  1. You're listening to a message to go from ex Church.

  2. We hope this message will light up your day.

  3. Okay, are you guys blessed?

  4. Just hearing getting to know Josiah a little bit more,

  5. getting to hear his testimony and his journey.

  6. Really, God is God is a good God, you know.

  7. And I just want to further emphasize that we are

  8. not called to walk this journey of faith alone. God

  9. has gifted us a church, a body of Christ, and

  10. we are meant to journey with one another. Right if

  11. only you would open up yourself a little bit more.

  12. It is very scary sometimes because you have to be

  13. vulnerable when you want to journey with people or to

  14. allow people to journey with you. That's why we really

  15. encourage discipleship in ex Church. If you're not in a

  16. discipleship relationship yet, I would like to encourage you really consider,

  17. really think about it, because when you're in a discipleship relationship,

  18. you realize that you're not on your own, that you

  19. have someone to cheer you on, there's someone to.

  20. Write your path as well.

  21. If you are too stray, you're having someone to speak

  22. into your life.

  23. I think that's very very powerful.

  24. Amen, are we doing okay, Yeah, Allow me to start

  25. with a word of prayer and then we'll go into

  26. the word today. Thank you Lord, hell loather load, we

  27. thank you love for today. We thank you Lord for

  28. your grace and your mercies that are new every morning. Lord,

  29. when we wake up, Lord, as we look to you,

  30. as we seek your face, Lord, our slate is wipe clean. Lord,

  31. You do not look at our trespasses or transgressions as

  32. long as we come before you to repent of our ways.

  33. Even as we are in u turn learning now reading

  34. through Hoseah, we learn how Lord, that your heart pains

  35. when people turn away from you. You are a jealous God, Lord,

  36. that you want to see us come and be right

  37. before you, so that Lord, we can have fellowship with you. Lord,

  38. that you can really love on love on us as

  39. we love unto you as well. So Lord, I pray

  40. God Lord, that your presence will continue to that we

  41. will always be in a posture that we can experience

  42. your presence, because you never depart from us a lot,

  43. your Lord, But we are the ones that are the unfaithful.

  44. But Lord, help us to get Lord, to always draw

  45. near to you.

  46. Help us to always be in the right posture, the

  47. right position, to be able to receive your presence, to

  48. be able to hear from you.

  49. Lord, you bless the word today. Lord. I pray God, Lord,

  50. that every.

  51. Word that proceeds from my mouth may be glorifying unto you,

  52. and may our hearts be soft and open to receive

  53. what you have for us today.

  54. Thank you, Lord G's name, we pray Amen. Amen. Good

  55. morning again.

  56. It is a privilege to see all of you here

  57. at church this morning.

  58. Really, I want to extend a few welcomes.

  59. I want will come pasta Stey and Irene for visiting

  60. us today. Thank you, Thank you so much for being

  61. with us here. I just want to uh say welcome

  62. to Johnnie as well. Johnny is from Pinang RGBC, also

  63. a friend a friend of x Church RGBC. Thank you,

  64. thank you for visiting us. Oh oh yeah, big congratulations

  65. Wilson ah having an addition in the family, a new born,

  66. all right. Really just just just uh such a joy

  67. to hear that everything, the pregnancy and also delivery is smooth.

  68. And of course Adeline is now recovering.

  69. And yeah yeah, go go and congratulate them later. Okay,

  70. really amazing, Okay, cool pass and your says that regards

  71. that love to all of you. They can't be here today,

  72. but we pray that they will come here soon, all right,

  73. that they'll be able to also minister to us. And yeah,

  74. how many of us here are participating in Utun.

  75. You see your raise of hands? Yeah yeah, yeah, So

  76. thank you for just taking that self faith.

  77. Also, so for some of you, maybe this is your

  78. first time fasting, right, your first experience is fasting.

  79. Now you turn.

  80. We do this because again, the heart of Euton is

  81. you turning back to God.

  82. It's aligning our hearts back to God.

  83. Of course, many times we say we fast and pray

  84. so that God will grand us break truths. I'm going

  85. to share a little bit about that later. But the

  86. true intent or fasting is to align us back to God,

  87. is to bring us back, bring our focus back onto

  88. the Lord. And instead of just saying Lord, I want this,

  89. Lord help me if this, Lord, bless me with this,

  90. we come to a posture where we go.

  91. Like, God, what do you want? God?

  92. What is your will for my life? What is your

  93. will for my church? What's your will for my family?

  94. For this nation?

  95. When you pray for Malaysia, that's really what you are

  96. fasting and praying for for God's will to be done

  97. in Malaysia. Right, So that is what fasting is for.

  98. And eton is a powerful time. In ext we call

  99. it youthan. We do it twenty one days because we

  100. don't take this moment to really corporately encourage each other

  101. too fast and to also account to each other how

  102. the fast thing has been, how the prayer has been,

  103. and more importantly, take this moment to go deeper with

  104. the lot. Right, And I want to say this, it's

  105. not too late to start. We finish one week. Today's

  106. day eight, right, eight day nine, today's day nine. There's

  107. two more weeks ago. It's never too late to start.

  108. You can start today, all right. If you want to

  109. know more about you know, we have resources later, we're

  110. gonna have it announcements, we have resources available for you,

  111. the Devotion Plan, all of that is ready.

  112. You can just start where you're are, where you're at, right.

  113. You can start today right immediately after church this evening

  114. or tomorrow you can start fasting and praying. And really

  115. when you do that, it brings you closer to the lot.

  116. That is the intention, all right, So today I just

  117. want to share a little story for us before we

  118. go to the type. So, if Wesley you can help

  119. me if the slide, I want to show you a

  120. picture of a horse in my house, right, a hose

  121. in my house. Okay, what's so special about this host?

  122. Nothing really, but I want to share a story. So recently.

  123. The hose in my house. This is a high pressure

  124. holds that I used to wash car you know and

  125. all that. I love high pressure hods.

  126. Right, it cleans things very well, right, cleans the posch

  127. very well. So so the hose in my house broke recently,

  128. about maybe a month ago, right, because maybe all is rubber,

  129. it's all it's under the sun. So it cracked, right,

  130. It cracked when we did baptism that time for Ada.

  131. I remember I was feeling the pool and then cracked.

  132. I'm like, this is the worst time for you to crack.

  133. I'm trying to fill up the baptism pool. But thank god,

  134. it still managed to fill up in time. But but

  135. it broke, right, so we had a replacement.

  136. We put a new one. There is a new one.

  137. So I was really excited because I was like, okay,

  138. if we've gone on a few weeks with a broken horse,

  139. now I've got this horse, I can clean the car

  140. a little bit easier, clean the post a little bit easier.

  141. So with it being fixed, uh, and of course, uh, after.

  142. It was fixed, I give it a shot. I tried it.

  143. I washed the car, but it didn't work. I turned

  144. on the hose.

  145. What happened was, instead of the water coming out of

  146. the end that's supposed to come out to wash a car,

  147. it came out from the other end, and instead of

  148. the coping washed, I got washed. Right, It's splashed out.

  149. It was high pressure, mind you, high pressure. A lot

  150. of water is coming out. It's like those film videos

  151. that you see on Facebook. Right out You're trying to

  152. like scramble get the horse, and then the water is

  153. just going everywhere, and I'm just fully drenched. And I

  154. was just trying to figure out what in the world

  155. is wrong with hose is new So the first thought is, Okay,

  156. it's coming out of the wrong end. It's coming out

  157. from the part where you turn on the water. It

  158. must be the fastener. You know, there's the thing that

  159. the metal thing that you fastened.

  160. The hose to the to the to the what do

  161. you call it, the tap?

  162. Right, the tap so I thought it must be that

  163. it's an old fastener. We're using the old one. It's rusty.

  164. Must be that. So I tightened, tightened, tightened to a

  165. point that it creaked and it was gonna break.

  166. Time, Like no, no, no, I shouldn't go any further, right,

  167. So it baffled, Mean, what is going on? Why is

  168. it not working? Then my eyes went to the holes.

  169. No water is coming out, water is splashing out. Uh,

  170. there must be some water that would have still come out.

  171. Right.

  172. Then I noticed, do you see this part? The hose

  173. was folded, so there were many parts so that the

  174. holes that we got, unfortunately, it's not the best. It's

  175. very soft, right, So it folded. So there were multiple

  176. folds on.

  177. The holes that stop the water from coming out.

  178. And those holes were quite I would say those folds,

  179. I'm like, quite strong to be able to stop high

  180. pressure water and cause it to come up from the

  181. other end. It's fastened, right. So after that, I just

  182. took time to just uncalled the whole thing, and then

  183. next thing I know, it worked fine. It worked as intended.

  184. The holes you know, everything was had, The holes had

  185. the right posture. Right, it's not folded right, there it's

  186. blocking the water right, and this is where I'm getting into.

  187. Many times in our walk with God, we find ourselves stuck.

  188. We find ourselves why are things not working out the

  189. way as I thought it would.

  190. Why I seem to be doing things right.

  191. I think I'm coming to church, I'm attending small group

  192. at homes, I'm I'm reading the Bible and praying. But

  193. somehow something feels misaligned. Things are not flowing as it should.

  194. I want to encourage you in those moments. There's one

  195. spiritual discipline that will help us. And you know where

  196. I'm getting it, and Jesus taught us that it's the

  197. spiritual discipline of fasting. Fast thing again, remember the heart

  198. of fast things to align back to God. And there

  199. are things in our life. Many times we think we

  200. are doing right. We in our own wisdom or maybe

  201. in our own patterns, we find that, oh, I've been

  202. doing this routinely.

  203. It has worked.

  204. This has been how I've been doing it for the

  205. past five years, and just suddenly it stopped working. And

  206. we wonder why. It says something wrong with me, But

  207. it has been working on this well. Friends, I want

  208. to encourage you fasting when you fast for the Lord,

  209. and you're aligned to God. God will reveal things to

  210. you that you otherwise wouldn't have known because you are again.

  211. Drawing nearer to God. The more you draw near to God,

  212. the more you will see things that He wants to

  213. show you. Right.

  214. For example, maybe God wants to tell you for the

  215. past five years your quiet time was five minutes, it's

  216. time to up it. And it is true fasting many

  217. times that God will reveal these things to you. Hey,

  218. you know, because fast thing is a denial of self, right,

  219. it's denial of our ways, what we are used to.

  220. We're suddenly allowing Holy Spirit to come and feel those

  221. spaces and go and tell us, Hey, I think this

  222. is a part where you need to adjust a little bit. Right,

  223. Maybe at your quiet time, increase the intensity a little

  224. bit more, right, Hey, maybe you have grown, your challenges

  225. have grown.

  226. Your time with the Lord has to grow too. And

  227. these are.

  228. Things that the Lord will reveal to you true fast thing, right,

  229. And that's the encouragement I want to give to you.

  230. Right like, in the same way, like this holes, it's

  231. not posture right for water to flow properly, Fasting will

  232. help us to posture right. The title I have for

  233. us today is this, I fast because I'm hungry.

  234. I fast because I'm hungry. See fast thing.

  235. It's a deeper level of prayer. It's a deeper level

  236. of seeking. It's prayer good. Prayer is good, but fasting

  237. brings it a step further. Right, Fasting brings it a

  238. step further. Fasting postures our spirit towards humility.

  239. That's very important.

  240. And primes our heart to receive what God wants to

  241. tell us. That's what fasting does, right. It brings us

  242. to a place of human need to say, oh, I'm

  243. fasting my favorite food. It's no longer what I want.

  244. It's no longer I eat as I wish. This is

  245. for the Lord. That humility is presenting ourselves in a

  246. way where God, you are bigger, You are more important,

  247. way more important than what I want. What you want

  248. is more important. So it postures our heart towards humility,

  249. and it primes it postures our spirit towards humility, and

  250. it primes our heart to a point of sensitivity that

  251. we can hear from the Lord very sharply we can discern.

  252. So that's what fasting this. And there's another one for you.

  253. Fast thing comes from a deeper desire for God and

  254. leads to a deeper desire for God.

  255. That's what fasting.

  256. You fast because I hope you're not fasting because oh,

  257. my friend, I better do it. If not, I look bad, don't.

  258. First thing should come from a place of conviction. You're

  259. fasting because you have a desire to see God come

  260. true for you. You have a desire to go deeper with God.

  261. And the amazing thing is it starts from that desire.

  262. It also ends with that desire you come into a

  263. deeper desire of wanting the Lord. More so, for those

  264. of us here who may not know fasting that much,

  265. give me. Give me an opportunity to share with you

  266. what fast thing is now. First thing the Bible teaches

  267. us that it is a crucial discipline in our journey

  268. of faith. Right, fast thing is choosing to abstain from

  269. food or an activity for a period of time to

  270. focus on God. So for us, in excess, you practice

  271. twenty one days. I also want to say this first

  272. thing is not limited to these twenty one days. Okay,

  273. you can do it in your own personal with God.

  274. I personally also do that there are days where there

  275. are things that I need to pray for our fast,

  276. a fast, male fast, certain things, and just take that

  277. time maybe one day, two day, or three days or

  278. a week, to go deeper with the Lord.

  279. To fast for that one thing that is on my heart.

  280. All right, So first thing is this is choosing to

  281. abstain from food or an activity for a period of time,

  282. whether it's males, whether it's games, movies, social media. This

  283. discipline helps us to replace the time spend doing all

  284. these things to the desire to do, to to take

  285. the time to pray, to worship, to read the Bible more.

  286. It helps to strengthen our spirit and to help us

  287. to hear God's voice even more clearly. Against spiritual fast

  288. things always paired with prayer.

  289. If not, it is dieting. I've shared this before.

  290. Spiritual fast without prayer, it's purely just dieting, right.

  291. PASSA. Kenneth recently gave this challenge.

  292. Right when he shared with those of us in the

  293. Church office in our devotion. He said, I want to

  294. challenge you guys, when you fast, don't go a weigh yourself,

  295. because it can easily from something that's supposed to be

  296. holy and meant for the Lord. We can turn it

  297. to be something that is focus on us. Oh fasting, Wow,

  298. I lost weiter looking good? So that there's a simple

  299. hard check when you fast, what are you fasting for?

  300. Right? If you lose weight, praise God. That's God blessing you.

  301. All right, But that should not be your main attention,

  302. right or when you fast, remember, your attention.

  303. Is on the Lord. It's not about us, right, it's

  304. not about us.

  305. Okay, Fasting is not a performance to show piousness, but

  306. a discipline that brings us closer to God. I want

  307. to bring our attention to Scripture Matthew six sixteen to eighteen.

  308. I'm gonna read from the NLT version. It says this,

  309. and this is Jesus teaching. He says, when you fast,

  310. don't make it obvious, as the hypocrites do, for they

  311. try to look miserable and disheveled so people will admire

  312. them for their fasting. See, it's not a performance to

  313. show up piousness.

  314. I tell you the truth.

  315. Jesus continues that that is the only reward they will

  316. ever get verse seventeen. But when you fast, comb your

  317. hair and wash your face, then no one will notice

  318. that you are fasting, except your father, who knows what

  319. you're doing, and your father will sees everything will reward you.

  320. The first thing is not a performance. We are not

  321. men to look oh, put on a sho oh. I

  322. want to show the whole world I'm doing a fool fast.

  323. So I'm gonna walk slowly intentionally. Then people will ask me, oh,

  324. you're okay, Now what fast are you doing?

  325. Fool fast? Then it walks slowly. Again, it's not a performance.

  326. See the Bible clearly says you do this towards men,

  327. men honor you. That's the only reward you'll get. The

  328. father in heaven will turn away because that's not the

  329. type of fast that please us his heart.

  330. The Lord wants us to fast in a way that

  331. again our focus is on him.

  332. It's not a show, but it's a desire to draw

  333. you to God, to say, God, I forsake these desires

  334. so that I can have more of you. A pretty

  335. descripture would be something we hold on to to remember

  336. when we do fast, do it in a way where again,

  337. check our hearts. Are we putting on the show or

  338. are we seeking the Lord? So why do we fast?

  339. I shed it last year as well when I was

  340. preaching about fasting. The first thing is this, Jesus himself

  341. faster Matthew fall. When Jesus came to earth, there was

  342. when he started, right before he started his ministry.

  343. Was the first thing he did. He fasted for forty days. Right.

  344. See, everything that Jesus did, I want you to know this,

  345. everything that Jesus did, none of it was an accident.

  346. Everything was intentional. That means when Jesus fasted, he was

  347. also giving us a blueprint on the spiritual disciplines that

  348. we should practice.

  349. When Jesus fasted, he's telling us, hey, you ought to

  350. fast to paraphrase, okay, you ought too fast too, Okay.

  351. So I hope there is enough encouragement that because Jesus

  352. himself did it, we should at least tryler give it

  353. a shot. That yeah, fast thing is to help us

  354. with our unbelief Matthew seventeen fourteen to twenty one. Right,

  355. if you have your bibles, I will encourage you to

  356. flip open. It's very long, That's why I didn't put

  357. it in the slides. But do do do flip open

  358. your bibles. Matthew seventeen fourteen to twenty one. I want

  359. us to really earmark this and we're going to go

  360. through this together, right, Matthew seventeen.

  361. Fourteen to twenty one.

  362. Now, Wesley was very kind to put it up on

  363. a projection, So if you don't have a Bible that's

  364. accessible to you, you can look at the slices. But

  365. I want to encourage us flip open your bible. Okay,

  366. flip open your Bible. It's a good good practice, right,

  367. Matthew seventeen fourteen to twenty one. Day is a word

  368. of the Lord. And when they had come to the multitude,

  369. a man came to him him meaning Jesus, kneeling down

  370. to him and saying, Lord, have mercy on my son,

  371. for his an epileptic and suffers severely, for he often

  372. falls into the fire and often into the water. So

  373. I brought him to your disciples, but they could not

  374. cure him. Oh dear, the disciples could not cure him,

  375. even after Jesus has told them, I've given you the

  376. authority to.

  377. Go and heal the sick, but they couldn't do it.

  378. Then Jesus answered and said, oh, and this is a

  379. rebuke from Jesus. He said, all faithless and perverse generation,

  380. How long shall I be with you?

  381. How long shall I bear with you? Bring him here

  382. to me?

  383. And Jesus rebuilt the demon, and he came out of him,

  384. and the child was cured from that very hour and

  385. verse nineteen. That's where the disciples came to Jesus privately

  386. and us.

  387. Why could we not cast it out?

  388. So Jesus said to them, because of your unbelief. Because

  389. of your unbelief, I want you to highlight that. For

  390. assuredly I say to you, if you have faith as

  391. a mastered seed, you will say to this mountain, move

  392. from here today, and it will move, and nothing will

  393. be impossible for you. However, this kind does not go

  394. out except by prayer and fasting. Jesus rebuild the disciples

  395. by saying, you have unbelief in your heart. I've sent

  396. you out to heal. But maybe there's a part of

  397. you that goes like Suan, not.

  398. Can heal? Man? I'm not, Jesus all sure.

  399. No, I think this this person is a physician more

  400. than it needs Jesus A maybe. Maybe again, I'm having

  401. some creative license here. Maybe that was what the disciples

  402. had in their hearts. That's why Jesus rebuilt to say,

  403. you faithless and perverse generation.

  404. Perverse.

  405. You guys know the word perverse, meaning to say something

  406. that is meant to be you twist it to become

  407. some name.

  408. It's not.

  409. Maybe that was what the disciples had in their heads.

  410. The truth is that I go and heal the sick,

  411. but they perverted that truth to go like.

  412. Maybe Jesus did not mean exactly what he said.

  413. Again, creative license, trying to get into the disciples hate

  414. and see what they were thinking. But that was what

  415. Jesus said, you faithless and perverse generation, bring that boy

  416. here and I will heal him.

  417. And true enough, the boy was healed. And again Jesus say,

  418. the reason why you couldn't cast this demon out because

  419. of your unbelief, and he follow up by saying, this

  420. demon can only be cast out by prayer and fasting.

  421. Now for me, is it safe to say?

  422. The way I interpreted this is that, yes, the disciples

  423. may have a bit of unbelief in their hearts, but

  424. if they were to have faster and pray, they would

  425. have been able to cast out that demon. But is

  426. it the fast thing that had the power.

  427. I don't think so.

  428. I think it is the fast thing that help that

  429. would have helped them with their unbelief.

  430. They would have given them, you know, the faith to

  431. be able to cast out that demon.

  432. So fast thing. The powerful thing about fast thing is

  433. it helps us with our unbelief when we start finding

  434. ourselves distant from God, when we find ourselves easily shaken,

  435. or maybe we are struggling with our faith.

  436. On certain areas of our life.

  437. My encouragement to you is this fast because fast thing

  438. helps you with your unbelief.

  439. It increases your faith.

  440. Because you're aligning more and more to God.

  441. And here's the cool thing about fast thing. You can

  442. start now.

  443. There are no prerequisites, There are no or I have

  444. to fulfill certain things to get myself rid.

  445. No.

  446. You can start as simple as now, this evening, I

  447. will not have dinner and will take that time and

  448. spend it with God. It can start as easily as

  449. that fasting helps us without unbelief. You see, when we fast,

  450. we come into a place of vulnerability which we will

  451. never experience from a place of abundance. Let me read

  452. that again. When we fast, we come into a place

  453. of vulnerability which we will never experience from a place

  454. of abundance. Where we can get what we want to

  455. eat whenever wherever. Basically, fasting you are denying yourself of

  456. certain things that will either inconvenience you or make you

  457. feel uncomfortable. Right inconvenience you or make you feel uncomfortable.

  458. Because usually I think all of us we are doing

  459. okay when we go through our daily lives right, we

  460. won't feel we won't feel that, we won't get It's

  461. very hard for us to get to a place of

  462. vulnerability because we are in the midst of abundance. Everything's cowped.

  463. We want to eat, we can eat. Anytime we want

  464. to go and buy dessert, we can. Anytime we feel

  465. like indulging in.

  466. Certain food, we can.

  467. Therefore, we are not able to come into a place

  468. of vulnerability. And that's actually what first thing helps us with.

  469. It brings us to a place of vulnerability where again

  470. we present ourselves as human, as weak before the Lord,

  471. to say, Lord, here I am vulnerable, I humble myself.

  472. I'm in a place of humility. And there was one

  473. that I saw, I think it was John Wesley, that

  474. he said that in fasting, it brings you to a

  475. place of humiliation. It's not even humility humiliation. What a

  476. place of humiliation, That's where God wants us to be.

  477. Of course that was.

  478. Back then the English that they use, but I hope

  479. it gives you a little bit of a bit more

  480. meant to what it means to humble ourselves before the Lord.

  481. I mean, it's like, really our righteousness, as the t

  482. rexts before God, we have nothing to be proud of.

  483. And that's where God wants us to be.

  484. Coming before him, vulnerable, and that's where He will be

  485. able to speak into our lives. That's where we'll be

  486. able to experience His Holy Spirit in his fullness. Because

  487. we have emptied ourselves. No longer about me, no longer

  488. about my achievements. I don't matter as much. God, You

  489. always are high. That's where we want to get to.

  490. That's where fasting brings us to.

  491. I also want to.

  492. Say this, this, this was, this is something I didn't

  493. mention last year because this is a revelation I got

  494. this year.

  495. Fast thing.

  496. I have different forms, right, we can fast food, we

  497. can fast social media, entertainment, we can fast a lot

  498. of different things, right, But I want to encourage this.

  499. If you're fasting entertainment, you're fasting games, Netflix, social media.

  500. Can I encourage you to fast food as well?

  501. Because you see, entertainment is not a basic need, but

  502. food is. You can say, oh, if I don't watch

  503. Netflix out die of boredom, but you won't actually die.

  504. But food is a different story. It's a basic physiological need.

  505. If you won't have food, you will be weakened. And

  506. that's something I want to encourage us to do. Fast food.

  507. Not eat fast food, but fast That's a very terrible

  508. thing to say during fasting season. Fast food. It's dangerous. Lord,

  509. forgive me for stumbling others. Lord, But what I'm trying

  510. to say, yeah, fasting.

  511. Food is it brings you to an It's another level,

  512. I would say, because it's basically that you have. You

  513. feel your summer grumbling, You feel tired, you feel weaker.

  514. And not to say again, God is not interested in

  515. us torturing ourselves. That's not the goal of fasting. Right,

  516. If that is your interpretation or your theology of our God,

  517. you're believing in a different religion. God is not interested

  518. to see us suffer. Right when we fast, the goal

  519. is merely to bring us to a position and posture

  520. where we are vulnerable enough to hear from the law.

  521. That's the goal, and that's why I want to encourage you.

  522. And this is a realization. I had this here as well.

  523. I learned this from Elder paying Hole. He shared this

  524. and I heard him say that. I'm like, yeah, actually,

  525. you're right, Elder. Fasting a basic need will bring us

  526. deeper into God's presence.

  527. So I want to encourage you with that, just taking

  528. a little bit of time to share that. So it's

  529. very easy.

  530. If you are fasting entertainment, right, just add one meal

  531. to your fast, right, Just add one meal to your

  532. fust right.

  533. If your health condition allows. Okay, all right.

  534. So that's my encouragement to you. See, when we deny

  535. ourselves a physiological need food, for example, it brings us

  536. to deeper dependence on God. When we start to realize

  537. how human we are, ah are fast a few days

  538. hungry until like that ready here.

  539. Maybe I'm not as strong as I think when we attempted.

  540. Maybe I'm not as firm in my convictions as I think.

  541. It really humbles us, and that's where God wants us

  542. to be a place of humility.

  543. And that's what fasting this.

  544. Right first thing makes me remember that I am human,

  545. and I need God. He is the one who sustains.

  546. He's the one that provides, Lest we become too proud

  547. of ourselves to think that we provide for ourselves. When

  548. we are fasting, we are also acknowledging that this is

  549. something that I cannot touch. Okay, it's something I just

  550. want to share with you. Guys, When you fast, you're saying, Okay,

  551. I'm gonna fast this meal. You're basically denying that I

  552. will not eat if I'm fasting lunch, no matter how

  553. hungry I am, how tempted I am.

  554. Maybe I'm at a wedding luncheon.

  555. I pay two hundred idio, uncle, don't eat man like that.

  556. You see, when you it really put your convictions to

  557. the test. When you're first right, you really put your

  558. convictions to the test. But you see when you when

  559. you fast, you're actually acknowledging this is something I won't touch.

  560. Is the Lord's sounds familiar tithing is the same.

  561. Not only when you fast you are priming yourself to

  562. receive from the Lord, you are also acknowledging his lordship

  563. over your life.

  564. That is powerful. You're saying, God, you are Lord, I

  565. am not so your will be done. That is powerful.

  566. That's what fasting does. And again, fasting reveals the true

  567. condition of our hearts. How many hungry people here? When

  568. you first don't raise your hands. Okay, it's okay, it's okay.

  569. It reveals because you are in a place of meat

  570. and dependency, ye're a bit maybe more short fused, and

  571. you realize, maybe I'm not as patient as I thought.

  572. I am driving on the road. Thank god, these few

  573. days traffic was good. The truth test will be this

  574. coming week. Yeah, let's see, let's see, right, But it

  575. really reveals the condition of our hearts. If we're easily

  576. sweet and tempted, it reveals where we are with our convictions.

  577. Right if during fasting we just treated to be a

  578. routine and we don't actually experience God, that also reveals

  579. a condition of heart, our hearts. Why are we fasting?

  580. Is it religiousity? Or is it a relationship with God?

  581. That we're doing this? So it reveals So fasting is

  582. a very good tool for hard check as well.

  583. As I end, I want to end with the second

  584. Chronicles twenty verse one to four. I'm gonna read from NKJV.

  585. It happened after this that the people of Moab with

  586. the people of Emmen and others with them besides the

  587. Emmonites came to battle against King Jehoshaphad. Then some came

  588. and told Jehoshaphad saying, a great multitude is coming against

  589. you from beyond the sea, from Syria, and they are

  590. in Heszan Tamar, which is en Geddy verse three. And

  591. Jehosepha feared and set himself to seek the Lord and

  592. proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah. So Judah gathered together

  593. to ask help from the Lord. And from all the

  594. cities of Judah they came.

  595. To seek the Lord.

  596. There were multiple moments in the Old Testament that there

  597. are individuals who have called for fast. Namely, you guys,

  598. remember esther right called the Jews of Susa to fast,

  599. if not fast with me, so that I can approach

  600. the king, so that not only I was survived, but

  601. all of us will be okay, that we won't be destroyed.

  602. But in the same way, King.

  603. Jehoshaphat was doing so for Judah because enemies were coming

  604. upon them a multitude.

  605. Basically, they were going to be crushed. The odds were

  606. stacked against them. But what did he do? He feared

  607. first thing he feared. How many of us fear in

  608. our lives? I do. There are moments in our life

  609. I go like, oh God, how in the world going

  610. to overcome this? I fear King Johash of fad fear.

  611. Then he's then he said this, I'm going to seek

  612. the Lord. I'm going to proclaim a fast and get

  613. the whole of jud too fast with me. And if

  614. you continue reading on, you see how the Lord answered.

  615. The Lord spoke to them and said, don't worry, go

  616. fight them, I'll be with you. You will overcome.

  617. Right. Are you desperate for a change, whatever that may be,

  618. whatever situations you're in.

  619. Yes, maybe you're not in a life threatening.

  620. Situation, but if you are, fast health has been something

  621. you struggled with. Well, maybe there's a condition you have, Yes,

  622. being like that for a while.

  623. Fast? Are you praying for a change in your family? Reconciliation? Fast?

  624. Because there are some things Again, we have to understand

  625. there is unbelief in our hearts. And what does fast

  626. thing do helps us with unbelief? And that's where Jesus said,

  627. faith as small as a mustered seed. You ask this

  628. mountain to move, it will move. Fast thing gets us

  629. to a place of faith.

  630. Fast.

  631. Maybe your situation is not as life threatening. Maybe you

  632. send yourself. My spiritual walk with God has become down.

  633. Maybe I've taken this for granted, or what do I do?

  634. Lord fast?

  635. Let fasting be a catalyst to bring you closer to God.

  636. See.

  637. I also want to talk about this theology. A lot

  638. of us many times we think about fast thing. Again,

  639. I started with this fasting. We think all we fast

  640. so that we can be blessed. That's not the right

  641. posture to have.

  642. Fast thing does not directly lead to break through. No

  643. fast thing leads us to God and his ways, which

  644. leads us to break truths. You see the difference.

  645. First thing is not a magical potion or a spell

  646. you can cast and your problems will be solved. And

  647. it's also not right for us to demand of God

  648. just because we fast. Lord, I faster, my piety, My

  649. I'm hious again wrong religion, friends, God is not interested

  650. in your suffering that in that sense. But God wants

  651. to see you first thing, because you want more of

  652. Him full stop. And when you align with God, or

  653. what wouldn't he do for you? When you say God,

  654. your Lord, your will be done? In my life your

  655. ways of God, Lord, whatever your ways are, I will follow.

  656. Then the break truths will come. That's my encouragement to you.

  657. Right so as I close, do allow me to pray

  658. for us. He ay by all of us stand.

  659. We hope you've been blessed by this message. For more
