  1. You're listening to a message to go from Acts Church.

  2. We hope this message will light up your tea.

  3. Today. We'll be doing core value number nine, number nine.

  4. So what's that core value? Unity guarded? Yeah, you know.

  5. Scripture says about how blessed is the church when we unified,

  6. you know, unified in Jesus. When we read from Acts

  7. two forty six, it says, so continuing daily with one

  8. accord in the temple and breaking bread from house to house.

  9. They ate food with gladness and simplicity of heart. Hm. Hm.

  10. You know that the temple is what temple was the

  11. house of God. Where's our temple today? Our hearts, our hearts.

  12. We are a temple of the Holy Spirit. To the

  13. Temple of God was a place where believers met. So

  14. today this is our temple. We are believers. We are

  15. meeting together. We are unified in glorifying Jesus this morning. Right,

  16. how many of you have come here to glorify anybody

  17. but Jesus. Put up your hand, ha ha, got you.

  18. How many of you have come here to worship anything

  19. or know anything but Jesus. So anyway, praise the Lord,

  20. the House of God, the House of God. You know

  21. what the scripture says. The scripture says that the breaking

  22. of bread, they met with one accord in the temple

  23. and breaking off bread. What is the breaking of bread? Communion?

  24. So what do we do when we take communion? What

  25. do we do? Well? Scripture says about taking communion, it

  26. is reaffirming and remembering Jesus. Every time we take communion.

  27. What are we doing? We are reaffirming and remembering Jesus.

  28. So now the scripture says that the church were in

  29. one accord, and what were they doing? Always remembering, always

  30. reaffirming Jesus through what the breaking of bread? And then

  31. it says here breaking of bread? I see it so

  32. continuing daily with one accord in the temple and breaking

  33. of bread from house to house. I used to think

  34. that they went from one house break bread, they go

  35. to another house, break bread, they go to another house.

  36. That may well be true, but actually I believe what

  37. Scripture is saying here is that everywhere you went, if

  38. you went from house to house, if you go to

  39. this house or that, you will find the same thing.

  40. That's what scripture is drawing us too. Scripture is saying

  41. that no matter where you went, it was the same.

  42. What was the same? Every house you went, it was

  43. the same. This was what it was. They ate their

  44. food whatever they had. What did they do? They were glad.

  45. They were glad, wit and simplicity of heart. So everywhere

  46. you went, you know what you saw. They were a

  47. people who were satisfied. They were a people who were

  48. not coveteous. They were a people who were glad with

  49. whatever God gave them. They were a thankful people. So

  50. what Scripture is saying is every house that you went to,

  51. you see these people. They were satisfied with what God

  52. had given them. They were blessed of the Lord. They

  53. ate their food with simplicity. You know what it also

  54. means They had moved away from self focus. They had

  55. moved away from self focus to the needs of others. Wow,

  56. how wonderful it is to be focused on the needs

  57. of others. They simplified their desires so others could benefit. Wow,

  58. that's quite a tough thing, you know. You simplify your

  59. desire so you could use whatever resources you have to

  60. bless somebody else. Did you know that? That's what descripture means.

  61. So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, breaking

  62. of bread from house to house. They ate their food

  63. with gladness and simplicity of heart. Now we want to

  64. move on. In John seventeen twenty two, it says, and

  65. the glory and the glory which you gave me, I

  66. have given to them. Who is saying this, Jesus? So

  67. you got to use the Jesus voice. And the glory

  68. which you gave me, I have given them that they

  69. may be one, just as we are one. This was

  70. a pre that Jesus was praying to God, and he

  71. was saying, that glory which you gave me, I have

  72. given to them. Why who are the them? Who are

  73. the them? We are the them? Weather them? God has

  74. Jesus has given us the glory which God had given

  75. to him. Nice piano playing, by the way, first time

  76. I'm seeing you play. You must be classical trained, because

  77. it sounds classical that they may be one just as

  78. we are one. Now, let's study this word a little bit,

  79. because ah, I need to understand exactly what Jesus was

  80. talking about when he was talking about that glory which

  81. God had given him. Is very important, you know, because

  82. if we understand what that glory God had given Jesus,

  83. we understand what glory Jesus has given to us. So

  84. with this thing glory, most of us when meeting glory

  85. is oh, celebrate the name. Oh it's like a popstar.

  86. You go and all the girls go. Is that what

  87. scripture is talking about. I don't think so. It is

  88. a deeper meaning. Now, this word glory comes from the

  89. Greek word doxa, doxa, which means honor, praise, worship, glory, glorious, approval,

  90. majesty's brightness, honor. So basically what it is talking about,

  91. it's referring to this particular word that is used three

  92. times in the chapter of John seventeen. All right, in

  93. the chapter of John seventeen. Here's this whole Scripture we're

  94. talking about is the word doxa, which means an infinite

  95. and intrinsic worth. It means a good opinion, something of

  96. great worth. So Jesus was saying, that great worth which

  97. you gave me, that great value which you put in me.

  98. Guess what I have given to them who were the them?

  99. We are the them. So guys, if you think that

  100. you and I are not worth it, you have no

  101. idea what you're talking about. Because Scripture is telling me

  102. that the value of worth that has been given to

  103. us is the same value that God gave to Jesus.

  104. You do you understand what you are and who you

  105. are in the eyes of God. When you gave your

  106. life to Jesus, he came into your heart. And guess

  107. what He gave them? Power to be called sons and daughters.

  108. It wasn't just a name, you know, it was everything.

  109. The power and value and authority behind it also is yours.

  110. It's been a rough week, rough two weeks for me

  111. and my family because my father is now in clang

  112. General Hospital and he most likely will not make it.

  113. He's been there for the last couple of weeks. Monday

  114. will be two weeks. But I want you to know, am,

  115. I said, I am, But I met am. I distraught.

  116. Know why because on the Monday that he came to

  117. hospital and I found out about it, I came. I

  118. met him an emergency. I came by his side and

  119. he was awake, and you know, he was happy to

  120. see me. He recognized me because he smiled. I said, Dad,

  121. do you know Jesus loves you? Let's pray and if

  122. you believe these words of mine, I want you to

  123. repeat it and receive Jesus in your heart if that

  124. is your desire. So he said, Father, in the name

  125. of Jesus, forgive me for my sins, cleanse me from

  126. all the wrong that I have done. And Lord, I

  127. want to say, I believe in Jesus. You gave him

  128. to save me, and I received him into my heart

  129. as personal Lord and savior. And I am free from

  130. those things which kept me away from you. So now

  131. I confess Jesus with my lips and confess Jesus in

  132. my belief. And I am saved because of Jesus. And

  133. you know what, it wasn't just me praying the prayer.

  134. He repeated every word that I said, and he gave

  135. his life to Jesus. And from that moment, I just

  136. told him that you have no worries left. He's ninety four,

  137. by the way, you have lived a long life. I

  138. need you to know you have nothing to worry about.

  139. I need you to know that it's going to be okay.

  140. I need you to know Jesus loves you and is

  141. waiting for you. So don't worry about anything. We'll take

  142. care of mom. We'll look after her. Just be happy.

  143. You know who you'll be seeing in heaven. You'll be

  144. meeting Jennifer, my sister, first to go, and you'll see

  145. Nigel there. Nigel was the second to go, my brother.

  146. And I said, they'll be waiting to see you. It's

  147. gonna be a joyful time. You don't have to worry.

  148. So do you believe that? He said, yes, the same

  149. glory that God had given to Jesus had now been

  150. given to my father. And now you see this man.

  151. He since that day, he came so close so many times,

  152. and every time he came to the brink, he came back.

  153. And when he came back, we asked him this question.

  154. Do you know the church is praying for you? He

  155. says yes, I'm so grateful. Wow. I mean, if I

  156. were to tell you the medical issues is going now

  157. at ninety four, how could he possibly survive that? It

  158. is so his situation is he survives septic shock, which

  159. is unheard of in a ninety four year old. But

  160. he survived it. But he's still in a critical state.

  161. But you want to know something. You go and you

  162. see him. He has a smile on his face. He

  163. has a smile on his face. Guys, I need you

  164. to know that there's something different about knowing Jesus. It

  165. doesn't make your wimp, It makes you strong. It makes

  166. you ready. Why you are unified with God the Father,

  167. and unified with Jesus and unified with the Holy Spirit

  168. in the same way. Scripture says that when Jesus gave

  169. that glory and when God gave that glory to Jesus,

  170. the same word is used when Jesus gave that glory

  171. to us. It's not a different word. For example, my

  172. father gave me an inheritance and I gave my grass

  173. cutter some money. You think it's the same. You think

  174. the level is the same. So when your father gives

  175. you an inheritance, is it the same as you're giving

  176. some money to a grass cutter. No, but I want

  177. you to know Scripture is talking about this word where

  178. God had given Jesus and Jesus is given to us.

  179. Is the same word. You know what it means. It

  180. means bestore, bring forth. He committed to us, he delivered,

  181. he granted to us, he ministered to us, he showed

  182. to us, he yielded to us. Guys, when you and

  183. I read Scripture, we have to know there's much more

  184. to it than just some of its words in English,

  185. because English are very limited language. I always say this

  186. in Chinese, you say, grandfather on the mother's side is what? Ah?

  187. Why come on father's side? Yeah? Yeah, is that right? Okay?

  188. You see if I say it in Chinese, A yeah, yeah,

  189. you know exactly who I'm talking about. If I say Wykong,

  190. you know exactly what I'm talking about. If I say

  191. in English my grandfather, you do not know what it's

  192. on my father's side and my mother's side. You see

  193. the difference. That's the problem in English. So sometimes when

  194. you want to understand scripture, you must go a little

  195. bit deeper. Anyway, we are taking this from John chapter seventeen.

  196. The whole of John chapter seventeen is like a report

  197. that Jesus is giving to God. It's like his report.

  198. I've done everything. This is my report. And when it

  199. talks about, for example seventeen glory, this word glorify, This

  200. word glorify. This word glorify occurs in this chapter about

  201. between five and seven times, and the basically two Greek words.

  202. The first word means it already given, but you've got

  203. to make it work. In other words, let's put it

  204. this way. I let's say I've been given a policeman's badge,

  205. all right, so I have all the power in that

  206. policeman's badge. But if I stand on the side of

  207. the road and don't use it, it's not manifested. Right I

  208. go into the road, I put my hand up, people

  209. will stop. That's the manifestation. All right now, these, of

  210. course not great examples, but I'm trying my best, all

  211. right now. In chapter seventeen, verse twenty two, and the

  212. glory which you have now given me I've given to

  213. them is a different word. This means it's already done.

  214. Everything about it is complete. But in the first part

  215. when it's talking, it's talking about it's there but to

  216. be done. Okay. And I think it's very good for

  217. us to read to know that in John chapter seventeen,

  218. the word of definitive of that word is actually mentioned

  219. eight times, not five or seven. Eight times. In verse

  220. twenty two, it speaks of the definitively the glory that

  221. Jesus Christ, of Jesus Christ and who he is worthy

  222. in every way. In other verses it means that which

  223. is in us, that is already as is Christ is

  224. being manifested more and more. All right, So basically in

  225. theology it means this the already and not yet Christian identity,

  226. the already you inhabit, the glory of God, the not

  227. yet it's an ongoing manifestation, and the climax it becomes

  228. a reality. I know this is a little bit technical

  229. I'm going, but you see, you have to understand that

  230. in John chapter seventeen we are moving from that to us. Okay,

  231. let's just go into John chapter seventeen a little bit.

  232. Jesus spoke these words, lifted up his eyes to heaven

  233. and said, Father, the hour has come. Glorify your son,

  234. that your son may also glorify you. This is jesus prayer,

  235. as you have given him authority over all flesh, that

  236. he should give eternal life to as many as you

  237. have given him. Jesus never lost anybody whoever God gave

  238. to him. It happened. And this is eternal life, that

  239. they may know. You. My father knows Jesus Christ. And

  240. what does scripture say? He has eternal life, the only

  241. true God, and Jesus whom you have sent. So if

  242. anyone says there are many ways to God, I'm sorry.

  243. It's not true. There is only one way that's true, Jesus.

  244. And this is what Jesus report is. I have glorified

  245. you on the earth. I have finished the work which

  246. you have given me to do. And now Father, glorify

  247. me together with yourself with the glory which I have

  248. with you. Before the world was Jesus left his glory

  249. in heaven to come down and be God's sacrifice to

  250. save us. Now he is saying, I'm going back to

  251. that glory which I have been with you all along,

  252. which I knew. I am going back to that glory.

  253. I have manifested your name to the men whom you

  254. have given me out of the world. They were yours.

  255. You gave them to me. Now they have known that

  256. all things which you have given me ah from you.

  257. Do you know why the church was satisfied with whatever

  258. they had because they believed it's what God gave them

  259. and it was fine. So God didn't give you, Alexis

  260. he gave you a proton saga. Be happy with it? Why?

  261. Because God gave it to you. That's what Scripture is saying.

  262. It's not talking about proton sagas and a lexus. Okay,

  263. this is an example, for I have given them the

  264. words which you have given me, and they have received

  265. them and have known surely that I came forth from you,

  266. and they have believed that you have sent me. Wow,

  267. it's so important for us to believe in Jesus. If

  268. there's anyone here that doesn't know Jesus Christ as Lord

  269. and Savior, when an opportunity is given for you to

  270. receive him, receive him. I pray for them this Jesus.

  271. I pray for them. I do not pray for the world,

  272. but for those whom you have given to me, for

  273. they are yours, and all mine are yours, and all

  274. yours are mine. And I am glorified in them. Now

  275. I am no longer in the world, but these are

  276. in the world, and I come to you, Holy Father,

  277. Keep through your name those whom you have given me,

  278. that they may be one, as we are one. Jesus

  279. and God are one. Scripture says that we believers must

  280. be together as one. And I just love EX Church

  281. because EX Church has taught me a lot about being

  282. one with the Christian family at large. You know, EX

  283. Church is not everything about O X Church or EX

  284. Church or X. Do you know what we are about.

  285. We're about helping and befriending and being a part of

  286. the Christian community beyond the walls of ex church, helping

  287. them together. Not having this thing. What's mine is mine

  288. and yours is yours. No, we will share with the

  289. church at large. Why because chripture says we are all

  290. in this together, we are one. That's lovely. When I

  291. was growing up as a Christian in the late seventies

  292. and early eighties, Christian churches did not do this. They

  293. were all about their own church, and they very rarely

  294. worked in tandem with other churches. I praise the Lord,

  295. and I thank God. Things have changed. I see so

  296. much of church into church help and action, and that

  297. is truly, truly wonderful. That is that is Jesus' prayer

  298. coming to pass. Let's move on. While I was with

  299. them in the world, I kept them in your name.

  300. Those whom you gave me I have kept. And none

  301. of them is lost except the son of addition, that

  302. description might be fulfilled. Who is that Judas? The only

  303. one that Jesus lost was Judas? And why was that?

  304. Because Judas made a decision. I don't want you, Jesus,

  305. I want the money, honey. So he got the money

  306. and he gave up Jesus. But now I come to

  307. you that these things I speak in the world, that

  308. they may have my joy fulfilled in them. I have

  309. given them your word, and the world has hated them

  310. because they are not of the world, just as I

  311. am not of the world. You know, have you ever

  312. wondered about this world? It is bent on separation? Right? No, No,

  313. this world is bent on separation. When I was growing up,

  314. there was only gay. You're gay or you're not. Now

  315. you've got LGBTQI plus plus plus plus. You know why

  316. everyone is looking to separate? Why not? You're not my

  317. race separate, You're not my caste separate. The world is

  318. into separation, but Jesus is into bringing them together. Why

  319. when you separate, you make them weak. When you're together,

  320. you are strong. While I was with them in the world,

  321. I kept them in your name. Those whom you gave

  322. me I have kept. Has God given you to Jesus

  323. if you aren't sure afterwards, when you're giving an opportunity,

  324. make sure those whom you have given me I have kept.

  325. And none of them is lost except the son of

  326. Petition that the script you might be fulfilled. But now

  327. I come to you and these things I speak to

  328. in the world, that they may have my joy fulfilled

  329. in themselves. I've given them your word, and the world

  330. has hated them because they are not of this world.

  331. Just as I am not of the world. I do

  332. not pray that you should take them out of the world,

  333. but that you should keep them from the evil one.

  334. That they are not of the world, just as I

  335. am not of the world. Sanctify them by your what truth.

  336. Your word is truth, So sanctify them by your word.

  337. What makes us holy? The Bible scripture. You want to

  338. be closer to God, get with the word. You want

  339. to know more about God, Get with the word. It's

  340. not Christian songs, it's not Christian music. It's the word

  341. of God. One helps you to get to know better.

  342. But one is the one that gets you better. As

  343. you have sent me into the world, I have sent

  344. them into the world. Wow, we don't sit idly. We

  345. have a task. What is that task? Look out, search

  346. out for those that do not Jesus, do not know Jesus,

  347. and get them saved. Just like the first thing on

  348. my mind when I heard my dad was in hospital

  349. get him saved. This was the man I in my

  350. life I received my first punch from because I said

  351. I believe in Jesus, and I got punched in the

  352. face for that. You must remember this with the seventies. Okay,

  353. this is forty seven years ago. You never went against

  354. your parents. If you did, you were dead meat. So obviously,

  355. when I told my father I had given my life

  356. to Jesus, it was either the Lord God him. I

  357. chose God. I got punched in the face. But you

  358. know what, nothing happened to me. Forty seven years later,

  359. my father gives his life to Jesus. Was it worth it?

  360. You better believe it. You had better believe it. It

  361. was absolutely worth it. And for their sakes, I sanctify

  362. myself that they may also be sanctified. Okay, we're coming

  363. to the end of seventeen. I do not pray for

  364. those alone, but also for those who will believe in

  365. me through their word. You know that's good. You know why,

  366. because Jesus is making sure that you and I can

  367. never say, oh, that was only for those times. It's ongoing,

  368. and it has been ongoing for the last two thousand years.

  369. That they may all be as one. They may all

  370. be as one as you and I, as as you,

  371. Father are in me and I in you, that they

  372. may also be one in us, and the world may

  373. believe that you sent me and the glory and this

  374. is it, and the glory and the glory that you

  375. gave me. I have given to them, that they may

  376. be one, just as we are one, I in them

  377. and you in me, that they may be made perfect

  378. in one, and that the world may know that you

  379. have sent me and have loved me, Love them as

  380. you have loved me. Father. I desire that they, also,

  381. whom you gave me, may be with me where I

  382. am in heaven, where he was going to be in

  383. the glory of God. That's what he was saying. That

  384. they may behold my glory which you have given me.

  385. See me for who I am in the glory of heaven.

  386. For you loved me before the foundation of the world.

  387. Jesus was saying, what I existed long before this earth.

  388. Let them see me as I truly am, Oor Righteous Father.

  389. The world has not known you, but I have known you,

  390. and these have known you. That you have sent me,

  391. And I declare to them your name and will declare

  392. it that the love which you loved me may be

  393. in them and I in them. Unity is powerful. You

  394. cannot easily bring down a church or a family that

  395. is truly one. Division is the enemy's greatest weapon against

  396. us because he knows that a house divided cannot stand,

  397. but a house that is united that is a friend story.

  398. You don't have to agree with everything with one another,

  399. but one thing you can agree. You're one. Do I

  400. agree with my brothers, my actual brothers, not my church brothers,

  401. not all the time. But are we unified in looking

  402. after our parents and their salvation? Yes? We are. We

  403. work very well together in that. Why we are unified? Guys,

  404. The enemy will try and destroy the church through disunity.

  405. We believe that we need to guard the unity of

  406. the church. Why so that no weapon formed against us

  407. will prosper Because he knows that a house divided cannot stand,

  408. but a house that is united. That is a different story.

  409. Are we a united house? When you find your marriage

  410. is in trouble, ask yourself, are you unified? Or are

  411. you pulling in different directions? You know exactly what to

  412. work on. What does Mark three twenty five say? And

  413. if a house is divided against itself. The house cannot stand.

  414. The house cannot stand. You know how many of you

  415. have done an extension to your house. Usually it's the

  416. kitchen right the back they push out. How many have

  417. you noticed that a crack always appears between a new

  418. place and the old place. Why not you notice that?

  419. You know why? Because that part wasn't in your house

  420. the first place. It was not built in unison with

  421. your house. But if that part was built, when the

  422. house is built, it won't crack. There's always something that

  423. is drawing us to keep together God, unity and unity

  424. will guard you.

  425. Yeah.

  426. We live in a generation that is quick to separate,

  427. quick to offend. Huh, I'm offended, so I don't want

  428. to speak to you anymore. Get over it, because I'll

  429. tell you this. Am I going to offend you. I'm

  430. probably offending some of you today, But don't hold it

  431. against me. Don't hold offense against anybody, because you don't

  432. want something that is from the outside to spoil your

  433. relationship with God. Okay, quick to offend, quick to withdraw,

  434. quick to speak against our own goding. Unity takes real effort,

  435. real submission. You know what is the effort separating what's

  436. important from what's not, separating what's important from what's not,

  437. deferring when you would rather win, protecting first before accusing,

  438. choosing to build when everything you want to do or

  439. everything and he wants to tear down. In other words,

  440. scriptures say, well, you know it's not scripture, but what

  441. this means is if you follow what scripture says in

  442. John chapter seventeen. Working together is about understanding our purpose,

  443. understanding what God has told us to do, and doing it.

  444. When we give our report to God, we can be

  445. like Jesus, I'm coming back to you. I'm coming home. Wow.

  446. Wouldn't it be nice to say when just before I

  447. go home to be with the Lord, I say, Lord,

  448. I'm coming home. That you've told me to do, I've done,

  449. I'm coming home. That would really be like wonderful, wouldn't it.

  450. So every investment you make in protecting unity will one

  451. day come back to protect you. It come back to

  452. protect you. There will be a moment when you fall

  453. and we all fall. We will fail sometimes, but what

  454. we have sown into the community of oneness will return

  455. to us in that hour. The same applies to marriage. God,

  456. your marriage and your marriage will God, you, unity will

  457. stand by you. What protects you today will protect you.

  458. It will protect you today, it will protect you tomorrow.

  459. I can't get over the fact that Jesus was not selfish. Well,

  460. how wonderful is that everything God had given him you

  461. went and gave it to us. And it's quite amazing

  462. how many of us can be like that, Oh you've

  463. given me something, we'll keep some for ourselves and we'll

  464. give others, which is also okayla, you know. But the

  465. thing is this when it comes to Jesus, Jesus does

  466. things in absolutes. He's not afraid because when he gave

  467. us the glory that God had given to him, what

  468. was he saying? We're going to be one day in

  469. heaven and these people are going to glorify you God

  470. the same way that I glorify you. Unity guarded. It's

  471. not a very easy thing to share, not a very

  472. easy thing to talk about. But I want you to

  473. know that if you've forgotten everything else about what I've

  474. said today, remember this. Jesus wants us to be one

  475. with each other the same way that he is one

  476. with God the Father. And he's saying it's not impossible

  477. to do because everything that God has given to me,

  478. I have given to you everything. And what is the everything?

  479. This is where we find it all. This is where

  480. we find it all. I look around the room. There

  481. are not many people who are on the other side

  482. of the hill like me. Okay, some of you are

  483. stopped going up the hill, meaning that you've got a

  484. long life ahead of you. Study the word. It's worth it.

  485. It's going to help you for the years and years

  486. and years and years to come. But for me, where

  487. I'm on the other side of the hill, it's okay

  488. because in the years that I got left is Jesus.

  489. It's going to be It's gonna be okay, It's going

  490. to be okay. All things point to Him, all things

  491. through Him, with Him in him. And that's what I

  492. have to share with you. Today's a little bit short

  493. to this message is shot. Can you be unified? Can

  494. you and I think of more than just ourselves? Can

  495. we think of the Church has been important enough to

  496. remain unified even when the church hurts you? What the

  497. church hurts you? Yes, the Church does hurt us from

  498. time to time. You know when the church hurts us.

  499. Usually the church hurts us when He tells us the

  500. truth and we don't like to hear it right now,

  501. how many of you relieve church because the church tells

  502. you what you want to hear. I know many people

  503. who leave church when the church tells them what they

  504. don't want to hear. The truth hurts. But if you

  505. and I are to grow, if you and I to

  506. become strong, if you and I are to get anywhere

  507. in life, we should build a skin thick enough to

  508. hear the truth. And what does the scripture say? The

  509. truth will set us free.

  510. We hope you've been blessed by this message. For more
