  1. You're listening to a message to go from acts Church.

  2. We hope this message will light up your day.

  3. We will be teaching from Matthew chapter seven today, and

  4. because of the nature and how I usually teach, I

  5. try to teach chapter by chapter as much as I can.

  6. It may be a lot of things that I might

  7. be covering. Uh, and you may feel a little bit

  8. disjointed here and there. But again, I don't believe there

  9. is any these jointment in God's word because if you

  10. think about it, the scriptures were never written in chapters

  11. and verses. It was actually one long scroll. And as

  12. you read it, yeah, I guess it can look like

  13. in different points are being covered. But this is one sermon,

  14. sermon on the mound, and it has taken me a

  15. few months to just get through chapter five, chapter six,

  16. chapter seven, and there's so many things. No, so chapter five,

  17. what was chapter five highlighting? It was highlighting the correct

  18. needed in the followers of Christ, the be attitudes. That's

  19. where you get blessed? Is this blessed? Is that? Okay?

  20. That is where I remember sharing I don't know whether

  21. I shared it here, but I've been sharing it wherever

  22. I When the character the be attitudes. Chapter six focuses

  23. on our devotion as followers of Christ, how to pray,

  24. how to fast, how to give, how to trust God

  25. more in our lives. So go back read this sermon.

  26. It's a powerful, powerful sermon. This is one portion of

  27. the scripture in the Gospel where it's all rad for

  28. the for three chapters, because it was really the words

  29. of Christ. Jesus was teaching. And I can imagine, you know,

  30. if you're at the crowd back then and listening to

  31. him and he's going on and on. I don't think

  32. it was very long, because I think if you read

  33. chapter five, six, seven, one goal you probably you'll be

  34. done before half an hour. He's done. But he covered

  35. a lot of bases. And so today we are coming

  36. to the emphasis in chapter seven, and it is basically

  37. talking about our relationships with one another and our obedience

  38. to God. Okay, I give you the general team first,

  39. so that as I'm sharing, I will try to tie

  40. as much as possible. But I want you all also

  41. to when we study God's work, put yourself in it.

  42. Put yourself there. It's called meditating on the word. It's

  43. very very important so that it does not just remain

  44. a bunch of words, because sometimes if that is the case,

  45. then there will be no application into our lives. It's

  46. just someone saying something. But I pray that you can

  47. internalize some of these words. Okay, so chapter seven here

  48. we come. It's about doing what is right, true righteousness,

  49. and we know true righteousness is not about performing. Sometimes

  50. we think about doing the right thing, we think about

  51. it's a performance we are we are constantly being assessed

  52. on how well we perform. But if you study God's

  53. work care you realize that the emphasis is always about

  54. a transformation, not so much a performance. It's about a

  55. transform heart that will now love God and love one another.

  56. It's not about pretending or showing ourselves to love God

  57. and love one another. And that is something that we

  58. got to guard ourselves from because that is essentially hypocrisy.

  59. You're acting. That means you're not genuine. But can you

  60. be taught taught to do what is right? Can? And

  61. I mean I can teach You can teach a dog

  62. to do the right thing right, So we can also

  63. end up doing the right thing but not really doing

  64. the right thing at the same time. You know what

  65. I'm saying that means we can end up performing but

  66. not truly acting out of a transform heart and a

  67. transform behavior and a transformed attitude. And so God's values

  68. and ways his actions are consistent. That is the beauty

  69. of the scriptures when we study, when we read about Jesus,

  70. he's consistent because again he is the same yesterday, today,

  71. and forever more. And therefore his followers, the followers of Christ,

  72. the disciples, are actually required to have that inward transformation

  73. so that we will remain consistent in our outward actions.

  74. And it is only when the insight is fully transformed,

  75. and I believe we will one day be fully transformed

  76. into the likeness of Christ. We just need to always

  77. and keep on allowing God to do that new work

  78. in us. Amen. Okay, So Matthew Chapter seven, and again

  79. I warn you it's going to go if it's going

  80. to feel like we are going on different journeys. Okay,

  81. it starts off. We do not judge others. Okay, let's read.

  82. Let's read the scriptures, and I'm going to just break

  83. it down as we go along the way, break it down.

  84. And when you go back when you read the scriptures,

  85. I hope and I pray that you, it will also

  86. come to life for all of you. Okay, Matthew Chapter

  87. seven Versus seven, Chapter seven, verse one. Okay. He says this,

  88. do not judge others. I'm going to read the whole

  89. portion and do not judge. Do not judge others, and

  90. you will not be judge, or you will be treated

  91. as you treat others. The standard you use in judging

  92. is the standard by which you will be judged. And

  93. why worry about a spec in your friend's eye when

  94. you have a long in your own? How can you

  95. think of saying to your friend, let me help you

  96. get rid of that spec in your eye when you

  97. can't see past the long in your own eye. Hypocrit

  98. First get rid of the long in your own eye.

  99. Then you will see well enough to deal with a

  100. spec in your friend's eye. Don't waste what is holy

  101. on people who are unholy. Don't throw your pose to pigs.

  102. They will trample the pose, then turn and attack you. Amen.

  103. The Lord best reading of his word, Jesus also got

  104. sense of humor. And actually, imagine again, this is his

  105. words he's preaching. You know, he's talking about the spec

  106. and the log it's supposed to be a a joke

  107. in the Middle East, they will understand what it fully

  108. means about having that log in your eye. And Jesus

  109. uses humor. He also could be a little bit sarcastic,

  110. but I think he meant every word away. No, don't

  111. trow pose to picks. Very very strong words, but important

  112. for us to hear his heart. Uh. And again he

  113. uses the word hippo create. Basically a hippo create. Another

  114. word for hippo create is actually the word actor. It's

  115. a simple word. It's not a bad thing. No, it's

  116. an actor. And back then, how they use the word

  117. hipo created is they usually put on a mask to

  118. pretend to be someone else. That's where the root word

  119. comes from. So you know they have mass and they

  120. go into acting. So hipprocreate basically is someone who is

  121. not being himself, someone who is trying to act to

  122. be someone else. Again, it's not wrong to be an actor.

  123. If any actors here, it's okay. I'm not saying that

  124. you're all hippo creates. In a way, you're just an actor.

  125. You're paid to do it. But as Christians, we are

  126. not called to pretend. We are called to be true actors.

  127. That means that better not just be a movie, better

  128. be a documentary and a reality series of your life. Amen.

  129. So the first question is is judging? What does judging mean?

  130. Because he says do not judge, do not judge or

  131. strong words no, Does this mean that one must never

  132. examine another person? You must never come to a conclusion

  133. about another because that is essentially judging. Is that what

  134. judging is? Do we believe there must be judgment in society?

  135. Do you think there must be judgment in society? Have

  136. you ever thought about this question? Because I believe it

  137. is God's will actually that there is some level of

  138. judgment in society. In Romans chapter thirteen, it's a passage

  139. that we read and we understand, and if you go

  140. and read it, you realize that you say, is this

  141. everyone must submit to governing authorities. Essentially, that's what Romans

  142. Theatin is saying. For all authority comes from God, and

  143. those impositions of authority have been placed there by God.

  144. And so you think about it. The main purpose of

  145. a minister of a state? What do you think the

  146. minister of a state is supposed to do? What do

  147. you think the leaders in a political capacity is supposed

  148. to do. They are supposed to control, they're supposed to restrain,

  149. and they're supposed to punish people who do wrong things

  150. evil to us. You think about it, and it is

  151. quite strange. Actually, if you look at how nations are

  152. being governed, we have slowly switched from justice to welfare. Slowly.

  153. If you study how human history is looking like in

  154. terms of governance human governance, it used to be justice. La.

  155. You know. The government is that you are naught the

  156. pow uh, you're good, you get a reward. Okay, all

  157. well and done. But today we look at states being

  158. more welfare than being or meeting out justice. And it's

  159. strange how this is starting to change now, how we

  160. think primarily of them as the ones who are there

  161. to give us more money, give us more help, give

  162. us more welfare, and make us happy. And that's why

  163. we are constantly not happy with our government because they

  164. don't always do that, because that's not their role and

  165. that is not essentially their function. And then we overlook

  166. the fact that what they are supposed to do is

  167. control evil, to make sure that people don't go around

  168. taking out things when they don't have permission to do so.

  169. They're supposed to be there to maintain some level of

  170. equilibrium in society. And so if God had not appointed

  171. or allowed for governments not appointed and allowed for police,

  172. not appointed and allowed for a justice system where you

  173. actually have a judiciary who's function is to adjudicate, actually

  174. is to judge to a certain extent, society will go bonkers.

  175. You will have anarchy, you will have chaos in society.

  176. And that's why the cabinet ministers are ministers of God

  177. to restrain evil by force. Actually, that is their function,

  178. and they are actually a channel of God's wrath and

  179. anger because God is a just God. He's a God

  180. who is full of justice. But I also believe he's

  181. a merciful God. Yes, And that's where the church ministers

  182. come in. That's where the ministers of God's house comes in,

  183. because both cabinet and church ministers are ordained by God.

  184. You think about it. Church ministers, while they're supposed to

  185. do they are supposed to promote goodbye love. That is

  186. our function, that is our role, to be a channel

  187. of God's grace and mercy. There is a dual function,

  188. but they are both important because you also ask is

  189. there justice in church. Is that judgment within church. If

  190. you read the letters to the Koran Church in First Corinthians,

  191. chapter five, verses twelve on ards, you'll see you know,

  192. he actually says this, you are not to judge outsiders,

  193. but you are to judge those inside the church. That means,

  194. as leaders, there is governance within the church as well,

  195. and you are supposed to be judging them and keeping

  196. them in check. If there is someone who is not

  197. living according to the Gospel, that person should be actually admonish,

  198. trying to help the person change, and it really cannot change. Actually,

  199. the scripture says, then you have to invite him out

  200. of the fellowship. Is actually as strong as that. Of course,

  201. we don't do such things like that today because most

  202. of the time people invite themselves out elsewhere. But back

  203. then they don't talk about changing churches. You know, you're

  204. if you're born there. This is I belong here, ah

  205. and until I get excommunicated. I never heard that term before, right,

  206. but that is what they use to do if really

  207. you keep doing something that's wrong. And so there is

  208. a place for judgment within the church. So what does

  209. this scripture mean when he says do not judge it

  210. means we are not to make ourselves the judge, but

  211. rather we should be the jury. Okay, if you if

  212. you understand legal terms, you think about it. A judge

  213. does something, a jury does something else. What does a

  214. jury do? We don't have We don't have the jury

  215. system here in Malaysia anymore. Some countries they still maintain it.

  216. But what a jury does is to examine, examine, not

  217. to sentence, not to condemn. That is the role of

  218. the judge. So the word judge actually means this to condemn,

  219. to write off, or to sentence to punish, And therefore

  220. judging actually refers to basically a very critical attitude of

  221. always writing people off. And this is not a Christian value.

  222. This is the part that we've got to be careful

  223. not to do writing people off. I meanst we see

  224. somebody like I hear this all day, ever ever come

  225. ever done that before? Basically it means a lowy, this person,

  226. this guy is beyond salvation, beyond redemption. Sometimes we are

  227. like that. Right. It definitely does not mean that we

  228. are never to examine or assess people, because to examine

  229. means that to weigh out, to balance all the facts together.

  230. We got to be able to do that. And this

  231. is the exact reason why Jesus in a few verses

  232. after that, says, beware of false prophets, because even that

  233. statement can sound very judgmental. Beware of false prophets. How

  234. do you determine if a person is a false prophet?

  235. If you say, hey, Jesus, you say, don't judge, why

  236. try judge whether the person is No, he says, don't judge,

  237. don't write people off. But he didn't say don't examine,

  238. don't weigh things out, because that is a very important

  239. faculty that we still have and we still maintain. If

  240. do not judge means are I can't even write reference

  241. letters doctor Daniel? Who can I write reference letters for

  242. people who have worked under him before? Because essentially, what

  243. we are going to be writing down a judgment of

  244. the person's character if we take it too literally. But

  245. when we write reference letters, what we're doing we are

  246. actually weighing out the person's behavior and attitude while the

  247. person was working for us, and then we are making

  248. that known to the next employer. Right, So let's be careful.

  249. That is a clear distinction. How are we to be

  250. careful of false profits? If we are never to examine

  251. and assess another person's life, well we need that, we

  252. need to continue to assess and discern. And so judging

  253. is just this. Judging is the attitude of condemning everyone

  254. and everything too easily. That we must not do that,

  255. we must not practice. It means that you are deciding,

  256. like I say, just now, that someone is beyond redemption.

  257. Sometimes we do that. We go into certain communities, We're like, oh, yeah,

  258. that one cannot safe ready, so I think we just

  259. bypass or the one the laws that say that we

  260. shouldn't touch them, I think we should just let them

  261. be bypassed. That is actually a form of judgment, because

  262. we are saying that people have no hope and we

  263. can't do anything with that person. We are writing the

  264. person or because only God has the right to do

  265. something like that. Only God has the right to be

  266. such a judge. And the reminder and the warning here

  267. is one of the most frightening things that Jesus has

  268. ever said, because he says, with what measure you judge,

  269. you shall be judged very strong words. In other words,

  270. on the day of judgment, when one stands before Jesus

  271. as our judge, all Jesus has to do is playback

  272. a recording of the faults we have found in other people.

  273. And that's going to be challenging because really, the things

  274. that go on in my head about other people sometimes

  275. so I'm ashamed to admit. No, we all like love Ningers.

  276. Ninger never wholesome. Right, it is judgment. Don't write people

  277. off because we will be judged by that standard by

  278. God ourselves. And can any of us actually stand before

  279. God if that is how He's going to judge, because

  280. we all know that we have condemned people in our hearts.

  281. And this is where we've got to be very very careful.

  282. Don't write people off. Instead, help each other to remain

  283. in Christ. Help each other to remain in Christ because

  284. He is still right now, activated and acting as our savior.

  285. He has not come yet his second coming. He will

  286. come as an adjudicator. He will come to judge. But

  287. right now, everyone who has wrong and sin in our lives,

  288. we are crying out for Jesus to come to save us,

  289. and that's what we are supposed to do. We are

  290. responsible to share this good news. We are not responsible

  291. for people's response to the good news. We are responsible

  292. to share it and not decide on who gets to

  293. hear it and who gets not to hear it. Don't

  294. judge in that sense, and let us not decide if

  295. someone does not deserve to hear the gospel, because really

  296. that is a form of hypocrisy. We are just called

  297. to share it, and the truth is everyone should hear

  298. it unless they themselves refuse to listen no matter what. Sometimes, yes,

  299. after people hearing it, I don't want to do anything.

  300. That's why the scriptures actually say, then don't keep throwing

  301. buls to swine because it will be like an activity

  302. that is completely futile. But don't stop. Don't think that

  303. all just because I don't like this person's face. Don't

  304. need share and move on just because I think this

  305. one will reject me or I can't deal with rejection. Okay,

  306. move on. Don't share unless they have said I don't

  307. want to have anything to do with this. So this

  308. is the first test of true discipleship. Do we practice

  309. humility and humble ourselves to share and witness God's goodness?

  310. That's essentially what we are doing. No, if again, you

  311. want to put in terms of a legal setting, we

  312. are sitting on the witness dot, and we are testifying

  313. of how good God has been in our lives. That

  314. is us functioning as a witness telling people around us

  315. that God is good. And I want you to know

  316. that He is good, and that is important for us

  317. to do. All. Are we hypocrates who go around just

  318. being glad that we are safe and not wanting to

  319. share with others. We've got to be very careful how

  320. we live our lives. Amen. Okay, if we desire to

  321. follow Jesus, if we are willing to express our desire,

  322. the next part tells us this, He is willing to

  323. grant us the deseas of our hearts. Because many are times,

  324. you know, even a statement like do not judge, it's

  325. hard to actually do how to live our lives not judging,

  326. because we are very critical people. We are just human beings.

  327. If you know, I think Bustard has used this example. No,

  328. I give you a blank shit, a white shit, peo

  329. and nice, and I just put one small black dot

  330. in the middle. All our focus and all our attention

  331. will be on the black dot. It will not be

  332. on the white because again, we are naturally critical. And

  333. I pray that we continue to desire to follow Jesus,

  334. because if Jesus was critical and all he saw was

  335. our fault, we won't be here today. We won't be

  336. here today. That's the reality of it. And so he

  337. goes on to say this verse seven, keep on asking

  338. and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on

  339. seeking and you're fine. Keep on knocking and the door

  340. will be open to you again. I'm just reading it chronologically.

  341. For everyone who asks receives, everyone who seeks fines, and

  342. to everyone who knocks, the door will be open. You parents,

  343. if your children ask for a loaf of brain, do

  344. you give them a stone instead? Or if they ask

  345. for a fish, do you give them a snake? Of

  346. course not so. If you sinfle people know how to

  347. give good gifts to your heaven, to your children, how

  348. much more will your heavenly father give good gifts to

  349. those who ask him? And the principle here is simple.

  350. We've got to keep persisting in prayer. There's nothing else

  351. for me to add to this. Persist in prayer. The

  352. literal transition, the translation of it is, I've shared this before.

  353. It is basically, go on asking and you receive. You

  354. have to put on the go on, go on asking

  355. them is don't ask one time, only go on seeking

  356. and you were fine. Go on knocking and you will

  357. be open to you. Well, the problem with a lot

  358. of us is we ask one time, no answer, we

  359. move on. We knock one time, no one opened the door,

  360. We move on. We sought once and found nothing, and

  361. then we move on elsewhere. But that is not what

  362. the scripture here is saying. Because the scripture here is

  363. actually written in a continuous sence. The verb is continuous.

  364. That means we have to carry on doing it. Luke eighteen,

  365. we read the parable of the persistent widow. Anyone remembered

  366. that parable? Simple parable? There was this judge. He was

  367. asleep in his house, and then came this widow, and

  368. she was persistent because she was knocking at his door,

  369. just knocking and knocking and knocking, continuously, banging on his

  370. front door until he sort of drove him crazy. And

  371. then he eventually he went down and he acceded, He

  372. gave in to her requests. If an unjust judge responded

  373. to the persistence of a widow, how much more do

  374. you think a generous God will respond to those who

  375. go on asking? God responded to persistent nagging. Actually, if

  376. you think about it, that's how I would like to

  377. look at my prayer life. It's okay, I know, I'm honestly.

  378. I write down prayers one and I pray until something happens.

  379. If nothing happens for twenty years, then that thing is

  380. still on the prayer list, and we keep praying. We

  381. keep praying. Why stop keep nagging on God and saying, God,

  382. I'm believing for you, I'm believing for the salvation of

  383. my family members. Yes, that person was so difficult, the

  384. person I grew up with. I mean, it's the same. No,

  385. I always share this story about my dad. I always

  386. thought my dad would be the last person on earth

  387. to actually respond to the Gospel because he was just

  388. a hard man, a hard man, and you talk to

  389. him anything about Christianity, it triggers him. He just becomes

  390. angry until a point of time. I also, like Mota Cow,

  391. I came to this point of my life that you

  392. can all be safely life or the salvation in this

  393. world as well. Can I help you? But I'm glad.

  394. I'm glad that the Lord reminded me don't ever stop praying,

  395. because yeah, I think after twenty years of prayer. He

  396. eventually gave his life to Christ uh and we rejoice

  397. in that. But remember persistent prayer. It's so important if you, then,

  398. being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children.

  399. How much more will your father, who is in heaven

  400. give good gifts to those who not ask him one time,

  401. but those who ask him and carry on asking him.

  402. So this is where I want to encourage all of us.

  403. Continue to be that first in your prayer. Amen. And

  404. then now he moves on again, moving on back. Then

  405. I read the scriptures. Don't think that they are hatings

  406. or no haters one no, he there's no foods this

  407. on now, this is our Bible. Got hated there? Now

  408. the next heater is the Golden Rule. Verse twelve is

  409. the Golden Rule. But he moved on from knocking, seeking

  410. and austraight away. Do to others whatever you would like

  411. them to do to you. This is the essence of

  412. all that is taught in the law and the prophets.

  413. I'm not sure I'm trying to imagine how Jesus was

  414. presenting this sermon by I don't think he paused. I

  415. don't think he say okay, talk a new chapter, new

  416. head the norm. I think he just went on. He

  417. just went on. And I thank god for people who

  418. had no books back then, because they wrote all these

  419. things down, and hallelujah. Today we have the scriptures with us.

  420. By nature, we think negatively about our responsibility to one another.

  421. That's usually how we think. We always think about this

  422. when we think about some one else. I've never done

  423. anyone no harm. It's always in a negative. I've never

  424. done anyone any harm in their lives. So it's usually

  425. the negative. But here it's actually in the positive. It's

  426. not so much don't do what you don't wish others

  427. to do to you. The reality is the Lord is

  428. actually interested in what we have done that is good,

  429. not what we have not done, which we like to emphasize.

  430. I didn't do this person anything. What this person come

  431. and hurt me, I didn't do anything wrong with him.

  432. You know, we always think in the negative, but the

  433. Lord actually wants us to think about the good that

  434. we have done to others, and that is always in

  435. the positive positive. Love your neighbor as yourself, And this

  436. is the law and what the Prophet's taught. Love your

  437. neighbor as yourself. It is always in the positive. If

  438. we are not cares, we will naturally think about ourselves.

  439. I have not done anyone any harm. But if we

  440. allow God's rules to operate in our lives, then we

  441. realize that Jesus is actually teaching us to look beyond

  442. ourselves and to care for others. Do something for others,

  443. not about yourself, but do something for others. And these

  444. commands sums up how God wants us to treat people,

  445. not based on our personal likes or dislikes. It is

  446. based on what is loving and right. That means his

  447. focused on what the right thing to do, is not

  448. so much what your preference is. And I think it's

  449. an important thing. Again when we think about it, what

  450. is he teaching don't put ourselves first because it is

  451. very very selfish in basa, it's easier to understand it

  452. says young and punting. Don't prioritize yourself. There's no selfish

  453. the words selfish in basa. I don't think that's such thing.

  454. If there is, someone tell me it's just don't prioritize yourself.

  455. It has to be sort of mentioned in the whole statement. Amen,

  456. And so continue to focus on what is loving and right.

  457. That is the golden rule. Essentially. Amen, Now we look

  458. at the mystics that we can make. See I told

  459. you we are going like woh, by the way the

  460. Lord thought is it feels so truncated, but it's not

  461. because it all adds up to something. Now, let's look

  462. at some of the mystics we can make in discipleship.

  463. All this is talking about discipleship because Jesus is actually preaching.

  464. He's preaching to the people. He's telling them, Look, this

  465. is the way to live in my kingdom. This is

  466. how I want my subjects to live their lives. And

  467. so it is very important for us to understand. And

  468. now as we draw to an end of the Sermon

  469. on the Mound, there is a series of warnings and

  470. also and appeal to make the right choices. Okay, I

  471. will explain it. Okay, because Jesus now starts to preach

  472. about a few things. But essentially you will see him

  473. talking about two roads, two trees, and two houses. Okay,

  474. two roads, two trees, two houses. Let's start verse thirteen

  475. of chapter seven. He says this, you can enter God's

  476. kingdom only through the narrow gate, the highway to Hell

  477. is broad, and its gate is wide for the many

  478. who choose that way. But the gateway to life is

  479. very narrow, and the road is difficult, and only a

  480. few ever find it. This is the two roads that

  481. he's talking about. Now, he goes on to talk about

  482. the two trees. Beware of false prophets who come These

  483. guys as harmless sheep, but are really vicious wolves. You

  484. can identify them by their fruit, that is, by the

  485. way they act. Can you pick grapes from torn bushes,

  486. of fixed from teasels. A good tree produces good fruit,

  487. and a bad tree produces bad fruit. A good tree

  488. can't produce bad fruit, and a bad tree can't produce

  489. good fruit. So every tree that does not produce good

  490. fruit is chopped down and thrown into the fire. Yes,

  491. just as you can identify a tree by its fruit,

  492. so you can identify people by their actions. Not everyone

  493. who calls out to me, Lord Lord, will enter the

  494. Kingdom of heaven. Only those who actually do the will

  495. of my father in Heaven will enter. On judgment day,

  496. many will say to me, Lord Lord, we prophesied in

  497. your name, and cast out demons in your name, and

  498. perform Many miracles in your name. But I will reply,

  499. I never knew you. Get away from me, you who

  500. break God's laws. And then now he talks about two houses.

  501. Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise.

  502. Like a person who builds a house on solid rock.

  503. Though the rain comes in torrents and the flat waters rise,

  504. and the winds beat against that house, it won't collapse

  505. because it is built on bait rock. But anyone who

  506. hears my teaching and doesn't obey it is foolish, like

  507. a person who builds a house on sand. When the

  508. rain and floods come and the winds beat against the house,

  509. it will collapse with a mighty crash. When Jesus had

  510. finished saying these things, the crowds were amazed at his teaching,

  511. for he taught with real authority, quite unlike their teachers

  512. of religious law. The Lord bless the reading of his

  513. word and the preaching of his sermon. That is, I

  514. can just read the entire sermon on the mouth, and

  515. I believe we are blessed. But firstly, let's study some

  516. of these things. The warning, So all these warnings that

  517. Jesus is highlighting, and Jesus says that if you look

  518. at the roads that he is asking you to compare. Hey, again,

  519. the first thing he talked about was two roads. He says,

  520. if you compare the roads, that you will end up

  521. making the wrong choice. That's what he's essentially saying, because

  522. he says that, look at the road to hell. It's nice, nice,

  523. and that's what his warning is is nice and wide.

  524. You can take a lot of luggage with you on

  525. this road. You can take a lot of broad minded

  526. ideas with you. No steep hills, no sharp bends, easy road.

  527. In fact, if you want lots of company, this is

  528. the road to go as well. It's in the scripture.

  529. I'm not making this up. You read it slowly, you'll

  530. see it. It's a road that is full if you

  531. want to walk. We've reached people, nice people, clevel people,

  532. rational people, e look on people, happy people, even good people.

  533. Most of them are on this road. The other road

  534. that leads to heaven is not very attractive. It is

  535. actually narrow, and you have got to leave behind your scenes.

  536. Very hard. Right. Sometimes for us to do that we

  537. say easy, but actually easiest it than done. That's the

  538. reality of it. You may have to live behind your friends, family,

  539. though you will want to try to bring them all

  540. with you, and that is our desire, that should be

  541. our desire. You have to leave behind a lot of

  542. your ideas, a lot of the way you think, and

  543. a lot of things that you think is right. You

  544. got to leave it behind. But this narrow road leads

  545. to life. This is like Abraham not given the choice

  546. at eighty years old, stay and remain in my nine

  547. two story bungalow or head out into the wilderness and

  548. hang out in tents. Abraham is the father of faith

  549. for reasons that we can never fully fat him. But

  550. he did not stay and enjoy his nice, big, two

  551. story bungalow because we know he moved away from where

  552. was he from of the Chaldean He moved away into

  553. the wilderness and living in a tent with so much uncertainties.

  554. It is hard to be a Christian. I'm not saying

  555. it's easy, because the entrance fee is nothing free, but

  556. the annual subscription is everything. There is the reality of it.

  557. You think about it, you think, no prize to pay,

  558. God price to pay, God price to pay, but entrance

  559. fee free. That is God's grace. Hallelujah. Praise God, because

  560. if God were to charge for the entrance fee, none

  561. of us would have made it. None of us would

  562. have made it, We would not be able to cover

  563. up our sins. It is only His righteousness, through His

  564. grace that we are safe. But after that the journey

  565. we have to walk. And this is why the road

  566. is sometimes empty. You may be the only Christian in

  567. your place of work, ever felt like that before. You

  568. may be the only Christian in your schools, in your classroom.

  569. It's a lonely road, and a lot of Christians have

  570. to face that you have Christ, but you don't have

  571. many others, and you are a minority, and many Christians

  572. are actually very lonely. It's actually the only religion in

  573. the world that you cannot be born into one you

  574. think about it, because we all need to be born

  575. again one. No one can say that I'm born into

  576. a Christian family. What does that mean? Because all of

  577. us need to be born again and then only we

  578. are part of the family. And that is also one

  579. of the reasons why there are so few of us.

  580. We can't claim that everyone's born into this house, so

  581. we're all moving the same direction. Known that's the reality

  582. of it. Of course, the real difference is ultimately the destination,

  583. and we need to know which road we are going

  584. to walk on, because one leads to destruction, the other

  585. one leads to life. Christianity is the way to life

  586. as well as a way of life. Very very important

  587. for us to remember that two roads. Again, Remember what

  588. Jesus is saying, don't just compare it blindly, because if

  589. you compare it blindly, you will make the wrong choice.

  590. That's the warning that he's telling us here. Now we

  591. come to the second warning again, not do men gloommen

  592. because all of us you have to remember this, and

  593. this is the beauty of being a believer. We have

  594. a choice. We have a choice. Once upon a time,

  595. none of us had this choice, because all of us

  596. we are heading down the path of destruction. That is

  597. the reality of it. But when we receive God's saving

  598. grace upon our lives again we are all saved by grace,

  599. true faith, then another road opens up. But can still

  600. make the choice one. And yes, there are people who

  601. continue on the path in which they were used to

  602. instead of choosing the right path. But we have a choice,

  603. So rejoice in the fact that we have a choice,

  604. because now moving on from two roads, you get two trees.

  605. The second warning, and the second warning is basically about

  606. guides in our life. Okay, what do I mean by this? Well,

  607. we all need a guide in life, but there is

  608. always a danger that you find the wrong guide, find

  609. the wrong guy, and I'm in the wrong place. That

  610. is the danger that is being worn here to the

  611. believers because from the very beginning of God's revelation of

  612. his word to men that are always there have always

  613. been prophets. There have always been people that God has

  614. spoken to and release his word, and then he has

  615. gotten them to guide his people. And here is where

  616. Jesus is actually just warning his people be careful of

  617. false prophets, because what he's essentially saying is identifying them

  618. is not easy. It's difficult, first of all because of

  619. their teaching. And this is the reality of it. False prophets,

  620. sometimes we think, are people who teach wrong stuff. We

  621. always think, ah, this one say ajar sasa, okay in basa,

  622. that simply just means this person is just falling teaching

  623. all the wrong doctrines. No, you know that they usually

  624. say all the nice things that sound very right. They

  625. cry peace when there is no peace. They talk of heaven,

  626. but sometimes they don't talk about hell. They talk about

  627. God's pardon, but they don't talk about his punishment. They

  628. talk about his mercy, but sometimes they read whole things

  629. about his justice. So usually a false prophet does not

  630. tell a lie. He tells half the truth, and that

  631. is as bad as a lie. And that is why

  632. it's actually so difficult to spot a false profit very hard.

  633. Sometimes we are like, oh, you know, follow this on,

  634. follow this person, follow this. It requires a lot of analysis,

  635. a lot of examining, not judging, but a lot of examining,

  636. a lot of discernment. And you cannot tell him from

  637. his appearance. You think about it, because his appearance is

  638. like one of the flock. He looks like me and you.

  639. Even in Revelation we know the devil will come as

  640. an angel of light. What more do you think his

  641. agents will look like? The Antichrist will have the appearance

  642. of a lamb. Actually, in revelations, that's what is stated.

  643. And so how very easy it is for us to

  644. be misled by someone who behaves as a very caring shepherd,

  645. as someone who is there to help us. But you

  646. will be able to tell the difference by his distortion

  647. of the truth that usually leads people astray. This is

  648. where we have to be very, very very careful, because

  649. he will do wonders and science, but by his own

  650. ability in God's reality. Power is in the name of Jesus,

  651. not in the prophet, and we need to remember that.

  652. And in these days it is so important for us

  653. to discern and test all these things because there are

  654. counterfeit things happening everywhere, and we need to discern. We

  655. need the Holy Spirit to discern lest we be led

  656. away by false prophets and false teachings. And it can

  657. sound really nice. And the only real test of a

  658. prophet is the fruit that he bears. That is what

  659. the two Trees essentially is talking about. You got to

  660. check the person's character the fruit of the spirit. Is

  661. it evident in this person's life. A true prophet helps

  662. to attach people to the Lord and to his house

  663. and to his church. That is a good test. A

  664. true prophet does not attach people to him. It's dangerous

  665. if you get followers of myself. You're supposed to get

  666. people to follow Rise. That's important. And so the question

  667. is does he leave people nearer to the Lord and

  668. more dependent on the Lord, or does he simply attract

  669. his own followers and fans to follow him. Check that,

  670. go back read the scriptures. You all need to do this.

  671. It's very important because in this day and age, I

  672. kid you not, things will tickle your ears. It will

  673. be nice to hear people will say all the right things.

  674. Especially you know, I really do believe we are living

  675. in letter lettered let the letter era. Okay, I don't

  676. know how soon, but there are signs, there are science

  677. is there, and we've got to be aware of some

  678. of these signs. And you know, when everything is in

  679. chaos and someone comes and offers peace, be careful because

  680. I am of the belief that before anything can be good,

  681. it's got to be bad first. That is what the scriptures.

  682. If you read and you study revelation, before anything can

  683. be good, you will go through a rough time first.

  684. And again, read the scriptures and make the scriptures prepare

  685. us to be able to identify, to discern together as

  686. a family, we can also do that. It's very important.

  687. The two trees. And then now Jesus finishes his sermon

  688. with the illustration of two houses. Okay, so again, I

  689. mentioned two roads, two trees, two houses, and now how

  690. do we build these houses? Basically, this is talking about choice.

  691. So Jesus is teaching us that when you listen to preaching,

  692. you are building something as you listen he's talking about Basically,

  693. he's summing up his entire sermon on the Mouth. He says,

  694. if you enjoy a sermon, you are moved by it,

  695. but then you go away you do nothing about it.

  696. You will have built a structure, or you have built

  697. a life that looks nice on the outside. On the surface,

  698. you can look very Christian if you just listen and

  699. do nothing about it. But then when the trials come,

  700. when the crisis come, when the challenges come, your Christian

  701. life will collapse because you have no foundation in the rock.

  702. That is what he's essentially saying. But if you listen

  703. to the sermon, you listen to God's word, and then

  704. you go away and you do something about it. You

  705. apply every time you are applying God's word in your life. Essentially,

  706. what you're doing is you are digging deep, and the

  707. deeper you dig, you will eventually arrive at what is

  708. known as the bait rock. That is the hardest rock

  709. in the soil. That is where we are to build,

  710. because that is where God is. You keep praying even

  711. though God is silent. That is my encouragement to you.

  712. Keep reading His word even in the most challenging of

  713. times and moments in your life. Because sometimes we are

  714. like that, right, nothing happens, and then we are frustrated,

  715. and then we stop, and then we give up, and

  716. then we start playing the blame game. God, why are

  717. you like that? But He says, keep on building. Don't

  718. stop even in the most challenging moments in your life.

  719. Continue to claim God's promises, which are yes and Amen.

  720. Even if your heart desires don't come to pass right

  721. before your very eyes, continue to whole state fast to

  722. the Giver of life. Then your Christian life will stand firm,

  723. regardless of the crisis that you may be facing. I

  724. believe in this with all my heart. Really, I know

  725. I can't compare myself to how you are living your

  726. lives and how and what you are going through. Everyone

  727. has got their journey, but I've lived long enough to

  728. realize that whatever it is, don't let go of our

  729. hope of glory, don't let go of Christ. It's so

  730. important for us to remember that the band and come up.

  731. I'm almost done. You see, this is the true test

  732. of discipleship before God, to listen to his word and

  733. then to do something about it. So let's sum up

  734. the last part of Jesus's sermon on the mound. Let's

  735. summon it all up. He's essentially saying this, in your

  736. relationship with others, be concerned for your enemies and refrain

  737. from writing off your friends. Do not judge. Love your

  738. enemies strong. Not the easiest things to do, but really

  739. it will do you a work of wonders if you

  740. learn how to forgive. Basically, the only way you can

  741. love your enemies is if you forgive them. I can't

  742. think of any other ways. Well, what Jesus, love your enemy?

  743. What's the secret to that? No people who keep hating

  744. us or No. Naturally, I don't know how to love

  745. the person as well. The only way is to forgive

  746. the person. That's how I look at it. Don't write

  747. off your friends, don't judge people, don't see this person

  748. has got no hope. Don't do that. Our life is

  749. to bear the fruit that comes from having roots and

  750. having a foundation in the row. We need to keep

  751. building deep, and it has been said that the sermon

  752. is actually a mirror to show us for who we are.

  753. Sometimes it shows all out dirt when we hear a sermon,

  754. and it can be painful, it can be strong because

  755. it's essentially it's like a reflection and we are seeing

  756. all our shortcomings. And it leaves us in a dilemma

  757. because when I read through the life and the teachings

  758. of Christ, I know what is right. That is the

  759. difficult thing. Right. Sometimes knowing the right thing, some people say,

  760. I rather you do not tell me the right thing.

  761. At least I don't have to make the right choice,

  762. because making the right choice is always hard. It's always challenging.

  763. But we need to know. If not, we are all

  764. we only have one or no choice. The thing is,

  765. we have a choice right now, and we have been

  766. introduced to what is right, the right thing. I know

  767. what is right. I know this is the truth. I

  768. know this is the way. I know this is a life.

  769. But sometimes I just can't choose that. I don't know how.

  770. I just can't do it. It's so difficult, it's so challenging.

  771. That is why we all need a savior. Jesus came

  772. to save us from our sins. We all need a savior,

  773. and we can only live like this when Jesus himself

  774. has forgiven us our sins, and he then begins his

  775. work in our hearts, and then he begins to live

  776. in our lives, and then he begins to take over

  777. how we live our lives as well, because we allow

  778. him to. That in itself is a choice, not always

  779. the easiest choice to make. To say, Jesus take the wheel.

  780. I know Carrier Underwood sung it, and we all agree,

  781. but sometimes it's not easy to let Jesus take the wheel.

  782. But it's not easy if you think he's going to

  783. crash the car for you. Right, you're really think Jesus

  784. is going to crash the car for you. I don't

  785. think so because you think about it. For all the

  786. good things we have read in these passages, all of

  787. them are perfectly true. About the preacher, Jesus is someone

  788. who practices what he preaches. Because as the people spat

  789. on him, whipped him, mocked him, laughed at him, nailed

  790. him to a block of wood, remember what he said,

  791. he said, his father, forgive them, for they know not

  792. what they do. Jesus could have caught down fire and

  793. brimstone and rained all of hell over them. He did

  794. not do such things. He didn't write them off, and

  795. then hallelujah. Not long after that, one of the earliest

  796. Christian martyrs was strn to death, and as he was

  797. being stoned to death, he showed that he now could

  798. live the Sermon on the Mound because Stephen, before breathing

  799. his last said these words, as well, Lord, lay not

  800. this sain on their charge. Lord, don't put it upon them,

  801. because basically they don't know better as well, even though

  802. they are stoning me and killing me right now, it

  803. is possible to live like this, but not by yourself.

  804. You will only do it with Jesus. And this is

  805. the Sermon on the Mound. This is what the sermon

  806. essentially is. Jesus preached as one who had authority. It

  807. was the word of God that he spoke, and the

  808. beauty of it is he was the word of God.

  809. That's what a man when he says that I am

  810. the Logos, I am the Word, and I am not

  811. just going to leave with you a bunch of words.

  812. I'm going to live with you an example of how

  813. to live.

  814. We hope you've been blessed by this message. For more

  815. information on our church, please visit as church org. We

  816. are also active on Facebook and Instagram. We're believing that

  817. this week is going to be a good week. I

  818. hit for you. God bless
