  1. It's time for the Champions in Christ broadcast

  2. with Rhonda Harrison on 1017 Bay FM. Good morning

  3. and welcome to Champions in Christ. We're so

  4. glad you joined us today. This is the day the

  5. Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad

  6. in it. Today we're going to talk about God's

  7. love towards us. You know his love is so great

  8. towards his creation He loves you today without

  9. a doubt and that love never changes No matter

  10. what we're doing. No matter where we're at. We

  11. can't change the greatness of God's love towards

  12. us He loves his creation and you're his creation.

  13. I'm his creation Now he doesn't love when we

  14. sin he doesn't like some of the things we do

  15. but if we're quick to repent we're restored to

  16. right relationship with him and Then he but either

  17. way he loves us. Just know he loves us. He loves

  18. us. He loves us It says while we were yet sinners

  19. Christ died for us. He loved us so much That

  20. he gave his only begotten son that who show Albert

  21. who so ever shall believe in him Shall not perish

  22. but have eternal life. You know, that's big love

  23. when God will Send his only son to lay down his

  24. life on our behalf No matter what we're dealing

  25. with and today we're going to talk about temptation

  26. the Bible hat does have some things to say about

  27. it and So we're gonna find out, you know God's

  28. love for people constrained him to say no to

  29. temptation. You know, he was the only one to

  30. say no to temptation. He could have sinned, he

  31. had a free will. He was raised just as we're

  32. raised with a mom and dad, and they raised him

  33. in the fear and admonition of God, the same way

  34. some of us are raised, yet he was without sin.

  35. But he did endure temptation. And so let's go

  36. to where Jesus endured temptation first. So we're

  37. going to go to Matthew four, verse one, it says,

  38. then Jesus was led up by the spirit into the

  39. wilderness to be tempted by the devil. And when

  40. he had fasted 40 days and 40 nights afterwards,

  41. he was hungry. Now when the tempter came, he

  42. said, if you are the son of God, command these

  43. stones to become bread. But Jesus answered and

  44. said, it is written, man shall not live by bread

  45. alone, but by every word that proceeds out of

  46. the mouth of God. Wow. You know, here's Jesus.

  47. He is hungry. He hasn't eaten in 40 days and

  48. 40 nights. And so the enemy comes and tempts

  49. him with bread. And what happens? He doesn't

  50. say, oh yeah, I want that and dive in. No, he

  51. remembers what he's doing. He stayed focused.

  52. on his love for you and his love for me and he

  53. said no man does not live by bread alone but

  54. by every word that proceeds out of the mouth

  55. of god so then the devil verse three took him

  56. up to a holy city set him on a pinnacle of the

  57. temple and said if you are the son of god throw

  58. yourself down for it is written he shall give

  59. his angels charge over you and in their hands

  60. they shall bear you up least you dash your foot

  61. against the stone And Jesus said to him, it is

  62. written, you shall not tempt the Lord your God.

  63. The enemy knows the word of God. And if we don't

  64. know it as well as he knows it, he's going to

  65. twist it and try to make us as he was doing in

  66. this example with Jesus, try and make us stumble

  67. and fall. But thank God Jesus didn't do that.

  68. He turned around and told him, told him again,

  69. the devil took him up. And what did Jesus say

  70. to him? You know, Jesus said, you shall not tempt

  71. the Lord your God. He knew it was a tempting.

  72. He knew the word. He knew angels are available.

  73. He knew angels protect us, but he knew we don't

  74. tempt God. to use angels we don't we don't purposely

  75. do something to just get God to do something

  76. in a negative way and so God Jesus used the word

  77. of God against him that's our tool against the

  78. enemy as well when the enemy puts thoughts in

  79. your head oh do this do that and you know in

  80. your spirit in your heart of hearts it's wrong

  81. then we use the word against him. You know, James

  82. says, submit yourself to God, resist the enemy

  83. and he will flee. You know, Jesus used the word

  84. to resist him and he's our ultimate example.

  85. He's the ultimate champion. And so we follow

  86. that example and we use the word against him

  87. too. But Satan wasn't done in his tempting. He

  88. again, in verse eight, again the devil took him

  89. up on an exceedingly high mountain and showed

  90. him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory.

  91. And he said unto them, all these things I will

  92. give you if you will fall down and worship me.

  93. That was Satan's whole goal anyway. He wants

  94. us to worship him. He wants us to make other

  95. idols in our life besides God. That's what he

  96. did when he was in heaven. He said, I'll exalt

  97. my throne above God's. That's what he said. That's

  98. what got him cast out of heaven was that pride.

  99. And here Jesus, he's offering Jesus all these

  100. kingdoms and the glory with them. And Jesus said

  101. to him, verse 10, away with you, Satan, for it

  102. is written, you will worship the Lord your God

  103. and him only will we serve. You can't serve God

  104. and mammon. It doesn't mean God doesn't want

  105. you to be blessed and prosperous, have nice things.

  106. No, all of that's in the Word. He just doesn't

  107. want those nice things to have you. And in this

  108. instance, he spoke directly to Satan again, which

  109. is what we're to do. Satan is our enemy in all

  110. his cohorts. So when you get things coming in

  111. your in your mind because not every thought comes

  112. from you. Sometimes the enemy will send a thought

  113. into your mind. You don't have to take that thought.

  114. You cast it down with the Word of God. You know

  115. when you see something coming against your life

  116. that the Word does not say can be there, you

  117. speak to it. You say no in Jesus' name and you

  118. declare the Word over that. You know and then

  119. it says in verse 11, then the devil left him

  120. and behold the angels came and ministered to

  121. him. You know the devil left him for a time and

  122. the devil can't be everywhere at one time. There's

  123. one devil but there's many demons. You know he

  124. took a third of the angels and now there are

  125. demons with him when he fell out of heaven or

  126. when he was cast out of heaven I should say.

  127. And so he has cohorts and we have to stand against

  128. those with the word of God. even when we're tempted

  129. but Matthew 16 24 through 27 said and Jesus said

  130. to his disciples now that's you and that's me

  131. if we know Jesus as our Lord and Savior we're

  132. his disciples and he said if anyone desires to

  133. come after me let him deny himself take up his

  134. cross and follow me For whoever desires to save

  135. his life will lose it, and whoever loses his

  136. life for my sake will find it. For what does

  137. it profit a man to gain the whole world and lose

  138. his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange

  139. for his soul? For the Son of Man will come in

  140. glory of his father and angels, and then he will

  141. reward each according to his works. Now he's

  142. talking here when he says laying down your life.

  143. You're having lived your life for God, not for

  144. your own desires. Now does God want you blessed?

  145. Yes, he's not talking about you staying poor

  146. or Poverty is not of God. The Bible says Christ

  147. became poor that we might become rich. So he

  148. does want you blessed, but he wants you blessed

  149. spiritually, physically, financially. He provided

  150. everything. He restored us to that place that

  151. originally Adam had before he fell. where we

  152. are blessed on every side, but how do we stay

  153. blessed? We stay blessed by not yielding to temptation.

  154. You know, the Bible says, I'm bought with a price.

  155. I am not my own. You know, when Christ died for

  156. us and we receive him as Lord and Savior, He's

  157. bought us with that price the price of his precious

  158. blood. You know, he didn't have to but he chose

  159. to why because he loves you and I so much, you

  160. know. We're going to read James 1, 12 through

  161. 16. It says, blessed is a man that endures temptation,

  162. for when he's tried, he shall receive the crown

  163. of life which the Lord has promised to those

  164. who love him. You know, when you love God, you

  165. will not follow through when a temptation comes

  166. because you so want to please him. It's just

  167. like when you love someone in your life, someone

  168. very special. Maybe it's the love of your life.

  169. You've met them. What do you want to do? You

  170. want to please them. You want to make them happy

  171. and so doing things that make them unhappy. doesn't

  172. even feel good to you because your love, your

  173. heart is bursting for love for them. That's the

  174. same way it should be with our hearts towards

  175. God, but it can only be that way the more we

  176. get to know him, the more we spend time with

  177. him because there's more we'll find out why we

  178. love him. And so verse 13, let no man say when

  179. he's tempted, I'm tempted by God for God cannot

  180. tempt with evil neither Is he tempted by evil?

  181. But he tempts no man. But every man is tempted

  182. when he's drawn away of his own lust and enticed.

  183. Then when lust is conceived, it brings forth

  184. sin. When sin is finished, it brings forth death.

  185. And that's to any area in our life. So it says

  186. in 16, do not air my beloved brethren. Christ

  187. does not want us to err in this area. He wants

  188. us to live life to the fullest, to be blessed

  189. with every blessing. So when temptation comes,

  190. we just have to say no. And does your flesh want

  191. to yield to the temptation? Of course it does.

  192. But guess what? Your spirit man is built up.

  193. and God will give you a way of escape for every

  194. temptation. You do not have to yield. God is

  195. so faithful. He is so faithful. You know there's

  196. a scripture it says that No temptation has overtaken

  197. you except as common to man, but God is faithful

  198. who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what

  199. you are able, but with that temptation also he

  200. will make a way of escape that you will be able

  201. to bear it. Thank God, you know God's given us

  202. provision in every circumstances to make right

  203. choices and live and live to the fullest. Even

  204. in temptation, he makes a way of escape. So if

  205. your mind is being filled with tempting thoughts

  206. and you're being drawn into things you know are

  207. not right, you've got to change your thoughts.

  208. What does the Bible tell us to do? Think on things

  209. that are pure and lovely and holy and just and

  210. of a good report. If there be any virtue or praise,

  211. think on these things. We can't keep thinking

  212. on what you think on is going to begin. That's

  213. why we just read where those thoughts become

  214. seeds so if you get a seed that's a temptation

  215. to you and you think on it and you dwell on it

  216. and you dwell on it eventually it's going to

  217. drop in your heart it's going to be coming out

  218. of your mouth and then eventually you're going

  219. to act that out and you'll fulfill the temptation

  220. now when you do and many of us have there we've

  221. all been tempted and it happens all through life

  222. but you learn as you grow as a Christian to say

  223. no to those things because with every fall we

  224. make in God there is a consequence but the good

  225. thing is we don't get all that we deserve because

  226. none of us deserve heaven that's for sure because

  227. the Bible says our righteousness is as filthy

  228. rags but because of Jesus He gives us, He crowned

  229. us with loving kindness and tender mercies. And

  230. you know, the reason He did is because He knows

  231. the feeling of our infirmities. And I'll read

  232. you a scripture, it's in Hebrews, it says, Seeing

  233. that we have a great high priest that is passed

  234. into heaven, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold

  235. fast to our profession. For it's not that we

  236. have a high priest who cannot be touched with

  237. the feeling of our infirmities but was in all

  238. points tempted like as we are yet without sin.

  239. He's that ultimate champion. He's our example

  240. and he chose to endure temptation that he could

  241. receive the promise, the joy set before him.

  242. So when our focus is on things on goals and things

  243. that God wants in our life then when that temptation

  244. comes we have to deny it so that we can receive

  245. the fullness of the blessing it says let us therefore

  246. come boldly unto the throne of grace that we

  247. may obtain mercy and find grace to help in the

  248. time of need In that time of temptation, you

  249. can come to the Lord if you're really struggling

  250. and I know many of you are. It says you can obtain

  251. mercy and grace. God knows that temptation. He

  252. has felt everyone. It says in all points like

  253. us he was tempted. He's been tempted by everything

  254. man can be tempted by, but yet he chose not to,

  255. not to engage in that temptation. So we are trying

  256. to be more like the ultimate champion. And guess

  257. what? When you're born again, you become a new

  258. creature in Christ. The Holy Spirit lives in

  259. you, so you're well equipped to say no and make

  260. a stand. Say no and make a stand. It will be

  261. a blessing in your life. You will be rewarded

  262. for it. You know 1st John 2 15 and through 17

  263. says love not the world neither the things that

  264. are in the world for if any man loves the world

  265. the love of the Father is not in him for all

  266. that is in the world the lust of the flesh the

  267. lust of the eyes and the pride of life is not

  268. of the Father it is not in him but it is of the

  269. world and so when we are lost and undone and

  270. don't know Jesus and haven't received the free

  271. gift of salvation. The devil's got us. I mean

  272. we are children of disobedience and we yield

  273. left and we yield right to temptation. But even

  274. after being born again the tempting doesn't stop.

  275. It keeps coming. But we have to yield to the

  276. Holy Ghost. We have to yield to the power of

  277. God within us. You are well equipped to stand.

  278. God just doesn't want us just to not yield to

  279. temptation. He wants us to be victorious over

  280. it. He wants us to have victory in every area.

  281. He's got blessings lined up for you for every

  282. temptation, for every test. You can't have a

  283. testimony without a test. The trying of our faith.

  284. will come forth as gold. It's just like when

  285. they are breaking down gold, they're trying to

  286. purify it. It goes down in this burning, boiling

  287. fire to burn off all the junk. It gets dipped

  288. down and then all the junk comes to the top,

  289. cleared off, comes out, and guess what? It goes

  290. back in again, purifying. When our love for God

  291. is so pure, We will not want to yield to temptation

  292. because we want to make him happy. We want to

  293. make him happy. You know, James 1, 2 through

  294. 8 says, My brethren, count it all joy when you

  295. fall into diverse temptations or testings, knowing

  296. this, that the trying of your faith works patience.

  297. But let patience have her perfect work that you

  298. may be complete and perfect, entire wanting nothing.

  299. If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God

  300. for God gives all men liberally and does not

  301. hold back and it will be given to him but let

  302. him ask in faith nothing wavering for he that

  303. wavers is like the sea driven tossed to and fro

  304. by the wind for let not that man think he'll

  305. receive anything of the Lord for a double -minded

  306. man is unstable in all his ways. You know if

  307. the devil's been tempting you and you've been

  308. yielding no matter what level of temptation it

  309. is whether it's a tempting to gossip or tempting

  310. to doubt God and his promise or tempted to yield

  311. unto a physical temptation such as sexual immorality

  312. or yield to drug addiction or yield to alcohol

  313. and you've been trying to break that you have

  314. the power of God within you if you are born again

  315. to not go that route anymore because you're a

  316. new creature you're not that old man that old

  317. man has died but it's that lives in you Christ

  318. that lives in you if you need prayer call a friend

  319. if you need to if you need prayer to break that

  320. thing off of you and the power of agreement feel

  321. free to contact us and we'll give you information

  322. later or contact someone you know who knows God

  323. they can pray with you and then say no turn change

  324. your thoughts change your thoughts You've got

  325. to change your habits. So if you're used to doing

  326. something this time of the day and that time

  327. of the day, Go a different route. Get a new hobby.

  328. You've got to allow that addiction to be broken

  329. off your life and fill that void with something

  330. good. Get addicted to something else. Learn a

  331. new language. Read a book. Start jogging. Play

  332. paddle ball. Do something different. But a lot

  333. of temptations are mental. A lot of them are

  334. letting your eyes look at things. Maybe you're

  335. addicted to pornography. Guess what? That's not

  336. of God. And guess what? God has given you victory

  337. and it's available to you if you will yield yourself

  338. and let that go. Let it go. He loves you so much

  339. that he will bless you. He will bless you. He

  340. will bless you. He will bless you. He does not

  341. want us yielding to idolatrous things. And those

  342. are idols. You know, there's a scripture and

  343. it says that all things are Lawful for me, but

  344. not all things are helpful. All things are lawful

  345. for me, but not all things edify. Let no one

  346. seek his own, but each... another's well -being.

  347. In other words, die to that flesh. Crucify that

  348. flesh every day. The Bible says we're to yield

  349. ourselves to the Holy Spirit every day. But you

  350. know why? Because of blessings. Blessings you

  351. cannot out give God. The blessings of God are

  352. too big. We're going to break away to a couple

  353. songs and I'll see you on the other side. The

  354. Lord is my shepherd, there's nothing I need You

  355. lead me to the safest places You lead me to the

  356. safest places To walk in the meadow and lie by

  357. the stream You meet me in the quiet places You

  358. meet me in the quiet places Your goodness and

  359. Your mercy will follow me All the days of my

  360. life All the days of my life And I'll dwell in

  361. Your house for eternity I'll be there by your

  362. side You feel me too You're the shepherd of my

  363. soul You lead me in the right direction My comfort

  364. and my protection You're the shepherd of my soul

  365. Oh, rejoice, take joy, my King, in what take

  366. joy in what you hear and let it be your sweet

  367. sweet all over this room sing we there in your

  368. car he's right there he's right here with me

  369. and he wants you to know he loves you if you've

  370. never accepted Christ and or you want to come

  371. back just pray this prayer dear Jesus forgive

  372. me of my sin I do exalt you you are my Lord and

  373. my Savior I decree it in Jesus name fill me with

  374. your Holy Spirit that I may live victoriously

  375. and be a champion If you prayed that prayer,

  376. you can contact us at championsinchrist3 at gmail

  378. to go out and make it a great day. Know that

  379. God loves you, we love you, and you are a champion

  380. in Christ.
