And I think I can't remember when it's the last

time I came. I think the last time I came

you were not around, you know. Yeah, yeah, but I

can't remember when.

But I was good.

It's good to see some of you here. I see

some familiar faces. I see some unfamiliar faces.

Uh. You know, but I think I'm the new Kamala. Yeah.

So my name is Alvin. I'm glad to be here.

I'll just get straight into the word and then we'll

see where this goes. Okay, So if you're writing notes,

the message title this morning is follow Me, not the

hair shampoo. Follow me for those who are old enough

to know. If you're young, you probably will know. H

still God, but people don't use it anymore. But last

time it was very famous.

Follow me. Uh.

And the subtitle is fellowshiping, communicating and having communion with God.

Right fellowshipping, communicating and having community. How many if you

want to fellowship, communicate and have community in God? Okay,

I can see some. I'm not sure, it's okay, okay.

First Corinthians eleven.

First Coristians eleven, Chapter one says, imitate me as I

imitate Christ. Right, very famous scripture. We all hear it,

you know, some of us. We we fear and traveling.

Sometimes very hard to say, you know, but Paul confidently said,

imitate me as I immediate Christ. You know, he wants

to follow Christ. And you know Jesus asks it is

able to follow him? Right, And we're going to read

a little bit about that. So Matthew chapter four, verse

eighteen to twenty. Men, Matthew, chapter four, verse eighteen to twenty.

What does it say.

It says, here and Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee,

sat brothers. Simon called Peter and Andrew his brother. So

they were brothers, okay, casting a net into the sea,

for they were fishermen. Then he said to them, follow me,

and I will make you fishers of men. They immediately

left their nets and follow him. Wow, just drop everything

and just follow right. How many of you know that?

You know, if that happened today, it's like what Jason says,

a scam. You know he's a scam. I don't know

whether you wonder why they follow him. Of course, before

that there was some interaction. I think if you read

another gospel, he will say that actually Jesus didn't just

ask them to follow, you know, he actually got in

their boat asked them to go to the sea. And

there was a crowd following him because he was preaching, right,

So he was preaching, and as he was preaching, Oh okay,

I knew, be careful I was.

He was preaching.

You know, they probably hurt him, hurt what he said,

you know, And he went out to the sea because

there were just so many people, right, there were just

so many people. So he went on the board and

went out to the see and then he could speak

to them, right, And as they were listening, and again

this fishermen that were not you know, I think there

was a part where he also said they toiled all night,

but they caught nothing. Right, they toiled all night, but

they caught nothing. And then after he finished reaching, he

asked him to cast their nets. And he's like, okay,

Peter said, what do you say? He said, okay, God, no,

you know, good teacher, master or something like that. You know,

we taught all night, but at your word, I will

do it last. And then they caught a bountiful fish, right.

And then Peter recognized that he was a holy man,

and he actually said, you know, go away from me

because I'm a sinner.

Right.

And of course later Jesus said, I made fishers for men. Okay,

Mantel sixteen twenty four, twenty six.

What does it say? Then?

Jesus said to his disciples, if anyone desires to come

after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross,

and follow me. For whoever desires to save his life,

I will lose it. But whoever loses his life for

my sake will find it. For what profit is a man?

Is it to a man if he gains the whole

world and loses his own soul? Or what will a

man give in exchange.

For his soul? Okay?

That's will be a Bible study this morning, can right?

But because I don't really know exclaim, I kind of

need you to respond to me a little bit.

Cannot, okay, can?

So I'm just gonna ask some question and you raise

your handland don't have to raise hijus, you know, so

I can see? Okay, So, how many of you here

have received Jesus as your personal lie savior. You have

your received Jesus as your personal law and savior. I

think most of you, right, something, they're not sure it's okay.

I remember speaking to a young man and he told

me that he's half Christian. And I was like, what

does that mean? And he said, oh, of course, my

mother is Buddhist, my father is Christian. And I said, bro,

I think you don't really understand. I think you're a

zero Christian, you know, because when you accept Christ, there's

no half Christian, you know, commit your life to Christ.

If you didn't remember what we normally say at the

end of service, right, So all of us here we

accept Christ as our personal line savior. Okay, next question,

but don't lift up your hands. How many of you

are actually following him? We're strong upas Alvin, So first

start ready, how many of us are actually following Christ?

Okay, don't answer that, think about it. Think about it.

So Jesus had disciples, right, of course, he had more

than twelve, but we know the twelve. Okay, we know

the twelth disciples, right. I'm not going to recite them

because I cannot remember every name. You know, Peter James,

John and some of them. And Judus is scared, like

all of us know him because he's the bad guy.

Everybody knows the bad guy. And he had twelve disciples.

What did he do with the disciples? Have I thought

about it? What did Jesus actually do with the disciples?

He walked with disciples for three years, you know, three years,

so from zero to thirty, right, actually zero to twelve.

He will see the parents. And then after that he

got lost, or more like the parents lost him, lah okay,

and then they for a few days, and then he

went back.

They found him.

And then after that he committed his life to his

dad and his craft. He became a carpenter right until

he was thirty years old. And then after that he

started his ministry. Right, And what did you do? First

he went and looked for John the Baptist. He got baptized,

and then he started his ministry, went around preaching, ran

around healing the sick, and then he went around collecting disciples.

Right. Decided asked people.

To follow him, and the promise was follow me and

I will make you fishures of men. Right, And of

course they were fishermen. They just dropped and they follow

him la better deal. I think they thought also, they

thought better deal. Right, So he walked with his disciples.

For three years.

They traveled together, they ate together, they slept together, they

lived together.

Right, they hang out together.

The disciples had a good look at Jesus' life, don't

you think so?

Right? They probably know he wake up early in the morning.

You know that's that again, right, because the Gospels the

disciples wrote, they wrote the Gospels right as an account

of this guy's life named Jesus.

Right, they saw.

Everything, right, They had a good look at his life

on and off his.

Speaking engagements right. Right.

Now, you'll see Jason Martin and he's here a nice suit,

Wife really knows him. How is he at home?

Right?

What are his bad habits? What has his good habits? Right?

His family knows him.

If you're close enough to Jason, you probably also know, right,

if you are close enough to him as a friend

or as a family, But you probably also know that

Jason is iron man, right, right, He's very you know,

he's he's gotten into that. And you know he's also

he has a he has a you know, because we'll

grow up in church together, right, we always call him

the King of one liners, because he is until today right,

but now this morning one liner.

They knew Jesus on and off he's speaking englishments. They

knew Jesus, and they had a chance to speak to

him and learn from him, and they saw him at

every moment, right, he will he will be one one

moment speaking to the crowd, speaking to everybody.

And then he got like a power time or.

Like the brief time with the disciples to say, hey,

you know, Jesus, what you mean? I just now use

all these like parables we don't really understand. And then

he explained to them he had a chance, they had

a chance, like to.

Explain the why, why this? Why that? Right?

So they saw decide he could write, They could write

all these things because they saw, they knew, they understood, they.

Learned from him, they followed him. They really knew Jesus.

Wouldn't you really know someone if you hang out with

them all the time, wouldn't you you were right? Unless

we're all ignorena or to preoccupy our own things. But

most of the time we will know.

Right. What does communion with God means? Well?

Decide I took from dictionary commune. Community with God refers

to having a close intimate relationship and fellowship with God,

true prayer, worship.

And other spiritual practices. Coria. We all agree or disagree

with me, right, that's communion.

We've got right, true, true and true through just going online,

through just watching Netflix, through no true, different to prayer,

true worship, and through other spiritual practices. Because God is

the spiritual God. We are human, we are natural. We

are here on this earth right. We interact each other

very naturally. We don't inter each other spiritually, but we

interact with God and His presence in the spirit when

we worship, when we tune everything else out, when we pray,

when we do our quiet time. That's why we ask

you to do quiet time. Why because when you do

your quiet time, you commune with God. And if you

don't do your quiet time, then you don't commune with God.

If you pray, you community. If you don't pray, then

you kind of don't communic. Coroner, am I getting somewhere

you worship? You commune with God? Who do you worship?

Let me challenge some mindsets here. When a song comes

up and you don't like the song, who you still

singing with all your heart? Because who Are you worshiping?

Are you worshiping your feelings? Or are sing God?

I try and connect with God, try and connect with

your emotions.

You gotta be very clear in our friends, because if

you're not, if you're not very clear with this, you

know what's gonna happen. The danger is that we don't

understand this and our relationship with God. The danger is

we're gonna start exalting other things.

It's very grave. One.

You start exalting the worship, not the God of worship,

the gody worshiping. You start exalting the music and the song,

and ay, we actually should be exalting God. Just just

challenge your mindset a little bit. Okay, So community with God?

What does it mean?

Well, it involves a two way communication where God communicates

with us and we respond to him. Right, So this

can be seen as a form of intimate conversation and

connection with the divine. Don't lift up your hands, But

how many of you here know the voice of God

and he doesn't sound like Morgan Freeman? How many of

you understand what is it like to community with God?

Friends?

Do you know that He wants to connect with everyone

of us? He is not here and interested to just

talk to the pastors and leaders and the prophets only

know He wants to talk to everyone. That's why for

God's soul, love of the world, he gave his only

begoden son that whoever believes in him.

But have you done alive? Right? God wants to connect

with everyone of us.

The question is do we want to connect with him? Communication?

So effective communication? Let's talk abou a little bit about that.

If active communication, what is effective communication? Well, effective communication

is crucial for building strong relationships, corying on although so

a merrit.

Right? Or in a relationship? Right? Or have kids? Or right?

Don't you think effective communication? Do you know that we

are horrible with communication? We are, and we're getting worse.

Right.

It's crucial for building strong relationships, resolving conflicts, how many

if you've got conflict here? Right, and achieving shared goals.

It is essential for understanding each other's perspectives, fostering empathy,

and working together effectively. Well, suddenly it sounds like a

business meeting. Am I speaking alien language? Or do you

guys get it? Is it complicated or simple? It's not

very complicated? In our friends, it is not. But of

course a lot of things get in the way of

that sometimes most times all the time, right, our expectations,

our emotions, how we feel, how we think. Right and friends,

I understand, I understand, and said, sometimes it is hard

to navigate this life with an unseen God.

It is. It is hard.

Even Jesus are when he came back, you know, and

was resurrected. Right the decype of Thomas say I only

see you on yeah I believe. I mean, he didn't

say that way like he was in Malaysian, right, he said,

You, yeah, I believe.

And Jesus appeared to him someone and say look at

my hands, like, oh yeah, I believe now and said Thomas,

it's great that you see and now believe. But blessed

are those who have not seen but yet believe. Isn't

he talking about us today that we have not. I

have not seen Jesus, you know, I've heard people don't Jesus.

I've never dread of Jesus. I've never dren of Jesus.

I've never heard God's audible voice. I think I'll be

scared if I heard it. But I know God speaks

to me, right, So it is hard, admit, Yes, it

is hard. It's easier to see someone easier. Talk to Jason.

To talk to End is easier. Right, That's why God

modeled out discipleship with men.

Your catch din not. We need people around us to

help us grow alongside with God.

Think about it.

We need people around us to help us grow alongside God.

Let me challenge another top process. Do you think it's

enough that you grow in your faith? If your only

touch point he's on a Sunday for two hours?

Think about it? Do you think it's enough?

And then we practice these things and then we wonder

why God not speaking to us? Think about it. There's

a principle in a Bible about sewing and reaping. Whatever

you saw, you read God is not marked. The more

you saw in something, the more you repeat. You want

to have communion with God, then you got to sew more.

Same with any relationship. You want to have a good

relationship person, you have to sow more. You have to

meet the person, more know the person, more understand the

person more.

Right. That's what happens when people like people.

Are right first time fall in love every day you

Next, it's okay, you can just ignore this one now.

And then you want to get to know everything about

the person, what they like, you know, what color they have.

I got very funny story to tell you, and so funny.

So I organized the uh I mean sometimes, I mean

one of the things we did was, oh, we won't

We did it. We played the game let's just say

that after the third question, we felt like we need

don't know what her favorite color is. You know.

After that, right, some of my guys right who got

new friend, they were confidenced me, yeah, I know her

color because they actually got the list. And then going

ask I'm like, okay, good there, you do your homework.

But you see, any form of relationship that's closed need

to be built, right, You need to be built friends,

if you have no good relationship with your parents, right,

can I be re honestly because you're not building it.

And unfortunately, we expect our parents to do the building,

but maybe their parents didn't teach them how to do

the building, and then it's up to us. So why

because we got Jesus in a Lisma, because we see

the light man, because we know Ma, because we've been

set free?

Then why can't we be the change? This one thing?

It's hard?

This is why when I think about the way Christ,

why didn't Jesus start a podcast? He wants people to

know about him?

Right?

Have you thought about it before? Why didn't he start

a podcast? Or why didn't he have a talk show?

Everybody watched the talk show? Why didn't he start the school? No,

he didn't do all these things. Do you think Jesus

is dumb? I don't think it's dumb. Now, I think

he was very smart. I think he was very very smart.

I think understood. I think God, our creator, understood the

way we think, understood the way we do things. And

what was the solution that he gave us to share

the good news to everyone.

Discipleship.

He didn't say let's start a lecture like Naulah, I'm

lecturing your He.

Didn't just say start home.

No, he said discipleship one on one, discipleship three year costs,

intensive costs for the child disciples.

That's what happened. Friends.

Why am I sharing this with you this morning? Well,

it's very simple. In ex church, we believe in decipership.

I'm not sure whether you can find this anywhere else.

I hope you can, but at least if you're here

and you call exk your home. My encouragement to all

of us here and this year our team is decipership,

is that if you are not discipled, it's time to

get discipled. And if you're not discipling anyone, it's time

to think about who you can disciple.

Right, because this is the way that Christ did. It

is nothing beyond is it hard?

Yes, of course right. Your disciple might go up to

you and say, get me behind me, Satan. That's what

happened to beeter. Of course, I think our leadership organize

they're not gonna do that to you, right, But disciple, shit,

there has to be something about it. There has to

be something about it that works. There has to be

something about it that helps us.

Well.

If you read Matthew chapter eight, verse nineteen twenty, that's

what Jesus has to do. Go out to all the

world and make disciples and do what teach them, teach

them what all that I have taught you, and baptize

them in the name of the Father, the Son, and

the Holy Spirit. And then there's a promise and lo,

I am with you as the communion continues. Right, the

communion continues. Let me share with you a little bit

about my discipleship journey, because I know not a lot

of you know me. So I joined Acts Church in

two thousand and five. Okay, that's twenty years ago. At

that time, I was studying in MMU Multimedia University, Sabagaya,

and of course as a chemistudent, I just fort my

friends church star right. I actually I said I was

from glang So I actually attend a church in Glang right,

my parents church for where long?

Right?

But somehow after I graduated, it was very weird because

I just felt I needed to find my own church.

It was so weird and I'm like, what, I this

is my church? What do you mean God?

So it was a six month wrestle wrestling for six

months and I said, God must have a few checklists

before I go. I don't want to see me leave,

and all this is my home, all this kind of

stuff are right, And then every czechlist pancelor my parents

let me go, all these different things law.

And then at the time when I.

Was looking for a church, always joke with past and

this extes was not top choicer because I at the

next when I was in campus, and let's just say that,

I thought extras before are action.

Yeah, anyway, I thought actually were at the time last

different different crowd, different crowd, different crowd.

Maybe I met the wrong people anyway, so I didn't.

I thought, oh, maybe I'll go to a bigger church

in k l or another smaller church in Subag you know.

And I'm like, you know, I can help you know

all these things. But since I have no place yet,

I just go through where I know follow friends. Man,

So I go on and I remember this one message

that I canna preach. I remember that I'm still trying

to find the message you can not find. He Ap

And immediately, as a young foolish man boy, I would say,

I said, God, I will die in this church, like

I don't know.

Whether I'll do that and not now, but looks I'm

hating that. No, but I said that, you like, why

did I say that?

Okay? Foolish and brash.

So I was looking for a church route down after

graduat thing, then passer preach. So I told God, yeah

that And so when I joined X, I plugged in

myself and I sir like all out because I didn't

want to like allow anything to like you know, or

you know sometimes you know sometimes that you see a

lot of things that glitter and then you chase after it.

But do you know that things that glitter a lot

of times it's not God, but then we chase after

things that glitter.

So I plucked myself in, I surf and at that

time we started to time five. We started huddles. We

started it was just to start what th.

Years ago, just to start huddles right, And I was

discipled by one of the leaders there and in.

One year I was appointed as a leader.

Okay, and at time our churches four camera student, I

mean now X church, we are so blessed. We got

so many different but yeah, we were young church. You know,

we will looked down by a lot of people because

we were young. How you you're young, can you'll do

anything or not? Well a Bible say Kenna. We were

very strong in our faith. We followed pasta Kenna. There

were a lot of testimonies in church I think enj uh,

you know, Jason just or you'll remember those testimonies because

we were there in one. Do you know when when

when you have one church plan easier, you're much easier.

Then God has to go.

And you know Multiplier said that what God, you should

stay together? You know I want to scatter you read

the Bible or not got scattered the juice? You know,

true persecution, so one another. If you don't scatter, God

will scatter you. Why because other people need to experience him.

Right.

So so when I joined as, I helped out in

video and with my skill set, and then Passa Kenna

approached me to start our church medium ministry. So I

started XTV okay faithfully until twenty fourteen. Right then I

passed that role to Mintion, who's the current head of XTV. Well,

I guess partially also because in twenty twelve, you know,

I was asked to Blood XPJ, And can I tell

you that when I was asked to Blood XBA, I thought, see, I, well,

maybe it's communication because there were a few things I thought. Okay,

first thing I thought was I was second choice because

I thought there was someone better than me.

That was what I thought. For a long time. Only reason. Yeah,

I realized I was on second choice only recently.

Okay, so think about it, Okay, think about the lack

of confidence that you may have.

And then when I was asked, I thought I was

asked to be part of the team, not lead it.

But as we prayed and as we did things, I

realized slowly that I'm supposed to lead it.

I'm like, oh no, okay, that's history.

So when I came to ask, I would siper my leader,

but my but then after a while, my my disciple change.

So all kenya discipled me. Actually he's supposed to come today,

it's not well, please pray for him. Okay.

So somewhere around two thousand and seven town eight, right,

and can I tell you that I chose a na

Why because actually during a time passa kind of maybe he.

Got full sight. He always got full sight. He's signing

him to me.

And like he asked, oh disabuation, I'm like, okay, say,

but if you don't change, can one?

Okay? Then he walked off there, Oh okay, should I change?

So I changed? Now? I thought, oh maybe, but he's

And when I was choosing choosing a discipler, I thought

to myself, like, who who shoo should I choose?

Who should I choose?

Right?

If I choose people similar to me, then I would learn,

so I to choose someone different. Oh my goodness, so different,

very different than el Can was a different person last time, right,

and our personality very different. Okay, So two years of wilderness,

two years because I didn't really understand him, two to

eight two years of wilderness.

It was not easy, right, it was so not easy.

But now after learning growing under his leadership, we've got

a weird tight relationship, right, And I like to believe

that I'm one of his trusted disciples.

That I like to believe that lat okay, and I.

Initial chose him because he had quality side in my head,

he was always the first to arrive in church and

the last to leave. He was also one of passer

Cana's most trusted and relied on disciples until today. And

I can tell you confidently that through his discipleship, I've

really matured as a person and also grown in my ministry.

And I'm still growing today and also discipling others. Discipleship works, friends,

discipleship works. Discipleship is not going to be something that

will be there front one. Like I said, I got

two years of wilderness until I had to crack the

code called I think I saw Daila right, But what

was the goal of it?

Friends? It was because I was pursuing God. No other reason,

no other reason.

Let me show you a graph discipleship. Right, So how

But how do we do it?

Well, you want to disciple dose scipership? You have to

start fellowship as Lam.

deeper connection communion, And then what happens. A transformation happens.

Not because oh I'm closer to Jason. No, not because

or now I know energy, well, so then I follow

every well No, not really, there is a transformation because

we disciple people towards Christ and the spirit of God

is in the situation as well. So now I feel

you know, when I talk to pe about this, I

feel like, you know, I'll give you this perspective.

Love. Always believe in God?

Do you believe that God is in control of everything?

Do you believe that God is in control of your life?

Now?

If he is, why why you don't trust him? Why

you don't trust that the boss that He plays on

you today is there for you to learn and if

the boss is not there, the Lord will remove the boss.

Why is it that we cannot trust that if the

church leader there is your Homelely Dad, you don't like there,

as you go prayer service and as you come, as

you give, as you do, I don't like you keep

asking me be holy. It's something that God wants you

to learn more because he's in control over your life.

Have you ever considered that? Have you ever considered that?

Because the Bible says it himself. The Bible says that

we should honor our leaders, not not just Christian nor

Christian honor our leaders. Why because they are placed over

you for a bur personal h the butur personal. You see,

if we can go into theipership, there will be transformation.

If you are thinking about your life and there's no transformation,

maybe you're not aligning enough.

It's your choice. It's our choice.

We choose, We choose what we want to do. Let's

go to a simpler understanding of it. The next life.

So first it's connection. Now I come to expect, I

come to expect, I'm connected X time. All right, affiliation,

to know each other?

I want to help, I want to do life. I

don't want just be a spectator. I want to participate.

Do you know that if you you know, one of

the best ways for us to stop complaining about things.

I'm not saying you are. I'm just saying that even

Malaysia complain. My Malaysia is to participate. Because you won't

complain about your work, You'll get edna if you don't

like how.

Extreme is doing it.

Why don't you join extreme because after you join extreme,

you know ha ha it is, you're not going to

complain anymore because it's very I have to complare about yourself.

You get what I mean. But it's very easy to

complare to other people. So easy participate doing life together,

growing and learning with one another. It's not going to

be a bit of roses. It's not. It's not going

to be all perfect. It's going to mess with your life,

but you're going to transform. Amen.

So let me give you three things. Well, do things

here that you can do to start your disciples chip journey.
