  1. Hello Oak Ridge family and friends. This is David

  2. here with Carol Powell and Jerry Brooks today.

  3. Hello, this is Jerry Brooks and thinking about

  4. Christmas the time of the season I'm taking back

  5. to when I was a kid and when all of the family

  6. used to get together and we had a lot of family

  7. usually on my dad's side that would come together

  8. here in Texas. My mom's part of the family of

  9. course was out of state so they rarely made it.

  10. for Christmas, but we always had all the cousins

  11. and uncles and aunts and my grandparents. We'd

  12. all get together usually on the family farm.

  13. And Christmas Eve usually was for the immediate

  14. family only, just my parents and my siblings

  15. and myself. And then Christmas Day would be all

  16. of the family and had some really good cooks

  17. in my family. My aunts, my grandma and my mom

  18. were all really good cooks. So we always had

  19. good food to eat. But the main thing about it

  20. was that I appreciate was the fact that that

  21. was always a time of being together and we always

  22. remembered the love that Christ had for us and

  23. we always tried to remember the birth of Christ.

  24. On Christmas Eve a lot of times my dad would

  25. read the Christmas story or one of us would read

  26. it but we always stopped to think about the change

  27. in our world that came from Christ and his birth.

  28. I will be reading Ezekiel 47 verses 1 through

    Ezekiel 47:1–12

  29. 12 and this will come from the NIV, and this

  30. is part of Ezekiel's prophecy that deals with

  31. the river coming from the temple. Starting in

  32. verse 1, the man brought me back to the entrance

  33. to the temple and I saw the water coming out

  34. from under the threshold of the temple toward

  35. the east, for the temple faced east. The water

  36. was coming down from under the south side of

  37. the temple south of the altar. He then brought

  38. me out through the north gate and led me around

  39. the outside to the outer gate facing east. The

  40. water was trickling from the south side. As the

  41. man went eastward with a measuring line in his

  42. hand, he measured off a thousand cubits, then

  43. led me through the water that was ankle deep.

  44. He measured off another thousand cubits and led

  45. me through water that was knee deep. He measured

  46. off another thousand and led me through water

  47. that was up to the waist. He measured off another

  48. thousand, but now it was a river I could not

  49. cross because the water had risen. and was deep

  50. enough to swim in, a river that no one could

  51. cross. He asked me, son of man, do you see this?

  52. Then he led me back to the bank of the river.

  53. When I arrived there, I saw a great number of

  54. trees on each side of the river. He said to me,

  55. this water flows towards Eastern region and goes

  56. down into the Arapah, where it enters the Dead

  57. Sea. When it empties into the sea, the salty

  58. water there becomes fresh. Swarms of living creatures

  59. will live wherever the river flows. There will

  60. be large numbers of fish because this water flows

  61. there and makes the salt water fresh. So where

  62. the river flows, everything will live. Fishermen

  63. will stand along the shore from Engedi to Egline

  64. and there will be places for spreading nets.

  65. The fish will be of many kinds like the fish

  66. of the Mediterranean Sea. But the swamps and

  67. the marshes will not become fresh. They will

  68. be left for salt. Fruit trees of all kinds will

  69. grow on both banks of the river. Their leaves

  70. will not wither, nor will their fruit fail. Every

  71. month they will bear fruit because the water

  72. from the sanctuary flows to them. Their fruit

  73. will serve for food and their leaves for healing.

  74. I'm reading from Jude, first chapter, 17 through

  75. 25. But, dear friends, remember what the apostles

  76. of our Lord Jesus Christ foretold? They said

  77. to you, In the last times, there will be scoffers

  78. who will follow their own ungodly desires. These

  79. are the people who divide you, who follow mere

  80. natural instincts and do not have the Spirit.

  81. But you, dear friends, by building yourselves

  82. up in your most holy faith and praying in the

  83. Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in God's love as

  84. you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ

  85. to bring you to eternal life. Be merciful to

  86. those who doubt. Save others by snatching them

  87. from the fire. To others, show mercy, mixed with

  88. fear, hating even the clothing stained by corrupted

  89. flesh. To Him who is able to keep you from stumbling

  90. and to present you before His glorious presence

  91. without fault and with great joy. To the only

  92. God, our Savior, be glory, majesty, power and

  93. authority through Jesus Christ our Lord, before

  94. all ages, now and forevermore. Amen.
