Episode 15 - Ladies Bible Class

All right, Oak Ridge friends and family, this

is David here and we are with the ladies Bible

class from Thursday mornings and they are going

to be recording the third Sunday of Advent readings

today. But before we do, do you all have an element

that points you to Christ that you'd like to

share? I was going to say that I really like

the song. Mary, did you know that song really,

you know, as a mom really speaks to me as Mary.

Mary's experience as being the mom of Jesus is

really impactful to me. Like a lot of our memories

come back to sense. And when I think of holiday

season and the advent of Christmas. I think about

cinnamon and how cinnamon scents in our homes

is very comforting and exciting as well as in

our foods that we prepare for those special gatherings

with friends and family. Speaking of scents,

we used to go caroling. I had a church -wide

caroling and so we had the music of Christmas

is so meaningful and brings joy to people and

one time I was sick, very very ill when I was

pregnant and had carolers come to me and sing.

And it touched my heart in such a deep, deep

way, brought that spirit to me. I always look

forward to attending a performance of the Messiah

at Weatherford College. The first time I heard

that, it was just so inspiring. And now that's

a yearly tradition I look forward to. Going and

looking at lights was a family tradition growing

up. And lights always instilled in me peace or

excitement of the season. And the fact that Christ

is The same is the light of the world. Awesome.

Alright, now let's let the Word of God speak

to our people. The glory of Lebanon shall be

given to it, the majesty of Carmel and Sharon.

They shall see the glory of the Lord, the majesty

of our God. Strengthen the weak hands and make

firm the feeble knees. Say to those who are of

a fearful heart, be strong, do not fear. Here

is your God. He will come with vengeance and

terrible recompense. He will come and save you.

Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and

the ears of the deaf shall be opened, and the

lame shall leap like a deer, and the tongue of

the speechless sing for joy. For water shall

break forth in the wilderness and streams in

the desert. The burning sand shall become a pool

and the thirsty ground springs of water. The

haunt of jackals shall become a swamp. The grass

shall become reeds and rushes. A highway shall

be there, and it shall be called the Holy Way.

The unclean shall not travel on it, but it shall

be for God's people. No traveler, not even fools,

shall go astray. No lion shall be there, nor

shall any ravenous beast come upon it. They shall

not be found there, but the redeemed shall walk

there. And the ransomed of the Lord shall return

and come to Zion with singing everlasting joy

shall be upon their hands they shall obtain joy

and gladness the sorrow and sighing shall flee

away psalm 146 verses 5 through 10 happy are

those whose help is the god of jacob whose hope

is in the lord their god who made heaven and

earth the sea and all that is in them, who keeps

faith forever, who executes justice for the oppressed,

who gives food to the hungry. The Lord sets the

prisoners free. The Lord opens the eyes of the

blind. The Lord lifts up those who are bowed

down. The Lord loves the righteous. The Lord

watches over the strangers. He upholds the orphan.

and the widow, but the way of the wicked he brings

to ruin. The Lord will reign forever, your God,

O Zion, for all generations. Praise the Lord.

Surely from now on all generations will call

me Blessed for the mighty one has done great

things for me and holy is the name indeed His

mercy is for those who fear him from generation

to generation He has shown strength with his

arm. He has scattered the proud in the imagination

of their hearts He has brought down the powerful

from their thrones and lifted up the lowly He

has filled the hungry with good things and sent

the rich away empty. He has come to the aid of

his child Israel in remembrance of his mercy

according to the promise he made to our ancestors,

to Abraham and to his descendants forever. James

James 5:7–10

5 verses 7 through 10. Be patient therefore brothers

and sisters until the coming of the Lord. The

disciples were leaving, Jesus began to speak

to the crowd about John. What did you go out

into the desert to see? A reed swayed by the

wind? If not, what did you go out to see? A man

dressed in fine clothes? No, those who wear fine

clothes are in king's palaces. Then what did

you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you

and more than a prophet. This is the one about

whom it is written I will send my messenger ahead

of you who will prepare your way before you I

tell you the truth among those born of women

there has not risen anyone greater than John

the Baptist Yet he who is least in the kingdom

of heaven is greater than he
