Good morning, folks. Good to see you.
-
Yeah. And welcome, welcome again
-
today. And over the next couple of
-
weeks, we're going to do some practical things, kind of just
-
learning how to do some stuff that maybe some of us have done
-
before. Maybe some of us a bit like, oh,
-
it's a bit new to me. We're going to do.
-
Yeah, get practical. So that's what we're doing.
-
Does that all sound a bit intriguing?
-
Sorry. OK, I'll let you in.
-
Yeah, it will become clear as the as you go along.
-
If you've got a Bible, can you turn to Matthew chapter 10?
Matthew 10 chapter mention
-
We're going to look at verse one and then verse 7 to 8, because
-
we're going to be, as we get practical, we're going to be
-
learning from Jesus and practice doing some of the things that he
-
did. OK, so Matthew chapter 10, we're
Matthew 10 chapter mention
-
going to read verse one, worst first one and then verses 7 to
-
8. So Jesus sends out the 12
-
disciples and if we follow Jesus, he gives us the same
-
mandate that he gave to them. And this is what it says.
-
Jesus called his 12 disciples to him and gave them authority to
-
drive out in pure spirits and to heal every disease and sickness.
-
As you go, proclaim this message.
-
He said the Kingdom of heaven has come near.
-
Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who's those who
-
have leprosy, drive out demons freely you have received, freely
-
give. So God is in this business of
-
restoration, of making all things new, restoring things and
-
people, of healing brokenness and bringing beauty all around.
-
And He invites us to join in with what he's doing.
-
And we see this restoration in part now.
-
And we eagerly await the day when Jesus will return again and
-
everything will be restored to the fullness of beauty that God
-
always intended. We've got all that to come.
-
Like I'm so looking forward to that day.
-
Like I'm so fed up with looking at the news headlines and seeing
-
the brokenness in our world. I'm so looking forward to the
-
day when everything is restored. But we've got all that to come.
-
But just like the disciples, Jesus invites us to get in on
-
his mission now. And we have this saying in the
-
Vineyard Church, which is everyone gets to play.
-
I don't know if you've heard that before, but if you follow
-
Jesus, you get to be a part of what he's up to.
-
So whether you're a day into knowing him or whether you've
-
been following him for years, you're invited into this thing
-
that God does, and we all are. And he wants us to partner with
-
him to do what Jesus did, not out of our own strength, but
-
filled with the Holy Spirit, empowered by the Spirit of God.
-
So this morning we're going to be learning about praying for
-
healing. So I'm going to talk for a bit,
-
and then we're going to pray for each other.
-
And if you're here and you're listening to this and you don't
-
know Jesus, I would still say stay tuned in because this might
-
be a really good way for you to meet him.
-
So before we start, I just want to say a few things.
-
I feel so teachery with these glasses, like half down over my
-
nose or like a librarian. But I'm really at that stage
-
where I have to do that thing. So forgive me if you feel like
-
you're in a library, OK? We want to do God stuff, but we
-
don't want to do it in a weird way, OK?
-
You might have heard us use the phrase before being naturally
-
supernatural. So still being us, but listening
-
to what God is doing and through his Holy Spirit, kind of just
-
just things happening. Yeah.
-
So some of you will know that we have got a wedding coming up in
-
our family in the next few months.
-
And I will really try hard whenever I speak up here, not to
-
bore you with like wedding analogies, but there's just one
-
I want to bring to your attention this morning.
-
It's that whole thing about, you know, you have the bride and
-
groom and they choose people to do special things on the day.
-
So often they're known as groomsmen.
-
If the the the groom will be choose the groomsmen, Briar will
-
choose her kind of special people.
-
But another word for groomsmen is like ushers.
-
Have you heard that phrase before about being an usher?
-
And the idea is that those people welcome people in welcome
-
people into the building. So I want us to think about that
-
word. So it's like they say, come,
-
come, come in, come here's here's your seat.
-
This seat is for you. And they they're kind of like
-
saying come and be a part of this thing.
-
We've reserved this space for you.
-
Come and experience something of the goodness that is going to
-
happen in this place. And that's what we do when we're
-
asking people, you know, can I, can I pray for you?
-
When we're saying, can I pray for you for healing, whether
-
that be physical or emotional or like anything coming alongside
-
someone and saying, can I pray for you?
-
It's like us ushering them into this space where they might
-
experience something of the love and the mercy and the healing
-
and goodness of God. So have that phrase, that image
-
in your mind of that person inviting people in.
-
That's what we want to do when we're we're inviting people to
-
be prayed for. So secondly, just before we
-
start, we live in a time where we experience both the now and
-
the not yet of the Kingdom. And what I mean by that is that
-
we see healing happen, but we also want to be real about it.
-
There are times when we don't see it happen too.
-
We don't want to make stuff up. We want to be real about what is
-
happening in the space in front of us.
-
So God's Kingdom is here in Jesus, but it's not yet fully
-
here. We still see and experience his
-
goodness, but we also still see brokenness and bad stuff in the
-
world. But we get to partner with God
-
to push back some of that darkness.
-
And I want to be someone, and I want us to be a people in this
-
church who always seek after the Kingdom of God, who always seek
-
after Jesus. Would you come and rule this
-
space in this moment with this person?
-
Would you come do that? And we can be people who seek
-
that and press into that as we usher people into his presence.
-
And one way that we get to do that is to offer to pray for
-
people if they're sick or if they're sad or whatever else is
-
going on and say, look, can I, can I pray for you?
-
We're saying we're kind of saying, would you come and
-
experience something of the goodness of God in this moment?
-
So this morning we're going to go through a really simple
-
framework. Some of you will have heard it
-
before, but it's always good to remind ourselves and it's a
-
framework that helps us with this praying for people
-
sometimes. We've referred to it as the five
-
step model simply because it's got 5 parts to it.
-
It is not a formula. There is nothing magic or rigid
-
about it. It's just a framework that helps
-
to shape how we go about praying for other people.
-
Whether that be in this building, whether that be in
-
small group, whether that be at the school gate, on your lunch
-
break, at work, in Aldi's, in the playground, wherever you
-
are, you can use this framework. It's a really intentional way of
-
praying for other people and of listening to the Holy Spirit and
-
asking God to speak insights to us that will resonate with the
-
person that we're with. It shows kindness to the person
-
that we're praying for always. It always shows kindness and it
-
seeks God's will and God's best for that person.
-
So whether you've been doing this or your life or whether
-
you've never ever prayed for someone else before and right
-
this moment you're thinking, I just want to get out of here.
-
We're going to have an opportunity to learn and then
-
practice this morning. And we want to follow Jesus
-
example. So we're going to be looking at
-
what Jesus did. So I'm going to talk through
-
every stage and then we're going to have a go.
-
OK, so the first stage is simply hello, kicking things off like
-
you know how how to start? Just like it's naturally
-
supernatural, like you're just just going to say hello to
-
someone. Let's have a look at Matthew
-
chapter 20, verse 32. So we're going to say hello.
-
And then the question that we're going to ask is what do you need
-
Jesus to do for you? That's what this part of that
-
first stage is say hi, hi, I'm Pip.
-
You know, what do you need Jesus to do for you?
-
So turn to Matthew 20. We're going to read from verse
-
29 to 34 because Jesus does this, it says this.
-
As Jesus and his disciples were leaving Jericho, a large crowd
-
followed him. Two blind men were sitting by
-
the roadside, and when they heard that Jesus was going by,
-
they shouted, Lord son of David, have mercy on us.
-
The crowd rebuked them and told them to be quiet, but they
-
shouted all the louder. Lord, son of David, have mercy
-
on us. Jesus stopped and called them.
-
What do you want me to do for you?
-
He asked. Lord, they answered, We want our
-
sight. Jesus had compassion on them and
-
touched their eyes and immediately they received their
-
sight and followed him. So you introduce yourself, you
-
ask the person's name and you remember it.
-
And then you're kind of then saying, what do you want Jesus
-
to do for you? You're asked what, what is the,
-
what is the thing? What, what, what is it you want
-
him to do for you? Can I pray for you?
-
You know, we might say something like in our church, if someone's
-
I'll, we ask if we can pray for them.
-
Would that be OK if I prayed for you?
-
What do you want or need Jesus to do for you?
-
And in this moment, we're not kind of going into like a big
-
medical interview. We don't want loads of detail.
-
We're going to keep it simple. It's basically we're just
-
saying, where does it hurt? Where does it hurt them in it?
-
And it might be that you've had a conversation with someone and
-
they've been like, you know, they've just told you about how
-
they're doing. It's in that moment you pick up,
-
oh, OK, you got a stinking headache or, you know, oh,
-
you've broken your leg. And oh, you're feeling really
-
anxious about something. And it's in those moments you're
-
like, OK, Lord, what what are you doing here?
-
And you, you kind of offer that. Can I pray for you?
-
And as you enter into that space with that person kind of asking
-
that question, then you're then just having this conversation
-
quietly with God of kind of like God, what you doing here?
-
And it might be that he gives you words or impressions, like a
-
picture in your mind's eye that helps to kind of pinpoint
-
something that might be going on with that person.
-
And then you just offer that, OK, so it's this, it's this
-
interaction between you and God, you and the Holy Spirit as
-
you're talking to this person, nothing looks fancy or weird.
-
You're still being you and they're still being them, but
-
you're just interacting with them in this moment.
-
So that's the the first stage. OK, second stage.
-
So based on that little, little interview, if you like that
-
first bit, you're then thinking as you're going along, how
-
should I pray? What what is going on here?
-
Let's look at Mark Chapter 7 and verse 32 because a number of
Mark 7 chapter mention
-
things can be going on for people.
-
Mark 7 verse 32, some people brought him that Jesus brought
-
to him a man who was deaf and could hardly talk, and they
-
begged Jesus to place his hand on him.
-
After he took him aside away from a crowd, Jesus put his
-
fingers into the man's ears. I love this like how Jesus takes
-
him aside because he still wants dignity for this person.
-
He doesn't want this thing to become a spectacle.
-
It's not about causing a scene. It's just Jesus and this moment
-
with this man. And then Jesus spit and touched
-
the man's tongue. OK, not, not let's, let's just
-
not go for the whole spitting thing.
-
I'm using this as an example. He looked up to heaven and with
-
a deep sigh said to him, F Fathah, which means be opened.
-
And at this, the man's ears were opened, his tongue was loosened,
-
and he began to speak plainly. So the second part of this
-
framework, we're asking God, like this person said, this is
-
where it hurts. And we're kind of working with
-
God and listing like what is going on here?
-
Maybe there is physical healing, You know, we that's needed.
-
We live in a fallen world that is subject to decay.
-
Our bodies are subject to wear and tear.
-
We have accidents, all those things.
-
But sometimes it's not physical or not just physical healing
-
that's needed. So we're listening to the Holy
-
Spirit. What does he want us to do?
-
Is it to do with this person's head?
-
Is it to do with their heart? Is it to do with their body?
-
What's going on? And bear in mind that people
-
might say one thing and there might also be something going on
-
and something else going on too. So while we're thinking, how
-
should I pray? We're thinking, why?
-
Why does a person have this condition?
-
You know, maybe they just stubbed their toe and it's like
-
they had an accident and you're going to pray for that toe.
-
Maybe there's an emotional 'cause sometimes we can carry
-
emotional pain with us that literally hurts our bodies and
-
our minds. It might come from unforgiveness
-
or bitterness, anxiety or stress or fear or things that have
-
happened in the person's past and that person needs to
-
experience some healing or peace around that.
-
So there might be physical healing, there might be
-
emotional healing that's needed. It might be a a spiritual cause.
-
Turn with me to Matthew Chapter 9.
Matthew 9 chapter mention
-
We're going to be whizzing in and out.
-
OK this morning of different verses.
-
Then Matthew Chapter 9, verse 1 to 8.
-
Jesus sees what the man needs in this moment.
-
So Jesus stepped into a boat. He crossed over and came to his
-
own town. Some men brought to him a
-
paralyzed man lying on a mat. And when Jesus saw their faith,
-
he said to the man, take heart son, your sins are forgiven.
-
So what everyone else sees is this paralyzed man.
-
What Jesus sees that this man needs to hear in this moment is
-
your sins are forgiven. And at this some of the
-
teachers, the law said to themselves, this fellow is
-
blaspheming. Knowing their thoughts, Jesus
-
said, why do you entertain evil thoughts in your hearts, which
-
is easy to say your sins are forgiven or to say get up and
-
walk. But I want you to know that the
-
Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins.
-
So he said to the paralyzed man, get up, take your mat and go
-
home. Then the man got up and went
-
home. When the crowd saw this, they
-
were filled with ore, and they praised God who had given such
-
authority to him. In this situation.
-
There's the spiritual thing going on as well as the
-
physical. Jesus knows what the man first
-
needs to hear is that his sins are forgiven.
-
There's a whole other context going on of like what the other
-
people are believing and thinking at that point and what
-
Jesus is kind of modelling to them too.
-
But people can be out of place with God.
-
There might be sin or pride in the mix.
-
It might be that they need to confess something and turn to
-
God. There's also maybe there's a
-
demonic stuff that's going on. Turn to Luke chapter 13 verses
-
10 to 13 on a Sabbath. Jesus was teaching in one of the
-
synagogues and a woman was there who had been crippled by a
-
spirit for 18 years. She was bent over and couldn't
-
straighten up at all. When Jesus saw her, he called
-
her forward and said to her, Woman, you are set free from
-
your infirmity. And then he put his hands on her
-
and immediately she straightened up and praised God.
-
When someone is oppressed by demonic power, what the person
-
needs to experience is freedom. That's what they need to
-
experience. And maybe they need to confess
-
some stuff about what they've been involved in.
-
Or maybe it's just a case of commanding the demons ago.
-
There are lots of examples of this in the Bible with what
-
Jesus does. But we always, always want to
-
create space that is safe, that is confidential, and that shows
-
mercy and dignity. That's what Jesus did.
-
If you, if you look through the New Testament and you look at
-
Jesus's interactions with people, it was always, those
-
things were characterized in his interactions with people, always
-
about mercy, always about dignity, always like a safety
-
around it and confidentiality. OK, so we've done number one #2
-
OK, on to #3 So we've done the hello, hello.
-
Where does it hurt? We've done the law.
-
What you're doing here. How am I going to pray?
-
Now we're on to the third bit, which is actually doing the
-
praying bit. OK?
-
So if we are teaching this in kids, because we do the same
-
here as we do in kids and that youth do, we say to people often
-
will say, if you if you don't know how to start 3 words that
-
you could say the three words of this calm Holy Spirit because we
-
are not doing any of this of our own accord.
-
We're asking the Holy Spirit to do what Jesus wants to do in
-
this moment. So, so we say, come Holy Spirit,
-
and we would encourage you to lay your hands on where it
-
hurts. Jesus did this.
-
We've already read some of those examples where it says Jesus
-
laid his hands on. So we lay our hands on where it
-
hurts. And because we want to be wise
-
and because we want to be sensible, we will often say guys
-
with guys, girls with girls, you know, in mixed pairs, if you if
-
you're if there's someone there of the opposite sex, then you're
-
you're going to do that with with someone else, like a mixed
-
couple with them. Does that make sense?
-
OK, So we're being appropriate. OK, And if someone's hurt their
-
knee, we might say, can I pray? Can I pray for your knee?
-
Can I put, can I put my hand on your knee?
-
If it's, you know, they're back, put your hand on their back.
-
But you're asking permission and you're being appropriate.
-
If it's if it's not a place that's appropriate to put your
-
hands, don't put your hands there.
-
OK. And then you're going to wait.
-
So you said, come, Holy Spirit, Jesus, would you come in this
-
moment and then you're going to wait and watch, keep your eyes
-
open to see what you can see going on.
-
And you're listening all the time.
-
The apostles did this. You can see the disciples doing
-
this. If you want to turn to Acts
Acts 3 chapter mention
-
chapter 3 verses 4:00 to 8:00, we'll have a little look at
-
something that happened with Peter and John.
-
So Peter's walking past someone and he sees someone there.
-
Peter looked straight at him as did John.
-
And then Peter said, look at us. So the man gave him his them his
-
attention, expecting to get something from them.
-
And then Peter said, silver or gold.
-
I don't have what I do have. I give you and in the name of
-
Jesus Christ of Nazareth walk. So he speaks to this paralyzed
-
man and he says, get up and walk.
-
And taking him by the right hand, he helped him up and
-
instantly the man's feet and ankles became strong.
-
He jumped to his feet and began to walk.
-
And then he went with them into the temple courts, walking and
-
jumping and praising God. Peter and John were looking OK
-
looking at this person. When we pray, we want to look at
-
the person that we're praying for because it gives us clues as
-
to what Jesus is doing in that moment.
-
So keep it simple. Use normal words, use your
-
normal voice, use normal volume. We don't want to hype anything
-
up. We want to be naturally
-
supernatural, just us inviting God into this space.
-
And just like Jesus did, we've already read, I think one of the
-
first examples we read this morning, Jesus says be opened to
-
the man's ears. So we speak to the pain or the
-
condition that we see before us. It might be that we say
-
something like ears be opened or headache go, or stress in
-
shoulders be relieved or fractures mend.
-
You know, we keep it simple. Normal, normal vocabulary,
-
normal voice, normal volume, speak to the condition, speak to
-
the pain and tell it to go. And then as you're doing this,
-
there's the whole thing of like, what do you see?
-
Because sometimes when people encounter the power and the
-
presence of God, sometimes we see stuff happen on them and in
-
them and with them. Other times you might see
-
nothing at all. And that doesn't mean that God
-
is not doing something. But some of the things you might
-
see, you might see just a flush on people's face, like almost
-
like a, it feels like an, almost like a redness or a you might
-
see the eyelids fluttering. You might see some of their
-
bodies shaking. You might see crying, which can
-
often be a release of pain. You might see laughing, which
-
can be like joy. You might just see this peace on
-
people. And like I said before, you
-
might see nothing at all. And it doesn't mean that God's
-
not doing anything. The outward sides are not
-
important in themselves. What is important is what God is
-
doing in that person. But we don't hype anything up.
-
We just want to respond to what God is doing in that time.
-
And sometimes as we pray, we can see that something is
-
intensifying. And if that happens, then we
-
would encourage you to press into what God is doing.
-
It might be that you say, Holy Spirit, would you do more of
-
what you're doing here or thank you for what you're doing?
-
Could you keep doing it? He knows what's going on.
-
Bless what he's doing, Thank him.
-
So another thing that we can do, especially as we're learning
-
this is that we can come alongside someone else who is
-
already praying for someone. We'd be like, do you mind if I
-
can, I, can I come too? Can I just come and watch?
-
And you can just watch. You don't even have to say
-
anything or you can kind of join in.
-
So we watch, we learn. And we would say that in, in
-
this church, often we say, if you're in a small group, would
-
you come and pray? And that's often because in
-
small groups, we've been practicing, do some of this
-
stuff. I've been trying to learn how to
-
do it. OK, so we've had the first
-
hello, where does it hurt? We've had the second, what's
-
going on here? And then we've had the third
-
actual praying. And then the 4th part is
-
checking in with the person, like how you doing, what's going
-
on? So you might just want to ask
-
what's happening? You're not going to interrupt
-
what God is doing. Let's see an example when Jesus
-
does this. So if you turn to Mark chapter
Mark 8 chapter mention
-
8, we're going to look at verses starting at verse 22 and going
-
through to 25. They came to Bethsaida and some
-
people brought a blind man and begged Jesus to touch him.
-
He took the blind man and LED him outside the village.
-
And when he had spit on the man's eyes and put his hands on
-
him, Jesus asked, do you see anything?
-
He's checking in, what's happening?
-
He looked up and said, I see people, they look like trees
-
walking around. So maybe his vision is starting
-
to come back, but still looking a bit blurry, don't quite look
-
like people yet. Once more Jesus put his hands on
-
the man's eyes and then his eyes were opened and his sight was
-
restored and he saw everything clearly.
-
So this 4th part is that checking in, how you doing?
-
What's going on? And at the same time you're
-
looking, what do you see going on?
-
You might say to the person you're feeling anything
-
different in your body? Do you notice anything
-
different? Is Jesus saying anything to you?
-
Are you able to do anything that you couldn't do before?
-
Almost to kind of measure if there has been any healing?
-
It might be that right back at the start when you said where
-
does it hurt? It's like, oh, my back's
-
excruciating. Like on a scale of like 1 to 10
-
pain, what do you reckon that is?
-
Oh yeah, it's an 8. It's really, really bad.
-
And at this check in point, it might be you go back to that.
-
So what, what does it feel like now?
-
Oh, it's still an 8 or oh, it's a four, It's a 2.
-
So you, that kind of measuring is another thing that you can do
-
at this point. So all the time you're
-
continuing to listen to the Holy Spirit and you're taking some
-
time with people. Jesus did that.
-
He he took time with people, didn't rush off on his way if he
-
was present with the people that he was with.
-
And then we would just say at this point, stop when you think
-
it's all over or stop when you've run out of things to pray
-
or stop when the person who you're praying for thinks it's
-
all over. Like I'm done.
-
OK, we're not going to push past that.
-
We're just going to respect what what those what people say and
-
stop when you think it's going OK.
-
We're being natural, supernatural.
-
We're not going to try and force something.
-
It's all about OK God, what you're doing here.
-
If you're still doing stuff here and this person still wants us
-
to pray, then we'll carry on. Otherwise we'll stop. 5th part
-
finishing. Well, how do I finish doing
-
this? Thank God for his presence.
-
Maybe you might want to encourage the person you're
-
praying for to press into something in their life going
-
forwards. Maybe it's like, do you know, if
-
you, you know, maybe you could read the read this bit in the
-
Bible. Maybe you could connect with us
-
in church. Can't keep coming to church,
-
keep getting plugged in, keep, you know, keep keep worshipping.
-
Maybe it's like, why don't you? You might want to follow Jesus.
-
If the person has been healed or the condition has improved,
-
advise them to go check it out with the doctor.
-
Never tell people to stop taking their medication.
-
If they're on medication, encourage.
-
Maybe you might want to encourage the person to follow
-
Jesus if they're not healed because we live in the now and
-
not yet of the Kingdom. Reaffirm that God loves them.
-
You might want to say, why don't, why don't you come back?
-
We'll pray again next week. Don't say what you haven't seen.
-
Don't make excuses for the person or for God.
-
Don't blame anybody for a lack of faith.
-
Encourage people to look to Jesus.
-
We want people to feel cared for and loved, whether they've
-
experienced healing or not. So they're the five stages, the
-
beginning. Where does it hurt?
-
Can I pray for you? Second, what's going on?
-
How do I need to pray? Third, actually the praying. 4th
-
bit checking in, how's it going? What's going on?
-
5th bit ending well. OK, Just a couple of things to
-
remember. Must be aware that as we're
-
doing this, you know, there might be spiritual conflict
-
before that, during it, after it, and it might you want to get
-
prayer yourself. And I would just say grow.
-
We want to be people who grow in doing this, who practice this
-
and learn how to do this. And one of the ways that we can
-
do that is to decide to pray for someone who's sick, John Wimber,
-
who started the Vineyard movement years ago.
-
And there's a story that he told where, you know, he taught about
-
the healing model, and then someone that was listening to it
-
went away and prayed for someone.
-
And then they came back to him. And they were just like, it
-
doesn't work, It didn't work. And John Wimber said to him,
-
when you pray for 1000 people, they can come back.
-
So this is encouragement for us to just keep on doing this to
-
decide to pray for people to decide when when someone says
-
something, we but we use it as an opportunity to usher them in
-
into the presence of God. Pray alongside other people.
-
Get help when you need help. And there is actually for the
-
month of January that the Vineyard theology, Vineyard
-
Theology are doing a module on healing and it's being offered
-
for free. So you can sign up for free for
-
that if you want want to learn more about it.
-
And that's free for the month of January.
-
If you want to find out how to do that, come and find me
-
afterwards. So this week, I want to
-
encourage you to keep your eyes open, keep your ears open.
-
And if someone is sick or worried or anxious, invite them
-
in to do this, ushering in can I pray for you?
-
Would you mind if I pray for you?
-
If they say no, that's completely fine, but ask that
-
question and then see where that might go.
-
And it wouldn't be great. It would be great if we had some
-
stories in the next few weeks of like, oh, do you know what?
-
I did this and this happened or I had a go and they weren't
-
healed. But I'm so glad I had a go.
-
So going to get practical this morning.
-
Is there anyone here who he's not well or has got any aches
-
and pains this morning? I know there are some people
-
because you've already had that conversation.
-
Can I? Yeah.
-
Excellent. OK, Fran.
-
OK. Anyone else?
-
Aches, pains. Loretta, something going on just
-
like emotionally, like stress, anxiety.
-
Anything else going on? OK, 123.
-
Anyone else? 4-5 Excellent.
-
OK, brilliant. OK, Let's just pray before we
-
start. Cherie.
-
Jesus, would you come in this moment?
-
Would you teach us? Would you show us what to do?
-
May we, may we learn from you in this moment.
-
We're we're listening to you. Amen.
-
OK, So if you're one of those people, if you've got aches or
-
pains or whatever, why don't you just stand up?
-
I'm not going to ask you to come down the front.
-
Just stand up where you are. Frown.
-
Is it tricky for you to stand up?
-
You stay sitting down if you need to.
-
Yeah. OK.
-
If you're near any of these people, why don't you just
-
gather around them, OK. And we're going to, we're going
-
to go through the stages. I'm going to talk to you through
-
it and we're going to do it. OK, so even if you've not done
-
it before, Becker and Elizabeth go I'm I'm go go stand next to
-
these guys here. Oh, was it was it 1 of you 2?
-
No. Oh, you.
-
Yes. Yeah.
-
OK. OK.
-
Great. Recker Elizabeth, go stand next
-
near Nathan. Essie, you're going to need to
-
move to be near Sarah. I mean, in front of you here.
-
Yeah, with Jeremy. Excellent.
-
Because of people near. Oh, OK.
-
Has everyone who stood up got someone near them?
-
Excellent, great, great. And James, are you tagging in on
-
there? Brilliant, wonderful.
-
OK, excellent. So, OK, let's go for the first
-
bit then. So hello.
-
Where does it hurt? That's kind of what you're going
-
to say. OK, how we doing?
-
You're kind of not full on medical interview.
-
Have you found out where it hurts?
-
Kind of how it long long it's been going on for maybe how it
-
started. You've come in.
-
OK, if any of you are not well, then we're going to pray for you
-
for healing. If you're all fine and dandy,
-
then go for joining with someone else who's who's, who needs some
-
prayer youth coming in. OK, listen, this is the this is
-
the thing this morning. We're praying for healing.
-
So if any of you are not well, then we're going to pray for
-
you. If you are all fine and dandy,
-
go stand near someone who who needs some prayer.
-
So people who are standing up, who are, are people who need
-
some prayer, go prayer. OK, so you found out.
-
Brilliant, now I should. So you're going to say you're,
-
you're now kind of trying to think about what is going on for
-
that person. So you're thinking, OK, is it a
-
physical thing? Is it maybe something going on
-
with their heart or their heads? That's what you're trying to
-
ascertain as you're doing this. We've moved into the second
-
part. Why is this person kind of got
-
this thing happening? And if you've kind of done one
-
and two, sometimes you do those together.
-
Move on to #3 start praying. If you don't know how else to
-
start, say come Holy Spirit, keep your eyes open.
-
If you're around the back of someone, you might not be able
-
to see them. I would suggest you around the
-
front so you can see what might be going on.
-
If you're the person being prayed for, you might feel a bit
-
weird, so we'd encourage you to close your eyes.
-
But the person, if you're praying, keep your eyes open and
-
look and see what might be going on.
