previous ministers. He
-
founded Permandu and he's he's one of the key Christian
-
people in Malaysia that has very high government posts in
-
the government in Malaysia, which if you're in Malaysia you
-
know that it's not an easy thing to do, right,
-
and it is. Jalla always says this, you need to
-
have your true north in everything that you do. You
-
need to have a true north. So this is a
-
person that turns around mass Malaysian Airlines from being a
-
lost making company to making profit right and in every
-
organization he goes into, he always has this thing where
-
what is your true north? Basically saying what is your purpose?
-
You start with your purpose because when things aren't going well,
-
when it's getting difficult, you anchor on your true north.
-
You anchor on your purpose. Right, Like if you're married
-
today and there are days where it's difficult and challenging
-
and the person which you marry is the last person
-
you want to see. There are days like that sometimes
-
yeah not for me, yeah, But then then you anchor
-
on your true north, right, you anchor on that vow
-
which you gave to each other. Although if you're a parent,
-
and there are days where like like this morning, where
-
like the last person you want to see is your child,
-
because you know, somebody just take this person away, this
-
baby away from me. No, not me again, Yeah, it's
-
the meeting next door. Uh. You anchor on your true north.
-
Why did you say yes to being a parent in
-
the first place? I mean you must have said yes
-
to be a parent, right, yeah? Three times? For me?
-
Why did God call me to be a father? What
-
is my responsibility in the situation? You anchor on your purpose.
-
We go back to one coreentitionship, the nine, verse twenty six,
-
and I just want to bring up that verse in
-
verse twenty six. So iran with purpose in every step again,
-
paulsing this Iran with purpose in every step step. I'm
-
not just shadow boxing, boxing and punching the air. I
-
disciplined my body like an athlete, training it to do
-
what it should right. When we are rooted in achieving
-
our purpose, we are far less open to succumb to
-
the circumstances or difficulties or challenges in our journey in
-
achieving our goals. Okay, verse the context of chapter nine. Right,
-
Apostle Paul was actually sharing about how he was giving
-
up his rights for the sake of the gospel. Okay,
-
so you know the postel Paul was trying to spread
-
the Gospel as far as possible, as quickly as possible.
-
And he had really one purpose, one anchoring purpose is
-
that the Gospel goes out no matter what. That was
-
Paul's true Now, that was Paul's purpose when he said
-
this statement. Right another just a few verses before this,
-
he said this, to the week, I become as weak
-
that I might win the week. I have become all
-
things to all men, that I might be all means,
-
that I might, by all means save some. Now, this
-
I do for the Gospel's sake. He had one true purpose,
-
and he would He would forego everything else, his rights,
-
his rights to receive finances, his preferences, his likes, his
-
own goals. He gave up a lot of his own
-
personal personal rights so that the Gospel might be spread out. Right,
-
That was his true not so the thing with purpose
-
is very important because the methods are secondary. Right, purpose
-
is very important because the methods are secondary. Again, I
-
go back to the journey of a father or dad. Right,
-
So if you look at how if you're called to
-
be a dad in the future of your father today,
-
what is your purpose to be a father? What is
-
your purpose? Bring? Yep, the CFC said it, bring up
-
your your purpose as a dad, You're true. Not as
-
a father is to bring up your children in the
-
ways of the Lord, especially if you're a Christian dead
-
lah right, yeah, So so if you have that as
-
your guiding principle in life, you've got that down. I'm
-
convinced that today this is my role. Then your methods
-
and your habits and how you do that will then follow. Right.
-
So so you you would you would want to discipline
-
your children when they are not behaving well, right, you
-
will teach them the Bible, you will teach them to pray. Right,
-
But the same person in that role. Right, If the
-
purpose is just to be the child's best friend or
-
be the child's most liked father, we're in the father
-
of the year. What then I'll just buy lollipops for
-
Mica every day every morning? What lollipop for you today?
-
Here you go, right, But that's not going to go
-
well with his life, right. So, so it starts with
-
a purpose. It starts with what anchors us as Christians?
-
What anchors us as disciples of Christ? And and this
-
morning I want to suggest and also say this in
-
whatever purpose or whatever goal that you have in life,
-
especially very important goals. So I'm not talking about I
-
want to buy an iPhone by next year. Okay, I'm
-
not talking about that kind of goals. I'm not talking about,
-
Oh I want to I want to like look like
-
Justin Bieber in one year's time. Okay, that's not a
-
that's not a gold. We're talking about really important, important
-
goals and important things that you want to achieve in
-
your life. Can I can I suggest one anchoring purpose
-
that you should always have And this comes from the
-
Book of Mark Mark chapter twelve. A Pharisee asked Jesus
-
this question, what is the most important commandment that I
-
should follow? Right? He was trying to like catch Jesus
-
and you know, pin him down. But Jesus gave this reply.
-
The most important commandment is this. Listen, o Israel, the Lord,
-
our God is the one and only Lord. And you
-
must love the Lord your God with all your heart,
-
all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength.
-
The second is equally important, love your neighbors yourself. No
-
other commandment is greater than these. So if you are
-
looking at important life goals, can I say this should
-
be one of the factors that we have in our
-
lives to make sure that we honor God and love God.
-
And also the second part, to love our neighbor as ourself. Right,
-
let this be a guiding purpose and guiding principle when
-
we make our goals. That's the first purpose. Start with
-
your true north, start with what you're intending to do.
-
And then the second p is this predecide. And it's
-
really planning predecide predeciding because you don't want to make
-
a wrong decision that can derail you from reaching your
-
main purpose. So some of these thoughts I caught from
-
past Craig Rochelle, and it's I feel like it's very
-
applicable in my life, Like it really it really helps
-
me to live my life better as a person that's
-
almost turning forty. Right, Uh so what this is? Right,
-
let me just explain if you're thinking, like what kind
-
of word is this? Is it even a word? It's
-
really about planning, pretty deciding is before you before you
-
go into any situation, you decide beforehand what you want
-
to do already because there are many there are many
-
decisions in life, or sometimes you are very weighed down
-
by a lot of decisions every day. So for very
-
important things in my life, I want to decide beforehand
-
what I would do before I'm in the situation. Okay, Right,
-
you can take again the diet example. For example, so
-
I I want to have a goal of you know,
-
reaching my target weight by one year, and I know
-
there are going to the situations where I might be
-
tempted to eat more than I should, right, like for
-
example lunch today. Right, So I've got to go it's
-
going to honor God. I'm gonna this body is a
-
temple of the Holy Spirit. I'm gonna make sure that
-
it's healthy and need to lose weight. The doctor tonya
-
got high cholesterol. So before I go into a restaurant
-
and know that, okay, it's gonna be tempting for me
-
to order the extra bowl of laxa, right, I'm gonna say,
-
I'm gonna go in and order just this, right, one
-
meat and one vegetable. That's it. Right. So, so when
-
in the position to be shaken or tempted that will
-
derail you from your purpose. You've already decided what to do.
-
I love I love this principle and concept because it
-
has helped me decide beforehand what you will do in
-
aligning reach your purpose, so that whenever there situate comes,
-
you are in a better position to act accordingly to
-
your purpose and not succumb to the temptations or lack
-
of self control. Right, and today, one very important place
-
I want to suggest to you to predecide is this,
-
Predecide every day that you do one thing in faith.
-
Predecide every day that as a disciple of Christ, I
-
just want to act out in faith at least one time, right,
-
because the word of God causes to be light in darkness,
-
to be positive when everything is negative, to be obedient
-
to God's prompting you. I just give a very simple example,
-
like yesterday I went I went running in the park,
-
and so some running, right, and then it's just a
-
loop around like a lake, which is every loop is
-
one one kilometer. So so having this kind of posture that, okay,
-
today I want to just do something in faith, right,
-
and then I was running, I saw, okay, just I
-
saw a pole of like dog, dog poop, right, dog
-
poop on the middle of the of the running place
-
and obviously some I mean some dog left doc ket
-
left poop. It's not the dog's fault, is the is
-
the master's fault. Right, And and as I was running
-
the first round and I saw it there, I was like,
-
oh man, so discussing and like, okay, then just run
-
the other side bypass it and then the loop and
-
then then it's obviously still there because the dog didn't
-
come back and cleaning up right, and then went round
-
and then like this came to mind again, what if
-
I'm a Christian, if I'm if if I'm called to
-
make a difference wherever I am to be salt of
-
the world, to be light in darkness, what would I
-
do in this situation? Yeah, So, so I have this
-
posture and I want to just see if there's an
-
interaction with someone, how can I just insert some faith
-
in that that situation. And then then I say, okay,
-
I'll clean the poop, clean the poop. So yeah with
-
what with what so good thing? I was doing five rounds, right,
-
so I got rounds four and five to think about
-
how I'm going to clean the poop. So the first
-
thought was to look for a big piece of leaf
-
and just like grab it in my hands and then
-
put into the rubbish bin. Then then uh, then then
-
I ran again and I saw the column either was
-
like those actually it was meant to be a dog
-
pox those like plastic things which the that was prepared
-
for those who need to clean up after a dog
-
has done his business or a care done his business.
-
So I ran past one, but he didn't want to
-
turn back. Sorry, I pretty God just gave me another plastic. People,
-
I reached the destination and I kept running. It are
-
so okay, there's one more. I I took it a plastic.
-
It was the last plastic in the role. It's like,
-
oh thank God. And I picked up the plastic and
-
I ran to the pool and I cleaned up. I
-
cleaned up. But I mean it's it's a super simple
-
like example of how as disciples of Christ we are,
-
we're meant to make a difference no matter what. I
-
don't know. I think people are looking at me like
-
a bit weird or so of course, like what's this
-
guy running? He doesn't have a dog, But then he
-
stops and cleans the pool like he must have left
-
the dog there, just not the poop, and then went
-
back and came back and felt guilty. I don't know,
-
I don't care. But huh, yeah, exactly, I don't care.
-
I don't care. I was there to just make a
-
difference in that place. Is this you really decide every
-
day if there is a situation where you can step
-
out in faith and be the light, let's just do it,
-
because if you don't, you're often you're often gonna just
-
make the wrong decision. And then that's a leftop opportunity
-
to be salt in light. Right, there's a leftop opportunity
-
to speak faith into someone. Amen. Another thing you can
-
predecide is what your daily routine is like. Right, So
-
just now we looked at the routine of a Olympics
-
swimmer in preparation for the Olympics. They they probably had
-
the plan planned out because they decided upfront, this is
-
my life for the next six months. It's gonna be grueling,
-
but it's there for a purpose in place for me
-
to reach a goal. So predecide your daily cadence, Predecide
-
your daily routine. How will it be like? Right? And
-
you know what I'm going to say, right, you know what,
-
what is important in your daily life. You need to
-
read the Bible, need to pray, you need to have
-
about devotion. You can predecide not to not to get
-
angry when not to shout or react with anger when
-
you get angry, right. You can predecide to not fall
-
into anxiety when you feel anxious, right, but to respond
-
in praying. Just decide before that, you know, God, this week,
-
if there's something that's going to shake my peace or
-
shake my joy or rob me of my joy, I'm
-
not going to succumb to that first. But I'm going
-
to bring it to prayer that the peace of God,
-
that's the passes understanding what God my heart amen predecide.
-
So Craig Roschelle has these two statements, I want to
-
just quickly bring up the quality of our decisions determines
-
the quality of our lives. So if you're constantly making
-
bad decisions, you're in the habit of making bad decisions,
-
then the quality of our life will just hte that
-
way as well. Right, And the opposite is true, because
-
if you're constantly making small good disas every day, then
-
our quality of life will also improve. This is the
-
other statement. Decisions determine direction, and direction determines destiny. We
-
have we have many examples in the Bible of of
-
heroes of the faith that have predecided right. So for example,
-
you know Daniel, Daniel and his three friends, they they
-
were in an environment where it was totally foreign. So Daniel,
-
as a child of God, was placed into this environment
-
where the people that worship other gods, where they had
-
different dietary So you're going back to food again, different
-
dietary requirements and needs. You know, they feast on wine
-
and raid meat. They are different customs. They don't pray
-
to the one and only God, right. So he was
-
put in a place where, like man, it's going to
-
be difficult to live out being a disciple of Christ.
-
But we know that In Daniel one eight it says this,
-
but Daniel purposed in his heart. He purposed in his heart.
-
He had decided already this is my life, and my
-
life will reflect how God has called me to live.
-
Daniel that he will not defoul himself with the portion
-
of the kings that he concis now with the wine
-
which he drank these cities. Also in Joseph, Joseph who
-
went from being in a in being in a pit
-
to prison to Portifa's house and then became the prime
-
minister of the nation. Joseph also predecided, you know, right,
-
when he was in portifas house, he he was put
-
the head of everything. Right, Portifar saw that he was
-
so faithful. This guy is great. He will be in
-
charge of everything in my house. And then Portifa's wife
-
came to temp him, right, come to bit with me,
-
She said, but but we see I like this part.
-
He let me just find it. This is in the
-
Book of Genesis. And though she she being Portifa's wife,
-
spoke to Joseph day after day, he refused to go
-
to bait with her day after day, being pressured right,
-
he still had a true north. My purpose is to
-
live out my life in the way God has called
-
me to live, and I'm going to be anchored on that. Right,
-
And then he said this, My master has withheld nothing
-
from me except you because you're his wife. How then
-
could I do such a wicked thing and sin against God.
-
He didn't even say, like sin against Partifi will betray
-
his master. But he's anchor, He's true North. His purpose
-
was that he wanted to please God. He wanted to
-
please God. So predecide number one, find your purpose number two,
-
Predecide number three. Then after you have made a plan,
-
this is how it's going to be. Then becomes what
-
happens on a daily basis, which is the pattern. Number
-
three is pattern. I think this will fall into place
-
once you do the first two points. And we see
-
that Jesus also had this pattern Luke chapter five or sixteen.
-
But Jesus often withdrew to the wilderness for prayer. Often
-
he had this cadence. He had this pattern of one
-
thing to be with his father, father God in his
-
walk here on earth. And how he did that was
-
he often we drew it away. He would just go away.
-
And the wilderness speaks about a place of like isolation
-
and being alone, being not being with people. He ran
-
into those places to pray. So uh Romans offers to
-
gain very firms scripture. Do not conform to the patents
-
of this world. So the Bible tells us to do that.
-
Don't conform or be shaped by be pressured by the
-
patents of this world, but be transformed by the renewing
-
of your mind. How do we do that? We get
-
away with God, we be alone with God, we come,
-
we come to prayer with him. And uh again. The
-
statement earlier was your habits of today determines your harvests
-
of tomorrow. Your habits of today determine your harvest of tomorrow.
-
I'll share very two very quick illustrations of this, because
-
sometimes I do find myself in a place where like hm, hmmm,
-
where did I do that today? Or I find myself
-
regretting doing something in the moment. Right, And if you've
-
been there before, I don't make one. I'm like, oh, yeah,
-
MAXI is perfect, or worry is athletely just not running there. Yeah,
-
if you've been in a situation where you ask yourself like, hmmm,
-
where did I do that? It's not very wise. And
-
and one of the one of the things which I've
-
been you know again, in my household is this. I've
-
been finding that my kids started, like, have been shouting
-
at each other a lot. They shout like MI co
-
shout when they're angry or when they're dissatisfied with their siblings.
-
They shout at each other. They shout at earth, not really,
-
but at each other. And why are they shouting? Think
-
about it? Right, I mean, I raised them in my house.
-
It's because I had also patterns of like raising my
-
voice at them, right, because sometimes you just lose your
-
top man with their children on a stoughts from that,
-
with three boys, it gets quite noisy in the house.
-
And I saw this pattern, which is just the the
-
bad side of how patterns can affect your life. Right,
-
So I'm responsible for that. I'm responsible for the habits
-
I put into place. Then the harvest has come and
-
the harvest is bad fruit. Right. The flip side is
-
also true, you know. So my kids are not very bad,
-
they know show like today, but my kids have this
-
this habit now of one thing to pray before they
-
sleep every night, Like it's it's just ingrading to their
-
their their lifestyle already. And to be honest, some nights
-
I'm like, I'm too tired. I just just go to bed,
-
just go to bed. But they always say, Daddy, let's pray,
-
hark and kiss because we do that every night, like
-
we do it every night and and uh, and it's
-
like a thing they must do before ending the day.
-
So that's also a pattern which we had in place,
-
and now we have that harvest of good, a good
-
habit that comes out. So if you often find yourself
-
in a position like what did I do that? Think
-
that was not very good? Awesome? Man?
-
What it is?
-
Something so silly? Look at what you've been investing over
-
the last few weeks. If you find yourself like, oh man,
-
I've been so tired every morning, why because you've been
-
watching Netflix till twelve am the last few days. Right,
-
come on, Yeah, don't look at don't look at anyone,
-
don't look at a neighbor. Now. What you're invest in today,
-
you'll pay for tomorrow. Your habits of today will be
-
your harvest of tomorrow. Yeah. And my last point is
-
this pray so number one, purpose, number two pre designed,
-
number three patterns, and number four pray.
