  1. You're listening to a message to go from acts church.

  2. We hope this message will light up your day.

  3. Intimacy. Okay, now what comes to mind when you see

  4. the word intimacy? It's the question here. But I wanted

  5. to also circle around that particular word because that is

  6. a foundational truth of we as humans are built for intimacy. Okay,

  7. I think it's a fact that we are built for intimacy,

  8. all right, But this isn't just a very nice concept

  9. in the physical. It also translates to the spiritual or

  10. the supernatural as well, because why we are God's creation,

  11. and God made us for a relationship, right and you know,

  12. at the very beginning it was a relationship between us,

  13. or rather man and God. And then later along the lines,

  14. it's only when the human in human relationship you know,

  15. prosper and continues on from there. But it's modeled after

  16. the relationship between man and God in Genesis. And that's

  17. why humans, no matter what, we need that connection. And

  18. the moment that connection is broken, something is amiss, something is.

  19. Not quite right.

  20. And it's crucial to understand that this actually is only

  21. satisfied at least in the context between man and God.

  22. Only God can satisfy this. Okay, So I'm going to

  23. start off with that because the premise, of course, you know,

  24. you're going through a season of discipleship, right, A lot

  25. of it is also human to human discipleship, but we're

  26. also talking about discipleship.

  27. Between man and God.

  28. And of course you're whoever hopefully under some discipleship relationship.

  29. But if you have not talked to Jason, talk to

  30. the leaders here.

  31. We hook you up. But all of us.

  32. As leaders will always point you up to ensuring the

  33. intimacy with God is maintained, because why we are made

  34. for intimacy. All right, So the question here is I

  35. put put put up the slide in are we engaged?

  36. Are we engaged? Of course not just human to human,

  37. but are we engaged with God? Okay, a bit more

  38. background by myself just said I I well, I'm an engineer.

  39. I don't know why you say that, but anyway, I'm

  40. an engineer. I think like an engineer. I've also been

  41. involved in some levels of UH in the education world

  42. as well, so I'm hard wired that way. Whereby with

  43. that background, I need to understand how things work. So

  44. a lot of my UH sharing or going deeper in

  45. the world. It's always around this, like a flow chat

  46. kind of a thing. If yes, then this, if not,

  47. then that, and then it everything has makes sense.

  48. Right, So every time I.

  49. Go into different areas of different topics, I always try

  50. to look for the practical aspects of things as well.

  51. So today it's also a long that time. It's not

  52. just what it is, but how can we clearly implement

  53. this of course, not just conceptual but really as what

  54. we always learned in last time growing up and right

  55. if you remember that, sorry for those who are not Malaysians,

  56. it's just applications that is relevant so that we can

  57. understand and take it further.

  58. Right.

  59. So and uh, growing up, I've always seen different leaders

  60. in the church doing this. Uh, and one always wondered,

  61. how do they build the intimacy with God?

  62. How does it happen? How does it work?

  63. How do you move from here level one to level

  64. you know, you know, three hundred and forty two, like

  65. where they say pasted the Candidis and and and and

  66. and people like. So it's really true the journey of

  67. discipleship relationship that I actually learn a bit more because

  68. again it's not just about hit knowledge, it's really about

  69. working together not just with a human uh uh, you know, discipler,

  70. but also with the Holy Spirit, because we know that

  71. the Holy Spirit is there, is here rather with us

  72. to allow us to then take this further. So the

  73. anointing in life or in my life in general has

  74. increased over time through this personal intimate relationship with God

  75. and of course with the different ones that sort of encourages.

  76. But what I've discovered is that there's.

  77. Always an inner, inner thing that needs to be worked

  78. on to make sure this happens. Let me explain a

  79. little bit more. Okay, So again just the background, this

  80. is how I work. Framework has to be very clear,

  81. otherwise everything falls apart from me.

  82. So and we said this before.

  83. Intimacy comes from God, right, So out of this whole thing,

  84. I hope at the end of it you understand what's

  85. the importance of intimacy with God and how to then

  86. take it further. Why because we are meant for intimacy

  87. and this will change your perspective of how you come

  88. to church, how you view church, how you do life

  89. in church as well, because the church pop quas is

  90. not really a building anymore, it's actually a community. Right.

  91. Sometimes we wonder why we come into church. We feel

  92. like we engage like today, you know, we engage in worship.

  93. But then after that do you take it on further?

  94. Beyond the Sunday is the question here, because the intermacifity

  95. God doesn't just stay in church or in the Sunday

  96. service as we know it.

  97. It goes beyond that. All right.

  98. So I put up this like just to get the

  99. juices going. I put that attending is easy, Attending church

  100. is easy, but into mestics engagement, right, So what I

  101. mean by that is that sometimes we can fall in

  102. this trap of just coming into church like it's a

  103. temporary thing. It's like renting a space on Sunday going

  104. into Monday to Saturday, just as a visitors of God's presence,

  105. of his and in the ara of engagement. So we

  106. move away after Sunday. And that's a scary thing because why,

  107. as you know modern day times, the church, well, uh,

  108. I come to that a little bit more. But you know,

  109. we carry the spirit of God with us everywhere we go,

  110. so it's nearer than before.

  111. But and yet we do not engage. And that's a

  112. scary thing.

  113. Okay, very okay, so far all right, so really the

  114. focus of today is really talking about maybe the principles

  115. of how to focus on the Holy Spirit in a

  116. more meaningful and intimate way and or aka how to

  117. really build a real relationship with God so that we

  118. can live, love and be transformed and serve differently as well. Okay,

  119. very okay, so far, let me pray, Father, God, we

  120. want to thank you for the wonderful servants that have

  121. been serving today, the different ones that are you know,

  122. serving your house today. Father, I want to also want

  123. to pray and honor you. Help us Lord, learn you know,

  124. how to engage you in a deeper and more meaningful

  125. way in justing me pray.

  126. Amen.

  127. And so if you're taking notes, the title of my

  128. message is not what I've shown earlier. The title of

  129. my message is God. I'm engaged now. This word engage, right,

  130. sometimes brings about different things. Usually it's very happy, like, oh,

  131. you know, I'm engaged engaged with somebody, right, a fellow

  132. human being.

  133. But of course this is just a spin of it.

  134. I'm talking about being engaged with God because it's equally

  135. as important. So engaging what specifically, not just Him, but

  136. also his presence, because the presence like I say, it's

  137. always there.

  138. Sometimes you just do not realize.

  139. We realize when the mobile coverage is low, but we

  140. do not realize actually, God's coverage is always there all

  141. the time, but we're just not tapping into it as much.

  142. So circling back again, as I mentioned to you before,

  143. we are made for intimacy, so we are meant to

  144. be connected with god design. Right, sometimes we just do

  145. not I guess, I guess fulfill or take it on

  146. that level now, just like how in the intimacy. In

  147. terms of human relationship, there are generally two kinds of

  148. relationship that I would say that will consider intimate relationship. Okay,

  149. there's a spontaneous kind spontaneous meaning to say, let's say, uh,

  150. you know, human to human, Uh, me and my wife,

  151. we might have, you know, spontaneous relationship, spontaneous intimacy rather

  152. a hand over the shoulder or even a handshake of

  153. a brother. It's not just spouse or girlfriends and boyfriends

  154. kind of context. But that's what we considered a spontaneous,

  155. you know, your arm around your bff kind of relationship.

  156. Right.

  157. There's also those that are more thought true, more plan

  158. more structured in some sense, These are your dates, your meals,

  159. your time, quality time that spend together, your romantic time.

  160. I'll stop there.

  161. All these builds towards taking intimacy to the next level

  162. in the human sense. So some of these also translatable

  163. to how we approach God as well. Right, there is

  164. the intentional kind, your quiet time time set aside, structured

  165. to go deeper into his presence. There is also the

  166. times where it feels very spontaneous, where God speaks to you,

  167. drops something at you. You're not not really focused, but

  168. it comes to you. But this switch between these two

  169. in the spiritual sense, adds and continues to build that

  170. intimacy between you and God. So everything flows, and it

  171. flows when you have more awareness of this thing. It's

  172. not just accidental. It's what I'm trying to say here, okay,

  173. And because of that we also have to become more effective.

  174. We also have to then do a bit more things.

  175. Realizing it is one thing, like I said, you need

  176. to then take it further, otherwise different things would earlier

  177. we uh one of the somebody mentioned about you know,

  178. the thieth is here to steal, kill and destroy. Right,

  179. thank you for that, because sometimes different things will come

  180. subtly stealing your time, stealing your attention, and that is

  181. always very subtle, but you're essentially is robbing you of

  182. your intimacy because if you're going through medical pressures that

  183. would eat you up, that you do not realize that

  184. it's taking away, taking yourself away from where you're.

  185. Supposed to be with God.

  186. As an example, financial issues, kids going bonkers at home,

  187. you know those will distract you as well.

  188. So I find at.

  189. Least true, like I said, disciples, your relationship with the

  190. different ones that have been taking care of me, and

  191. to some extent, through the discipline and of course effort

  192. on your part as well, you will.

  193. Establish different.

  194. Key moments or key breakthrough points that you can always

  195. access to. So like I said, whenever you're thinking down

  196. as an example, you always oh, you know the time

  197. and God came true for me. Those are those breakthrough

  198. points that we tap into, and those moments are important.

  199. The world today that we live in, we call it

  200. on demand, right, they like Netflix on demand? Back then

  201. when we had to wait for a cartoon seriesly to

  202. wait one week later and then it comes to us,

  203. there's no on demand, But how does it on demand work?

  204. The content has to be created first, right, So these

  205. breakthrough moments are important. And how do you build on

  206. these breakthrough moments is that you need to continue to

  207. have relationship with God, right so you can draw from

  208. it from time to time so that you can continue.

  209. So that's what I mean by you need to have

  210. more encounters. You can't just wait for encounters drop to you.

  211. You need to establish these encounters with the Lord all

  212. the time. So, like I said, here in church service,

  213. we have the luxury to have different ones. Thank you

  214. Jade for you know, bringing us into worship. That is engaging,

  215. helping us engage. But how do we then engage after Sunday?

  216. You need to take this further. I mean, she can't

  217. be there to serenade, you know, not joking, joking, but

  218. she can't be there to lead you into worship with

  219. the entire team. You're on your own, right, So how

  220. do you engage at home, at work, and at school

  221. outside the church?

  222. AKA?

  223. All right, And this is where I'm coming from. It's

  224. gonna be a very short message because actually when I

  225. did this, I did it in several parts, or at

  226. least I have severned several parts. I don't NCover everything

  227. in one goal. But today I think I just want

  228. to dive into the at least the general principles or

  229. posture of.

  230. This, the how to parts.

  231. If I ever do come back again, then maybe I'll

  232. go a bit deeper if I do a good job.

  233. Otherwise you'll see me again in like just kidding, joking

  234. Jason earlier that you know, I didn't come back because

  235. I didn't do a good job the last night anyway, joking,

  236. joking right now. So these are the key things that

  237. I've discovered. And it's always to do with the heart.

  238. So I put up this next of skip this one.

  239. Worry about this. What is our stands, what is our position?

  240. Always our posture? Okay, And this has always to do

  241. with the heart, because the heart is where intimacy begins.

  242. You don't say intimacy starts here. If you say here,

  243. something is not quite right, right, And to deepen this

  244. is really talking about intimacy in the context of deepening

  245. your relationship regard. Okay, So I've divided into three things.

  246. You can take down some of these for now. I

  247. will go in deeper one by one. We have to

  248. talk about desire, were to talk about commitment and what

  249. that looks like. And of course the last one here

  250. is to looking at the perseverance to continue to pursue.

  251. And those are some of the key verses that will

  252. be going into a bit deeper every Okay, so far, Okay,

  253. please help me because I'm usually the afternoon shift kind

  254. of people. I'm not used to morning, so I've had

  255. lots of coffee to stay awake, but I need your

  256. help to make sure I survive the morning.

  257. Just skatting says skating. I'm okay, all right.

  258. So first one, desire, all right, Desire Psalms twenty seven

  259. is the key verse here and this sum here it

  260. talks about King David. Now all of us know King David,

  261. right right, very famous in the Bible. We know him

  262. as the king. But I think when we look at

  263. kings in today's modern world, it's a bit different from

  264. King David during his time because King David during the

  265. time it's not just a king.

  266. A ruler per se.

  267. He's also a warrior, a leader, a general, one that

  268. actually has to do work, a not a what's the

  269. what's the expression, not just for sure, not figure hit,

  270. that's the right term, all right. He's not no normal

  271. king he's a battle kings of war, a king. But

  272. you see in this sum here, which you can flash

  273. up right now, when he prayed and when he can

  274. ask for something in the human sense, if I were

  275. in his position, or any king in his position, will

  276. definitely be praying God, please send me some battle tanks,

  277. some airplanes, some RPGs and.

  278. Things like that.

  279. I mean, of course, you know it doesn't exist then,

  280. but along those lines weapons.

  281. More army because they were outnumbered, you know. But what

  282. do he say? What do you pray?

  283. It's very funny, I mean interesting. One thing I asked

  284. from the Lord one thing for us prayer one hundred

  285. one thing is correct, it's one thing.

  286. It's very focused. One thing.

  287. Sorry, the highlights are not rectly in this, but I

  288. highlighted one thing. One thing I asked from the Lord.

  289. This only do I seek, that I may dwell in

  290. the house of the Lord all the day of my life,

  291. to gaze on the beauty of the Lord and to

  292. seek his temple.

  293. Right. So the consuming thing for him is only to

  294. be in God's house.

  295. Now, to give you some contexts in that era, God,

  296. of course we know he's omnipresent, He's everywhere but he

  297. manifests in the church in the temple during that time.

  298. So it made sense to David because I want to

  299. be where God is all the time, and if God

  300. is going to show up there, I want to be

  301. there nothing else. Of course, in today's era, you know,

  302. God is everywhere right in the New Testament, and it's

  303. where believers are. So, like I said, we are a

  304. bit more in the luxuria. I state, we don't have

  305. to go and find God in the temple anymore. God

  306. is actually there. But during the time he needs to

  307. be at the temple. Why and it's not just one day,

  308. you know, you look very careful, You're right, three hundred

  309. and sixty five days. You think it's not busier. He's

  310. fighting wars, you know, And yet his desire is to

  311. be with the Lord. He's so passionate about it. Why

  312. Because he lived in intimacy to encounter God's goodness and

  313. to continue to commune and to.

  314. Build relationship with God. He's so focused. One thing amazing, Right,

  315. So if you didn't get my first point. First point is.

  316. Really your desire, You've got to align your desire otherwise, Yeah,

  317. this wouldn't happen Like I said, it doesn't drop from

  318. this kind second thing, and he got three points and

  319. then I'm done.

  320. You can go for lunch. Right. Commitment.

  321. Now, the second thing that you need to build intimacy

  322. with God is the commitment side.

  323. Now, I purposely chose this photograph.

  324. Uh, in case you do not understand this, this is

  325. like two merit wedding bands. Because intimacy, sorry, commitment rather

  326. that we see as as humans is a bit different. Now,

  327. let me explain us. In the modern day world, we

  328. do a lot of casual relationships. When I say casual,

  329. I don't mean you know that that kind of casual

  330. ship we we we do life or maybe befriends somebody

  331. whenever one that's there's a reason why we do it.

  332. If there is something for me to gain from it,

  333. or when it's convenient for me. That's what I mean

  334. by casual relationship.

  335. Okay, the moment it.

  336. Doesn't work out or you know I've completely drained, or

  337. you know, ensure that a person has nothing more to give,

  338. sometimes we take a step. I don't need you anymore

  339. no longer, my bff, et cetera. Because I'm joking, but

  340. you know there's some truth to it. So it's really

  341. the when convenient and the what I can get from it.

  342. That's why I meant.

  343. By casual relationships in today's Well, of course, the West

  344. takes casual relationship into another level, another dimension, and some

  345. of us are also adopting it in our lifestyle here.

  346. But yeah, I need to understand. It's because sometimes when

  347. we think relationships or commitment in a relationship, we think

  348. in that perspective. But it's not when God enters into

  349. a relationship or when he commits to a relationship, right,

  350. he sees it like that. What I mean by that

  351. it is like a marriage. Why because just like in

  352. the marriage, God enters into the relationship and it's a covenant.

  353. Now, what is a covenant? For those of you who

  354. have been to weddings.

  355. So I've seen or hear about, you know, some some

  356. things about marriages, we talk about something that cannot be broken.

  357. It's not a commitment to say when it's convenient or

  358. when I've got something again.

  359. Right.

  360. That's why I always say, if you're not ready for marriage,

  361. don't get married, because once you're in, you're in. There

  362. is no exit clause, right, And God looks at it

  363. that way. So what I'm trying to say, is that

  364. it's a big deal for him. Yeah. So sometimes when

  365. we enter into relationship with God with that human, casual perspective,

  366. God doesn't see the same way. And that's the problem here, Right,

  367. he gets upset because of that. Right, imagine this if

  368. I'm I'm sorry, I'm married forgot Yeah, after marriage, if

  369. I were to go out and hang out with some

  370. of my old When I say girlfriends, I don't mean

  371. like girlfriends felt friends of the opposite gender. Although my

  372. wife trust me, you know I won't do funny things.

  373. But after a while, it's not the healthiest and after

  374. a while perhaps my wife would maybe.

  375. That way around that.

  376. I will feel jealous if my wife hung out with

  377. her previous close friends, I feel uncomfortable. Why because it's

  378. just not right. Right, It's the same way when you

  379. approach that relationship with God. Now, this is jealousy I'm

  380. talking about. Jealousy is not always a negative word, at

  381. least in the context of God's jealousy.

  382. Right. Jealousy is strong passion.

  383. About something that actually belongs to you. You're entitled and

  384. again you're committed to So when you commit to God,

  385. you actually belong to God.

  386. Already and he sees it that way.

  387. So the moment you deviate or the moment you go

  388. somewhere else, say you are drawn by world verse and

  389. other things, that they take you away from that intimacy

  390. that you committed to in the first it's been with.

  391. It violates that covenant to some extent, if I use

  392. a strong word, is as good as adultery in God's

  393. eyes in the context of the the commitment or the covenant,

  394. because our God is covenant to God. So why am

  395. I saying all this is because sometimes the way we

  396. see things is very diluted. God sees it very differently. Okay,

  397. hope we understand that. Now, let's close to some scriptures.

  398. I promise you some scriptures. Luke ten forty two. We

  399. all know this story, right, Mary and Martha? All right?

  400. Everybody knows the story.

  401. All right, Okay, I will read the whole thing because

  402. but one of the important things in this story is

  403. that Mary. The two characters, say, Mary, one of the sisters.

  404. You know that they're very close with God. You can

  405. see they're hanging out together, et cetera, with the Lord.

  406. But Mary chose intimacy, all right, He chose or she

  407. chose to engage, to listen, to connect at Jesus feed

  408. doesn't get any closer in that, at least in the

  409. physical sense. Martha, of course, on the other hand, chose business.

  410. She was serving.

  411. But maybe okay, nothing wrong with serving, by the way,

  412. nothing wrong with doing things, But perhaps there was a

  413. service without an intimacy. And that's the problem here. And

  414. so there's a warning here to say, Marta mata you

  415. have you're worried about and upset about things, but the

  416. things are needed is indeed only one So Jesus telling

  417. us only one thing is more important than anything else.

  418. And what's that one thing? Mary has chosen? What is better?

  419. It will not be taken from the means. Whatever she

  420. has is more important, and she will always carry with her.

  421. And what is this thing?

  422. The better part is the eternal value that cannot be lost.

  423. This intimacy is what he's talking about, all right. So

  424. when Mary prioritized spiritual nourishment or AKA the presence of God,

  425. it's not temporary, it's eternal. And you can see on

  426. the other side the sister, what did she say. Definitely

  427. don't have intimacy, that's for sure. And you see she

  428. came to a boiling point right, talking about when I

  429. say bollying point, white boiling point. She doesn't want to

  430. refer to Mary as by the name anymore, She said sister.

  431. Usually that means like you know already upset a la

  432. the sister. She has a name, but she used sister

  433. all right. There was a lot of resentment for sure,

  434. and can see that she is also manipulating Jesus to

  435. be I don't know, angry if the sister. There's a

  436. lot of self pity as well. There's a lot of

  437. maybe perhaps a little bit of loneliness in the picture

  438. as well.

  439. She's doing all that.

  440. But service without intimacy becomes chore. Yes, why we always

  441. say serving should flow out of place intimacies because of

  442. this reason. And that's why for us we always come

  443. back to the importance of the relationship between you and

  444. God intimacy because everything else will fall into place. So again,

  445. commitment right to set your life apart to build the

  446. intimacy is important because everything that we do will then

  447. fall in line, right, and there will be some parallels

  448. between the natural and supernatural. As we've seen here. We

  449. cannot be disconnected from this without desire. There can be

  450. no intimacy. Just like how if you do not desire

  451. to spend time with your spouse, it will not happen

  452. right without the commitment you can. Also in the physical

  453. you cannot relationship spiritual is the same thing as well.

  454. It will never develop, it will not suddenly fall from

  455. the sky. So if it's the same in the natural,

  456. it's even hard in the supernatural. You think about it

  457. because why not so tangible ma correct cannot really seema right.

  458. So that's why sometimes even as leaders, right as cerven leaders,

  459. we always say, you need to ensure we get our

  460. people to the level of that personal intimacy because we

  461. may have it, but others may not. And that's why

  462. sometimes we say, you know, seasons change come and go,

  463. but as long as you're aligned in intimate with God, right,

  464. whatever the changes may come, we will still be okay,

  465. because why it.

  466. Is not short term, it's long term. It's very important

  467. here all right now.

  468. Me and my wife, our work sometimes takes us, you know,

  469. a bit of traveling involved, and sometimes we've been been

  470. we've been absent parents or will be absent parents soon

  471. in the coming days. But we always try to align,

  472. always try to make sure that they are not neglected

  473. too much, right, But what I'm trying to say is

  474. that in the physical realize the importance because why we

  475. want to continue to build their relationship. And in saying

  476. that as well, me and my wife we also consciously

  477. intentionally schedule appointments with different ones in our in our

  478. service plant to meet, to engage, to to to grow

  479. as well the hazards of the job.

  480. But yeah, you get what I'm trying to say.

  481. Caring for people in the in the pastoral sense, but

  482. we also do the same for kids by the way, right,

  483. and people respect that. Sometimes you say, oh, we can't

  484. because Tuesday already allocated this time with the kids, and

  485. they understand that why because we are committed to the

  486. desires there kids. My commitment is definitely in there, so

  487. we need to do that. And this again translates to

  488. the importance of you doing it without Father God as well. Okay,

  489. so just to recap, you didn't catch all that. Why

  490. do Why do I say? The heart is because heart

  491. is the preparations say, we're not even doing things right.

  492. Your heart must be aligned first. So the heart must

  493. desire right point number one second point desire to do

  494. what sorry, desire to engage. Second point, he must remain

  495. committed to the relationship because he's not playing a fool,

  496. He's serious about it.

  497. Right.

  498. Of course there's forgiveness and all that, but you need

  499. to continuously and remain committed.

  500. It's a covenant.

  501. It just changed the word to covenant now not not committed, right,

  502. covenant that needs to take priority, just like how I

  503. use examples. Now, I put priority to my kids because

  504. I know if I neglected neglect them, Uh yeah, it

  505. will be very hard to to to recover in the

  506. long term. Right, So you need to so making party now, lastly,

  507. last point already, and then we can go and enjoy

  508. our lunch, which I yeah, it's.

  509. This thing called.

  510. We must believe that God will reward us for what

  511. we diligiently seek him. And I put this expression of

  512. faith and pursuit. But personally put this uh uh strange

  513. figure here because you know, we always see of the

  514. success stories, but we often do not see about what

  515. it takes to get or climb that mountain, run that marathon,

  516. and those kind of things. There's a lot of preparation

  517. in Wolf as well. There's a lot of pursuing. So

  518. if you if you like gaming. Uh, this is like

  519. stage two of game or other level two of gaming. Right.

  520. Level one is to prepare, like we said earlier, to

  521. prepare the heart for all those things I mentioned. Level

  522. two or stage two, the stage two boss is really

  523. to engage faithfully and continue to pursue actively, pursue or

  524. other words, run after, keep climbing, keep persevering.

  525. Why because you're driven for a purpose.

  526. You know how businessmen and all that they do not

  527. give up because they hold a dream and they continue

  528. to believe in the dream. If they can, in the

  529. earthly sense be so focused, right, how come we can

  530. be right? So pursue purposefully without wavering. It's what I'm

  531. trying to say here. Okay, you must believe when you

  532. pursue God. Here's the bonus part when you pursue God,

  533. when you defeat the level two boss. Okay, it's a

  534. promise in Hebrews.

  535. Next light.

  536. He is a rewarder of those who casually seek him,

  537. diligiently seek him, so he reward you.

  538. You cannot be casual. You need to diligently seek him. Okay,

  539. So yeah, let's not casually do church. Right?

  540. There needs to be a time where you switch over

  541. to something more serious. You need to go deeper, right

  542. and and even in the surface sometimes when you do

  543. life with people you can see it design is just

  544. not so genuine one, right, you need to take it

  545. up the next level.

  546. God can see it true, all right.

  547. So I remember I was telling you some of the

  548. stories in Australia at the time when I was experiencing revival,

  549. I had a mentor or a discipler who really intentionally

  550. looked into my life and ensure that I grew. One

  551. of the things that I remember he told me is

  552. till to their hold onto it is. He asked me,

  553. this thing, what is important, and if you can and

  554. in fact what's important at least in the spiritual sense,

  555. you need to then take it and ensure that you

  556. can't genuinely just focus on that. So what I got

  557. from that till today is that there is a power

  558. in focusing on things. I'll give you some non non

  559. non biblical scriptures next light. Albert Einstein said this, Okay,

  560. it's not that I'm so smart. It's just that I

  561. stay with the problems longer.

  562. Okay.

  563. Ben Franklin said, the energy and persistence conquer all things,

  564. not some things, but all things.

  565. So famous quotes.

  566. Or focused persistence until breakthrough happens. Next light, I purposially

  567. put this light here. Oh, it's actually very clear on

  568. this one. Okay, anyway, one of my I don't want

  569. to say the focus atually blended in Okay, But as I

  570. mentioned earlier, if if focus is important, we need to

  571. understand what attention needs to be at or in all right,

  572. if you need catch all that already, I think we

  573. ought to just focus on relationship with God. Do that, right,

  574. don't worry about that things for right, everything will fall

  575. into place. If this principle is true, we need to

  576. seek God diligently, seeking Him without any distraction, even if

  577. you fall, even if it's tiring, even if things rob

  578. you and take you away from the attention at that

  579. point in time. Otherwise we will we may risk falling

  580. into the mater realm Okay. Being busy sometimes you're doing

  581. things on autopilot. Sometimes ministry can be like that. Right,

  582. you do it because I do it. I I'm one

  583. of my my different leaders that don't don't just do

  584. it because you want to do it, because you don't

  585. do it. I don't does it kind of a thing,

  586. but you must always continue to then build on that

  587. relationship with God so that it's more sustainable.

  588. Right.

  589. I'm sure all of us have heard this before, you know,

  590. church as we have certain few partners that have had

  591. some health scarce and what do they do and they

  592. have the health scare, they discover something, they discover the problem,

  593. and then they quickly do something or there's an intense,

  594. intense focus on changing their lives.

  595. Are straight away for immediate impacts in their life.

  596. Right, So it could be cutting certain foods, doing certain

  597. activities and if we can do that to experience immediate

  598. breakthrough in the physical, we need to do apply the

  599. same approach for spiritual breakthrough as well. So one point

  600. say is that if you realize that spiritually you are unhealthy,

  601. unhealthy in a sense, you need to do something immediately

  602. and not wait till something is wrong or we have

  603. another scare and then you do it.

  604. Of course, you say it's difficult.

  605. Of course, there's a price to pay, right, There is

  606. definitely a price to pay. Reward is you know, has

  607. a cost to it. We talked about this in discipleship

  608. already kind of fat, right, but what needs to be

  609. done needs to be done. That's what I'm trying to

  610. say here. You must remain focused, you must remain connected,

  611. because that's important. The problem, the bigger problem of the problem,

  612. is when you realize the problem but not do anything

  613. about the problem.

  614. Hopefully, don't confisce everybody.

  615. There are a lot of problems in that statement there, but

  616. you need to do something.

  617. So hopefully, like I said.

  618. After today you realize that there are some ofis or

  619. oportuities of improvement, areas of improvement, you do something about it. Okay,

  620. why because you.

  621. Need to grow. So someone would say, how do you

  622. do this? Do I just pray? Do I just read

  623. my Bible?

  624. Yes, that is all important, but there needs to be

  625. other ways to engage further. And how do you do this? Again,

  626. I don't have time to go through this because my

  627. time is almost up. I'm just going to run through

  628. a few things. Back to the hard thing. It's a

  629. heart issue. So if there is no desire, no commitment,

  630. as I said earlier, you need to work on that.

  631. You need to focus on that. Look Daniel, not this Daniel.

  632. Daniel in the Bible. He remains focused. Right, even though

  633. times have changed. Different kings come along different rules that

  634. forbid him from doing things, and he made it illego.

  635. He still did it. Why desire was there, right, he also.

  636. Committed to it, so regardless, he still did it even

  637. though it may cost him his life. Right, Moses spent

  638. forty days on the mountain We've got. You think it's

  639. easier to go up the mountain. It's not some very

  640. taller than Monkakey. I don't know, but you know it

  641. takes a lot to to get there, right, So that's

  642. not give an excuse David, as we said he said earlier,

  643. he made it a continual commitment every day as much

  644. as he can, even though it's busy. Right, he made

  645. a commitment nehim. I even right he's so busy with

  646. the ball building, He's still have constant community with God.

  647. Sometimes it's spontaneous prayers, sometimes it's planned prayers, planned relationship.

  648. It has to happen.

  649. So I'm trying to say, is that your eyes need

  650. to be locked in. You need to be laser focused.

  651. Like I said, one way, discipleship could be the avenue

  652. to help you if you do not have the handles right.

  653. Just like how you want to do something better.

  654. You do not know.

  655. You train with a trainer, right, If you go to

  656. the gym, you can maybe accidentally get fit, But to

  657. go with somebody who knows what he's doing is a

  658. lot more effective. And of course the discipler can also

  659. then journey with you, push you a little bit, give

  660. me another foreign and it'll be more effective. Right, and

  661. whatever transition you go through, your eyes are on Jesus,

  662. just like in those days they kept their eyes on

  663. the ark, kept their eyes on the Lord. Any dramas

  664. that happens around that, they are not faced. And this

  665. is what I mean by building spiritual foundations to engage

  666. his presence. Okay, sorry, taking a lot more time, two

  667. more verses and then I'll stop here. Okay, we're getting

  668. something from here, all right, Salm one hundred. This is

  669. the biblical approach, the formula. Right, let's read might make

  670. a joyful shout to the Lord. Make a joyful shout.

  671. You know today we shouted, right, it's not a quiet

  672. s if it's meant to be jubilan, it's meant to

  673. say yeah, and we do it because that is what

  674. is done. Right. You serve the lot with gladness. See

  675. this part here come before his presence with singing. So

  676. how to enter this presence?

  677. You sing?

  678. Yes, some of us don't have a beautiful voice like

  679. Jade and all that. It doesn't matter. Sing Turn the

  680. volume louder, drown out your own voice.

  681. It's fine.

  682. You're doing unto God anyway. You're not hearing yourself. Okay,

  683. it's fine.

  684. Know the Lord. So know that God. Rather he is God.

  685. I want to skip the worse for entern into his

  686. case if thanksgiving, and into his court's with praise, be

  687. thankful to him, bless his name. For the Lord is good,

  688. his mercy is everlasting, his truth and yours to all generations.

  689. So what I see here right is is a process engineer.

  690. Engineer. It's a process. You do this, you do that,

  691. you do this, you.

  692. Do that, You'll get there, get it. To encounter him,

  693. you need to do all these periodies.

  694. It's first. So sometimes you wonder, how come I'm not

  695. encountering the Lord? Have you done all that? First?

  696. Shout fast la As an example, let's go to another

  697. another psalm Sai miller thing.

  698. Okay, Oh, let's sing to the Lord.

  699. Let us shout joyfully to the rock of our salvation.

  700. Let us come before him before his presence, again, his presence,

  701. with thanksgiving. Shout joyfully to him with sounds. Okay, now

  702. let us worship him and bow down. Let us kneel

  703. before the Lord, our God, our maker, for he is

  704. our God. We are His people were saying about this earlier,

  705. pitst pastures the sheep of his hand. Today, if you'll

  706. hear his voice, don't harden your heart. So essentially, this

  707. part here is very clear. When you draw near to

  708. God through these processes, he will draw near to you.

  709. It's a simple, simplistic, short version of what we've just

  710. read over there. I'm gonna land really in five minutes. Sorry,

  711. get very rouled up about this. Okay, so last night

  712. this is the summary of everything.

  713. Yay. Like I said, it's a process. It's a journey.

  714. First part of it. You need to come with gratitude

  715. and praise.

  716. Shout.

  717. I know shouting takes effort, especially in the morning. You

  718. don't awaken neighbors, aren't wait, your kids are babies up

  719. is fine? You find a screaming a toilet, I don't know,

  720. but shout it does. The mumbling doesn't take any effort

  721. at all. And someone say do I have a capacity

  722. to shout, yes, you do. You see people at sports,

  723. sports events or even at your children's are sporting event,

  724. you know, kicking a ball and they're like, ah, parents

  725. are like going bonkers.

  726. Right, you can?

  727. You can, right, my mom, very quiet, lady, gentle lady.

  728. When batman thing can on the TV or actual's screaming

  729. at the screen, you all crazy, right, So you can

  730. you have the capacity to right.

  731. Don't shy away praising until now.

  732. This is important because you praise right, you are actually

  733. setting You're aligning your body, your soul, spirit. You're actually

  734. getting there, working towards there, working towards what, working towards

  735. flowing until the spirit of worship comes in. Now what

  736. I mean by that, No, sometimes we have a lot

  737. of different songs, you know, the songs bring you to

  738. that position, but we shouldn't just be very restricted to

  739. the number of songs that is there. We sometimes keep

  740. doing it until we get there. So one trying to say,

  741. is this a personal one? Sometimes if you're not there yet,

  742. you keep on doing this until you get there. You

  743. do not stop right just now we're saying, uh, you know,

  744. let everything there has breath, Praise the Lord along those lives.

  745. I can't remember the lyrics, but uh, you know, whether

  746. I'm outnumbered, whether I'm all these other things, we still

  747. as long as I have breath, I will praise the Lord.

  748. But sometimes when we are down, we're like tired, right,

  749. And you wonder why, I wonder why. So again you

  750. need to understand because it's the flow. There's a procedure

  751. you need to get there. So continue use songs until

  752. the spirit of worship comes to you.

  753. Again. You're giving him the praise, not yourself.

  754. Right. And you know when change or when things happen, why,

  755. because suddenly in the presence of God is there with you.

  756. I know, always have felt those movements before.

  757. So you keep on edit until he's there.

  758. Of course he's always been there, but it's next level

  759. there there, right, and you want that because that's when

  760. worship switches on to just sounds, it switches to intimacy.

  761. Things will become quieter, you'll break down, you kneel down,

  762. you cry, you don't know what's happened to you. That

  763. is what I'm saying. Intimacy in another level. Why, because

  764. whatever you're offering God in worship is an exchange. That's

  765. why they say sacrifice or worship. You know you're actually

  766. sacrificing something and you're gaining something, and then eventually you

  767. will hear the voice of God Again.

  768. Communication is not one way. Sometimes you fe that we

  769. are just you wait for the response. Right, it will flow.

  770. But it's not just an audible wise someone you here

  771. what it wasn't fantastic. I rarely have that. But it's

  772. a spirit spirit connection that only can happen after all

  773. those things in place. So essentially why I'm looking at

  774. this is like a it's like a it's like a pipe.

  775. If there's a clock somewhere, go up for the up

  776. the line and see what's clogging it. If if this

  777. is God's model, if David followed this model and he

  778. got there, and this is David after God's a man

  779. after his own heart, right of the God's heart, right

  780. he follows the model, I think unless you can be

  781. at that level, I think we shouldn't break the model.

  782. This is like it engineer is fixed fixed whatever's blocking

  783. up there. Yeah, I think I'm done here, right, so

  784. whereship Bank can come up right now a lot of

  785. things that I've covered today comes from this book called

  786. Hosting the presence from Bill Johnson.

  787. You can look it up. You should have time.

  788. But yeah, relationship is back and forth communication.

  789. And it's key.

  790. It's really important because everything that we do, the most

  791. important thing starts off here.

  792. You see.

  793. Mary recognizes this at the very start, and so she

  794. just drop everything and this focus on this, focus on

  795. the long term, focus on the sustainable stuff. Right, otherwise

  796. you'll be tired. You'll be tired. Right, So you always

  797. have to draw from the Lord. As we come to

  798. an end today, I want you to just close your

  799. eyes wherever you are, let the spirit speak to you.

  800. The Lord has shown us. Let's just choose the term.

  801. Pattern, a pattern for you to engage, for you to

  802. take praise, to worship, to intimacy that leads us to

  803. hearing the voice of God. Don't we all want to

  804. hear the voice of God?

  805. So this just isn't a something.

  806. Of course, it's personal for myself for you as well,

  807. but this also forms the foundation of how you are

  808. to disciple others. And I say you do not have

  809. to be a leader to disciple others. All of us

  810. have got an opportunity to influence others.

  811. We hope you've been blessed by this message. For more

  812. information on our church, please visit as church org. We

  813. are also active on Facebook and Instagram. We're believing that

  814. this week is going to be a good week. I

  815. hit for you. God bless
