Hello, this is David here with the Moore family,
-
and they're going to read a couple of scriptures
-
to you here in a few minutes. But before that,
-
I want them to share their element that points
-
them to Christ. Hi, I'm Leland. And I'm Jaylee.
-
And one memory that makes Christmas really special
-
for us in particular is the fact that we got
-
engaged on Christmas nine years ago. Yes, we
-
got engaged in Montana. We were there for vacation
-
with my family and it was a lot of fun. It was
-
on the side of a mountain in the snow and I had
-
no idea. So it was a big surprise. Leland had
-
carried the ring with him for a really long time
-
and I still did not know. Hi, I'm Case and my
-
favorite thing to do on Christmas is go to the
-
park and walk through the lights. And now we're
-
going to share a few scripture readings with
-
you guys. I'm gonna be reading Zechariah 8, 1
-
through 17, the New American Standard Version.
-
Thus says the Lord of hosts old men and old women
-
will again sit in the streets of Jerusalem each
-
man with his staff in his hand because of age
-
and The streets of the city will be filled with
-
boys and girls playing in its streets Thus says
-
the Lord of hosts if it is too difficult in the
-
sight of the remnant of this people in those
-
days Will it also be too difficult in my sight
-
declares the Lord of hosts thus says the Lord
-
of hosts behold I am going to save my people
-
from the land of the east and from the land of
-
the west and I will bring them back and they
-
will live in the midst of Jerusalem and they
-
shall be my people and I will be their God in
-
truth and righteousness. Thus says the Lord of
-
hosts let your hands be strong you who are listening
-
in these days to these words from the mouth of
-
the prophets those who speak in the day that
-
the foundation of the house of the Lord of hosts
-
was laid to the end that the temple might be
-
built for before those days there was no wage
-
for man or any wage for animal and for him who
-
went out or came in there was no peace because
-
of his enemies and i said all men one against
-
another but now i will not treat the remnant
-
of this people as in the former days declares
-
the lord of hosts for there will be peace for
-
the seed The vine will yield its fruit, the land
-
will yield its produce, and the heavens will
-
give their due. And I will cause the remnant
-
of this people to inherit all of these things.
-
It will come about that just as you were a curse
-
among the nations, O house of Judah and house
-
of Israel, so I will save you that you may become
-
a blessing. Do not fear, let your hands be strong.
-
For thus says the Lord of hosts. Just as I have
-
purposed to do harm to you when your fathers
-
provoked me to wrath says Lord of hosts and I
-
have not relented So I have again purposed in
-
these days to do good to Jerusalem and to the
-
house of Judah Do not fear These are the things
-
which you should do speak truth to one another
-
Judge with truth and judgment for peace in your
-
gates Also, let none of you eyes evil in your
-
heart against another and do not love perjury
-
For all these are what I hate, declares the Lord.
-
Matthew 8, 14 through 17. When Jesus came into
-
Peter's house, he saw Peter's mother -in -law
-
laying in bed with a fever. He touched her hand,
-
and the fever left her. And she got up and began
-
to wait on him. Evening came many who were demon
-
possessed were brought to him and he drove out
-
the spirit with a word and healed all the sick
-
which this was to fulfill what was spoken through
-
the prophet Isaiah. He took up our infirmities
-
and bore our diseases. I'm reading Matthew 8,
-
28 through 34. Some distance from them, a large
-
herd of pigs was feeding. The demons begged Jesus,
-
if you drive us out, send us to the herd of pigs.
-
He said to them, go. So they came out and went
-
into the pigs. And the whole herd rushed down
-
the steep bank into the lake and died in the
-
water. Those tending the pigs ran off, went into
-
town and reported all of this, including what
-
had happened to the demon possessed men. Then
-
the whole town went out to meet Jesus. and when
-
they saw him, they pleaded with him to leave
-
their region.
