  1. You're listening to a message to go from ex Church.

  2. We hope this message will light up your day.

  3. Now, I want to start off by saying, how many

  4. of you, when you woke up this morning, you set

  5. your alarm clock and then there is something called the snooze.

  6. How many have you snooze today? Let me see? Oh, okay,

  7. ninety percent of you are honest. The rest of you, okay,

  8. I have to be honest. I also snooze right extra

  9. fifteen minutes, oh okay. And it's very interesting because as humans,

  10. right understanding human behavior and all that, we know, there's

  11. some things that we need to do, and yet we

  12. put it off, for example, waking up right and waking

  13. up okay, so if you can have the first light,

  14. so yeah, it's always just five more minutes, right, just

  15. five more minutes, and then you know, you're like, okay, snooz,

  16. snow snooze. And sometimes it's like maybe five more later, lord,

  17. you know, or five years later. And okay, let's go

  18. to the next picture. I just want to ask you,

  19. if you know, can you recognize what is this Titanic?

  20. How many of you watch the movie Titanic? Can I see? Okay?

  21. So most of you can have reference to this, right,

  22. I need to check sometimes, you know, because sometimes with

  23. the pictures that I use or the stories that you say,

  24. like huh, this new generation, right, all this gen z Jennofer,

  25. what's that? It's so funny because yesterday the Pengue and

  26. I we were like humming some old songs Christian songs, right,

  27. and our girls are like, what's that? What are you singing? Okay,

  28. so you know reference for this is Titanic. Now, the

  29. interesting story about Titanic is you know it's sank, right,

  30. all of you know it's sank. So funny. The main

  31. character is Jack and Rose. So we have a Jack

  32. and Jill in our church. They are the you know,

  33. church planters in ex Cyberjaya. So okay, So Jack and

  34. Rose didn't happen. Jack and Jail happened. So that the

  35. story about you you know that they launched a maiden

  36. voyage right across the sea and then they hit Iceberg

  37. and they sank. Now what was interesting was nearby as

  38. they sent the distress signal the flares to go up

  39. that very night after they had crashed, there were some

  40. boats nearby, all right, some boats nearby. There was one

  41. called the Californian. It's a ship called the Californian. And

  42. what happened was, initially after they had that crash, they

  43. sent flash signals up. So from the Titanic they sent

  44. it up. Now this ship, they actually saw that there

  45. were flaps coming up, but they didn't do anything about it. Okay,

  46. they didn't do anything about it. And sometimes we have

  47. to ask ourselves, like, okay, how come you know flash

  48. signals is emergency? But of course there were different excuses.

  49. Bear in mind, Bear in mind that the sea was

  50. very icy. Okay, a lot of places were frozen over,

  51. and that's why they hit the iceberg as well. So

  52. it was dangerous to respond to that flas signal. And

  53. what was even more interesting was the captain of that ship,

  54. the Californian, had turned off all radio communication, okay, and

  55. so when the distress signal was called out to all

  56. the nearby ships and vessels because they needed rescue boats

  57. right as it was sinking. They needed rescue boats. They

  58. didn't have enough. If you study, you know the story

  59. of it, they just didn't have enough. And what happened

  60. was one five hundred people died in that from that ship.

  61. That's a lot of people. Now you can ask, like,

  62. could it have made any difference if this ship had

  63. responded to the flat signal or had their communications open,

  64. it could have saved five more likes. I don't know,

  65. but it's five lives important. It is, right, it is

  66. it's you know, think about it, my mom, my dad,

  67. my siblings. That's a family of five, and so it

  68. could have made a difference. Of course, you know they

  69. had different excuses. But now what happened was I mean

  70. for us something to learn from this and where I'm

  71. gonna get it? And you know this is that whenever

  72. we see signals or signs that is calling us to

  73. do something, you know. And the song that we sang

  74. if You're calling me, and every time you sing that songer,

  75. I just wish they didn't put the word ifla. You know. No, honestly,

  76. this is just me and I'm just saying God is

  77. calling you. It's not if he's calling you, He is

  78. calling you, right, It's not like, oh, I don't know

  79. whether God is calling me or not. He is. Can

  80. I tell you that I don't know how you can

  81. choose a song but don't okay other people's song. No,

  82. I'll cheer song. No, no massacred. But I really believe

  83. God is calling us each day right that there are

  84. distressed signals being sent out and the danger is we

  85. might miss the signals. We missed the signals, and worse

  86. off we turn off our coms, we turn off spiritually,

  87. you know, and say yeah, I just need to rest

  88. for the night, and we you know, lives are lost

  89. in the in the ship for this, and so you know,

  90. I had this sense of where this is, where the

  91. Lord was leading me. And I just want to maybe

  92. start off by saying that God gave me this message

  93. two weeks ago, because what happened was I have a neighbor.

  94. I have a neighbor, a family of five, and I've

  95. been praying for them. They're non believers, they're pre believers,

  96. and so you know, she's also undergoing her master's in NBA,

  97. she's doing her MBA, and so she always asked me

  98. for help to go over and to help her with

  99. different assignments and all that. And so every time I

  100. go over to my neighbor's house sometimes I had this

  101. sense of like, Okay, after we talked three hours about

  102. a SIGNM already right, and God is saying I think you,

  103. you know, share share, but godla, right, share the good news,

  104. because that's what we're called to do, right, We're called

  105. to share the good news. And every time there is

  106. a hesitance, like but you know, she'll think I'm weird.

  107. But you know, maybe not not now, Allah, Maybe there's

  108. another opportunity, maybe Christmas, you know, maybe Christmas, and so

  109. that thought lingers, and so we will just have a

  110. good chat and you know, and and then we go

  111. separate ways. So two weeks ago, what happened was I

  112. heard the news that her husband shared with my mom

  113. in law and said that this neighbor suddenly just collapsed

  114. at work. She was under a lot of stress from

  115. her work, and she was also under a lot of

  116. stress from doing her masters, and she just banks on

  117. at work. And what happened was they found that there

  118. was a clot in her brain. And she has not

  119. waken up since she's still in the hospital right now.

  120. And do you know when I first heard that news, right,

  121. I just I was just crushed. I was crushed and

  122. I just had to repent before the Lord, do you know.

  123. And the thought that came to my mind was I

  124. may never have a chance to share God's love to

  125. her again. If she never wakes up, you know, if

  126. she never wakes up, that that's it. I don't know

  127. what kind of eternity she will enter. And so I

  128. really just had to repent before the light. I said, God,

  129. I missed my opportunity. I'm so sorry. God. It really

  130. shook me. It really showed me that this is so near,

  131. so real. It's my neighbor. Every morning we'll say hi,

  132. good morning, type you know of neighbor. And now she's

  133. laying in the hospital and so so she's like in

  134. a semi comma state where she can just open her

  135. eyes and then she will just squeeze her hand. That's it.

  136. That's the only communication she has right now. Whether she

  137. recognizes her family or not, I don't know. And so

  138. so that that birth this message. And you know, if

  139. you really want to take not of what God is saying,

  140. he's saying this delayed obedience. Delayed obedience is disobedience. It's

  141. a really ouch thing. And I just want to confess

  142. before you that that's what I experience, a delayed obedience.

  143. It's never you know, sometimes I ask myself, why do

  144. we procrastinate on things like that right. This whole idea

  145. of procrastination is it's not like we sometimes we don't

  146. know what to do, but many times we know what

  147. to do, and yet we don't do it. That is

  148. the danger and the wake up call for all of

  149. us to just have a sense that God, I know

  150. that he's speaking to you right now. There is some

  151. things that he wants you and I to do, and

  152. yet we hesitate, and yet we have many excuses. Now,

  153. if you look into psychology research, I know of you

  154. study psychology right now, why is this psychology of procrastination? Right?

  155. Why do we procrastinate? What do you think is the answer?

  156. Why do we procrastinate? Lazy? I know? Thank you for that?

  157. What else? You don't want to confront the work? I

  158. think I still got time. I think I still got

  159. I thought I had a lot of time with my neighbor,

  160. but turns out I didn't. Right, And what Possess even

  161. said it was, yeah, I think I don't want to

  162. confront this and and that is the idea of it, right. Procrastination,

  163. according to research and psychology, is because there is this

  164. uncomfortable emotions that we don't want to encounter. Right. It

  165. says that we are just trying to avoid the uncomfortable emotions.

  166. So I also ask myself, like, so if I shared

  167. with her, and if she rejected me or she say

  168. don't don't talk to me about these kind of things, right,

  169. how would I I have felt, you know? And so

  170. then I had to say, but it's not about me.

  171. Obedience is really not about my feelings my emotions, right,

  172. it's just saying, God, you said it, I would just

  173. do it. Okay. So let's learn from the word of

  174. God a deeper lesson what he wants to speak to

  175. a different one of different ones of us. I don't

  176. know what is it that God is one thing you

  177. to do. There is something he wants you to do,

  178. you know. And I pray that when we leave this

  179. hall after this, that you will have this sense of urgency. God.

  180. I know there's a friend I need to call right now.

  181. I better call after this. You know you got to

  182. day's holiday, right, don't just sleep loud? Okay? There is

  183. something that God wants us to action upon, right, and

  184. so if you know this, you know God is bringing

  185. some names to your mind right now? Okay? That is

  186. God speaking. If God is saying go and reconcile, go

  187. and forgive that person. That is God's voice right now,

  188. do not delay. Okay, So let's read from the Book

  189. of Numbers. Okay, let's read from the Book of Numbers today.

  190. The main text will be taken from Numbers thirteen and fourteen.

  191. All right, So I encourage you to open your bibles.

  192. Do you know where the Book of Numbers are? Yes?

  193. I know some of you right when you think about numbers?

  194. What do you think about when you think about the

  195. Book of Numbers? Numbers? Lat right, and all of you

  196. a straightforwardsleep? Can I ask you to please don't fall asleep.

  197. Numbers is a very exciting book. Right. I'm not just

  198. gonna read names of tribes or people that you don't know.

  199. But there is a real deep story that God wants

  200. us to learn from this. Okay, now to give you

  201. a context, okay, let me just read a little bit first.

  202. Let's go to Numbers chapter thirteen. Okay, Numbers, numbers, all right?

  203. So okay, before this, do you know what was the

  204. promise given to the children of Israel? Tell me what's

  205. the promise? The promise? Okay. God always starts off with

  206. a promise. He wants to bring us into that promised land.

  207. And do you know what happened after that? What happened

  208. to the children of Israel. Most of them did not

  209. enter into the promised Land. I pray that all of

  210. us will enter God's promise land, amen, because the promise

  211. is given to all his children. You know, it was

  212. given to all his children. But you know that said

  213. fact that out of six hundred thousand people who were

  214. given that promise, only two of that generation entered into

  215. the promised land. Wow, really something for us to take

  216. note of. O. Okay, so they so you will recognize

  217. in even as early as Genesis chapter twelve, that's the

  218. first time God told Abram, right, go to this far

  219. off land, and I will give you this land as

  220. your inheritance for you and your descendants. And then he said,

  221. go and look outside the sky. The stars you can't

  222. even name and number them, but this will be your descendants.

  223. And Abraham at the time, oh year of little faith,

  224. He's like, but I got no kids, right, that's a

  225. human respond but I don't have this, but I don't

  226. have that, okay. And so so that was his response,

  227. and of course God said, never mind, I will give

  228. it to you you want to receive or not, I

  229. will give it to you. But of course, to Abram's credit,

  230. he did receive that promise and it was credited to

  231. him as righteousness. Right, So that's something we can learn

  232. from our ancestor Abraham. All right, So I want to

  233. read a little bit from Exodus chapter three. So that

  234. was a promise given to Abraham. Now who's the person

  235. that was supposed to bring them into the promise? And

  236. what's his name? Moses? You know, the character Moses. And

  237. see God had to remind Moses as well, right, not

  238. just Abram Abraham the time diaryy. So now it's a

  239. new generation. Now I need to pass it on. Tell Moses,

  240. is that you have something as well? Okay, So Moses

  241. Tree eight says this, I have come down to deliver

  242. them them, meaning the children of Israel, out of the

  243. hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them out of

  244. that land to a good and broad land, a land

  245. flowing with milk and honey. Okay, any lectose intolerant people, Okay,

  246. I think you cannot enter. Probably Lenna, oh you will enter,

  247. and you're haha, but God can reading that imen. Whatever

  248. problems you know, sometimes we think about this land of

  249. milk and honey, we don't know what to think of it. Like,

  250. basically what it means is a very fatile land. Do

  251. you want to go into a land where everything that

  252. you do is successful? Everyone right in the land that

  253. we live in a so so much strife. You know,

  254. you you plant seats, you you do your work, and

  255. it is so much striving and it's so challenging in

  256. your work and your career. But how nice to be

  257. able to enter a land where it's just flowing. You know,

  258. you do have to do much, You just have to

  259. go and read the harvest God has prepared. Wow, I

  260. want that promised land and I want to go into that.

  261. So God already promised the children that you will enter

  262. this land. And if if okay, let's say your parents

  263. tell you, okay, okay, tell me where's the place that

  264. you really want to go? Disneyland, the Child, the Inner

  265. Child and Puss Steven is still there? Anyone else where

  266. else you want to go? Scotland? So specific? Okay? Anywhere

  267. else you want to go go holiday? Like anywhere? Then

  268. can you teach you to militia can go holiday? Or

  269. so you know, and you know your parents only tell you, Okay,

  270. you know next week we're gonna go to Disneyland. Yay. Right.

  271. As children, you you look forward to it, right, But

  272. what about the children of Israel? What is their response? Okay,

  273. so hotly, hotly? Will your children say, oh, but what

  274. if the flights are too expensive? Oh? But what if

  275. you know it rains in Disneyland and we cannot do

  276. the other thing? But what if? Right? Do you respond

  277. that way? Usually know? Right, because you have food trust

  278. in your parents that says, okay, we're gonna go discent landing.

  279. They got it all figured out. So but the problem

  280. with us many times and our relationship with God is

  281. we don't fully trust him because it seems as though

  282. we we don't trust that he's got it all figured out.

  283. And so this brings us to numbers Chapter thirteen. Do

  284. you know that Moses had to send top spies into

  285. the land? Okay, let's go. Do I have a picture

  286. of our spiser? Oh got spizer? Oh cheer, handsome handsome men? Right?

  287. Can you imagine them like, oh, okay, going into that land?

  288. Whose idea was it to send spies into the land?

  289. Moses' idea? I heard Israelites idea. Okay, some people might

  290. think it's God's idea. Why. Okay, let's read a numbers,

  291. chapter THIRTENA, and I'll tell you why. Some people think

  292. it's God. Verse one numbers, chapter thirteen, Verse one, and

  293. the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, send men to spy

  294. out the land of Canaan, which I'm giving to the

  295. children of Israel. From each tribe of their fathers, you

  296. shall send a man everyone, a leader among them. Does

  297. it sound like it was God who sent them? Sounds

  298. like from reading this text, But actually that's why you

  299. cannot read the Bible in isolation. If you just read

  300. this text on his own, you will assume that in yeah,

  301. God is the one who sent the spies. Word. But

  302. you think about it, right, Logically, if I already promise

  303. you a good land, I already promise you to bring this,

  304. will I say? Okay, now you go, and you go

  305. and see whether my words can be trusted or not.

  306. You see where it's coming from the very fact that

  307. if we think that God is asking them to send spice,

  308. it means that I think you don't believe me. H,

  309. I don't think you believe me. So therefore you go

  310. and check it out yourself. Right. And where we get this.

  311. If you read Deuteronomy, you will say that actually it

  312. was the people, when God had already sent word that

  313. you will just go and possess it. Right. The obedient

  314. thing to do is like, okay, let's go when how right?

  315. Not how just when? Let's go right? But the people say, no,

  316. I think we need to spy the land first, you know,

  317. see whether see weather. This is something that we all

  318. like to say, see whether it's good land or not. Okay.

  319. So and then it says that Moses relented because of

  320. the people's cry, and he says, okay, fine, we will

  321. go with this idea. Okay. So this is numbership that

  322. the thing, and so Moses was three send them from

  323. the wilderness of parent according to the command of the Lord,

  324. all of them men who are hates of the children

  325. of Israel, okay, or the twelve men that okay, Now,

  326. let's move on to verse seventeen. Then Moses send them

  327. to spy out the land of Canaan, and sit to them.

  328. Go up this way into the south and go up

  329. to the mountains and see what the land is like.

  330. You see, we like to see things before we believe it. Now,

  331. so see what the land is like, whether the people

  332. who dwell in it are strong or weak, few or many,

  333. whether the land they dwell that in it is good

  334. or bad, whether the cities they inhabit are like camps

  335. or strongholds, whether the land is rich or poor, and

  336. whether they are forests there or not. Be of good

  337. courage and bring some of the fruit of the land. Now,

  338. the time was the season of the first ripe grapes. Okay,

  339. So you know that's what's happening. Now, it's you know God,

  340. Can you take God at his word or not? Let

  341. me ask you that easy to say, yes, la, but

  342. actually to act it out is a very very challenging thing. Right.

  343. So if you look at them, I think there's a

  344. picture with some grapes. Now, let's see ya. Okay. Anyway,

  345. so they actually went in so I So they went

  346. out and spied the land, okay, And then they brought

  347. back some of the pomegranates and fixed all right, is

  348. there a don't have that? Okay? Never mind? Is a

  349. blood picture? Okay? So now, okay, let's read verse twenty five,

  350. number thirteen. Verse twenty five. It says, And they returned

  351. from spying out the land after how many days? Forty days?

  352. It is forty days in important detail for you to remember, yes,

  353. please remember forty Can you imagine going spying out a

  354. land for forty days? It's quite long, right, you'll go

  355. holiday one week, you need two weeks. This one is

  356. extended holiday. No more than one month to spy out

  357. the land. Okay. And they came back all right, okay,

  358. So let's go to verse twenty six. Now they departed, okay,

  359. after the forty days and came back to Moses and

  360. Aaron and all the congregation of the children of Israel

  361. in the wilderness of Paran. They brought back word to

  362. them and all the congregation and shot them the fruit

  363. of the land. Okay, showed them the fruit of the land.

  364. And they told him and said, we went to the

  365. land where you sent this. It truly flows with milk

  366. and honey, and this is its fruit. Right now. You see,

  367. every time there is God's promise, right, God is true,

  368. He never lies, all right, So the problem is not

  369. the giver. The problem is with the receiver. Promise is given.

  370. God is true, God is faithful, He never lies. But

  371. I think there's always a problem with the receiving n

  372. and I call this the two types of receiver. Okay,

  373. type one, Type one, I will call it. Type A

  374. is the receiver that's called the nevertheless, the never the

  375. Oh yeah, that's my great picture of quite bizarre. Right.

  376. Have you ever seen grapes like this before? I know,

  377. the biggest one you've seen is like the musket green

  378. that will be on right. I don't know how else

  379. to describe the fruit la Otherwise all those grapes are

  380. so funny, but this one they had to carry on

  381. poles between two men. That's pretty heavy stuff, okay. And

  382. they also brought back different types fruits, so they acknowledge

  383. the fact the fact that it truly flows with milk

  384. and honey. So it's like they've seen it, they've seen

  385. the So what is the response when you see something already?

  386. God says, go because I will give you this lenth

  387. but so one type of receiver, and can I tell

  388. you this is the majority majority of receivers are called

  389. the type one, the nevertheless people. Now, let's see what

  390. kind of respec sponds is the nevertheless people response? Okay,

  391. so let's go out Verse twenty eight, they already just say,

  392. you know that the land is full, flowing with milk

  393. and honey. And verse twenty eight. Nevertheless, the people who

  394. dwell in the land are strong. The cities are fortified

  395. and very large. Moreover, we saw the descendants of Anna there.

  396. The Amalekites dwell in the land of the south. The

  397. heat tides the emirits. Okay, all the needs that I

  398. cannonites verse thirty. Okay, before I go to verse thirty,

  399. do you see now that this is a very typical

  400. behavior of the nevertheless type of people. Okay? Why is

  401. because they give all kinds of excuses, all kinds of excuse.

  402. What's the excuse? Number one? People too strong? Okay, people

  403. too strong? Excuses, The cities are two forty five Okay.

  404. Another excuse is these are like giants, okay, giants in

  405. their eyes. All right, So this excuse and what drives

  406. our excuses. So every time, right, something happens and you

  407. find yourself and I pray that there will be an

  408. awareness if you find yourself giving an excuse to say

  409. no or later we have to ask ourselves from what

  410. perspective am I looking at? So, because their perspective is

  411. right they are looking at the people. They are looking

  412. at the people of the land, and they look at

  413. them selves. You see her. There are there are many

  414. ways of looking at things, all right. One perspective of

  415. the majority is I will look at that challenge and

  416. I will look at myself. So conclusion is your challenge

  417. will always be bigger than you. True not, because you know,

  418. let's see what their response is. I'm gonna jump a

  419. little bit. In numbers fourteen. It says right verse thirty one,

  420. let's go to verse thirty one. That's what they say.

  421. They say, But the men who had gone up with

  422. him said, we are not able to go up against

  423. the people, for they are stronger than we. And they

  424. gave the children of Issueal a bad report of the

  425. land which they spied out, saying, the land which we're

  426. gone is a land that devours its inhabitants, and all

  427. the people whom we saw it are men of great stature.

  428. Then we saw the giants, the descendants of nat came

  429. from the giants, and we were like, we're like grasshoppers

  430. in our own site, and so we were in their site.

  431. So this group of people firstly very good at giving

  432. excuses of why it cannot be done. Right. Their perspective

  433. is because they are looking at the problem and they

  434. look at themselves. Think about it, right, when you look

  435. at your challenges, are you looking at a problem, and

  436. then you look at yourself and you do a comparison,

  437. and you're like, okay, I'm defeated. It's okay, forget it,

  438. forget it, right. And what's worse is what's worse is

  439. they spread this lies, They spread the lines what it says,

  440. it says, they spread a bad report among the congregation

  441. right and say, no, I think this land is not

  442. good for us, not good for us. Right now, you

  443. see what happened when when our words that we say

  444. begin to do. You know, they always have power. Whatever

  445. you declare and whatever you confess has power. And let's

  446. see what their confession caused them. Okay, in verse forteen,

  447. Now this is talking about ten spies, right, the ten spies.

  448. They gang up together and they say, okay, you know

  449. this is a bad report. Let's let's make sure that

  450. we don't do this. Okay. Now, So all the congregation

  451. lifted up their voices and cried no. This is all

  452. the congregation lifted up their voices, and the people wept

  453. that night. Hello, the promise was go and take that land,

  454. land or milk and honey, lend where you do not

  455. need to strive. But that night they cried a good news,

  456. are you promise? But because of a majority voices, they

  457. cried that night because they believed the report. They believed

  458. that report. They were the ones that sent out right.

  459. So they believed the report. And then look what happened

  460. next in verse two fourteen verse two, and all the

  461. children of Israel complain against Moses and Aaron, and the

  462. whole congregation said to them, if only we died, if

  463. only we had died in this wilderness, and look at this,

  464. Why has the Lord brought us to this land to

  465. fall by the sword, that our wives and children should

  466. become victims? Would it not be better for us to

  467. return to Egypt? So they say to one another, let

  468. us select a leader and return to Egypt. Now, there's

  469. so many things we can learn from this. So number one,

  470. just be very careful about how you are saying things,

  471. because what you say will affect the entire congregation. Do

  472. you know this is very true in the church, right

  473. If the leaders say let's do this, let's conquer this campus.

  474. You know, we want to reach out to campus students, right,

  475. and then the LSB or ten of them else we've

  476. got twelve technically, so in our ideal model of our

  477. church is you know, there's twelve homes, right, and then

  478. each homes is represented, you know in the LSBO, which

  479. is the local Senior pass's office, is how they govern,

  480. how we govern. And can you imagine ten of them

  481. say no, we cannot take this campus. Why because you know,

  482. maybe they speak mandarine, We don't you see, ah, the challenge.

  483. Maybe it's too far, no parking, maybe we got no

  484. contact there, you know, and you know they look at

  485. us as adults. You know, maybe we cannot geil. I

  486. don't know what excuses could be. But the ten out

  487. of the twelve that's no will usually overpower the other two,

  488. the majority versus the minor. And this is exactly the case.

  489. And what was worse, they roll up the entire congline

  490. and I'll say, the entire church to say no, we

  491. want to go back. Let's let's not do anything about it.

  492. You know, how come it was better better before this.

  493. Let's do the all things that we used to do, right,

  494. if only we died. Worst thinger. They rather die, you know,

  495. they rather die than to go into a lend a

  496. promise given to them land of flowing with milk and honey.

  497. So that is the perspective that they have. And I

  498. think what really really shook me was, do you know

  499. that every time you complain, you're not complaining against Moses,

  500. You're not complaining against the leader, because you're complaining against

  501. the Lord. Because you say, it says here right verse three,

  502. why has the Lord brought? Yes? So ultimately, every complaint,

  503. every grumbling that you have, it's not against your leader,

  504. it's against God. Because I really believe that whoever God

  505. has placed as leader he anointed? Are they perfect church?

  506. All our leaders will? We say no, far from it.

  507. It's not because of the perfection that God chose them,

  508. you know, it's not because of their skills. You look

  509. at Moses. Was he a man of great skills? Was

  510. he like the greatest speaker? He was like, I'm a man,

  511. humble man, stuttering, you said, my brother, if you look

  512. at him by men's standards, nothing to command him. But

  513. God sees very differently. Right. We might look at the appearance,

  514. but God looks at the heart, right, And so I

  515. take this as a principle in my own life that

  516. I will never speak against my leader, no matter how

  517. much I disagree. It's not about heart whether I think

  518. I have a better idea or not. My role is

  519. to be able to submit to my leader. Amen. I

  520. know had to hear a la. But this is something

  521. that God is teaching is it's very real. It's very

  522. very real that we shall never speak against whom the

  523. Lord has appointed, because we are ultimately saying God, I

  524. think you made a mistake. I think you may a

  525. mistake in choosing Moses and in choosing Aaron. I think

  526. it's better because they say exactly that, let's select another leader, right,

  527. they say, less, select another leader and then go back there,

  528. the one that will bring us back to our comfort zone.

  529. I know this is very uncomfortable for us right now. Uncomfortable.

  530. That's why I procrastinate, right these uncomfortable emotions that we

  531. are going through right now. It's like, oh, every time

  532. comes always say the same thing, when always must obey

  533. and yellow. I think because we're so forgetful right that

  534. we need constant remind us that God says what he's

  535. after is not it's not what you think you can do.

  536. But it's just obedience to the Lord. It's not your skill,

  537. it's not your background, it's not your experience. God just

  538. wants you to follow him. We sang the song I

  539. will follow you always all day. I'll follow Jesus. So

  540. let's see. Okay, So now there is the type one people.

  541. Now I want to go to the type two people.

  542. This is the minority people, right, and I call them

  543. the we are well able to people. We are well able.

  544. And let's see where it says that. Okay, Now after

  545. you know, in between the conversation between the twelve spies,

  546. the ten and the the rest of them in verse

  547. thir te verse the t okay, it says Dan Caleb

  548. quieted the people before Moses and said, let us go

  549. up at once. It means immediately, let us go up

  550. at once and take possession, for we are well able

  551. to overcome it. Can you say that we are well able?

  552. We have to remind ourselves we are well able? Right?

  553. And how can how they had this confidence this perspective, Remember,

  554. it's it just not the perspective of the majority. The

  555. ten was the challenge versus me. Right, the giants are there,

  556. you know, can you imagine like if you remember Goliath,

  557. how tall was Goliath really tall? You know? Okay, say

  558. about nine feet? Like, so this is a giant that

  559. you're facing, right, someone that tall, really really tall. Okay.

  560. I've seen some really tall basketballers coming to somebit, and

  561. I'm actually quite scarier because when you straight look up

  562. to them, now, can you imagine like fighting a battle

  563. with them? Right? And so when we look at someone

  564. like that straight away, I will fuuse small already for sure, guarantee.

  565. Like grasshopper okay, and what we what do we do

  566. with grasshoppers? We pluck out their licks? Okay, I conferens,

  567. I confess I used to do that when I was young.

  568. Fuck out and get all that already, Confessor and confessor,

  569. the Lord helped the grasshoppers. I didn't want to kneel, okay,

  570. after that, repent that repent that, okay, So that's what

  571. you think you do the grasshoppers, right, And so they

  572. thought they were like grasshoppers in their own site. But

  573. you see, I like, what what the the right people

  574. have to say? Okay? Now you know that they had

  575. to exchange. Now let's go to numbers chapter fourteen. So

  576. in verse three they were complaining, right, they say better,

  577. let us go back better. You know, we select another

  578. leader to go back now verse five. Now this is

  579. what great leaders do. In verse five, then Moses and

  580. Aaron fell on their faces before all the assembly of

  581. the congregation of the children of Israel. But Joshua the

  582. son of None and Caleb, the son of Jeffuna, who

  583. were among those who had spied out the land, told

  584. their clothes. Okay, leaders, don't take your clothes, okay, not

  585. in public anyway. It's a sign of repentance. It's a

  586. sign of saying the people have sin. They tore their clothes,

  587. and they spoke to all the congregation and the children

  588. of Israel. And I want you to catch the pattern

  589. of their speech, because this is gonna be useful for

  590. us to monitor our own pattern of speech. Let's see

  591. what they say. They say, the land we passed through

  592. to spy is n exceedingly good land, not just good land,

  593. you know, exceedingly meaning perfect beyond your means, exceedingly good land,

  594. so good? How come you don't want to taste so good?

  595. And he says this in verse eight, if the Lord

  596. delights in us, and he will, then he will bring

  597. us into this land and give it to us, a

  598. land which flows with milk and honey. Verse nine. Only

  599. do not rebel against the Lord, nor fear the people

  600. of the land, for they are our br Their protection

  601. has departed from them, and the Lord is with us.

  602. Do not fear them. Can you see the stark contrasts

  603. of the way they speak. One is they say the

  604. people are too strong, and then what the Caleb and

  605. Joshua said, they are like our break. I'm gonna, you know,

  606. like piece of cake. I'm just gonna eat them like

  607. a piece of cake. And then they say, you know,

  608. don't fear the people. And evidently the majority had a

  609. great fear of the people. And I love this. Do

  610. you know this is one of God's promise to all

  611. of us. He says, the Lord is with us. You

  612. see their perspective now it's I see, you know, with

  613. the majority majority of us, right, it will always be

  614. the challenge and me so comparison challenge and me thinking

  615. thing challengeing, challenge wins because you are too small. Now

  616. with them, they are a bit different because they say,

  617. oh great, we're gonna look into this land. I'm gonna

  618. look at my challenge, and I'm not looking at me now,

  619. I'm looking at God. When you compare your challenge and God, right,

  620. who's bigger? I hope So I hope that becomes your

  621. reality because sometimes you can still say I think God,

  622. you cannot do this. You know, we limit God and

  623. saying God, you know you must do this for me.

  624. If not, then you're not real. We put God into

  625. a box and you know that his ways are higher

  626. than a waste, his thoughts are higher than your thoughts. Right.

  627. And then we say that God, you must only do

  628. it this way, But God say it's not have a

  629. different plan, right. But I think what's important and I

  630. hope you catch this is friends, when you put God

  631. beside your challenge, God wins. Amen. You must be able

  632. to now see that God wins over any challenges that

  633. you have, over your relationship, over your career, your difficult boss,

  634. very difficult. You're like, oh God, this pauser, but you

  635. got You're bigger. You can change not maybe that person,

  636. by change me, oh even harder. We always prayer, I

  637. got you change everybody else, right, And then God says, oh,

  638. but I want to change you all. I want to

  639. change you to be more like Christ, and you're like, no, no,

  640. no change. Everybody saw that my life is better. God

  641. is saying, no, I put all these difficult people in

  642. your life so that you can be better. Ouch. We

  643. always pray the challenging people go away, right, but God

  644. is saying, no, I put them, you know, Like Paul.

  645. Paul had a torn in his flesh, and he was

  646. a great apostle, great missionary, obey God. Right. Of course,

  647. he had his own history. He was sould before he

  648. became pau but then there was a time of a ministry.

  649. He had this torn in his flash. And we don't

  650. know what it is, ailmen or whatnot, but three times

  651. you pray to the Lord, and the Lord says, it's okay.

  652. My grace is sufficient for you. My strength is made

  653. perfect in weakness. So I think what we can get is,

  654. don't look at your thorns, don't look at your weakness,

  655. look at God. Look at God in all your circumstances.

  656. I say, God, You're bigger. And that's why our declaration

  657. now becomes so important. Right, That's why we come into

  658. this time of praise and worship, because we are saying God,

  659. you're bigger. God, you are good. Can you can you

  660. still say God is good when you've gone through a

  661. very difficult, disappointing part of your life. Can you say,

  662. and that is where God is really really ministering to us.

  663. I know sometimes it's the hardest thing, right when something

  664. has wronged you, someone has wrong you, and you're like God,

  665. I cannot when the promise seems very far, let me say, God,

  666. you know I still can say that you are good

  667. because you are with me. The devil will always lie

  668. to you that God has left you. God is no

  669. longer with you, not for for you. But you need

  670. to remember that God says I Jesus came to die

  671. for you and me. He didn't die of vain death.

  672. You know, I was ministering to another couple and this

  673. couple realer reala REALA is trying to change homes because

  674. bonam with a leader. Okay, real a very real. And

  675. so after praying and discussing, right, and we suggested another

  676. homes And then as we're discussing, she's like, oh, I

  677. also bonam with this leader. So then I can you know,

  678. in my mind right, I'm thinking any leader of Songam

  679. or Redela, because the problem is not the leader, no

  680. who's the problem? Oh you say she Okay, I didn't

  681. say anything, right, I did say she or she right?

  682. But many times we think everyone else is difficult, but

  683. actually the truth is maybe we are the difficult one.

  684. Maybe we are the hot one. You know, you have

  685. certain expectations of how things should be, how God must be,

  686. and then we become very heartened, right, and I pray

  687. that we will never never come to that place, all right,

  688. because you know, and you know the story, right, I'm

  689. gonna skip forward. You know that after that, they say that,

  690. after they did all this, now what is the consequence

  691. of this obedience? And there's you know, I say this, right,

  692. that delayed obedience. Right, So they were supposed to just straightway,

  693. going straight away, going take possession of the land, right, correct,

  694. That's what Caleb said, Let's go and straightway take the possession.

  695. Of course the people are like, no, no, let's tale

  696. our leaders. And then after that, you know, you see,

  697. anything that is a delay in our obedience is disobedience.

  698. That's why the title is this delayed obedience is disobedience.

  699. And I like this. Someone just said this recently, you know,

  700. and I thought it was so profound. He says, this

  701. delayed obedience isn't waiting on God. It's making God to

  702. wait on this. When we don't obey, you're saying, God,

  703. you wait, La, Who's God here right now? Me? Oh? God?

  704. When we don't obey the prompting els I did not

  705. obey the prompting that God gave me, I'm basically saying, God,

  706. it's okay, I think I know better than you. My

  707. self is better than you. Right, I think I know it.

  708. I know I have next week. Actually I don't know

  709. if I have next week. I don't know if I

  710. have next week, honestly, right, And so yeah, you know God,

  711. God's just speaking to Mi, La. He's actually this message

  712. is for me, Okay. I hope that he speaks to

  713. you as well. All right, now, there is consequences of

  714. the delayed obedience. Right, Let's read Numbers, Chapter fourteen, Verses

  715. eleven to twelve. All right, so you see our in

  716. verse ten, he says, all the congregens say to stone

  717. them with stones. Now they want to stone Moses Aaron,

  718. And the glory of the Lord appeared. God will come

  719. in right now. And the Lord said to Moses in

  720. verse eleven, how long will these people reject me. How

  721. long will they not believe me? With all the signs

  722. which I have performed among them? Can you feel God's

  723. hearts cry? Can you feel his disappointment? Can you feel

  724. his frustration? I think if I'm got right sorry that

  725. all of you know you and fella, you don't want

  726. to enter the fine. I have that much patience with

  727. my children, It's true, right with others, you know, it's like, oh,

  728. and then this is what the Lord said. This is

  729. what the Lord said in verse twelve. I will strike

  730. them with pestilence, and this inherit them, and I will

  731. make you a nation greater and mightier than them. And

  732. you will read onto notice right that you know as

  733. and this is something remarkable about the leader Moses. He

  734. could have just said, Okila, they deserve it, true or not? Friends,

  735. if you were in God's position, you will say, killer,

  736. they deserve it la right. Already, so many miracle signs

  737. and wonder's forty years bring you out of Egypt, and

  738. yet you still cannot believe me, right, cannot believe. So

  739. the sin of unbeliever is very great. No, friends, the

  740. sin of saying God I cannot take care. The sin

  741. of unbelieved the sin of rejecting God. That's what this

  742. obedience is. I'm basically saying, I'm rejecting you, okay. And

  743. of course Moses pleaded with them. And I like this

  744. because our leaders will always remind us who God is.

  745. Let's read verse seventeen. This is Moses's prayer, he says,

  746. and now I pray let the power of my Lord

  747. be great, just as you have spoken, saying, the Lord

  748. is long suffering and abundant in mercy forgiving iniquities and transgression.

  749. But he by no means clear the guilty, visiting the

  750. iniquity of the fathers and the children to the third

  751. and the fourth generation. This is our God long suffering,

  752. well not must you know, suffering for long long. That's

  753. what long suffering is. Suffer for long despite all the rejection,

  754. despite all the despicable things that the children has said

  755. to him. God and Moses reminded us of who God is,

  756. abundant in mercy forgiving iniquity and transgression. Would you forgive

  757. people like that if you had to lead the children is?

  758. Or would you forgive them? And I thank God we

  759. serve a mercyful God, abundant in his mercy really, you know, friends,

  760. God is so abundant no matter what kind of this

  761. obedience that we have done. Today, God is saying, if

  762. you repent before the Lord, he's abundant in his mercy.

  763. And I thank God that as I confess before him,

  764. he forgave me. Because you read on in verse nineteen,

  765. he says, pardon the iniquity of this people. I pray

  766. according to the greatness of your mercy. Not because they

  767. deserve it, you know, but because God is so merciful,

  768. just as you have forgiven these people from Egypt even

  769. until now long history you know of this obedience. Never mind,

  770. and this is what the Lord said in verse twenty.

  771. I have pardoned according to your word. But truly as

  772. I live, and all the earth should be filled with

  773. the glory of the Lord. Because of all this, men

  774. who have seen my glory and signs which I did

  775. in Egypt and in the wilderness, they have put me

  776. to the tests now this ten times and have not

  777. heeded my voice. They will certainly not see the land

  778. which I saw to their fathers, nor shall any of

  779. those rejected me to see it. I like this verse

  780. twenty four. But my servant Caleb because he has a

  781. different spirit in him and has followed me fully. I

  782. will bring into the land where he went, and his

  783. descendants shall inherit it. Amen. I pray that we will

  784. begin to have this different spirit, or we desire for

  785. this different spirit of Caleb. Do you want to be

  786. different from the majority, because the minority always sticks out right,

  787. even amongst Christians, because these are all Jews. You know,

  788. it does a method whether you just carry the title.

  789. But it's a different spirit that God wants to put

  790. in us. You know that. It says later on right

  791. in verse thirty four, I just want to give you

  792. this thought. According to the number of days in which

  793. you spied out the land, forty days. For each day

  794. you shall bear your guilt one year, namely forty years,

  795. and you shall know my rejection. God in his justice

  796. he will meet out the consequences. Can I tell you

  797. for every disobedience there is a consequence. One there is

  798. a consequence. And for the children of issue that men,

  799. they missed the promised land. They missed it. You know,

  800. the entire generation was wiped out. Only two six hundred

  801. over thousand men that generation, only two made it. Even

  802. Moses didn't make it only two made it, Caleb and Joshua,

  803. because they had a different spirit in them. Amen. So

  804. then after that rite, you know, it goes on to

  805. say that after that, the children is your right. After

  806. they heard all this, ready that God says, okay, bye bye,

  807. you don't have to go. Ready, they say, now we

  808. want to go. Now we will obey. Now, we'll pack

  809. our bags, Let's go this inlant now right now, now

  810. we will go. And then after that God changed his mind.

  811. He says it's okay, no need to go ready. No,

  812. God says, you don't have to go now go by.

  813. But the children of Israel again, God says, don't go,

  814. then you go. God says, go there. You don't want

  815. to go. Then God says, don't go there you want

  816. to go? Now, Hey, how many of you can identify

  817. with that? How you like me? Man? God says, don't go,

  818. then you want to go? Go says don't go, then

  819. you want to go now? Right? And so they went

  820. and they lost. They lost the fight when they should

  821. have just won if they are just gone immediately, obeying

  822. immediately instead of just saying all these excuses, and then

  823. they miss what God had promised them. Can we miss

  824. God's promise for all lives. Let me ask you that

  825. is it possible for us to miss our destiny in God?

  826. Very very possible. You see. God is so good right

  827. that he has this plan and a destiny and a purpose,

  828. a calling. If you're calling me her, no, he is

  829. calling you. But it depends on how we respond to

  830. that Type A or type B. Are you going to

  831. be the nevertheless always full of excuses or are you

  832. going to be the minority the one that says God

  833. says can I can? God says can because he can

  834. do it, not because I can do it. You see.

  835. You know what Joshua and Caleb say, It was our

  836. God will fight for us. He is with us, He

  837. is for us. He says that don't fear them, only

  838. fear who fear God? You know, in the nec forty

  839. days of prayer, it's all about fear. No, do we

  840. fear God or do we fear people? Right? I pray

  841. that there's going to be a new spirit of boldness

  842. and courage within us right now? Five quick thoughts as

  843. we and you know what is our breakthrough for obedience?

  844. Number one? Friends, I think we need to shift away

  845. from our focus on our feelings. Too many times we

  846. take action or don't take action based on our feelings. Right,

  847. And so God is saying, are you a man of

  848. feelings or are you a man of faith? Christians, I'm

  849. asking you women. Are you a woman of feelings or

  850. a woman of faith? Your actions will dictate that, like,

  851. oh no, I don't feel like it. That is feelings right,

  852. because I don't feel like it right? Ask us to

  853. do something, you know, open up your home for homes.

  854. I don't feel I'm ready, don't feel I'm ready. But

  855. the faith thing is to say, even though I'm not ready,

  856. God is with me, even though I'm inadequate. I don't

  857. know how cook. You know my house is a mess,

  858. But God, if you want to use my house, useler.

  859. That is faith, you know, very different, very different operation mine, okay.

  860. Second contents five to seven says is we walk by faith,

  861. not by sight. Don't let whatever you see because you

  862. don't remember the children the turn spies, They're like, we

  863. want to see how good the land is. So we

  864. are always dictated by our sight. But God is saying, no,

  865. walk by faith. Let everything that we say or do

  866. be by faith. Second point is this Let's begin to

  867. replace our excuses always cannot honor, but with an eternal perspective.

  868. And I want to read to you from Ephesians five.

  869. It says, look carefully, then how you walk, not as unwise,

  870. but as wise, making the best use of the time.

  871. Because the days are these are evil, friends, days are

  872. very evil. Days are very short. Okay, therefore, do not

  873. be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is. Aymen,

  874. Let's begin to take on an eternal perspective life here.

  875. You think about it. If you're twenty years old, you think, oh,

  876. I got fifty more years to live is very short.

  877. And I don't know if you have fifty years. Honestly

  878. I cannot tell. Right, my neighbor, she's probably about late forties,

  879. very young, still very long. Another way that you know,

  880. we want to begin to grow and be accountable for

  881. our obedience is to share it with someone. And this

  882. is why we have family here, right, We have family

  883. here because we then become accountable to each other. Amen,

  884. this is what it is. We become accountable to each

  885. other for our behavior. Because God is saying that in

  886. the family is where you grow in safety. But you

  887. also grow in challenges, and you know sometimes when your

  888. leaders speak to you warnings but in a loving way,

  889. is for you to grow. Right, So let's begin to

  890. you know, our theme for this year is disciple first.

  891. As a church right and discipleship is very uncomfortable with friends,

  892. It's very uncomfortable for many of us. Most of us

  893. want to say, Okay, I'm eighteen years old. You know,

  894. I don't need my parents anymore. I don't want account

  895. for my life anymore. Then suddenly you come to church

  896. and they're like, okay, can you submit to a leader

  897. who's younger than you? Like what I just try to

  898. get out of the system of accountability. Now you want

  899. me get into it as of accountability. But this is

  900. God's way of protecting us. Right. Let us consider in

  901. Hebrews tend and says, let us consider how we may

  902. spur one another to good works. That's what we are

  903. doing here in discipleship. We're trying to spur each other

  904. to good works, not because we gain anything out of it,

  905. but because you will gain something out of it, because

  906. God is interested in you to transform you, to make

  907. you more into his image. Amen. The fourth point is this, friends,

  908. we cannot do this on our own right. If you

  909. think that, Okay, now I'm convicted. You know I'm going

  910. to do this on my own. Cannot because right after

  911. this right you will, you might just stumble and fall.

  912. We cannot rely on our willpower we have. You know,

  913. I always joke this right. Our worn power is stronger.

  914. I won't do this, I won't do this, But our

  915. will power is just as weak. And so we need

  916. the Holy Spirit. Amen, We really really need the Holy Spirit.

  917. And pray to God and say it is God. You know,

  918. whatever that you desire to do right into righteousness, it

  919. is God, because it is God who works in you

  920. to will and to act according to His good purpose. Amen.

  921. And finally, is this In Hebrews chapter three, verse fifteen,

  922. it says this today, if you hear his voice, and

  923. I know some of you are very in tune right

  924. now with the spirit of God. You are hearing his voice,

  925. do not harden your hearts. Don't harden your hearts. Amen.
