Grieving the Holy Spirit Bishop Ebenezer Obodai 20th July 2025

Hallelujah. Let's send to the Lord in prayer. Father, we

give you thanks for this opportunity to come before you

together or going around your word, as we share a

few thoughts from your word.

We are that you will bless your word.

Let the light be turned on and let darkness be dispelled.

In the name of Jesus.

Stare us up, Oh God, and stare up our understanding,

open our eyes to see, our ears to hear, and

our hearts to receive. That our lives will be all

that you have papers for it to be in Jesus

Many name. Amen, please be seated in the wonderful presence

of the Lord. Hallelujah. Well this morning, by the instructions

of our paper and the direction of your Bishop, I

have a special assignment to present to you the Word

of God. Amen. I was specifically given a passage of

scripture to speak on, and being a teacher of the Word,

I will stay with it, and we would teach for me.

But I was telling them in the first service that

a shot at those that passage is the passage. You

and I are looking at this just about eight verses.

But we can dwell on these eight verses for more

than one month and we will not exhaust it because

it is loaded with principles required for the child of

God to live a meaningful life.

To live the Christian life in a way that will

please God.

So it's a load of scripture and it's part of

pass letter to the people of Ephesus. So's the book

of a When you go to as chapter eighteen, you

see Paul visited the people at Ephesus. You read about

the goddess Diana. The goddess Diana was in Ephesus, and

Paul had all kinds of encounters there. When you go

to the Book of Revelations, the salmant of God was

asked to write to the Angel of the church in

Ephesus in Revelations chapter two, so that people of Ephisos

had a special path on God's heart and they were

very special to Paul. And when you read the Book

of Ephicians, you realize that it's a little different. Even

though the people of Koran where people who had every

spiritual gift manifested in that church, the mable said they

lacked no gift, yet they were troublesome. At one time,

Paul said, you are too Canal, I can't talk to

you like spiritual people, because the canality was being portrayed

and displayed in different forms and person I have a

problem even addressing you. It was so bad that you

come to chapter five and you see a man sleeping

with his father's wife in Koreans, and Paul is writing

in the in the letter to them, meaning this man

was not even an unbeliever.

He was in the church.

But let's leave Koran and let's quickly come to emphasus hallelujah.

Come with me to chapter four. Chapter four begins with

an interesting discussion. I love it, but I'm not going

to do all one it because I love it too much.

And to fulfill my joy, be of one mind, have

a particular mindset, maintain the unity of the faith, because

there is one God, one faith.

One.

This is one days. It goes through a whole list,

which you can take your time to welcome. But come

to verse twenty five, which is our focus for today.

It said, therefore putting away line, I'm ready from the

new King James to make it easier. My normal standard default,

let me say what we call it. My regular book

of operason is King James. Amen, that's the default. But

today we are starting from new King James to make

it easy. Therefore, putting away lie, Let each man, or

each one of you speak the truth with his neighbor,

for we are members of one another. Be angry and

do not sing. Do not let the sun go down

on your wrath. Now give place to the devil. Let

him who's still still no longer, but rather let him

labor work in with his with his hands. What is

good that he may have something to give him who

has need. Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth,

but what is good for necessary ratification, that it may

impart grace to the heroes. And do not grieve the

Holy Spirit of God by whom you were sealed for

the day of redemption. Let all bitterness, rough anger, clamor,

and evil speaking be put away from you with all malice,

and be kind to one another, tender hatted for giving

one another, even as God.

For Christ's sake forgive you. Say amen.

The reading of the scripture is clear enough to answer

all questions that you may have.

Because this scripture is very very clear.

But we want to step back and I will take

it up from twenty five. Come with me to twenty two.

Paul had this to say.

He said.

That you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man,

which girls corrupt according to the deceitful lust. Put off

the old man and be renewed in the spirit of

your mind. And that you put on the new man,

which was created according to God in true righteousness and holiness.

Say amen. He said, put off. If you don't put off,

you can't put on.

If you can't, if you don't take some things out,

you can't put anything in.

In.

The container is full. You can't add to it until

you empty it. Praise the name of the Living God.

So partly saying that you have dressed, and you have walked,

and you have behaved in a particular way in the past.

You have followed a particular pattern in the past. But

he said, because of where you are going, you cannot

continue like that.

Hallelujah.

Because of where you are going and what God wants

to do in your life, you cannot continue that way.

So he said, put off the former conduct, the former

way of doing things, the former lifestyle, if you like,

and he said he called it the old man, if

you like, the old woman, the old boy, and the

old girl. Amen. And he said, put on something else.

That's been renewed in the spirit of your mind. As

a man thinketh, so is he. And it's very interesting

that Scripture says, as a man thinketh in his heart,

so is he. We thought the heart only pump blood.

But as a man thinketh in his heart, so is he.

And here is been renewed by the spirit of your mind. Hallelujah.

Something must change in your mind to affect the way

you reason, to affect the way you process, and to

affect the way you live. There must be a renewing

of our minds that we will shake off the things

of the past and embrace the things of God. It

doesn't matter how long you have followed the old pattern.

A day must come in your life where you decide

that I want to change and do better. And may

today be that day in your life. In the name

of Jesus, May today be that day where you take

a decision where you intention You are so intentional.

To the point why.

You decide certain things will no more manifest in my life.

Say amen, I put on the new man. I was

telling them, you see your beautiful your dress this morning.

You couldn't have worn what you're wearing this morning if

you hadn't taken off what you were wearing yesterday.

You couldn't have worn what you're wearing this morning.

For some of you, if you hadn't taken off your pajamas,

or you're ninety, if you walked in here the same

way you slept yesterday, Boy, no, be scatter. I know

some of you don't sleep with ninety. I've not one

ninety before. Some of you don't wear any prejamas. But

a few things you wore. You had to remove it

before you came and put something else on. Appropriise for

where you were coming. And it's the same in the spirit.

If you don't take off the old, you cannot put

on the new.

For most of us, you took off the old.

You took a shower, even though some people didn't shower,

and you want something else to come here. May God

help us to dress for where we are going. Put

your hands together and give him praise as part of it. Therefore,

he said, in the light of all this, in the

light of the changeover from the old to the new,

twenty five, put our line and let every man speak truth.

The lies are too much in tro I'm my leg.

The lies. Even in charge.

We lie for many reasons. People like to get an advantage.

They lie to get something they want and they cannot have.

Some lie because they are afraid. Some lie because they

want to escape. Some of you, young ladies, they've lied

to you. Are you don't know what to believe again

since they started promising to marry you if it was true.

But now you'll have had twins. I'm talking about those

who have aged. I'm not talking about the thirteen year olds.

But I'm saying that they make promises which they know

they are not ready to fulfill. Lies, put away, lie,

put away lying as I what hallelujah? You see the

mother says something or that. The New Living translations that.

So stop telling lies. Simple, stop telling lies, and let

us tell our nighbors the truth.

Simple, stop telling lies. Amen?

Why because there are sixteens? God hates seven an abomination

onto him professor of sixteen to nineteen sixteen, God hates

and he enlisted them. He said these six things the

Lord hates. When God hates something, it music can't stand it.

My default Bible for today is in New King James. Oh,

anytime I don't mention the version, just know I mean

you King James. Amen, yes, seven, an abomination to him.

Number one seventeen. A proud look, out girls, and a

proud look. It's very interesting. He didn't say pride. He said,

a proud look. The proud look you carry yourself, and

it is arrogance personified. There's a look, proud look. There's

the way you look that everybody can tell that this

guy is arrogant. And God has pride, and the same

way his pride. He is number two. What is number two?

A lying tongue. This is your tongue, this small tongue

in your mouth, James said, this small tongue, this small

member in our mouth, can start fire. Nations have been

turned against nations because of tongue. Relationships have been destroyed.

Business is destroyed, family destroyed because of this small animal

called tongue, a lying tongue and whisper. Surprise, chief, friends,

God is lying tongues. Please stop lying, he continues. I

don't have time for the others. God, that's the why

I'm dealing with the battle. Certain Revelations, Apter twenty one,

verse eight. The cowardly, the unbelieving they're abominable. The madress,

the sexually immoral sorceress, idolaties, and all liars shall have

their part in the lake which burns with what fire

and brimstone, which is the second death?

What you frown.

Over all the other sexual im morality, maddress, et cetera.

And God is equitting liar with madress and sexually im

moral and putting all of them into the lake of

what second death. So you'll be walking around and tell

you is that a literally lie? Yes, a little lie

mine is white, lie mine is black.

Lie. All life be lie, all death be death. Eh. Stop,

Tell somebody to stop lying.

And learn to speak the truth, because lies can take

you into hell. Befaire, George has come. What is your problem?

Why can't you speak the truth? Ah, putting a sigh.

We can't teach. I can't dwell on this. If I

go into the scripture, we will not finish. But let

me move on. It's a speak the truth, even the truth.

Go to verse fifteen of efficients after four, even the

truth that says, speak the truth in love. It's not

every truth that you must speak. Who asked you man?

Your business? It's not every truth that you drop out there.

Sometimes we drop information just to tanish people's image, just

to bring them down. Somebody is doing well and that

you remember something that happened ten years ago. No, no,

not mine, not my way school.

It was like that. It was like that. She was

like that. But what is a person doing today?

People have changed, many people have changed and they are

doing better. You who is criticizing, remove the log from

your own eyes. It's not every truth that you throw

out there. That is why i'd be sure rehass. That's

a proverb, which is a god proverb. I'm not qual

any drama. There are some truth that when you put

it out there, it can destroy a family and nation,

So you hold onto it. Amen, Speak the truth, even

the truth in love. What does it mean apart from

moving from life? When you choose the truth, speak the truth.

Be guided even in speaking the truth. Don't just throw

any information out there because you have it. Jesus said,

I am the Way, i am the truth, and I'm

the life. Jun't of the fourteen verse six, John seventeen seventeen.

Sanctify them by your truth. You're aware is truth. Talk

about the word. If you don't have any other truth

to talk about, talk about the word. Share the truth

of God's word, and you will not have time to

share the negative information about people. But there's constructive truth

that will build and enhance and promote that you are

allowed to share, but don't just put people down because

you are from secret information. And now with social media

and all kinds of things, some people are as fats in.

Sharing bad news. Why have you heard on? Do you

know what is going on?

I care? I care, I care? You see, yes see,

and you keep forwarding it, You keep forwarding it. When

was the last time you forwarded a Christian memory verse?

When when was the last time you forward that a

message from the Bible. It's only coo conci. So you're

not saying it by yourself? Are spreading it.

May God help us to speak the truth.

You know, for those of you who are older enough,

you realize that some people have died many times, but

they are still walking. Why you go to such a

mean and say, hey, some such a person is dead.

And as for Dangote, he's died like ten times, but

the man is still alive. Ill will May every ill

will backfire, May every evil branding backfire? Any demanding level

they are put over you, let it catch fire. Any

evil they are speaking about you, to tannish your heart

and reputation. Let him be of a turn and let

the evil covering catch fire. In the name of Jesus,

please this seated hallelujah. They brand you with lies to

complicate your journey. It's not just that you are the

truth your west. You say this with the tenants, but

then you can after you talk about all the lies

and you come.

Said what you can't be angry, but do not sin,

and then don't They said, you can be angry, but

don't sin, and don't let the sun go down whilst.

You're still angry.

Now these scriptures, we memorize them from secondary school, so

we can speak it from our head, from the beginning

to the end. We don't need to read it.

It's sad.

You can be angry. Why because anger is an emotion.

Sometimes you don't invite it it comes. But when the

anger comes, you have a responsibility to deal with it.

Somebody may say something, somebody may act in a certain

way to provoke you. But they said, even if you

do get angry with you have the luxury and the

privilege of accepting still you cannot sing. Don't sin by

what you say or what you do and use anger

as an excuse. So even if you do get angry,

don't say number two. Don't let the sun go down

whilst you are still angry. Some of you people hit

you in primary school. You're still looking for them to

punish them. You're still looking for them. People had you

in your ages. You are still waiting for them. I

know people who remembered even nursery, somebody who gave them

a knock. Don't let the sun go downs you're still angry.

What does it mean? Set on the issue before you

go to sleep. What I'm dealing with, marriage, the marriage couple.

Then I had another cave yet you know what about

if I got angry in the night. Okay, that's all right.

Don't let tomorrow's sun go down. You still can't escape.

So at the time I got angry, the sun was

already down. Okay, you keep it for the night, but

don't let tomorrow's sun go now. Put your hands together

and give praise. Don't let the sun go down. If

you're holding somebody in your heart, release them. You've kept

the anger too long. Rest twenty seven. Neither give place

to the devil your anger and your actions. If not

governed by scripture, will lead you into sin and to

open the door for the enemy to come. He said,

don't give place to the devil. The devil is already

looking for a place. Don't give him a foothold. If

you give him an inch, you will take a meter.

So don't give the devil. Don't play into the hands

of the enemy. Don't allow him to mess up what

you are doing. Don't allow you to mess up what

God is doing in your life. By the reason of

I am just angry. And then he said, if it's

twenty eight, let him the store steal no more he

will used to steal. He just stop stealing. Paul, you

are right in to the church and you are talking

about stealing.

Are that thiefs in the church? Yes? Are that thieves

in the church?

Yes?

If there were no thieves in the church, all of

us would have been very verifying these days. Even when

you're praying, you have to be careful. Lock your bag,

lift up, holy hands, your phone is gone. That is

why we have cameras in the church.

Now.

Some of it is to protect us against the outsiders,

but we have had people from inside carrying it out.

Anybody who was an annointed for stealing. We cast out

that demon in the name of Jesus. It begins from

the early days. You start that still in pencil. There

you are still in pain. Then you began slam books.

Then you start that's still in meet from the steel.

Then you start that stealing your man, that's melt from

the fridge. You look here, look your drinks more. And

then it was growing. Then by the time you read

the office, you start change. You see, yes, you come

into the church and you start collecting our instrument. We

have caught people from the church carrying church instruments away

and we arrested them now, but we didn't take them

through delivery, and we handed them over to the police.

We have caught people stealing money on the altar. They

come and kneel down a simply are coming to pray,

and they collect envelopes.

What is wrong with you? The Mamo said, stops stealing.

I'm not going to go into the psychological emotional and

oh no, no, no, it stopped stopped stealing. Exodus, after twenty

verse fifteen, God told Israel, dou shall not steal. Simple

one of the shortest commandments, that shall not steal.

You shall not steal. Don't steal anything. I said, what

don't steal?

What?

Amen, don't steal somebody. I was telling them in the

first time about my nephew. He stole out of anger

because when he came to the school. The first time

he came, he came to spend some time with us

in Tema, and then they took him to a new school.

And then when he got there, within the first week,

they welcomed him by stealing his pen.

He said, sir, this time, my people, they don't know me.

Eh. The next day he came with about forty pence's

stole the pans of everybody in their class to punish

them for stealing his pain.

Don't bring your bad behavior into the church. You see.

He was operating in anger. That's what the Bible said.

Be careful about anger. You know some four in verse

four it's that you can be angry, But the same

thing that don't sin is that in your Bible it

is that meditates within your heart or even on your bed,

and be stealed.

Sometime to seven.

Verse eight, he said, seize from anger and forsake rap

Amen Baba said, be quick to he has slow to speak,

slow to get angry James after word verse nineteen. Why

verse twenty because the anger of man does not work

the righteousness of God. This guy was stealing because of anger,

and that many people are stealing because they are angry

with the system. As a matter of us, somebody walked

to my office one day and he said, I'm working

very hard, but they're not paying me well.

And that is why some people are stealing in the office.

And sometimes I'm also tempted to say, hey, don't steal

because you are angry.

Will God help us?

It says, stop stealing, But you see what he said,

Rather work hard that you will get enough to supply

those to help those. Why I need instead of stealing,

work hard? Is that in your Bible? Work hard? New

Living Translation, verse twenty eight. If you are a thief,

quit stealing. Simple straight to the point, ask somebody beside you?

Am I safe around you? Are my property is safe

around you?

Them?

Are you a suspect? Can I feel free? Can I

put my things down? Am I safe around you? You know,

when you go to Malachi chapter three and miss eight,

God said, would a man rob God?

You've robbed human beings?

Uh? You have been taking it to God? And they

had that'sity to ask him, how have we robbed you?

He said, you have robbed me in tithe and in offering.

Don't eat God's tithe. Don't eat God's offering. And some

people they have stolen both the tithes and the offering.

I have seen people in this church. Your parents give

you money for offering that you go and buy keep

up your bad fact, I give you money or oftening.

You're going by shawa man. I used to walk around

to his service, and I see children eating. Keep Bab said,

he go to church and they take their balance after

they are eating. Shallama tophy and you're gonna give the

rest to God.

May God deliver us. Let him that stall still normal.

Sometimes. The reason why we still is convectionous nest. Everything

you see, you want it, doesn't belong to you, but

you want it. Today made that conventional spirit be arrested.

I said, what made that convention? Your spirit be arrested?

When God told them in extrast twenty fifteen, that's a

anything that belongs to your neighbor, your wife, their neighbor.

Don't covet. Don't convert anything that belongs to your to

your neighbor. You come to Hebrews up the thirteen verse five,

it said, again, don't convert.

Is that in your Bible?

It said, let your conduct be without what convects yours.

Then and be content with what you have. A young

man in one of our schools, I don't want to

Let no corrupt communication come out of your mouth. Make

sure your words adify, don't talk by heart. Control your words,

Don't talk by heart that it comes to as thirty.

Don't grieve the Holy Spirit, don't make the Holy Spirit sat,

don't break his heart.

He's our seal against redemption. Against the day of redemption

is our level, our branding. It's a Holy Spirit that

makes everybody and the angels know that we.

Are God's children.

The same way you see a Messitis Benz brand and

you know you see a BMW brand, and you know

unless you bring it from China where they're write anything

for things that don't belong to When you buy the

thing and say what should we write? If you write

one Benz, whill write bens God forbid. May you have

the true identity of the Holy Ghost.

Don't grieve him, don't make sad, don't breash his heart

because he is our seal.

Don't do things that provokes God. The Holy Spirit is here.

You know, when you know who the Holy Spirit is,

you don't want to make him sad. He's our comforter,

he's our strengthener, he's our helper, he's our go between,

he's our guide, he's our teacher.

The Holy Spirit is here to help us when you

grieve him.

The Holy Spirit is such a gentleman that when he's

going here will tell you when as something. He shook

himself as other days, thinking that God was still with him,

But the Bible said he did not know that the

Spirit of God had left him.

May you not lose the glory.

That's what David said, Oh God, no matter what I

do wrong, Father, don't take the Holy Spirit from me.

I need the Holy Spirit. Don't grieve him. And look,

he began to list the things that grieve the Holy Spirit.

Thirty one take away, get rid of bitterness? Is that

in your Bible? Get rid of what bitterness?

Rough? Is he coming again?

And clamor evil speaking? Let them be far away from you.

And I said, get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, browling, slander,

along with every form of malice.

And I like to amplify that verse for you for

a good reason. Is that that's what thirty one.

Let all bitterness and indignation and wrath, the passion, and

then the rage and bad temper.

A come a pony, Take it away.

Bitterness, indignation, rage, resentment, anger, animosity, quarreling, browling, clamor contention,

flander evils, speaking abusive or blasphemous language. Let it be

banished from you, with all manage, with all spiked ill

will and baseness of any kind. Take it away, Take

it away. There's too bad wickedness around bitterness. We can't

forgive bitterness, and unforgiveness is like drinking medicine and expecting

somebody else to die. Bitterness can destroy you. Bitterness can

mess up your own system. Having to realize that when

you are so angry and you see the person you

are angry with, something happens in your stomach, and you

know the funny thing, Sometimes they don't know. The person

doesn't even know it, doesn't know working for you. And

sometimes they even become and greet you. And then when

they greet you, they I know you no more. When

they smile at you, they provoke you the more. Look

at this, Look at this guy, he's still coming to

greet me.

He doesn't know.

Sometimes they haven't even apologized and said sorry, so the

thing is over. They don't know. You still have them.

Some of you you are a oh human being in

your heart. Some of you you have ten of them.

Some of you, fifteen people are in your hearts, so

the Holy Spirit doesn't have anywhere to twelve. Your heart

is full full of people, and every day you bring

them out and pinch them and put them back. I'll

finish them. May God help us to release. You're better,

and the betterness is poisoning you.

Put it away.

Put away the wrath, put away the prowling, quarreling, spapirits.

Everywhere you go, you quarrel. Even in the church. You

quarrel every department they put in your quarrel. When there

is peace, you don't like it. Peace is a blame

for you. When the place is two peacefuls, or you

want accent, something must go wrong.

They said that some people. You know. There's a video

that goes around. I don't have.

I didn't remember. I played it for you. A woman

looked at the hum and said, why are you so nice?

He said, oh, what is it? He said, give me

your phone. She gave him the He gave her the phone.

Is that? Give me your password? He gave her the password.

He said, isn't there any woman on the no scroll?

That's nothing? Don't you in the nked n care wroom?

I said no. He said, why don't you have naked

He said, why he is so boring? I want to quarrel.

I want to quarrel. Why is there nothing to quirel

And you think, and I'm telling you really, I've met

people who say this man is too nice. What Christian brother,

he's a holy brother, he's a virgine. I want a

bad boy, and they are suffering for it. Stop quarreling,

Stop quarreling. Hallelujah, Follow peace with all men. Follow peace,

Amen with all men. Put away all the younger, put away,

all the browling, put away all the fight. It's not necessary.

But rather, I said, forgive thirty two. I'm just running

through it. He said, if you have any problem, forgive, forgive.

To forgive is divine. Forgive. God has forgiven you so

much height. And then he said, forgive, as God for

Christ's sake has forgiven you. Let go. When you let go,

it is for your own benefits. When you let go,

it is for your own honor. When you let go,

it's for your own healing. May God help us never

to grieve the Holy Spirit, but may He help us

to live right, to honor God in our relationships, and

to honor God in.

All our actions.

I wanted to pray briefly for yourself. You've had a lot.

It's just an abridge mention. I guess run through it.

I don't know what.

Touches your heart.

But if you are guilty of any aspects of what

Paul spoke to the efficients about the people of Ephesus,

you want to say, God, forgive me. I have a

problem with unforgiveness. I have a problem with anger. I

have a problem with bitterness and rage. I have a

quarreling spirit. I have a hot temper. Okayucier, beguccier.

Not my heart.

And I tell you my family we are like that.

We don't forgive. You belong to a new family. Now,

learn to forgive. If you're holding people in your heart

who offended you many years ago, today I want to say,

God help me, I choose to release them. I'm very

intentional and deliberate about this. Decision. I want to let

them go. I want to forgive because you have forgiven me.

You want to pray briefly, just pray for yourself. Quickly

pray for yourself. Pray for yourself. I don't want to

grieve your holy spirit. I don't want to make you

and I don't want to make you sad. I don't

want to break your heart. I want to live for you.

And whilst we're all praying in this mood, if you're

in this service that you don't know Jesus, you're not

born again. You have not started at all. We need

the help of God to live a life that pleases God.

The Bible said, if they're righteouscarcely be saved. Where will

there are righteous be so? If those who are called

by the name of the Lord are struggling, then you

who don't have the Lord in your heart, it is

virtually impossible for you to do right. Wherever you answer,

I want to give my life to Jesus. If you

lift up your right and quickly will pray with you.

Anybody here, I want to give my life to Jesus.

I want to start properly. I want God to help me.

I want God to make a way from me. I

want God to take me out of the old pattern

of life and bring me to the new party. Your

hon is a Please count, please count, Please come for it.

Please come. Anybody else, please come. There's nothing to be

ashamed of. It's an opportunity for you to start right,

to start right. If you have to come, please come.

If you must come, please come. There's nothing to be

ashamed of. If you must come, please come. We all

have to start at the point. Don't let your shyness

of human beings prevent you from a decision that would
