  1. You're listening to a message to go from acts church.

  2. We hope this message will light up your day.

  3. The Lord of trouble world within me and to say that,

  4. you know, there are these three elements of in the

  5. church that needs to exist and this and it comes

  6. in three piece, you know. And the three pieces people,

  7. presence and power. We shall go deeper. So people, presence

  8. and power. So that's how the Lord speaks to me,

  9. you know. You know, as I prepare the message on

  10. a week sometimes I'm driving and then the thought just

  11. comes and then I know that it's from the Lord.

  12. I sometimes I have to park my car right down first,

  13. got driving, you know. And so you know, that's how

  14. the Lord speaks to some of us. And so I'm

  15. just gonna go deeper as I as I studied and unpacked,

  16. I pray that you'll be blessed this morning. And then okay,

  17. so let me begin by saying. The word church in

  18. Greek is ecclesia. Okay, some of you may be very

  19. familiar with this. For the longest time of a day.

  20. You know that a church, the Greek word is ecclesia,

  21. and it means a gathering or an assembly or a

  22. call out once. Okay, So if you've been in church

  23. long enough, you'll know that church is not a building, right,

  24. It's not a building. You know, if it really was

  25. a building, if you burned a building out in the

  26. church will not exists.

  27. But that's not the case.

  28. That is why we are doing something called worship at

  29. homes this this year. Actually we do it every year, alaha,

  30. every year we do it, and I'm sure your homes

  31. eider may have explained it to you.

  32. It's called a fire drill. We call it a fire drill.

  33. Why, because we believe that the church is really the people.

  34. Did you get that the church is the people? So

  35. we don't exactly We don't to be confined by a

  36. single building or space that we need to meet here, okay,

  37. because the day may come, the day may come that

  38. you and I can no longer meet in this kind

  39. of place, in this guy setting. Right, Let's just say,

  40. like when COVID happened, you could only travel I don't

  41. know how how many meters?

  42. Uh, let's say, what's a honey comedy? Clumeters?

  43. They say, I don't know, five clumbters, radios, I don't know,

  44. thanks clumb the radios. Let's say, and you can no

  45. longer travel to church as a physical building. You can

  46. no longer go to a physical building to worship. Like this,

  47. what do you do? Just get to your neighbors, right,

  48. Just get to your neighbors and friends. That is where

  49. church is. Because the church is the people. It's not

  50. a building. It's the people. And in fact, in those

  51. early early days, the early days of church, right, there

  52. was so much persecution, right that churches actually met in homes.

  53. You know, they met in they meant houses. And they're

  54. still a church. Right.

  55. You don't executly need a physical building ideas, although yes,

  56. there are benefits of meeting ideas in unity. You know

  57. that there's benefit to that, and that's good, you know,

  58. as the Lord is here and he ministers to us

  59. as a church. About all I'm trying to say is

  60. that we're not confined by a space or a building.

  61. Remember that, okay, And to have you remember that in

  62. the word church, ce h, you are c H right

  63. in the middle is the two letters you are, So

  64. you are the church. Remember that said to you, neebor,

  65. you are the church because it's the people that mix

  66. up the church.

  67. Amen. So Romans sixteen to five I.

  68. You know, there's this one verse in the Bible in

  69. Romans sixteen five that say, it's likewise, create the church

  70. that is in their house. You see the word create

  71. the church that is in their house. Now, if the

  72. church really was the building, this is a this is

  73. a bad englander, you know, it's it's a grammatically wrong.

  74. If the church really was a building, this is wrong.

  75. Okay.

  76. But clearly when you read this verse, likewise, greet the

  77. church that is in the house. They didn't even say

  78. the house. No, it is in the house. Let me, sister, people,

  79. the church is living. It's the people, it's the people

  80. of God together, and that is what the church is.

  81. And Christ is the head of the Church. We the Church,

  82. we are the body of Christ. Somebody say, amen, So

  83. Christ is the head of the Church, and we are

  84. the body of Christ. If you need a scripture for that,

  85. Ephesians one twenty two to twenty three. And he put

  86. all things under his feet and gave him, gave him Christ,

  87. gave him to be the head over all things to

  88. the Church, which is his body. So we you and

  89. I the Church, we are his body, the fullness of

  90. Him who feels all in all.

  91. Amen.

  92. So we are the church the people. That's my first point,

  93. p people. So now let's look to the main passage

  94. that I was drawn to that's found in the Book

  95. of Acts X chapter two.

  96. Okay.

  97. So if you have your bibles, I encourage you to

  98. bring a Bible to church so that we can flip

  99. the pages together. X chapter two, verse let me see

  100. verse forty. Okay, X Chapter two, verse forty.

  101. Rights.

  102. As you're turning, I hope that you've been joining us

  103. on this forty days of prayer and fast along with

  104. this necf fair and fast and also an ex church.

  105. We are also reading the Book of.

  106. X for these forty days, uh, and we will finish

  107. the Book of Acts, you know, in these forty days.

  108. So I pray that you will also join us and

  109. read the entire of the Book of X. Because act

  110. Church got the name from the Book of X. So

  111. we need to see how the early churches used to

  112. live and how they you know, they praise and where

  113. you got so X chapter two, verse forty okay. And

  114. the title of my passition my Bible artists. Sometimes the

  115. writer's add the peer of title. It says a writer

  116. church grows okay, Verse forty says, and with many other words.

  117. He testified and exhorted them, saying, be saved from this

  118. perverse generation. Let me stop that for a while. This

  119. was Peter the he refers to Peter. Okay, I'll give

  120. you the context of the story. This was on the

  121. day of Pentecost, and Pentecost actually stands for fifty panther fifty. Okay,

  122. So the fiftieth day after Passover, or in this case

  123. we call it the Easter fifty fiftieth day after Easter.

  124. That's where the promise of the Holy Spirit was given. Okay.

  125. And so the back god of the story, to help

  126. you give you some context, is that they were speaking

  127. in tongues, okay, tongues of understanding. They miss they miss language, okay,

  128. not just not not the spiritual tongues that we say

  129. unto the Lord, that we pray unto the Lord, or

  130. singing unto the Lord.

  131. These tongues is language people understand, okay.

  132. So there were many people gathering that in Jerusalem at

  133. the time, and they heard them praising God in their

  134. own language.

  135. There was a tongue okay.

  136. And then so they thought they were drunk, and Peter

  137. stood up and gave a sermon, So Peter preached, okay.

  138. And after Peter preached.

  139. Then we get to this verse in verse forty are

  140. follow me okay? So this heverse to Peter and the

  141. disciples are basically okay. So he says, and in many

  142. other words he testified and exalted them, saying, be saved

  143. from this perverse generation. Then those who gladly received his

  144. word were baptized, and that they about three thousand souls

  145. were added to them.

  146. Wow, where's the Lord? Three thousand?

  147. And they continued steadfastly in the apostle's doctrine and fellowship,

  148. in the breaking up bread, which we did just now,

  149. and in prayers.

  150. Man.

  151. Then fear came upon every soul, and many wonders and

  152. signs were done through the apostles. Now all who believed

  153. were together and had all things in common, and sold

  154. their possessions and goods and divided them among all as

  155. anyone can need. So continuing daily, we want a court

  156. in the temple, and breaking bread from.

  157. House to house. There go house to house.

  158. They ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart,

  159. praising God and having favor with all the people. And

  160. the Lord added to the church daily those who were

  161. being saved. Amen, the Lord bless the reading of his word.

  162. And so we consider that the Lord added daily to

  163. his church those who are being saved, and salvation truly

  164. belongs to the Lord a man. It is him who

  165. really changes heart and transforms heart. All we need to

  166. do is just to preach the gospel, preach Jesus and

  167. is the work of the Holy Spirit. So we can

  168. see in this potional scripture that there were people who

  169. were gathered. Okay, Actually, if you read verse one, you know,

  170. if you actually read verse one, it says the day

  171. of Pentacosts had fully come. They were all within, they

  172. were all with one accord in one place.

  173. Okay.

  174. And when they're all together in unity, the Bible actually

  175. tells us that God commands a blessing when there is unity.

  176. You know, how good is evens and doll together in unity,

  177. you know, for the Lord commander of blessing. And we

  178. can see that the people were involved. You know, they

  179. continue to steadfastly in the pastus, doctrine and fellowship.

  180. So when I read the verse.

  181. Clearly, we can tell that when we come to church,

  182. we're not meant to just be there to check an

  183. attendance list. And by the way, I don't take attendance. Okay,

  184. don't take attendance. But we're not there to take attendance. Okay,

  185. We're not there to be pill warmers. I say pill

  186. warmos because the church I used to attend back home,

  187. in my hometown, traditional church, there have pills. I'm not

  188. sure there's some of you younger ones know that. Not okay, okay,

  189. you go and google. Okay, those long chairs, I wouldn't

  190. long chairs. Okay, so we're not We're not called to

  191. be pill warmers, or we're not called to be seat warmers.

  192. I know the chair, the qushions were comfortable, but we're

  193. not men to warm just the chairs. We're not ment

  194. to just check in attendance. We are caught to be

  195. disciples because when I read the scripture this verse, clearly

  196. they continue steadfastly in the apostles, doctrine, and fellowship, and

  197. the Bible actually tells us to make disciples of all nations.

  198. So clearly we are not called to just have to

  199. just be believers, but to be disciples. And if you've

  200. been in church for long enough this year, you hurt

  201. us preach by discipleship time and time again.

  202. I'm not going to go there again.

  203. But really, as disciples, we are called to be devoted,

  204. you know, committed to the Lord and building the House

  205. of God together and ready to be mobilized. So I

  206. pray it every single person Exchang will continue to be

  207. disciples that you will say yes to to discipleship. You know,

  208. you'll say yes to being submitted, to the leadership, to

  209. the vision, to the directions of the house. Uh, and

  210. to run readers, you know, to build God's House and

  211. his kingdom and then all day uh. In acts, we

  212. every time say that we are not after church transfers. Yes,

  213. that's not something that we want. Oftentimes, when I meet

  214. some people who are new and ask them, uh, you know,

  215. we said you go to and they tell me, oh,

  216. I go to these church, I'll be like, Okay, you know,

  217. if you're there and you're.

  218. Rooted there, please go back to your church.

  219. Please don't join us, you know, uh, you know, unless

  220. for some reason you need to transition. Okay, for some

  221. reason it does happen. But we're not after church transfers.

  222. We're after those who are new, those who have not

  223. heard the gospel. You know, you want to get them,

  224. you know, want to preach the gospel to them and

  225. pray that they will be saved.

  226. Amen.

  227. So we're not after just you know, believers or changing

  228. from one church to another, but we're looking for new believers,

  229. those who have not heard of the gospel, and so

  230. that we can continue to add on to the Kingdom.

  231. Is God who adds unto the Kingdom of God to salvation.

  232. Yeah.

  233. So I'm not saying that church transfers is bad. I'm

  234. not saying that it's wrong. But I pray that if

  235. we be a pace of honor, even as you transfer church,

  236. there's got to be a place of honor. But I'm

  237. trying to say that you're not after church transfers, but

  238. after new believers.

  239. Amen.

  240. And so it is the Lord himself who adds them

  241. to the church. You and I we are just laborers

  242. who labor. And the Bible tells us unless the Lord

  243. builds the house, the labors for labor in vain. So

  244. if we have a part to play, all of us,

  245. you have a part to play. And I want to

  246. say to you, if you're seated here this morning, you

  247. know you're not here by coincidence. Really, I don't. I

  248. never believe in coincidences. It is by divine appointment that

  249. you are seated here and you have joined us, And

  250. so I encourage you to continue seek the Lord and

  251. ask the Lord where he has called you to to root.

  252. Down or to unpack.

  253. And when you are sure and certain, I pray that

  254. you unpack your backs. You know, think of it this

  255. way when you travel to go for a holiday. If

  256. you're staying a hotel for just three nights and your

  257. bag is there, right, all your stuff will still be

  258. in your back. Why not anybody who is staying three nights,

  259. You will take out all your clothes, put it on

  260. in the wardrob hang your shirt.

  261. You weren't right, You won't.

  262. But if you moved into a house and you paid

  263. your renter for one year or two years contract, or

  264. you bought a house. After you move your house with

  265. your luggage, you won't keepr stuff in your luggage, right,

  266. you will unpack your bags.

  267. So I prayed it.

  268. If you're new here today and you're looking for a church,

  269. I pray that you unpacked and you will route down

  270. here with us. Because our desire and ex shirt is

  271. that every person is to be mobilized, is to be discipled.

  272. We want to take you on a journey, you know,

  273. from from being a new believer and to a seasoned believer,

  274. to a disciple you know, and to become a partner

  275. and eventually to become a pioneer or a planter. We

  276. want to take you on a journey, and I'll let

  277. you know. Church planting is a strategy God has given

  278. to X church, and that is how we have grown

  279. over the years. Church planting, in fact, Exeminyon was birth

  280. out of the spirit and the strategy of church planting.

  281. It was birth nine and a half years ago. Rafter

  282. nine and a half years ago. By February next year we'll

  283. be celebrating our ten year anniversary. Let's keep God praise

  284. ten here anniversary. So, by the grace of God, myself

  285. to get with my twin brother. Yes I have a

  286. twin my brother and two more other girls. By the

  287. grace of God, we started this church that time I

  288. was how was I can't remember?

  289. Twenty three I think.

  290. Started this and we have come a long way only

  291. by the grace God.

  292. Amen.

  293. And so I pray every one of you here will

  294. be invested in the House of God, and that you

  295. will grow you know, not just as a believer, but

  296. you would grow as a disciple, as a partner, you know,

  297. eventually as a leader, and to become a pioneer and

  298. a planter.

  299. For the Lord. Amen.

  300. So people are very important. And without the people, the

  301. church woudn't exist. It's just a building. So that's the

  302. first thing. People, we are the people of God. You

  303. are the church. Remember that wherever you are gethered, you

  304. know where two or three are gathered. The Bible actually

  305. tells us where two asuere gethered, He's there in their midst.

  306. Amen. And that's my second point, which is presence. Presence.

  307. Now, his presence makes all the difference in whatever they

  308. we do, makes all the difference because his presence, we

  309. will just be here for fun. And every Sunday we

  310. pray and ask the Lord to visit us. In fact,

  311. I actually say we don't just want God's visitation, we

  312. want him to dwell among us, because when you visit,

  313. you go in for a little while and you leave.

  314. In fact, I would remind us in a quiet time

  315. that even as we pray and seek the Lord, sometimes

  316. I catch myself, when I'm very busy and rushing, I

  317. catch myself coming to a place to the Lord. Right,

  318. I just pray a simple player. I read, read a

  319. few chapters, and I'm done, and and I'm running and

  320. I'm off. You know about encourage us that to just

  321. linger in his presence. You know, we want to We

  322. don't just want to visit him. We want to linger

  323. in his presence. We want to dwell in this presence.

  324. And so that's why even in our service, we in

  325. our worship services, we try to do a little of

  326. free worship. And during those moments, I pray to you

  327. you wudn't feel awkward about it. Don't feel awkward about it,

  328. because there is power in the lingering. There is power

  329. in the lingering, you know. Or rectually this is not

  330. part of my message, but if you actually read the

  331. story of the Resurrection of Jesus, you know when the

  332. disciples went to the tomb, and I think it was

  333. Peter who went in first. And then so I can't

  334. remember the sequence because I didn't be paid. This part

  335. just came to me. One of the disciples actually lingered.

  336. So actually was Mary who lingered, And when she stooped down,

  337. she actually saw inside the tomb and she saw two angels.

  338. So what I'm trying to say, is that Mary actually

  339. lingered longer than Peter and John. I believe who left

  340. who went in.

  341. In a harvey. They were like raising each other.

  342. One went in first, one way the outside, then both

  343. went in, go and see, and then they left right

  344. and then Mary lingered. Okay, And because she link she

  345. had an encounter with Jesus himself, she thought with a gardener, Okay,

  346. that's not part of my message.

  347. Just came to me. I can go there and read it.

  348. So I'm all I'm trying to say is that there

  349. is power in the lingering a man. You want to

  350. dwell in his presence, even as he also comes and

  351. dwell in our midst. And I was reminded by this

  352. story of Moses when he prayed to the Lord and said, Lord,

  353. don't send us. If your presence is not gonna go

  354. with us, don't send us. It's found in Exodus chapter

  355. thirty three. Let me read it to you. Exodus chapter

  356. thirty three. That's the bell for lunch, lunchtime. Okay, nothing

  357. can clock really loud every hour you hear it? Okay,

  358. all right, Exodus chapter thirty three, Verse chelf And this

  359. is after the time when Moses was angry. It is

  360. all lies, because they worshiped the golden calf, you know,

  361. while he was receiving the Lord or the tablets, and

  362. so Exodus the Retary twelve. Moses says, Then, Moses say

  363. to the Lord, see you say to me, bring up

  364. these people. You see people, bring up these people. But

  365. you have not let me know whom you will send,

  366. whom you will send with me. Yet you have said

  367. I know you by name, and you have also found

  368. grace in my side. Now therefore I pray, its Moses,

  369. Therefore I pray, if I found grace in your side,

  370. show me your way that I may know you, and

  371. that I may find grace in your site. And consider

  372. that this nation is your people. And he said, my

  373. presence is here. God said, my presence will be with you,

  374. and I will give you rest. Then he said to him, basically,

  375. Moses said to the Lord, if your present does not

  376. go with us, do not bring us up from here.

  377. Do not bring us up from here, And I'll stop there.

  378. You can continue reading it on your own at home.

  379. And he says, if your presence, even the presences capital

  380. p wow. He's saying, God, if you're not gonna go

  381. with us, don't send us. And so in our worship

  382. service or even at home, in your own present a

  383. personal that worship, friends, is God's presence that makes all

  384. the difference. And we want to be in his presence

  385. for every time we ask a lot to fill this

  386. place and feel every heart here, because it is really

  387. all about his presence. His presence makes all the difference.

  388. And how do we enter into his presence? Two more

  389. peace for you, Praise and prayer. Praise and prayer. Where

  390. do we find that? He's found in some chapter hundred,

  391. very common sum that most of us will be familiar with.

  392. It is the only sum that has been given the

  393. name some of thanksgi the only okay, some of thanksgiving

  394. some one hundred. It says, make a joyful shout to

  395. the Lord. All you lends, come on, make a joyful shout.

  396. Whoo. So if you're here, extra shouting to the Lord.

  397. It's found here.

  398. Okay, you didn't walk into a funeral, You didn't walk

  399. into a boring Sunday Sunday service.

  400. Actra.

  401. She is alive and we are excited about things of God.

  402. And it's not just any shout is a joyful shout

  403. so believe me when I say that. You know, I

  404. wish to people that look, I think on Earth we're

  405. preparing for Heaven because I may I suggest to you,

  406. I don't think so heaven is quiet, because we'll be

  407. worshiping Him with the angels.

  408. You know, so get used to it. You know.

  409. In fact, I would say, don't wait to me, you

  410. get to Heaven the experience Heaven. I believe that Heaven

  411. kept the experience here Heaven on Earth gues we prayed

  412. a lot. Spare your kingdom. Come, you will be done

  413. here on earth, estidays in heaven. So make a joyful

  414. shout to the Lord. Serve the Lord with gladness, a man,

  415. anybody serving the Lord this morning with gladness.

  416. Come on.

  417. So every Sunday when you serve the Lord. I say

  418. every Sunday, because some overs here serve every Sunday. You know,

  419. we try not Toula. We try to give most of

  420. our people who are serving at least one week break

  421. per month. We try our best. We try our best,

  422. but sometimes shorthanded. And many of our leaders are very willing.

  423. Because we have served the Lord for many years. They

  424. will say Sunday, man, I stop serving.

  425. I feel weird. I don't know wady you feel.

  426. I feel I perceived you're that, you know, uh, one Sunday,

  427. and my leaders are very gracious to me.

  428. They purposedly never scared.

  429. You know, they will. They will allow me to have

  430. one week break per month. They're so gracious to me,

  431. and so I am very thankful for that. But on

  432. the one big I said, now I feel very weird.

  433. No I should, I tell you, honestly feel quite weird.

  434. But yes, the Bible says, serve the lot with gladness.

  435. And if you love serving the Lord, and if the

  436. Lord has been good to you, which I believe he

  437. is good to you, you will serve the love with gladness.

  438. A man serves the love with gladness, rejoy on your hearts.

  439. And he says, come before his presence. Come and say,

  440. come before his presence with singing. That's why we're singing.

  441. Church.

  442. Know that the Lord, he is God. It is he

  443. who has made us, and not we ourselves. We are

  444. his people and the sheep of his passion. You can

  445. see you see all the words their presence. People, We

  446. are his people, the sheep of his pasture. Enter into

  447. his gates with thanksgiving, and into his cords with praise,

  448. be thankful to him and bless his name. For the

  449. Lord is good, his mercy is everlasting, and his truth

  450. and yours to all generations.

  451. Amen.

  452. So the Bible says that enter into his gates with

  453. thanksgiving and into his courts with praise.

  454. And so there's two elements of it. There's a praise element.

  455. Actually, sorry, there's a thanksgiving element first, okay, which is

  456. a form of prayer. We give thanks to the Lord

  457. to our prayer. And the second part is praise. And

  458. so if you you know, if you look at these

  459. two words our gates and courts, right, gate is basically

  460. the security gate outside the house, you know, or if

  461. you go to a king, king spellers, uh, you know,

  462. you need to pasture the gates first. And it's at

  463. the court that you actually meet the king or whoever

  464. it is, whoever whichever vip, or your neighbor or your

  465. family or your friend. You meet them in the house

  466. in ther courts.

  467. Right.

  468. So, the Bible reminds us to enter into his gates

  469. with thanksgiving. So we ought to be thankful for all

  470. that He has done for us, for you and me,

  471. And I'm sure if you really sit down and count

  472. your blessings. Right, God has been actually very good and

  473. gracious to us if you just actually sit down for

  474. a moment and count. And sometimes we can take it

  475. for grunted, you know. I think one one clear example

  476. to give us a picture is that in Malaysia, we

  477. are very grateful that we can worship God like this

  478. because in some countries they get it underground. I think

  479. it was a missions conference, uh you know, you know

  480. they were sharing that. I won't mention the name, I

  481. won't mention the place, but they worshiped right, and theyre

  482. worshiped had no sound, you know, in the missions fueler

  483. the worship had no sound because there's persecution. They gathered

  484. in secret underground. The church was there, although there's no

  485. physical building like this, there's no cost on it. It's

  486. just the people gethered and they worshiped right. Try try

  487. singing and worshiping without aftering a single word.

  488. They basically worship with our mouth moving. But you don't

  489. hear a sound.

  490. You know why because if they worship loudly, they were

  491. coming and catch them, there'll be they'll be persecution.

  492. That oppression. So really a day, you know, what's my

  493. main point again?

  494. Presents it? Okay, Yeah, So we entered this gage with thanksgiving.

  495. We take things for granted. Here in our church in Malaysia,

  496. we are very blessed there also, I'm trying to say,

  497. we're very blessed.

  498. So entering the gates with thanksgiving.

  499. And when I when I studied the temple, right, the

  500. gates is the outer area where they walk in, and

  501. when they walk in, they were coming to the into

  502. the courts right, and the courts inside the courts, there

  503. are two sides of it.

  504. There is the inner court and the outer courts. Okay.

  505. And not only do we enter into his gates and

  506. into his courts, but under the new covernment covenant, the

  507. holies of holies have now been opened.

  508. And the veil was torn.

  509. If we're actually go and look, and I managed to

  510. watch a video of it, it's very interesting. If you

  511. look at how the temple was made, and you will

  512. see a veil and when Jesus was crucifying across the

  513. veil was torn. And now you and I have direct

  514. access to the Father. We don't need to go to

  515. a mediator, you know, but we have direct access to

  516. the Father. Of course, Jesus. Jesus is the one we

  517. go to him. He is the way to the Father,

  518. the way, the truth and a life.

  519. Amen.

  520. And so we today have a direct access to the Father,

  521. you know, through the you know, because Jesus made away

  522. all because of what Jesus had done on the cross.

  523. He opened and made the way that you and I

  524. can be reconciled back to the Father. And so I

  525. told I told you earlier, where two or three are gethered,

  526. God is there in the midst Matthew eighteen twenty For

  527. where two or three are gathered together in my name,

  528. I am there in the middle.

  529. So listen to this.

  530. Because I've been in church for a long time, and

  531. some of you here also have been in church a

  532. long time. There are days, there are days when I

  533. go I as a Christian, I don't feel the presence

  534. of God.

  535. Have you been there before?

  536. But may I suggest to you that we don't live

  537. our lives by feeling. We don't live our lives by feeling.

  538. And so it's important to know the word of God.

  539. And when the world of God's planted in our hearts

  540. and in our minds, I know for a fact that

  541. it's a promise that where two or three are gathered,

  542. God is there in their midst So there will be

  543. days that we have when we are really down, when

  544. we're really disappointed and we're frustrated.

  545. Maybe I have changed challenges in our lives.

  546. When I go into my coriet room and after I

  547. finished praying right, it's like it was just quite flat. Okay,

  548. there are days like that because I don't feel like it. Again,

  549. I'm not. We're not meant to live by feeling, but

  550. we are still creatures of feeling. We still have it,

  551. you know, And so in those days we need to

  552. be reminded again with the promise of God that He

  553. is there in their meatst human So don't live by feeling.

  554. Remember that God is there in the meats with two

  555. or three together. He is there in your meads. You

  556. don't need to come to a place where you need

  557. to feel as a sensation. Ultimately, he is there, whether

  558. you know it or not, whether you believe it or not,

  559. he is there. And I liken it in a very

  560. practical sense. You know, on a hot sunny day, sometimes

  561. when it becomes dark and gloomy, the sun is too there.

  562. They say you can't see it. You know, the sun

  563. is still there, it's covered by the clouds. Is dark

  564. in a bright day, you know, in in the afternoon

  565. it can be dark. But yet you know that the

  566. sun is there, not because you can see the sun,

  567. not because you can feel the sun, because it's not hot, it's.

  568. Covered by the clouds. But yet you know.

  569. And many of us can quite easily trust signs.

  570. But can we trust the word of God? Amen?

  571. Can we trust the word of God When he says

  572. he's there, he is there?

  573. Amen. He never lies, and he never fails us or

  574. forsake us. So he's there.

  575. And so there is these two elements of prayer and praise,

  576. which is thanksgiving and praise. So every Sunday when you

  577. come to church, take the opportunity to praise the Lord.

  578. Take the opportunity to give thanks to the Lord, because

  579. that is what the Bible has called us to do.

  580. And even as we do that, we will enter into

  581. his gates and into his carts.

  582. Amen.

  583. And so every Sunday we pray early in the morning,

  584. and even before we start our worships with a nineth

  585. a TV we also pray at niney ten.

  586. It's called a pre worship prayer.

  587. You know, because we pray for all the other different

  588. church plans in Malaysia and in the globe, and every

  589. Sunday we also bless Malaysia. And if the church in

  590. Malaysia doesn't pray for Malayia, who else to pray for it?

  591. No one else. And as a church, we also bless

  592. Jerusalem because that's what the Bible tells us to do,

  593. you know. And sometimes we don't know how to pray,

  594. so we just pray scripture very safe. You're not sure

  595. how to pray, create the scripture, just read it. Create

  596. a scripture. It can't go wrong because it's a word

  597. of God. So we really believe in the power of prayer.

  598. And maybe not not all all of us knew. But

  599. last week, actually there was an accident that happened here

  600. from one of our church members church partners. Sorry we

  601. never call up people as members partners. But thank God

  602. they were all safe, they were all all right and saved.

  603. And then when I look back, I remember that last Sunday,

  604. at the prayer time, I actually prayed for a h

  605. of protection upon every family and upon all of us

  606. in this room. And I really believe that that prayer

  607. killed them.

  608. And I want to remind us that prayer works.

  609. Just because you don't see something happened immediately doesn't mean

  610. God's not working because God has his wonders and the

  611. way he does his things and may not be the

  612. way how we imagine it to be. Because we can

  613. never put go in the box. So prayer works, and

  614. even Susannah shared Sisters. Susanna shared a story of how

  615. when she needed a miracle for her visa for the kids,

  616. and she sent a prayer request all the way here

  617. from South Africa, South Africa to Malaysia. We prayed for

  618. her here and she received a miracle a man. So

  619. prayer works, So never forsake prayer. So I want to

  620. encourage you to come and join us for prayer service

  621. because that will be the only time you're awake you

  622. spend one and a half hours praying, And can I

  623. confess with you, it's only time in my week that

  624. I spent one half hours also praying, because one half

  625. hour is quite long. I'm talking about straight straight you know,

  626. not many words can even pray for ten minutes, one

  627. more one and a half hours. So I encourage you

  628. to come join us in prayer. Even if we pray

  629. for the different needs and even your needs as well,

  630. even as you pray. I remember, you know some of

  631. our pH students here. I think they had a presentation

  632. the next day, and they still made it to prayer service,

  633. and the story didn't stop there. They won first and

  634. second place liners and when they prayer service the night

  635. before next day they had a competition or presentation, they

  636. still came for pay service went back.

  637. I think they worked very hard.

  638. I don't know what time they sleep, maybe they didn't sleep,

  639. but they got first and second place and give got

  640. all the glory. I think Line is supposed to share

  641. that's me today, but because of the agenda was very packed,

  642. a lot of a lot of announcements, so we thought you, okay,

  643. let's get lineus to share two weeks later so you'll

  644. hear it.

  645. Okay, it's a teaser, all right.

  646. Even so, pray, prayer works, and if you're still, you

  647. know in a place whereby you're waiting on the Lord,

  648. that I'll encourage you to push pee you as a pray.

  649. Until something happens.

  650. Amen, don't stop believing, keep on praying, amen, hallelujah. Okay,

  651. let's go to our last slap, which is power. Now,

  652. power comes because if some of us are seated here

  653. and we are teachers, while we'll ask me, where does

  654. the world of God come into play? Yes, actually, the

  655. world God comes into play here in the power, because

  656. there is power to the word of God and to

  657. signs and wonders.

  658. Power. Let's look to the scripture of us.

  659. Let me see, okay, First Covencience, chapter two, verse four

  660. to five. If you have a Bible, you can turn

  661. into it. It will help you to follow me close closer.

  662. First Corinthians, chapter two, verse four, the five first contents

  663. two fort The five says, and my speech and my

  664. preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but

  665. in demonstration of the spirit and of power. Then your

  666. faith that your faith should not be in the wisdom

  667. of man, but in the power of God. That's what

  668. first coinentence two four the five says. But let me

  669. read the whole things for context. Let me read verse one,

  670. verse one. To you, he says, and I vegian, But

  671. the wait this is Paul for speaking to the content church.

  672. And I regien.

  673. When I came to you did not come with excellence

  674. of speech or of wisdom, declaring to the testimony of God.

  675. For I determined not to know anything among you except

  676. Jesus Christ and him crucified. I was with you in witness,

  677. in fear and he might trembling, and in my speech

  678. and in my preaching, well, not with persuasive words of

  679. human wisdom, but in demonstration of the spirit and of power,

  680. that in your faith, that your faith should not be

  681. in the wisdom of man, but in the power of God.

  682. Some would say power. So he's saying that it is

  683. the power of God. Your faith should not be in

  684. the wisdom of man, but in the power of God.

  685. And so when I read this verse right, if you

  686. read it too quickly, you and I would think that

  687. Paul is saying that the preaching is not important. But

  688. he's talking about the demonstration of the power. It missigns

  689. and wonders. But if you really carefully, that's not what

  690. he's trying to say. Okay, there's two parts to it.

  691. Okay.

  692. The verse two says, for I determine not to know

  693. anything among you except Jesus Christ and him Crucified. That

  694. means Paul is saying he is not saying that preaching

  695. is not important, or it's not saying that he would

  696. not preach because clearly, you know, Paul has preached a lot. Okay,

  697. if you read all the missionary journeys, he preached a lot. Okay,

  698. the kings and gentiles and you name it. Okay, he

  699. preaches a lot. So clearly he's not contradicting himself. But

  700. what he's saying is that, you know, in another version,

  701. he says, right, I will forget everything except Jesus Christ.

  702. That's what the enerty vision says. So all he's trying

  703. to say is that when he preached, right, it's.

  704. All about Jesus.

  705. It's all about Jesus and him crucifi his main objective.

  706. Or his purpose.

  707. And he's determined to know, sorry to know, and to

  708. make Jesus known Jesus and him crucified. But he did

  709. it all with the power of the Holy Spirit. So

  710. he's not ignoring knowledge, he's not putting preaching aside, but

  711. he's saying Jesus is the singular and main focus of

  712. all of his preaching. So friends, Jesus Christ, he's the

  713. author and finisher of our faith. He is the hat

  714. That's why I started by telling you he is the hate.

  715. Christ is the heat of the Church. We are the body,

  716. so it's important that we know that. And so he

  717. starts by saying, I did not know anything except you,

  718. anything among you, except Jesus Christ. And then towards the

  719. end he says, and my speech and my preaching will

  720. not be persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration

  721. of the Spirit and of power. So he did not

  722. come with human wisdom, but he came preaching Jesus and

  723. demonstrating the power of the Spirit.

  724. Paul knew that his job.

  725. As a preacher was just to preach, and it's the

  726. Holy Spirit that demonstrates the power.

  727. Amen.

  728. And so in church, I really believe that the power

  729. of God needs to be evident in the church. The

  730. power of God to heal, the power of God to

  731. set people free, the power of God to break depression,

  732. the power of God to heal marriages, the power of

  733. God to heal broken families, the power of God to

  734. help you in your studies, whatever it is, the power

  735. of God has got to be evident in the church.

  736. And man, I really believe it. And then that's why

  737. we pray for healing in church.

  738. That's why we pray for a break juice, We pray

  739. for miracles because some of your friends out there really

  740. need prayer, they really need a miracle bring them to church.

  741. And the more hungry there there are, the more God

  742. will move, will show show up and show off his

  743. power because they are hungry and they want more of Him.

  744. And so we don't ever want to be a church.

  745. So I'm giving you a warning, a gentle warning, and lovingly,

  746. we don't ever want to be a church that has

  747. the form of Godliness but deny its power. So the

  748. Bible says you can find it a second timoty three five.

  749. Maybe never be a church that have a form of

  750. Godliness but deny its power. So we will continue to

  751. believe for the supernatural. We will we will continue to

  752. pray the sick will be healed. We continue to pray

  753. for your love wants to be saved because we believe

  754. in the power. We believe in the power of prayer.

  755. We believe that Christ is here with us. And so

  756. we have a saying here that people will come to

  757. church because of worship, they enjoy the worship. They will

  758. come back because of the Word, they enjoy the Word,

  759. and they will stay because of the of the warmth

  760. or the community, and so preaching is important. And I

  761. remember was telling us, you know that this is the

  762. fastest going church in Korea. It's called I think Yoido

  763. Full Gospel, the fastest going church in Korea, more than

  764. a million. The pastor actually said, as Young show, the

  765. late past Young Gicho said, the three most important elements

  766. for church growth Number one good preaching. Number two good

  767. good organization. Number three good administration. And so in the

  768. days to come, you know, yesterday we did a training

  769. with our leaders on the five four ministry. That's that's

  770. the part of the good administration part. And so if

  771. you want to know more about five four minute she

  772. come and join us at get Away.

  773. I let you know.

  774. First to get Away, we will have one session. They

  775. will be doing the five four ministry, because we really

  776. believe that the church needs all five of this five

  777. four minute tree, the apostles, the profits, the evangelists, the pastors,

  778. and the teachers. And actually in this room we have

  779. all five of them, okay, because we did the firefour

  780. ministry gives out the test and we actually have all

  781. of it. Okay, we have the gifts of this fivefold ministry.

  782. So come and join us at the get away if

  783. you want to also learn on the fivefold ministry.

  784. So let me, let me, let me begin to close.

  785. Colosion Street sixteen says, let a word of Christ you all,

  786. and you richly in all wisdom, teaching and amonishing one

  787. another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with

  788. grace in your hearts to the Lord. And so the

  789. Bible instructs us to make disciples of all nations. And

  790. the words didn't stop there. It says, make disciples of

  791. all nations, teaching them to observe all things that I've

  792. commanded you. So definitely the preaching of the world is important,

  793. coupled alongside with the demonstration of the power of God.

  794. Amen. And so allow me to close right now.

  795. Even as I want to make I want to give

  796. you a bit of practical steps. Okay, So what should

  797. you prepare or how should you prepare when you come

  798. to check. So the beggard of it is that I've

  799. grown up in church all my life. That means that

  800. I'm a second Jean Christian. Second jen Christian means my

  801. parents are Christians. I was born in a Christian family.

  802. My name was given by one of the pastor. You know,

  803. he's found in the Bible. Of course, Steven as a

  804. martter in the Bible. So I grew up as a

  805. Christian all my life, and I've always attended church as

  806. a religious activity, you know, because my parents would never

  807. allow me to sleep in on church, never, not even exams.

  808. Only one condition I could sleep I could sleep in

  809. when I'm sick, one condition. And even though my family

  810. went on holiday, we're always still found in church. I

  811. told you a funny story when we were in Russia

  812. one of those uh, for for holiday and for my

  813. sisters graduation for medicine in Russia. There was many years back,

  814. not now, uh those days we went to a Russian

  815. church and we had no idea what they were singing,

  816. but we were there anyway, on a Sunday in the church.

  817. And so I grew up all my life in church,

  818. and I never really looked forward to church on Sunday,

  819. you know, Can I be honest with you, It was

  820. very mundane. I went to church just because my parents

  821. brought me to church. And doesn't mean that I wasn't

  822. growing in my faith. Yes, I was growing, but I

  823. just drank my feet to church when I was growing

  824. up for at least seventeen years of my life. And

  825. if some of you are in that place, I pray

  826. that you will fine transformation and you'll find a renew

  827. purpose to come to church. So my turning point happened

  828. when I came to Act about fifteen years ago, when

  829. I came to ask k Neelai, and I really really

  830. look forward to church from that day onwards because it

  831. was different. It was really different. The church believed in

  832. young people, really very believed young people. Uh they sold

  833. in my life. They gave me an opportunity and I

  834. really grew in my faith a lot. And from that

  835. time onwards, I really look forward to church. On a Sunday,

  836. I could wake up on my own. My parents you

  837. have to call me, you know, set my alarm. So

  838. I want to encourage you to be expectant and excited

  839. for church, because if you have expectation.

  840. When you come to church, you will be excited.

  841. Think of it that I was waiting for the latest

  842. release of whatever it is.

  843. iPhone or some song or a movie. You're excited.

  844. You know, when a couple is getting married, they're very

  845. excited for the marriage right there waiting in excitement. So

  846. have expectation when you come to church, and if you

  847. have an expectation good we see from the Lord.

  848. I guarantee you were really.

  849. And sometimes preconceived ideas and our minds can really rob

  850. us from the blessing.

  851. If you come to church.

  852. Saying that today I'm feeling tired, I don't really feel

  853. like lifting my hands, then that's what you're gonna get.

  854. You know, the better is really in the mind instead.

  855. The Bible tells us to we knew our minds. We

  856. knew our minds, so be expecting, expect if we see

  857. from the Lord every Sunday when you come to church,

  858. expect to experience his power, his presence.

  859. Be excited.

  860. I want to encourage you to be excited about the

  861. things of God, because sometimes we can be excited about

  862. many other things, but not the things of God out

  863. But when you have high expectation, you will look forward

  864. to it. You will be excited for you. That's number one.

  865. Be expected, be expecting and exciting and excited. Number two,

  866. prepare physically so we encourage our partners. You know, on

  867. a Saturday night, if you're a person who can't wake

  868. up in on a Sunday morning, then sleep early, sleep early,

  869. come on sleep earlier. I remember the days that I've

  870. always slept before.

  871. Yes, I have.

  872. In the early days when I used to serve in

  873. Exley Lie and I was serving on the sound. We

  874. come at six air in the morning and I always slept.

  875. It happens. It happens.

  876. But my encouragement to you, if you really are a

  877. person who will stay, who will oversleep, then sleep earlier.

  878. It will help.

  879. Very practical. No rocket science. You don't need to pray

  880. about it. This is a very practical start sleep, you know.

  881. Choose your shirt the night before. I ain't no shirt.

  882. Prepare the night before. That's worship. Even before you come

  883. on a Sunday morning. Set aside, you're offering. Set aside,

  884. you're offering before you come to church. Number three, prepare spiritually,

  885. Prepare your heart and your mind to received from the Lord,

  886. even and you come on a Sunday. Number four posture

  887. of surrender. I think line is talked about earlier because

  888. our posture is very important. You will come to church

  889. and your posture is in a place whereby you are

  890. angry with God, or you are frustrated, or you're disappointed,

  891. then your heart and your mind will be closed for me.

  892. I want to encourage you.

  893. Every Sunday when I come to church, I say God,

  894. I'm ready to received from you. I want to surrender

  895. my heart to you. I come in a posture of surrender,

  896. not just in the physical sense, but also spiritually in

  897. our hearts. Amen, lift your hands in worship. Don't be shy.

  898. If you've never done it before. It will be awkward

  899. for a start. I want to encourage you. It will

  900. get better as you go along because you're lifting your

  901. hands to the Lord to anyone else. So there's a

  902. posture of surrender. And last, but not least belved you.

  903. If you've been in as for long enough, I create

  904. that you are wrote down. You unpack your bags and

  905. be involved, because that's a saying right. Familiarity breeds contempt.

  906. When you become too familiar with something, or you become

  907. too used to something, we can become very comfortable and

  908. becomes stagnan.

  909. And one of the ways to grow is to continue

  910. to be involved.

  911. And as to continue to say yes to the Lord,

  912. you will continue to grow. I told you when I

  913. first joined, I just joined as a visitor like many

  914. of you when you first started, and I became a disciple,

  915. became a leader, and eventually the call came passed. I

  916. can set me down and said, look, would you start

  917. this church in ex the money? I said, I don't

  918. know if I can do it, but if you believe

  919. it nothing me. I'll try. But I said, give me

  920. three years, just three years. In me, I can't remember.

  921. You told me, just hang on for three years. And

  922. after three years, if you really cannot, he will he

  923. let me go. So we accounting it's nine years. It's

  924. nine years. So I will say to you, a man,

  925. praise the Lord, if you'll be willing to volunteer time

  926. your treasure, telling to just give to the Lord and say, Lord,

  927. I want to be involved, because that is the best

  928. way that you and I will grow in the Lord.

  929. And some people will say, look faster, you know what.

  930. I will find my belonging then I will serve. But

  931. may I suggest to you it's actually the away I

  932. find my belonging when I serve. I find my belonging

  933. when I serve. Because when you begin to serve the

  934. Lord and be involved in a church, you will make

  935. a lot of friends. Your rop shoulders. You have some

  936. disappointments and there's normal, and that's where we grow. We

  937. want another That's why we have excitement. Amen, so be excited.

  938. Prepare physically, prepare spiritually, come with a posture of surrender

  939. and be involved in the House of God.
