  1. It's time for the Champions in Christ broadcast

  2. with Rhonda Harrison on 1017 Bay FM. Good morning

  3. and welcome to Champions in Christ. We're so

  4. glad you joined us this morning. This is the

  5. day the Lord has made and we will rejoice and

  6. be glad in it. Hallelujah, hallelujah. What an

  7. awesome God we serve and he loves you today.

  8. I want you to know how much you're valued by

  9. God. He values you. You are worth so much to

  10. him. Way more than can be put into words. His

  11. love for you is so great and it never ever fails.

  12. He's always available. Just call on him. Just

  13. call on his name. Just say Jesus. He's right

  14. there with you. The Bible says he's omnipresent.

  15. That means he is everywhere. your toughest place

  16. whether you're sitting in a hospital right now

  17. whether you're driving in your car whether you

  18. are laying in your bed in your bedroom he is

  19. right there with you just call on him and he'll

  20. come we're going to go in Genesis today and we're

  21. going to talk about Abraham Abraham was an awesome

  22. man of God and he endured some things and was

  23. tested in some big ways and found faithful. So

  24. we're going to talk about one of those times

  25. that God tested him and it's in Genesis, in Genesis

  26. 22 and we're going to start in verse 5, excuse

  27. me, and it says, and Abraham said unto the young

  28. man, abide here with the donkey and I and the

  29. lad will go up yonder and worship and come again

  30. unto you and Abraham took the wood of the burnt

  31. offering and laid it upon Isaac and took the

  32. fire in his hand and the knife and they both

  33. went of them together and Isaac spoke to Abraham.

  34. Isaac was Abraham's promised child that God had

  35. promised him 25 years before he gave him to him

  36. and he had him when he was well past age, him

  37. and his wife were both past age of reproduction.

  38. So God caused their reproductive organs to live

  39. again. and he planted the seed and thus through

  40. Sarah, Isaac was born. And it was 25 years after

  41. he received the promise for God. So sometimes

  42. when we hear a promise from heaven, sometimes

  43. it's years before that promise is fulfilled,

  44. sometimes it's fulfilled rather quickly. But

  45. in this case, it caused Abraham and Sarah to

  46. have to believe and trust God and they did. We

  47. won't go into that story today, but this is how

  48. Isaac and Isaac became. So Abraham knew God,

  49. he knew his ways, he knew that God was faithful

  50. to what he said. Whatever God says he'll do,

  51. he will do. And so God, in the beginning of this

  52. chapter, God had tested Abraham and he wanted

  53. him. He said, I want you to take your son, your

  54. only son that you love and I want you to take

  55. him to the land of Moriah. This is in verse two

  56. and offer him there as a burnt offering upon

  57. one of the mountains which I'll tell you. And

  58. so Abraham took his son and here they go. They're

  59. starting to walk up that mountain with the things

  60. they need for the sacrifice. And Isaac, said

  61. unto Abraham his father my father here am I said

  62. he said my son and he said behold the fire in

  63. the wood but where is the lamb for the burnt

  64. offering he was familiar with burnt offerings

  65. because back in the day you had to do offerings

  66. sacrificial offerings of animals for for all

  67. kinds of things especially son And so Abraham

  68. said, my son, God will provide himself a lamb

  69. for that burnt offering. So they went both of

  70. them together. So Abraham didn't tell Isaac,

  71. well, guess what? You're the offering. God's

  72. asked me to sacrifice you. That would have totally

  73. flipped him out. You know, he had to really know

  74. he heard from God when this instruction came

  75. because it was so out of the ordinary for God

  76. to ask. for Abraham to sacrifice his son or anybody

  77. to sacrifice their son but God wanted to test

  78. Abraham's heart to see what was in it and so

  79. Abraham knew God well enough to knew if God's

  80. asking me to do something he's got a plan so

  81. let's keep reading verse 9 and they came to the

  82. place which God had told them of and Abraham

  83. built an altar there and laid the wood in order

  84. and bound Isaac his son and laid him on the altar

  85. upon the wood and Abraham stretched forth his

  86. hand and took the knife to slay his son and the

  87. angel of the Lord called out to him out of heaven

  88. and said Abraham Abraham and he said here am

  89. I and he said lay not your hand upon that lad

  90. neither do you anything to him for now I know

  91. that you fear God seeing that you not you have

  92. not withheld your son your only son from me and

  93. Abraham lifted up his eyes and looked and behold

  94. there was a ram caught in the thicket by the

  95. horns and Abraham went and took the ram and offered

  96. him as a burnt offering instead of his son and

  97. Abraham called the name of the place Jehovah

  98. Jireh as it's being said today in the mount in

  99. which the Lord had seen and it means the Lord

  100. will see or provide you know this is a amazing

  101. story and if it happened today no one on earth

  102. would ever believe God told a man to sacrifice

  103. his son but no one would ever believe God a lot

  104. of people don't believe that he tells people

  105. things that he tells them today but he does why

  106. because he tests our faith you know in James

  107. it talks about counted on joy when you fall into

  108. various trials or testings. Why? Because God

  109. is trying your faith. He's wanting to know, do

  110. you love that thing more than you love me? Do

  111. you really love me? You say you love me, you

  112. say you want to obey me, but do you really? Are

  113. you willing to give up? If I ask you for that

  114. thing that you love so much, are you willing

  115. to give it up? Are you willing to let it go?

  116. You know, God never never ask us to do something

  117. that he doesn't already have a reward for. Remember

  118. Hebrews 11 6, he that comes to God must believe

  119. that he is and that he is a rewarder of those

  120. that diligently seek him. Abraham was one that

  121. diligently sought him and saw his faithfulness

  122. and so he continued to obey him and guess what

  123. because he did this he told him he went on to

  124. tell him if we go on down to verse 15 it says

  125. and the angel of the Lord called unto Abraham

  126. out of heaven a second time and said by myself

  127. have I sworn says the Lord for because you have

  128. done this and you have not withheld your son

  129. your only son The blessing that in the blessing

  130. I will bless you and multiplying I will multiply

  131. your seed as the stars of the heaven and as the

  132. sand which is upon the seashore and your seed

  133. shall possess the gate of his enemies and In

  134. that seed shall all nations of the earth be blessed

  135. because you have obeyed my voice Wow, you know

  136. in our obedience there's always reward always

  137. reward and Isaac was a seed and praise God through

  138. the lineage as time went on Jesus was that seed

  139. he was talking about that all of the earth will

  140. be blessed and it came through that line praise

  141. the Lord but Abraham was faithful he obeyed the

  142. voice of God and praise God he continued on to

  143. obey him in his life you know let's go into Hebrews

  144. they also um Hebrews 11 also mentions Abraham

  145. in this instance it's Hebrews 11 17 through 19

  146. it says by faith Abraham when he was tested offered

  147. up Isaac he and he that had received the promises

  148. offered up his only begotten son of whom it was

  149. said that Isaac shall be your seed called, accounting

  150. that God was able to raise him up even from the

  151. dead from whence also he received him in a figure."

  152. Hallelujah. Abraham knew that even if he had

  153. to slay Isaac, even if God would not have said,

  154. stop Abraham, don't put the knife to Isaac. He

  155. knew he would have raised him from the dead,

  156. why? Why did he know that in his heart? Because

  157. he knew that God was faithful. He knew God would

  158. not go back on his word. You know, the Bible

  159. says that God will not alter his word, nor will

  160. he break the covenant in which he has with us.

  161. Hallelujah. That's an outstanding scripture that

  162. we can stand on and we can trust in, right? There's

  163. a scripture in 1 Samuel, it says obedience is

  164. better than sacrifice. Why does it say that?

  165. because it's better to obey God and receive a

  166. promise than not to obey and have to repent and

  167. go through that and not receive the reward, right?

  168. So we get a reward every time we obey. Faith

  169. without works is dead. Those works is our obedience.

  170. Faith is the believing. Yes, many say they believe.

  171. Even the devils believe and tremble. They believe

  172. God is God, but they're not going to call him

  173. Lord. They're not going to trust him or obey

  174. him. But guess what? We are because we're his

  175. children. and He loves you so much today. His

  176. love for you never ever ends, never ends. And

  177. if we disobey Him, thank God for repentance.

  178. Thank God for the blood of the Lamb of Jesus

  179. Christ. Thank God that God was faithful to send

  180. His only begotten Son and sacrifice Him. He became

  181. the sacrifice, a living sacrifice, and thank

  182. God He rose from the dead and He's seated at

  183. the right hand of the and has sent us the Holy

  184. Spirit, hallelujah, the power of God, the third

  185. person of the Trinity to help us live victorious.

  186. And that's why if you trust in Jesus, you immediately

  187. become a champion because God already has everything

  188. you need. He equips you with the power. of God

  189. through his love the Holy Spirit empowers us

  190. to live out this life victoriously. So we want

  191. to allow that testing to come and that the trying

  192. of our faith because that trying of our faith

  193. and James says it works patience and let patience

  194. have a perfect work in you wanting nothing. He

  195. wants us to have perfect patience and completeness

  196. in him through trusting him. And that's what

  197. Abraham was doing throughout his life. And it

  198. was exciting. And there's someone, we're gonna

  199. go to 1 Kings chapter 13, and we're gonna see

    1 Kings 13 chapter mention

  200. a different person. And this person is not named.

  201. His name does not appear in the Word. But in

  202. 1 Kings 13, It says, and behold, there came a

  203. man of God out of Judah by the word of the Lord

  204. unto Bethel, and Jeroboam stood by the altar

  205. to burn incense. And he cried against the altar

  206. in a word of the Lord and said, O altar, altar,

  207. thus saith the Lord, behold, a child shall be

  208. born in the house of David, Hosea by name, and

  209. upon... And it came to pass when the King Jeroboam

  210. heard the saying of the man of God when he cried

  211. against the altar in Bethel, and he put forth

  212. his hand from the altar saying lay hold of him

  213. and his hand that was put forth against him dried

  214. up and he could not pull it out again and the

  215. altar was rent and the ashes poured out from

  216. the altar according to the sign from the man

  217. of god had given by the word of the lord and

  218. the king answered and said unto the man of god

  219. entreat now the face of the lord pray for me

  220. pray that my hand would be restored and the man

  221. of god sought the Lord and the king's hand was

  222. restored and became as it was before. And the

  223. king said unto the man of God, Come home with

  224. me and refresh yourself and I will give you a

  225. reward. And the man of God said unto the king,

  226. You will give me half of your house. I would

  227. not go with you. Neither would I eat bread nor

  228. drink water in this place. For so it was told

  229. to me by the word of the Lord, eat no bread or

  230. drink no water nor turn again by the same way

  231. that you came." So okay, so this is a situation

  232. where this is a prophet of God and the Lord has

  233. spoken him to go speak against this altar and

  234. he goes and does it. The king gets upset. and

  235. he tries to tell them, reach out, and he reaches

  236. out his hand, his hand dries up because this

  237. is a sign and a wonder that the Lord's word is

  238. coming to pass. And then he asks the man of God

  239. to pray, God restores the man's hand, but the

  240. king wants to bless him. But he had already been

  241. instructed by the Lord, the man of God had, to

  242. not eat and to not drink, and to not go back

  243. the same way he came. So he went another way,

  244. it says, and he didn't return by the way he came

  245. to Bethel. So at this point he's still obeying

  246. God, right? He did not go back, he did not eat,

  247. did not drink, did not take what the king had

  248. offered. But let's continue. Now there dwelt

  249. an old prophet in Bethel, and his sons came and

  250. told him all the works that the man of God had

  251. done that day in Bethel, the words which he had

  252. spoken unto the king. And they told it all to

  253. their father. And their father said, which way

  254. did he go? For his sons have seen the way the

  255. man of God went when he came from Judah. And

  256. he said unto his sons, saddle me up a donkey.

  257. And they saddled him up and he rode thereon.

  258. And he went after the man of God and found him

  259. sitting under an oak tree. So this old prophet

  260. went seeking this younger man. And he said, are

  261. you the man of God that came from Judah? And

  262. he said, I am. And he said, well come home with

  263. me and eat bread. And the man said, I may not

  264. return with thee nor go with you, neither will

  265. I eat. bread or drink water with you in this

  266. place for it was told to me by the word of the

  267. lord you shall eat no bread drink no water nor

  268. turn again to go by the way that you came so

  269. he again is reaffirming the word that the lord

  270. told him so he's still trying to obey the lord

  271. and he said unto him I am a prophet also as you

  272. are. This is the older man speaking and an angel

  273. spoken to me by the word of the Lord saying bring

  274. him back with you into your house that he may

  275. eat bread and drink water but he lied to him.

  276. So this was an old prophet who obviously was

  277. not right with God and he lied to this young

  278. prophet and was telling him oh but an angel came

  279. and told me So he went back and did eat bread

  280. in his house and drink water. So this young prophet

  281. went or younger prophet went ahead and went back

  282. with this old prophet. He believed what he said

  283. and he followed it. You know we are never to

  284. follow man's instruction. We're to follow God.

  285. So if even if a prophet of God like this one

  286. spoke to this man and said oh but I an angel

  287. told me and he lied. You know if it doesn't bear

  288. witness with you your spirit, the Holy Spirit

  289. in you when you are born again, the Holy Spirit

  290. is your guide. That peace in your heart is your

  291. guide. And whatever someone says, thus sayeth

  292. the Lord to you. And there are prophets today,

  293. apostles, there... pastors or people who can

  294. prophesy, that is true. But if it doesn't line

  295. up with the word and it doesn't line up with

  296. the word God has spoken to you about your life

  297. in that time period, don't follow it and don't

  298. agree. This young prophet did follow it. He went

  299. back to his house ate the bread and drank the

  300. water and it came to pass as they sat at the

  301. table the word of the Lord came unto the prophet

  302. that brought him back and he cried unto the man

  303. of God that came from Judah saying thus saith

  304. the Lord for as much as you have disobeyed the

  305. mouth of the Lord and did not keep the commandment

  306. which the Lord commanded you but you came back

  307. and you ate bread and you drank water in this

  308. place in which the Lord said to you eat no bread

  309. drink no water your carcass will not shall not

  310. come unto the sepulcher of the fathers and it

  311. came to pass after he had eaten and after he

  312. drank he saddled him up a donkey for the prophet

  313. to whom he brought back and when he was gone

  314. a lion met him by the way and slew him and his

  315. carcass was cast by the way and the donkey stood

  316. by it and the lion stood by the carcass. and

  317. behold men passed by and saw the carcass cast

  318. by the way and the lion by the carcass and they

  319. came and told in the city where the old prophet

  320. dwelt and when the prophet brought him back from

  321. the way he heard he said it is the man of God

  322. who was disobedient unto the word of the Lord

  323. therefore the Lord had delivered him into the

  324. lion and torn him and slain him according to

  325. the word of the Lord which he spoke to him and

  326. so you know here he is And here he has this young

  327. man and the young man died because of his disobedience.

  328. So I just say to you again, just hear the voice

  329. of God by spending time with him, reading his

  330. word, following his word. and we won't have to

  331. worry about this right we want to yield to the

  332. Lord and thank God for repentance thank God for

  333. the blood thank God for deliverance thank God

  334. for his restoring reconciling power because he

  335. does do that we know that by Peter's life remember

  336. Peter denied Christ three times and Jesus prophesied

  337. to him he told him you're going before the cock

  338. crows you're going to deny me three times and

  339. Peter did deny him this is new to Now and Peter

  340. was one of his disciples Peter preached the gospel

  341. preach Peter laid hands on the sick He saw the

  342. miracles he did it all and yet he denied him,

  343. but Jesus did reaffirm him and said and made

  344. him reaffirm it in Luke 22, 54 through 62. And

  345. he made him go back and said, do you love me?

  346. The same three times he denied him, he came back

  347. and asked him, do you love me? And told him,

  348. feed my sheep, feed my lambs, feed my lambs.

  349. And so he reaffirmed him and Peter's heart was

  350. again repentive and converted back. And God used

  351. him mightily, mightily. And so I just want to

  352. say to you, there is repentance if you've disobeyed.

  353. There is forgiveness. There is restoration. God

  354. can put you on that new path again today. So

  355. we're going to listen to a couple of songs and

  356. I'm going to come right back at you in just a

  357. moment. and circles with no place to go. Is there

  358. a person in the mirror you don't even know? Someone

  359. still sees who you are. Were you the kid that

  360. was a dreamer now you don't believe? Are you

  361. the lock that got so broken now you lost the

  362. key? treasure that you really are if you could

  363. understand the measure of the father's heart

  364. he loves you he loves you he loves you fall in

  365. his arms and let him wash you clean he'll tear

  366. off the chains so that you Jesus name With the

  367. shade of back into the arms of God. You know,

  368. God's married to the backslider and I'm talking

  369. to you today. If you have walked away from God,

  370. if you've disobeyed Him and you want to get right

  371. with Him, pray this prayer with me. It's simple.

  372. I mean it from your heart. Dear Heavenly Father,

  373. I just ask you to forgive me, cleanse me, restore

  374. me right with you. I repent of my sin. I renounce

  375. the things of the world, and I yield to you.

  376. I give myself to you, spirit, soul, and body,

  377. in Jesus' name, amen. If you prayed that prayer

  378. today and you've been restored to the right place

  379. with God, I want you to just thank God for his

  380. goodness, praise him. I want you to go to a Bible

  381. -believing church that believes the whole counts

  382. of God, begin reading your word and getting to

  383. know him again. You are restored and forgiven

  384. and valued. He loves you so much. If you'd like

  385. a new Bible, you can get in touch with us at
