  1. You're listening to a message to go from acts church.

  2. We hope this message will light up your day.

  3. But today I'm going to be covering question three, you know,

  4. what is our responsibility in preparing for it? After we

  5. understood understand or understood what revival is. And then of

  6. course we will mid bus a little bit. What is

  7. preventing us from from praying these things from happening? And

  8. the next part there I will talk about, you know,

  9. how can be applied in our daily lives. And I've

  10. broken this down further these five questions into next lie,

  11. sorry about the projection, Okay, it's a little bit wonky,

  12. not a sound.

  13. Sorry.

  14. The next one that's a yep. Okay, that's the one.

  15. So broken it down into three parts. So very first

  16. part was based on Habit cook three two, which I

  17. think we sort of were flashed and saw a little

  18. bit of it earlier. So that that is the cry

  19. for revival and what it is all about. Today I'm

  20. going to covering this part how to prepare the way,

  21. But the first two parts are on revival. The next

  22. part is settling back in discipleship, and I'll explained it'll

  23. make more sense later on or for those of you

  24. who were here before you, you'll probably understand it's a

  25. bit better. But let's just recap a little bit. Firstly,

  26. we established this in the first segment. Revival can only

  27. happen when there is something to revive, right, as simple

  28. as that, it means it has to live first before

  29. you revive.

  30. It makes sense.

  31. I even went on which I always like to do,

  32. going to the word of things. I remember kai ya, right,

  33. not hiya okay, but kai kya to be more specific,

  34. it's the Hebrew word for revive, okay, And it essentially

  35. means to.

  36. Bring back life again that was there, okay.

  37. Basically, if you see all those medical movies when they

  38. resusceited things or they go and put you know, some

  39. electrical search through, it's actually to search something that has

  40. been alive before and then later maybe perhaps have lost

  41. life and then you want to revive it again.

  42. Okay. So you don't search something.

  43. Essentially that has always been dead or it's lifeless. I

  44. won't search this floor, I won't search this table, I

  45. won't search you know, something that's did right.

  46. So that's the main thing.

  47. So in other words, it can only happen if life

  48. existed before and that was.

  49. The main context.

  50. So the other thing that we talked about, if you

  51. understand that context a little bit more, it's about awakening

  52. something that perhaps has been dominant basically lived before but

  53. over time has become dominant. Okay, So that was the

  54. first part, and of course I also you know, went

  55. through the whole dream acronym again just to remind everybody,

  56. remember we went through a whole of most of December

  57. and till in January as well to talk about the vision, right,

  58. and our vision is for the next for until twenty thirty.

  59. But to build that vision, we have these accurrents of

  60. d R A M.

  61. Right. The first one was covered last year. There was

  62. a year off.

  63. Discipleship disciple first, right, And why we learned a lot

  64. about discipleship is because we will't learn the ways of

  65. following Jesus uh, you know, learning how he lived, learning

  66. how he lived with others also wanted to to basically

  67. understand that, so that we set the foundation for this year.

  68. This year is the year of revival. Right.

  69. The reviving again, just to explain, is to kick start

  70. against something that perhaps has not moved for a while,

  71. or has been alive and perhaps has been dominant for

  72. a little while. So that's what revival is all about,

  73. because just uh, if you don't understand the foundation for that,

  74. there's definitely nothing for us to build on in terms

  75. of getting us going again. And that's why it's very

  76. important next year what's next year?

  77. Team? Just out of curious, do you know what's e evangelism?

  78. How many loves evangelism or how many is an expert evangelism?

  79. How many fear the word evangelism?

  80. Okay a little bit, thank you for your honesty, right,

  81. but this is actually a very big word. But if

  82. you understand the context, evangelism is actually made a lot easier,

  83. right if we actually experienced revival, right, And that's why

  84. there is a step by step process to build from decipe,

  85. pushit to you know, revive, you know, being revived, being

  86. reliving again or should you know, like like literally get

  87. our spiritual you know, livelihood up another notch, getting a search,

  88. getting a hit, and then again perhaps after that evangelism

  89. is a lot easier, okay, and then and that's what

  90. the context.

  91. So that's a there's a it's a scaffolding kind of thing.

  92. And of course trending trying to eight is action and

  93. then trend Train nine is the year of missions. Right,

  94. Like I said, evangelism is most of the time a

  95. fearful thing for most people. Why because it's very natural. Right,

  96. we are all, uh, you know, we have relationship people.

  97. Then sometimes we fear rejection. We fear what if we

  98. say something wrong? What if it becomes awkward after that?

  99. Right?

  100. What if you do not know the maybe the language

  101. or the culture to then do the evangelism, et cetera.

  102. That's why revival is important because revival actually gives you

  103. what bondness to do all these things a lot better.

  104. So today it's going to be preparing the way, and

  105. to be more specific, we're going to be recovering, reviving

  106. something that's important, reviving the boldness that is in this.

  107. So the title of today's message would be revive our

  108. hours and you and me bonus boldness, sorry, boldness blood bondness,

  109. Yeah you bonus. You know you work with your manager.

  110. But boldness is what we're talking about. Right, And if

  111. you circle back the time around, we talked about reviving

  112. your why or you are capital y or you are

  113. work right, and it just reminderybody that is God's work

  114. because we also declared that revival actually belongs to the Lord.

  115. It's of the Lord.

  116. It's his sovereignty in terms of how revival works. Even

  117. so we can't demand when it comes.

  118. It's all his.

  119. We are just there to tap into the you know,

  120. to to the revival when, if, and when he wants it. Okay,

  121. to some extent, but we can definitely pray and to

  122. revive our business. And this is what we're going to

  123. be focusing on today. Every okay, so far with the

  124. introduction again sorry, and this is just for the benefit

  125. of those who are not here.

  126. And that's why I say setting the foundation.

  127. So back to revival, right, it can only happen when

  128. something has lived and then you can apply it. So

  129. just like in the physical context you put a search through,

  130. in the spiritual context you used to do the same.

  131. You need to surge it to allow it to live again.

  132. So we're talking about a spiritual awakening, something that maybe

  133. have been dormant in terms of believers, but so far,

  134. you know, it's look warm. We want to let it

  135. live again. And how can we do this? Any guesses

  136. through the spirit of course, more specifically the Holy Spirit,

  137. the power of the Holy Spirit. So this is what

  138. we're going to be covering today. And what better way

  139. to look into spiritual revival than to look into the

  140. Book of X. Right, that's where it all well in

  141. terms of spiritual revival. That's your mainstream biblical revival, the patterns.

  142. So what we're going to be covering now is to

  143. look at, if you're in the right notes, the biblical

  144. patterns of revival. Okay, and this is what we're gonna

  145. be covering. Let's look so this will be coming mainly

  146. from X one to and four. Okay, So let's just

  147. study some patterns and you will see there is some

  148. persistent prayer in there as well. There is people seeking

  149. the Lord. There is also people coming together in unity

  150. before the manifestation of the Holy Spirit actually is seen. Okay,

  151. so let's turn to X chapter one. If you have

  152. your Bible's review, we're gonna be stay in the Book

  153. of X today, So X one two, four, Okay, back

  154. and forth a little bit, but it's all going to

  155. be there. So if you're there, let's just read a

  156. little bit of it, okay, now, just to get some

  157. context as well. This is forty days after.

  158. Jesus Rosamond X chapter one. Okay.

  159. Then he assembled his disciples, and then he commanded them

  160. not to depart from Jerusalem. Chill, stay put, do not

  161. leave first, but wait for what if you if you

  162. look over here, let's just read okay in chapter sorry,

  163. verse three, to whom he presented himself alive, showing that

  164. he's resurrected. Okay, and then sorry, alive after he's suffering

  165. by many infallible proofs, let me showing that I'm resurrected

  166. is me after forty days?

  167. Right?

  168. And then speaking now chapter four, he said they exampled

  169. them together. He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem,

  170. but wait, wait for what, Wait for the promise of

  171. the Father, Father God, right which he said, you have

  172. heard from me for John truly, for John truly baptized

  173. with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy

  174. Spirit not many days from now. So when he actually

  175. met the disciples, they'd be like, oh what this man

  176. that just to wait.

  177. But it's a few days from now.

  178. Something will happen, right, And that's some some some days

  179. from now, which is not mentioned here yet, but we'll

  180. know how how how much longer from there?

  181. And then you can see here it says uh.

  182. Therefore, when they have come together, they have asked them saying, Lord,

  183. will you at this time.

  184. Restore the kingdom to Israel. Okay.

  185. So again the context is he promises a sorry, he

  186. commands for them not to depart, and then he promises

  187. that they, the disciples, will be baptized in verse five

  188. by the Holy Spirit, not many days from now, okay,

  189. coming soon okay, And he says day, So we know

  190. it's not gonna be years, It's going to be soon.

  191. Right. So in verse eight you just skip forward a little.

  192. Bit and he says, here you shall receive power when

  193. the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you shall

  194. be witnessed to me in Jerusalem, in all Judaea Endsmaria.

  195. And to the ends of the earth. Okay. So just

  196. to reflect on this a little bit, just to stop

  197. for a while, you think about it.

  198. Right, these people have hung around Jesus for quite some time,

  199. right before he uh, before he was put it across.

  200. They lived together, they ate together, they did ministry together.

  201. They saw healings, they walked with him. They saw him

  202. drive out even the demens, et cetera. And he saw

  203. healings and of the sick et cetera. And all these

  204. things right were in place, so they know Jesus quite well,

  205. these disciples, right, And yet if you see here, it

  206. seems as though something has been disconnected. When Jesus said, chill,

  207. it's going to come back to you, right, if you

  208. ever thought about it, right, they are saying that she

  209. has he stated here is that hang on wait for me.

  210. I'm gonna go up first. But in that period there

  211. is a period of what's the word like a like

  212. a like a interim period, right that it's not like before,

  213. It's not when the power comes to you.

  214. It's a funny, strange period. But it's going to only

  215. going to be a few days. That's why it says there.

  216. Okay, So in some sense, the verse sort of implies

  217. that they are suddenly powerless during this period. So they

  218. do not know, but they can cling on and know

  219. that Jesus is prom is power.

  220. It will come. And this is why they are, like,

  221. you know, in this position now. So they're waiting. They're waiting.

  222. You can't for them for waiting. Why because Jesus said wait.

  223. You know parents, you know you say wait, wait wait.

  224. The kids are like socially kids these days, right, I

  225. always say that this is the funny generation that people

  226. always want something very quick. Right, they say wait and

  227. in worse point says wait and then it works. It

  228. talks about the gift that's about to come given by

  229. God the Father has promised. Now, just to also focus

  230. on the word power. What's receiving power? Like you know,

  231. for some it's like T and B that's power. Right,

  232. you have a new property or a new place, you

  233. always want to make sure that power comes in otherwise

  234. things cannot work. Right, This is receiving power now. Power

  235. in the Bible right is described as donamous okay.

  236. If you dunamis is.

  237. Where the word dynamite comes from. Hey, when you hear

  238. dynamite is like ou cha, you know, explode? Sorry, canto

  239. is only other thing I know, but yeah. In the

  240. in the description, it talks about supernatural explosive authority of

  241. God used in creation and miracles and also resurrection. That's

  242. the inherent attribute of God. Again, not human but of God, okay.

  243. And this is to enable us as believers through the

  244. Holy Spirit, to witness there's a reason for the power,

  245. and also to overcome any spiritual warfarees that the enemy

  246. may throw your way, and that's the purpose of this power.

  247. It's not just for ourselves.

  248. Okay, that's the Greek definition, by the way, right, I'm Chinese,

  249. So what is the Chinese definition of dunamis?

  250. Yeah, there's dunamis for me? Okay.

  251. Why why is this thing? The first thing that pops

  252. into mind is because the last few days I've been

  253. just it's just keeping me awake, you know, non stop,

  254. especially the nine day, nine day and nine day. It's

  255. just it's just incredibly Yeah. So this is how it contextualize.

  256. Do not miss okay, and how many of you play

  257. fireworks still?

  258. Do yo? Keep keep me awake here? Uh? Okay.

  259. This year has also been a bit strange because you know,

  260. the first few days of CNY it was a bit wet.

  261. So we had something planned, I mean, the cousins had

  262. something planned, but it didn't quite work because of the rain.

  263. So it was at least we didn't contribute to the noise.

  264. But you know, this, this, this photograph, this picture here

  265. is a very common thing now. In fact, nowadays, I

  266. see why there's so many shops like this. There was

  267. there used to be a point of time that you know,

  268. they had a closure or they and this is all

  269. illegal for some time, but now they're back in full

  270. force almost every corner. Uh, you see these shops okay,

  271. And this is a likened to the power. You know,

  272. there's boxes and boxes and boxes of this firepower.

  273. No pun intended.

  274. Also power that is inherent in the package boxes. And

  275. why are these sellers not too afraid of the boxes

  276. if there's so much potential to explode?

  277. Why they're not afraid of it? Have you ever thought

  278. about it? Right? It's because it is not lit. Is

  279. that the cool term that they use.

  280. It's not lit right that the kids the gen zs

  281. or maybe it's already. But yeah, I must understand even

  282. though there is potential, without the proper fuel or ignition

  283. or even a spark, nothing could happen.

  284. And this is exactly what it is. It's inherent.

  285. There is something in this already, but sometimes we need

  286. to engage the Holy Spirit it or wait for the

  287. Holy Spirit to engage so that the spot could then

  288. maximize the potential that's within us. Okay, So that's what

  289. do namis is all about, right, because we can have

  290. all this potential illness if there is no involvement of

  291. Holy Spirit we will not also achieve our purposes, just

  292. like how this will just sit there and not do anything.

  293. Okay. So that so back to the disciples.

  294. They had all the knowledge, they had, all the experiences.

  295. They've seen it being done. I was used to wait

  296. on top and gun and it's so delready right, they've

  297. seen it, right, but somehow they cannot They feel helpless

  298. in that situation. They've also had relationship with Jesus. Don't

  299. get me wrong, they've seen you in enricement. Not it's

  300. just there, but arguably as well, you know, the others,

  301. even the Pharisees and all that. Those they are very

  302. good with the the you know, the the Torah with all.

  303. The rules, even they know all this knowledge is there.

  304. But knowledge doesn't make the extremely mean revival because it's

  305. just your knowledge.

  306. Right, So you have to be very careful with this. Right,

  307. we can be experts of the.

  308. Law, but with doubt the power that comes from God,

  309. nothing is gonna it's gonna go amiss anything. So point

  310. number three is the missing spark. I don't sorry, I

  311. don't have to notes here, but the missing spark, right,

  312. the power of the spirit is important. If you're missing that,

  313. then what's the point of memorizing whole Bible? What's the

  314. point of uh, you know, studying and studying it? Not

  315. even if you don't engage the Holy Spirit, nothing will

  316. happen you just there's no explosion in life, all right,

  317. It's just like the fireworks. Sorry, So next lie, So

  318. revival manifest in power because it does say here right,

  319. when revival comes, power will come. Okay, likened to the dynamite,

  320. do not miss. Potential is present, but the power, sorry,

  321. the potential can only go to the next level when

  322. the spark all the few ignites it.

  323. Okay.

  324. So this comes from verse eight basis you know, you know,

  325. power is inherent is coming all right. So you know

  326. what when the even if you don't want to experience revival,

  327. when the Holy Spirit comes upon you, just like how

  328. if I were to be naughty and go there and

  329. just chick out a lighter and mess around the boxes there,

  330. the boxes cannot elect to say, I'm not going to

  331. get burned, I'm not going to explode. And this is

  332. exactly what revival is all about. When the Holy Spirit

  333. hits you, like it or not, really or not, you

  334. are going to go.

  335. Kaboom.

  336. Okay, so the question next question will be do you

  337. still want to pray for revival? Because we always pray

  338. for revival? Right, who say, oh God, I want revival?

  339. Come?

  340. Are you reading to kaboo? Are you ready to explode

  341. right in a good way?

  342. In a good way? Okay, not not not the anyway. Yeah, anyway,

  343. let's go there. All right, So next point it's the

  344. posture before revival.

  345. Again, I don't have the things there you can write

  346. down point before posture before revival. Let's go back to

  347. X chapter two. Okay, it's in the slide over there.

  348. This is the coming of the Holy Spirit. This is

  349. the day at the Pendeconst. So when the day a

  350. Dependacosts had fully come, they were all with one accord

  351. in one place.

  352. Okay.

  353. Accord means they are united, and they are obviously physically

  354. together as well, these a one hundred and twenty believers.

  355. I think el uh uh.

  356. The Elder King talked about the Upper Room last week. Okay,

  357. this is the upper room that we're talking about. Sony

  358. believers came together. Uh oh, I actually have it as well.

  359. Sorry. The next night I just paused for a while.

  360. The Upper Room meeting. Okay, the prayer, the prayer meeting.

  361. So if we look at all this uh day, they

  362. returned from Jerusalem from the mound called Olivet, which is

  363. near Jerusalem on the Sabbath day's journey. And then when

  364. they had entered, they went up into the upper room

  365. where they were staying. So all these names, Peter, James, John, Andrew,

  366. blah blah blah blah, they were all there and they

  367. all continued with on the court. Not just together how

  368. they have fun, okay, but they were huddling together two.

  369. For prayer and supplication. They're not just play.

  370. They're there. They are actually doing this continuous gethering. And

  371. this comes back to the X one that we've read earlier.

  372. What were they doing.

  373. They were waiting on Jesus say, wait, matter of days.

  374. So this is the matter of days. So there were

  375. ten days to be exact, ten days of continuous gathering,

  376. continuous prayer, continuing, continuous seeking the Lord and believing, believing

  377. in one accord for one united purpose. You see the

  378. power of vision, the power of unity. Before that, right,

  379. they were all probably like you do this, I think

  380. you should do that in but when they come together

  381. there is power in movement. So waiting, guys, is not

  382. a passive thing, by the way, it is actively seeking.

  383. And that's why last time we came about I mean,

  384. I did encourage you to always actively seek, actively pray.

  385. Right and believing in the promise. What's the promise again?

  386. Promise that power will come in the form of the

  387. Holy Spirit.

  388. Right, because John will baptize and then in a few

  389. days you will baptize your whole spreer. Right as you

  390. how many days a prestiicular way, and how many days later?

  391. Ten days?

  392. Okay, ten days from Jesus extension, let me see chowity

  393. he left? Ten days later? Was the day of the Pentecost?

  394. Imagined this ten days of prayers service? Ten days, not

  395. ten nights. Ten days of prayer service, hey, sometimes that

  396. were prayer service are once.

  397. In every two weeks.

  398. People who struggle to you know, to commit, right, it's

  399. ten days in them and why because they prey instructions

  400. in days. But they will show a time is it

  401. really ten days? And again, like I said before, we

  402. are in this generation, right, we want things quick. I

  403. called the McDonald's generation to drive to generation right. You

  404. want your fast food immediately. Now we asked for something

  405. one in minutes, wait for one hours, so can diary,

  406. you know, like ten days, ten days, imagine that and

  407. imagine nothing seemed.

  408. To be happening. But what did they do? They carry on.

  409. Believing, carry on praying, careen, coming together and meeting together. Right,

  410. Why because they're united unity, all right, in one accord?

  411. All right? Now, let's move back to verse two of

  412. our X chapter right, chapter two of verse two as well.

  413. And suddenly then came a sound from heaven, as of

  414. a rushing, mighty wind, and it filled the whole house

  415. where they were sitting. But with them I supposed to end,

  416. I'm not using the time, sure, okay, who we're gonna rush?

  417. Okay?

  418. Then there is It appeared to them divided tongues as

  419. of fires, and one set upon each of them, and

  420. they were filled with the whole spirit and began to

  421. speak with other tongues as the spirit gave them utterance.

  422. So this is the miracle side of things, right, The

  423. power did descend on them.

  424. And what was the response? Verse five?

  425. And then there was they there were dwelling in Jerusalem, Jews,

  426. development from every nation under heaven. And when and when

  427. this sound occurred, the multitude came together, they were confused

  428. because everyone heard them speaking their own language. They were

  429. amazed and marvel and they marveled saying to one another,

  430. look are not all these who speak Galilians? And how

  431. is it that we hear each other's own language in

  432. which we were born? So this is speaking a tongues part,

  433. and of course the verse nine on words the same thing.

  434. They're perplexed, you know, why are they speaking in tongues

  435. all these things that we do not understand?

  436. Someone them, even at the end they says.

  437. Oh, maybe they are drunk their muble okay, But instead

  438. of focusing on the gifts or the power that is

  439. the secondary effect of the gifts.

  440. This is a part the manifestation, of course, But more.

  441. Importantly, if you see the context here, all of them

  442. are talking about how good.

  443. God is in different languages.

  444. Right when they receive the power in their own language, saying,

  445. you know, cold spirits here, how good God is, And

  446. that is revival. That's how revival broke, the first documented

  447. revival ever when there's power, and we did establish this

  448. before hypercook Tree too. You know revive your word right,

  449. Revival belongs to the Lord. The last time I came

  450. up here and spoke about it. Revival is God's work,

  451. and they understand that because that's why this how good

  452. God is in all different languages. Otherwise, the danger is

  453. that we can see it as oh, I've got the power,

  454. got the power. I gotta say that. Yeah, you know

  455. it's all for myself, right. They acknowledge it's God's power.

  456. So that's the amazing part that happened when revival comes.

  457. And if you look very closely, it didn't happen in

  458. a I established the last time.

  459. It didn't happen in a rock concert.

  460. It didn't happen in a conference, although it can happen

  461. in a conference. It happened in a small room where

  462. people come together to prey.

  463. Imagined that point number five when revival comes. What to

  464. expect the exception aside.

  465. Okay, like all those things that the concerts and all that,

  466. don't get me wrong, they are also good. Let's look

  467. at what happens in some historical accounts.

  468. Okay.

  469. And I believe that whenever the church collectively becomes humble,

  470. and I've covered this before, when we set our gender

  471. aside personal agenda, that is, we seek God collectively in

  472. one of the chord, like we've read earlier, revival will come.

  473. So sometimes when we say I wonder why revival don't

  474. come right, it is because maybe perhaps we're still all

  475. you do your thing, I do my thing. We don't

  476. align ourselves, and therefore even praying, uh, it's a wishless

  477. kind of the thing.

  478. We're not even aligning our prayer.

  479. And as I mentioned to you last time, Hypercok has

  480. to humble himself to say, Lord, I see all those

  481. historical things that's happened in the past. I see the

  482. problems as well. You know the first two, the first

  483. two chapters. But in Hyperchook three two, he just hunted

  484. to prayer. I see all that. I'm hungry. I just

  485. wanted it happen again in my lifetime. That's all he

  486. prayed for, right, So the posture, So when revival comes right,

  487. our posture will change. It will no longer be me centric.

  488. It will be God or you know what's the mock

  489. kingdom centric approach. And that's what we want to pray

  490. for as well. And that's what happens in the Pentecost,

  491. all right, even a follow pattern, that's what happened, and

  492. therefore it can happen again when individual prayers, you know,

  493. converge and come together united in accordance to God's will.

  494. And that's what revival is all about.

  495. Why, because at that point in time, they believe in

  496. the same God, they believe in the same vision, and

  497. the specialist vision is very important, right, and we always

  498. believe right vision is of God.

  499. It's not you know.

  500. Of course, we sometidys trusted different leaders to download from

  501. the Lord, but it's still off the Lord and need

  502. to run together now. So next point there, oh wow,

  503. of us revivals activated through community seeking. So this is

  504. when everybody comes together, we seek, we wait on God together.

  505. We believe in the same God.

  506. We believe in the same vision, different individuals as I've

  507. written here, united in.

  508. Faith, vision and purpose.

  509. I mentioned this before the last time around. You know,

  510. we cannot orchestrate revival and you can do formulas. I'm

  511. an engineer, you know, I tend to think that way.

  512. Can I just duplicate or replicate right in the science,

  513. So we call it repeatability, right, right to repeat something

  514. and show that it's not just a coincidence that we

  515. do things and then it happened by chance.

  516. But you know, no matter how.

  517. We can get all the sounds right, all the instruments,

  518. get the right speaker, we can even get the right instruments,

  519. the right mood setting, the space atmosphere, but we cannot

  520. replicate revival. Why because revival belongs to the Lord. So

  521. when he comes he wants to happen, it will happen.

  522. And that's why I have.

  523. A cook create his prayer. Say Lord, I've seen it.

  524. I just wanted to come and happen. But he cannot

  525. say that, or I do do want to ten ab

  526. four c. Everything will come. You cannot. So we can

  527. demand for it to happen in this worship service. We

  528. can demand for it to happen in our church conference,

  529. we can demand for it to happen at home, sell groups,

  530. et cetera. It will not until God allows it, right,

  531. But historical facts, it's more likely to happen in a

  532. prayer service, is what I'm trying to say, not in

  533. a large concert hall, but more likely here.

  534. Okay, because in the Bible is consistently like this. It

  535. broke up in prayer meetings. And that's why we as

  536. a church, we are big on worship.

  537. Where's a big on prayer Because why when if you

  538. really want revival.

  539. Right, how else would it? Byfically, how else can it happen?

  540. I said, even for a pattern, it's mostly gonna happen

  541. at the PS of prayer service, right, So that's why

  542. you gotta go. You gotta be hungry, You got to

  543. seek God together. You can't just leave it for the

  544. few to one that hunger.

  545. They have the hunger. So just a challenge, or rather

  546. a call to you.

  547. If you've never been to a prayer service, and it's fine,

  548. let's start again this year. Let's experience God differently. Come

  549. to prayer service and see God move all right. Now,

  550. you may also say that, oh, this is won't happen

  551. in my lifetime. And now, last time I showed you

  552. right the barrio, the barrio example happened, very closest, ninety

  553. seventy five happened. But let me just say that it

  554. can happen elsewhere as well. You cannot just uh near

  555. and also far. I'm gonna stop here for a while.

  556. I'm just gonna show you a quick video.

  557. What what what?

  558. What is your first thought about what has happened? It

  559. wasn't like the typical revival that you think about all right,

  560. it's just a very simple In fact, the music was

  561. like a bit not so charismatic, right all right, I

  562. don't know.

  563. And after they also delivered worship and that was it.

  564. But this seemingly uh basic prayer service happened.

  565. In in in in ash Ashbury University. So it's actually

  566. a campus uh prayer service. Mkay, no famous bands, no

  567. fancy lights. I would even say that the speaker is

  568. probably not like your typical dynamic revival kind of speaker, right,

  569. but if you look it up, look up Ashbury Revival.

  570. The next day it exploded, just one small prayer like that.

  571. It didn't stop, you know that in that space, right,

  572. people were hungry, people keep coming. At one point it

  573. recorded about fifteen hundred people started small. Fifteen hundred people

  574. came to that place from the whole by town, nearby

  575. town to experience God because they heard revival happening, and

  576. all the people they were just staying on at the

  577. prayer service and they received. What I'm trying to say

  578. here is that sometimes we see revival as a very

  579. different kind of perspective. Can you just play the video

  580. a little bit more just to show you maybe just another.

  581. Half a few seconds. So that was eighth of February.

  582. This is twelveth of February, okay, and people just came.

  583. They flooded the place.

  584. It went all the way to about I think maybe

  585. two weeks later, and they peaked at about seventy thousand people.

  586. I think it stopped there here.

  587. But what I'm trying to say is that when revival

  588. hits you, it's explosive. It is not light, sounds and

  589. all those same things. When the Holy Spirit hits you,

  590. what seemingly seemed like even like a service like this

  591. can actually be very different. Because why when hunger hits you,

  592. when people hears of the revival happening, people want to come.

  593. They were they were out of space, by the way,

  594. and the university had to issue these don't come here anymore.

  595. We've got no more space.

  596. And you can look it up. Like I said, you

  597. look it up. That happened not to long Ones, about

  598. three years ago. I started two also three years ago, right,

  599. And this is just phenomenon all right. And of course

  600. last time I shed the Barrier movement, I think Charles

  601. are going to Barrier soon, right.

  602. Yeah. So for those of you who may not have

  603. heard of.

  604. It, this is a small little village town in very

  605. remote you have to take childers telling me to take

  606. propeller planes to that place. But what also started was

  607. just again a small group of missionaries that went in there. Uh,

  608. there were some some educators and some students. They pray

  609. and then they started confessing sins et cetera. And then

  610. they saw miracles and signs to follow. Revival happened in

  611. a small remote place. Sometimes you think revival it happens

  612. in the in the urban places where we got all

  613. the right fields and sounds and you know environment.

  614. Et cetera. But no, when God.

  615. Moves, when the Holy Spirit moves, like I said, you

  616. were just taboo. Okay, and that's what radical is. Now

  617. let's come back to the first revival. Some observations I've

  618. put up the next line. Okay, So some observations from

  619. the first revival. People stayed together, united in one accord.

  620. There is specific prayer. The next one hundred and twenty

  621. people gathered together continuously to pray for God to move.

  622. They were united on one spirit, one purpose, right, And

  623. why is it like so because there's humidity they want

  624. to seek God, not for themselves. They're realigned it's not

  625. just merely, like I said, a wish list. They're seeking

  626. beyond their own need. They're seeking for God to move

  627. as he wills. And that's what revival is. And I

  628. think established this last time I saw there's going to

  629. be a sudden sovereign move of God. We read it earlier, Right,

  630. all those things, the miracles, tongues of fire, et cetera.

  631. When the spirit comes and dawns upon that place, there

  632. will be manage pectation of miracles. Right, they've spoken different languages,

  633. and of course the practical si it also labels them

  634. to reach those that they may not necessarily know how

  635. to or eat. Luguage is a barrier, you know, that's

  636. a so a practical perrier. But these are all evident

  637. when God loves, when revival happens, I want to skip

  638. past the last one for now transformative outcomes. Of course,

  639. we talk about believeitnessing and all that, But what.

  640. I'm trying to say is that waiting is actually active.

  641. Right.

  642. What are we called to.

  643. Do continually praying and seeking, not a passive kind of waiting?

  644. Right?

  645. When God tells you days are coming, you are to

  646. do what you're called to do.

  647. Okay, now last point, uh, last point.

  648. Yeah, what does revival produce? Okay, revival produces you know

  649. some of the things that recovered there.

  650. Right.

  651. One of the things that I think you have to understand, right,

  652. God was with them at the early start, when Jesus

  653. was walking with them, and then suddenly it felt as

  654. though God wasn't there in the picture, right, and then

  655. when the Holy Spirit come and dawn down on them,

  656. it is.

  657. Not no longer God with us, but God in us.

  658. Right, because we always understand this as well, the Spirit

  659. lives in you, right, So there is a transition when

  660. you're hit when the revival happens. And this also enabled

  661. some of the miracles beyond what we read earlier. You know,

  662. Peter went on to speak his first sermon, right, his

  663. first message, and that you know, Peter is a bit yoyo,

  664. and you know, one moment' is like, oh, you know, fearful.

  665. You know, he denied that one moment is very brady,

  666. go and slash, and then he missed the kind and

  667. he denied. You know, it's his jo yo. So but

  668. when he experience revival, that fear changed into boness. And

  669. that's what I meant by the last point, you will

  670. see transformation happening. And you see transformation happening even in

  671. and true Peter's life, the man who's denied Jesus became

  672. a bold preacher. How many can say that? In your

  673. very first message, there's three hundred people who three thousand

  674. people who say yes, right, imagine that.

  675. Imagine that. So those are the first Revival's characteristics. Right.

  676. So what I'm trying to say is that we have

  677. to always pray for spiritual equipping. Because even God's work,

  678. as good as it is, if you think of God's

  679. were as a fire would as good as it is

  680. if you do not ignite it.

  681. With the help of the Holy Spirit.

  682. It's just like the fireworks that's sitting there in the

  683. box is not a cheap its purpose. Okay, so we

  684. ought to do something about it, all right, So lending now,

  685. I've still got three more minutes.

  686. Okay, lending now, I'm not used to this.

  687. Okay, Next, like, how do we revive or awaken the

  688. bonus winness? Just like how the bonus actually you know,

  689. click started in Peter's life.

  690. You know, how do we do it?

  691. Firstly, we already understand the context of revival, right, it

  692. can only be revived. It is if it's already living

  693. in you. And we also know as believers, the spirit

  694. lives in you.

  695. It's only in you. So maybe you've got to stir

  696. it up a little bit.

  697. Okay, So when that concept is understood, you can then

  698. awaken it.

  699. Okay.

  700. How uh, I'm gonna go through scriptures very fast, okay

  701. X chapter four this is the main one that'm gonna

  702. be covering. The artists wall introduction, Sorry, prayer for Bonus again,

  703. let's be true, and being let go. They went to

  704. their own companions again you see community, Okay. To give

  705. you some context, this is Peter and John. They find

  706. themselves seeing healing happening.

  707. Okay.

  708. They healed a guy who was lame, and then he

  709. walked again. And then this guy was just telling of

  710. his of his of his story of his testimony of healing.

  711. People say that you don't stop it.

  712. And then Peter and John, who are actually thrown into

  713. prison for a while because of that, and then of

  714. course they were also trial okay, and they said, you know,

  715. if you do not stop preaching the good news of Jesus,

  716. you're in trouble.

  717. Okay.

  718. And this is where they they starts here in verse

  719. twenty three. It says Peter, Peter, and John then went

  720. to their companions, okay, and then they raised their voices

  721. again in one accord united. You see the similarities there,

  722. all right. So what I'm trying to say here is

  723. that whenever you're in trouble, sometimes you've got to pray

  724. for bonus. Right, don't just get stuck aer right. Bonus

  725. is definitely something that you can pray for. Then later

  726. you talk about the evangelism and the rest of it.

  727. But if you don't have bonus in you, nothing can happen. Now,

  728. So treat some points to just wrap this holding up

  729. about bonus. Firstly, you need to have the right companions.

  730. Just like before we read, the right community actually matters. Okay,

  731. that's what the Bible says, be in the right community

  732. and together like in verse four, they raise their voices

  733. praying one accord. And that's why we come together the

  734. support that we create in one accord for one purpose

  735. and encourage each other as well, because when it's a

  736. kingdom response and whenever we go to struggles and trials. Right,

  737. let's look at the next slide for the diverse, for

  738. truly against your Holy Servant Jesus, whom you anointed. Let's

  739. skip through to twenty nine. Now, Lord, look on their threads.

  740. Grant to your servants. This is two of them that

  741. with all the bonus, they may speak your word. So

  742. it's talking about them in their person, talking to them,

  743. you know, talking about themselves. But your servant, your you

  744. know I need your you know your servant needs help.

  745. Your all help again anyway by stretching your hand to heal,

  746. and the signs and wonders have done through the name

  747. of your Holy Servant Jesus. And then you see at

  748. the end there it says they are all then filled

  749. with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of

  750. God with bonus. So again just to remind us, they

  751. are also very specific. You can see they are asking

  752. for a very specific things. Sometimes we talk about between

  753. specific things, right, nothing wrong with that, you know, but

  754. sometimes you must understand the posture must be firstly in

  755. the Connertany's will.

  756. And that's why its always your, your, your, your your,

  757. not my I want to.

  758. Heal, I want to do this. It's always your. If

  759. you look at this right, you can count the word

  760. you're about six or seven times in this struck passage,

  761. it's always in reference to your will. And again this

  762. shifts back to this whole sovereignty of God. It's your revival,

  763. your will. I I'm just an agent, I'm just your

  764. servant if you will for it. Of course, when you

  765. see some you download from the Lord, they will will

  766. pray more specifically as well, based on strategies that the

  767. Lord has shown you. So second point is be specific

  768. when you want to pray for those boness after you

  769. hear from God, don't be afraid to pray for healing,

  770. to stretch your hand to pray for boness. Even it's

  771. okay because it's not by our might, all right, but

  772. by His power right. So the motivation is all okay

  773. as long as we're aligned to hypercaltry. To last, but

  774. not least, how to be bold is that we need

  775. to be filled by the Holy Spirit, fresh feeling with

  776. some of it earlier. We talked about it earlier, right,

  777. fresh feeling of the spirit, because when believers pray, they

  778. will be filled.

  779. And when they are.

  780. Filled, you know, they can then go and speak God's

  781. word woordly, just as it's written in verse thirty one.

  782. And that is nutshell.

  783. What you need to do, you need to be felled

  784. by the spirit. But with the spirit then only you're

  785. enabled to be bond and do what you're called to do.

  786. And essentially, right, it's not really praying for bondness, you know,

  787. ess actually praying for God's presence and in that presence

  788. secondary effects, so the bondness that comes with His presence then,

  789. so it's just a reminder again that we need to

  790. seek courage. We need to pray for his presence and

  791. pray for his encounter and pray for his provision for

  792. the bondness to do what God has caused to do.

  793. So just to recap, if you go back up to

  794. the first.

  795. Slides when we talked about the tree, I think it's

  796. the first field slides the crime revival. Preparing a way

  797. is what we just read in X four twenty nine.

  798. So how they prepare.

  799. The way really just true prayer.

  800. Okay, So I hope this has been Okay. I know

  801. it's a bit to digest, right, but because last time

  802. I made it a short Chinese in your message because

  803. I want everybody to have their Chinese dinner besides a

  804. bit extended. But even then, also I think I'm okay

  805. with time, MANI find me is extra every okay? Would

  806. you just stand, just open up your hands. The posture

  807. surrenderm is gonna invite the band up to minister. But yeah, Church,

  808. revival is not, as I close, It's not something that

  809. we can manufacture.

  810. Really, just like Hypercook.

  811. Did, we are to call to surrender it and allow

  812. God to move no matter how you schedule it. How

  813. like I said in my engineering brain tried to replicate it,

  814. you can't.

  815. You cannot control it. All we can do is just

  816. prepare our hearts and pray.

  817. Why because when you pray, you you're not just persistent,

  818. you also have that humidity that comes to prayer. Because

  819. revival belongs to the Lord, and therefore he's the one

  820. that gets awaken it. So, Church, the question is not

  821. whether God wants revival. He definitely wants it, right. The

  822. bigger question is are we really ready for it? Are

  823. we ready to really go kaboo?

  824. Is the question here?

  825. So wherever you are, I pray that you will just

  826. be able to stand all and stand firm and just

  827. have a posture surrender, because to be revived and to

  828. be bold is really this is not true, My own strength,

  829. not true, my own power, but something of You Lord.

  830. We hope you've been blessed by this message. For more

  831. information on our church, please visit aschurch do org. We

  834. hit for you.
