Good morning and welcome to Champions in Christ.
-
We're so glad you joined us. This is the day
-
the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be
-
glad in it. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Pray your
-
day is going well this morning. It is a great
-
day because Jesus has risen from the dead and
-
he is alive and well today and he loves you he
-
loves you very very much and Today we're gonna
-
get in the word. We're gonna go into John last
-
week we talked about Jesus raised being raised
-
from the dead. I mean not Jesus. I'm sorry Lazarus
-
being raised from the dead and in John chapter
-
11 verse 25. We talked about where Jesus said
-
I am the resurrection in the life and he that
-
believes in me though we were dead yet shall
-
he live and that is true today. It's true every
-
day. It will never change. Jesus is the very
-
life of God and hallelujah. Thank God the Trinity
-
the Father Son and the Holy Ghost and Lord. I
-
just thank you right now as we read your word
-
that she will speak to. every one of our hearts
-
and we thank you for it in Jesus name in John
John 12 chapter mention
-
chapter 12. It was six days before Passover celebration
-
began and Jesus arrived in Bethany the home of
-
Lazarus the man who had been raised from the
-
dead and a dinner was prepared in Jesus's honor
-
Martha served and Lazarus was among those who
-
ate with him now Lazarus had just been raised
-
from the dead not Not long before and Martha
-
was serving, you know I want to stop right here
-
and say thank God for all the people that serve
-
God By serving food by giving cups of water in
-
Jesus name All of that is the love of God working
-
through the body of Christ all the people that
-
serve in all the various churches around the
-
world and give their heart to teaching Sunday
-
school or feeding feeding people after service
-
or feeding the poor or pouring into all of that
-
is serving the Lord when it's and when it's done
-
with the right heart God will bless you back.
-
So just be thankful if you see someone today
-
that has blessed you in that way, thank them
-
for it because that is that is a big deal. It's
-
a really big deal to God that that everything
-
we do we do is unto the Lord with the right heart
-
and he will bless us for it. So Martha's serving
-
Lazarus was sitting at the table amongst others.
-
There Mary took 12 ounces Mary was Martha and
-
Lazarus sister and Mary came in the room and
-
she took a 12 ounce jar of expensive perfume
-
and Made me I'm sorry made from the essence of
-
Nard and she anointed Jesus feet with it wiping
-
his feet with her hair and The house was filled
-
with the fragrance Wow. Well, she took this expensive
-
perfume. She worshipped him And in this is another
-
way that that you can worship by getting at the
-
feet of Jesus and that's humbling ourself getting
-
on our knees laying on our face before God and
-
crying out to him or just loving on him. You
-
know, there's many ways to worship God. But in
-
this instance, Mary wanted to worship him by
-
pouring that expensive oil something that meant
-
a lot to her over his feet and washing his feet
-
with her hair. And it says in verse 4, but Judas
-
Iscariot, the disciple who would soon betray
-
him said that perfume was worth a year's wages.
-
It should have been sold and the money given
-
to the poor. Not that he cared for the poor because
-
Judas was a thief and since he was in charge
-
of the disciples money often he stole from them.
-
He stole out of the bag. This is a New Living
-
Translation that I'm reading. And Jesus replied
-
leave her alone. She did this in preparation
-
for my burial and you will always have the poor
-
with you, but you will not always have me among
-
you. You know, Jesus came and he only lived on
-
earth for 33 years and 30 years of that was being
-
raised up and trained in the things of God. And
-
then those last three years were years of ministry
-
and those ministry because he came on the earth.
-
to die to be that sacrificial lamb of God. And
-
so here he is. And he's talking about how Mary
-
came to prepare for his burial. Now, she didn't
-
know that she came worshipping him, but it was
-
in preparation for his burial. So it goes on
-
to say in verse nine, when all the people heard
-
that Jesus had arrived, they flocked to see him
-
and also to see Lazarus, the man Jesus raised
-
from the dead. Just think about that. If that
-
happened in your town. Does it still happen today?
-
Absolutely. God has raised people from the dead,
-
not just spiritually, but physically and it has
-
happened around the world. Smith Wigglesworth,
-
who was an old -time Saint of God who's been
-
in heaven for a long time. I believe his number
-
he raised 11 or 13 from the dead in his life
-
in Christ on the earth. Andrew Womack has raised
-
a couple people from the dead. I mean, there
-
are people today that have done it and it's through
-
the power of God to the glory of God. And we
-
just thank God that that resurrection power is
-
still alive and well. And guess what? If you
-
believe on him that Jesus died and raised from
-
the dead and you accept his free gift of salvation,
-
that same power will come and live on the inside
-
of you. Glory to God. Hallelujah. I am so thankful
-
for that. Aren't you? And so these so imagine
-
if someone had you had heard that Jesus raised
-
someone from the dead in your town. Wouldn't
-
you want to meet them and see them after they
-
had died? Wouldn't you want to talk to Jesus
-
the one who had the power to do that? Well, it
-
also says in verse 10 that the leading priest
-
decided to kill Lazarus too. For it was because
-
of him that many of the Jews deserted them and
-
believed in Jesus they deserted and turned to
-
Jesus and believed that the life of Christ and
-
So the next day the news went out and Jesus was
-
on his way to Jerusalem swept through the city
-
a large crowd of Passover visitors took palm
-
branches and went down the road to meet him You
-
know, they wanted to celebrate Jesus. They had
-
heard they had believed they had Accepted what
-
he was saying and so they began to shout praise
-
God blessings on the one who comes in the name
-
of the Lord hail to King of Israel Jesus found
-
a young donkey and rode in on it fulfilling the
-
prophecy that said don't be afraid People of
-
Jerusalem. Look your king is coming riding on
-
a donkey's colt colt that had been prophesied
-
six, seven hundred, eight hundred years prior
-
to Christ coming. And so he's fulfilling that
-
prophecy and he's triumphantly marching through
-
the town as they lay palm branches before him.
-
And so no one knew what was coming next. I mean,
-
they're celebrating Christ again, another way
-
to worship God. Many people will stand and lift
-
their hands and worship him. Many will sing praises
-
to his name. So many wonderful worship and praise
-
songs nowadays. Glory, glory, glory, glory. And
-
we're going to turn real quickly to Psalms 112.
-
And Psalms 112 talks about blessing God. And
-
in Psalms 112, it says, praise the Lord. How
-
joyful are those who fear the Lord and delight
-
in obeying his commands. Their children will
-
be successful everywhere and an entire generation
-
of Godly people will be blessed. You know, as
-
we praise the Lord, God gives us promises and
-
rewards. He loves people to worship him. He loves
-
to spend time with you. When you worship him,
-
you get into that deep place with him where it's
-
you and him. You can just lock in, shut your
-
eyes, lift your hands, begin to worship him.
-
You don't have to have a song. Many of you have
-
a song in your heart. You can sing to the Lord.
-
Many times it's just our words of how much we
-
love him, how much we worship him, how much we
-
thank him. It continues to say they themselves
-
will be wealthy and their good deeds will last
-
forever. That's right. When you sow a deed in
-
Christ's name with worship in your heart, when
-
you do something for God, it goes on into heaven,
-
your heavenly account. And but you get rewarded
-
here. He talks about right there how how great
-
things will happen. You know, you yourselves
-
become wealthy light shines in the darkness for
-
the godly, you know, God is a lamp into our feet
-
and a light into our path. He will lead you and
-
guide you just lift your hands unless you're
-
driving and praise the Lord and say, Lord, I
-
thank you. You're a lamp into my feet. I thank
-
you. You're a light into my path. I thank you,
-
Lord. that I know the way in which I should go
-
because he guides you. It continues to say they
-
are generous and compassionate and righteous
-
good comes to those who lend money generously
-
again and conduct business fairly that scripture
-
is talking about, you know, as people serve God,
-
they're going to lend generously. Because everybody
-
that loves and learns about God knows that you
-
can't sow a seed into someone's life, whether
-
it's food or money or a car or anything. You
-
can't sow that you don't reap a harvest because
-
from now until forever, it's going to be seed
-
time and harvest. Hallelujah. And you conduct
-
your business fairly, you know, those with a
-
heart of God are not going to try and cheat people.
-
are not going to try and steal from them. They're
-
going to conduct business honorably and it says
-
such people will not be overcome with evil. Wow.
-
Wow. Praise God. Evil cannot overcome light.
-
Darkness cannot overcome light. So if you worship
-
and praise God, you have the light of God living
-
in you and God will see you through. It says
-
they do not fear for bad news. They are confident
-
and trust in the Lord who cares for them. They
-
are confident and fearless and can face their
-
foes triumphantly why because Jesus defeated
-
the devil on the cross and hell and the grave
-
glory to God. So we have nothing to fear. God
-
has not given us a spirit of fear, but he's given
-
us power love and a sound mind. They share freely
-
and give to those generously in need. Let's drop
-
down. They will have influence and honor. You
-
know, sometimes we get persecuted. It's promised
-
in the Bible. When you serve God, persecution
-
will come. But there are other times God will
-
honor you to whom honor is due and God will.
-
He says promotion comes from the Lord. That's
-
what the word says. So you just trust in him.
-
You follow after him. You do what he tells you
-
to do and he will make your way straight. And
-
even when the persecution comes, he will fill
-
you with joy. You will laugh through it. You
-
will just like Paul and Silas when they were
-
put in prison and stocks on their feet and they
-
were beaten thrown in there. They began to sing
-
praises to God. They didn't care that they were
-
persecuted. They didn't they didn't worry about
-
the pain that they suffered. They sang praises
-
and guess what? An angel of God delivered them
-
open the prison doors. Glory to God. That's our
-
God. That's our glorious God. You know, it goes
-
on to say the wicked will see this and be infuriated.
-
They will grind their teeth in anger. They will
-
slink away and their hopes will be thwarted.
-
You know, that's what happened where we were
-
reading in John chapter 12. Those who had other
John 12 chapter mention
-
motives in their heart could not see the glorious
-
miracle that God did when he when Jesus raised
-
Lazarus from the dead or they couldn't see the
-
truth of the worship that Mary did when she poured
-
over his feet with that expensive perfume and
-
wiped his feet with her hair. Judas mocked her
-
why Judas's motives were all wrong. Was he a
-
disciple? He had been. Did he do miracles? Yeah,
-
Jesus sent him out with the 12 and and later
-
the 70 also, but look at his heart. You know,
-
just because you start out with God doesn't mean
-
you finished with them. We always want to continue.
-
You have to pursue them. You'll never not be
-
blessed when you pursue God. You'll never not
-
be loved. He loves you whether you pursue him
-
or not. But if you pursue God, if you love him,
-
if your heart is hard after him like David, you
-
will be blessed. Your children will be blessed.
-
The generations behind you will be blessed. And
-
so there's lots of ways to praise the Lord. If
-
we go on, if we go on and we look in Psalms 116,
-
116 says I love the Lord because he hears my
-
voice and my prayers for his mercy Do you know
-
God hears your prayers? He hears every one of
-
them every one of them and he answers them It
-
says because he bends down to listen. I will
-
pray as long as I have breath Jesus bends down
-
to hear you It says death wrapped its ropes around
-
me. The tears of the grave overtook me. I saw
-
only trouble and sorrow and then I called upon
-
the name of the Lord. Please Lord save me how
-
kind the Lord is how good he is. So merciful
-
this God of ours verse 6 the Lord protects those
-
of childlike faith. That's right. He likes us
-
to come and just believe it. Just believe it
-
when he says, I love you. Just believe it when
-
he says, I want to save you. Just accept that
-
free gift. He loves it. Simple faith. God is
-
simple. He keeps everything simple. And so we
-
continue on and it says the Lord protects those
-
of childlike faith. I was facing death and he
-
saved me. Are you facing death today? He'll be
-
your Savior. Are you sick in body today? He's
-
your healer. Are you low in finances today? He
-
is the victory in your finances. He will bless
-
your socks off. You'll look around and go my
-
my my look what the Lord has done. Hallelujah.
-
It says let my soul be at rest again for the
-
Lord has been good to me. He has saved me from
-
death my eyes from tears my feet from stumbling
-
and so I walk. in the Lord's presence. Wow. Wow.
-
And how do we get in his presence? The Bible
-
says he lives in the praises of his people. So
-
just by praising him, his presence will come.
-
He can't stay away. He cannot help himself, but
-
show up when you start praising and worshipping,
-
you will feel the presence of God. But whether
-
you feel it or not, he's there because he's omnipresent
-
and he loves You he loves you so much and he
-
goes on to say here. It says he has saved me
-
from death my ears from tears my feet from stumbling.
-
And so I walk in the presence of God as I live
-
here on earth. I believed you. So I said I'm
-
deeply troubled Lord and in my anxiety. I cried
-
out to you. These people are liars. What can
-
I offer the Lord for all he's done for me? I
-
will lift up the cup of salvation and praise
-
the Lord's name for saving me. I will keep my
-
promises to the Lord and in the presence of all
-
his people. Glory to God. Do you know God will
-
save you? You don't have to listen to the words
-
of people talking about you cast that down and
-
lift up your voice. God will deliver you. He
-
will set those people right. He will make your
-
name great. He will make your name great. You
-
just look unto him. It says the Lord cares deeply.
-
When his loved ones die, even when you die, he
-
loves he's present in death and to be absent
-
from the body is to be present with the Lord.
-
And when we're present with the Lord, it's a
-
glorious thing. But we want to be present in
-
heaven and we'll talk about that in just a moment.
-
And it continues to say Oh Lord, I am your servant.
-
I am your servant born in your house. You have
-
freed me from my chains. He will free you from
-
the chains of mockery from the chains of sin
-
death hell in the grave. It says I will offer
-
to you a sacrifice of Thanksgiving and call upon
-
the Lord. I will fulfill my vows to the Lord
-
in the presence of his people and in the house
-
of the Lord in the heart of Jerusalem. Praise
-
the Lord. Again, God loves you. He wants the
-
best for you. He wants to be your victory. He
-
is our victory. You know, Psalm 117 says, praise
-
the Lord. All you nations, praise him. All you
-
people in the earth, praise him for his unfailing
-
love to us is powerful and the Lord's faithfulness
-
endures forever. Praise the Lord. You know, Jesus.
-
Is the sweetest name. I know why because he came
-
on the earth. He died for you and me. He didn't
-
have to he could have wiped this all out and
-
started over, but he didn't he wanted to save
-
his people. He loves you today. He loves you.
-
And if you need a Savior today, I want you to
-
listen to this song. These two songs that are
-
coming up. They talk about praise and the Lord
-
it talks about that sweet sweet name of Jesus
-
Christ who died for you and rose from the grave
-
and is victorious and is waiting on your behalf.
-
He's waiting for you. He's waiting for you. So
-
we're going to break away and I'll come right
-
back at you at the end of these couple of songs.
-
Met a good, good God I remember when my heart
-
was broken But now it's not I've tasted and I've
-
seen You've been so good to me From the moment
-
that you changed my life, God You never stopped
-
I'm gonna sing Come try to get me gonna praise
-
the Lord From the moment when the Sun starts
-
rising till the Sun goes down I'm surrounded
-
by Got filled with the spirit And now I'm satisfied
-
Hallelujah. He is the sweetest name I know. And
-
if you don't know him today, we want to give
-
you opportunity right now. You know, the Bible
-
says that he that believes on Jesus Christ shall
-
be saved. The Bible says for God so loved the
-
world that he gave his only begotten son that
-
whosoever calls upon his name shall have eternal
-
life. You know, if you believe in your heart
-
that Jesus died from the grit died and rose from
-
the grave, you can be born again. Just pray this
-
prayer with me. Dear Jesus I come before you
-
and I ask you to forgive me to wash me of my
-
sin I receive your salvation your free gift through
-
Jesus Christ I thank you Lord and accept that
-
you died and rose again on my behalf and I thank
-
you father I ask you to fill me with your Holy
-
Spirit and I thank you that I am a new creature
-
in Christ today in Jesus name Amen. Hallelujah.
-
If you prayed that prayer today, you've been
-
born again. If you prayed that prayer and you
-
haven't prayed it in a long time, you've just
-
been brought back to the restoration with God.
