December 9 - Philippians 4:6-7

Peace, that surpasses all understanding. Well, peace in and of itself is kind of hard to understand, but when you have it, you know it. But obviously a piece that surpasses all understanding. It's very difficult to put into words. But it's also difficult to also understand how in our scripture today, it says be anxious for nothing. Where I don't know about you, but it's impossible for me to stop my fears sometimes, my doubts, my uncertainties, but the scripture says be anxious for nothing. And I think it knows how we're supposed to handle that by saying, by prayers and petitions with Thanksgiving, make all your requests known to God. Which to me means don't let your anxiety overwhelm you. You might be anxious, you might be fearful, you might have doubts, but don't let them overwhelm you. Take all your requests, all your prayers to the throne of love and grace and mercy with thanksgiving, and let God know what's on your heart. And what you get in return will be incredible. You'll get that peace that surpasses all understanding. And not only that, but it goes on to say, He will guard your heart, and your mind with the presence of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. To me, that's saying when things happen again, when those fiery arrows get shot your way. Your heart and your mind will be protected. And I don't know, I've heard it argued that sometimes it's desires of your heart that go into your mind that you pursue, I've heard other times, it's things that happen in your mind that could filter through your heart, and then you decipher, but either way, it doesn't matter, because the scripture verse says that God will protect your heart and your mind with the presence of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. So don't let anxiety overwhelm you. Make all your requests known to God, who's eager and waiting to listen. And do it with Thanksgiving. And then reap the benefits of a piece that surpasses all understanding. And a protection on your heart and your mind through our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
