12+1 Core Values: Word Faithful | Jason Martin

We hope this message will light up your day today.

Is word faithful? Okay? The fourth value? This is the

fourth value word faithful. Okay. So when you look at

this again, whenever we touch church stuff, right, it's like

we lose a lot of the meaning because it becomes

so cliche. If we need just so long. Right, you

hear these terms over and over again, it loses the

essence of it. It loses the power. So I wanted

us to think about it. Okay, So when you think

about the word faithful. When I say that somebody is

vegan and faithful, what does it mean. If somebody is

vegan faithful, that means, yeah, so the only is vegetable, right,

only eats veges. You know they're vegan faithful. Okay. If

this person is uh, when you you're talking about diet, right,

quto faithful no keto diet right that time, it was

a big thing previously. When you say somebody is keto faithful,

that means they don't eat caps, they only eat protein

stuff like that. You know, if this person is let's

let's give another example. Right, If this person, right, is

wife faithful well, one wife, I didn't say wife's faithful,

wife faithful? You know, then you'll be like, it's either

one or zero one when you talk about vegan faithful,

it's either one or zero. When you talk about a

wife faithful? Or are you a faithful husband? Are you

a faithful father? You know? Are you a faithful employee?

It's either one or zero one, you know. But it

does not mean that we are perfect. We make mistakes,

but the mistakes are mistakes, they are not intentional, you know.

So that that's the difference. It's not saying right if

we are worth Like, for example, we gan faithful, right,

and then somebody there Feller accidentally eats something like, oh

you are not faithful, and crucified for her. But it

was unintentional, you know. But as beast as he could,

he kept to it because that's what he believes in.

So when we say we are worth faithful, what does

that mean? It means right, are we doing our best

to be faithful to what the word says? You know?

That is what it means. Does that mean that we

never fail? No, but to the best of our ability.

We will always choose the word over the world. That

is what word faithful. Is is that a good value

to live by? Yeah? Right? Because I say the values

that we say, it is very applicable to each and

every one of us. Okay, So I wanted to do

a bit of Bible study, but actually it's quite quite

interesting in terms of it. Okay, So let me let

me go into this next. So the first thing, there's

there's three questions in the book. Okay, So there was

some feedback that, hey, the preachers never follow all the questions.

I don't know what's the book for stuff like that.

So I'm doing my best, doing my best to to

to put it in this structure. So the first one

is the word of God. So the word of God.

When we say word faithful, what word are we talking about?

It is the word of God. Okay, it's the word

of God and the word of God. If we go

to the next slid, I will start with this question,

why does God's word stand when everything else feels? Why

do we think that, hey, God's word is the way

when everything else fails? How sure are we that God's

word will never feel? You know? That's another way of

putting it. And the picture I put here is like

the Grand Canyons you know, the Grand Canyons have been

there like thousands and thousands of years. That's what the

archeology is. Of course, you ask me how to put

it together where Adam and Eve thousand years don't. I'm

not going to that discussion. But essentially, God's word was

even from the start, before the start of time, it

has been consistent. And this is a question that we

need to ask ourselves in my life, why do I

believe that God's word stands and everything else fails? In

my life? Do I believe that God's word stands and

everything else will fail? Because if we don't, then we

will believe in other things are right. But I don't

also say, hey, you have to believe in cold word?

Why because the Bible tells you. So that's like, that's

a kid's level of faith. But we need to understand

it for ourselves. Why God's word is steadfast for us

to hold onto. Okay, so let's look at this next verse.

So it says here in the Bible Matthew twenty four,

verse thirty five, Heaven and earth will pass away, but

my words by well, by no means will pass away.

That means the world can come to an end. Even

heaven can come to an end. But God's word stays forever.

And this is the word of God. Okay. And if

we believe that Jesus Christ died for our sains, if

we believe that he is God, then we also have

to believe the words of God. Okay. And the Word

of God says that, hey, the Word is here to stay.

And in this time and age, right, there is nothing

that lasts forever. There is really nothing that lasts forever.

What do I mean by that? Right? So there was

another verse that really caught me by by I mean

raised curiosity in me and let me go to the

next light. So this is from Psalms one hundred and

thirty eight, verse two. For you have magnified your word

above all your name Psalm one hundred and thirty eight,

verse two. You have magnified your word above all your name.

That means right. God puts the word of God higher

than his name. That means right, the word of God,

he puts it higher than his name. So when you

look at it like, okay, so what does that mean exactly?

I also asked the question what does that mean? I

mean what? So when I dig deeper, right, I usually

will put it in how I want to digestings is

I want to put it in the natural. Okay, so

imagine this currently. Okay, part of the drama that happened

last week was my car drama. I got a lot

of testimonies about car drama and stuff like, right, so

this is just another one. So it's a so so

long story shot. I still don't have my car back yet,

I hope. I'm waiting for the text for the foreman

to drive it back from EPO today, so I might

get a text later during the sermon. So anyway, it

came to a point where, okay, I came back, I

was like, I think I need to change car really

because like every time, it's like every time I do

a long distance or something, something happened to the car.

So I was surveying for cars, you know, and look

for evs and stuff like that. Okay, So if you

have a surveyed an electric vehicle, right, what are you

usually looking for? One of the things you look for

is how far can this cargo? Right? How far can

this cargo? Because there's this thing called range anxiety. Range

anxiety is you scared suddenly a lama no power and

you go petrol station low point because you can't charge.

Right.

So when you go on survey cars, right and you

look at the brochures, the brochures are this car can

go six hundred am okay, six hundred akm because go

to JB it's only about three hundred plus. Then other

cars four hundred, four hundred and fifty should be okay.

What then was talking to ev owners, Hey the one

fake lah Now on paper only they say four fifty

you turn on the acon colder, beaten the mileage drop.

You gotta charge your phone and the mileage drop because

the whole car is a battery, you know, so everything

you use is continuing the battery. So but then that

is what the manufacturers say, you know, that's what the

manufacturers say. And this they uh, they put this, and

they put a lot of caveats down there saying that, hey,

this car can go six hundred km. But in the

event you don't do this, this disease. Okay. So if

you are a customer and you buy it, and then

you go and tell the the manufacturer, hey, why you

grossua says this, but then the actual experience is not

like this, then they will give you a ton of excuses, right,

and you just have to suck it up blah. But

the word of God is this. God says, everything in

this is real. You try and find anything wrong. If

you find anything wrong, I will personal I will my

name does not matter. If you can find anything wrong

in this. That means right, I'm willing to stick my

whole reputation. I'm really really to strike everything. I am

who I am. If anything in this world is fake,

that is how powerful the word of God is. It

is high. God puts it at a higher place than

his name, and his name is the name above all names.

So that is crazy. So that's why when I was

studying this, I was like, whoa, this is a different

level of confidence. No building manufacturer will say that, hey,

I will stack my whole company. If you find one

crack in the house. You know, it's everything is best effort,

best effort, or you know, if everything is according to plant,

there's a lot of caveats. But the word of God,

there's no caveats. Anything that's written in the world of

God is real, and I'm willing to stake my name

on it. And that's how powerful the word of God is. Right,

And if you if you believe that right. That's why

when when I got this, I was like, WHOA, I

think I want to go and read more more because

to find out what else is or what is in

this thing which God is willing to stake his name,

and it is bigger and better than any other name

that means, any other brand, any other person that gives

any promise, all the promises right is best effort. And

you also know for a fact, you know that you

can't hold them one hundred percent. But only God's word

we can hold to it one hundred percent. Okay. When

we learn that, then suddenly it becomes easier to become

word faithful because suddenly it's like, hey, this thing is legit,

one hundred percent legit, there's no caveats. Why don't we

then want to be faithful to it? If it has

all the promises? Okay? So if we go into what

the word of God is next? Next? Yeah, So the

word of God Hebrews four, verse twelve, where I think

it's stuck, don't worry. Hang, see everything will fail, but

the Word of God won't fail. That, don't worry. Okay.

So if you have your Bibles, tend to Hebrews four,

Verse twelve he Brews four wards twelve. Don't worry, Richard,

I will by time one can he Brews forwards twelve.

So the verse is for the Word of God is

living and powerful, sharper than two aged swords, piercing even

the division of soul and spirit, and of joint and marrow.

And there is a discerner of the thoughts and the

intents of the heart. So it says here that the

Word of God. There are four things about the Word

of God. First, it is living. The Word of God

is this book. First of all, it's one hundred percent accurate. Second,

it's not a historical book. It's not a historical book.

It is a living book, the living Word of God.

That's why when we pray and sometimes God gives us

a word, you know, and it speaks to us, and

we wonder that Rayma word, that Rayma word is that

word that speaks to you at that right moment is

a revelation, you know. So the first thing is it's

a living word. It means it's always a life active,

and it is relevant to our exact moments right now.

We are always depending a lot more on AI. I've

mentioned this in some right. We want the living Word

through AI. That means we want a word to speak

to us in ours particular instance and that exact moment.

Instead of waiting on God or seeking the word of God,

we are looking for instant answers. But when we realize that, hey,

everything else will fail. Only the word of God is

one hundred percent accurate, then we will search it. Okay.

So living second thing is that the Word of God

is powerful. Powerful means that it has real power to change.

Why is it in China you have the smuggle in bibles?

Why is it in communist countries they smuggle in bibles.

The non Christians believe the Bible has more power than

Christians because they know the power that the Bible has

to change their nation and they don't want that to happen.

But we as Christians sometimes downplay how powerful the world

of God is. Okay, the third one is sharp. Okay,

you know, shopper than any two aged sort. So the

third one is sharp. The word of God cuts through

the daily distractions. You know, should I do this? Should

I do the You know? An example? Right that time,

Jazz and myself we went for a campus campus talk

show ex campus. They had a talk show on BGR

boygirl relationship, you know, and then usually one of the

questions in this boygirl relationship ship will be how much

is too much? Meaning that how far can I go

before I start singing? Physically? How far is too far?

Can I hold hands? Can I hug? Can I give

a pack on the cheek? You know? While they're dating

a so they're trying to find a formula. What is

the the closest I can go to the to the Yeah,

closest I can go to the age without falling off,

you know in terms of that, you know, And I

think at that time God just gave wisdom because a

lot of these questions, right, they want to then say, oh,

Jason said, I can't do this, so they want to

trap you. But then I think, I think the wisdom

from the Holy Praates came and say, say, why are

you looking to see what is the most you can

do before you fail? God? You know, we should be

if we know that this is the line to fail God,

instead of seeing how close we can get to the line,

we should be running away from that line. So why

are you asking how close can I get before sinning?

Instead of running away from sin? You know, and that

is the word discernment. You need. The word of God

needs to be shepherd than a two aged sort, so

it will cut through all these noise, all these noise.

That's why the Pharisees are trying to trap Jesus. Whose

coin is this? Do you pay taxes? Jesus just took

the coin whose places on his Caesar? Okay, give to Caesar,

pay tax Just settle. You don't have to get into

unnecessary arguments, and the word of God will give you

wisdom because the world is out to dispute the word

of God. You know, Adam, and if the first sin,

how did what was Satan's technique? Just make if doubt God?

That's all? Did God really say you can't eat? That's all.

So the world is trying to trap and the I

mean downplay how effective the Bible is. But we when

we read the Bible, we need to have discernment. So

that's why right now in the AI world, right even

more so because I think I shared this before. You know,

you know what is discernment. Discernment is not whether differentiating

between what is right and wrong. Discernment is differentiating between

what is right and what is almost right, because right

and wrong he does who know how to discern what

this is right, this is not wrong? But when it's

what is right and what is almost right, that's when

we need the word of God. What is the word

of God? Say? Because the Word of God does not change.

It's the same yesterday, today and forever. The culture may change. Right,

So that's sharp and I also touched discerning. So it

accurately reflects what is truly inside your heart. So there's

I mean this. This is why the word of God

is powerful, and it gives us a basis of Hey,

I am not telling you to be word faithful because

it is an actius thing. I'm telling you that, guys,

we have to be worth faithful because all other ground

is sinking scent. If you know this quicksand, and you

know that this is the solid rock, why would you

want to go to quicksand and then say that I

will try and survive for as long as I will

try and go to the line as close as I can,

you know. So this is why word faithful is important. Okay, now, next,

So there's two parts of being worth faithful, all right,

two parts? Next life, So there is the first part,

is I mean it is summarized into these four points. First,

we prioritize, we receive, we analyze, and then we yield.

You look at all these big words, right, I just

was trying to find acronym okay, So what's the acronym pray?

Because I wanted us okay. I wanted to remember easy

prioritize what. We prioritize the word of God. We receive

what we hear. The word of God. We receive. We

prioritize the word of God. We receive the word of God,

we analyze, analyze is then we discern how does this

apply in my life? How am I going to do?

What is God telling me? This? Analyze is very important

because a lot of people take scripture out of context.

You know, I'm trying to find in the Bible how

to justify my action. That's what King Saul did. King Saul,

when he was waiting for Samuel to come and offer sacrifice,

he wanted to be popular, so he decided to offer

sacrifice instead of the priest. And then when Samuel came

and said that, hey, because you have done this, you

have lost your anointing. And because of that's Aul loss

being king of Israel. Right. But Saul, they said, Hey,

I thought it's good to offer sacrifice to God, and

that's what I'm doing. I'm giving him the best. I

didn't kill all the choices things because I want to

give God the best. And you try and use scripture,

try and use the Bible to justify your bad behavior

or what we believe wrongly. So that's why analyze is

very important. We need to reflect and let the Bible

honestly test our lifestyle and choices. You test our lifestyle

and choices because we know what is right and wrong.

Do you believe that you know what is right and wrong?

You know if some for example, right, you see somebody

who is smoking right or stuff like that, and you

know the falla is like has a chronic cough, You

know stuff, you know what it's the right thing to do.

Do you think he knows what's the right thing to do?

He was a nose. Everyone knows, But you don't measure

what you know against the word of God. And you don't,

which yields leads us to the last point, which is yield.

We need to yield our lifestyle and our choices after

we reflect on the word of God. And that's what

prayer does. That's what prayer does. We prioritize what God says,

we receive and then we understand what he's trying to

tell and then we obey in essence. In essence, that's

what pray is, and that's how we become word faithful.

So if you understay' is that a formula, that's a formula.

But it's a formula not to twist God's arm, but

it's a formula for us to walk closer to God.

God is not a genie. You have to remember that

God is not a genie. It is about us drawing

closer to him, all right. Next, so be doers of

the word and not hearers. Only deceiving yourself. So a

lot of people can quote scriptures, you know, there's a

lot of people that can quote scriptures. In fact, the

people that can quote scriptures the best those who are

arguing against Christianity. Did the Bible really say this? But

why did Jesus say this? They know that they know

the Bible factor. They know that's why if you get

into an argument, it's not gonna help. It's wasting time.

And then at the end, your faith, if you are

not strong, will be deconstructed. You know how deconstruction happens.

You get into arguments and you get into battles that

God doesn't want you to fight. Then if you get

into a battle where God doesn't want you to fight,

means God is not with you, means you are loose.

And then you get this con and then this illusion

and far away from God. So that's why hearing hearing

the word of God is not enough. We have to

do it as well. So there's a brief breackground of

the table. Thanks. I'm not sure whether I'm going too fast, right,

I just wanted Yeah, so this is my thought process.

I'm just walking through my thought process. Okay, So hearers

of the word only. So it's taken from James one,

verse twenty two to twenty five. The whole scripture is

there James one, twenty two to twenty five. If you're

a hero of the word, for ery, if anyone is

a hero of the word and not a doer. The

second one he observes himself, goes away and immediately forgets

what kind of man he was deceiving himself. So imagine

it this way. You do a full medical checkup, you

go to the doctor, the doctor gives you a report,

kind of report. You go back, your wife asks you,

how's your report? Awesome? You forgot everything the doctor I

told you. Basically, it wasn't awesome. Deceiving yourself. But that's

what the Bible does. If we read the Bible, the

Bible will tell us, Hey, what do we need to do,

how we need to improve, and then we need to

act on it. If we say that, hey, God didn't

speak to me, then I'm all good, then we are

probably deceiving ourselves. The word faithful doer, but the be

doers of the word, and not hearers only, but he

who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues

in it. And it's not forgetful hearer, but a doer

of the work. This one will be blessed in what

he does. Same thing, you do a full medical checkup.

You go and listen to the report. The report, the

doctor tells you you have to reduce your cholesterol, you

have to reduce your weight. Suger levels are high. You

go out, you do something about it. Who benefits the doctor? No,

That's why most of the time, I like, God, why

you want me to do this for you? It's like, no,

it's for you, it's for you, it's for us to benefit.

But we get the wrong context next night. So the

dangerous route, the danger of only hearing, is that when

we hear, we seek the truth quickly and then ignore

the changes. Everyone is looking for answers. That's why I

section of books are self help. A lot are hearers

of the words. They read the words, but they are

not doers. If not, we will be living in a

very healthy, very uh compassionate world where no one is

probably the obesity or non communicable diseases you know, Auntie

highest highest costs of disease. It's actually preventable. It's because

of lifestyle choices. And is it because we don't know?

All of us know, how do we stay healthy? Eat well,

sleep well, exercise simple uned all of us know, But

do we do it? You know? And then when we forget,

we quickly default to whatever is easy, So that is

self deception. After that it's like, hey, actually this plan

doesn't work. It doesn't work for me, Like this diet,

like sure not the diet works. One you are not

working the diet, you know, in terms of it, the

faithful route is somebody who carefully looks into the perfect

law that sets you free. So you are saying that

I'm stuck. Why am I stuck? What do I need

to do to get free? And that's what the doctor does.

It tells you that, hey, you have high cholesterol. You

have to reduce this so that you will be set

free of high cholesterol. If you heed that advice, then

whenever there's fried chicken, you stay strong under pressure because

you want freedom from high cholesterol. But it's because you

believe what the doctor said and you want freedom from that.

And that's when when pressures come. Pressures are destructions that

wants to keep you under bondage. And that's why some

people ask, hey, WHI Christians so boring? Cannot have fun?

One like dude? The fun, if you realize it, down

the road leads you into bondage and Christ wants you

to live in freedom and liberty. So the result is

blessed in all they do. Okay, And this is the

third part, So part three, the word anchors us. The

word anchors us. Okay, So maybe I'll jump to a

slight fourteen. Someone's slide. Yeah, so the world is changing

every single day. You do not know what is popular today,

can be can be out tomorrow. You know what is

like like for example, right, the work culture. You all

know the work work culture. So a lot of times

it was into LGBT and a lot into DEI diversity,

equality and inclusion. Right, So all very good concepts if

you if you understand those words there's those are good words,

but they are taken out of context to drive views

that are against the word of God. And the world

is changing every single day, so there's changing of opinions.

The definition of what is right changes as culture drifts.

Last time abortion is unheard of, like you know, you

will probably have to go to some back alley, linique.

It's some unscrupulous medical practitioner will do it for you

because no one wanted to do it. Is not right

now culture is it's my choice. So suddenly it becomes

the right thing to do, and having not or preventing

abortion becomes the wrong thing. Cultural trends. So cultural trends, right,

This is why the devil has the biggest control over media.

Media shapes culture, and the culture will tell you what's cool,

what's not and it appeals the most to the kids.

So the kids grow up with what's school and what's

not they become teenagers and then that becomes their way

of life. Another way is the loudest voice. Whoever has

the loudest voice, we think is right because this person

will speak over other people. They will just tear other

people down. They may be very eloquent at debating and

they are the loudest voice, but it does not mean

that they are right. Yay. So the loudest voice right

will usually force you to take sides fast. So what

you believe, you believe aob whisions better? You better say

a maybe? You know because you're under pressure. And that's

that's why the world there's They force you to take sides,

and then the last is shifting sands. So following the

crowd won't save you in a crisis. You know that

when you follow the crowd, basically everyone will get stuck

in the crisis is if not, the world is. If not,

you will see that the world is getting better and better.

But based on culture, based on the loudest voices, based

on change of opinions, it seems more and more people

want to homeschool their kids. Why because you are you

don't trust the world outside. All you know the media,

like like for example media right, last time, right, I

remember when I was in schooling time, right, like if

the my classmates they had some magazines, you know, they

will bring it to school. And that one right by

today's definition is not even pornography yet, that one, in

today's definition is normal magazines. But at that time what

there was is like hiding it and all the stuff

like that. But you see over time, now all you

have to do is just turn on Netflix. And last time, right,

you probably have to go into some video tape stall

and talk to some guy who and says some secret

code language. Then only you can get this tip or

whatever it is right right now, it's at the click

of our finger. So the world is continuously changing, and

if we anchor our beliefs in what the world believes,

we are drifting off the ledge. So next, so the

world's opinions is a bit small, I'll just read it out.

So the world's opinions constantly changing, evolving. It shifts under pressure.

Do you know that anytime somebody has an opinion under pressure,

they will change, you know? Like the funny thing, right,

there's there's in our Malaysian political scene right right now,

I think there's a new party right And the funniest

thing I read is, oh, this party don't want to

come out with manifesto. I'm like, oh, then they say,

oh no, we just want to focus on fixing the thing,

and like, you don't come out in manifesto means no

one can hold you accountable for what you say. La right,

And that's the thing you under pressure, you that hey,

you say this right, decide the word of God, but

the word of God you say this, that when we

come to God and say God, but your word says this,

all we have to do is wait and see and

and seek him, you know. But if we go to

man and say, hey, you say this right, or this

is only valued until last month, this is only valid

because our currency the time this is high or whatever

it is the latest one, yeah, or it's only valid

because last time previous government, so we had the time

we had special connections now not valid anymore. So it

shifts under pressure, and it is wiser exclusively in the

eyes of men. In the eyes of men, right, everything

that is new right now is wiser. It's a you

all are old fashioned are you sure it works? It's

old fashioned. This is the new way of doing things,

and it ultimately fades over time until the next thing

comes over. But the Word of God is unshakable, is

completely permanent. It anchors the human soul in the storm.

When we go through whatever storm it is, we are anchored.

It's wiser and it and yours through all generations. That's

why what you teach your children, your grandchildren, if you

teach them based on the Word of God, it is

God's word is the same yesterday, today, and forever. But

if you teach them from the parenting books, what you

know some parenting, some is permissive parenting, authoritative parenting. You know,

we have so many based on the whole thing, and

then after that, after that actually not working a change

something else. But if we bring up our families in

the world of God, then it is consistent. Right. So,

even as I draw to us a close, how do

I summarize this, this whole thing? Right, how do we

become word faithful? And what does it mean for us

to be word faithful? It is this next. We have

to anchor our life in the Word of God. We

have to hear the truth, we have to execute, you know,

and ultimately we have to defend our faith. You know,

the world will come and hurl insults against the word

of God, will try and tag the word of God down.

But if you are a word faithful, you will defend

the word. If you are faithful to your wife, you

will defend your wife. If you are faithful to your company,

you will defend you know, it's sae. So if you're

faithful to the word, then you will defend the word.

So even as say get the band up. So the

last light is I tell you this, anchor ourselves today.

Be word faithful. Anchor ourselves today, be the defender of

the Word of God, and be the doer of the

Word of God. And that is how we can become

word faithful. And when we do this, because like I mentioned, right,

God's word he puts it higher than his name and

God's word. If you remember John one, verse one, in

the beginning was the Word, and the word was with God,

and the word was God. And right now Jesus is

the word. Right, so Jesus. When we put our faith

in Jesus, all our promises, all the promises of the

Word of God, and we put our faith in him,

We know that God is in control no matter what

we're going through, no matter what we are facing, because

Jesus is the same yesterday, today, forever. God is the

same yesterday, today and forever and his promises. He is

willing to put everything behind his promises. His promises stand.
