  1. You're listening to a message to go from axt church.

  2. We hope this message will light.

  3. Up your tea. Dying to live, Dying to live, the

  4. secret to spiritual power? Wow, secret to spiritual power. Okay,

  5. we guys, I tell you a spoiler. There's no secret. Okay,

  6. it's all in the Bible. It's a secret because maybe

  7. you didn't find it. So now I show it to you.

  8. Then you realize that atally it's not a secret. It's

  9. been there all this time. Okay, So dying to live.

  10. So the picture here is the explosive power when the

  11. Holy Spirit, they said the dunamis power is dynamite, dynamite.

  12. You can a dina. Even a dynamite cannot explode quietly.

  13. You know. The small US example of a dynamite is

  14. your pop up. You know, you playing Chinese here, you

  15. have your pop pops and then you throw it on

  16. the floor. It also makes a small pop. But a dynamite.

  17. If the Holy Spirit the word dunamis power, it means right,

  18. it has a major impact. It has a major impact

  19. in our lives, and it has a major impact on

  20. the people around us. And that is the kind of power.

  21. I'm like man, how come I don't I'm not experiencing

  22. that kind of power? What is the difference? What am

  23. I missing?

  24. You know?

  25. So next night, so the paradox of power. So at one,

  26. this is when Jesus told the disciples, you shall receive

  27. power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and

  28. you shall be my witnesses to me in Jerusalem, in

  29. all Judea, Samaria, and to the end of the earth.

  30. This same power. If we are having the same power, okay,

  31. I'm just giving you putting it up front. We have

  32. this same power, okay, and this same power. How powerful

  33. was it? This power was so powerful that it turned

  34. a coward into a world changer. That was Peter, you know,

  35. from someone who denied Jesus into the first sermon, converting

  36. three thousand. They went to the temple. For example, imagine

  37. on your way to church today you saw someone begging

  38. for money and stuff like that, and then you're like,

  39. silver and gold have I none? But you may, or

  40. Jesus rise up and walk. That was how that is

  41. the power Peter had. Can you imagine if you're coming

  42. to church this morning you saw someone who was disabled

  43. who was asking for alms, and you if you have.

  44. If not, If you have, we have the same power.

  45. We should be able to do that if the Holy

  46. Spirit leads us to But why can't we do it?

  47. Or why is it not happening? Is it because it

  48. only happened in it's due to the time. That means

  49. only I think it was thirty three eighty right or

  50. sometimes after Jesus. Right now, it's like two thousand years

  51. has passed, So maybe time has changed, Maybe the Holy

  52. Spirit has changed. You know what, God is the same yesterday,

  53. today and forever. He's the same. What has changed? We

  54. we have changed. So if the spirit, if the power

  55. the spirit is not working, it's not there's something wrong

  56. with the spirit. Is something wrong with who the Spirit

  57. is living in? Again? Right? This is not a condemnation message.

  58. This is how I process things because I want to

  59. live with the power of the Holy Spirit. Okay, so

  60. this is my thought process. So I'm not condemning anybody.

  61. I'm telling you right now, I am not living. I

  62. am not satisfied with how much of the power of

  63. the Holy Spirit that is living in me, and I

  64. am not doing what X one It says that I

  65. shall be your witness in Jerusalem in Samaria and to

  66. the ends of the earth. Okay, so this is me.

  67. The question is if I have the Holy Spirit, why

  68. am I not living with His power? That's the question. Okay,

  69. that's the question. And this question, right, it is the

  70. same question that kept like this morning, I woke up

  71. like four am. I'm like, cannot sleep. I'm like, man,

  72. we got disgusting this question. I'm like, I need to sleep,

  73. you know, I need to sleep. I need to because

  74. I had to put all this together, you know. And

  75. is this this question is the question that has been

  76. bugging me. I mean ever since I prepared the first one.

  77. But it's I could never put things together, and then

  78. it just so happened that then now Sunday, like sundly

  79. four am, suddenly without the alarm, suddenly wake up. They're like,

  80. I forced myself to sleep, cannot fight wake up. After that,

  81. I'm like, I'm just gonna get up and try and

  82. work on this. Okay, So next thanks, Like so powerless.

  83. Christianity is the result of a spirit inhabited life, but

  84. governed by a self centered heart. So what this means

  85. is that we have accepted Jesus Christ as our personal

  86. Lord and savior. Yes, Holy Spirit lives in us. Yes,

  87. Does the Holy Spirit govern us?

  88. No?

  89. Because if the Holy Spirit governs us, then we will

  90. do whatever he tells us to do, and we will

  91. live according to what he wants us to live, and

  92. that's when his power will be manifested. You know. But

  93. most of the time why I am probably struggling is

  94. because instead of allowing the Holy Spirit to govern my life,

  95. I am falling back to the flesh. The flesh is like, okay, hey,

  96. the Holy Spirit asks you to go and speak to somebody. Okay,

  97. that's what For example, Holy Spirit tells you, Hey, go

  98. and speak to this person. Tired too, tired, it's been

  99. a long day. I'm tired. I'm not going to do it.

  100. Someone else will speak to this person. And just like that,

  101. you are diminishing the Holy Spirit's power in your life.

  102. Each no is putting the Spirit more and more into

  103. a box. He's still in your life, but he has

  104. less You are giving him less power and authority, and

  105. you're giving the flesh more and more authority. There's no

  106. middle middle ground in your life. There is a flesh

  107. and the Spirit. You either give the spirit more ground

  108. or you give the flesh more ground. Each decision we

  109. make is a vote into who is governing our life. Okay,

  110. next life. So what does Jesus say, right, Because Jesus

  111. said in one x one eight, wait here, and the

  112. Holy Spirit will come upon you, and you will receive power.

  113. He told this to who his disciples. What are disciples?

  114. Disciples are those who follow Jesus. But what does it

  115. mean to follow Jesus? So what it means to follow

  116. Jesus is Luke nine twenty three. If anyone desires to

  117. come after me, let him deny himself and take up

  118. his cross daily and follow me. So this is actually

  119. a prerequisite to act one e. You know that most

  120. of the time, right, we think that a I accepted

  121. Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and savior, I got

  122. a free ticket to haven't I got the golden ticket?

  123. You know? You know, Willy Wonka, you found a golden

  124. ticket and then you can go into the chocolate factory.

  125. Most of the time, that's Christians we think like that.

  126. But this is the secret. This is the secret to

  127. having a spiritual to living with the full power of

  128. the Holy Spirit, which is to let deny himself, take

  129. up his cross daily, and follow Jesus. The key word

  130. here is daily. Okay. So the three distinct actions deny itself,

  131. take up the cross, and follow. You cannot skip to

  132. the third without doing the first two. You can't say

  133. that you're a follower of Jesus if you don't deny yourself. First,

  134. take up your cross, and then follow. Okay. And we

  135. may have done this once. You might have done this

  136. during a church cam, during a youth cam. Jesus, I

  137. give you my life, I give you you send me

  138. to the ends of the earth. You come up for

  139. altar call, but next day you forgot about it. So

  140. I'm not saying you haven't done it before. But Jesus

  141. says we have to do it daily. You have to

  142. come to the altar daily, surrender our lives, daily, die,

  143. and then follow him. It's a daily thing. Unless you

  144. don't sleep right. All of us sleep right, you sleep,

  145. you wake up. Then it's a reset. Okay. So let's

  146. go a bit deeper into it next night. So deny himself.

  147. So what does it mean to deny himself? That means

  148. there are things in our life that we are we prefer, Okay, Like,

  149. for example, we will always prefer to do something that

  150. is easier. We prefer to do something that is within

  151. our comfort zone. We prefer to do something that is safe,

  152. you know, that will not get us into trouble, that

  153. we have full control of. That is what we naturally do,

  154. any of us. You purposely go and look for danger, like, hey,

  155. I'm bored today, Let's go and look for danger, you know,

  156. or whatever it is. Most of the time we would

  157. want to be in a safe place. We want to

  158. have full control. But when he says deny ourselves, it

  159. means whatever is important to me must be second. I

  160. need to put what is important to the Holy Spirit first,

  161. and what is important that the Holy Spirit usually is

  162. the opposite of the flesh. That's the tough part. That's

  163. why you must always choose whether you want to say

  164. yes to the Holy Spirit or yes to the flesh. Okay,

  165. so your surrendered rights, your opinions, your your preferences, and

  166. agendas are no longer the ultimate authority. You know right now,

  167. the main thing is feelings. You this make your decision

  168. based on how you feel, and feelings are driven by

  169. the flesh. You know, how many of us right you

  170. feel like, wow, you feel awesome? Getting up tomorrow and

  171. going to work. How many? I'm all right, you don't

  172. if you go by feelings, right, I think majority of

  173. us will not get up and go to work tomorrow.

  174. But the fact is we still get up and go

  175. to work tomorrow. It's because we don't decide based on

  176. feelings when it comes to the natural. If we decide

  177. based on feelings, then we will not have food on

  178. our table, we will not have been able to provide,

  179. we won't have a roof over our head, we won't

  180. have a car, we won't be able to provide for

  181. our kids or our parents. Right, we do things because

  182. we have a responsibility to do so, and not by

  183. emotions of feelings. But when it comes to the things

  184. of God, suddenly it's like, hey, I don't feel like

  185. doing it, and feelings seems to take precedents. So it

  186. is a shift in the center from what do I

  187. want to do versus what does God wants me to do?

  188. So every decision you make you can evaluate it what

  189. do I want to do versus what God wants me

  190. to do. The more you walk closer to God, the

  191. more it becomes that what you want to do is

  192. what God wants you to do. Then you know you're

  193. walking in alignment with God. But if what you want

  194. to do is the opposite, then you know that it's

  195. decision that you take that on will make you work

  196. further and further away from Him. Okay, so this is

  197. the first one denying ourselves. Next next is crucified. Yes,

  198. take up his cross. So take up the cross. You

  199. know right now, the cross is like a fashion symbol.

  200. You know, some people weary as a fashion symbol. They

  201. think it's cool. Some people they wear it on their

  202. T shirt. Some people get tattoos of a cross. In

  203. terms of it. But in Jesus' time, the cross only

  204. had one meaning that it was for the worst kind

  205. of criminals. And that's what Jesus said, take up your cross.

  206. Take out a cross means to die, That means to

  207. kill whatever fleshly desired that we have. You don't carry

  208. a cross to be uncomfortable. You don't carry it for

  209. inconvenience or difficulty. You carry it because you want to

  210. die to self. So you carry a cross to die.

  211. You don't carry across just to like punish yourself or

  212. whatever it is. You carry across to die. And crucifixion

  213. is the end of the self will, so that the

  214. divine will can rain. Only when one thing ends can

  215. something else start. And that's why you have to do it.

  216. What daily? Okay, next, that's why there's a daily death

  217. and there's a daily resurrection. Only if there's a daily death,

  218. will there be a daily resurrection. You don't wait for

  219. resurrection on Easter. They were like man once one day

  220. in three hundred and sixty five days, only we celebrate

  221. the resurrection. No, we should be celebrating the resurrection every

  222. single day, because that's what Jesus' command is to us

  223. every morning. So Luke adds the word daily. It is

  224. not a one time crisis decision. It's not like Jesus,

  225. I surrender my life to you, like for example, you

  226. say the salvation prayer the first time you get saved,

  227. or you'd say it and then you forget about it.

  228. That's why whenever we say the Salvation prayer at the end. Right,

  229. even as we are Christians, I still believe that we

  230. need to re dedicate our lives every single day because

  231. if not, our fleshly desires will keep on coming up.

  232. So it is a morning by morning practice and crucified

  233. again is every morning the self resurrects with its own

  234. plans and lust. Every morning it must be led back

  235. to the cross and be crucified again. Do you believe this?

  236. An example is every morning, when your alarm clock rings,

  237. you got two decisions. One decision is snooze. One decision

  238. is to wake up straight away. So right when you asleep,

  239. the flesh rose up again. The moment your alarm rings,

  240. the flesh is awake and tells you snooze versus why

  241. did you set the alarm in the first place, The flesh,

  242. as you said, the alarm. You know, you set the

  243. alarm because because you have obligations, you know, and stuff

  244. like that. But if, for example, if you set the

  245. alarm because you want to do your daily devotion at

  246. a certain time, and you went to sleep saying that

  247. you set the alarm so that I'll wake up at

  248. six to do my devotion, the first decision itself is

  249. already a decision of flesh versus the Holy Spirit when

  250. the alarm rings, and each decision after that will follow. Oh,

  251. that first decision, because once you snooze, what happens. All

  252. of us know this story, right, All of us know

  253. this story. Nothing ever good came out from losing. Right,

  254. we either U came late, you forgot your khakis, you've

  255. got your phone. You you start shouting at the kids,

  256. the kids, and so we come late, and you know

  257. it's a it's a whole thing. But it all starts

  258. with a decision. They start on the flesh, and that's

  259. why we have to on a daily basis, die to flesh,

  260. take it, deniw ourselves, take up the cross, which is

  261. to dive to flesh, and then follow Jesus, which is

  262. resurrect So the purpose of dying is not that itself,

  263. but the liberation to follow. So this is by Born Hoffer.

  264. He was a German preacher. So you think about it,

  265. most of us are we say, well, Christians are very difficult.

  266. Every time must die, die to sell, die die. It's

  267. not the full story. You die so that you may live.

  268. That's why the title of the sermon we die to live.

  269. If we don't die to sell, we cannot live the

  270. life God intended us to live. So by dying to self,

  271. we liberate ourselves. We have freedom, We have freedom from

  272. the flesh. And that's why this this phrase. The purpose

  273. of dying is not that itself. Don't think about it

  274. very difficult Christian. You know, most people like you you're

  275. probably have heard this from your friends or whatever. Being

  276. a Christian, marihana everything cannot. Everything must die to itself

  277. in a sense of saying everything cannot. You know, I

  278. can't do anything that I want to do. But we

  279. got the wrong concept, because if we do everything that

  280. we wanted to do, then we will be in a mess.

  281. But if we do what God wants us to do

  282. and do less of what we feel like doing, that's

  283. when we can experience freedom. Okay, So next light, So

  284. this is from Galatians sixteen, verse seventeen. So there is

  285. a difference between the flesh and the spirit. He says here,

  286. I say, then walk in the spirit, and you shall

  287. not fulfill the last of the flesh. The flesh lasts

  288. against the spirit, and the spirit against the flesh. These

  289. are contrary to one another, so that you do not

  290. do the things that you wish. You see, you cannot

  291. have the flesh and the spirit guiding you at the

  292. same time. That's why I was thinking, why am I

  293. not living in the power of the Holy Spirit. It's

  294. probably because I keep on choosing that the answers of

  295. the flesh, which leads me further and further away from

  296. where the Holy Spirit wants me to be and where

  297. the Holy Spirit. If it leads me further and further

  298. from where the Holy Spirit wants to be, then there

  299. won't be the power of the Holy Spirit in me

  300. being manifested because I'm not where he wants me to be. Right,

  301. So can we go to verse nineteen? So what happens

  302. if we walk in the flesh? Okay? Now, the works

  303. of the flesh are evident, which are adultery, phnication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousy,

  304. outbursts of rass, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murder, drunkenness, revelries,

  305. and the like of which I tell you beforehand. Just

  306. I told, as I told you in the time past,

  307. that those who practice such things will not inherit the

  308. Kingdom of So I told you. It starts the moment

  309. our alarm clock rings. There is a battle between the

  310. spirit and the flesh. And the works of the flesh

  311. is this, And do you know that the world is

  312. in this place? The world is getting more and more evil,

  313. because more and more people are succumbing to the flesh.

  314. And when you see all these items here, right, it's

  315. all about what's in it for me? You look at it.

  316. Why envy, why murder, why drunkenness? Why everything is pointing

  317. towards me getting what I want, regardless of who gets hurt,

  318. regardless of what happens to everyone else. But what is

  319. it if we live by the spirit next verse? But

  320. the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, long suffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,

  321. next gentleness and self control I think verse twenty three, Yeah,

  322. against shut such there is no law. So when we

  323. choose the Holy Spirit, the fruits of the Holy Spirit

  324. become so real in our lives. But if we choose

  325. the works of the flesh, then those are the results.

  326. So if I go back to my slight next light,

  327. so the evidence of the flesh. So like what I mentioned,

  328. just all right, So there will be relational, moral, spiritual,

  329. and social. But the main thing you can see that

  330. the root here is all self. We are doing it

  331. because of self protection, self gratification, self sovereignty, and we

  332. want to exalt self. If we choose the works of

  333. the flesh, we will keep on choosing things that will

  334. put us in the center. When we put us in

  335. the center, who is not in the center God? And

  336. the result of that, the evidence of it is all

  337. of this hatred, contention, jealousies, wrath, selfish ambitions, and all

  338. this is because we chose so works are manufactured fast

  339. and require human effort to sustain. You know, if you

  340. want jealousy right, you will work harder. You will force

  341. yourself to work harder, or you will slender other people,

  342. you know, any you because you continuously want to do

  343. that until you become the top. It takes a lot

  344. of effort. It takes a lot of effort, and it

  345. destroys everyone around you, including yourself. But the Holy Spirit,

  346. if you take follow what the Holy Spirit wants you

  347. to do do, then you will have the fruit of

  348. the Spirit, which is next light, love, joy, peace, long suffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness,

  349. and self control. And fruit is okay, you can't force

  350. fruit to grow, but if you choose the Holy sp

  351. Spirit daily, this fruit will just manifest. You don't have

  352. to worry about making this fruit happen. The fruit of

  353. the Holy Spirit will just appear in our lives. So

  354. if we want more love, joy, peace. We want more

  355. power of the Holy Spirit in us. Do we have

  356. these characteristics? If we do have these characteristics, it means

  357. that the fruit of the Spirit is growing in us.

  358. And it's because we are choosing to follow his leading.

  359. So fruit, it is not produced by striving. It grows

  360. naturally when the tree is healthy. Right, So where do

  361. we go from here? Where do we go from here?

  362. Next night? I think there's one slide it before this?

  363. He sorry, yeah, yeah, correct thislike yeah, So think of

  364. it this way. Our life is a garden. We're thinking

  365. that why do I have to die to self every day? Right?

  366. Why do I have to die to self every day?

  367. It's very tiring. How many of you all love gardening? Okay,

  368. some of you all love gardening? Do you know that gardening? Right,

  369. it's a it's a daily effort on some people. They

  370. may not be daily, but periodic. That means, right, you

  371. cannot just plant the garden and just leave it. What

  372. will happen if you don't. There'll be weeds, you'll be

  373. la lang, there will be uh yeah, there will be

  374. so many become a forest, you'll become yeah, there will

  375. be past, there will be different things. But there needs

  376. to be a daily maintenance to remove the things that

  377. you do not want in your garden. The same thing

  378. happens in our lives. We need to daily remove the

  379. weeds of self in our lives so that the fruit

  380. of the spirit can grow healthily. If we don't, the

  381. weeds will take over. That's why the secret is daily.

  382. The secret is what Jesus said, right that to surrender

  383. our lives, to take up the cross daily and follow him,

  384. then we will have the fruit of the spirit. Okay, next,

  385. so how do we go from here? This is like grand,

  386. This is like how so now we need to know? Okay,

  387. we know all that. Why probably I'm not experiencing the

  388. fruit of the spirit is maybe because I've been choosing

  389. more of the flesh instead of the spirit. So what

  390. do I need to do? What do I need to do?

  391. So what we need to do is every time we

  392. are faced with a decision. I know it might be tiring,

  393. but think of it as big decisions are don't like

  394. do I have to have coffee or tea? Not the

  395. kind of decisions, but decisions that have weigh on your conscience. Okay,

  396. is the flesh or the spirit driving? This is the

  397. flesh or the spirit driving this decision. So if the

  398. spirit is the first step is you obey the prompting,

  399. you step out in faith. Okay. Next, when you obey

  400. the prompting, you become small are sensitive to the Holy Spirit.

  401. So when you become more sensitive to the Holy Spirit,

  402. the Holy Spirit will say that, hey, I will prompt

  403. you even more because you are listening to me. You're

  404. not ignoring me. So I'll increase the prompting. And when

  405. it becomes an active dialogue that the Holy Spirit suddenly

  406. becomes one in your life. He's not just a part

  407. of your devotion. He's entwined in your life, in your

  408. decision making. It becomes an active dialogue. And that's how

  409. we live to become powerful Christians. That's how the disciples

  410. in the First Church lived every decision they made. They're like,

  411. Holy Spirit, what do you want me to do? Holy spread?

  412. What's next? Holy Spirit? You asked me to ask the

  413. laymen to stand up, I will do it. You ask

  414. me to go preach to three thousand, I will preach.

  415. You asked me to do this, I will do this.

  416. And that's how the power of the Holy Spirit manifested.

  417. There was no light. I think that, well, that's quite embarrassing.

  418. Holy Spirit, he asked me to go ahead, ask the

  419. laymen to stand up if it doesn't stand up. How

  420. most of the time I also be asking that question, right,

  421. But that's why I don't experience the power the Holy Spirit,

  422. because instead of obeying him, I questioned him, and then

  423. I choose the flesh, which is self preservation on a

  424. safe face. And when I say face, I don't experience

  425. the power the Holy Spirit. So this is the This

  426. is how we grow closer to the Holy Spread and

  427. experience his power. But the inverse is also true. The

  428. inverse is if you ignore the prompting, then you will

  429. get less prompting, less sensitive to the Holy Spirit. When

  430. you get less sensitive to the Holy Spirit, you suddenly

  431. feel like, hey, God is not speaking to me. Why

  432. God not? Why I feel very far away from God?

  433. I feel very dry. Church is boring and stuff like that,

  434. because suddenly you're very far away. And then what happens

  435. is powerless Christianity. So you accept Jesus Christ as your

  436. personal Lord and Savior while you're not experiencing the power

  437. of the Holy Spirit in our daily lives and church.

  438. This is where I'm asking us are we powerless Christians?

  439. This is a question that I had to ask myself.

  440. Am I a powerless Christian? That means I know accept

  441. Jesus Christ is my personal law and savior, but I'm

  442. not experiencing the power in my daily life.
