You're listening to a message to go from asks church.
-
We hope this message will light up your day.
-
So I'm gonna start by asking a question.
-
Are we okay with questions? Yeah?
-
So I don't like to be up on the stage
-
because I cannot come to you, huh, Because I like
-
to come near to you and make sure you don't
-
fall asleep. Aha, you're joking, joking, joking. I'm sure you
-
don't fall a sleeper.
-
Okay. So the first question, and this is a question
-
for you.
-
I want you to take time to think about it,
-
and then I will probably come to you and ask
-
you for an answer. Okay, think about it. Yeah, this question,
-
who is Jesus to you?
-
Okay?
-
The question is who is Jesus to you? Okay, I
-
see some smiles. I'm giving you some moments to think
-
about it. Think about the ans, sir.
-
Okay. So I'm gonna go to Andy. Who's Jesus to you? Okay?
-
Okay, he's into his worship leading mode?
-
Right, the one who broke his chain? Yeah? Cool? Great, great,
-
great John John. Who's Jesus to you?
-
He's God, but he also changes in different circumstances. Okay,
-
So so you you experience different parts of God. Okay,
-
maybe I have to correct a bit of theology. God
-
doesn't change, by the way, Yeah, yeah, I'm sure you
-
know what that man. He's just saying that he experiences
-
different parts of God in different seasons of his life.
-
Yeah. Is more more like it? Yeah yeah, okay. The
-
Word of.
-
God says that God does not change. Yeah, so we
-
experienced him differently.
-
Okay, cool.
-
But Julian, who is Jesus to you saviors? How many
-
of you agree that Jesus your savior?
-
Okay?
-
Okay, okay, cool, cool, Let's see who else? Can I
-
go to Joanne?
-
Who's Jesus to you? Savior? Savior? Savior?
-
Okay, only savior, comforter, provider. Yeah, okay. So we know
-
Jesus by many names. We know Jesus by many names,
-
And do you know the thing is right? I think
-
this question is very deep. This is very deep question
-
because how you process this question and how you answer
-
actually determines how you live your life.
-
True or not? Okay?
-
So do you know that many people and I'm speaking
-
to believer us here, right, I'm speaking to faithful people.
-
But the thing is right? How how would you share Jesus.
-
To someone else who do don't know God. Okay, so
-
let's let's turn that question around a little bit. How
-
would you share Jesus to someone who does not know
-
him anyone? How would you share Jesus to someone who
-
do not know him at all? What would you say? Sorry, friend,
-
Jesus is a friend. Jesus is a friend. Okay, Jesus
-
is a friend. Okay?
-
Uh? What else? What else?
-
What else would you how else would you share Jesus
-
with your friends? With your friends, we people who do
-
not know who God is. He's a god who came
-
and to die for us? Okay, have you tried that before?
-
Kind of? And what was the response? Yeah? Yeah, So you're.
-
Sharing your friends, right who don't know about God and
-
you say, yeah, Jesus is the one who came to
-
die and across uh?
-
Yeah?
-
And what was their response from from dea?
-
How you know? Okay? How you know? How you know? Truly?
-
How do you know? Give me the proof youw me
-
to prove?
-
Right?
-
Okay? Okay? What else? What else?
-
How else would you share Jesus with someone who do
-
not know God? Your life experience, your life experience, Yeah,
-
your life experiences. You know your own testimonies. By the way,
-
was it Kareem? Thank you for sharing that testimony. I
-
was so blessed to hear that, and I was thinking, wow, okay,
-
no need message, really no, I think your testimony.
-
Cover everything already. But you see, the thing is.
-
Right, when we encounter people, there are many perceptions about
-
who Jesus is.
-
Yeah, do you agree?
-
There are many perceptions of who Jesus is. Some people
-
think that Jesus is a legend. Do you know what
-
legend is?
-
Right?
-
Someone who lived before? Yeah, maybe he was a good teacher.
-
Have you ever heard of that? Jesus as a good teacher,
-
Jesus as the miracle worker? Yeah, Jesus who is God
-
who answers prayers. Right, there's so many parts of Jesus
-
that we know of. Okay, so some will say that, yeah,
-
he's a legend, he's a good teacher. Right, he can't
-
perform miracles, some might we can go to the next light.
-
So who is Jesus to you?
-
He could be a legend, he could be what's the
-
next one?
-
A liar.
-
Like some of our encounters, right, Like, yeah, Jesus said
-
that he would you know, tear down the temple and
-
rebuild it and raise it up in three days?
-
Is that true? Do you believe it? Do you believe it?
-
Did you know what I'm talking about? Sorry, you're looking
-
at me like.
-
Your eyes like like go fish like blinking like it.
-
I'm like, did I lose you already? Yeah? Do you
-
know what I'm saying? So everything? If you okay, I'm
-
going to ask you this other question.
-
Right, if you believe everything that Jesus says? Do you
-
believe everything that Jesus says in the Bible? Is there
-
anything that you have questions on? Are there any questionable
-
thoughts or things that you're like, yeah, this one very
-
had to believe that Jesus says. You know, I will,
-
you know, you will do greater miracles than I did.
-
Jesus say anyone believe that anyone exercised that? Not quite yet?
-
Like huh, you mean what I can raise the Dad?
-
Do you believe that? So if you don't believe it,
-
then you're making Jesus out to be a liar, like
-
I don't think so. Because Jesus say rights, you either
-
think that whatever he said is real or it's not.
-
They cannot be two sides. You can't stand on the
-
fence and say, yeah, he is. This part is real,
-
but this part is not real.
-
You know.
-
That's the word that says God is uh. He will
-
bring down his wrath on those who who do not
-
believe him right and put you out, you know, with
-
gnashing of teeth.
-
You have you read that before? You like, cannot be.
-
God is so good, God is so loving and kind.
-
How can he punish people?
-
You see what I'm going Some parts of the word
-
of God, we find it very hard to accept, and
-
so we're like, oh, Jesus, you can't be saying this, right,
-
You can't possibly be saying this.
-
Some people think that Jesus is a lunatic. Do you
-
know what?
-
When he was walking on earth, right just before he
-
went to the cross, he told his disciples, Okay, you
-
must eat off my flesh and drink of my blood.
-
Anyone want to drink some blood after this espresso? I
-
don't know what your server Someone's uh, Okay, it's type
-
AB today.
-
The blood today is type AB, so please drink of it.
-
And you know, yeah, and then it's someone's flesh, someone
-
who who died recently. Oh, and Jesus says, if you
-
do not eat my flesh and drink of my blood.
-
You have no part of me.
-
And to some of the disciples at time, do you
-
know that that's when all of them left, the other
-
disciples except the twelve, all of them left like cheesyer?
-
Do you know what that crazy saur? Howckey long? See hour?
-
You ask me to eat? What's this? This kind of
-
teaching is lunatic. It's crazy, Jesus. What you're asking me
-
to do is too radical? Radical?
-
What hit your mother? If you do not hit your
-
father and your mother, it means that you do not
-
love me?
-
Cheesy or not? I thought God asks us to love
-
our parents, you know, or our parents?
-
How is this teaching? So it's just as see our
-
Do you know what I'm saying? Some things you might
-
not be able to process in your mind, and you're like,
-
what do I make out of this? This perception that
-
we have of who Jesus is right? Or you can
-
come to a decision and a conclusion that he truly
-
is Lord?
-
Is he Lord? Is he Lord of your life?
-
Can I tell you something that he can be your
-
savior without being your lord. I'm gonna say that again.
-
He can be your Savior, like, yes, God, you save me.
-
I believe that you went to the cross to die
-
for me. I got a thicket to heaven, so I'll
-
see you on the day when I reached there. Okay,
-
God got it, so thought Lord Jesus, I will see
-
you there on that day. You are my Savior. I
-
already believe in you. I really believe you died. But
-
for the rest of my life you're on earth. I
-
am Lord. For the rest of how I live my life,
-
I make the decisions God. I will decide how I
-
want to live. I will make use all my time
-
however I want it to be.
-
I will make my.
-
Career decisions, my life partner decisions, whatever I decide on
-
my children's education based on what I know.
-
So who is Lord?
-
So you see, you can think of Jesus as your savior.
-
But if he is not Lord, then he is not
-
God over our lives. I want us to catch this
-
because do you know the more that I talk to
-
people now in even amongst our church partners, young people,
-
all theer folks, and I realized that our perception of
-
our understanding of God, Who's Jesus?
-
Do you really Who's Jesus? To you.
-
Yeah, He's a god I worship and sing too on
-
a sandela and then Monday and then in your conversation
-
with your boss and in how you lead your children.
-
Who's Jesus? I don't know.
-
Someone I just pray good night prayers to someone that
-
I just say grace before dinner and that's it. And
-
Jesus has no weight in your everyday life, you know,
-
everyday decision. Does he have that kind of weight? Does
-
he had that kind of position in our lives? That's
-
my question And I have to question myself as like, God, really,
-
am I first thing in the morning?
-
Am I thinking about you? Last thing?
-
And am I thinking about you when I'm going through
-
my challenges? Am I thinking about you? Am I going
-
to you? Are you really Lord of my life? Or
-
you're just a savior on the wall or on the
-
cross hanging somewhere that I'm wearing.
-
Do you know what I'm saying?
-
And I want us to to understand this because this
-
will determine how we live our lives and it always
-
begins with an encounter. And so I don't want to
-
just say, you know you, as long as you come
-
to church, you're fine. As long as you give your
-
tithes and offering, you're serving, you go to homes. You're
-
fine because when all that is strip away, friends, can
-
I tell you, when all of this is stripped away
-
and you are standing before.
-
Jesus, are you gonna tell him? Jesus?
-
You know I did all of this for you, and
-
the last thing that we want to hear from him
-
is I do not know you because you do not
-
know me. Do you know you can do all of
-
this and still miss the mark? And so so my
-
heart is this, my burthen is this that I don't
-
want any one of us to miss the mark to
-
really know who Jesus is to us? And so let's
-
go to the world of God. Okay, let's go to
-
Acts chapter nine. And you know this guy. His name
-
is Saul. Do you know Saul? Who is Saul? Let
-
me ask the children, children, who is Saul Pauh King
-
and King Saul? The different Saul we are talking about.
-
Thank you for that, But at least you're thinking about
-
someone assault from the Bible?
-
Who else? Okay, let me ask the kids who else is?
-
Who is Saul? To you? Jet? Who is saw? Someone
-
who changed? I like that, someone someone who changed.
-
From bad to good woh good like can give bonus
-
points on it?
-
What else?
-
Who else? What else do you know about? Saul persecuted
-
the church? Okay, so we want to talk about bad guy.
-
Right.
-
So let's by the way, who would like the Saul
-
to be your church pastor anyone if that, if there's
-
a living Saul today, would you like him to be
-
your church master?
-
No? No, of course not. You know what he did?
-
No?
-
He went to the church. I say.
-
For example, he came to Premier Clang right, and then
-
he's like, okay, who who he will come in right now?
-
And he said, who are you? Who of you who
-
say that you believe in God, in Jesus? Come out
-
here right now and I will bring you to Clang prison,
-
cank God prison.
-
Now, don't have right? Okay? Then go to the balet pudu.
-
I don't know where. Do you know what? That's what
-
sold it? Right?
-
He went around to churches and he says, those of
-
you who are following the way, which is Jesus, I
-
will drag you into prison.
-
Okay. So if you don't believe me, you go to
-
act chapter eight. All right.
-
Act Chapter eight says that Saul was bringing people all
-
the way to prison.
-
That's how it started. In X chapter eight. Okay, I'm
-
gonna read that. Okay.
-
So before that he even consented to Stevens's death, the martyr.
-
Okay. Now Saul was concerning to his dad. This is
-
X chapter eight. And at that time.
-
A great persecution arose against the Church which was at Jerusalem,
-
and they were all scattered throughout the regions of Judea
-
and samar Accept the apostles, all right, And so this
-
is the start of the introduction of Saul in the Bible.
-
He came on the scene.
-
He was already saying yes to the Christian's death. All right,
-
let's move on to X Chapter nine. Exceptain are you there?
-
Ex? Chapter nine? All right? EX.
-
Chapter nine Versus one two four, Okay, I'm gonna read
-
that from the Word of God, okay, So verse one.
-
Then Saul, still breeding threats and murder against the disciples
-
of the Lord, went to the high Priest and asked
-
letters from him to the synagogues of the Mascus, so
-
that if he found any who were of the way
-
the way, whether men or women, he might bring them
-
bound to Jerusalem. Now this is this bound is bringing
-
them to prison. All right, So in in in what
-
do you call it? Cuffs?
-
Handcuffs? Verse three?
-
As he journeyed, he came near the maskers, and suddenly
-
a light shone around him from heaven. Then he fell
-
to the ground and heard a voice saying to him, Saul, Saul,
-
why are you persecuting me? Yeah, Saul, Saul, why are
-
you persecuting me? What is the first thing that you
-
capture from this first four verses? What do you think
-
is what is God trying to say to us from
-
the first four verses?
-
What do you think what is God saying? Now?
-
Do you do you believe that God knows everything that's happening?
-
Does he know that this Saul is coming against him
-
again his believers? And what was his response? What was
-
God's response to this guy called Saul? Okay, let me
-
put this way. If you were God, what would you
-
do to Saul? You would smash him?
-
What what? Punish him? Of course? Right? Logic and not logic.
-
Not if someone is destroying the work that you sent
-
your son to do, you would try and demolish this guy,
-
punish him or whatnot? But what did God do? He
-
pursued him? Did you see how God pursued his the
-
person that is the most anty God anti Jesus. By
-
the way, I have to say this that Saul was not.
-
Actually Saul was very zealous for God. He do you
-
know the reason why he was persecuting Jesus was because
-
he felt and he thought that Jesus was a fraud,
-
because he thought that they were turning the Jews away
-
from the way of the Jewish laws. And for him
-
is I am the righteous man, I need to uphold
-
the Jewish laws. He said that I'm the Pharisee of
-
the Pharisees. You know, anyone kept the law, I kept
-
all the law. He dared to say, anyone there to
-
say that one? I think none of us there to
-
say that, right, But he was so righteous. But I
-
have to keve it that by saying he was so
-
self righteous for the things of God that he could
-
miss the mark. So, friends, can I tell you that
-
you can be so zealous for the things of God,
-
doing everything that you think is right, doing everything that
-
you think is very Christian, and.
-
Still miss Jesus. Do you see that? So? So it's
-
not that he's like completely like a bad guy. He
-
was doing things for God. That's what he believed.
-
He's like I'm doing, I'm going all out to make
-
sure that God's name is not dishonored. Do you see
-
that he's coming from that place? So he's not really
-
a he's really owned for God. Okay, but he missed
-
the mark. And so, my, my, you know, my comfort
-
from this is it that Jesus wants to come and
-
correct that.
-
He is not. You know, you might as humans, right,
-
you might see this person a hopeless.
-
Hopeless, right, hopeless, useless, destroying my plans and my work.
-
But God had a better plan. God had a higher plan,
-
and you see the things right, God will pursue that one.
-
And that's why I'm sorry. I was very encouraged by
-
Korean's testimony. You know, she said that, yes, God pursued
-
even though it took some time. But that means friends,
-
everyone has a chance. Everyone has a chance. You know,
-
even the most anti Jesus friend that you have right now,
-
your most empty Jesus auntie, uncle, grandfather, grandmother, God is
-
still pursuing them. And God wants to use us. Yeah,
-
God wants to use as just as he used Saul
-
to change and transform lives.
-
Amen.
-
So so God is pursuing it. So catch can you
-
just catch Jesus heart? Yeah, So he went there and
-
says Saul, Saul, he called him by name, Why are
-
you persecuting me?
-
And then verse five is says this.
-
Then he fell to the ground and heard a voice
-
saying to him, Yeah, okay, we went there verse five,
-
and he said, who are you Lord?
-
Who are you? See? The thing is right?
-
Do you think that Saul didn't know about this name Jesus? Right,
-
So he was the one who persecuted everyone who followed
-
this Jesus. He knew of this guy, a prominent guy
-
named Jesus who went to the cross, died and rose again.
-
But he's like discouraging anyone else from following this because
-
they're distracting them from following.
-
The Jewish Jewish laws.
-
So, but God is saying to him, why are you
-
persecuting me?
-
And he said to him, who are you Lord?
-
Because can you imagine he was already on the ground, blinded,
-
and he knew that there was the higher powers that
-
was speaking to you. Isn't natural for you to certainly
-
lose your sight and here avoids booming who So, so,
-
why are you persecuting me? It's very unusual, and you know,
-
right this encounter, you know that it is something supernatural.
-
I wonder if you've had that encounter with Jesus yourself.
-
Have you asked yourself, have you had a personal encounter
-
with the Lord or Jesus was just an idea that
-
you hear from church every day? Do you know that
-
I'm working with this couple. You're a very young couple,
-
and so they are one thing to get into pre courtship.
-
So we're asking and all that, and they're like, they're
-
like each other fine, you know, And he said that
-
the boys, do you know I pray for twenty one
-
days during the U turn? Yeah, we just had our
-
U turn. And he said, but I didn't hear from
-
God at all, right, And as we went deeper, and
-
he's like, what does it mean to seek God? And
-
we discovered further on that actually he's like, I don't
-
have faith. Actually, this boy grows up in a godly family,
-
godly family, you know, his parents are God fearing parents,
-
and he was raised in church. He's about twenty plus
-
years old now, and he says, I don't know this faith.
-
He's found in church every Sunday, you know, every Sunday
-
for twenty one years, and he says, I don't know Jesus.
-
I don't know who he is. I don't know how
-
to hear from him. So I'm wondering, like a lama,
-
what happened?
-
Guys, what happened? He's like, I don't know. I never
-
met him.
-
So of course I was very concerned. But we said, okay,
-
let's journey together. Let's journey together to help you find
-
Jesus and encounter him for yourself. And so that's what
-
our young people are going through.
-
Right.
-
Do you know that if our young people cannot call
-
Jesus as their own lord, then that's a journey that
-
we need to pray for your parents' parents. Don't just
-
pray for good education, don't just pray for good health.
-
Pray that they encounter Jesus, that they know who Jesus
-
is for themselves, because you and I will not be
-
there for them all the way when they stand before God,
-
they will have to answer their own self. You can't
-
be there like, oh no, no, Jesus, this is my child,
-
you know. I let me tell you that's what he
-
did all as right, top of the class. No Jesus,
-
like no, no, no, paren, I push you aside. I'm
-
going to talk to my child. This is my child, right,
-
and so so I I begin to have this real
-
burden for our young people, real burden for our young people.
-
Not just our young people everyone lah, okay, that we
-
really need to know who Jesus is for ourselves. Don't
-
need to look to your husband, your wife and who
-
I don't know? La, ask God like, who are you
-
to me?
-
Actually? Who are you Jesus? And this is what exactly
-
saw us? Who are you Lord? He's asking this deep
-
question who are you really?
-
And by the way, can I tell you when I
-
when I when I when I first read it?
-
Right?
-
But he already called him lord? Does that mean that
-
he acknowledged him as lord? So what I discovered was
-
in the.
-
In the old times? Right? What when when.
-
You see this word lord, it actually could mean as sir,
-
who are you sir?
-
Who are you sir?
-
So it comes back to again, if you think this
-
Jesus is someone who is a good teacher or someone
-
very knowledge by somewhere powerful you, you would accord that
-
honor and respect. Right, But it does not mean that
-
it will change your life. Does not mean that God
-
will change your life. Okay, So let's move on, he says,
-
And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom you are persecuting.
-
It is hard for you to kick against the ghosts.
-
Do you know what this means? Anyone knows what it
-
means to kick against the goats?
-
What is the goat? Not the gum being? Okay?
-
So do you know that if you are farming and
-
you have cattle, right, if you raise cattle, you will
-
always put them to plow the land.
-
Yeah, So you want to plow the land? You want
-
it to go left? All right? Left? You wanted to
-
go straight? Can no?
-
Not?
-
Can we go straight? Don't want to go straight?
-
Out?
-
So you want to go left and right? Is it
-
only life? Okay, let's go to the life. Okay.
-
So right, you notice that your cattle is moving to
-
the right. What do you do and you wanted to
-
go to the left, what do you do as a farmer?
-
As a cattle owner? You will have this stick, And
-
at the end of a stick is a prick. Yeah,
-
And the moment you turn right, when you're supposed to
-
turn left, what does the farmer do? They will prick you.
-
You think it's cruel or not parents, you want to
-
have this device?
-
Yeah, yeah, yeah, Hey parenting pool. Here parenting tip.
-
If your child goes to the left and you want
-
them to go to the right, right, you break them.
-
And this is the real too. Can you see that.
-
Is a rod with a sharp pointy thing, and it's proding.
-
Is it meant to hurt them? Is men to pop
-
their conscience so that they will turn to the left,
-
not to the right, but on the straight road.
-
Do you see, parents, how important your role is. Yeah.
-
It's not just to like do whatever you want, but
-
you are raising them in the ways of the Lord right,
-
and the ways of the Lord is not easy, you know,
-
because guess what we all like to go turn left,
-
to turn right, do our own things. And God is
-
saying this thing and this is the word of God
-
that will prick you, the word of God that will
-
prick you so that you will go straight. Now, why
-
is God saying this to Saul? Because it's in the
-
Roman and the Hebrew proverb. This is a proverb that
-
they use that time right. It says that it's understood
-
that if you do this, you're going against God's will.
-
As simple as that you're going again a divine going
-
against a divine will, and so it's like, so, why
-
are you trying to go against God's will? So he's saying, okay, okay, God, right,
-
and let's look at this respec.
-
Verseing.
-
So he trembling and astonished, said sir, what do you
-
want me to do? And the Lord said to him,
-
arise and go into the city and you will be
-
told what you must do. So it started with this encounter.
-
He lost his sight. Suddenly he was put in this
-
place where he's uncertain about what he believes in God,
-
what he believes in Jesus. And do you know our
-
response when we encounter Jesus is God, what do you
-
want me to do? Do you see that if you
-
encounter Jesus is saying God, what do you want me
-
to do?
-
Now, it's not God, what I will do for you? Yeah?
-
Hello, exclaim. It's very different from saying, God, you do
-
this for me, You do this for me. It's now
-
answering back and say, God, what do you want me
-
to do? Have you ever asked that question in all
-
your decision making? It's not so much God, I want
-
to do this for you. God, I want to do
-
that for you. But God, what do you want me
-
to do? That is a response? Okay, all right? So
-
do you know sometimes right when you encounter the word
-
of God, it will prick you most of the timeline,
-
Like when you're reading this right now, is it pricking you?
-
Is it like an ouch?
-
And that's simply because God wants to bring us back,
-
bring us back to what he wants, where he wants us.
-
Amen.
-
So the encounter led him to a deep place of search.
-
I want to encourage us to come to this place
-
where we wrestle with God. We wrestle with who we
-
think God is. We wrestle with our understanding of who
-
God is.
-
In our lives.
-
Don't just let God be? You know something in the Bible,
-
some a figment of you know, your philosophy, that He's
-
good on a Sunday but not every day?
-
Can I?
-
Can I encourage you just to think about it? That
-
have you come to this place where you have a
-
deep search, a deep you know, a wrestle. Really, God,
-
who are you? What do you mean to me? What
-
does it mean to call you my God? What does
-
it mean to call you my God? What do you
-
want me to do?
-
All right? And you look at verse nine verse nine.
-
Right, he says this, and he was three days without
-
sight and neither ate nor drink.
-
So so there's this place of darkness.
-
Do you know that three days or he had no sight,
-
he had no food, he had no water. How would
-
you feel that time anyone went through fasting three days
-
without food, without water?
-
Has anyone experienced that?
-
No? Oh, yes, sir, okay, in that place where you
-
empty yourself, do you see that when there is no
-
other things to see? This is a place of search,
-
like like you're really really going into this like wolfare
-
and going with God and just saying, God, what is
-
this that I'm struggling with? And I want this breakthrough.
-
I want this breakthrough of knowing who you are. And
-
Saul went through that. So Saul was being you know,
-
just now one of our one of the jets said,
-
it's Saul was a guy who transformed from bad to good. Right,
-
all of us need to go through a transformation.
-
Yeah.
-
Do you believe that all of us need to be transformed?
-
Because God loves you, but he loves you so much
-
that he doesn't want you to remain the way you are.
-
You cannot remain the same if you've been the same
-
for the last five years.
-
Then God has a plan for you. Ha ha.
-
He's gonna come and prick you because he says, you
-
cannot remain the same. You cannot say that you are
-
a follower of Jesus and still remain the way you
-
are true or not, because then there's no transformation. If
-
there's no transformation, then God has not shown his power
-
in your life.
-
Yeah.
-
And so soul went through this deep search, darkness, no food,
-
no water. But do you know that at the same time,
-
God was also transforming someone else.
-
Yeah, Okay, let's read in verse ten.
-
He says, now there was a certain disciple at Damascus
-
name Ananias, and to him the Lord said, in the
-
vision Annius. And he said, here I am Lord. So
-
Anonius good guy or bad guy?
-
Good guy? Bad guy?
-
Okay, good guy, good guy, good guy. But still got
-
wrong mindset. Let's see yah. And the Lord said to him,
-
arise and go to the street caught straight and inquire
-
at the house of Judas for one called soul of Passes.
-
For behold, he is praying, and in a vision he
-
has seen a man named Ananaius coming in and putting
-
his hand on him. So that he might receive his side.
-
Then what then I say yes, and I say that, yes,
-
a conversion a soul say for the Lord. No, this
-
is what Ananaia said. Then Ananaius answered, Lord, I've heard
-
from many about this man, how much harm he has
-
done to your saints in Jerusalem. And here he has
-
authority from the chief priest to bind all who call
-
on your name. But the Lord had to correct his mindset.
-
The Lord said to him, go, for he is a
-
chosen vessel of mind to bear my name before gentle
-
kings and the children of Israel. For I will show
-
him how many things he must suffer for my namesake. Wow,
-
what it sounds like a punishment? Alas says, yes, worse
-
than punishment. I recently learned this term. I don't know
-
whether you're understanding. It's called suffering for success, you know not? Okay,
-
it's a very gen z thing. I still don't know
-
what it means anyways. It's like you you taste success,
-
but then that suffering comes along with it.
-
Okay, I don't know.
-
I don't know that it doesn't matter low Okay, but okay,
-
this sounds like punishment, right, But do you know that
-
God was also changing mindset for Annius. Many times we
-
think that person, really, no, this is the worst guy ever,
-
And God is saying no, no, no, I have a
-
plan for this guy as well. Right, And so I
-
think for us right as disciples, and would you rather
-
be a soul or an anis?
-
Would you rather be a soul Annius? Annius? Of course, of.
-
Course you just have to go and tell the message
-
you're right, and then Saul can suffer for all of us.
-
I don't know what God has called us to do.
-
Some he will call us to be sauls some he
-
will call us to be Anonius. But whatever it is,
-
I think we just have to be obedient to His
-
call of our lives.
-
Amen. Yeah, are you still okay with me? Are you
-
sleeping ready?
-
Do you know every time I preach this message right,
-
this spirit of sleepiness comes in.
-
I want to rebuke that in Jesus name.
-
You know why, because I really think, right, sometimes, when
-
the word of God is really for us, when right,
-
there is a spiritual battle. There's a real spiritual battle,
-
and it's called the flesh. And that's the one that
-
stops us from really grappling with the word of God.
-
Okay, so, so do whatever you need to do.
-
Right, If you feel like I need to stand up
-
and stretch just to receive the world of God, do that.
-
I give you permission. I won't call you out, okay,
-
but but just just be ready in your spirit. Can
-
be ready in your spirit to just hear what God
-
is saying to us, what God.
-
Wants to say to us.
-
Okay, Now, the transformation happened for Ananias because at the
-
end of the day, right, this question, who are you
-
Jesus to me? Is not a transformation of the heart.
-
It's not a transformation of just what you do. It's
-
a transformation of your mind. Yes, what is this word
-
repent Okay, I'm gonna ask you this word repentance? What
-
what do you understand by the word repentance? What do
-
you understand by the word report?
-
So bright?
-
Right, that's why I don't want to stand up there
-
like you be staring at it so bright? What do
-
you understand by the word repentance? Change your direction so
-
that means I go If I want to go south,
-
then I needed to change direction to go north? Maybe yeah, yeah,
-
change of direction? And so what is God saying to
-
us when he calls us to repent, change, direction from
-
where to where, opposite of what, opposite of where you're going,
-
what you're thinking about? Yeah, so correct, correct, that's absolutely
-
correct because the word comes from this word meta meta noyo.
-
Okay, this word repentance.
-
If you read in your Bible, the English word is repentance,
-
but the Greek word is matter noo or meta noia.
-
And what it means what is meta mata is change?
-
Let me ask the children, what is the word that
-
you learn in school that starts with meta?
-
Have you learned meta? More not meta for meta?
-
Yeah, it's a science term meta meta morphosays what does
-
that mean?
-
Transform? Okay?
-
Transform of what? Transformation of what? A butterfly from a
-
caterpillar to her butterfly? Who wants to be a caterpillar?
-
Who wants to be butterfly? Nobody wants to be butterfly? Me?
-
Okay? If the girls or don't want to be butter flyer?
-
No?
-
Thank you? You who said no? Thank you? Oh yo? Okay?
-
The one parents in there have a talught with that.
-
Now see the metal morpho morphosis, right is changed?
-
But change or what change of form? You know?
-
Morph morph you are morphing into a form, a process
-
of development, of changing from one form which is a
-
larva or poopa two a butterfly.
-
Change.
-
Now, the word know yeah means a change of mindset.
-
Change of thinking, change.
-
Of perception, change of and understanding. So, when Jesus started
-
his ministry, what do you say, let me tell you
-
about the power of God. Did Jesus say that, let
-
me tell you about the king What did Jesus first
-
say when he started his ministry?
-
What is it?
-
Did you remember how Jesus started his ministry After he
-
was baptized, he came out, He's like, okay, tada, I'm
-
ready to do my work. What was the first thing
-
that he said to the people that he was preaching to.
-
God is good, God is love. God's gonna transform your life.
-
What did Jesus say, sorry? Before that? What is the
-
one word before that?
-
Before he said the Kingdom of God is at hand?
-
What was that one word that he said? Repent? Jesus's
-
first word. You think about it.
-
The first word that he was preaching to the crowd
-
was not that I am good or whatnot. He says repent.
-
So he's saying to the people, change your mind. There
-
is a changing of mind that needs to happen before
-
a changing of heart happens and then a change of life.
-
You know that your brain is the most powerful thing
-
if you think. Let me tell you something, Eh, how
-
many of you think exercise is good? How many of
-
you exercise?
-
Oh? Very good?
-
The same hand state because you believed it was good.
-
Therefore you you did it. The rest of us wo
-
never put our hands out. We don't believe exercise is good.
-
We believe exercise is good for our neighbor, not for us.
-
So like you go exercise, I don't need it. Do
-
you see how powerful your mind is. If you believe
-
in something, it will change how you live your life.
-
And so God started on the scene.
-
Jesus himself started on the stance, and he's saying, repent,
-
change your mind about the Kingdom of God. So I
-
think we all need to have this different perception of
-
who Jesus is.
-
Yeah. Change. He's not just your comforter, he's not just
-
a savior. But who he is?
-
Who is he really to all of us? Okay, do
-
you know the word repentance? I just want to say this.
-
It's not about feeling sorry. You have you felt sorry
-
about something like oh, yeah, I did that mistake. I
-
just felt guilty about it. I didn't do this, I
-
should have done that. You go into this guilt trip.
-
That's not repentance, by the way, that's not okay. It's
-
not saying that. Yeah, you know, I just say like sorry, La.
-
You know, I can't say sorry to you ten thousand times. Sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry,
-
I kick you up.
-
It's sorry. Sorry.
-
Then I keep you again, it's sorry, sorry, Because why
-
Jesus say forgive seventy seven times? So so you just
-
keep forgiving Mela, can or not? But has there been
-
any repentance?
-
Why not?
-
Thank you for the honest answer. Why is there no repentance?
-
I'm saying sorry.
-
Exactly. No change.
-
You keep doing the same thing over and over again
-
and you expect a change. By the way, that's the
-
definition of someone's lunatic. Albert Einstein says that, right, if
-
you keep doing something the same thing over and over
-
again and expect a change, that's what you call insane.
-
So what are we doing in our lives?
-
Friends that if there's something that you're struggling with, are
-
you still doing the same thing? You're still going life
-
as routine and you expect change.
-
To happen.
-
Not gonna, not gonna happen, right, not gonna happen unless
-
there is a change in your perception, in your belief
-
of what is it that needs to change?
-
Okay, So it's.
-
It's not just can I tell you and and and
-
Max is quite right, right, It's it's turning your direction.
-
So if you're walking this way, you're walking in your habits,
-
you're walking in sin. It's not just turning away from it, right,
-
because I can just turn away.
-
Look at me, Ah, if I'm walking.
-
This way along sin, but I just turned away from
-
sin and I'm walking this direction now, it does not
-
mean that I'm walking in the direction of God. Do
-
you see that I can just turn away from my
-
bad habits. I can just turn away from alcohol. I
-
can just turn away from whatever it is. But if
-
I'm not turning to the right direction, which is to
-
what God that is not repentance, I might just try
-
and feel sorry about things, you know, try to do good.
-
But do you know that the only one that is
-
good is God? And so it's a turning.
-
It's a one eighty degrees change from your old lifestyle
-
to something that God is saying, Yes, this is the
-
way that you should walk. Yeah, walking towards Him and
-
away from.
-
Your old lifestyle, your old habit.
-
That's what it is, a change of heart, a change
-
of mind and direction.
-
Amen. So it is this change and transformation that I hunger.
-
You know, you're talking about revival our theme for church,
-
this year's revival. Right, This revival right needs to start
-
from a place of an encounter with who God is.
-
Because without the encounter, that won't be that deep search
-
of who God is. And without that there will not
-
be a true repentance, a transformation. And I want our
-
church to transform. I want all of us. I want
-
to transform. I want to transform. And you know what happens.
-
You know, sometimes we say you just gotta do this more,
-
you gotta do this more. It's not about doing more,
-
it's about being.
-
Yeah.
-
Sometimes we get so tired. Yeah, friends, church partners, you
-
get tired of doing. We get tired of doing because
-
it's coming out of external like, oh, my leader come
-
asks me to.
-
Do this, My home leader asks me to do this.
-
Da da da da da. Everyone asked me to do this,
-
My parents ask me to do this.
-
So you're just doing because there's all these external pressures.
-
But until you come to a place where it's an
-
innate internal change, then you will get tired. Do you
-
know what fires you is from within? The engine that
-
needs fuel is the fire of God comes into our hearts,
-
to our minds, and it feels us. Do you know
-
why people can do ministry for long without burnout? And
-
I'm speaking to real situations here. Sometimes we can give
-
and give and give, and we're like, I'm experiencing burnout,
-
and I want to minister to you and just say,
-
maybe it's time to refuel inside. Don't just serve externally
-
because you think that all these things that I need
-
to do is the right thing to do.
-
But there is no refueling. There is no fire.
-
There's no fuel in us, and that is the Holy
-
Spirit within us. You know why I say this, Let's
-
go to extrapter night and this is what Howard Saul
-
to become poor verse eighteen, verse eighteen, And this is
-
and the night. Yes, right, okay, let's read from verse seventeen.
-
After the prophetic suffering that was given over, saw Annius
-
went on his way and entered the house. He went obediently,
-
and laying his hands on him, he said, brother Saul, Wow,
-
from someone who said, do you.
-
Know this guy is really persecuting you? He actually turned.
-
Do you know that Ananias had to change your mind?
-
He called him brother. He knew that this guy was
-
on the same side as him. You know that this
-
is how reconciliation happens. People who are opposite you and
-
you're like, oh, we are totally disagreeing. But when you
-
obey the Lord, he changes us. And then he went
-
on him and said, brother, saw the Lord Jesus, who
-
appeared to you on the road as you came, has
-
sent me that you may receive your sight and be
-
filled with.
-
Ther be filled with holy spirit. And verse eighteen.
-
Immediately there fell from his eyes something like skills. And
-
he received his side at once, and he arose and
-
was baptized. And when he had received food, he was strengthened.
-
Then Saul spent some days with the disciples at Damascus.
-
Now this is the fruit that we want, right and
-
this is the fruit, he says in verse twenty. Immediately
-
he preached the christ in the synagogues that he.
-
Is there, that he is who son of God. Do
-
you believe Jesus is the son of God?
-
Because if you believe that he is the son of God. Right,
-
do you know that there's nothing that you cannot do
-
in your life? It changes everything to how you look
-
at the challenges in your life, every situation, because you say,
-
my God is not just a good teacher.
-
He is He's the son of God. What does that
-
mean to you? Son of God, Son of God, Son
-
of God. Does he have all powers in the world?
-
I believe he does.
-
Does he have sovereign control over everything on earth?
-
He does?
-
Do you know how important for you to be able
-
to say, I believe that Jesus is not just God,
-
but he is the son of God. And he's not
-
just the son of God. He's my savior. And he's
-
not just my savior, he is my Lord. Do you
-
know you can call Jesus savior, but you don't call
-
him master. Being able to call him my lord means
-
you are subjected to his lordships. It's almost like a
-
slave and a master's sort of position. You know, Right,
-
when you can call Jesus you are my lord, it
-
means I'm waiting to serve you. I'm waiting to hear
-
what you say. Whatever you command, I will do. That
-
is a position of someone who can call Jesus you
-
are my Lord.
-
You are my Lord.
-
You're not just my provider, You're not just you know,
-
my ATM machine.
-
You are my Lord.
-
And therefore Saul became Paul because he understood he had
-
the answer to that question, who are you Lord? And
-
so I'm going to ask the team, the band to
-
come and I want to minister. I'm going to give
-
us a chance to respond to the Lord. There's two
-
calls here, okay. The first one is for those who
-
have not received the baptism of the Holy Spirit. And
-
I want to tell you that this is crucial to
-
our lives as believers. If you you know of Jesus,
-
you know of God the Father, but you do not
-
know the Holy Spirit. That I want to give you
-
that invitation to say, I want to receive the Holy
-
Spirit because you know that without the Holy Spirit, you
-
can never fulfill your calling, your wark as a follow
-
of Jesus, you cannot be effective in your ministry. Do
-
you know Jesus himself was baptized with the Holy Spirit
-
the derve came upon him, So you thought Jesus was
-
just powerful. No, he received the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Okay,
-
So that's the first call. The first call is for
-
those who say, yes, I want to receive the Holy
-
spapit and the rest of us, can we just be
-
praying and expecting for the move of God. Be expecting
-
for the move the Holy Spirit. Children, if you feel
-
that you also want to receive the baptism, come.
-
Okay.
-
This is for everyone, It's not just for adults. The
-
second call is this. I believe there are some of
-
us who need to come to a place of repentance.
-
And when I say repentance, it's not just feeling sorry
-
for sin, but it's coming to this place where you're
-
repenting of the way that you have seen God in
-
your life, the way you have treated Him, the way you.
-
Have believed and perceived about Him. Who is have you?
-
Has he been reduced in your mind? Or does that
-
need to be a repentance, a change in your mind
-
about who God truly is in your life? And so
-
I'm gonna open the altar. I'm just gonna put this aside,
-
and I'm gonna ask all of us to stand. All
-
of us can stand. There is no shame in repentance.
-
You know.
-
I remember the story in Look that.
-
Says there was a pharisee and a text collector that
-
came to the temple. And the pharisee came before the
-
Lord and said, I thank God.
-
You know that I'm a good person.
-
I gave my thighs and you know, yeah, I serve God.
-
You know, I'm pretty okay, God, thank you.
-
He came with that kind of attitude.
-
And there behind him, just at the outer courts, I
-
was a text collector.
-
And he came in.
-
He was beating his chest. He did not even lift
-
up his eyes. He says, God, forgive me, for I
-
am a sinner.
-
Forgive me. I do not deserve this.
-
And Jesus said it was the man who was beating
-
his chest and saying, God, I repent.
-
I repent.
-
I am a sinner, and that's why I need a savior.
-
And he went home justified, not the pharisee. So we
-
don't want to be Pharisee said, we don't want to
-
have the attitude of a pharisee thinking I'm okay, I'm
-
not that bad.
-
You know my life has been I'm a pretty good person.
-
And so.
-
We want to come to this place of just saying God,
-
I repent. It doesn't have to be an emotional thing.
-
It's just a decision that you make. I'm changing my mind.
-
I'm going to call you my Lord. I'm calling you
-
my savior. I'm calling you the Son of God. That's
-
who you are in my life.
-
We hope you've been blessed by this message. For more
