It's time for the Champions in Christ broadcast
-
with Rhonda Harrison on 1017 KFN. Good morning
-
and welcome to Champions in Christ. We are so
-
happy you joined us. This is the day the Lord
-
has made and we need to rejoice and we are glad
-
in it. We serve a mighty God that loves you so
-
much today. No matter what you're going through,
-
no matter What you've done his love never changes
-
for you and his help is always available for
-
you. We're going to talk about Passover. We're
-
going to start in Matthew chapter 21. It says
Matthew 21 chapter mention
-
and when they drew near into Jerusalem and we're
-
coming to Bethpage upon the Mount of Olives then
-
Jesus sent two of his disciples saying go in
-
the village over there and straightway. You'll
-
find a cult tide bring her and loose. The cult
-
and the mom mom, which is a donkey and if any
-
man ask you why you need this say the Lord has
-
need of them and straightway. He will send them
-
and all of this was done that it might be fulfilled
-
which was spoken by the prophet tell the daughter
-
of Zion behold the King comes meek sitting upon
-
a donkey and a cult of the full of a donkey and
-
the disciples went and did as Jesus commanded.
-
And they brought the donkey and the colt and
-
put them put on them their clothes and set him
-
upon there and a very great multitude spread
-
their garments in the way and cut down branches
-
from trees and laid them in the street and the
-
multitudes that were before and followed cried
-
out saying hosanna hosanna to the son of David
-
blessed is he that comes in the name of the Lord
-
hosanna in the highest. You know, this was prophesied
-
in the Bible long before this took place was
-
prophesied. You can find it in Psalms 118 75.
-
You can find everything that Jesus did just about
-
prophesied early on because he fulfills prophecy,
-
you know, was spoken hundreds of years prior
-
in Zachariah. It's also found. I believe it's
-
nine nine Zachariah prophesies about it. But
-
all of these things were to prove how true God
-
was what he spoke and said he would do he did
-
and so it was an exciting time and it was Passover
-
and Passover. They are they're celebrating Passover
-
Passover in the Bible actually talks about it
-
in Exodus 12 the chapter 12 it'll explain the
-
whole thing to you and it was a time where the
-
children of Israel were told to take a lamb.
-
for their household and to cook it up and to
-
eat it and what wasn't eaten had to be burned
-
and then you take the blood and you put it upon
-
the door post and it's and it is protection.
-
So when the death angel came, it would skip over
-
any house with the blood and really it's symbolic
-
and a foreshadow of who Jesus was. Jesus is the
-
living Passover. He came to be the ultimate sacrifice.
-
He came to die on that cross. shed his blood
-
that we would forever be delivered from death
-
hell in the grave. If we chose Jesus, the opportunity
-
is there for you. It's for you today. If you
-
don't know him, if you don't know who I'm referencing,
-
he loves you today. He's the God of heaven and
-
earth. The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit
-
are all one. The Son is Jesus Christ. And he
-
came. to die for us to be that sacrifice because
-
since separated us from God all the way back
-
from when Adam started and he said and it was
-
through our bloodline. That's why we needed a
-
virgin birth. That's why Jesus had to come through
-
a virgin and was Mary was overshadowed by the
-
Holy Spirit. That's how she became pregnant with
-
Jesus. And because of the pure blood as long
-
as Jesus didn't sin and taint that blood when
-
he died that blood was became the payment for
-
our sin because the wages of sin is death and
-
we don't have to worry about eternal death anymore
-
because hallelujah praise God Jesus rose from
-
the dead death could not hold him because the
-
blood was pure and it paid the payment. So death
-
could not hold him. So he rose again and ascended
-
into heaven and sent the Holy Spirit. So that's
-
what we're talking about today is what Jesus
-
did that the Passover he went to have a meal
-
with his disciples before his crucifixion. This
-
was a not a not a fun time for anyone as we can
-
see. And so we're going to We're going to continue.
-
We're going to go to the book of John and we're
-
going to go to chapter 13 and we're going to
-
start. We can start in verse 1. It says before
-
the Passover celebration Jesus knew that his
-
hour had come to leave this world and return
-
to his father. He had loved his disciples during
-
his ministry on earth and now he loved them to
-
the very end. It was time for supper and the
-
devil had already prompted Judas the son of Simon
-
Iscariot to betray Jesus. And Jesus knew that
-
the father had given him authority over everything
-
that he had came from God and would return to
-
God. So he got up from the table took off his
-
robe wrapped a towel around his waist and pour
-
water into a basin and then began to wash the
-
disciples feet drying them with a tally had around
-
him. When Jesus came to Simon Peter, Peter said
-
to him, Lord, are you going to wash my feet?
-
And Jesus said, you don't understand now what
-
I'm doing, but someday you will know Peter protested.
-
You will never ever wash my feet. You know, Peter
-
still saw him as his Lord. He couldn't understand
-
why the Lord was willing to serve him in this
-
way. Jesus said, unless I wash your feet, you
-
will have no part in me. Simon Peter exclaim
-
then wash my feet, wash my hands, my head. Lord
-
not just my feet, you know, then Peter goes over
-
forth the other way wash it all Lord because
-
he loved Jesus and Jesus said a person who has
-
washed all over does not need to wash except
-
the feet to be entirely clean and you disciples
-
are clean, but not all of you for Jesus knew
-
one would betray him and that is what he meant.
-
But when he said not all of you are clean. So
-
after washing their feet, he put his robe down
-
on again and sat down and said, do you understand
-
what I was doing? You call me teacher and Lord,
-
and you are right because that is what I am.
-
But since I'm your Lord and teacher and have
-
washed your feet, you also must wash on one another's
-
feet. I have given you an example to follow,
-
do as I have done to you. I tell you the truth,
-
slaves are no greater than their masters, nor
-
the messenger more important than the one who
-
sends the message. Now that you know these things
-
God will bless you for doing them. You know,
-
he was talking about the greatest form of love
-
is service to one another. You know what we do
-
for someone else when the Bible says no greater
-
love than this that a man lays down his life
-
for his friends. That's what Jesus did for us
-
on the cross literally. And that's what we do
-
for one another daily. When we serve and we help
-
and we love people, if we give a cup of water
-
in his name, we visit someone in prison. We love
-
the unlovely. If we give and visit the widows
-
and the orphans, when we bless other people,
-
we're laying down our life when we could be blessing
-
ourself. But thank God for God and his love through
-
people. And so this is what's happening. He's
-
leaving them an example. He begins to talk to
-
them about all the things he wants to tell them
-
about prior to his death. And so now at this
-
point, he's told them one of them is not clean.
-
And so he says, I'm not saying these things to
-
all of you. I know the ones I have chosen, but
-
this fulfills scripture that says the one who
-
eats my food has turned against me. I tell you
-
this beforehand. So that when it happens, you
-
will believe that I am the Messiah. I tell you
-
the truth. Anyone who welcomes my messenger is
-
welcoming me. Anyone who welcomes me is welcoming
-
the father who sent me. Now Jesus was deeply
-
troubled and he exclaimed I tell you the truth.
-
One of you will betray you. You know, these are
-
men who have walked with him in love and fellowship
-
and ministry for three years. And so now one
-
of them is going to betray him. He goes on to
-
say the disciples looked at each other wondering.
-
Who could he mean the disciples? Jesus love was
-
sitting next to him at the table and Simon Peter
-
motioned him and said, who is he talking about?
-
So that disciple leaned over to Jesus and said,
-
Lord, who is it? And Jesus responded. It is the
-
one I give bread. I dip in the bowl. And when
-
he had dipped it, he gave it to Judas, the son
-
of Simon Iscariot. And when Judas had eaten the
-
bread, Satan entered into him and Jesus said,
-
hurry and do what you're going to do. None of
-
the others at the table knew what Jesus meant.
-
Since Judas was their treasurer, some thought
-
Jesus was telling him to go and pay for the food
-
or go get some money for the poor. So Judas left
-
at once going out at night. And as soon as Judas
-
left the room, Jesus said the time has come the
-
son of man to enter into the glory and God will
-
be glorified because of him. And since God receives
-
glory because of the sun, he will give his own
-
glory to the sun and he will do it at once. Dear
-
children, I will be with you only a little while
-
longer. As I told you the Jewish leaders, you
-
will I told you the Jewish leaders, you will
-
search for me, but you cannot come where I'm
-
going. So I'm now going to give you a new commandment.
-
Love one another as I have loved you. You should
-
love one another. Your love for another will
-
prove to the world that you are my disciples.
-
You know, Jesus said love is the greatest of
-
all. Faith, hope and love, but love is the greatest.
-
Loving people is so important. It proves that
-
you are God's disciple. And Simon Peter said,
-
Lord, where are you going? And Jesus replied,
-
you can't go with me now, but you will follow
-
me later. But why can I come Lord? He said, I'm
-
ready to die for you. And Jesus said, die for
-
me. I tell you the truth, Peter, before the rooster
-
crows tomorrow morning, you will deny me three
-
times. You know, the power of God, the supernatural
-
working miracle working power of God. Works through
-
Jesus all through his life on earth and continues
-
to work through his children and here again,
-
he's prophesying Unfortunately, not a positive
-
thing but that that Peter will deny him and Peter
-
can't believe it You know, he's kind of shocked
-
that That his own Lord and Savior said that but
-
he knew whatever Jesus said was true, you know,
-
the Bible talks about Passover and Jesus being
-
the Passover lamb, not just in Matthew and in
-
John, but also in Luke. You can read it in all
-
three and it's great to read and reread and understand
-
the ultimate sacrifice Jesus was willing to do.
-
But you know, he had this last meal with them
-
and he was teaching them and sharing with them
-
all the things that he felt were important for
-
them to understand. Because he was he was becoming
-
the living Passover after Jesus died and rose
-
again. There was no more need to To have Passover
-
for the reasons they did for now. He was the
-
Passover, but we do Many times in church and
-
you can do it at home You can't take of the bread
-
and the wine or bread and grape juice or whatever
-
substitute you have the point being he said do
-
this in remembrance of me as often as you will
-
and this is a celebration now when we do it it's
-
a celebration of How he shed his blood and how
-
he rose again and took that beating on his back
-
for our healing For all the promises of God are
-
available to us who are born again And if you're
-
not we'll give you an opportunity here in a moment
-
to be born again And so that you can partake
-
of those promises, those great promises of God.
-
You know, Jesus goes on in verse 14 and says,
-
don't let your heart be troubled. Trust in God
-
and trust in me. There is more than enough room
-
in my Father's house. You know, he was talking
-
about heaven and he was going to prepare a way,
-
but he continues on in verse six. I am the way,
-
the truth and the life. No one can go to the
-
Father except through me. Only through Jesus
-
only through receiving that free gift of salvation.
-
Can we one day be in heaven with him? There's
-
only two places you can go after you die heaven
-
and hell and both are very real and both last
-
forever. There's no in between the scriptures
-
are clear when we receive Jesus. We will live
-
in his father's home in heaven. If we do not
-
we will. If we do not accept that free gift of
-
salvation, you know, Jesus died. It was a great
-
price he paid, but he offers it freely to us.
-
And if we receive it, we will be in that heaven
-
with with Jesus and get to live with him eternally.
-
If we choose not to, we will live forever in
-
hell. And it's a place of fire and brimstone
-
misery that you can't even imagine. And so it's
-
well, well in our favor to to welcome this glorious
-
free gift from heaven that we too can rejoice
-
and rule and reign with him. That's what the
-
Bible says we will do. It is a victorious thing
-
when we receive him when we accept the free gift
-
of salvation, you know, it even talks about if
-
we look forward to the book of Revelation, which
-
was written by John. The Apostle John and Jesus
-
took him up into the heaven and began to show
-
him things to come and in Revelation 5 beginning
-
in verse 9 it says And they sang a new song with
-
these words you are worthy to take the scroll
-
and break open the seals for you were Slaughtered
-
and your blood has ransomed the people for God
-
for every tribe and language, every people, every
-
nation, and you have caused them to become a
-
kingdom of priests for our God and they will
-
reign on the earth. That is speaking of you and
-
I, all the people around the world that accept
-
that free gift have become a kingdom of priests
-
in God and we will rule and reign with Christ.
-
Glory to God, that is such an exciting thing.
-
And then it goes on to say in verse 11, then
-
I looked again and I heard the voices of a thousands
-
and millions of angels around the throne of the
-
living beings and the elders and they sang a
-
mighty chorus worthy is the lamb who was slain
-
to receive power and riches wisdom and strength
-
honor and glory and blessing. And then I heard
-
every creature in heaven and earth under the
-
earth and in the sea sing blessing and honor
-
and glory and power belong to the one sitting
-
on the throne to the lamb forever and forever
-
talking about the lamb of God the only lamb of
-
God. There is no other Savior of the world, but
-
Jesus Christ. He's the only one that's alive.
-
You go to his grave. There's nothing there because
-
he rose from the grave over 2000 years ago. He
-
seated in heavenly places with the father at
-
the right hand and has sent the Holy Spirit to
-
live in you and me. You know, because of that
-
our sins are no more covered by the blood of
-
lamb and goats, which is why they used to to
-
do in the Old Testament. But it is washed away.
-
In Psalms 10312, it says, as far as the east
-
is from the west, so far has he removed our sin
-
from us. Glory to God. Micah 719 says, and into
-
the sea of forgetfulness goes our sin. Glory
-
to Jesus. Glory to God. We are blessed. We are
-
highly favored. There is no one like us. And
-
if you're looking for a historical count, that
-
was written back in the day back in the 91 AD
-
in the antiquities of Josephus in book 18 chapter
-
4 in the third paragraph talks about this very
-
thing and the fact that Jesus was alive on Earth
-
died and rose again. So it is even a historical
-
fact. So I just encourage you encourage you to
-
read the Word of God. Fill yourself to overflowing
-
with his goodness. You will be blessed. You will
-
be blessed. He freely gives us all things to
-
enjoy is what his word says. There's so much
-
of life. God wants you to enjoy so much so much
-
and you can have that when you accept Jesus and
-
you begin to learn about his his truth and what
-
he has available to you and how much how much
-
he loves you. We have so much to be thankful.
-
We're so thankful for the blood of Jesus Christ
-
because without that blood we would still be
-
lost in sin bound for an eternal hell. But because
-
of Christ Jesus because of his willingness to
-
go on a cross and die for you and for me to be
-
the ultimate sacrifice. We have blessings. and
-
a life of goodness and grace and mercy that's
-
available for us. His mercies are new every morning.
-
Today if you need His mercy, and we all do, today
-
if you need His salvation, and we all do, today
-
if you need Jesus Christ to cleanse you from
-
sin, He will do it. All you have to do is call
-
on the name of Jesus and receive Him. Maybe you've
-
been away from him. All you have to do is call
-
on his name to be restored. Repent of your sin
-
and he will forgive you and he will bless you
-
and your life will never be the same. The blood
-
of Jesus is the most powerful thing in existence
-
today and it has been since its existence. It's
-
poured over the mercy seat of Christ when the
-
Father God looks at us. He looks through the
-
blood of Jesus and our sins as we read are washed
-
into the sea of forgetfulness to be remembered
-
no more. He does not want you wallowing in what
-
you've done. He will forgive you. He will cleanse
-
you and he will use you and bless your life from
-
here on out. Please reach out to him. It's such
-
a glorious thing. He is your father. He is your
-
strength. He is everything we need in our life.
-
If there was only one thing you could have on
-
earth, if you lived here all by yourself and
-
you could have one thing, it would be Christ's
-
love. It would be his blood. It would be him
-
that you would want because through him, he empowers
-
us to have all things through him. He says he
-
gives you all things freely to enjoy. He is the
-
provider of your needs. He is listening to your
-
heart, but he asked us to believe to believe
-
and be thankful. And we're going to go to a song
-
and it talks about this very beautiful precious
-
blood of Christ. And I will come back at you
-
right after this song. Was rich I remember who
-
I was I was lost I was blind I was running out
-
of time Sin Separated the breach was far too
-
wide But from the far side of the chasm You held
-
me in your side So you made a way across the
-
great divide Left behind heaven's throne to build
-
it here inside And there at the cross you paid
-
the debt I owe Broke my chains, freed my soul
-
for the first time I I had hope. Thank you, Jesus,
-
for the blood applied. Thank you, Jesus, it has
-
washed me white. Thank you, Jesus, you have saved
-
into glorious life. You took my place, laid inside
-
my tomb of sin. You were buried for three days,
-
but then you walked right Hallelujah. Hallelujah.
-
Thank you for the blood Lord. Thank you for the
-
blood that was shed on the cross for us. Thank
-
you Lord. Thank you Lord as we begin to celebrate
-
this time between now and father when you rose
-
from the grave. We just give you glory and honor
-
and Thanksgiving in Jesus name and I just ask
-
you right now if you haven't received Jesus or
-
you want to return to him and you just want him.
-
full in your life today and you want to surrender
-
your will and to his then pray this prayer after
-
me say father forgive me for I have sinned I
-
receive you as Lord and Savior Jesus I accept
-
your free gift for your blood was shed for me
-
and I give you praise and I give you glory and
-
I give you honor thank you Lord In Jesus name.
-
Amen. If you prayed that prayer, I want to declare
-
to you, you have been forgiven. You are washed
-
clean and Jesus loves you. And right now the
-
angels in heaven are rejoicing. They're announcing
-
your name in heaven. And I want you to go out
-
and share with someone you gave your life to
-
Christ because when you confess before the father,
-
the father confesses you. He has much to show
-
you so get in a good Bible believe in church
-
that preaches the whole Word of God and We will
-
see you and I mean we will talk to you again
-
next time But we want you to go out and make
-
it a great day today and know that God loves
-
you We love you, and you are a champion in Christ
