  1. Good morning, folks. Good to see you.

  2. Yeah. And welcome, welcome again

  3. today. And over the next couple of

  4. weeks, we're going to do some practical things, kind of just

  5. learning how to do some stuff that maybe some of us have done

  6. before. Maybe some of us a bit like, oh,

  7. it's a bit new to me. We're going to do.

  8. Yeah, get practical. So that's what we're doing.

  9. Does that all sound a bit intriguing?

  10. Sorry. OK, I'll let you in.

  11. Yeah, it will become clear as the as you go along.

  12. If you've got a Bible, can you turn to Matthew chapter 10?

    Matthew 10 chapter mention

  13. We're going to look at verse one and then verse 7 to 8, because

  14. we're going to be, as we get practical, we're going to be

  15. learning from Jesus and practice doing some of the things that he

  16. did. OK, so Matthew chapter 10, we're

    Matthew 10 chapter mention

  17. going to read verse one, worst first one and then verses 7 to

  18. 8. So Jesus sends out the 12

  19. disciples and if we follow Jesus, he gives us the same

  20. mandate that he gave to them. And this is what it says.

  21. Jesus called his 12 disciples to him and gave them authority to

  22. drive out in pure spirits and to heal every disease and sickness.

  23. As you go, proclaim this message.

  24. He said the Kingdom of heaven has come near.

  25. Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who's those who

  26. have leprosy, drive out demons freely you have received, freely

  27. give. So God is in this business of

  28. restoration, of making all things new, restoring things and

  29. people, of healing brokenness and bringing beauty all around.

  30. And He invites us to join in with what he's doing.

  31. And we see this restoration in part now.

  32. And we eagerly await the day when Jesus will return again and

  33. everything will be restored to the fullness of beauty that God

  34. always intended. We've got all that to come.

  35. Like I'm so looking forward to that day.

  36. Like I'm so fed up with looking at the news headlines and seeing

  37. the brokenness in our world. I'm so looking forward to the

  38. day when everything is restored. But we've got all that to come.

  39. But just like the disciples, Jesus invites us to get in on

  40. his mission now. And we have this saying in the

  41. Vineyard Church, which is everyone gets to play.

  42. I don't know if you've heard that before, but if you follow

  43. Jesus, you get to be a part of what he's up to.

  44. So whether you're a day into knowing him or whether you've

  45. been following him for years, you're invited into this thing

  46. that God does, and we all are. And he wants us to partner with

  47. him to do what Jesus did, not out of our own strength, but

  48. filled with the Holy Spirit, empowered by the Spirit of God.

  49. So this morning we're going to be learning about praying for

  50. healing. So I'm going to talk for a bit,

  51. and then we're going to pray for each other.

  52. And if you're here and you're listening to this and you don't

  53. know Jesus, I would still say stay tuned in because this might

  54. be a really good way for you to meet him.

  55. So before we start, I just want to say a few things.

  56. I feel so teachery with these glasses, like half down over my

  57. nose or like a librarian. But I'm really at that stage

  58. where I have to do that thing. So forgive me if you feel like

  59. you're in a library, OK? We want to do God stuff, but we

  60. don't want to do it in a weird way, OK?

  61. You might have heard us use the phrase before being naturally

  62. supernatural. So still being us, but listening

  63. to what God is doing and through his Holy Spirit, kind of just

  64. just things happening. Yeah.

  65. So some of you will know that we have got a wedding coming up in

  66. our family in the next few months.

  67. And I will really try hard whenever I speak up here, not to

  68. bore you with like wedding analogies, but there's just one

  69. I want to bring to your attention this morning.

  70. It's that whole thing about, you know, you have the bride and

  71. groom and they choose people to do special things on the day.

  72. So often they're known as groomsmen.

  73. If the the the groom will be choose the groomsmen, Briar will

  74. choose her kind of special people.

  75. But another word for groomsmen is like ushers.

  76. Have you heard that phrase before about being an usher?

  77. And the idea is that those people welcome people in welcome

  78. people into the building. So I want us to think about that

  79. word. So it's like they say, come,

  80. come, come in, come here's here's your seat.

  81. This seat is for you. And they they're kind of like

  82. saying come and be a part of this thing.

  83. We've reserved this space for you.

  84. Come and experience something of the goodness that is going to

  85. happen in this place. And that's what we do when we're

  86. asking people, you know, can I, can I pray for you?

  87. When we're saying, can I pray for you for healing, whether

  88. that be physical or emotional or like anything coming alongside

  89. someone and saying, can I pray for you?

  90. It's like us ushering them into this space where they might

  91. experience something of the love and the mercy and the healing

  92. and goodness of God. So have that phrase, that image

  93. in your mind of that person inviting people in.

  94. That's what we want to do when we're we're inviting people to

  95. be prayed for. So secondly, just before we

  96. start, we live in a time where we experience both the now and

  97. the not yet of the Kingdom. And what I mean by that is that

  98. we see healing happen, but we also want to be real about it.

  99. There are times when we don't see it happen too.

  100. We don't want to make stuff up. We want to be real about what is

  101. happening in the space in front of us.

  102. So God's Kingdom is here in Jesus, but it's not yet fully

  103. here. We still see and experience his

  104. goodness, but we also still see brokenness and bad stuff in the

  105. world. But we get to partner with God

  106. to push back some of that darkness.

  107. And I want to be someone, and I want us to be a people in this

  108. church who always seek after the Kingdom of God, who always seek

  109. after Jesus. Would you come and rule this

  110. space in this moment with this person?

  111. Would you come do that? And we can be people who seek

  112. that and press into that as we usher people into his presence.

  113. And one way that we get to do that is to offer to pray for

  114. people if they're sick or if they're sad or whatever else is

  115. going on and say, look, can I, can I pray for you?

  116. We're saying we're kind of saying, would you come and

  117. experience something of the goodness of God in this moment?

  118. So this morning we're going to go through a really simple

  119. framework. Some of you will have heard it

  120. before, but it's always good to remind ourselves and it's a

  121. framework that helps us with this praying for people

  122. sometimes. We've referred to it as the five

  123. step model simply because it's got 5 parts to it.

  124. It is not a formula. There is nothing magic or rigid

  125. about it. It's just a framework that helps

  126. to shape how we go about praying for other people.

  127. Whether that be in this building, whether that be in

  128. small group, whether that be at the school gate, on your lunch

  129. break, at work, in Aldi's, in the playground, wherever you

  130. are, you can use this framework. It's a really intentional way of

  131. praying for other people and of listening to the Holy Spirit and

  132. asking God to speak insights to us that will resonate with the

  133. person that we're with. It shows kindness to the person

  134. that we're praying for always. It always shows kindness and it

  135. seeks God's will and God's best for that person.

  136. So whether you've been doing this or your life or whether

  137. you've never ever prayed for someone else before and right

  138. this moment you're thinking, I just want to get out of here.

  139. We're going to have an opportunity to learn and then

  140. practice this morning. And we want to follow Jesus

  141. example. So we're going to be looking at

  142. what Jesus did. So I'm going to talk through

  143. every stage and then we're going to have a go.

  144. OK, so the first stage is simply hello, kicking things off like

  145. you know how how to start? Just like it's naturally

  146. supernatural, like you're just just going to say hello to

  147. someone. Let's have a look at Matthew

    Matthew 20:32

  148. chapter 20, verse 32. So we're going to say hello.

  149. And then the question that we're going to ask is what do you need

  150. Jesus to do for you? That's what this part of that

  151. first stage is say hi, hi, I'm Pip.

  152. You know, what do you need Jesus to do for you?

  153. So turn to Matthew 20. We're going to read from verse

  154. 29 to 34 because Jesus does this, it says this.

  155. As Jesus and his disciples were leaving Jericho, a large crowd

  156. followed him. Two blind men were sitting by

  157. the roadside, and when they heard that Jesus was going by,

  158. they shouted, Lord son of David, have mercy on us.

  159. The crowd rebuked them and told them to be quiet, but they

  160. shouted all the louder. Lord, son of David, have mercy

  161. on us. Jesus stopped and called them.

  162. What do you want me to do for you?

  163. He asked. Lord, they answered, We want our

  164. sight. Jesus had compassion on them and

  165. touched their eyes and immediately they received their

  166. sight and followed him. So you introduce yourself, you

  167. ask the person's name and you remember it.

  168. And then you're kind of then saying, what do you want Jesus

  169. to do for you? You're asked what, what is the,

  170. what is the thing? What, what, what is it you want

  171. him to do for you? Can I pray for you?

  172. You know, we might say something like in our church, if someone's

  173. I'll, we ask if we can pray for them.

  174. Would that be OK if I prayed for you?

  175. What do you want or need Jesus to do for you?

  176. And in this moment, we're not kind of going into like a big

  177. medical interview. We don't want loads of detail.

  178. We're going to keep it simple. It's basically we're just

  179. saying, where does it hurt? Where does it hurt them in it?

  180. And it might be that you've had a conversation with someone and

  181. they've been like, you know, they've just told you about how

  182. they're doing. It's in that moment you pick up,

  183. oh, OK, you got a stinking headache or, you know, oh,

  184. you've broken your leg. And oh, you're feeling really

  185. anxious about something. And it's in those moments you're

  186. like, OK, Lord, what what are you doing here?

  187. And you, you kind of offer that. Can I pray for you?

  188. And as you enter into that space with that person kind of asking

  189. that question, then you're then just having this conversation

  190. quietly with God of kind of like God, what you doing here?

  191. And it might be that he gives you words or impressions, like a

  192. picture in your mind's eye that helps to kind of pinpoint

  193. something that might be going on with that person.

  194. And then you just offer that, OK, so it's this, it's this

  195. interaction between you and God, you and the Holy Spirit as

  196. you're talking to this person, nothing looks fancy or weird.

  197. You're still being you and they're still being them, but

  198. you're just interacting with them in this moment.

  199. So that's the the first stage. OK, second stage.

  200. So based on that little, little interview, if you like that

  201. first bit, you're then thinking as you're going along, how

  202. should I pray? What what is going on here?

  203. Let's look at Mark Chapter 7 and verse 32 because a number of

    Mark 7 chapter mention

  204. things can be going on for people.

  205. Mark 7 verse 32, some people brought him that Jesus brought

    Mark 7:32

  206. to him a man who was deaf and could hardly talk, and they

  207. begged Jesus to place his hand on him.

  208. After he took him aside away from a crowd, Jesus put his

  209. fingers into the man's ears. I love this like how Jesus takes

  210. him aside because he still wants dignity for this person.

  211. He doesn't want this thing to become a spectacle.

  212. It's not about causing a scene. It's just Jesus and this moment

  213. with this man. And then Jesus spit and touched

  214. the man's tongue. OK, not, not let's, let's just

  215. not go for the whole spitting thing.

  216. I'm using this as an example. He looked up to heaven and with

  217. a deep sigh said to him, F Fathah, which means be opened.

  218. And at this, the man's ears were opened, his tongue was loosened,

  219. and he began to speak plainly. So the second part of this

  220. framework, we're asking God, like this person said, this is

  221. where it hurts. And we're kind of working with

  222. God and listing like what is going on here?

  223. Maybe there is physical healing, You know, we that's needed.

  224. We live in a fallen world that is subject to decay.

  225. Our bodies are subject to wear and tear.

  226. We have accidents, all those things.

  227. But sometimes it's not physical or not just physical healing

  228. that's needed. So we're listening to the Holy

  229. Spirit. What does he want us to do?

  230. Is it to do with this person's head?

  231. Is it to do with their heart? Is it to do with their body?

  232. What's going on? And bear in mind that people

  233. might say one thing and there might also be something going on

  234. and something else going on too. So while we're thinking, how

  235. should I pray? We're thinking, why?

  236. Why does a person have this condition?

  237. You know, maybe they just stubbed their toe and it's like

  238. they had an accident and you're going to pray for that toe.

  239. Maybe there's an emotional 'cause sometimes we can carry

  240. emotional pain with us that literally hurts our bodies and

  241. our minds. It might come from unforgiveness

  242. or bitterness, anxiety or stress or fear or things that have

  243. happened in the person's past and that person needs to

  244. experience some healing or peace around that.

  245. So there might be physical healing, there might be

  246. emotional healing that's needed. It might be a a spiritual cause.

  247. Turn with me to Matthew Chapter 9.

    Matthew 9 chapter mention

  248. We're going to be whizzing in and out.

  249. OK this morning of different verses.

  250. Then Matthew Chapter 9, verse 1 to 8.

    Matthew 9:1–8

  251. Jesus sees what the man needs in this moment.

  252. So Jesus stepped into a boat. He crossed over and came to his

  253. own town. Some men brought to him a

  254. paralyzed man lying on a mat. And when Jesus saw their faith,

  255. he said to the man, take heart son, your sins are forgiven.

  256. So what everyone else sees is this paralyzed man.

  257. What Jesus sees that this man needs to hear in this moment is

  258. your sins are forgiven. And at this some of the

  259. teachers, the law said to themselves, this fellow is

  260. blaspheming. Knowing their thoughts, Jesus

  261. said, why do you entertain evil thoughts in your hearts, which

  262. is easy to say your sins are forgiven or to say get up and

  263. walk. But I want you to know that the

  264. Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins.

  265. So he said to the paralyzed man, get up, take your mat and go

  266. home. Then the man got up and went

  267. home. When the crowd saw this, they

  268. were filled with ore, and they praised God who had given such

  269. authority to him. In this situation.

  270. There's the spiritual thing going on as well as the

  271. physical. Jesus knows what the man first

  272. needs to hear is that his sins are forgiven.

  273. There's a whole other context going on of like what the other

  274. people are believing and thinking at that point and what

  275. Jesus is kind of modelling to them too.

  276. But people can be out of place with God.

  277. There might be sin or pride in the mix.

  278. It might be that they need to confess something and turn to

  279. God. There's also maybe there's a

  280. demonic stuff that's going on. Turn to Luke chapter 13 verses

    Luke 13:10–13

  281. 10 to 13 on a Sabbath. Jesus was teaching in one of the

  282. synagogues and a woman was there who had been crippled by a

  283. spirit for 18 years. She was bent over and couldn't

  284. straighten up at all. When Jesus saw her, he called

  285. her forward and said to her, Woman, you are set free from

  286. your infirmity. And then he put his hands on her

  287. and immediately she straightened up and praised God.

  288. When someone is oppressed by demonic power, what the person

  289. needs to experience is freedom. That's what they need to

  290. experience. And maybe they need to confess

  291. some stuff about what they've been involved in.

  292. Or maybe it's just a case of commanding the demons ago.

  293. There are lots of examples of this in the Bible with what

  294. Jesus does. But we always, always want to

  295. create space that is safe, that is confidential, and that shows

  296. mercy and dignity. That's what Jesus did.

  297. If you, if you look through the New Testament and you look at

  298. Jesus's interactions with people, it was always, those

  299. things were characterized in his interactions with people, always

  300. about mercy, always about dignity, always like a safety

  301. around it and confidentiality. OK, so we've done number one #2

  302. OK, on to #3 So we've done the hello, hello.

  303. Where does it hurt? We've done the law.

  304. What you're doing here. How am I going to pray?

  305. Now we're on to the third bit, which is actually doing the

  306. praying bit. OK?

  307. So if we are teaching this in kids, because we do the same

  308. here as we do in kids and that youth do, we say to people often

  309. will say, if you if you don't know how to start 3 words that

  310. you could say the three words of this calm Holy Spirit because we

  311. are not doing any of this of our own accord.

  312. We're asking the Holy Spirit to do what Jesus wants to do in

  313. this moment. So, so we say, come Holy Spirit,

  314. and we would encourage you to lay your hands on where it

  315. hurts. Jesus did this.

  316. We've already read some of those examples where it says Jesus

  317. laid his hands on. So we lay our hands on where it

  318. hurts. And because we want to be wise

  319. and because we want to be sensible, we will often say guys

  320. with guys, girls with girls, you know, in mixed pairs, if you if

  321. you're if there's someone there of the opposite sex, then you're

  322. you're going to do that with with someone else, like a mixed

  323. couple with them. Does that make sense?

  324. OK, So we're being appropriate. OK, And if someone's hurt their

  325. knee, we might say, can I pray? Can I pray for your knee?

  326. Can I put, can I put my hand on your knee?

  327. If it's, you know, they're back, put your hand on their back.

  328. But you're asking permission and you're being appropriate.

  329. If it's if it's not a place that's appropriate to put your

  330. hands, don't put your hands there.

  331. OK. And then you're going to wait.

  332. So you said, come, Holy Spirit, Jesus, would you come in this

  333. moment and then you're going to wait and watch, keep your eyes

  334. open to see what you can see going on.

  335. And you're listening all the time.

  336. The apostles did this. You can see the disciples doing

  337. this. If you want to turn to Acts

    Acts 3 chapter mention

  338. chapter 3 verses 4:00 to 8:00, we'll have a little look at

  339. something that happened with Peter and John.

  340. So Peter's walking past someone and he sees someone there.

  341. Peter looked straight at him as did John.

  342. And then Peter said, look at us. So the man gave him his them his

  343. attention, expecting to get something from them.

  344. And then Peter said, silver or gold.

  345. I don't have what I do have. I give you and in the name of

  346. Jesus Christ of Nazareth walk. So he speaks to this paralyzed

  347. man and he says, get up and walk.

  348. And taking him by the right hand, he helped him up and

  349. instantly the man's feet and ankles became strong.

  350. He jumped to his feet and began to walk.

  351. And then he went with them into the temple courts, walking and

  352. jumping and praising God. Peter and John were looking OK

  353. looking at this person. When we pray, we want to look at

  354. the person that we're praying for because it gives us clues as

  355. to what Jesus is doing in that moment.

  356. So keep it simple. Use normal words, use your

  357. normal voice, use normal volume. We don't want to hype anything

  358. up. We want to be naturally

  359. supernatural, just us inviting God into this space.

  360. And just like Jesus did, we've already read, I think one of the

  361. first examples we read this morning, Jesus says be opened to

  362. the man's ears. So we speak to the pain or the

  363. condition that we see before us. It might be that we say

  364. something like ears be opened or headache go, or stress in

  365. shoulders be relieved or fractures mend.

  366. You know, we keep it simple. Normal, normal vocabulary,

  367. normal voice, normal volume, speak to the condition, speak to

  368. the pain and tell it to go. And then as you're doing this,

  369. there's the whole thing of like, what do you see?

  370. Because sometimes when people encounter the power and the

  371. presence of God, sometimes we see stuff happen on them and in

  372. them and with them. Other times you might see

  373. nothing at all. And that doesn't mean that God

  374. is not doing something. But some of the things you might

  375. see, you might see just a flush on people's face, like almost

  376. like a, it feels like an, almost like a redness or a you might

  377. see the eyelids fluttering. You might see some of their

  378. bodies shaking. You might see crying, which can

  379. often be a release of pain. You might see laughing, which

  380. can be like joy. You might just see this peace on

  381. people. And like I said before, you

  382. might see nothing at all. And it doesn't mean that God's

  383. not doing anything. The outward sides are not

  384. important in themselves. What is important is what God is

  385. doing in that person. But we don't hype anything up.

  386. We just want to respond to what God is doing in that time.

  387. And sometimes as we pray, we can see that something is

  388. intensifying. And if that happens, then we

  389. would encourage you to press into what God is doing.

  390. It might be that you say, Holy Spirit, would you do more of

  391. what you're doing here or thank you for what you're doing?

  392. Could you keep doing it? He knows what's going on.

  393. Bless what he's doing, Thank him.

  394. So another thing that we can do, especially as we're learning

  395. this is that we can come alongside someone else who is

  396. already praying for someone. We'd be like, do you mind if I

  397. can, I, can I come too? Can I just come and watch?

  398. And you can just watch. You don't even have to say

  399. anything or you can kind of join in.

  400. So we watch, we learn. And we would say that in, in

  401. this church, often we say, if you're in a small group, would

  402. you come and pray? And that's often because in

  403. small groups, we've been practicing, do some of this

  404. stuff. I've been trying to learn how to

  405. do it. OK, so we've had the first

  406. hello, where does it hurt? We've had the second, what's

  407. going on here? And then we've had the third

  408. actual praying. And then the 4th part is

  409. checking in with the person, like how you doing, what's going

  410. on? So you might just want to ask

  411. what's happening? You're not going to interrupt

  412. what God is doing. Let's see an example when Jesus

  413. does this. So if you turn to Mark chapter

    Mark 8 chapter mention

  414. 8, we're going to look at verses starting at verse 22 and going

  415. through to 25. They came to Bethsaida and some

  416. people brought a blind man and begged Jesus to touch him.

  417. He took the blind man and LED him outside the village.

  418. And when he had spit on the man's eyes and put his hands on

  419. him, Jesus asked, do you see anything?

  420. He's checking in, what's happening?

  421. He looked up and said, I see people, they look like trees

  422. walking around. So maybe his vision is starting

  423. to come back, but still looking a bit blurry, don't quite look

  424. like people yet. Once more Jesus put his hands on

  425. the man's eyes and then his eyes were opened and his sight was

  426. restored and he saw everything clearly.

  427. So this 4th part is that checking in, how you doing?

  428. What's going on? And at the same time you're

  429. looking, what do you see going on?

  430. You might say to the person you're feeling anything

  431. different in your body? Do you notice anything

  432. different? Is Jesus saying anything to you?

  433. Are you able to do anything that you couldn't do before?

  434. Almost to kind of measure if there has been any healing?

  435. It might be that right back at the start when you said where

  436. does it hurt? It's like, oh, my back's

  437. excruciating. Like on a scale of like 1 to 10

  438. pain, what do you reckon that is?

  439. Oh yeah, it's an 8. It's really, really bad.

  440. And at this check in point, it might be you go back to that.

  441. So what, what does it feel like now?

  442. Oh, it's still an 8 or oh, it's a four, It's a 2.

  443. So you, that kind of measuring is another thing that you can do

  444. at this point. So all the time you're

  445. continuing to listen to the Holy Spirit and you're taking some

  446. time with people. Jesus did that.

  447. He he took time with people, didn't rush off on his way if he

  448. was present with the people that he was with.

  449. And then we would just say at this point, stop when you think

  450. it's all over or stop when you've run out of things to pray

  451. or stop when the person who you're praying for thinks it's

  452. all over. Like I'm done.

  453. OK, we're not going to push past that.

  454. We're just going to respect what what those what people say and

  455. stop when you think it's going OK.

  456. We're being natural, supernatural.

  457. We're not going to try and force something.

  458. It's all about OK God, what you're doing here.

  459. If you're still doing stuff here and this person still wants us

  460. to pray, then we'll carry on. Otherwise we'll stop. 5th part

  461. finishing. Well, how do I finish doing

  462. this? Thank God for his presence.

  463. Maybe you might want to encourage the person you're

  464. praying for to press into something in their life going

  465. forwards. Maybe it's like, do you know, if

  466. you, you know, maybe you could read the read this bit in the

  467. Bible. Maybe you could connect with us

  468. in church. Can't keep coming to church,

  469. keep getting plugged in, keep, you know, keep keep worshipping.

  470. Maybe it's like, why don't you? You might want to follow Jesus.

  471. If the person has been healed or the condition has improved,

  472. advise them to go check it out with the doctor.

  473. Never tell people to stop taking their medication.

  474. If they're on medication, encourage.

  475. Maybe you might want to encourage the person to follow

  476. Jesus if they're not healed because we live in the now and

  477. not yet of the Kingdom. Reaffirm that God loves them.

  478. You might want to say, why don't, why don't you come back?

  479. We'll pray again next week. Don't say what you haven't seen.

  480. Don't make excuses for the person or for God.

  481. Don't blame anybody for a lack of faith.

  482. Encourage people to look to Jesus.

  483. We want people to feel cared for and loved, whether they've

  484. experienced healing or not. So they're the five stages, the

  485. beginning. Where does it hurt?

  486. Can I pray for you? Second, what's going on?

  487. How do I need to pray? Third, actually the praying. 4th

  488. bit checking in, how's it going? What's going on?

  489. 5th bit ending well. OK, Just a couple of things to

  490. remember. Must be aware that as we're

  491. doing this, you know, there might be spiritual conflict

  492. before that, during it, after it, and it might you want to get

  493. prayer yourself. And I would just say grow.

  494. We want to be people who grow in doing this, who practice this

  495. and learn how to do this. And one of the ways that we can

  496. do that is to decide to pray for someone who's sick, John Wimber,

  497. who started the Vineyard movement years ago.

  498. And there's a story that he told where, you know, he taught about

  499. the healing model, and then someone that was listening to it

  500. went away and prayed for someone.

  501. And then they came back to him. And they were just like, it

  502. doesn't work, It didn't work. And John Wimber said to him,

  503. when you pray for 1000 people, they can come back.

  504. So this is encouragement for us to just keep on doing this to

  505. decide to pray for people to decide when when someone says

  506. something, we but we use it as an opportunity to usher them in

  507. into the presence of God. Pray alongside other people.

  508. Get help when you need help. And there is actually for the

  509. month of January that the Vineyard theology, Vineyard

  510. Theology are doing a module on healing and it's being offered

  511. for free. So you can sign up for free for

  512. that if you want want to learn more about it.

  513. And that's free for the month of January.

  514. If you want to find out how to do that, come and find me

  515. afterwards. So this week, I want to

  516. encourage you to keep your eyes open, keep your ears open.

  517. And if someone is sick or worried or anxious, invite them

  518. in to do this, ushering in can I pray for you?

  519. Would you mind if I pray for you?

  520. If they say no, that's completely fine, but ask that

  521. question and then see where that might go.

  522. And it wouldn't be great. It would be great if we had some

  523. stories in the next few weeks of like, oh, do you know what?

  524. I did this and this happened or I had a go and they weren't

  525. healed. But I'm so glad I had a go.

  526. So going to get practical this morning.

  527. Is there anyone here who he's not well or has got any aches

  528. and pains this morning? I know there are some people

  529. because you've already had that conversation.

  530. Can I? Yeah.

  531. Excellent. OK, Fran.

  532. OK. Anyone else?

  533. Aches, pains. Loretta, something going on just

  534. like emotionally, like stress, anxiety.

  535. Anything else going on? OK, 123.

  536. Anyone else? 4-5 Excellent.

  537. OK, brilliant. OK, Let's just pray before we

  538. start. Cherie.

  539. Jesus, would you come in this moment?

  540. Would you teach us? Would you show us what to do?

  541. May we, may we learn from you in this moment.

  542. We're we're listening to you. Amen.

  543. OK, So if you're one of those people, if you've got aches or

  544. pains or whatever, why don't you just stand up?

  545. I'm not going to ask you to come down the front.

  546. Just stand up where you are. Frown.

  547. Is it tricky for you to stand up?

  548. You stay sitting down if you need to.

  549. Yeah. OK.

  550. If you're near any of these people, why don't you just

  551. gather around them, OK. And we're going to, we're going

  552. to go through the stages. I'm going to talk to you through

  553. it and we're going to do it. OK, so even if you've not done

  554. it before, Becker and Elizabeth go I'm I'm go go stand next to

  555. these guys here. Oh, was it was it 1 of you 2?

  556. No. Oh, you.

  557. Yes. Yeah.

  558. OK. OK.

  559. Great. Recker Elizabeth, go stand next

  560. near Nathan. Essie, you're going to need to

  561. move to be near Sarah. I mean, in front of you here.

  562. Yeah, with Jeremy. Excellent.

  563. Because of people near. Oh, OK.

  564. Has everyone who stood up got someone near them?

  565. Excellent, great, great. And James, are you tagging in on

  566. there? Brilliant, wonderful.

  567. OK, excellent. So, OK, let's go for the first

  568. bit then. So hello.

  569. Where does it hurt? That's kind of what you're going

  570. to say. OK, how we doing?

  571. You're kind of not full on medical interview.

  572. Have you found out where it hurts?

  573. Kind of how it long long it's been going on for maybe how it

  574. started. You've come in.

  575. OK, if any of you are not well, then we're going to pray for you

  576. for healing. If you're all fine and dandy,

  577. then go for joining with someone else who's who's, who needs some

  578. prayer youth coming in. OK, listen, this is the this is

  579. the thing this morning. We're praying for healing.

  580. So if any of you are not well, then we're going to pray for

  581. you. If you are all fine and dandy,

  582. go stand near someone who who needs some prayer.

  583. So people who are standing up, who are, are people who need

  584. some prayer, go prayer. OK, so you found out.

  585. Brilliant, now I should. So you're going to say you're,

  586. you're now kind of trying to think about what is going on for

  587. that person. So you're thinking, OK, is it a

  588. physical thing? Is it maybe something going on

  589. with their heart or their heads? That's what you're trying to

  590. ascertain as you're doing this. We've moved into the second

  591. part. Why is this person kind of got

  592. this thing happening? And if you've kind of done one

  593. and two, sometimes you do those together.

  594. Move on to #3 start praying. If you don't know how else to

  595. start, say come Holy Spirit, keep your eyes open.

  596. If you're around the back of someone, you might not be able

  597. to see them. I would suggest you around the

  598. front so you can see what might be going on.

  599. If you're the person being prayed for, you might feel a bit

  600. weird, so we'd encourage you to close your eyes.

  601. But the person, if you're praying, keep your eyes open and

  602. look and see what might be going on.
