  1. It's time for the Champions in Christ broadcast

  2. with Rhonda Harrison on 1017 Bay FM. Good morning

  3. and welcome to Champions in Christ. We're so

  4. glad you're joining us today on this beautiful

  5. day. It's beautiful because God loves you. He

  6. loves you more than you could ever think or imagine.

  7. His love just is overflowing. to you and to me

  8. and to all those that were created by him. Every

  9. person on the earth was created by God. He breathed

  10. life into a body and then we were created, praise

  11. God. And we know that God loves you today. He

  12. loves me today and I'm so thankful for that love.

  13. There is no greater love than the love of God.

  14. And God loves so much the world that he gave

  15. his only begotten son, Jesus Christ, that whosoever

  16. believes in him would not perish but have eternal

  17. life. Praise God. And you know, God entrusted

  18. that message of his love with the... with the

  19. men of God who wrote the Bible and they were

  20. inspired by the Holy Spirit. It's not man's writing.

  21. It's God writing through man. You know, in the

  22. book of Acts, Paul mentions this about the message

  23. of his grace that's able to build you up and

  24. give you an inheritance with all those who has

  25. he has set apart for himself. He there is no

  26. person on the planet that he does not want relationship

  27. with. He wants relationship with you today. That

  28. grace comes out of the outflow of his love. What

  29. do you mean? Love is grace. It's mercy. It's

  30. kindness, it's gentleness, it's long -suffering,

  31. it's all the things the Bible tells us love is,

  32. but grace, grace is something he gives. It's

  33. unmerited favor. We don't deserve it, but he

  34. gave it to us anyway. You know, when a child

  35. is born in the earth, the parents look at that

  36. child and there's nothing but love. Why? Because

  37. they created that being, you know, through science.

  38. the egg and the sperm, they created that baby.

  39. And that baby's going to grow up. And those parents

  40. are thrilled to raise that child and be teaching

  41. them. And, you know, that's the way God is. When

  42. He created man, He wanted someone to fellowship

  43. with. He wanted to raise us up. He still does.

  44. As babies are born every minute of every day,

  45. He wants us raised up to know Him. You know,

  46. but the enemy had another plan. And what we're

  47. going to talk about today is God's grace and

  48. just how it just never stops. In every circumstance,

  49. in every situation, God's grace, His mercy and

  50. His love is there for you. And it's for me. But

  51. we have to want it. We have to say, yes, Lord.

  52. And so we're going to start. We're going to start

  53. in second Kings and we're going to go to chapter

  54. six. We're going to tell us a short story. about

  55. God's grace. And it starts out in verse one,

  56. it says, one day a group of the prophets came

  57. to Elijah and told him, as you see, this place

  58. where we meet you is too small. Let us go down

  59. to the Jordan River, where there are plenty of

  60. logs. There we can build a new place for us to

  61. meet. All right, he told him, go ahead. Please

  62. come with us, somebody said. I will. So he went

  63. with them. And when they arrived at the Jordan,

  64. they began cutting down trees. But as one of

  65. them was cutting down a tree, his axe fell into

  66. the, his axe head fell into the river. And he

  67. said, Oh, sir, he cried. It was borrowed acts.

  68. And he's talking to Elisha again. You know, they're

  69. there to build this new place that they have

  70. a bigger area to meet. This was the sons of the

  71. prophets. And so these people knew God. They

  72. were learning of God. Of course, the Holy Spirit

  73. did not live within them, but he was upon them

  74. and led them by the spirit. And so they're there.

  75. And Elisha is. They had over all of these profits.

  76. And so this profit came and said, oh, my ex had

  77. fell in the water. It was borrowed. and immediately

  78. Elisha's compassion he didn't even blink he said

  79. where did it fall the man of God asked and it

  80. goes on and says when he showed the place Elisha

  81. cut a stick threw it in the water at the spot

  82. and the axe had floated to the surface grab it

  83. Elisha said the man reached out and grabbed it

  84. wow I mean in that instance because the man of

  85. God spoke the word of God through compassion

  86. and through love. God's love never fails and

  87. God's power works through love. because faith

  88. works by love. And so this man ran to Elijah

  89. the same way we're to run to God when we need

  90. him. This wasn't a physical healing he needed.

  91. It wasn't the salvation of his soul. It wasn't

  92. any of those things. It was something that can

  93. happen to any of us. You know, something breaks

  94. or something becomes missing that we borrowed.

  95. and he borrowed that axe to help and that axe

  96. fell in, but he ran to the man of God. You know,

  97. when we run to God, he's there every time and

  98. immediately will answer us the same way Elisha

  99. immediately answered. You know, you may not feel

  100. like your answer is there, but it's already there.

  101. Just keep trusting him. Keep trusting him. It's

  102. there. Jesus, you know, he saw the man's desperation

  103. through Elisha, you know, and Elisha showed Jesus's

  104. compassion to the man you know because Elisha

  105. is God's servant and he knew the power of God

  106. because he had been following around Elijah all

  107. those years before Elijah was translated which

  108. was another supernatural act of God and here

  109. God defies physics and brings this axe to the

  110. surface and it floats and then they were able

  111. to get it you know God will will he will Go anywhere

  112. any place to meet you to bring you to the place

  113. of victory When you're in a circumstance if you'll

  114. call on him, you know, this man humbled himself.

  115. He didn't say oh, well there goes an axe I'll

  116. just have to tell so -and -so, you know, who

  117. knows what the story is behind that axe. We don't

  118. get pretty we're not privy to that information,

  119. but You know, it was important to that man. Maybe

  120. it was just important to his integrity to return

  121. something he borrowed. I don't know, but God's

  122. grace and his mercy was there. You know, God's

  123. grace is there for, like I said, every circumstance,

  124. every situation. Let's go ahead and turn to Luke.

  125. We're going to talk in another story. We're going

  126. to go in Luke 22 and we're going to come to the

  127. place where they're about to arrest Jesus. Jesus

  128. is on the earth. He's been telling people about

  129. the love of God and healing the sick and raising

  130. the dead and delivering man from everything that

  131. you can imagine. For all that came to him, he

  132. answered them and it happened right then. He's

  133. a now God. Faith is now. It is now. And so use

  134. your faith today. Humble yourself. Go to him.

  135. Believe him. You know, it says the whole work

  136. of God is to believe. That's what we're to do.

  137. Believe and trust his word is true. You know,

  138. Satan tempted. That's how he tempted Adam and

  139. Eve by getting them to question what God told

  140. them. God doesn't lie. His word is the truth.

  141. You can take it to the bank. Let's go on and

  142. in we're going to go we're in Luke chapter 22.

    Luke 22 chapter mention

  143. We're going to go to verse 47. And in this verse,

  144. it says even Jesus. a crowd approach led by Judas

  145. one of the twelve disciples and Judas walked

  146. over to Jesus to greet him and with a kiss back

  147. then they greeted each other kissing each other

  148. on the cheek with a holy kiss and it's still

  149. done today in many countries and when the other

  150. decide and when Jesus said to him Judas would

  151. you betray the son of man with a kiss? You know,

  152. Jesus knew he was coming. He prophesied it earlier

  153. to the disciples. He knew Judas was going to

  154. betray him and but he speaks to him and then

  155. it says when the others disciples saw. what was

  156. about to happen they exclaimed Lord should we

  157. fight we brought our swords we will fight and

  158. immediately one of one of the disciples struck

  159. the high priest slave slashing off his right

  160. ear. Oh no here goes here goes the disciples

  161. again and in another. another book it does say

  162. it was Peter John I mean Luke didn't reveal it

  163. was Peter here but in another book of the Gospels

  164. it Peter you know Peter's bold and he wanted

  165. to defend his Lord he loves him but he didn't

  166. understand that Christ came to die for Peter

  167. he came to die for you and to die for me he took

  168. those sins on the cross that we would not live

  169. in detriment and despair and discouragement and

  170. defilement. He came that we would have life and

  171. life abundantly. And so Jesus, immediately it

  172. says in verse 50, and the one of them was struck

  173. the high priest slave slashing off his ears,

  174. but Jesus said, no more of this. He touched the

  175. man's ear and healed him. Jesus replaced that

  176. ear immediately again he defies everything in

  177. the natural with his supernatural power and that

  178. power was by the love and compassion even though

  179. Jesus was in the midst of getting arrested he

  180. wasn't thinking about himself he's always thinking

  181. about you and me he's always got you and me on

  182. his mind he immediately restored that slaves

  183. ear that slave could have lost that ear for life

  184. that's what would happen if you or I got sliced

  185. and we didn't know the power of God. But that

  186. same power that was available then is available

  187. now. It's available now for you and for me. And

  188. this man, whatever your need today, maybe you're

  189. hurting. Maybe you've lost a loved one. Maybe

  190. that pain is real. You know, when we lose a loved

  191. one, the pain is there because we miss them.

  192. When you're born again, Christian, and you lose

  193. a loved one, and I have many. That pain is real.

  194. But you know, when you're a Christian, you know

  195. what the hope of glory is. You know Jesus has

  196. a plan. You know one day you'll be in heaven

  197. restored with that loved one again. So we don't

  198. have to dread that it's over when it's over.

  199. It's not over. Death is not the end. Death is

  200. a doorway. And death will bring us either to

  201. life everlasting, in Christ in heaven or it'll

  202. bring us to hell and that's our choice and we'll

  203. talk more about that in a minute. But God's grace

  204. and his mercy is always there for you whatever

  205. your situation. Again, remember his love for

  206. you never fails. The Bible says love never fails.

  207. The Bible says God is love. He is love. He is

  208. the goodness and the grace and the glory of God

  209. draped over your life. He will fill you to overflow.

  210. You know, we're going to go into the book of

  211. John and we're going. Oh, no, we'll just keep

  212. going in Luke right here. We'll turn over to

  213. verse. I mean chapter 54. I'm sorry, not chapter

  214. 54, there's not a chapter 54. Verse 54, if I

  215. get my words right today. Peter, this is talking

  216. about when after they had already taken Jesus

  217. away to begin that road of Via della Rosa. It

  218. says, so they arrested Jesus and led him to the

  219. high priest's home and Peter, Followed at a distance,

  220. the guards lit a fire in the middle of the courtyard

  221. and sat around and Peter joined him there. A

  222. servant girl noticed him in the fire light and

  223. began staring at him. And finally she said, this

  224. man was one of Jesus's followers, but Peter.

  225. Peter the same one that served Jesus when he

  226. was on the earth the same one that received Jesus

  227. and was flowing in his power helping people to

  228. be healed and set free and delivered and cast

  229. out demons that same Peter. In this instant as

  230. Jesus was taken away and he's standing by this

  231. fire. And this woman sees him and says, you are

  232. one of Jesus's followers. What does he do? He

  233. said, no, I'm not. Wow. Wow. And about an hour

  234. later, someone else insisted, this must be the

  235. one of them because he's a Galilean. But Peter

  236. said, man, I don't know what you're talking about.

  237. And immediately, while he was still speaking,

  238. The crow the rooster crowed why because Peter

  239. denied him three times the same way Jesus. Spoke

  240. to him and said you're going to deny me three

  241. times. But and Peter did and it goes on to say.

  242. Peter left the courtyard weeping bitterly he

  243. was weeping bitterly he was. despondent. He just

  244. was so broken that he had did exactly. He never

  245. thought he would deny Jesus, but at this point

  246. in time, the Holy Spirit could not live inside

  247. of us because Jesus had not died and resurrected.

  248. Because that's a promise of God. Jesus said when

  249. I go to heaven, I'm going to send you the comforter.

  250. I'm going to send you the power. I'm going to

  251. send you the Holy Spirit that will live in you

  252. be with you and all around you that you can have

  253. a successful and victorious life on the earth.

  254. Glory to God. And so both we pick up this story

  255. in John chapter 21 verse 14. This is where Jesus

    John 21:14

  256. after he dies and comes back. to the earth before

  257. he ascends into heaven. He had been seen of the

  258. disciples already a couple of times and in verse

  259. 14 it says, This was the third time Jesus appeared

  260. to his disciples since he had been raised from

  261. the dead. And after breakfast, Jesus asked Simon,

  262. he said, Simon, son of John, do you love me more

  263. than these? And Simon being Peter said, yes,

  264. Lord, Peter replied, you know, I love you. And

  265. he's Jesus said, then feed my lambs. Jesus repeated

  266. the question, Simon, son of John, do you love

  267. me? And Peter said, Yes, Lord, you know, I love

  268. you. And he said, Then take care of my sheep,

  269. said Jesus a third time. He said, Simon, son

  270. of John, do you love me? And Peter was hurt that

  271. Jesus asked him a third time. And he said, Lord,

  272. you know everything. You know, I love you. And

  273. Jesus said, Then feed my sheep. You know, Jesus

  274. was reaffirming those three denials that he did.

  275. He reaffirmed him. And by him saying, yes, I

  276. love you. Yes, I love you the same way. If we

  277. sin, if we've been walking with Jesus, no matter

  278. how long you've known him, maybe you've walked

  279. with him your whole life. Maybe you you accept

  280. as him as Lord and Savior as a young child, but

  281. you stray. It's OK. He'll restore you when you

  282. return to him. He'll restore you. He loves you

  283. so much. He desires relationship, not religion.

  284. Religion is not relationship. People call Christianity

  285. religion. It's not. It's a life in Christ. It's

  286. a life in Christ. Religion just buries you in

  287. condemnation and fear and doubt and unbelief.

  288. But Jesus brings life and faith and health and

  289. He loves you today. That grace is available for

  290. you. The mercy is available to you. No matter

  291. what life has dealt you, no matter what your

  292. background, what your race, what your creed,

  293. God loves you and His grace is there. No matter

  294. how long you've been away from Him, He's still

  295. waiting on you like the prodigal son. Shake yourself,

  296. get out of the pit and say, What am I doing here?

  297. I need my father. I need Jesus. And he will wrap

  298. his arms around you. Bless you just like the

  299. prodigal son. He'll bless you with a robe, the

  300. ring, and the fatted calf. His grace is so good.

  301. He'll fill you with so much joy. There's a scripture

  302. in the Bible that says, laughter does good like

  303. a medicine. Matter of fact, there's a song we're

  304. going to play today that talks about that laughter

  305. does good. He'll fill you with so much joy. You're

  306. going to overflow with laughter. You're going

  307. to laugh in the midst of the storm, but not.

  308. not in a bad way. You're going to laugh because

  309. you know Jesus has already won. You know it's

  310. victorious. You know He'll help you. You know

  311. He'll take care of you. He loves you so much.

  312. So listen to this couple of songs about His grace

  313. and His laughter. We'll come right back to you

  314. in just a moment. I've done wrong. Mercy help

  315. me see I've been living a lie. I've done wrong.

  316. Mercy help me see I've been living a lie. I'm

  317. writing a song, singing about your goodness.

  318. I started to cry. I'm writing a song, singing

  319. about your goodness. I started to cry. Try and

  320. sing while you're spiritually down You know,

  321. Psalms 5112 says, restore to me the joy of my

  322. salvation. Uphold me with your willing spirit.

  323. I thank God for the joy of our salvation. I thank

  324. God that I have that peace in the midst of every

  325. storm, every angry storm. We can laugh and we

  326. can have joy knowing God's already got it covered.

  327. Why? Because He loves you and me so much. So

  328. right now, if you have strayed, if you've not

  329. walked with him in a while, or maybe you've never

  330. walked with him, pray this prayer with me. Say,

  331. Dear Jesus, I receive you as my Lord and Savior.

  332. Forgive me of my sin. I know I have sinned, but

  333. I renounce that sin, and I just give my life

  334. to you right now in Jesus' name. Fill me with

  335. your Holy Spirit. Fill me with this strength

  336. and this joy. I trust you. In Jesus' name, amen.

  337. If you prayed that prayer today, I want to tell

  338. you you've been forgiven. I want to tell you

  339. God loves you. I want to explain to you that

  340. God's Word is life to you and health to every

  341. bit of your flesh. So get that Bible. Read it.

  342. Find a good church that preaches the whole counsel

  343. of God. has the power of God flowing in there,

  344. and you'll find life and strength and victory.
