  1. You're listening to a message to go from acts church.

  2. We hope this message will light up your day. Anyway,

  3. let's circle back to verse one, and it says they're right. Finally,

  4. be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.

  5. So it's important for us to understand. It says here

  6. you can be strong. But the other important thing is

  7. that it is not just strong in yourself, but strong

  8. in the Lord. So it's very specific because there is

  9. power in him. And as a second part, this might

  10. be start cutting off a little bit, Am I holding

  11. it incorrectly? It's okay. So yeah, there is also powers

  12. that are in there to prevent us from being strong

  13. as well, and that's what this whole passage wants is about.

  14. So it says, put on the full armor of God

  15. so that you can stand against the devil's schemes. For

  16. our struggle is not flesh and blood. And sometimes when

  17. we read this, we often think that it's a small

  18. little thing, not too important. Just put on gear up

  19. and then that's it. Right. And by the way, the

  20. title of my message today is gonna be flash on

  21. the screen gearing up for battle. Now, gearing up is important.

  22. That means you put on, nobody goes to war very

  23. casually dressed to some extent, right, you'll be equipped, right,

  24. otherwise you will not come home too safe. But of

  25. course here, as it is alluded to you, it's all

  26. about spiritual battles, not just in the physical. And interestingly enough,

  27. if you look at Efficient six, at the very start,

  28. it talks about children and parents you know, how they

  29. should behave talks about bond servants and masters and how

  30. they should operate as well before this whole putting on

  31. the armor of God business. Interesting right, Why is this

  32. important is because the physical stuff at the beginning of

  33. the instructions is also to be accompanied with the spiritual

  34. stuff at the end. They go hand in hand and

  35. they shouldn't be disconnec that. But sometimes you read you know,

  36. you just focus on the natural and forget that sometimes

  37. whatever happens in natural does have a role to play

  38. in what happens in the spiritual as well, and therefore

  39. we need to uh, like a better word, gear up

  40. or arm up to the right for the right battle

  41. to some extent, okayrakvar Yeah, So that's the reality of it, uh,

  42. And it's deeper than most of us can think. Sometimes now,

  43. you may ask, why is it, why is this all

  44. tied to discipleship? I will I will come to that

  45. in a bit, but just just bear with me for now. Now,

  46. this year has been a very interesting year for a

  47. lot of us. Uh. Globally, we've seen lots of strange

  48. things happening around the world. Uh. Some figures out there

  49. that are a little more vocal. You know, is uh

  50. you know has has is targeted killed, And of course

  51. people will say, oh, that's all just he deserves it,

  52. or this person is coming again. We you sometimes use

  53. natural things that happen, and also use natural reasoning for

  54. why things happened the way happened. Okay, we also see

  55. I just recently came from Melbourne, by the way, uh,

  56. And funnily enough, when I was heading to Melbourne, people say, oh,

  57. be careful, come back alive, and I thought it's funny

  58. and not funny at the same time. Just in case

  59. you're not aware, there's been some uh, something's happening there.

  60. There's some stabbings, there's some people carrying machetes moving around.

  61. And again Western world, first world country. Melbourne. I was

  62. there and there was some riot police on the Sunday.

  63. You know, all gethered up there and you think that

  64. these things only happen in wart On countries, but no,

  65. it happens there as well, and not very far from

  66. home as well. You know, we've got some incidences in

  67. the school, et cetera, but closer to home myself. This year,

  68. just to share aview I had within my family, we

  69. had about three operations, uh that that involved you know,

  70. going under as well. You know, it's so serious. Okay,

  71. my son went through pennicitist thing. And then a few

  72. weeks later, my mother in law had her camera, you know,

  73. the back, the back, the backbone here cracked. Okay, we

  74. were hiking and then I hear a brunch snap and

  75. then it sort of cracked, just like a tree branch cracking.

  76. So she went through surgery as well, one plate, pinsilator.

  77. She's fine, and then little more than that. A few

  78. weeks later, I also endergo a procedure to get my

  79. kidney stones. And long story shot, we're all alive and well,

  80. but there's a lot of physical things that's happening. And

  81. then even as that was happening, by the way, I

  82. flew out to the Middle East. Two days after my

  83. my my procedure. Uh, there's also a miracle in itself.

  84. But one week before the flying out as well, there

  85. were things that's happening. If you remember Doha, the the

  86. air base was attacked, that was grounding my flight out,

  87. and I was going to fly in one week later.

  88. So I was just on stand by and then long

  89. story short, I was there for three weeks, I came

  90. back and then there's another attack there as well. So

  91. again just sharing is very close to home for me

  92. at least or my family. Things that are being stirred up,

  93. things that happen what we call in the natural, and

  94. we think, okay, there's always reasons for this war, you know, Israel, Palestine,

  95. you know. But actually beyond that, what I'm trying to

  96. say is that you ought to also believe that there

  97. is something spiritual that's happening. Now. If this year wasn't

  98. a wake up call for a lot of us, I

  99. think we should wake up. We should wake up right.

  100. And this is how Paul sees it as well, right

  101. in Ephesian six. Like I mentioned, Oh by the way,

  102. just give you a bit of background. Aside from the

  103. introduction that Steve Passus Stephen mentioned, I'm also here, just

  104. like Paster Stephen as well civil engineer as well. To

  105. be more specific, the reason why I started with that

  106. is because I have this mind and this how I operate.

  107. I always need to understand why things happen the way

  108. it happened. I'm a researcher as well educator also certain

  109. of God all in one package. Okay, so all compress

  110. one package. But I tend to overanalyze things, and this

  111. is how I operate. Like I said, it's a it's

  112. a blessing and a curse at the same time. But

  113. why am I This is because I spiral down, you know,

  114. the wise house. More importantly, at the end of all this, right,

  115. I actually question myself what I can do about it,

  116. or what we can do about it collectively, even in

  117. spite of the things that's happening. And this is exactly

  118. also I think what Paul is going through, the calamities

  119. that we see, the natural things that he's seeing, the

  120. wars that he's seeing. You know, there is a response

  121. to it, and it's sometimes not the natural response that

  122. we often think it should be. And we catch that. Okay, maybe,

  123. Oh by the way, I'm a Saturday, a Sunday after

  124. the service guy. So it's a bit early for me

  125. as well, so please keep me awake as well. All right,

  126. I have had my coffee here, I forgot I left

  127. it on the coffee machine. That is already a physical

  128. problem anyway anyway, yea, so help me help me as well. Right,

  129. So we love Paul. He's walking with his people, but

  130. he wanted to wake up people as well in his community.

  131. And that's why he says the thing he says, right,

  132. because it is more spiritual than beating. And sometimes we

  133. dismiss things and thinking or it's just understood, mach it

  134. should happen, it's natural, it's expected, but it shouldn't be

  135. That's what I'm trying to say here. Okay, now back

  136. to this. I was struggle. It's not against lush and blood.

  137. And that's also a reminder sometimes natural things is not

  138. all just natural or physical. It is beyond that. Why,

  139. because there are things beyond different powers is operating now

  140. one thing I also have to mention and remind us

  141. God is operating. But at the same time, there's also

  142. another operator in the mix. Who is this the enemy

  143. aka the devil. His job job description is to steal,

  144. kill and destroy and that's his lifelong purpose in life. Okay,

  145. he's always doing, it's always operating. He's never resting. If

  146. you think you can sit down and rest, he's still operating.

  147. Similar likely like as well, God is operating the same time. Right,

  148. So when we begin to look at this, it tells

  149. us we also need to tough enough. We cannot always

  150. be okay. When it happens, we deal with it. Kind

  151. of a scenario, just like how in the soldier or

  152. the soldiers the military, they're always ever ready to go.

  153. So this is why I'm trying to say, hey, we

  154. need to be ready now. Just to share with you,

  155. I had a slide prepared with where our church is headed.

  156. Thank thank you, thank you mentioned and Waning who's prepared

  157. this some time back. But why I'm trying to show

  158. here as well. We've gone through a lot of the

  159. physical preparation. But the next seven years or you know,

  160. moving to a train thirty, there's a lot of things

  161. that needs to happen. But it also involves a lot

  162. of spiritual preparation. All right. So again simple message, but

  163. it's also a deeper message than the surface kind of

  164. a thing. All right, Why is it important this year,

  165. what's this year's team? Disciplesh it right, what's next? Revival? Okay,

  166. but Stallous Girl answers revival, evangelism, action and missions. Again,

  167. we can look at it or all very physical stuff

  168. that you gotta do, checkboxes, et cetera. No, but we

  169. have to understand you need to also enable it, fuel

  170. it spiritually so that it can be more effective or

  171. more successful as God intended it. All right. So just

  172. like how even Nihimaya during his time when he was

  173. building the wall, it may seem like a civil engineering

  174. kind of thing, right, but it's not. There's also spiritual

  175. stuff happens physical reconstruction, yes, but it le to also

  176. more spiritual growth. I think he's always communing with God

  177. as well in the process, not just you know, doing

  178. the day to day putting things together kind of thing. Right,

  179. And it's important. So it's all physical, sorry, spiritual as well?

  180. Is this Okay? It's a bit loose? Oops, thank you?

  181. All right? So yeah, so back up is what I'm

  182. trying to say. We are going into battle, and you

  183. got to be ready because if you're not ready and

  184. you're pot snoozing, you are in for a very big surprise.

  185. And it's not what we want to do. Okay, Okay,

  186. now back to Paul. Back to Paul. If you look

  187. at Paul I perpersially put this image up. He is

  188. one guy who is are It might not be appropriate

  189. because you know, why is this guy putting up photos this?

  190. But his language that he used in scriptures at all,

  191. what we call militant language. If you don't know what

  192. milaitant is, is always ready to go into war and battle.

  193. Sometimes you look at militant is always a very negative thing,

  194. but no, it's not. It's always being prepared and he

  195. has militant faith. Right. And if you read Second Corinthians,

  196. it talks about you know what they say, say for

  197. though we live in the world, we do not wage

  198. war as the world does. Okay. Second Corinthians remind us

  199. of that. What does it mean? You don't go into

  200. war with just tanks and battles in the natural. You

  201. don't bring rocket launches, RPGs, et cetera. Okay, you need

  202. to also bring the weapons we fight with are not

  203. weapons of this world. On the country is they have

  204. divine powers demolished strongholds, so spiritual weapons can also you know,

  205. win physical battles. As well. And Paul is like this.

  206. He always focus and he uses very soldier, military general

  207. like language in all his addresses. He's very very gorilla

  208. as well to something extent, you know, not not not

  209. not the ape, but you know what I'm saying, that

  210. guerrilla And if you look further, first Timothy here, I

  211. have it on screen as well. Paul tells Timothy, his

  212. son of faith to what does he say here? To

  213. fight the battle? Well again language, it's a battle fight

  214. it well right, not just natural. If you look at

  215. other scriptures, and I have this all up here again,

  216. I don't have time to go through everything, but you know,

  217. Philippines to Philammon, second Timothy and all that, you can

  218. see the words being utilized. Soldier, soldier, good soldier, now

  219. one serving as a soldier, et cetera, et cetera. So

  220. what this is tell you when we are believers, we

  221. are also call on the dress to become soldiers as well.

  222. So it's not just oh you know how we modern

  223. Christians thing so believe. It's just or someone who just believes.

  224. And then there's it. You are called to be a militant,

  225. you are called to be a soldier, and of course

  226. I don't mean like radical stuff, like you know, go

  227. and do what the other militants of faith do. But

  228. you need to be ready. It's the message here. You

  229. need to be ready, to be prepared because when something

  230. hits you, like what twenty twenty five look like, people

  231. were shaken, right, I think people are shaking. It's because

  232. they are not ready. My family, like I said, went

  233. to a few things. We of course we ask questions,

  234. but we were not shaken. We were ready to go

  235. on because I think we will also ever ready being prepared.

  236. And this is what I'm trying to say. We geared up,

  237. we are ready and prepared right now. This passage here,

  238. I remember my kids went through it. You know, the

  239. different parts, the different gear that is put on. They

  240. ever have a song for in ex kids, I don't

  241. know they still teach it here. But there is a

  242. few components, but more importantly the last component after putting

  243. it all on, and it's not just one or the other,

  244. it's everything. That's a mean message here. Okay, but let

  245. me give you a practical example of putting gear on. Okay,

  246. I'm jumping all the place because I'm not too well

  247. as well. I'm still coughing a little bit, and I have.

  248. I've been still having a little bit of jet leg,

  249. so my brain is over the place. I know, it's

  250. been funny, but it's okay. It's early in the morning,

  251. but it's okay. It will okay, help me here right now.

  252. I when I told you I was, I was in

  253. Melbourne for a while. I always tend to even though

  254. I'm traveling for work that was a work. I always

  255. want to continue my exercise regime inspired by mintion as well.

  256. No no, no, but jokes aside, I still try to

  257. find time to do runs or maybe even do sports.

  258. I enjoy record sports, right. I mean, I don't play

  259. squash as much anymore, but I used to play squash

  260. quite a fabit. But I was with some friends and

  261. they actually brought me to it's a big thing here,

  262. you know, the whole pickleball thing. It's also there. I

  263. don't play pickleball, by the way, but every time I

  264. do some sports, I would tend to ready myself just

  265. to ensure that, at my age, I don't get injured

  266. in the process. Okay, now, what do I mean by that?

  267. I normally have some some gods, an god like I

  268. said I'm all, okay, just in case you don't know,

  269. I'm all. So I put it on generally, and even

  270. when I traveled, I actually carry it along with me

  271. just in case I need to to to have it on.

  272. Of course, of water bottle water, appropriate tie, et cetera

  273. is given. But when he brought me to a place

  274. to play pickleball, by all, the way they play pickleball

  275. out in the night, nine o'clock out in the open

  276. and seven degrees is just crazy. I don't know why

  277. they do it. We otherwise, but they enjoy it, and

  278. it's nice but not too good for joints, et cetera.

  279. So anyway, I was ready, they gave me they brought

  280. me a beat, et cetera. And I thought to myself,

  281. once I'm already, I realized I forgot to put my

  282. guard on. I left it in the car not too

  283. far away. But you know, it's just on all of

  284. those things, you think to yourself, can I do without it?

  285. Or we can? It's okay, I can, probably will not.

  286. It'll be too bad, right, it's only a short a

  287. few wax and then and then you'll you'll be going

  288. home and all that. But after fifteen minutes, fifteen minutes

  289. of whacking, or even after the first ten minutes, I

  290. actually felt something. Then I thought, okay, this is not good.

  291. This is not good. But Morrows story is sometimes we

  292. have the gear and the tools in our hand, right,

  293. God has prepared us. It's not about just looking for

  294. things and putting it on. It's always already there. God

  295. is prepared for it. But do we put it on

  296. is the question? Or do we sometimes out of inconvenience

  297. like my inconvence, like I want your gear up and

  298. ready to good people waiting for me. But it could

  299. be easy to say, bro chilla, are going to the

  300. car and get it, But I didn't. Right, And this

  301. is where, like I said, we suffer the consequences. Right,

  302. And Paul here is trying to call us to gear up,

  303. to armor up, because we need to be ready. If

  304. you read efficient spect ephicients, right, you read ephicients six

  305. thirteen to seventeen. Therefore put on the full armor. Why therefore,

  306. because everything that we talked about that he mentioned is

  307. a reminder that we're in a spiritual battle. Therefore we

  308. do this. The devil is scheming. Therefore put it on.

  309. There is spiritual darkness in play. Therefore we do this

  310. and not just one piece, all the full armor, right,

  311. Like I said, everything on. I got the budget on,

  312. I've got the correct tire, the shoes as well, non

  313. marketing shoes, et cetera. But I just decided to be

  314. lazy to go and pick up my guard. And if

  315. I suffered it all right, Because you must understand, full

  316. battle requires full gear. Right, so turn to your neighbor

  317. and say put it on, because that's an active, active

  318. thing to do, and you need to gear up. They

  319. way say gear up? You need to gear up? Right?

  320. Why is this important? Because the purpose of all this,

  321. if you haven't caught all that, is to stand firm.

  322. You think standing firm is easier right when somebody comes

  323. to rushing at you, right, if you just stand like

  324. like whatever, right, you will fall right. I should to

  325. put up some videos, but I thought sometimes videos might

  326. take a bit of time. I had this picture of

  327. three hundred and over are gearing up and he's rushing

  328. at them, although arguably their gear is very minimal because

  329. they want to show their you know, apps and all

  330. that kind of thing. But put it on, right, put

  331. it on? Now? I put out this up particular slide

  332. up here. It's just a summary of the armor, the

  333. full armor. But the disclaimer is this full armor, it's

  334. not like usually, uh you know the back is actually

  335. the back is very bare or don't know. By the way,

  336. it's only in front. I'll explain why white. That's important.

  337. Now just to run to real quickly belt the truth? Okay,

  338. I put up another slide for the truth is the

  339. next line. The question is if you think we have

  340. it on, the question is are you actually standing on

  341. God's truth? That is the belt of truth? Right? Do

  342. you align your thoughts every day, your actions every day

  343. with God's word? Do you reject lies as you should?

  344. The false teaching is the deceptions that amy truths that

  345. you do. You prioritize speaking, not just speaking, but living

  346. with integrity, like how it's intended right, because if you're

  347. not committed today, you will not be committed tomorrow. What

  348. we want to mean by that is sometimes when uh oh,

  349. let's go, it is what's accepted, right, let's go. It

  350. is what's relevant, what feels good, what seems good, what

  351. is cool. And you must understand that it may not

  352. be the truth, but you go by that right and

  353. the funny thing enough, right, you know belts what the

  354. physical sense they meant the whole everything together? Right, you lose,

  355. everything falls down and you don't want to be caught

  356. not having a belt on. But that's important as well,

  357. because the truth is what binds everything to right. When

  358. the belt of truth is not there, everything falls apart. Right,

  359. of course, let's move through real quickly. Again, it's not

  360. about Doingtroyes. I leave your pastor to do it, but

  361. just want to run through very quickly. Breastpread of righteousness?

  362. Is your heart guarded? It's there to protect your heart.

  363. Are you living in obedience every day in God's will?

  364. Do you pursue righteousness? Or do you compromise? Right? Are

  365. you quick to repent? It is a lifestyle, guys. Right

  366. you may claim now sometimes righteousness you claim it. You

  367. know God's grace is there, you claim it from him, right,

  368. But do you pursue it? Is the question here? Right,

  369. because sometimes if you're living it, we all feel in

  370. the Holy Spirit, we know that it's a gift, right,

  371. and we all come under compression. We understand that that

  372. problem and we sometimes it's not about just standing, but

  373. we fall. We are falling people. We fall right, But

  374. the question is do we get back up quickly? Do

  375. we still continue to obey whether we're vulnerable or not.

  376. Do we still pursue? And this is important because it's

  377. all from the heart. If your heart is not right,

  378. you were easily fall or you may not even repent

  379. very quickly even though you realize it and God shows

  380. to you right. And that's the problem here. That's why

  381. is to protect your heart. And that's why everything we

  382. say needs to come to heart, even in the physical sense.

  383. You know, engineers like you know we have to have

  384. We need to not just learn about ethics, you have

  385. to feel ethics do the heart is must you're right

  386. before you can practice it right. So that's why it's important.

  387. And the breastplait is there to guard your heart. So

  388. the questions are there for you to reflect. Let's move quickly.

  389. I don't have time. I'm not meant to go into

  390. ready with this, but let's go on. Right. Gospel a piece.

  391. Are you walking in peace? Do you peace not with God,

  392. only peace with your brothers and your sisters as well? Right?

  393. Do you carry the Gospel everywhere you go? Are you

  394. ready to stand firm in your faith? And you maintaining

  395. faith as the trials come along. And funny thing about shoes, right,

  396. you don't wear it is your pain. Who I imagine

  397. playing squaw shaven? Right without your shoes on, it's gonna hurt.

  398. So what this reminds us of us is that as

  399. you operate without the shoe, even though you might thing

  400. it's a small thing. You can be doing what you

  401. can do, but you'll be hurting in the process. Right,

  402. So are you at peace of people? Because you can

  403. be doing something but I cannot work with him or

  404. there's no peace or no piece of God. Again, you're

  405. not effective. And that's why the shoes of piece is important.

  406. Shiel of faith? Was it for a to deflect the

  407. enemy's attack, to say, to trust God and his promises.

  408. This is what all circumstances, I will still remain firm.

  409. Now there's all things that we passed seven. This mession

  410. is now doubt, fear, discouragement. All that is real things.

  411. The shield is to deflect. Right, he's going to be

  412. shooting darts that you. Arrows are coming. What do you do?

  413. You don't just leave it or leave it aside because

  414. it's heavy. Almost people they don't like carry shoes. I know,

  415. because it's heavy. I got all this other stuff for really,

  416. why why they carry the shield? You need to and

  417. more importantly, when we exercise it, it's designed to ensure

  418. that nothing penetrates. True. Also, a first line of the

  419. first before it goes to your heart as well, so

  420. therefore is to deflect fiery. That's fifth and sixth one

  421. helmet of the salvation. Protect your mind, similar like the

  422. breastplate is to protect your mind. Right to be confident

  423. no matter what it is. Sometimes Satan will guilt you. Right,

  424. you must understand your salvation is still secure, everything is

  425. still there. You need to understand there's no condemnation. Please

  426. do what you're called to do. And this is important.

  427. That's why you have to have the sum of salvation,

  428. salvation there with us. And lastly, and the most important

  429. one is that we have to sort of spirit. Are

  430. you using God's word again? I'm not talking about reading

  431. the word or always have the word we can bring

  432. it along with us. Are you actually using the word

  433. as you should? This is a sword, you know. Are

  434. you declaring God's promises every day? Right? Are you speaking life? Uh?

  435. And funnily enough, you know in the in the physical sense.

  436. The sword, where does it go? It goes around your belt, right,

  437. so it goes hand in hand with the bett of

  438. truth as well, right, truth and the word of God.

  439. The sword helps you the compliments that helps you fight

  440. battle more consistently, all right. And last, but not least,

  441. all those equipment. Funnily enough after that is Westing talks

  442. about prayer. Prayer binds all this together. Prayer works in tandem,

  443. and it complements the entire armor of God. Now why

  444. have I gone to all this? Like I said, it's

  445. only an introduction. I've never gone to my message yet,

  446. all right, But that's not the focus here. The main

  447. thing for us to understand to go into battle. Sometimes

  448. we feel that, oh, we come to church once a week,

  449. done regular, I'm ready for battle. There's a myth. Guys,

  450. are we going to be battle ready just by coming

  451. to church once a week? Right? No? No, no, right.

  452. But sometimes we say that, oh, you know, I don't

  453. get fair enough. You know, I I you know, I'm

  454. not prepared enough. But the bottom line is, if you're

  455. talking about the future, that's what we mentioned. What we

  456. need to do so much stake. Every soldier has to

  457. do his part. Every believer has to do his part.

  458. You cannot just rely on past, Steven or whoever else

  459. is here to to encourage. You're not in your homes leader.

  460. You need to take this on seriously, guys. And it's

  461. not just physical right right, you need to understand you

  462. cannot be innor if you're ignorant in the past, it's

  463. fine forgiven. Please, we love you so much that you

  464. need to understand that this is your role to play.

  465. You need to take on yourself otherwise you'll be in

  466. this next photograph over here. You're gonna walk into better unprepared.

  467. I say, what picture of a person who goes I've

  468. always have done that before. Right, you're going to examine like,

  469. oh crap, I don't know. I'm not gonna do so well?

  470. And and why because sometimes we go in there unprepared?

  471. Is you asked for it? Ler? Right? Because you didn't

  472. do your part? Are we going to battle like that? Right?

  473. Because you walk into bad without all your gear on?

  474. What do you expect? Right? What do you expect? So

  475. this is a warning. Now let me just come back

  476. to all this as well. Even the time when when

  477. when when? During Paul's time, right, when when and even

  478. when people following Jesus and all that, there were so

  479. many miracles that happen. I'm gonna go to X nineteen

  480. for a while. You can see God the extraordinary miracles

  481. through Paul right, even handkerchiefs, aprons and all that. When

  482. they would touch, miracles happen or even do anything, you know,

  483. just touch right as he walks, the shadow casts over

  484. the person. The person's already healed, you know. And then

  485. people thought that, oh, these are things that I can

  486. do natural, right, natural things that I can do to

  487. replicate it. So some of the people back then they thought, okay,

  488. let's just try all this out. Let's be a quick

  489. but a quick buck in the process to see whether

  490. I can do as you know Paul did as well.

  491. Of course, we all know it didn't work. If you

  492. look at verse fourteen, seven sons of the Jewish high

  493. priest named Skiva were doing this. They were trying to

  494. copy Paul right do the things that he does. And

  495. what happens after that? Right? One day, the spirit, the

  496. evil spirit, even the evil spirit, understand this, you all Jesus,

  497. I know, Paul, I know, but who are you? So

  498. you can sometimes be doing the natural, we come here,

  499. we do what we do, but spiritually you're not really

  500. doing what it's supposed to be doing, not really gearing

  501. out spiritually, and that robs you of the actual miracle itself. Okay,

  502. And the funny thing about this story as well, if

  503. you read on at the end, they actually fled, right,

  504. and they left naked. We're talking about putting on Yeah,

  505. how many knows that once you leave without any clothes on,

  506. you have lost the battle a day. I'm quite sure

  507. they've lost the battle, right. I Mean, it's funny, it's cheeky,

  508. but I think it's a god's sense of humor. But

  509. they ran out naked and bleeding. They were hurt. So

  510. please do not do things in the natural without being

  511. spiritually prepared, because you sometimes can't be hurt as well.

  512. And that is why it's so important to not go

  513. in unprepared, right, because if you go unprepared to fight

  514. spiritual battles, you will be heard. Now, what's the difference

  515. between Paul and these guys, right? The main difference is

  516. that they don't have general relationship with God. Right, they

  517. came up do all the things that they've seen, mimic

  518. parrot and everything, but nothing is going to happen because

  519. it's just face value. So it's spiritual. It's very spiritual.

  520. Now again, if you didn't understand why I'm saying here,

  521. or if there's one thing they need to take away

  522. from today, is that it is spiritual. Everything is spiritual,

  523. and you need to have some urgency to take this

  524. on seriously because it's not just a feel good message today.

  525. It's about you getting prepared. And nobody can prepare for

  526. yourself except you. Okay, And again, you cannot think that

  527. now if you're in, if you pass your trench, and

  528. if I feeling all good and everything is hunky dory,

  529. as I don't know why I say hunky dory, but yeah,

  530. everything is all good, right, And if you haven't hit

  531. any brick walls or no calamity has come your way,

  532. no trials, good for you. But can I also warn

  533. you that sometimes war is coming, right? War is coming,

  534. and it's not not talking about war between men versus woman,

  535. women versus man versus men, the kind of thing, but

  536. it's really spiritual. War is coming, right, and we are

  537. not fighting against flesh and blood. Why because the real

  538. enemy here, like I said, is the devil. He's always kiming.

  539. He's out to destroy you. You know what destroy is

  540. wipe out, wipe out. He will come to you spiritually.

  541. He will attack your faith, right, your hope, your joy,

  542. your identity, right, intimacy with God. What does that mean?

  543. I spoke a message before about you know, drawing close

  544. to God, right, and sometimes drawing close to God is

  545. just having intimacy. We are built for intimacy. We're built

  546. for relationship, human sense, human to human. If you like somebody,

  547. will love somebody, your spouse, for example, You want to

  548. spend time with the person. Right. If you love God,

  549. you want to spend time with God as well. Right.

  550. And intimacy, by the way, but the devil can rop

  551. that of you as well, And that's scary because he

  552. will attack the intimacy with God. And you wonder why

  553. everything is not falling into place. So battles in the

  554. physical is serious. Battles in the spiritual is also equally

  555. as serious. Okay, So what I'm trying to say is

  556. that you've got to walk prepared, You got to fight

  557. back even sometimes I have to say right now, I

  558. am saying that if someone pushes you or other attacks you, you

  559. gotta attack back. But before the attack comes to you,

  560. you need to be ready. Otherwise, like I said, you

  561. may follow before you have to then put it straight

  562. for to get up, and you I a ready mentioned

  563. to you right. Enemy will look into you, attack your identity.

  564. He will always uh you know, even recognize the scenes

  565. that you have. God calls you by your name, seize

  566. your sin, but still chooses to call you by your name.

  567. The enemy is the opposite. He knows your name, but

  568. he will tend to address you by your sin. You say,

  569. he's very subtle, you know, by the way, right, sometimes

  570. you think better it's always this big, tough No, it's

  571. always very subtle things. But that sparks and starts, you know,

  572. breaking down what you stand for, and all those things

  573. that I mentioned to the gear and all that that

  574. we prepare ourselves would then come crumbling because if it's

  575. if you're not really right, you see, even even for him,

  576. you need to know know God. Otherwise yeah, you you

  577. you will just fall over. Okay, So why is it important?

  578. Because when you understand this, when you're actually attacked, you said,

  579. I've read the book book, I understand what the book

  580. is not today, enemy or Satan, I'm ready for you.

  581. God's power is you know, greater in he that is

  582. in me than the world that is in Sorry, that

  583. the one that which is the enemy. Right, it's John.

  584. You need to understand that God's power is more and

  585. sufficient to enable you to do greater things. I am

  586. a chosen child of God. I have the full armor

  587. of God. Right, come make me even challenge the enemy.

  588. I'm ready. So I shed a view a lot of

  589. things that happen, at least in my personal space. We're ready. Funny,

  590. funny story. Right. We all sometimes pray prayers like this.

  591. It just this year. My wife is just by the way.

  592. Last year we pray, why am I this year so cruisy?

  593. And are we doing what's right? Why is God not throwing?

  594. I mean, why is the enemy of throwing? That said this?

  595. I mean careful when you say those things. You know,

  596. five feures really hard. But we're ready, right, We're already.

  597. So next night, I'm not asking to pick a fight

  598. with the enemy by asking to be better ready when

  599. the fight comes to you. That's the main thing, right,

  600. Be preparative to fight is the main thing. And why

  601. is it important is because when the fight does come

  602. to you, and we cannot avoid that. It will come

  603. to you. You will not then run away, right, I

  604. mentioned to your right armor. It's not in the front

  605. you run. What happens, you're fully exposed. You're fully exposed.

  606. So it's time to fight in the spirit. But it's

  607. time to be ready in the spirit. Right, what does

  608. it actually mean? Again, We're not warring against flesh and blood.

  609. It's not a flesh thing. We're warring against spiritual realm.

  610. So therefore, you will speak the word the truth, regardless

  611. of the outcome. Right, regardless of what's going around us,

  612. you will still continue and maintain step, maintaining step fast

  613. whatever you see. Even it's okay, it's okay, I will

  614. still speak the word. I'll still speak life. I will

  615. still speak the Word of God, regardless of even the outcome.

  616. And that's what you need to do when you are attacked.

  617. And that's what you can only do when you are

  618. prepared to fight. Right again, you're not fighting against flesh.

  619. You don't fight yourself, even we fight with the power

  620. of God. Right, Stop fighting your feelings, stop fighting your thought,

  621. stop fighting you know, your flesh. Things that people post

  622. on social media sometimes you get to really round up.

  623. Why is all right? Rounded about that? Right? Stop fighting

  624. the physical people, physical men. It may be spiritually related.

  625. And this is what I need you to catch today,

  626. is to go in with the insight that it is

  627. spiritual and that God has also prepared you with an

  628. arsenal to fight it. The tools are in your hands.

  629. The tools are in my car as an example, but

  630. you need to take it out to defend yourself. Don't

  631. leave it there. Don't ever forget where you put it right,

  632. because the truth matters. When you get hit right, you'll

  633. be very confused distracted. The enemy is always scheming when

  634. he's got plan A, B, C, D, E FG, not

  635. just one mode of attack. But are you ready for

  636. all angles? Right? It's not gonna stop. He's not stopping.

  637. You think it's gonna off day. I think it's Christmas

  638. that he's like they take off day. No, he's all

  639. twenty four to seven. You know, while you slumber and sleep,

  640. he's still at work. And that's why it's important to

  641. gear up. You know, soldiers write they at war they

  642. sleep with the packs and the equipment near them. Why

  643. is that so so that they're ready to jump into battle?

  644. Sometimes they're in to practical say, I'll just leave it on, right,

  645. even though it uncomfortable. We all know it's uncomfortable, right,

  646. But there's the reason why you do that. Now, let's

  647. break it down. Let's break it down, okay again verse

  648. ten back in west ten Again, be strong if you

  649. have a Bible so you can highlight circle, be strong,

  650. be strong? How put on active? You know? Put on

  651. put on what fool? Oh? Oh god? Not just one piece?

  652. Not just what it was convenient. I was joking, I

  653. mean talking about dressing up. Recently, I went to Melbourn.

  654. I told you, right, you know, to go to surf

  655. in Melbourne, right there, have to go and pack all

  656. my gear for those guys who travel the court, shoes

  657. are the hardest to travel with usually. Yeah, so I

  658. asked pastor Joe, is it family's on there? You don't

  659. know famies anybody? So full gear? Right? And sometimes it's

  660. inconvenient to do the full Please do the fool. Why

  661. do all this is because you can then only take

  662. the stand against not just the enemy, his schemes. It's

  663. always very very very uh, it's always scheming. Now, before

  664. we all think that this devil is like I wat

  665. saw Tom and Jerry movie, some of Jerry cartoons. Okay,

  666. then sometimes you see this devil and this angel on

  667. one side, and it's always like a devil with pitchfork

  668. and then very very tight spandex red color whispering words

  669. in the Devil's not a devil in the Bible in

  670. Revelation it talks about him as the accused of the brethren.

  671. Why accuse of the brethren, Because like I said, he

  672. knows your name, but he choose to cause you by

  673. your sin. God knows heavy Father knows your name and

  674. calls you by your name. Even though he knows your sin,

  675. he chooses to right. So one always spin the truth

  676. and call out the lies. I mean, use the lies

  677. to to to to to call you out because he

  678. accuses you. Right, is the word scheming, is crafting. The

  679. word crafting crafting you got a negative connotation to it

  680. is to deceive? Right, It's always cunning ways it was cunning.

  681. My son is very cunning and not in the negative sience.

  682. But yeah, he's always looking for ways to do things

  683. short the cut. He is always looking for ways to

  684. attack you always. Now, let me be clear, he that

  685. was very clear. So you have to be very clear

  686. as well, because he wants to distract you. And like

  687. I said, it always the small things that that will

  688. throw you away. Good thing about it, we know the

  689. devil's playbook or his his modus operandi. He's always distracting,

  690. he's always attacking, he's always attempting, attempting you. And lastly

  691. he just repeat and reads the whole thing cycle again, right,

  692. and this is ongoing. In verse twelve, just now you're

  693. read for our struggle, it says, yeah, this is our struggle,

  694. not when you struggle. It's just our struggle. That means

  695. it's an active thing. If you're not struggling, it'll come

  696. to you. For our struggle. It's ongoing. It's not just

  697. one sof So Paul is just in plain and simple

  698. English asking you to get ready because it's coming. It

  699. is coming. Now I'm gonna start winding down already. Now

  700. what does it mean by his schemes? Right? Just for example,

  701. this morning in worship, you know, I'm still getting used

  702. to a new song. The slight is a bit slow,

  703. so I got a bit distracted, right, And that is

  704. the devil. I mean, I don't know it's something spiritual,

  705. but It could be. It could be so to rop

  706. you away from your worship of God. Just saying, just

  707. saying right, just saying could be you know sometimes we

  708. uh kids are screaming. I come to church speaking the way,

  709. I'm like, oh God, it rubs you again. Could be

  710. the enemy, could be an enemy, could be right, I'm

  711. sleep deprived, et cetera. I'm distracted, I I I I

  712. have people something to say wake up. Or I ran

  713. a mariton this morning. I don't come to church. Uh,

  714. you know, I don't mention it. But it could be spiritual.

  715. I know it's a physical problem, but it could be spiritual.

  716. Oh I go to attend another in another time zone.

  717. So if that, if any you know, again you have

  718. the question is how is it really God or is

  719. it really the enemy creeping in to steal, kill and

  720. destroy subtly because it's distracting small pieces. Let's say obedience

  721. of giving. I'm gonna want to give what or something

  722. hit you can't hit something, and then you're like, oh man, God,

  723. can we defer this a while longer? Or my favorite,

  724. my favorite, you know, when I'm fasting and praying, then

  725. somebody brings back some some or the boss say, oh,

  726. let's let's let's let's uh, let's go for me? Right, God,

  727. how do I obedience? You know he's attacking your obedience again.

  728. I'm not saying that it's all spiritual. It could be.

  729. It could be right and always do is just like

  730. my example, I could say, boss, I'm fasting, I gotta

  731. see what But you know, your your obedience may be

  732. attacked or you know, or go out for drinks and

  733. all that temptation. You know, it's just it's just a

  734. small small socializing socializing. He will always attempt you the

  735. way I'm just saying. You're saying sometimes we can always

  736. spiritually visualized things as well. But what I'm trying to

  737. say is that everything could be. But why not check it.

  738. Don't just dismiss it the events that are happening in

  739. your life circle around you, even in Malaysia globally as well,

  740. just check it. Don't dismiss it that, oh, it should

  741. happen the way it happened because it could kind of

  742. be spiritual, right, But don't go overboard as well that

  743. even football is spiritual. Just check it. It could be,

  744. it could be. It's what I'm trying to say here

  745. now I'm going to end here with a short one

  746. most like. So the purpose of why we need to

  747. fight back is all that is there. Firstly, is to

  748. ensure it's for your own freedom to liberate yourself right,

  749. your arm up, gear up, so that you can operate faithfully.

  750. Your hope and enjoy and identity and intimacy course is secure. Right.

  751. He will not be able to attack you because you

  752. every piece in place, and therefore there is liberty on

  753. how you can operate. That's why when things hit you

  754. as well, you can still operate. You will not be

  755. easily uh, you know, pushed over to some extent, all right.

  756. More importantly, the freedom here is not just for yourself.

  757. Sometimes we think always about yourself, all right, And I'll

  758. share a little bit here. You know, I never thought

  759. of myself doing what I do today, at least not

  760. from a not from this leadership perspective law if you

  761. ask me where. By the way, I'm just commissioned as

  762. a pastor this this year. It's a new thing for me.

  763. It's a new it's a new I'm not used to

  764. this again. I still say I can operate without a title,

  765. but it reminds me again of the things that's happened

  766. in the past, that God has prepared, some thing's made,

  767. some things in line to allow me to operate how

  768. I operate. Okay, now let me share. I told you

  769. I was. I was back in Melbourne for a while.

  770. I actually had a chance to connect with one of

  771. my leaders who I I I who who who actually

  772. brought me to to something ex that kick started my revival.

  773. Before that, I was a rascal. I had to admit.

  774. I was five from God. I rediscovered or I rekindled

  775. with God again, rediscovered God again in my uni life. Uh.

  776. And I had a very persistent friend that kept knocking

  777. and inviting me. Okay, I get how come to come

  778. to church one day and then from then on things

  779. have changed. I worked my way up. Uh. As we

  780. carry up. I was in I was working in the

  781. in the car park in the church, just helping cars

  782. to move around. Uh, because I always thought that, you know,

  783. sometimes Christians are not very Christian when they're around the

  784. car park. Funny story, funny story. Okay, this sign off.

  785. I was catching a past a day not too long ago. Uh.

  786. And then he was just saying that, oh yeah, day

  787. he was just walking past, and one of the cars

  788. were honking, and then he walked past. He realized that

  789. there's a sign because he was impatient. And then he

  790. was a sticker on his card that says, your experience

  791. starts here. I mean, hopefully there's not cut up of

  792. the recording. But I don't know who it is. But

  793. but but yeah, people are impatient, and I thought that,

  794. you know, I wanted to make a difference. By the

  795. way I woke my way up, I was actually hit

  796. off the car park ministry. Uh. By the way, it's cold,

  797. you know, so I had to always gear up walk

  798. my way up to another ministry in the cafe. There

  799. in the cafe, we actually had a ministry that we

  800. put a public as well. So again make sure there's

  801. not screened. But I to this day, I she worked

  802. very closely with a lot of refugee community. Uh. And

  803. again when I was abroad, just sit thinking that people

  804. at the cafe, uh the drinks, sit down with mons

  805. that are there, and I walked with them in life

  806. through the different struggles. And that is where my pastoral

  807. days began. I would say. And it's funny how pieces

  808. of the puzzle come together and God, slowly but surely prepared,

  809. prepared myself and also I guess the people around me,

  810. uh to to do what we do. I a will

  811. start that certainly be a structure engineer. Maybe the thing

  812. I can do for God is just building got a

  813. church in the physical, but no, God had other plans

  814. in mind. But more importantly, you know, guys I caught

  815. up with with it's actually the mentor that I've caught

  816. up with, right. I found out that he has not

  817. been to church for the last five years. So my

  818. my trip back home, back back back home, back back

  819. to Melbourne was more it was before work, but I

  820. think it's also a great purpose, purposeful trip and it

  821. was there because we had chats and then we prayed

  822. alongside each other. Long story I cannot go to details,

  823. but uh, there was some brokenness in his family. There

  824. was some separation his father. About it is, he's much

  825. older than me, but his parents were separating and then

  826. because of that everything fell apart. And he has in

  827. that stage where he's uh, you know, blaming God, et

  828. cetera and all that. But we had had heard talk.

  829. But one thing that came out of it, and I

  830. just got a text from him not too long ago

  831. that he's actually come back to church when all of

  832. this is just talking about Hey, you know you the

  833. guy that you know made me who I am. Literally,

  834. I'm so thankful for it. And and if anything, the discipleship,

  835. you know, when one full circle. And because of that,

  836. he is operating as he should. I think he's coming back.

  837. He's coming back to the church. He's already starting to

  838. volunteer in this few days now because he's like reminder

  839. of the things that we used to do together. And

  840. all I did was share, you know, role, I was

  841. that that, that little rascal, and because of you, you know,

  842. my life is very different. I shared about the things

  843. that we do here and all that, and and and

  844. what I'm trying to say is that God sometimes gear

  845. you up, not for yourself, because sometimes you say fullest

  846. things is protect, but she's to protect your fellow souldiers

  847. as well. And that's what I want you to catch

  848. from here, because we are stronger as a as a

  849. bigger unit, and that's what is important. Right. You can

  850. play softly. I'm going to land now, but but yeah,

  851. if this message is simple, it's meant to be simple,

  852. but there's a lot into it, and I don't have

  853. the time to go into it. But I want to

  854. remind us again that you know, it's not just a

  855. year to prepare ourselves for discipleshit but really it is

  856. a year to be ready for what's to come. And

  857. you don't ever know what will hit you next time.

  858. And even if it's not, prepare for yourself. Key message here,

  859. why don't you prepare for somebody else, your fellow brother

  860. and sister? And you never know when you can be

  861. God's vessel again? Small thing, small catch up? How many

  862. Coffeechure's gonna have? How many dinners can I have? That person?

  863. But he has come back to a relationship with God

  864. just because of the opportunity that was given to me

  865. in that process. So really it is to sometimes set

  866. at this free as well, but just for yourself. So

  867. won't you just equip yourself, prepare yourself. Yes we live

  868. in a hys school world, don't get me wrong, But

  869. won't you just prepare yourself spiritually all the time and

  870. be ready and be bat already? Why? Because we are

  871. really going to war. We are already in war, by

  872. the way, So please don't take this lightly. In a

  873. moment here, I'm gonna you know, just pray with you.

  874. But I told you about that mentor right that mentor.

  875. I don't think it's just a prayer for us to

  876. come out of different things. But we are praying for

  877. each other to be more battle ready for the next

  878. battle to come. And that was special. Why because we

  879. recognize the devil is still at play, the devil is

  880. still at work when we should not let our guard down.

  881. And more importantly, we are not alone. So if you

  882. are here today and you feel let I don't know

  883. who this invitation is meant to be. It's not an

  884. invitation for salvation. Don't get me wrong. We are all believers,

  885. but we need to operate as believe us need to

  886. operate as
