It's time for the Champions in Christ broadcast
-
with Rhonda Harrison on 1017 Bay FM. Good morning
-
and thank you for listening to Champions in Christ
-
this morning. This is the day the Lord has made
-
and we will rejoice and be glad in it. So happy
-
you could join us today. We're gonna go in the
-
Bible today and we're gonna go into Second Kings
-
and we're gonna talk about something that happened
-
and God moved in a supernatural way. So let's
-
go to chapter six, second Kings chapter six,
-
and we're going to start with verse one. And
-
it says, and the sons of the prophets said unto
-
Elisha, behold now the place where we dwell.
-
you is too straight for us let us go we pray
-
unto the Jordan and take there every man a beam
-
and let us make a place there where we may dwell
-
and God and he answered and said yes go and one
-
said be content I pray and go with your servants
-
and he answered I will go so he went with them
-
and when they came to the Jordan they cut down
-
wood but as one with feeling a One was falling
-
a beam the axe head fell into the water and he
-
cried and said Master for it was borrowed. He
-
was using an axe that was borrowed. It wasn't
-
his property and in the process of cutting the
-
trees and using that axe head the head of the
-
axe fell in the water and the man of God said
-
verse 6 where did it fall and he showed him the
-
place and he cut down a stick and cast it in
-
in there where the where he showed him and the
-
iron did swim therefore he said take it up and
-
put it in your hand and he took it now this is
-
such a small story in the bible but it's very
-
powerful and it's a foreshadow what i saw in
-
this is that it reminded me of in the new testament
-
you know that Axe the axe head represents sin,
-
you know, it was black it was heavy and It can
-
it can take it down right and that's what sin
-
is in our life It's it's dark and it can be a
-
heavy burden and it can take you down it can
-
take you down quick, right and so the Bible says
-
in James that when we sin sin leads to death
-
matter what the situation if it's a relationship
-
if it's your physical body if it's your mental
-
capacity whatever realm the more we sin it's
-
going to lead us to death But just as this weight
-
was heavy and fell down into the water the man
-
ran to the man of God Which was Elijah and it
-
and he represents Jesus in this picture the same
-
way When that sin and that burden gets so heavy
-
on us we can run to Jesus We don't need a man
-
of God now because Jesus is our advocate. We
-
don't need to go confess to a person You can
-
confess the Bible in the New Testament says confess
-
your faults one to another that you may be healed
-
But you can confess right to God you have access
-
just by calling on the name of Jesus repenting
-
of sin and Receiving his free gift of salvation
-
that gives us access hallelujah so anytime we
-
said anytime that burden gets too heavy we can
-
run to Jesus and Elijah representing Jesus represents
-
grace and mercy you know here this man was using
-
a borrowed axe and when that head fell off he
-
knew was trouble because he would have to repay
-
he couldn't give it back ran to the man of God
-
just as we run to Jesus and the man of God gave
-
him an instruction the same way the Lord gives
-
us an instruction he says if we believe with
-
our heart that Jesus died and rose again and
-
we confess with our mouth that Jesus is Lord
-
we will be born again hallelujah The same way
-
Elisha gave him an accent gave him his supernatural
-
used the God Supernatural power through Elijah
-
when he threw that stick in and made that iron
-
come to the surface The same way when Jesus died
-
on that cross and rose again his supernatural
-
power Raised that body from the grave raised
-
Jesus Christ from the grave. You know every other
-
king every other leader in the religious realm
-
their dust is still in the grave but not Jesus
-
hallelujah he's alive and he's alive and he loves
-
you today he loves you so much and the same way
-
that axe head I mean that stick was thrown in
-
the water and that axe head rose up that's the
-
same resurrection power that God gives us today
-
and you say how does he give us that power When
-
we get born again when we do just what I was
-
sharing about Believing in our heart that he
-
died on that cross for your sin. He was the payment
-
for our sin so He washes you clean. The Bible
-
says white as snow when we give our heart to
-
him. So when we confess with our mouth that Jesus
-
is Lord and we repent, we turn away from that
-
sin. He gives us the power of the Holy Spirit.
-
He says, I go to my father and I will send the
-
comforter. So he sends the Holy Spirit. And when
-
you give your life to christ the holy spirit
-
comes and lives inside of you and literally Makes
-
you a new creation in christ old things are passed
-
away. You have become new praise the lord You
-
know our mind we will have to renew in the word
-
and get the mind of christ But we have it available
-
God is available at our access at any time we
-
need him the Bible says he will never leave you
-
and never forsake you Never so the same way all
-
things were restored God's supernatural power
-
the anointing which is the power of God on Elisha
-
was used in this instant to bring that accent
-
back to the surface the same way if you call
-
on his name today whatever you need the Bible
-
says he is our provider he will provide so praise
-
the Lord praise the Lord praise praise praise
-
the Lord you know Elijah represented the goodness
-
of God you know in that place he needed the goodness
-
of God that man needed the goodness of God and
-
God met him there you know God Elijah was a prophet
-
you don't have to have a prophet believe suit
-
for something supernatural God as he shows us
-
in the New Testament many many many many times
-
all you need is faith the size of a mustard seed
-
a mustard seed is one of the smallest seeds on
-
the planet and that's all the faith you need
-
in him and he will come on the scene you know
-
the Bible says that that his Holy Spirit runs
-
to and fro over the earth looking for whom he
-
can show himself strong on their behalf so praise
-
God call out to him today if you're in a circumstance
-
or a situation and you don't know how to get
-
out Jesus is the way the truth of the life he
-
is your way out he is your way out you can be
-
confident knowing when you call upon him he will
-
answer you he will meet you at the point of your
-
need but he does require that we believe Believe
-
just trust just rely on him. You know we sometimes
-
can put our trust in man or. doctors or bosses
-
or parents or siblings or friends and we can
-
trust them to a degree but you can trust God
-
100 % he is so faithful to you he has the perfect
-
plan the Bible says he has a plan for your life
-
and it's a great plan and it doesn't mean your
-
life will be it without struggle or without curveballs
-
you know there is a real devil out there that
-
wants to defeat um everybody that's chasing after
-
god he hates god he's the enemy of god and he'll
-
throw thoughts in your mind to try and steer
-
you left and steer you right but you keep your
-
eyes on jesus you keep your focus on him the
-
bible says for us to think on things that are
-
good and pure and holy and of a good report if
-
there be any virtue or any praise think on these
-
things glory to god so we want to think on things
-
that are good god says you are the apple of his
-
eye god says you are chosen he chose you before
-
the foundation of the world he knew you before
-
you were in your mother's womb and had a plan
-
for your life if you're wandering if you don't
-
know what to do with your life if you've made
-
some bad turns or bad choices it doesn't take
-
anything. God's right there. Just whisper Jesus.
-
He will come right there. His presence, his tangible
-
presence. You will feel his presence when you
-
mean it from your whole heart. He is there for
-
you and he sends representatives on the earth.
-
Who are the representatives? You. me people that
-
know Jesus we are to witness we are to bear witness
-
talk about the goodness of God why because he's
-
been so good to us hallelujah hallelujah I remember
-
I was lost and undone I was in a very hurtful
-
place in my 20s early 20s when someone told me
-
about Jesus and it changed my life and continues
-
to change my life. You will have the greatest
-
adventure you've ever had with a relationship
-
with Christ. You will not believe it. God will
-
show up at every turn. You will have so much
-
fun in God. God is a fun God. He's a loving Heavenly
-
Father. The same way you want to enjoy your children.
-
your grandchildren that's the way God enjoys
-
us he loves to see us happy he loves to see us
-
rejoicing when we're crying or we're sad he will
-
comfort us that Holy Spirit the third person
-
of the Trinity oh what a wonderful wonderful
-
Holy Spirit he will comfort you in those hard
-
times he will strengthen you he will baptize
-
you with fire he will baptize you with fire he
-
is a holy holy god and there is nothing like
-
him we're going to continue in this same um area
-
of scripture we're going to keep going this is
-
going to start with a different story though
-
going to tell us a little bit different way that
-
god watches over his children so we're going
-
to do that let's look right now let's continue
-
in second kings chapter six this time we're going
-
to go ahead and start in verse 8 right kind of
-
where we left off and it says then the king of
-
Syria warred against Israel in other words made
-
war with Israel and took counsel with this servant
-
saying in such and such place that's where I'm
-
going to camp And the man of God sent unto the
-
king of Israel, saying, beware that you pass
-
not to such and such place, for there the Syrians
-
have come down. So here's Elijah, right? God
-
speaks to him supernaturally, tells him where
-
the Syrians are gonna be, and he warns the children
-
of Israel. And verse 10, the king of Israel sent
-
to the place where the man of God told him and
-
warned him of and saved himself. again and again
-
and again the man of God kept telling him what
-
the enemy was planning against him and it saved
-
the the king of Israel and the children of Israel
-
the army of Israel therefore the heart of the
-
king of Syria was very troubled for this thing
-
and he called his servants and said unto them
-
will you not show me which one of us is for the
-
king of Israel and not and one of his servants
-
said none my lord but it's Elijah the prophet
-
that is in Israel that tells the king the words
-
that you speak in your bedchamber. Wow. Wow.
-
That's called a word of knowledge. It's actually
-
talked about in the New Testament, but the Holy
-
Spirit revealed to Elijah something he wouldn't
-
have known on his own. And that was where the
-
where the king of Syria was taking his army because
-
he wanted to destroy the children of Israel.
-
So Elijah would tell the king of Israel so that
-
they would be prepared. He protected God protected
-
and he will protect you if you're in a dangerous
-
situation Get out and God will give you wisdom
-
ask him for wisdom ask him for the courage You
-
should not be in any dangerous situation his
-
place for you is safety his place for you is
-
love and joy and peace and kindness and gentleness
-
if you're in a bad situation and you need help
-
you ask God for help and he will lead you out
-
of that situation he will take you where you
-
need to be and he will take you out of what you
-
don't need to be in and he will protect you if
-
you if you believe in him trust him and follow
-
his word what he speaks to your heart and you
-
go oh but does God really speak absolutely the
-
same way our heavenly father the same way you
-
as a father speak to your children our heavenly
-
father speaks to us through Jesus and the Holy
-
Spirit Jesus is at the right hand of the father
-
interceding for you praying for you declaring
-
the Word of God over you and the Holy Spirit
-
will speak to you if you ask God if you ask him
-
pray Pray to God in Jesus' name and He will answer
-
you. He will answer you. And so then, okay, let's
-
go back to the Word of God. And as we continue
-
in the story, he said go and spy where he is
-
and I will send and fetch for him he's talking
-
about Elisha and it was told unto him behold
-
he's in Dothan therefore he sent horses and chariots
-
and a great host I mean this king of Syria he
-
was worried about Elisha he sent a whole host
-
of valiant men that were had chariots and horses
-
and and they came by night and they compassed
-
the city round about now do you think god did
-
not know about this of course he did god knows
-
everything nothing gets by our god and so when
-
the servant of the man of god alicia's servant
-
rose up Early that morning and went forth. He
-
saw a host compassing the city both horses and
-
chariots and his servant said unto him alas master.
-
What should we do? Oh boy the master. I mean
-
the servant of Elisha was so concerned. All he
-
saw was the enemy surrounding them. Elisha prayed
-
you know when you're surrounded or you're in
-
a bad situation it's always the right thing to
-
pray and Elisha prayed and said Lord I pray that
-
you open the eyes that he may see he's talking
-
about his servant and the Lord opened his eyes
-
of the young man and he saw and behold the mountain
-
was full of horses and chariots of fire round
-
about Elisha when they came down to him Elisha
-
prayed unto the Lord and said smite these people
-
I pray with blindness and he smote them with
-
blindness according to the word of Elisha okay
-
so here we have he has asked God to smite the
-
eyes of the enemy And Elisha said to them, this
-
is not the way neither is this the city follow
-
me and I will bring you to the man whom you seek
-
and he led them to Samaria. So they were being
-
led to Samaria not realizing that Elisha the
-
one leading them was the man they wanted but
-
God had blinded their eyes. So they didn't see
-
him the way he was. And so and it came to pass
-
when they have come into Samaria their Elisha
-
said Lord open the eyes of these men that they
-
may see and the Lord open their eyes and they
-
saw and behold they were in the middle of Samaria
-
and the king of Israel said Elisha when he saw
-
them my father shall I smite them shall I smite
-
them you know now the king of Israel wants his
-
revenge on this army that was chasing them down.
-
But Elisha led them there and the Holy Spirit
-
of God, the supernatural power of God is what
-
blinded them to not know that he was Elisha or
-
where he was leading them. And he answered and
-
said, You will not smite them. Would you smite
-
those whom you take in captive with your sword
-
and your bow? Set bread and water before them
-
that they may eat and drink and go to their master.
-
He was treating them like prisoners of war. you
-
know he had brought them in he you know the Lord
-
had encompassed roundabout and he brought them
-
in. And there was one important scripture we
-
missed when we were when we were reading I skipped
-
over by accident and 16 it says Fear not for
-
they with us are more than they with them In
-
other words when he had asked God to open the
-
eyes of his servant to see the chariots and the
-
horses He saw that there were more men with Elisha
-
and the servant than there was the entire army
-
around that city That's how much help you have
-
on your side. We have angels. We have the Holy
-
Spirit and the angels. The Bible says are innumerable.
-
So you can trust God. You can trust God. So they
-
fed the king of Israel fed the prisoners of war
-
and then they left and then they left and it
-
says. And they prepared great provision and when
-
they had eaten and drunk he sent them away and
-
they went their master. So the bands of Syria
-
came no more into the land of Israel. Hallelujah.
-
God protected them, and He will protect you.
-
He will protect you, and He will bless you in
-
ways that you can't even imagine. That's how
-
good our God is. He is a faithful, loving, heavenly
-
Father. Heavenly Father. Remember, He's in heaven
-
above everything. He sees all. He knows all.
-
