You're listening to a message to go from X church.
-
We hope this message will light up your day.
-
X Church twelve plus one and it's the core values. Okay,
-
Core values. How many of y'all are familiar with the
-
word values?
-
Okay?
-
If you were in the Malaysian schooling system, you would
-
have taken this subject called moral.
-
How many of you all remember moral? You know? So? Moral? Right?
-
It is one of the subjects that we took where
-
you had to memorize. If you're on a score, eve,
-
on a score right, all of the do is memorize
-
eighty values. All you the do is memorize eighty values.
-
I still remember I had to memorize it. I scored
-
an A two. Who was But again, that's just memorizing
-
and then just writing it all down in the test MS.
-
You must write it exactly as how you memorized it.
-
Any change of words you were immediately remarked as wrong.
-
I'm not sure whether you all had the same experience. So,
-
and in Malay it's called nielai ni lai muri right
-
or values.
-
Okay.
-
If you are in a company, your company has values, okay,
-
how many of you all remember your company values?
-
Usually usually if you if you.
-
Remember your company values, it's amazing because it shows that
-
the company is actually believes in what their values are
-
and they continuously emphasize it. And because of that, it
-
has a lot of I mean, everyone who works for
-
that organization remembers the values. Okay, So I wanted to
-
give you an example of some of the companies and
-
their values. Okay, So the first one, let me see, Okay,
-
this company is a it was actually a huge company,
-
and the stated values is integrity, respect, excellence, Integrity, respect, excellence.
-
Right. How many have we all think those are good values?
-
Awesome values? Right?
-
Okay, So the name of the company is actually Enron.
-
How many of you all know Enron?
-
So Enron was actually a huge company that was doing
-
very very very well in US, but it was found
-
out for fraud. It was caught for fraud and the
-
whole company went bankrupt. But their values, they say it
-
is integrity, respect, and excellence. So just because you say
-
you have values, it doesn't mean that you are living
-
the values, you know. Another example is okay, probably I
-
take a good one of Apple's values is actually privacy.
-
How many of y'all believe that? No? But Apple is
-
one of the most Like, if you have your information
-
in Apple, right it is considered more secure than in
-
any other platform. That's why they take privacy very very strictly.
-
So some companies when they stated in their value, they
-
live by.
-
So even if the SBI were.
-
To ask them for us and say they want to
-
do an investigation, I know your customer information, it is
-
very very difficult. Apple will make sure that they go
-
through all the proper due diligence before just leaking. But
-
you know, like for our information right now, how many
-
of us get scam calls? You get scam calls is
-
like everywhere you know. So this is an example of
-
a company that did well. Another example of a company. Okay,
-
so this company is innovation, imagination, storytelling.
-
Can you guess Disney correct?
-
Disney is And because of that, they continuously it's all
-
about storytelling, it's about imagination, it's about innovation. And what
-
happens right is recently I just I just did a
-
quick such just now, just before coming up. So one
-
of their values is actually inclusion. And then in bracket
-
they put there formerly is known as the recency, so
-
you can see so I didn't go and uh don't
-
don't quote me because I need to go and fact
-
check this as well. So I was thinking, okay, why
-
so you know that recently there's been a lot of
-
backlash against Disney because suddenly instead of family values, Hey,
-
this is not aligning with my family values, you know,
-
and that's why there's a lot of backlash. So values
-
to a company, and values to even a church, values
-
to any organization, even your personal values. Just because you
-
say something, but if you don't live by it, people
-
will call you out and then you will lose all credibility.
-
So that's why values is very important.
-
Okay, it made you.
-
It might be something you just see the first time
-
during your first day orientation at work, but if you
-
live by it, if a company lives by it, then
-
they will achieve what they plan to achieve.
-
Okay, So let's why values better. Okay.
-
Next, So we had the vision earlier this year. If
-
you were in ex Church, we were covering the vision
-
and the mission of X Church. So the vision of
-
X Church is where we are going, the destination where
-
we are hitting to. Okay, the mission is why we
-
are going, and the values is how we are going
-
to get there, which is the few, Okay, So to
-
remind us what the vision is. Next line, So the
-
vision that the whole earth be filled with the glory
-
of the knowledge, the knowledge of the glory of the
-
Lord as the waters power the see. So our vision
-
is to make God famous across the earth. That's our vision.
-
How are we going to do that? What's our mission?
-
Our mission is to make disciples? Right, our mission is
-
to do that. We have to do that by making disciples.
-
So how are we going to make disciples?
-
You can put.
-
Somebody, you can put a gun to the head and
-
say become a disciple of Jesus. That's not I mean,
-
that is one way to achieve your mission. But if
-
it's not aligned to the values, then it is the
-
wrong way. You know, you can get to a destination
-
using the wrong methods. Right, you can use selfish methods.
-
You can use methods that will harm others because I
-
don't care what it takes. Have you heard people sing
-
I don't care what it takes. I will get to
-
the top no matter what. So you might stab, like
-
in a corporate worlds, sometimes people will bapstab or will
-
tap people down so that they will be built up.
-
And in terms of that, but for us to hit
-
our destination, which is our vision to make God famous.
-
And by making disciples, how are we going to make
-
disciples next? How we are going to make disciples is
-
by our values. Okay, so there's a code here by
-
Pastor Kenneth. He says here, when challenges come into our lives,
-
it is the values that get us true, not only
-
get us true, but help us overcome. So when you
-
go through half times, that is when you know what
-
you're made of. You know you can say that A
-
I trust in God. It's very easy to trust in
-
God when everything is going well. If your value is
-
if you say your personal value is to have faith
-
in God, your value will be tested when you're going
-
through tough times. Right then it will be are you sure?
-
Because your value is something that is the fuel. Just now,
-
you saw the picture of the car, right, the picture
-
of the car.
-
The vision is your destination.
-
The mission is how we're going to get to the destination,
-
and the values is the fuel. So if we are
-
using the wrong fuel, we might never hit our destination.
-
It's the same way like if you want to go,
-
you want to build six pack, Okay, you want to
-
bill six packs? You need to fuel properly. If you
-
don't fuel properly, you know, you take the wrong fuel.
-
You're like, well a KFC every day awesome, you know, uh,
-
finger licking good. Right, it's fuel, but it's the wrong fuel,
-
and the wrong fuel gets you to the wrong destination.
-
You know, you will probably get one pack instead of
-
six packs right when you do that. So we have
-
to ensure how we live our lives, the values that
-
we use. It has to be aligned so that we
-
don't miss the mark if not, you know, like pasta
-
Matt Chad last week, that about the five Foolish versions
-
and the five wise virgins. Right, if you run out
-
of fuel, you don't make it to the finish line.
-
So we need to make sure that we have sufficient
-
fuel and the right fuel. So what is the right
-
feel The right fuel is our values. So that is
-
the twelfth plus one okay that.
-
We're talking about.
-
So you understand why values is important, right, So let
-
me go to the next line. So values are actually
-
our character, you know, right, just now I told you
-
Enron had their values. One of their values was integrity.
-
But was integrity their character? No, it was just a
-
word on a document. It was not their character because
-
behind closed doors they fought reports, they did a lot
-
of fraud. So to the public, they're saying we are
-
integrist company, but behind closed doors they did the opposite.
-
And that's important for us as well. Values is when
-
nobody is looking, we still consistent with what we say,
-
we believe, okay, what we are where no one else
-
is looking. And this is very important because for example,
-
right now, in church, everyone knows that well, in church,
-
I know how to behave, I know how to act.
-
But if you go into a place where if you
-
go into your workplace and.
-
Suddenly you're surrounded by non Christians or people who don't
-
share the same faith, will you still stand by your values?
-
You know, the jokes that you listen to whether you
-
want to cut corners or not, or the example, you know,
-
in Malaysia, a lot of times when you get stopped
-
by the traffic police, you know that's when you say
-
when nowadays, of course much less because the police is
-
much more integris right now in terms of that. But
-
you know previously you're here that hey, just to get
-
off the hook, you suddenly put your values out the
-
window and you decide to write, for example, because it's
-
more convenient, it makes life easier. So values, there's not
-
take into account whether it makes your life difficult or easier.
-
It's about doing the right thing, no matter what the cost.
-
So that's values. Okay.
-
Next, so values are non compromisable. So there are some
-
things that you can compromise. Some things you cannot compromise, like,
-
for example, the color of the clothes.
-
That you wear today.
-
The one is compromisable, right, it's up to you today.
-
I feel wake up, I feel like we're angray or blue?
-
You feel in blue is fine, But dressing our best
-
for God is non compromisable because God is the king
-
of kings and we are putting God at the place
-
of honor, so giving God our best is non compromisable.
-
That's an example. Okay.
-
So our faith in Christ cannot be compromised. And this
-
one is really a huge thing because in this day
-
and age right now, becoming a Christian or even praying
-
for people is becoming a hate speech. Do you know
-
that in some countries even praying for people or saying
-
that Jesus is Lord is now becoming less and less popular.
-
In fact, some people categorize it as hate speech. What
-
do you mean you should be inclusive. You should you
-
shouldn't judge people, you know, everyone should be free to
-
believe that's not my truth. But then as Christians we
-
say that Jesus is the Way, the truth, and the life.
-
That's a non compromise our integrity before God and the
-
values that we committed to. So this is incompromisable. So
-
what do you want what you're having for lunch later?
-
That one can compromise most of the time, no compromise,
-
because the kids decide right, or parents will be like.
-
The kids will be like, no, this is a non
-
compromisable thing. I want to go here for lunch for example,
-
you know, or even where you choose to spend your time.
-
So where you choose you spend your time, although it's
-
listed here as compromisable, where you spend your time is
-
usually aligned to what you value. So what you value
-
you will spend more time with. What you devalue you
-
spend more less time or money with.
-
Right. So next, so.
-
Another code from Pascanas, So the word of God lasts forever.
-
It will be our people's foundation, the rock that cannot
-
be shaken. So regardless of the time and season it
-
we are in these are the values, and these values
-
are all biblical. Later, when you attach the first value,
-
you can see that all these values that are written
-
is taken from the Bible. It's taken from the Bible.
-
It's taken from the Book of X. And because we
-
are called X Church, so it's very much aligned to
-
the world of God. Right, it is not a man
-
inspired it is God inspired. Okay, So why next? Okay,
-
it should be coming out soon. But okay, so let
-
me just cover it even as it comes out. Right,
-
So in acts chapter two, all of us know X
-
chapter two.
-
Right.
-
X Chapter two was when Peter preached the first sermon
-
after he was filled by the Holy Spirit and three
-
thousand people got saved. Right, So it began before X
-
chapter two. It began by the Holy Spirit filling the disciples.
-
The Holy Spirit came upon them and they were filled
-
with the Holy Spirit. They started speaking in tongues. Correct,
-
And how does it end? It ended by the church
-
growing exponentially. So it started by the disciples being filled
-
by the Holy Spirit, and it ended by the church
-
growing exponentially. So our question is, how then can we
-
thrive as the first Church. There is something that we
-
can learn from the Church in the Book of Acts.
-
Right, then we can.
-
That God gave us a blueprint in Acts chapter two,
-
and that is what we can learn from. Okay, all right,
-
don't worry about their slights and XTV no pressure, don't worry, okay,
-
because regardless, this is very aligned to our values. So
-
the first value is actually spirit lad. So it's not
-
gonna be PowerPoint lead. It's gonna be spirit led. Okay.
-
So the spirit will lead our session right now, and
-
he will direct our path.
-
Right.
-
It's not man's wisdom, his wisdom.
-
So the first point is at least spirit filled, spirit filled,
-
so you can see right the disciples, the disciples will
-
be Jesus for how many years?
-
Three years?
-
If you were with Jesus for three years, do you
-
think you're ready to take on the world?
-
Yes or no? The disciples weren't.
-
You know that the disciples were with Jesus for three years,
-
and even after he ascended to heaven, the disciples were
-
not ready. The disciples were not ready. That's why they
-
remained in Jerusalem because Jesus told them you remain in
-
Jerusalem and then until the Holy Spirit comes upon you.
-
And that's why that's very important for us to do
-
the vision and the mission, we need the Holy Spirit. Okay,
-
So in the Book of Acts, it's usually known as
-
the Acts of the Apostle. Right, the Book of Acts
-
is known as the Acts of the Apostle, but actually
-
it's the acts of the Holy Spirit because it's not
-
done by men. It was done by men but empowered
-
by the Holy Spirit. So it's acts of the Holy Spirit.
-
So the Holy Spirit came first. The Holy Spirit was
-
poured out into the church in Jerusalem, and Peter preached
-
with courage that he had never shown before. He declared,
-
we are not drunk, and this is the promise of
-
God fulfilled. So for us to get to our destination,
-
we need the Holy Spirit. Because the disciples had Jesus
-
with them, but after Jesus left they were powerless and
-
they did not expand the church. So if the Holy
-
Spirit didn't come and fill them, they had no power.
-
You cannot do great things just by association.
-
You need to be in.
-
You need to live in the Holy Spirit and be
-
led by the Holy Spirit. So for us, right, the
-
mission is to make God famous in the whole earth
-
and to make disciples.
-
How are we going to do it? It's not by
-
our strategies.
-
It's not by our wisdom, but the Spirit of God
-
is the one that will lead us. So that's why
-
just now during priests with Sprayer, remember we sang the
-
song your ways are higher, your thoughts are higher. Not
-
my will be done, but yours. And that is the
-
only way we should live. Because most of the time
-
we use what the spirit tells us as our last resort.
-
I saw you get stuck.
-
You know.
-
We try and figure it out by experience, by whatever
-
it is.
-
But if we are led by.
-
The spirit, we will be heading in the right direction,
-
in the right power. Okay, so let's go to slight
-
the team. So not by my nor by power, but
-
by my spirit. That's our value. It's not about how
-
smart we are, how experience you are, how long you
-
have been a Christian, it doesn't matter.
-
Some of the most powerful.
-
Churches are underground churches, are Christians who have never even
-
held a physical copy of a Bible. But they are
-
filled with the power of the Holy Spirit, and they are.
-
Expanding like crazy.
-
They are making God famous in their circumstances and situations
-
like crazy. They don't need to have a digital marketing strategy.
-
They don't need to have the best websites. They don't
-
need to have the best speaker or preacher, you know,
-
because when the Spirit of God comes and heals the sick,
-
raise the dead, heals the blind, Hey, sign me up.
-
You know, it's not about how elegant the speaker is,
-
because the speaker is all.
-
It's like, well, just.
-
Go there and share their testimony, and their testimony is
-
what the Holy Spirit is doing in them.
-
Right.
-
So that's why I remember this verse. Not by might,
-
nor by power, but my spirit. How are we going
-
to reach the vision and achieve the vision and mission?
-
Not by min not by power, but by his spirit? Okay,
-
so the spirit leads us to Christ. The spirit leads
-
us to Christ. The Holy Spirit, he does not lead
-
us to himself. He always leads us to Christ points
-
us back to Jesus.
-
That's why when.
-
Peter started preaching, he preached great boldness and told everyone
-
to repent and turn to Jesus. So how many of
-
us are bold enough to do that?
-
Now?
-
By my own strength, I am not bold enough. I
-
don't have the conviction. But that's why I.
-
Need the Holy Spirit in me. That that's the good news.
-
It's not about how eloquent we are, how bold we are, well,
-
how experienced we are, nothing matters. The most important thing
-
is the spirit. Okay, next light, So Jesus said, it
-
is to your advantage that I go away, for if
-
I do not go away, the helper will not come
-
to you. So that's why Jesus ascended into heaven. And
-
then the Holy Spirit came, and suddenly the disciples had
-
the advantage. They had the advantage over the Pharisees, they
-
had their advantage over the Sadducees, they had their advantage
-
over every learned people. They had their advantage over all
-
the priests, and that's how they changed the world. That's
-
why spirit filled is important. So why did Jesus had
-
to go. Jesus told us it is to our advantage
-
that he had to go, because if he stayed, the
-
Holy Spirit would not come. And it's more important than
-
the Spirit comes.
-
That I remain with you boldly.
-
This is the priority that Jesus himself gives to his spirit.
-
And Jesus said, even greater things will you do? So
-
how important is it for us to be spirit filled?
-
It is very very important. So later, even towards the
-
end of the service. Right, we will just pray for
-
the infeeling of the Holy Spirit. Some of us may
-
not have had the gift of speaking in tongues, but
-
all we have to do is ask. We have to
-
ask and say, Holy Spirit, I need you. Can you
-
feel me? Can you speak to me? Use me for
-
your glory? It's not use me so that I will
-
be glorified, is use me for your glory. So what
-
the spirit filled looked like? What the spirit failed looked like?
-
First of all, the Holy Spirit will come upon us.
-
So if we accept Jesus Christ as our personal Lord
-
and Savior, then the Holy Spirit lives in us. Right,
-
So that's the first thing. We are filled with the
-
Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit lives in us. Once the
-
Holy Spirit lives in us, we have to develop a
-
relationship with that person.
-
Remember I gave the example. Right.
-
If, for example, I call Jess right, or I get
-
a phone call.
-
I get a phone call. Suddenly I pick up the
-
phone call and like, hey, do you pick up the kids?
-
I'll be like, who is this? Who else will ask
-
me whether I picked up the kids? Who else will
-
ask me whether pick up the kids?
-
Only jes right.
-
But if I go and say who's on the line.
-
Who are you? What do you think will happen? That's it?
-
Like you know you do not want to go there, right,
-
you don't want to go there. But why.
-
I can recognize immediately is because I have a relationship,
-
and I have a relationship, then I can recognize her voice.
-
Same thing when the Holy Spirit lives in us. The
-
more we communicate or commune with him, the more familiar
-
we are with his voice. The more familiar we are
-
with his leading and guiding, the more familiar we are
-
with Sadly, when thoughts come to us, we know and
-
recognize that it is him, and that can only happen
-
if we build a relationship. You know, so after we
-
are filled with the Holy Spirit, is not that checkbox done?
-
Is we have to continuously communicate? You know?
-
If you get married right, and that's about it, be filed,
-
be married done? For example, be filed here right or
-
get married done?
-
After that?
-
Right, no need to communicate, no relationship. What do you
-
think will happen to the marriage? Well, this indicate and
-
that's the thing. Being filed by the Holy Spirit is
-
only the step one after that we need a continuous relationship.
-
That's how friendships develop your best friends.
-
That's how with your spouse, that's how with your parents
-
as well, parents and kids as well. If there is
-
no communication, there's no relationship. Eventually, suddenly the kids don't
-
recognize a parent's voice. Sometimes the kids intentionally.
-
Don't want to acknowledge that. That one is a separate case.
-
But if right now, right, we are living in the
-
area of AI for example, you know, and then suddenly
-
you're heard of deep fakes, right, deep fikes?
-
You know?
-
Uh, and then suddenly there's a video of bastard Julian
-
there saying that, Hey, KFC is the best food ever.
-
I eat KFC every day. If Laura so that video,
-
what would you say, possibly true?
-
Okay, then.
-
May not have been the best example, you know, because again,
-
if we are if we do not recognize and then
-
we say, hey, it looks like Julian, sounds like Julian,
-
but not Julian.
-
Have you heard that phrase before? Looks that's the thing,
-
you know.
-
So, but that can only happen if you have proximity
-
with that person. You'll be like, hey, he will never
-
say that. I don't believe it. I don't believe he
-
will ever say that. Oh, that sounds exactly like Julian. Yeah,
-
that's Julian, Julia right, the one I say that. And
-
that's how we get closer to the Holy Spirit. When
-
we have spirit failed, being fi better spirit is only
-
step one. Then we need to have a relationship with him,
-
recognize he's leading. How he speaks to us and how
-
he speaks to different ones of us are different. So
-
I cannot tell just that, hey, cannot be the police
-
way won't speak like that.
-
It's not It's unique to you and it's real to you. Okay.
-
And after we are in a relationship, then we are led.
-
You know, if our kids do not recognize our voice
-
and then you say, hey, come, let's go, they'll be like,
-
who are you? Unless you give them candy. That's how
-
we say, don't talk to strangers, you know, don't talk
-
to strangers. But we will only lead somebody who we trust,
-
and we will only follow somebody that we trust, who
-
we recognize the voice, who we know has our best
-
interest at heart. Then we are led. And once we
-
are led, we are walking in the power of the
-
Holy Spirit because we are exactly where the Holy Spirit
-
wants us to be. And that's when he can use you.
-
He will use you when you are exactly where he
-
wants you to be. That's when you will talk to
-
the person he wants you to talk. That's when he
-
will pray for that person who has a need. That's
-
when you will speak that word of encouragement and suddenly
-
be able to lead that person to Christ. Right, So,
-
the next light, if we are not having a relationship
-
with the Holy Spirit, I think I've shared this before
-
as well, then the flesh. You know, That's why they
-
say every morning, right when we wake up, it's a battle.
-
This morning is oh, I had to express my alarm
-
clock snooze. It's a flesh because you're battling. Every morning
-
is a battle with a flesh. But we have to
-
choose that we want to walk in the spirit, so
-
the flesh will not have a say in our lives
-
or our future. We are helped, led and empowered to
-
do exactly what Christ has desired to do in our lives. Right,
-
So I'm drawing towards a close right now, next light.
-
Since we'll live by the spirit, let us also keep
-
in step with the spirit. That means we go where
-
the Spirit leads us, and we only can do that
-
if we are filled with the spirit, we recognize his voice,
-
then he tells us where to go.
-
Then we step into that place.
-
So you will be able to step into places where Hey,
-
why are you going here?
-
It doesn't make sense. Everybody around you says that it
-
won't make sense. But I am going here because the
-
Spirit leads me. And that's how you know. Paul. Paul
-
when he was.
-
With the other believers, right the other believers told him
-
don't go to Rome. Don't go to Rome because if
-
you go to Rome, we may never see you again.
-
If somebody told you that, hey, don't go to Subang
-
or whatever, don't go to Bunting for it, because you
-
know something bad will happen. And these people, you know,
-
they are god fearing, god fearing people, you know, and
-
they they have it impressed in their spirit that hey,
-
if if you go to Bunting, for example, something will happen.
-
But then in your spirit, the Holy Spirit is telling
-
you you have to go to one thing, and that's
-
exactly what Paul did. Paul says, regardless, I will go
-
to Rome because to live is Christ and to die
-
is Gain. And because he went to Rome, he could
-
share the Gospel to Caesar, he could share the gospel
-
to people in authorities.
-
But he was put in prison. But he did.
-
He was exactly where the Spirit led him, and that's
-
why he the power and the courage to do so.
-
So that's why it says he Since we live by
-
the spirit, let us keep in step by the Spirit.
