Blessed are the Pure in Heart | Pr Jason Martin

You're listening to a message to go from at church.

We hope this message will light up your tea.

We'll like to watch a series halfway then start another show,

but I'm not a fan of that. Ready to finish it.

But even as I was preparing this, I was like, hey,

actually this ties in very much with fasting as well. Okay,

So I wanted to give you a recap before we

go into today's message. So the recap we are this year.

The team for this year is disciple first, all right,

so I get the slides up. Okay, So a recap again.

What is a disciple? A disciple learns from Jesus, lives

like Jesus, and tells others about Jesus. That's what a

disciple is, okay. And when we are going into to

the be attitudes, the berattitudes is Jesus one of Jesus'

I think most popular summons. And it all starts with

the word blessed. Blest are those right? So what is blessed?

And the next line, so blessed is when you have

a deep joy walking God's way. When you have a

deep joy walking God's way, so it does not mean

you're not going through tough times. It does not mean

that everything is going your way, but in spite of

it all, you can still smile because you know that

God is in control. If we are in control of

our own situation, and when things go wrong, we have

no one else to depend on. But when we depend

on God and things go wrong, we can still smile

because we know God is a good God and when

we trust in him, he will be able to bless us. Okay,

so that is blessed, and this next light. So this

was the few that we covered previously. Blessed those to

our poor in spirit. So this is when we surrender

our pride. Blest those who mourn, We surrender our lack.

We usually mourn when we are in lack, whether we

lost something, we lost someone. That is when we surrender

our lack to God. All right, Or we mourn our mistakes,

you know, or our sins or stuff like that. That's

when we surrender it to God. We don't allow guilt

to take control, right, So we surrender that to God.

Blessed are the meek. Meek surrender our strength. So you

don't only surrender your weaknesses, You surrender your strengths to

God and allow God to use your strength for his glory. Okay,

And when we do that, then we are emptying ourselves

of a lot of things. So when you empty yourself,

you become hungry. And when you hunger and thirst, God

fills it with his righteousness because you'll be less of

the world. So now God can come in and take

his place. Okay, So after You're filled with God's righteousness,

how does that look like? Next? So, blessed are the merciful. Remember,

so we had blessed at a merciful So that was

what I shed previously. So today I'll be sharing about

Blessed are the pure in heart? Okay, Blessed are the

pure in heart? You know, it's quite difficult to share this, actually,

each of them bered tides very difficult. And then I've

let the gig all the time, like, hey, how come

I started on this side? It's so so difficult. It

looks very easy, but it's it's tough in terms of it.

And so just a recap on Blessed are the mercyful.

Next line, So blessed are the merciful. Remember I was

talking about the good Samaritan. So what does mercy do?

Mercy sees the need mercy feels for it, and then

mercy acts. You take action, and mercy forgives. Because the

Samaritan and Jews are enemies, but there were Samaritan put

his differences aside. When he saw the need, he felt compassion,

he acted to help the Jew and ultimately that shows forgiveness.

All right. So when we are poor in spirit, we

surrender our weaknesses. We surrender our strengths to God. God

can then fill us with righteousness, which is mercy. Okay.

So this is what we covered previously. So today next line,

I don't think I will take very long, but I

think it can go deep. So I will look at

your faces. If you all look lost, then I will

try and put in a joke somewhere, try and help

it out. Okay. So, blessed are the pure in heart?

Blessed in the pure in heart. So before I go

any further, right, when you hear the word pure, what

comes to mind? Clean, summer, drinking water? All right? Think? Okay?

Think outside of church, la. Do you hear the word

pure used often in the world chemical reaction, gold, gold? Okay? Someone?

See the word pure? Is there what else? Sexual? Purity?

Very deep? Okay? But a baby all right, all right,

and when you pump patrol, there's different kinds of ron

right ron ninety five, ninety seven, ninety nine. You know,

the higher the number, the more pure it is, right,

the higher the quality less impurity, so pure in terms

of we know that we value purity, we value pority. Right.

So one of the things that was mentioned was gold, right,

So I wanted to sort of get us to understand

purity from the aspect of gold. Okay, So this is

a gold purity chart. Okay, so do you know how

for gold? Right? What is the standard for gold? They

call it as carrot. It's the same as diamonds as

well for gemstones. Carrot all right, so you will have

ten carrot, fourteen carrot, eighteen carrot, twenty two carrot, and

then you know the Bruno mass song twenty four carrot

magic you know, so twenty four carrot is the purest one.

So have you seen shops selling nine one six a

mass nine one six? Okay? So pop quiz right now,

how many carrot is a Muss nine one six twenty two? Correct?

See correct? It is correct? So now you know a

bit more on goal. Right, So gold it there is

the purity of gold. It shows like for example, if

it's ten carrots, right, so the goal is divided into

twenty four different components. All right, the more gold they have,

the higher the carrot. Okay, So like for example, ten carrot,

the parts of gold is only ten out of twenty four.

For fourteen carrot the parts of gold is seven out

of twelve, eighteen is three quarter, all right, twenty two

is eleven out of twelve, and twenty four carrot? Is

your percentage is? They will always say ninety nine point

nine because there will always be a margin for error.

All right, So we know that gold. How many of

you all wont ten carrot goal? How many are your

one twenty four carrot goal? You want twenty four carrot goal? Now? Okay?

Which is the strongest gold? Which is the strongest gold? Actually? Right,

the strongest gold is actually, yeah, the weak the less carrots,

the stronger the goal. Because gold is pure and if

the when it's very pure, it is not mixed with

any other metals. So that's why it is soft, you know.

And you know that the Bible says that a God

is purifying us like gold. Right, So the more we

are of the world, the more contaminants we have. The

more things of the world are williness, which makes it

very difficult for God to mold us. But if we

want to be so that is meaning you're being strong,

strong willed, You're not able to be molded by God.

But when we are twenty four carrot Christians, it means

God can mold us into whatever he wants us to

mold us. All right, So that is that is just

a side note in terms of right. Okay, So so

that is one aspect, So you know, a bit of

a gold right. So looking at the world today, do

you think the world is moving towards purity or impurity?

Impurity or purity impurity? Why evil? It's polluted? Okay, So

I'm engineer by training, right, So I like graphs, So

picture speaks a thousand words, right, So look at this,

I lomanded color a bit off. But okay, why Christianity

will always appear more extreme over time because God's standard

stays the same, but society standard keeps on dropping, keeps

on dropping. You know that last time there were a

lot of graphs which I stumbled upon us. Right. I

think before the fifties they had prayer in school, you know,

in school, they had prayer and because of that, right,

I mean, the society was at a much better place

once they removed prayer from school. Immediately you see all

the vice going up, you know, in terms of bullying,

in terms of crime, in terms of so many things.

And because of that, society standard also continues to drop.

And in today's world, when we're talking about purity, we're

talking about God's standard. And if you a simple thing

right right now, last time, how many of y'all grew

up watching RTM one, two three, maybe you got TV

three and then suddenly they had a TV. You know,

if you're fortunate in terms of that, othern't know that, right,

you had nothing else to watch at that time, right,

I think quite pure a the shows, right, you don't

see any anything that is impure in terms of that,

even if they had anything, probably their schedule it maybe

eleven pm and night or whatever it is. But right now,

in this day and age, you can get any sort

of content any time by anyone. So in purity right

is now at our fingertips. Right, we can like YouTube,

like Netflix, but what they do is they just put there,

oh this is eighteen. Then it's up to you whether

you want to watch or you don't want to watch,

or you go to cinema. If you go cinema and

they bleep out the word, people complain, No, hey, I

don't appreciate the full essence of the movie because you

cut certain things, you know. So it is people are

more interested in their in enjoyment than in purity, you know.

So now I got a second question. Okay, don't show

that first. Sorry. Second question, So, this is God's standard,

society standard. How do you think the church standard looks like?

How do you think the church standard looks like? How

do you think a disciple standard looks like? That's a

tough question, right, So next line, So is it like this?

How is the church upholding God's standard or are we

being pulled into the standard of the world. Because again

I put this here, right because I am part of

the church as well, and I call myself a disciple

of Christ as well. So that's why this graph for

me is like, ay am I moving more towards God

or more towards the world. So we may have started

off high. You think that a we are holier we

come to church on Sunday, you know, but against God's standard,

we don't compare ourself against the world's standard. You don't

compare yourself. Don't compare ourselves and say that A, I'm

not so bad as my neighbor. We should compare ourselves

against God's standard to say it, God, am I leaving

according to your standard or not? Right? So because of

this right the next light, we demand purity of others,

but not of ourselves. How many us demand purity? Like

for example, if somebody sells you gold you demand. Your

demand is that it's pure. But if you say that A,

do you put that same demands on yourself? Am I

living a life of purity? Am I making sure what

I watch is pure? What I speak is pure? How

I act is pure? Without purity, we cannot live a

life of mercy. Remember the Samaritan? What was in it?

What was it in for the Samaritan for helping the Jew? Nothing?

He did it out of the purity of his heart.

So if we do not have purity, everything that we

do is like what's in it for me? What's in

it for me? And how does this tie into fasting

and prayer? You know what is fasting and prayer? It's

about repenting and turning back to God, It's about seeking

a life of purity. It's like God, I want to

forsake something because I want to seek You, And that

is what purity is. So we demand like for example,

if somebody serves you, or even if you're Durian, is

this Durana pure? No black torn like I saw the

guy who created the black ship quite power? Yeah, well,

you you pay premium for purity. But is the church

pure our disciples as we as disciples? Are we pure?

Because if we are not, we are not potent. You

know that we are not valuable at all. The value

of purity is the thing that brings the value up.

If we are not living a life of purity, then

what's the difference of being in church or not being

in church? Right? So tough questions, tough questions, But again

these are questions that I'm dealing with as well. Okay,

so let's go into the verse. Okay, next, So, like

what I mentioned just now, blessed are the pure in heart,

for they shall see God. So does that mean that

those who are not in pure, pure in heart will

not see God? You know, that's a question never to

ask us. So, blessed are the pure in heart for

they shall seek see God. So I wanted to share

with your different version. If you have the message Bible

on your you version right, So next you're blessed. When

you get your insight world, which is your mind and

your heart put right, then you can see God in

the outside world. This is a different translation. So if

you say, like God, where are you in my situation?

Where are you in my this thing? Unless we are

pure and we get our minds and our hearts right,

then we can see God in our circumstance, in our situation,

in everything. I mean. This is uh yeah, it's a message.

Translation is an interpretation of it. Okay, So how many

of y'all want to see God in your outside world?

Not only when you go to heaven, but in your

outside world. I would want to, right, So today's that's

the introduction. So today, but no mind after this is

quite fast. So the question today is how do we

become pure? How do we become pure? Again? It may

not sound like a sexy word because how many you say, hey,

you want to be pure? You want to be I

think the teens last night they had X teens they

had talk about boyger relationship, which I'm sure they touched

on purity. So when you talk about purity, most of

the time you always talk about sexual purity, purity, but

there's so many other purity as well. Purity when it

comes to your intentions, Purity when it comes to your

business dealings, Purity when it comes to delivering work. You know,

if you if you go to a doctor who is

not pure or does not have the right intentions, he's

only in it for money, would you want go there, No,

you would want to go to someone which has the

right intentions, pure intentions. So like what that's what I mentioned.

We expect that of everybody else, but do we live

it out as well? Because we cannot expect somebody else

to live it out. We have no control over how

somebody acts or things. The only control we have is

over our own selves. And if we call ourselves disciples

of Christ, it says Blessed are those who are pure

in heart. So we are called to live pure lives.

So is it easy to live pure lives? Anyone can

live pure lives? It's tough, right, So in the world,

purity is a standard that means you're either pure or

you're not right. You're either twenty four Carrot or you

are ten carrot. There is a standard. But the good

news is that in God's world, God's word, purity is

a destination that we are working towards. Purity is a

journey that we are taking. God does not demand from

us to be perfect, but to head in the direction

that He has for us. So that is the good news.

So purity, don't worry. You don't have to be one

hundred percent pre twenty four carrot twenty four k Christian,

but you have to be at least ten point one tomorrow,

then ten point two the next day, ten point three.

We are moving towards purity. Okay, So how do we

become pure? Okay? There are few four points. So the

first one, purity starts with realization and repentance. The only

way to realize that you need purity is to realize

that we are in peal. You know, you can't help

someone who does not think they need help, because if

you're going to help someone who thinks they who thinks

they they will help, you know, like for example, somebody

with maybe a knife sticking out his arm, He's like, hey,

come I help you. No, I'm fine, I'm okay, no't

worry I'm okay, and you try and help. But unless

the person acknowledges that, yes, I need help. There's a

knife within me. I need your help to help me

take it out. Only when you do that, then can

you help that person. The same goes to purity. If

we think think we are okay. Hey, I tell you

I'm okay. I don't have a problem with purity because

I'm comparing myself against my neighbor, I'm comparing myself against

the world. Then we will never head down the journey

of purity because we didn't realize it that we have

a problem. Okay, So let's look at some of the verses.

So this verse Psalms fifty one, have mercy on me,

Oh God, according to your loving kindness, according to the

multitude of your tender mercies, blot out my transgressions, wash

me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me for my sin.

For I acknowledge my transgressions, and my sin is always

before me. You look at this psum is very clear

that the author says, I acknowledge my sins. I know

I messed up. I need you. You know who is

the author of this David? You know when He wrote

this after Prophet Nathan confronted him for killing you Riah.

That she Ba's husband was David Pierre. He was not pure,

but he acknowledged what he did wrong, and he was

on the journey towards purity. And that's was how he

asked God for forgiveness. He acknowledged that God, I have

done wrong, wash me thoroughly from my inequity, cleansed me

from my sin, for I acknowledge my transgressions, and my

sin is always before me. He knows that without God,

his sin can't be washed away. Okay, next line, so

this is also psund fifty one, verse ten. I think

this one. If you've been in church long enough, you

would have sung this song. Create in me a clean heart,

old ond and renew a right spirit within me. Renew

a step fast spirit within me. Cast me not away

from your presence, Take not your holy spirit for me,

restore unto me the joy of your salvation. Uphold me

my generous spirit. Then I will teach transgressors your way,

and sinners shall be converted to you. So once we

acknowledge that we have sinned, and we accept God's forgiveness,

then in turn we can then share to others and

they will then receive God's forgiveness as well. But unless

we do it, why would people want to listen to

us if they deem us as not pure. It's like, hey,

how many of your you like, your friends suddenly told you, huh,

you're Christian? I didn't know because your actions are like,

doesn't seem like Christian? You know. I hope nane of

us have that. But that that's the thing. Purity, right,

it attracts on like it it is not it is

It is like, it stands out. Purity stands out, and

Christians are men to be salt and like, which means

you have to stand out and only then it will

attract others. Because it will attract others not because we

are good, but it's because God is good and He

forgave us and he has made us pure. Okay, next line,

so Saysia. If we say that we have fellowship with

Him and walk in darkness, we lie and do not

practice the truth. You see, this is very important. If

we call ourselves disciples of Christians, but we walk in darkness,

we lie and do not practice the truth, then we

are not walking with him. But if we walk in

the light, as he is in the light. We have

fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ,

his son, cleanses us from all sin. If we say

we have no sin. This is when we say that, hey,

I don't have a problem with purity. If we say

we have no sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth

is not in us. If we confess our sins, he

is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and

to cleanse us from all righteousness. So first we have

to realize, hey, we messed up. All of us messed

up because we need to make sure we are benchmarking

ourselves against the right standard. Most of the time we

think we are okay because we are benchmarking ourselves against

the wrong standard. If we benchmark ourselves against God's standard,

we will always fall shot. But that's why we need him.

But if we benchmark ourselves against the world's standard, then

we will hit down the path where the world is

hitting right. And once we recognize that, then only and

we repent, then God will forgive us of our sins. Okay,

So there is point one. So point two purity renews.

So after you have recognize I got a problem, I

need God to intervene. Then God intervenes. What happens next

purity renews. Okay, so let's go into the worst Ezekiel

thirty six. Then I will sprinkle clean water on you,

and you shall be clean. I will cleanse you from

all filthiness and from all your idols. I will give

you a new heart and put a new spirit within you.

I will take the heart of stone out of your

flesh and give you a heart, and give you a

heart of flesh. I will put my spirit within you

and cause you to walk in my statues, and you

will keep my judgments to do them. This is when

our heart of stone is our ten k gold, our

ten k gold. It might be too stubborn for God

to use because we think we are okay. But God

wants us to be moldable. That's why he says he

will put a new spirit within you, and he will

give you a heart or flesh right, and then you

will keep my judgments and do them. So by our

own strength it is impossible, and that's why we need

God to give us a new spirit and a new heart.

If we do it on our own strength, it's tough.

It's not tough. It's impossible, Okay, next night. For if

the blood of bulls and goats and the ashes of

a hypher sprinkling the uncleaned santifies for the purifying of

the flesh, how much more shall the blood of Rice,

who true the eternal spirit, offered himself without spot to God,

cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God.

So in the Old Testament, before Jesus came, they offered

burnt offerings, all right. But in the New Testament, is

the blood of Jesus will that will cleanse our conscience.

It renews our mind, It transforms us. And it's not

a one of you know, it's not like a transformer

you're like immediately you can transformerry, it's a daily process,

which leads me to my third point. And this is

the part which we don't like. Purity refines because like

what I mentioned, it's not an immediate transformation. You go

to the gym osso it's not immediate transformation. Have you

gone anywhere even if you go to you after your

medical checkup, you change your diet, you transform immediately nothing,

there is no immediate transformation. So it is with purity

as well. It is a journey that we are heading towards.

So purity refines, and when it refines is when we

go through the fires of testing. So when they melt gold,

that's when the impurities will be taken out because it

is then either it surfaces or it sinks, right, and

then that's how the goal becomes purer and purer and purer.

And most of the time we think that, hey, if

you're going through times of testing, it's sometimes God using

us to build us up. How many of you all

have watched movies before where the movie the hero in

the movie had no testing one. I think it's a

very boring movie. Say, for example, Spider Man. Spider Man,

if he you know his uncle dian I, and then

he suddenly discovered he got powers and suddenly he had

to overcome his insecurity. No villain or you got no villain.

Then you watch like taly Wso it's like it's like

super boring, right, But at the end of the day,

you are rooting for the hero to overcome and become

the person that you expect him to be. And that's

what God what is doing to us. God is rooting

for us. He is rooting for us. Come on, you

can do this. You can overcome it. You can do it.

It is tough, but I am with you. Don't give up.

Don't give up. It is tough. But the same thing

it is for muscles. When you go to the gym

and you work out right, you know that your muscles

has to tear. It has to tear, and then when

it heals, that's when it becomes bigger and stronger. The

same way for our character as well. If we don't

go through challenges and we are tested, how will we

know that we will pass if we are not tested? Right,

So let's look at some verses next in this Greatly

rejoice though now for a little while, if need be,

you have been grieved by various trials, that the genuineness

of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes,

though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise,

honor and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ, whom,

having not seen you love, so you can see that

the genuineness of your faith, How genuine is your faith,

How genuine is gold? They have to test gold to

see how genuine it is. If you go and buy gola,

they just give it to you. Bro, trust me. Trust

me is genuine? And will you take it at faith value?

Maybe they give you a gold coin chocolate, you know,

he it looks like gold, feels like gold while you

open the wrapper. It's a chocolate. So how do we

know of it's genuine? Our faith isn't only genuine if

it is tested the same way that we went into

a primary school? Right stand the one you take the

exam you pass. You take the exam to pass one

right your standing one? Teachers didn't tell you that he

take the exam us because I'm satistic and want you

to be in standing one forever. No right, the teachers

want you to progress the same way. We know this

in the natural, but in the supernatural, in the spirituals,

sometimes we we when we go through times of testing,

we turn against God instead of turning to him, and

then we fail. You know. So this is one of

the verses God wants tests us so that we will grow. Okay,

next line, behold, I have refined you, but not as silver.

I have tested you in the furness of affliction for

my own sake. For my own sake, I will do

it for how should my name be profaned? And I

will not give my glory to another, because if we

do not give glory to God, who are we giving

glory to. It is either the flesh or the world.

And if we glorify our flesh or the world, that

is when we destroy ourselves. So when we read these

verse you sometimes you say, Hey, God's so insecure. How

come God is so insecure he wants glory only for himself.

God is not insecure. In fact, he's a loving God

because he knows. If we glorify anything else other than God,

we are on the path of destruction. Glorify money. Money

is the love of money is the root of all evil.

Because of money, we are willing to do impure stuff.

We are supposed to use money to help people instead

of use people to get money. Right, But if we

put God first and give him glory, then God. When

God is glorified, God can then use us to achieve

his plans and purposes. And you will achieve your plans

and purposes because God has a plan and purpose for

each and every one of us. Okay, all right, next one. Therefore,

having these promises, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthyness

of the flesh and the spirit, perfecting who holiness in

the fear of God. When you fear God, you will

do his will. If you don't fear God, you will

not do his will. As simple as that. And that's

why the refining Fire is to remove the fear of

the world and instead direct the fear God. You know

just now, right, even as I was preparing for this

right during worship, right, I'm not sure how many of

you all recognize or realized. So Jerome was up here

in Friant, right. And if you know Jerome and you

know the journey that we've been through, him singing that

loud and singing in all purity is a miracle is

a miracle. So when I heard him praise that way,

I'm like, dude, my worship is my worship as pure

as his. Am I conscious whether people hear me sing,

whether I'm out of tune or not. Am I conscious

if I'm singing out loud or out loud or not?

Because when I look at him. That's why after a

prayer time, I went and stand next to him, because

I'm like, man, I need to my heart needs to

be convicted, because this is him preaching to me without words,

saying that hey, you're talking going to preach about purity,

but are you pure? Because when it comes to worship,

that was unadulterated pure worship. So let's not have the form.

You know that sometimes right, the nine to one six

goal looks better than the twenty four k goal. You

know why because it is tougher, so they mold it

into jewelry and whatever it is. But the actual value

it is not there. Onn God still values twenty four k.

So we may be looking very good on the external.

But when we go through the refining fire, God's refining fire,

and our faith is tested, then right, all the cosmetics,

all the looking good, all the feeling good, all the

I know how to use the all the jargon. I

can speak Christianese very well. All that when you go

through the refiner's fire, when somebody is when you're under persecution,

you know. Which brings me to another story. So in

one of these countries where the Gospel is not openly

chat right, So this church was meeting, this church was meeting,

they were having services. Suddenly in the middle of the service,

soldiers barged in. Soldiers barged in, and the general of

the soldiers says, how many of you all are Christian?

How many of y'all say you are Christian? How many

of you all are followers of Jesus? You are disciples

of Jesus? Because what this, y'all are going against the law.

You know you're violating the law. People left because if

you admit what happens, you die. People started leaving. They

ran out, They ran everyone ran out at all, right,

there was only one guy left. The soldier walked to him, says,

are you a Christian? Say yes, I'm a Christian. Do

you know that you will be killed if you profess

that you're a Christian? Say yes? Then the soldier told him, okay,

now tell me about Jesus, because the world also wants

to see whether we are face value Christians or we

are pure Christians. The soldier was seeking for Jesus, but

he knew there's a lot of fakes and he was

looking for the truth. So the same thing for us

when we go through the refiner's fire, will we stand

up for what God wants us to stand up for

or will we back? Now? Will we have the fear

of the world or the fear of God? And that's

what dictates whether we are pure or not okay, And finally,

purity radiates like what I mentioned, right, it attracts. It

attracts the same way that Soldier was attracted to to

that one guy who was in the church, the same

way I was attracted to Jerome when he was worshiping.

It's the same way. It's purity, right. You can't fake it.

You can't fake it. You know, it's just pure. You

want to fake it, you can for a certain extent,

but then when the fires come, it'll be burnt. Right.

So there's a lot of verses, but I knew I

didn't have much time to go into it, but I

wanted to just put it in a table. So we

have a radiant relationship, which means purity deepens our intimacy

with God and sharpens our spiritual vision. You know, those

who are pure in heart will see God. Your spiritual

vision improves transformational influence. A pure heart cultivates wisdom, credibility,

and readiness to serve. So you can see those verses

there and wholeness in love. Purity brings peace, harmony, and

love that flows from the heart, not from ulterior motives.

When you have this kind of radiance, right, it is

so attractive that people will want to know what is

so different, and that is how important purity is. So

even as I draw towards the close, probably get the

band up. So the last light I know, I said

a lot of things. I just wanted to summarize it.

The path to purity. First we have to realize and repent,

and then God renews our mind, renews our heart, and

then he refines us because it is a journey. It's

just a journey to ards purity. He refines us and

draws us closer and closer to him. And while he
