You're listening to a message to go from ex Church.
-
We hope this message will light up your day.
-
Okay, are you guys blessed?
-
Just hearing getting to know Josiah a little bit more,
-
getting to hear his testimony and his journey.
-
Really, God is God is a good God, you know.
-
And I just want to further emphasize that we are
-
not called to walk this journey of faith alone. God
-
has gifted us a church, a body of Christ, and
-
we are meant to journey with one another. Right if
-
only you would open up yourself a little bit more.
-
It is very scary sometimes because you have to be
-
vulnerable when you want to journey with people or to
-
allow people to journey with you. That's why we really
-
encourage discipleship in ex Church. If you're not in a
-
discipleship relationship yet, I would like to encourage you really consider,
-
really think about it, because when you're in a discipleship relationship,
-
you realize that you're not on your own, that you
-
have someone to cheer you on, there's someone to.
-
Write your path as well.
-
If you are too stray, you're having someone to speak
-
into your life.
-
I think that's very very powerful.
-
Amen, are we doing okay, Yeah, Allow me to start
-
with a word of prayer and then we'll go into
-
the word today. Thank you Lord, hell loather load, we
-
thank you love for today. We thank you Lord for
-
your grace and your mercies that are new every morning. Lord,
-
when we wake up, Lord, as we look to you,
-
as we seek your face, Lord, our slate is wipe clean. Lord,
-
You do not look at our trespasses or transgressions as
-
long as we come before you to repent of our ways.
-
Even as we are in u turn learning now reading
-
through Hoseah, we learn how Lord, that your heart pains
-
when people turn away from you. You are a jealous God, Lord,
-
that you want to see us come and be right
-
before you, so that Lord, we can have fellowship with you. Lord,
-
that you can really love on love on us as
-
we love unto you as well. So Lord, I pray
-
God Lord, that your presence will continue to that we
-
will always be in a posture that we can experience
-
your presence, because you never depart from us a lot,
-
your Lord, But we are the ones that are the unfaithful.
-
But Lord, help us to get Lord, to always draw
-
near to you.
-
Help us to always be in the right posture, the
-
right position, to be able to receive your presence, to
-
be able to hear from you.
-
Lord, you bless the word today. Lord. I pray God, Lord,
-
that every.
-
Word that proceeds from my mouth may be glorifying unto you,
-
and may our hearts be soft and open to receive
-
what you have for us today.
-
Thank you, Lord G's name, we pray Amen. Amen. Good
-
morning again.
-
It is a privilege to see all of you here
-
at church this morning.
-
Really, I want to extend a few welcomes.
-
I want will come pasta Stey and Irene for visiting
-
us today. Thank you, Thank you so much for being
-
with us here. I just want to uh say welcome
-
to Johnnie as well. Johnny is from Pinang RGBC, also
-
a friend a friend of x Church RGBC. Thank you,
-
thank you for visiting us. Oh oh yeah, big congratulations
-
Wilson ah having an addition in the family, a new born,
-
all right. Really just just just uh such a joy
-
to hear that everything, the pregnancy and also delivery is smooth.
-
And of course Adeline is now recovering.
-
And yeah yeah, go go and congratulate them later. Okay,
-
really amazing, Okay, cool pass and your says that regards
-
that love to all of you. They can't be here today,
-
but we pray that they will come here soon, all right,
-
that they'll be able to also minister to us. And yeah,
-
how many of us here are participating in Utun.
-
You see your raise of hands? Yeah yeah, yeah, So
-
thank you for just taking that self faith.
-
Also, so for some of you, maybe this is your
-
first time fasting, right, your first experience is fasting.
-
Now you turn.
-
We do this because again, the heart of Euton is
-
you turning back to God.
-
It's aligning our hearts back to God.
-
Of course, many times we say we fast and pray
-
so that God will grand us break truths. I'm going
-
to share a little bit about that later. But the
-
true intent or fasting is to align us back to God,
-
is to bring us back, bring our focus back onto
-
the Lord. And instead of just saying Lord, I want this,
-
Lord help me if this, Lord, bless me with this,
-
we come to a posture where we go.
-
Like, God, what do you want? God?
-
What is your will for my life? What is your
-
will for my church? What's your will for my family?
-
For this nation?
-
When you pray for Malaysia, that's really what you are
-
fasting and praying for for God's will to be done
-
in Malaysia. Right, So that is what fasting is for.
-
And eton is a powerful time. In ext we call
-
it youthan. We do it twenty one days because we
-
don't take this moment to really corporately encourage each other
-
too fast and to also account to each other how
-
the fast thing has been, how the prayer has been,
-
and more importantly, take this moment to go deeper with
-
the lot. Right, And I want to say this, it's
-
not too late to start. We finish one week. Today's
-
day eight, right, eight day nine, today's day nine. There's
-
two more weeks ago. It's never too late to start.
-
You can start today, all right. If you want to
-
know more about you know, we have resources later, we're
-
gonna have it announcements, we have resources available for you,
-
the Devotion Plan, all of that is ready.
-
You can just start where you're are, where you're at, right.
-
You can start today right immediately after church this evening
-
or tomorrow you can start fasting and praying. And really
-
when you do that, it brings you closer to the lot.
-
That is the intention, all right, So today I just
-
want to share a little story for us before we
-
go to the type. So, if Wesley you can help
-
me if the slide, I want to show you a
-
picture of a horse in my house, right, a hose
-
in my house. Okay, what's so special about this host?
-
Nothing really, but I want to share a story. So recently.
-
The hose in my house. This is a high pressure
-
holds that I used to wash car you know and
-
all that. I love high pressure hods.
-
Right, it cleans things very well, right, cleans the posch
-
very well. So so the hose in my house broke recently,
-
about maybe a month ago, right, because maybe all is rubber,
-
it's all it's under the sun. So it cracked, right,
-
It cracked when we did baptism that time for Ada.
-
I remember I was feeling the pool and then cracked.
-
I'm like, this is the worst time for you to crack.
-
I'm trying to fill up the baptism pool. But thank god,
-
it still managed to fill up in time. But but
-
it broke, right, so we had a replacement.
-
We put a new one. There is a new one.
-
So I was really excited because I was like, okay,
-
if we've gone on a few weeks with a broken horse,
-
now I've got this horse, I can clean the car
-
a little bit easier, clean the post a little bit easier.
-
So with it being fixed, uh, and of course, uh, after.
-
It was fixed, I give it a shot. I tried it.
-
I washed the car, but it didn't work. I turned
-
on the hose.
-
What happened was, instead of the water coming out of
-
the end that's supposed to come out to wash a car,
-
it came out from the other end, and instead of
-
the coping washed, I got washed. Right, It's splashed out.
-
It was high pressure, mind you, high pressure. A lot
-
of water is coming out. It's like those film videos
-
that you see on Facebook. Right out You're trying to
-
like scramble get the horse, and then the water is
-
just going everywhere, and I'm just fully drenched. And I
-
was just trying to figure out what in the world
-
is wrong with hose is new So the first thought is, Okay,
-
it's coming out of the wrong end. It's coming out
-
from the part where you turn on the water. It
-
must be the fastener. You know, there's the thing that
-
the metal thing that you fastened.
-
The hose to the to the to the what do
-
you call it, the tap?
-
Right, the tap so I thought it must be that
-
it's an old fastener. We're using the old one. It's rusty.
-
Must be that. So I tightened, tightened, tightened to a
-
point that it creaked and it was gonna break.
-
Time, Like no, no, no, I shouldn't go any further, right,
-
So it baffled, Mean, what is going on? Why is
-
it not working? Then my eyes went to the holes.
-
No water is coming out, water is splashing out. Uh,
-
there must be some water that would have still come out.
-
Right.
-
Then I noticed, do you see this part? The hose
-
was folded, so there were many parts so that the
-
holes that we got, unfortunately, it's not the best. It's
-
very soft, right, So it folded. So there were multiple
-
folds on.
-
The holes that stop the water from coming out.
-
And those holes were quite I would say those folds,
-
I'm like, quite strong to be able to stop high
-
pressure water and cause it to come up from the
-
other end. It's fastened, right. So after that, I just
-
took time to just uncalled the whole thing, and then
-
next thing I know, it worked fine. It worked as intended.
-
The holes you know, everything was had, The holes had
-
the right posture. Right, it's not folded right, there it's
-
blocking the water right, and this is where I'm getting into.
-
Many times in our walk with God, we find ourselves stuck.
-
We find ourselves why are things not working out the
-
way as I thought it would.
-
Why I seem to be doing things right.
-
I think I'm coming to church, I'm attending small group
-
at homes, I'm I'm reading the Bible and praying. But
-
somehow something feels misaligned. Things are not flowing as it should.
-
I want to encourage you in those moments. There's one
-
spiritual discipline that will help us. And you know where
-
I'm getting it, and Jesus taught us that it's the
-
spiritual discipline of fasting. Fast thing again, remember the heart
-
of fast things to align back to God. And there
-
are things in our life. Many times we think we
-
are doing right. We in our own wisdom or maybe
-
in our own patterns, we find that, oh, I've been
-
doing this routinely.
-
It has worked.
-
This has been how I've been doing it for the
-
past five years, and just suddenly it stopped working. And
-
we wonder why. It says something wrong with me, But
-
it has been working on this well. Friends, I want
-
to encourage you fasting when you fast for the Lord,
-
and you're aligned to God. God will reveal things to
-
you that you otherwise wouldn't have known because you are again.
-
Drawing nearer to God. The more you draw near to God,
-
the more you will see things that He wants to
-
show you. Right.
-
For example, maybe God wants to tell you for the
-
past five years your quiet time was five minutes, it's
-
time to up it. And it is true fasting many
-
times that God will reveal these things to you. Hey,
-
you know, because fast thing is a denial of self, right,
-
it's denial of our ways, what we are used to.
-
We're suddenly allowing Holy Spirit to come and feel those
-
spaces and go and tell us, Hey, I think this
-
is a part where you need to adjust a little bit. Right,
-
Maybe at your quiet time, increase the intensity a little
-
bit more, right, Hey, maybe you have grown, your challenges
-
have grown.
-
Your time with the Lord has to grow too. And
-
these are.
-
Things that the Lord will reveal to you true fast thing, right,
-
And that's the encouragement I want to give to you.
-
Right like, in the same way, like this holes, it's
-
not posture right for water to flow properly, Fasting will
-
help us to posture right. The title I have for
-
us today is this, I fast because I'm hungry.
-
I fast because I'm hungry. See fast thing.
-
It's a deeper level of prayer. It's a deeper level
-
of seeking. It's prayer good. Prayer is good, but fasting
-
brings it a step further. Right, Fasting brings it a
-
step further. Fasting postures our spirit towards humility.
-
That's very important.
-
And primes our heart to receive what God wants to
-
tell us. That's what fasting does, right. It brings us
-
to a place of human need to say, oh, I'm
-
fasting my favorite food. It's no longer what I want.
-
It's no longer I eat as I wish. This is
-
for the Lord. That humility is presenting ourselves in a
-
way where God, you are bigger, You are more important,
-
way more important than what I want. What you want
-
is more important. So it postures our heart towards humility,
-
and it primes it postures our spirit towards humility, and
-
it primes our heart to a point of sensitivity that
-
we can hear from the Lord very sharply we can discern.
-
So that's what fasting this. And there's another one for you.
-
Fast thing comes from a deeper desire for God and
-
leads to a deeper desire for God.
-
That's what fasting.
-
You fast because I hope you're not fasting because oh,
-
my friend, I better do it. If not, I look bad, don't.
-
First thing should come from a place of conviction. You're
-
fasting because you have a desire to see God come
-
true for you. You have a desire to go deeper with God.
-
And the amazing thing is it starts from that desire.
-
It also ends with that desire you come into a
-
deeper desire of wanting the Lord. More so, for those
-
of us here who may not know fasting that much,
-
give me. Give me an opportunity to share with you
-
what fast thing is now. First thing the Bible teaches
-
us that it is a crucial discipline in our journey
-
of faith. Right, fast thing is choosing to abstain from
-
food or an activity for a period of time to
-
focus on God. So for us, in excess, you practice
-
twenty one days. I also want to say this first
-
thing is not limited to these twenty one days. Okay,
-
you can do it in your own personal with God.
-
I personally also do that there are days where there
-
are things that I need to pray for our fast,
-
a fast, male fast, certain things, and just take that
-
time maybe one day, two day, or three days or
-
a week, to go deeper with the Lord.
-
To fast for that one thing that is on my heart.
-
All right, So first thing is this is choosing to
-
abstain from food or an activity for a period of time,
-
whether it's males, whether it's games, movies, social media. This
-
discipline helps us to replace the time spend doing all
-
these things to the desire to do, to to take
-
the time to pray, to worship, to read the Bible more.
-
It helps to strengthen our spirit and to help us
-
to hear God's voice even more clearly. Against spiritual fast
-
things always paired with prayer.
-
If not, it is dieting. I've shared this before.
-
Spiritual fast without prayer, it's purely just dieting, right.
-
PASSA. Kenneth recently gave this challenge.
-
Right when he shared with those of us in the
-
Church office in our devotion. He said, I want to
-
challenge you guys, when you fast, don't go a weigh yourself,
-
because it can easily from something that's supposed to be
-
holy and meant for the Lord. We can turn it
-
to be something that is focus on us. Oh fasting, Wow,
-
I lost weiter looking good? So that there's a simple
-
hard check when you fast, what are you fasting for?
-
Right? If you lose weight, praise God. That's God blessing you.
-
All right, But that should not be your main attention,
-
right or when you fast, remember, your attention.
-
Is on the Lord. It's not about us, right, it's
-
not about us.
-
Okay, Fasting is not a performance to show piousness, but
-
a discipline that brings us closer to God. I want
-
to bring our attention to Scripture Matthew six sixteen to eighteen.
-
I'm gonna read from the NLT version. It says this,
-
and this is Jesus teaching. He says, when you fast,
-
don't make it obvious, as the hypocrites do, for they
-
try to look miserable and disheveled so people will admire
-
them for their fasting. See, it's not a performance to
-
show up piousness.
-
I tell you the truth.
-
Jesus continues that that is the only reward they will
-
ever get verse seventeen. But when you fast, comb your
-
hair and wash your face, then no one will notice
-
that you are fasting, except your father, who knows what
-
you're doing, and your father will sees everything will reward you.
-
The first thing is not a performance. We are not
-
men to look oh, put on a sho oh. I
-
want to show the whole world I'm doing a fool fast.
-
So I'm gonna walk slowly intentionally. Then people will ask me, oh,
-
you're okay, Now what fast are you doing?
-
Fool fast? Then it walks slowly. Again, it's not a performance.
-
See the Bible clearly says you do this towards men,
-
men honor you. That's the only reward you'll get. The
-
father in heaven will turn away because that's not the
-
type of fast that please us his heart.
-
The Lord wants us to fast in a way that
-
again our focus is on him.
-
It's not a show, but it's a desire to draw
-
you to God, to say, God, I forsake these desires
-
so that I can have more of you. A pretty
-
descripture would be something we hold on to to remember
-
when we do fast, do it in a way where again,
-
check our hearts. Are we putting on the show or
-
are we seeking the Lord? So why do we fast?
-
I shed it last year as well when I was
-
preaching about fasting. The first thing is this, Jesus himself
-
faster Matthew fall. When Jesus came to earth, there was
-
when he started, right before he started his ministry.
-
Was the first thing he did. He fasted for forty days. Right.
-
See, everything that Jesus did, I want you to know this,
-
everything that Jesus did, none of it was an accident.
-
Everything was intentional. That means when Jesus fasted, he was
-
also giving us a blueprint on the spiritual disciplines that
-
we should practice.
-
When Jesus fasted, he's telling us, hey, you ought to
-
fast to paraphrase, okay, you ought too fast too, Okay.
-
So I hope there is enough encouragement that because Jesus
-
himself did it, we should at least tryler give it
-
a shot. That yeah, fast thing is to help us
-
with our unbelief Matthew seventeen fourteen to twenty one. Right,
-
if you have your bibles, I will encourage you to
-
flip open. It's very long, That's why I didn't put
-
it in the slides. But do do do flip open
-
your bibles. Matthew seventeen fourteen to twenty one. I want
-
us to really earmark this and we're going to go
-
through this together, right, Matthew seventeen.
-
Fourteen to twenty one.
-
Now, Wesley was very kind to put it up on
-
a projection, So if you don't have a Bible that's
-
accessible to you, you can look at the slices. But
-
I want to encourage us flip open your bible. Okay,
-
flip open your Bible. It's a good good practice, right,
-
Matthew seventeen fourteen to twenty one. Day is a word
-
of the Lord. And when they had come to the multitude,
-
a man came to him him meaning Jesus, kneeling down
-
to him and saying, Lord, have mercy on my son,
-
for his an epileptic and suffers severely, for he often
-
falls into the fire and often into the water. So
-
I brought him to your disciples, but they could not
-
cure him. Oh dear, the disciples could not cure him,
-
even after Jesus has told them, I've given you the
-
authority to.
-
Go and heal the sick, but they couldn't do it.
-
Then Jesus answered and said, oh, and this is a
-
rebuke from Jesus. He said, all faithless and perverse generation,
-
How long shall I be with you?
-
How long shall I bear with you? Bring him here
-
to me?
-
And Jesus rebuilt the demon, and he came out of him,
-
and the child was cured from that very hour and
-
verse nineteen. That's where the disciples came to Jesus privately
-
and us.
-
Why could we not cast it out?
-
So Jesus said to them, because of your unbelief. Because
-
of your unbelief, I want you to highlight that. For
-
assuredly I say to you, if you have faith as
-
a mastered seed, you will say to this mountain, move
-
from here today, and it will move, and nothing will
-
be impossible for you. However, this kind does not go
-
out except by prayer and fasting. Jesus rebuild the disciples
-
by saying, you have unbelief in your heart. I've sent
-
you out to heal. But maybe there's a part of
-
you that goes like Suan, not.
-
Can heal? Man? I'm not, Jesus all sure.
-
No, I think this this person is a physician more
-
than it needs Jesus A maybe. Maybe again, I'm having
-
some creative license here. Maybe that was what the disciples
-
had in their hearts. That's why Jesus rebuilt to say,
-
you faithless and perverse generation.
-
Perverse.
-
You guys know the word perverse, meaning to say something
-
that is meant to be you twist it to become
-
some name.
-
It's not.
-
Maybe that was what the disciples had in their heads.
-
The truth is that I go and heal the sick,
-
but they perverted that truth to go like.
-
Maybe Jesus did not mean exactly what he said.
-
Again, creative license, trying to get into the disciples hate
-
and see what they were thinking. But that was what
-
Jesus said, you faithless and perverse generation, bring that boy
-
here and I will heal him.
-
And true enough, the boy was healed. And again Jesus say,
-
the reason why you couldn't cast this demon out because
-
of your unbelief, and he follow up by saying, this
-
demon can only be cast out by prayer and fasting.
-
Now for me, is it safe to say?
-
The way I interpreted this is that, yes, the disciples
-
may have a bit of unbelief in their hearts, but
-
if they were to have faster and pray, they would
-
have been able to cast out that demon. But is
-
it the fast thing that had the power.
-
I don't think so.
-
I think it is the fast thing that help that
-
would have helped them with their unbelief.
-
They would have given them, you know, the faith to
-
be able to cast out that demon.
-
So fast thing. The powerful thing about fast thing is
-
it helps us with our unbelief when we start finding
-
ourselves distant from God, when we find ourselves easily shaken,
-
or maybe we are struggling with our faith.
-
On certain areas of our life.
-
My encouragement to you is this fast because fast thing
-
helps you with your unbelief.
-
It increases your faith.
-
Because you're aligning more and more to God.
-
And here's the cool thing about fast thing. You can
-
start now.
-
There are no prerequisites, There are no or I have
-
to fulfill certain things to get myself rid.
-
No.
-
You can start as simple as now, this evening, I
-
will not have dinner and will take that time and
-
spend it with God. It can start as easily as
-
that fasting helps us without unbelief. You see, when we fast,
-
we come into a place of vulnerability which we will
-
never experience from a place of abundance. Let me read
-
that again. When we fast, we come into a place
-
of vulnerability which we will never experience from a place
-
of abundance. Where we can get what we want to
-
eat whenever wherever. Basically, fasting you are denying yourself of
-
certain things that will either inconvenience you or make you
-
feel uncomfortable. Right inconvenience you or make you feel uncomfortable.
-
Because usually I think all of us we are doing
-
okay when we go through our daily lives right, we
-
won't feel we won't feel that, we won't get It's
-
very hard for us to get to a place of
-
vulnerability because we are in the midst of abundance. Everything's cowped.
-
We want to eat, we can eat. Anytime we want
-
to go and buy dessert, we can. Anytime we feel
-
like indulging in.
-
Certain food, we can.
-
Therefore, we are not able to come into a place
-
of vulnerability. And that's actually what first thing helps us with.
-
It brings us to a place of vulnerability where again
-
we present ourselves as human, as weak before the Lord,
-
to say, Lord, here I am vulnerable, I humble myself.
-
I'm in a place of humility. And there was one
-
that I saw, I think it was John Wesley, that
-
he said that in fasting, it brings you to a
-
place of humiliation. It's not even humility humiliation. What a
-
place of humiliation, That's where God wants us to be.
-
Of course that was.
-
Back then the English that they use, but I hope
-
it gives you a little bit of a bit more
-
meant to what it means to humble ourselves before the Lord.
-
I mean, it's like, really our righteousness, as the t
-
rexts before God, we have nothing to be proud of.
-
And that's where God wants us to be.
-
Coming before him, vulnerable, and that's where He will be
-
able to speak into our lives. That's where we'll be
-
able to experience His Holy Spirit in his fullness. Because
-
we have emptied ourselves. No longer about me, no longer
-
about my achievements. I don't matter as much. God, You
-
always are high. That's where we want to get to.
-
That's where fasting brings us to.
-
I also want to.
-
Say this, this, this was, this is something I didn't
-
mention last year because this is a revelation I got
-
this year.
-
Fast thing.
-
I have different forms, right, we can fast food, we
-
can fast social media, entertainment, we can fast a lot
-
of different things, right, But I want to encourage this.
-
If you're fasting entertainment, you're fasting games, Netflix, social media.
-
Can I encourage you to fast food as well?
-
Because you see, entertainment is not a basic need, but
-
food is. You can say, oh, if I don't watch
-
Netflix out die of boredom, but you won't actually die.
-
But food is a different story. It's a basic physiological need.
-
If you won't have food, you will be weakened. And
-
that's something I want to encourage us to do. Fast food.
-
Not eat fast food, but fast That's a very terrible
-
thing to say during fasting season. Fast food. It's dangerous. Lord,
-
forgive me for stumbling others. Lord, But what I'm trying
-
to say, yeah, fasting.
-
Food is it brings you to an It's another level,
-
I would say, because it's basically that you have. You
-
feel your summer grumbling, You feel tired, you feel weaker.
-
And not to say again, God is not interested in
-
us torturing ourselves. That's not the goal of fasting. Right,
-
If that is your interpretation or your theology of our God,
-
you're believing in a different religion. God is not interested
-
to see us suffer. Right when we fast, the goal
-
is merely to bring us to a position and posture
-
where we are vulnerable enough to hear from the law.
-
That's the goal, and that's why I want to encourage you.
-
And this is a realization. I had this here as well.
-
I learned this from Elder paying Hole. He shared this
-
and I heard him say that. I'm like, yeah, actually,
-
you're right, Elder. Fasting a basic need will bring us
-
deeper into God's presence.
-
So I want to encourage you with that, just taking
-
a little bit of time to share that. So it's
-
very easy.
-
If you are fasting entertainment, right, just add one meal
-
to your fast, right, Just add one meal to your
-
fust right.
-
If your health condition allows. Okay, all right.
-
So that's my encouragement to you. See, when we deny
-
ourselves a physiological need food, for example, it brings us
-
to deeper dependence on God. When we start to realize
-
how human we are, ah are fast a few days
-
hungry until like that ready here.
-
Maybe I'm not as strong as I think when we attempted.
-
Maybe I'm not as firm in my convictions as I think.
-
It really humbles us, and that's where God wants us
-
to be a place of humility.
-
And that's what fasting this.
-
Right first thing makes me remember that I am human,
-
and I need God. He is the one who sustains.
-
He's the one that provides, Lest we become too proud
-
of ourselves to think that we provide for ourselves. When
-
we are fasting, we are also acknowledging that this is
-
something that I cannot touch. Okay, it's something I just
-
want to share with you. Guys, When you fast, you're saying, Okay,
-
I'm gonna fast this meal. You're basically denying that I
-
will not eat if I'm fasting lunch, no matter how
-
hungry I am, how tempted I am.
-
Maybe I'm at a wedding luncheon.
-
I pay two hundred idio, uncle, don't eat man like that.
-
You see, when you it really put your convictions to
-
the test. When you're first right, you really put your
-
convictions to the test. But you see when you when
-
you fast, you're actually acknowledging this is something I won't touch.
-
Is the Lord's sounds familiar tithing is the same.
-
Not only when you fast you are priming yourself to
-
receive from the Lord, you are also acknowledging his lordship
-
over your life.
-
That is powerful. You're saying, God, you are Lord, I
-
am not so your will be done. That is powerful.
-
That's what fasting does. And again, fasting reveals the true
-
condition of our hearts. How many hungry people here? When
-
you first don't raise your hands. Okay, it's okay, it's okay.
-
It reveals because you are in a place of meat
-
and dependency, ye're a bit maybe more short fused, and
-
you realize, maybe I'm not as patient as I thought.
-
I am driving on the road. Thank god, these few
-
days traffic was good. The truth test will be this
-
coming week. Yeah, let's see, let's see, right, But it
-
really reveals the condition of our hearts. If we're easily
-
sweet and tempted, it reveals where we are with our convictions.
-
Right if during fasting we just treated to be a
-
routine and we don't actually experience God, that also reveals
-
a condition of heart, our hearts. Why are we fasting?
-
Is it religiousity? Or is it a relationship with God?
-
That we're doing this? So it reveals So fasting is
-
a very good tool for hard check as well.
-
As I end, I want to end with the second
-
Chronicles twenty verse one to four. I'm gonna read from NKJV.
-
It happened after this that the people of Moab with
-
the people of Emmen and others with them besides the
-
Emmonites came to battle against King Jehoshaphad. Then some came
-
and told Jehoshaphad saying, a great multitude is coming against
-
you from beyond the sea, from Syria, and they are
-
in Heszan Tamar, which is en Geddy verse three. And
-
Jehosepha feared and set himself to seek the Lord and
-
proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah. So Judah gathered together
-
to ask help from the Lord. And from all the
-
cities of Judah they came.
-
To seek the Lord.
-
There were multiple moments in the Old Testament that there
-
are individuals who have called for fast. Namely, you guys,
-
remember esther right called the Jews of Susa to fast,
-
if not fast with me, so that I can approach
-
the king, so that not only I was survived, but
-
all of us will be okay, that we won't be destroyed.
-
But in the same way, King.
-
Jehoshaphat was doing so for Judah because enemies were coming
-
upon them a multitude.
-
Basically, they were going to be crushed. The odds were
-
stacked against them. But what did he do? He feared
-
first thing he feared. How many of us fear in
-
our lives? I do. There are moments in our life
-
I go like, oh God, how in the world going
-
to overcome this? I fear King Johash of fad fear.
-
Then he's then he said this, I'm going to seek
-
the Lord. I'm going to proclaim a fast and get
-
the whole of jud too fast with me. And if
-
you continue reading on, you see how the Lord answered.
-
The Lord spoke to them and said, don't worry, go
-
fight them, I'll be with you. You will overcome.
-
Right. Are you desperate for a change, whatever that may be,
-
whatever situations you're in.
-
Yes, maybe you're not in a life threatening.
-
Situation, but if you are, fast health has been something
-
you struggled with. Well, maybe there's a condition you have, Yes,
-
being like that for a while.
-
Fast? Are you praying for a change in your family? Reconciliation? Fast?
-
Because there are some things Again, we have to understand
-
there is unbelief in our hearts. And what does fast
-
thing do helps us with unbelief? And that's where Jesus said,
-
faith as small as a mustered seed. You ask this
-
mountain to move, it will move. Fast thing gets us
-
to a place of faith.
-
Fast.
-
Maybe your situation is not as life threatening. Maybe you
-
send yourself. My spiritual walk with God has become down.
-
Maybe I've taken this for granted, or what do I do?
-
Lord fast?
-
Let fasting be a catalyst to bring you closer to God.
-
See.
-
I also want to talk about this theology. A lot
-
of us many times we think about fast thing. Again,
-
I started with this fasting. We think all we fast
-
so that we can be blessed. That's not the right
-
posture to have.
-
Fast thing does not directly lead to break through. No
-
fast thing leads us to God and his ways, which
-
leads us to break truths. You see the difference.
-
First thing is not a magical potion or a spell
-
you can cast and your problems will be solved. And
-
it's also not right for us to demand of God
-
just because we fast. Lord, I faster, my piety, My
-
I'm hious again wrong religion, friends, God is not interested
-
in your suffering that in that sense. But God wants
-
to see you first thing, because you want more of
-
Him full stop. And when you align with God, or
-
what wouldn't he do for you? When you say God,
-
your Lord, your will be done? In my life your
-
ways of God, Lord, whatever your ways are, I will follow.
-
Then the break truths will come. That's my encouragement to you.
-
Right so as I close, do allow me to pray
-
for us. He ay by all of us stand.
